American Standard Online unfair practice

This website does not assist at all! Saw the attractive listing on Craiglist and call right away. The man that answered me assured me that the "rent to own" thing will be great and its a "Win Win Situation". Paid the $199 and logged in. By doing that, you are signing automatically agreeing to the terms (No refunds). Waited 5 days until they will re post any listings in the area that I want. Once you find the desire location, you need to call customer service which they the end...AMERICAN STANDARD asking you to write a letter addressing the homeowner soliciting to use them as "THE COMPANY THAT CAN AVOID ANY FORECLOSURE ON THE HOUSE"
What a scam!
Looking forward to expose them for what they are! SCAM!

This company now will record and call back the number you call from. If you call this company, even if it's just to screw with them, DO NOT CONTACT THEM FROM A HOME OR CELL PHONE! Contact them from a google phone number that DOES NOT connect to your home phone number.

This is easy to do. Set up an alias google account. You do have to put in a legitimate phone number in order to get a google phone #. But once you do, go back to your regular google email account and get a phone number for it and use the same home / cell number as a forwarding number. Once you do that, it will remove your home or cell number from the alias account. Also if you do this, make sure the area code you choose for your alias is not one within your state. Be careful and protect yourselves. These scams are being run from the Philipines and I believe American Standard Online, Anchor Financial, and others associated with that scam might be being run out of Australia, but I haven't not yet been able to confirm that for sure. It's possible they are all being run out of the Philippines by the same people running First House Financial and Sun Financial Online. That might make is seem safe, however, the people running First House Financial DO have a few relatives living in Southern California. Hide yourself, protect yourself, DO NOT give these people ANY personal information of any kind.

WARNING! This company now records the number you are calling from, and if you call from a blocked number, they will either not answer the phone or will get an automated message stating the number is disconnected. If you call this company just to screw with them, do it from an anonymous google phone that DOES NOT connect to your cell or home phone!

I just got off the phone with rep "Derek Smith", agent number 2034. He seemed really friendly, until I started asking questions. Everything sounds too good to be true and my application has already been approved when I was asked nothing of importance except my debit card and billing info ( he claims everything will be found on the website). At this time, I am currently looking for a place but the debit card number I gave him has 49.00 dollars in funds...naturally, I asked if since there is a 199.00 fee will i be charged now he keeps fast talking me and assuring me that I will not receive any withdrawals until I access the website and find a place.I keep trying to ask questions but he keeps directing all questions to be answered by the website...however he is able to keep asking me over and over to verify my card information.

I finally notice that he is getting flustered especially everytime I ask a question so I say, "sir, im only asking these questions more than once because it sounds a little too good to be true and to get more clarification, as you have asked me over and over about my card info." He then says its fine and proceeds to ask about my card AGAIN. I ask him what is the problem, he lets me know that the card is declining. But...you wasnt going to take any money from me...I asked that in the beginning. He starts being really rude and says well if you dont even have the funds to do this then why are you looking? LOL... really?1. you said nothing will be taken until I do the registering on your website 2. i asked for more clarification a few times and youre so busy trying to get me on the website that you are rushing, leaving out an important part of your scam. 3.this is an active account, but thank God it declined because while he was talking something told me to come to this website and got a chance to read these reviews, making it easy to hang up in his face.

FUTURE PEOPLE BEWARE IT IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE.ANY PERSON SELLING YOU ANYTHING WILL NOT LEAVE KEY INFORMATION OUT WHEN DEALING WITH YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION AND WILL TAKE THE TIME TO MAKE SURE YOU KNOW 199.00 WILL BE TAKEN FROM YOUR ACCOUNT BEFORE YOU HANG UP FROM A FREAKING CALL.It's a shame that there are people out here that look to take from unsuspecting folks.

I also AM being scammed by American Standards - I have gone to and directly spoke to the owners from the list and out of 25 discussions THE HOMES WERE NOT IN DISTRESS - They thought I was crazy and some even got "hostile".

Bottom line is that a FRAUED LAWSUIT could be done under the FALSE ADVERTISISNG ACT because thye houses ARE NOT available.

