craigslist scam company
Just called about a posting on Craigslist. It felt like a scam as soon as he asked "Is this something you think you'd be interested in doing?" Please. I work for a sales company. I know this close. I wanted to be able to see the homes before committing $200 to a title search. I asked about that and was hung up on. Called back and got someone different. Condescending and assuming "You don't have the money saved up." "You likely don't make enough to qualify for a home loan." HAH. So I again asked the question, and he attempted to sell me just like the other guy. He started looking up homes in the area I wanted and attempted to sell me. I got out of him that I can't see any home until I pay for $199. When I told him I wasn't interested he hung up on me. I wouldn't trust these guys with anything, let alone with money and finding me a home.

money refund
Me and my husband saleemah and ralph stevenson signed up for this service on december 17, 2012. It was orignally in my husband ralph stevenson name. When asked could it be transferred in my name; saleemah mccord; immediatley it was changed. We have found housing as of january 27, 2013. We have called for three weeks and all we want is our $199. 00 back as quick as it was taken off our debit card. We sent in cancellation letters. They recieved it through signed through mail from post office. Now we are being told that we need rejection letters. I don't have any rejection letters just letters sent back or wrong address. We have still looked after we moved and have not found anything for anyone to respond. There for we want our money back. We could sew and will if no one is wanting to give us back our money. You can reach us by email. [protected]@gmail.com.
I also got scammed. Was told if not fully satisfied could get refund after 90days..no questions asked.
is there still a lawsuit going on for american standard they just did the same thing to me been 90 days all letters got mailed back to me address unknown now they wont give me my money back
I want in on the in on the lawsuit, they rip me off too. I 'll sign up for it, lets get it started people...
I just started mailing out letters. But originally I was not told I would be dealing with hunting down the home-owners, or waiting for them to call your company, just so I could get in a home. Yes, we are gullible, because we are desperate to get in to a home. They are a rip-off, and i wish I had not fallen for the bate!
Now that I have read these above comments on the company, I do not want to wait the 90 days to find out if the company is legitimate or not.
DO NOT DEAL WITH AMERICAN STANDARD THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF!
American Standard online employees lie to the clients in order to get your bank card and the tell you that the money is refundable however the never refund. DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE. I never received my refund after I have to wait the 90-days.

total scam
It's definitely too good to be true. ASO is complete ###. They charge you $199 with the promise that you will receive a refund after 90 days if you don't have any luck finding a house that is nearing foreclosure.
After 90 days of NOTHING, no responses from homeowners, no help from ASO, nothing - I called to get my refund. But wait, you have to have at least 5 denial letters and you have to submit your request via certified mail. After that, you will get a check AFTER 30 days. What happens if you don't hear ANYTHING from the homeowners, you're out of luck. ASO doesn't do a THING to help you either.
My advice: DON'T DO IT. You can kiss that $199 good bye. Down the drain. Waste of time and money. I hope they go out of business.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
yes. I agree. I called the representative today and asked her what if I don't get a denial letter back from the home owners. She said I should probably put a self addressed stamped envelope in the letter to the homeowner. such a rip off. they already know most people will throw the letter away!
conartist, sleeze bag, hit man
Saw Craigslist advertisement, phoned to investigate. Guy asked about my income and what I was looking for. He checked his data base and told me there were 33 homes in my zip code and they were all very nice. Said I could qualify with my income and I asked him to cut to the chase and explain process. At which point he told me about $199.00 to my cc to access the list. I told him I didn't know him from Adam and what guarantees I had, he quoted their return policy. I told him I need proof that no homeowner going thru foreclosure wants to hand their house over to anyone. He said they didn't want to screw-up their credit. We all know no one gives a damn about their credit if they loose their house and equity. They certaintly will not hand over the keys to keep good credit. I wouldn't. During the conversation the guy asked about my martial status and told me he was having back surgery next week and needed someone to care for him. I replied that this was the nurses job to help him recuperate. He also proceeded to tell me about his success that he lived in Santa Barbara, ocean vies on mountain side. Told him I had a busy day and would call if I wanted to proceed. He blew-up my phone, every hour on the hour. Finally I picked up and told him they were a scam. I asked him for the contracts btw. his company and the homeowners, bank contracts with the FDIC since he claimed they were funded by and referrals to contact former clients. Ronald replied he would not sell his soul to the devil. I asked him what devil he was referring to and let him know that he overstepped the boundaries.
If this company is not a scam, they behave like on, smell like one and implement tactics of one. Women beware, the men will prey on you and if you are weak you will succumb. Don't fall for this companies' B.S. I didn't and you should not either.
They wouldn't refund $200 after they guarantee the refund after 90-days. they have their sales people lie just to make the sale.
they took my credit card number and charged me $199
They took my credit card number and charged me $199 and told me that I can get a refund if I don't move into one of the houses they were renting. Now when I asked for a refund, they ask me to wait at least 90 days. When I spoke to my bank, they told me that they cannot dispute charges more than 90 days old. I find a lot of similar stories of people online and they were scammed too. I urge you to blacklist this company and unauthorized any charges made toward this company.
They pretend to be dealers for foreclosed homes and advertise subsidized rates for homes on craigslist. They say their rentals are subsidized according to the federal regulations for that particular area.
bait and switch listing company
In February 2011, I was searching for housing on Craigslist. I ran across a picture of a house that I was interested in renting. After clicking on the link, I called the phone number on the web page. According to the sales pitch that I was given by Derek Smith, who also gave me his "direct line" to call him back, if I paid $200 I would receive a list of homes that were in pre-foreclosure. The next step would be to contact the home owner, who was likely desperate to be out from under the obligation of the home. Thus, I would contact the homeowner, who would contact American Standards Online(ASO), who would contact me. According to "Mr. Smith", I could easily be in a house as close to work as possible by April 2011 at a price I could afford. If I didn't, I would be able to get a refund. Apparently, I didn't see it for the sounds to good to be true scheme that it was. It was not a no-risk offer.
The information that "Mr. Smith" left out, was that when you send a letter to "Homeowner", it generally gets tossed in the garbage. The expectation is that you have to send out 40 letters to get a response. After you send out 20 letters ASO recommends that you send out SASE's with the form letters. The postage cost became prohibitive to continue when I was getting no response. The only responses I ever got were 4 letters returned by the post office because the houses were already vacant. The customized searches I was supposed to get took 2 reminder calls and were not in the time promised. The refund was denied because homeowners did not respond. I ended up renting an apartment instead. I complained to the attorney general, who declined the case. Craigslist has also not responded.