If any attorney wants to take this bunch of these people on - We can ALL MAKE OUR MONEY BACK AND EVEN MORE, and can have the owner of American Standards arrested and prosecuted.

American Standard Online scam

This company is a complete farce. I, too, was scammed by them. In January, 2010, I called them and was told the exact same things as the others were told. I was told that the $199.00 is completely refundable should you find the services unsatisfactory. After reviewing the website and contacting a few of the homeowners by letters, I discovered that there is no way to obtain the 5 denial letters required to obtain my refund. The homeowners have instructions to contact American Standard only. When I called to see if any homeowners had contacted them on my behalf, I was told they had not. Now, how can I verify this is true? You can't because they are going to lie to you. I then re-drafted the letters and told the homeowners to contact me. No one responded. I contacted American Standard and informed them of this, sent the refund request letter and have not heard from them. I placed countless calls to them and they just hung up on me. I have reported them to the Better Business Burea and they did not respond to them, either. I am going on every website I can to expose the scam that this has turned out to be! Please beware!

Those thieves are crazy. The stories above are similar to mine. The deal was really too sweet to be true. A friend hooked me up with those thieves. I lost $199.00 just like the other victims. I sent 0ver 50 letters in different suburbs and villages in Nassau County. I even went to see the houses that American Standard Online sent me. The people of American Standard Online, I'm still waiting for my refund and I won't give up until you are all in Jail for stealing.

I just filed a complaint with the BBB today against these people. They will tell you that your are purchasing whatever it is you happen to be looking for at the time. Then, by the time you find out you've been ripped off, it's too late. These people need to be in JAIL!

Everything others have said is exactly what I have just experienced. After speaking with the customer service rep, they told me what date I could submit my refund request and to be sure to include the 5 denial letters from the homeowners. THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE IF THE HOMEOWNERS DO NOT CONTACT ANYONE DIRECT. The letters that we were told to use from American Standard Online site, have THEIR phone number. I have contact the CA attorney general's office and will continue working with my bank for a refund.

We just got off the phone with ASO and they did sound very convincing and helpful. While I was still on the phone with him, I began researching the company and came across this site, among many others, talking about it being a scam. I am very skeptical of companies like this after having been burned by similar deals. It goes back to the old saying: "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is." By the way, I think blancheduchamps is probably a plant from ASO to counter the countless negative reviews to try to somehow redeem the company.

blancheduchamps is BS. I just called these idiots and there is no change. I submitted them to the FBIs internet crimes department and the abuse department at Craigslist. I hope that this company and all agents are sent to jail for fraud. The only useful thing you said blancheduchamps is the number of necessary complaints that the AG needs to take action. I’m going there after posting this. Rot blancheduchamps.

Gee... this is not my experience AT ALL. Perhaps it's because these comments are over two years old, and the company has since changed, but I was greatly helped by the listings and the customer service this company provides is top drawer. My husband and I actually obtained a house for a lot less money, with no credit check and no money down... just like ASO claims. We did look at other listing services and this is the only one that provides the legal back up, like the title search and rent to own agreement.
BTW, it only takes two legitimate complaints to any state's atty general or DA to get a business shut down. Obviously, the vast majority of these complainers did not bother, or if they did, their complaints were unfounded.
Another interesting fact is that my sister's home was in pre-foreclosure, and it was on the American Standard website. She actually was able to sign her home over to a person who contacted her by way of this company. Lately, I called to ask a question vis a vis another friend's property... how to be sure to get their house on the list... and I asked what they thought of these complaints. I found out that they sign up on average about 250 people a week for this program. All I could think was if even 2 of these people complained each week this site and others would be overrun with angry comments.

My wife and I mailed over 100 inquiries to distressed properties, and didn't receive one response back. I was told this was a 90 day money back guarantee program. Closing in on 90 days I called American Standard and they told me to request my deposit online. That was 7 or 8 months ago, and at this time I'm still awaiting my refund. These people are schlocks and need to be shut down before others become victims.

Being that you already have called the Attorney General, and the amount of people scammed you/we should initiate a "Class Action Lawsuit.

This is the best (and only) way to get your money back AND shut this service down completely with financial penalties for FRAUD and misleading advertising.

I'm in on the clas action lawsuite IS ANY ONE ELSE ON BOARD TO DO THIS ?

A scam. They want $199 for internet access to "pre-foreclosed" homes. Many of the homes they list are not even for sale! The prices are completely wrong, and you will not be able to get your money back. They don't do anything for you. They are a scam. Do not give them your money!

American Standard Online refusing refund

This company is false advertising on Craigslist under rentals. Once you call they tell you they can get you into a bank owned house for $199.00 and your payments will only be $1300.00. Once you give them your credit card # they send you a list of homes and generic letters. Now, you are on your own to contact the owners and try in work out a deal with them.
When we called and asked for a refund they first said it would take 90 days. Then they lowered it to 10-15 days. When we called customer service and asked for an immediate refund they hung up on us when I asked what her name was.

The same thing happened to me ! This company has to be the worst . I found them on Craigslist also. I spoke to a sells person who signed me up. The processed two payments and I called them and they refunded the mistaken extra payment but they send out these generic forms for you to send out to homeowners but no feed back no anything. This company is in effective and a total sham. In order to get a refund you have to produce 5 DENIAL LETTERS from the homeowners Really ? They also will not refund the card that they drafted the money from you have to wait 90 days to receive a check ! I was tricked.

Well, my husband was told, once he looked at the list and found 1 he liked to contact them and they would set up a showing, NOT TRUE! and the pics that were sent were very muddy and not clear it was like they were taken across the street at dusk no inside pics, we had to go on a legit web site to see if they were for sale, what is wrong with that picture. What they are requesting regarding the deniel letters is impossible, people are not going to contact you, all ours came back, they told me we had to mail them to american Standard to get the money back and them I call them back after about 1 1/2 mons, I spoke to after 3 messages I left I spoke with Doug Williams, I was now told they have to be deniel letters. so
the MONEY IS NOT REFUNDABLE IS IT? FRAUD!

Has anyone out there, purchased a home using this company? If so, please, please post HOW you did it. I too, signed up for this, I found an ad in the paper, I was looking for a place to move, we were renting at the time, and our lease was going to be up in 2 months, so, we were looking for a home to rent...our credit wasn't strong enough to buy. I called the number, and I got a gentleman telling me how we could buy homes in foreclosure our credit didn't matter, and all we needed to do was give 199 that would be the down payment for the property we chose. I got his name and had my husband call. He got the same answers, so we did pay the 199.00 What we got was an email address that had lists and lists of homes, and contact information. What the man on the phone failed to tell us was that we were to contact the owners of the homes on this list. So, I printed up 75 copies of the contact letter they provide, also on the website. And I went down the list of properties in the areas I preferred, and I sent the letters out. I had no response, so, I copied 125 more and sent them out...It has been over 6 months and I have not gotten ONE response. I called customer service, and they told me to keep trying.
I just want to know what I'm doing wrong?! It has been over 6 months, we moved into an apartment while waiting on a response from some of the homeowners. I called for assistance from customer service, and have gotten NONE!
I don't know what else to do...we of course were not told this is what their "win win" situation was. We were mislead by the man on the phone! Some of these homes have been in foreclosure over 2 years... and we still have not moved into one.
Please, if anyone is out there that can give me some insight as to how to do this I would greatly appreciate it!
Thank-you

American Standard Online deceptive practices

American Standard Online operates under the facade of a company that connects homeowners in distress with renters who are willing to take over the mortgage with the option of buying at the end of their leasing term. HUGE SCAM! It is merely a website with a bunch of listings of homes (purchased from banks where the homeowners know nothing) and a guide on how to harrass those completely unaware homeowners into agreeing to rent to you. While they claim their $199 fee is merely an establishment of credit to be kept on file and a safety deposit and completely refundable, it is really money they won't return until at least 90 days into the service (hidden in the fine print of the terms you have to check "yes" to to start using their website). This is obviously a way for them to unscrupulously obtain capital to invest and make interest on "legally." Keeping a couple hundreds of dollars from countless people, how much do you think this company makes while screwing over those trying to find a new home?