rent to own houses scam
The company: American Standard Online advertised on Craigslist for Rent to own houses. The Customer Service was so nice and will encourage you to join and pay $199.00 so you can access their fore-closure houses in your area. I sent 40 letters and until now for 3 months nothing. I called them and wanted to refund the money, but they said they have the Terms and Condition of Refund. You must have 5 denial letter form the owner of the houses and wait for 90 days. So Do not join them and pay that amount.
I do'nt know if I can still refund my money. So meaning to say THIS IS A SCAM.
American Standard-! First and foremost, the name America should not even be there as America stands for Justice and this a scam from the start. The tell you that you will get your money back 100%, but they don’t tell you the process. The first thing they go after Homes that are going or have gone under Foreclose they want the CLIENT to contact the home owner! REALLY they are already going through rough times with possible home taking away now they want the Client to reach out to the depressed, aggressive, and possible danger of the homeowner losing the home to see if we can take over the payment! if they don’t agree and they need to write a letter----- LETTER from them seriously they will not do this and not only they wanted a letter of denial but they want 7 letter of denials- LOL really this is a joke- American Standard took my money at the time of need and wasted my time looking for something that will never had worked out- AGAIN THIS IS A SCAM they will get what they deserve as we live in a country that is justice! Don’t fall in the same trap that me and my Husband fell in, do your research before giving money to this people-

scam
These People are a huge scam. They say its not, and they promise you a refund after 90 days. But it is a total SCAM. I'm going to keep this short because its pretty much the same story, that everyone else has already said. I was tired of arguing with the "manager" and playing games, so I just went straight to my bank and filed a claim and also printed out 7 pages off the internet saying how American Standard Online is a Craigslist scam Ventura California. So do your research before you pay $199. I didn't and look what happen, but I am going to get my money back thanks to filing a claim with my bank. American Standard Online needs to be shut down ASAP!
This is the link that will explain everything.