The Employee that I talked to after calling for a refund "THE SAME DAY I WAS SCAMMED", kept telling me that "You don't understand" "You're having a hard time understanding" Why would there be anything to understand if your providing a legit service! If your in business then you know about the circle "Winners & Losers" no matter if your the "winning" business man or the "losing" business man, when your doing business the right way you make sure that what your selling is fully explained in lame terms as possible! So we now live in a world where anyone can provide a service with "terms of agreegment & conditions" & climb the ladder of success? Shame on us all.

American Standard Online rude customer service

When i contacted this business about rent to own home, they had quite a catch. Pay 199.00 to purchase listings for homes that you can rent to own, homes which are about to go into forclosure. I told the employee, why should someone pay that much money when you can go on free website such as homepath.com and gilmoreauction.com or even realtor websites to see the same things for free. She informed me that maybe i didn't think it was a deal because "i wasn't knowledgable enough about their program"-- yes that was a direct quote. For some reason i feel as if a used car sales man just tried to scam me telling me to put a deposit down on a car to find out the next day the car was sold to someone else and i can't get a refund on my deposit. People beware of this company, if they are rude to you while coaxing you to buy into their scam just think of what you'll have to deal with once you've engaged in business with them. If your looking for rent to own, look in reliable place. P.S. Their phone number is [protected]

They are now trying to use local numbers with their Craigslist posting. Like most, I didn't catch the name of the company. The current number I called --for information was 667.401.3510 and spoke with Richard. He wasn't rude and informed me of the $199 fee that covered the processing of legal documents to transfer the deed into my name. I told him I only wanted to rent so why would I pay the $199 since nothing should be transferred. He stated the $199 fee would still apply and you just wouldn't have the documents transferred into your name. I thanked him for the information and told him I would think about it. I googled, "website charges $199 to help you find a house to rent to own" and found the name of the company. I initially searched the provided phone number and came up empty. After reading the several reviews, I am thoroughly convinced this company is a scam.

Contacted this company for a list of "rent to own". Didn't catch the company name and when a gentlemen finally got on the phone with me I tried to ask him what was his company's name. He wouldn't let get two words out. All he did was keep asking for my information. After about three minutes of dodging or giving false info he asked for my credit card info and when I told him that I was just calling for information so that I could talk to my husband about it and could I please get the company name. He was like "yea uh-huh. It's American Standard." and then he hung up on me. Rude and snippy. Sounded too good to be true and it is. Here is a listing on craigslist that they are using. I just got off the phone with them as well. Now theres another number their using: [protected]. It did sound to good to be true. I even told the guy that and he said " well, yah, sometimes things sound like that." He reminded me that there was no down pmt, credit check, need to change the loan and he called the loan an "Assumable loan" where i simply take over the payments before the home goes into forclosure under the previous owners name to save their credit. I can only have gotten all the lists of places if I were a registered member and paid a one time fee of 199.00 for a title search and legal Documents needed and that it could be refunded after 90days as long as i followed the proper steps. He wouldn't go into those and said i dont want to waste your time if your not a member yet.. the pictures on CraisList look so nice and had a fancy border arounf it. I wonder where their taking them off of? Does anyone out there know of a reputable "rent to own" company? Please?

I just had the same experience. Their ad was on Craigslist. The guy was very rude. I actually called before to see if they participate with section 8 in their program. A woman said they did not. I called again to ask if it was possible for them to be compatible in the future, and the rude, curt man said they DID take section 8! When I told him about my previous experience, he said, "Well, we've had problems with section 8 because they whine about the $199 fee."
Anyway, I tried to find out if there was an office I could visit. He was rude the whole time. So I googled their phone number and saw these reviews. My suspicions are confirmed; It is too good to be true because it is a scam. Comments above have listed sites you can go to finds homes like this free of charge.

Americanstandardonline.com has been giving my personel information to potential buyers of my home for sale. They have told these potential buyers that iam in forclousure and they can purchase my home for half the asking price! I did not contact americanstandardonline.com to advertise nor have they contacted me! Iam guessing they stole info from craigs list or zillow. I've recieved letters from potential buyers asking to view my home, they have told me they already visited the house by driving themselfs and walked my property.

American Standard Online scam?

If it's to good to be true-it's not true. I have spent way to much time asking for simple information. Their "managers" are rude and fast talking. They are unable/unwilling to supply any information in writting. The agents only refer you to the web site, which doesn't answer any questions. They want the money upfront because " all the calls are recorded for mutual protection" I have contacted the FDIC, Corp Commission for the State of CA. and the Atty General for Oregon and CA. They have all reported that information outlining the product and services your $199.99 buys should be available on request. The managers are quick to circle back to the web site. They do not / will not give you answers. uestions that any normal person would ask make the agents agresive and borderline hostile. All the people who answer the phone are rude and pushy trying to close the sale. Maybe the nastiness is why I won't be using their "services"

wow! I'm glad it's not just me. I thought American Standard Managers were extremely rude. I am a real estate broker and couldn't believe the bull they were peddling so I had to see for myself what they would say on the phone. Three managers hung up on me because I was asking some tough questions... Poor people who believe them...

American Standard Online bait and switch scam

its a scam and if you signed then you know what it feels like to flush your money down the toilet so just call your bank and request a charge back (try not to take no for an awnser). don't bother with customer service they will bully you with big words like terms and conditions. thats just part of the scam so just call your bank or merchant account (visa mastercard discover or amex) they will be your best bet. tell them everything because it's a very easy way to get your money back and everything else is a waste of your time. if you did get into one these homes then just leave your name and phone number as a testimonial. p.s. don't feel bad just get your money back and the key word is charge back. remember that t.v. commercial that says your are protected against fraud by your visa or master card well you are thats your surest bet.

omgee! i just went through the same experience as you guys! i saw the ad on craigslist of a beautiful house 3 bed 2 bath..800.00 mth and it said no credit check and that was a plus for me because i am currently having credit issues.i called and talked to a woman named toni and she seemed so nice and i know i had to have asked her a ton of question because everything she said seemed too darn good to be true and knowing how badly me and my husband are wanting to buy a home she had me so convinced! after every question i asked she kept going back to ask me for my credit card info for 199.00 to see listings on the website. i told her of my previous scam experience with another company called "true pro homes". (they are scam artists also so beware of that company also) she told me i had nothing to worry about because all calls are being recorded and they are state fed. req. or something like that.i told her i was very leary about giving cc info out over te phone and payin g 200.00 for listings is outrageously expensive and she was like if you cant pay 200.00 for listings then a house payment may be to much for you, and we are looking for people who make good money also. and i was like no i can make a payment on a house but i refuse to pay for listings from a company i am not familiar with and do not wanna get scammed by you guys. and she said it is a 90 day money back guarantee if we happen to change our mind and go with another company. i told her i had to talk more about it with my husband because i felt uncomfortable about it. and so she gave me her direct line number and tell me she will keep my application for 48 hrs.and so i get on here and look the company up and see all these comments thank god for me finding this, so i call her direct number n tell her i change my mind and to loose my application n she was trying to still convince me to join them and started asking for my cc info again! i just hung up the phone. this company is tooo eager to get cc information that is a huge red flag! please do not let these B*stards scam you guys!

I just called last night and spoke to someone name Mark West. He was very nice and patient with me as I asked him questions. However, I am always leary about a company who is hesitant to tell me the name of their business and I was also leary that the name of the business was not on the craiglist site. I asked him the name of the company and he rattled off some name that sounded like "Your American Company" or some ficticious crap! I asked if they were registered with the BBB and he said yes. Also, after I asked the questions I needed to know, he started asking me for credit card information. He went about it so smoothly...he first said how do you normally pay for things, with a debit card, credit card, what? I said I normally use my credit card. Then he said for verification purposes, what is the expiration date on the card. I gave it to him thinking no biggie. Then he smoothly went on to ask for my credit card number by saying, umm so go ahead and read off your number to me, if it's a visa, it should start with a 4. I was like, hold on, hold on, I was calling to inquire. I never once said that I was interested enough to pay. I let him know that I would need to talk to my husband before I make a decision like this. He was nice about it and he was like, well you do want to rent a house right? I was like yeah, but I am not ready to pay you $200. So, then he proceeded to say that I would be able to get a refund as long as I met the "terms and conditions". I told him that I would call him back and he was okay with that. He gave me his direct line and I believe he gave me his cell phone # too. Oh well, too good to be true! I am not taking the risk!

I just got off the phone with Cynthia from american standard, they sure do sound convincing, however i asked why they dont have a main office where I live and she told me that the only person I will need to be in contact with is the home owner of what ever home I choose. She proceeded to tell me that the reason I can not look up the houses available before I pay the 199 fee was because they want to weed out the people that are serious and those that just want to waste their time. dont do it, walk away before getting played, and as sad as it sounds some of us are just going to have to rent until we can fix whatever credit problems we have.

I am a REALTOR® in Santa Monica and I was curious about rentals in my area. I saw an ad for a house that was rent to own, 3 bedroom, for $1220 a month. I wanted to know more cause I knew it had to be a scam. I called them and as soon as I mentioned I was a REALTOR®, their tone changed and they said they don't deal with REALTOR®. I wonder why. Anyway, just remember if something is too good to be true, it probably is.

American Standard Online unfair practices

I just want everyone to know that American Standard Online is scam. The owner Susan Quinn is the same owner as Anchor House Financial. About 3 months ago I responded to an ad on craigslist. The ad said if I have a job I qualify. No credit check and dowpayment required. When i called the operator he told me the exact same thing but then he told me that I had to pay $199.00 upfront for a title search to make sure when I move into the home I would be free any back payments. When I asked him when I would be billed he responded "only when you get into the house." With all the confidence in the world I gave him my credit card and he billed it immediately without my consent. I called back the customer service number 4 times and they kept on hanging up on me . They never gave me my money so I had to call my credit card company to resolve the issue. They changed the name of the company do disguise themselves. I already made a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and I also wrote to the California Attorney General. Don't make the mistake that I made by giving them your money. They claim to be a title company, but they are not even licenced to that. These people are some big time thieves.

I went through them cause they promised me that I would be able to find and get into a house. I sent 20 letters out and no response from any of them. I spent 199 and didn't even get a refund. Like they promised me. I'm a single mother of 2 and my finances are very limited. So that 199 means a lot to me.

I talked to this guy douglas collins last week about these homes as i am trying to buy a new house for a cheap price. He gave me the whole story about if you pay six payments on time then the title transfers to you! I asked him since i am self employed how do i prove it to the bank for the home? He told me just make a letter with my company letter head and that's it. I told him that i wanted to pay for the six payments on time all at once and he just said that would be good... I still felt uneasy about giving him my card number and expressed how i had to move money from my savings to the checking in order to do it, he waited patiently while i did that. After i hung up i still felt uneasy about it and googled them... That's when i seen all of these complaints! " i called my bank immediately and cancelled my card before he had a chance to run it for the 200.00!" thank god... And i called him back and told him i didn't want to do it anymore and that i reported the transaction to my bank.. Warning him that if he tried to still run it after i cancelled with him, he wouldn't get ###! That's how you take care of that!

I know many of you have felt abused or taken advantage of by this or similar companies. I called and spoke with Bob at American Standard Online and when he told me about the "registration fee" of $199 I didn't necessarily have a problem with that. He said it was to have access to the listings. I said I didn't really need to see the listings because I was just calling about the one house posted on CraigsList. But he explained the only way I could see get the address of the place was to pay the registration fee. I said, "Okay, but before I pay I'll need to do some research on your company, of course." He hung up on me. Obviously the house was a bogus listing to suck people like me in, and the company is a scam. I knew this before actually finding this complaint thread, so I wanted to add to it.

I too have been so desperate for a home, I feel for this scam. Thinking okay it sounded reasonable to find pre foreclosed home owners and help them out by helping me out. So I invested time, gas, paper, ink and stamps to come to a conclusion when all the letters I mailed out came back with NSN ! I then looked for reviews on this company and here I am. Tomorrow I am going to my bank and have them to dispute the charges. I have learned a great lesson. from now on I will research something before I give out my card number.