I used American Online to get information about what houses where available from distressed owners. Almost all my letters have come back to me as undeliverable. I haven't heard from a single home owner, so I have asked for a refund from the manager. They are pretty friendly and courteous on the phone, but the information they give us is practically worthless! The houses are usually in pre-closure and are for sale with a realtor. So, don't use American Standards Online, they are not really helping people get a house or connect you with the owner.
I will go to my bank and file a complaint to get my money back. I'm sorry that I trusted them.
scam!!!
This Company Scammed Me and my Husband!...they said we could get our $199 back if we didnt find a house and when we repeatedly tried contacting them and sending them letters about wanting a refund they just didnt respond or lied about calling us back.
I signed up and within an hour I realized that most of the addresses were non-existent, couldn't verify the address and that several houses were on the same street. The whole block couldn't be in foreclosure! It's true that they don't disclose that you are at the mercy of 5 owners providing letters that their home is not available. Ridiculous. I called Citibank and reported the company as making a fraudulent charge even though I had given them permission to charge the card. I explained the situation to Citibank, they reversed the charge, closed my account and issued a new card. It may be that they're legitimate but there are degrees of legitimacy. I suspect that of the thousands and thousands of addresses there may be one that is looking to have someone take over the title and payments. I am also reporting them as scam to Craigslist but I dont' think it will do much good. Best of luck to you all.
C.G. in West Los Angeles, CA
American Standard Online is HUGE FRAUD! They are getting away with stealing from unsuspecting people who give their money hoping to find a foreclosed home. I talked to a Doug Williams. (If that is really his name?) He didn't listen to my case or that I had not even used their services once! He was so busy explaining his policy which is complete bull. They send these documents to your bank explaining why the customer cannot cancel the charge from their credit card. The banks actually fall for this Scam! You will never get your money back. I am currently doing my research. Apparently they have over 50, 000 complaints, and still getting away with this. I am turning this information over the the FEDS!
Scam they get your money dont do anything for you. They are on craigs list for house rentals. They give you a list of foreclosed houses and want you to write letters to the people to try to take over payments and assume the loan.Hello these people lost there house they could care less they are not going to get back to you. This company is a joke .Contact your credit card company they helped me get most of my money back 179.00.They set up a 3 way call so i talked to the company with Capital one .They charged a transaction fee .
fraud
American Online is definitely a SCAM company. I called there and asked a few questions, the customer services person directs you to this site, and while your at the application log in, he goes and ask for your credit card information.. just to get you THAT CLOSE... that even sounds fishy... how or why would anyone invest 199 into a business and you dont even know that the service will work for you? Thats completely insane. Any professional business will show you their product to lure you into doing business. This company sell false dreams, and I dont know a single soul that has had thgis program work for them.. even lawyers advise against it
its a scam! Shame on you poeple, taking hard working people's money. No good will come to you and last for your actions. All money isnt "good money"!

fraudulent activity
Hey, so basically I saw the ad. I was curious but figured it was probably a scam. I called them up, asked them who they were found what their "program" was. I then asked some key questions. Are you realtors. No, we are brokers. So you are all licensed. Yes. Where are you. Ventura CA. What is your brokers license number. No reply. The person on the phone laughed said I was the first person to ever ask him that. I laughed as well because I know that if he's calling himself a broker but doesn't have a brokers license number then he's full of it. I finished the call and he never did give me his broker license number.
Long story short, if someone is claiming to be a broker, real estate agent, or any agent that is looking after the consumers interest then they are licensed. They may be licensed through Nevada, but they will have some kind of licensing. If they don't have that then you can bet your bottom dollar that they'll be taking you for every last cent that they can squeeze from you. And remember even if they do have licensing it doesn't mean that they aren't crooks, however you can look up their information, file complaints against them and get their licenses revoked if they are crooks. In other words crooks usually don't have or get licenses, just like drunk drivers don't have or get driving licenses.

refusing to give back money that is owed
i was told i would receive my money back from american standard after 90 days of course according to bank rules i am not allowed to receive any money back after 60 days so what they pulled was well planned. they claimed i need 5 denial letters but their are no way to receive them because the houses that you sent out contact letters to where mostly empty house you had no idea where they lived. DO NOT GO THROUGH AMERICAN STANDARD ONLINE THEY ARE NOTHING BUT A SCAM AND ARE ONLY OUT TO GET YOUR HARD WORKING MONEY.
I called this company and started asking alot of question... They hung up on me! He just kept asking for 199.00 down!

scam!
This is a scam - taking people's well-earned money and making them believe they can help you find a home and move in within 2-3 weeks. Little do you know you'll be paying $199 to mail out form letters to people who may or may not know their on this list / database. You won't get any names or phone #s - just addresses and maybe a balance or value of the house. But, there is a money-back guarantee - sounds good, right? NOT! You have to get 5 denial letters and wait 90 days. How can you get denial letters from people who don't know you, who are getting some form letter in the mail with the americanstandardonline website as the contact information? And, here you are trying to find a place to live and now have $200 less to help with deposits / moving expenses / etc. Don't get fooled like we did - they sound so convincing on the phone. Too good to be true.

fraud - abuse against retired disabled senior vet
Retired - disabled - senior - vet trying to find affordable housing living on ssdi. Contacted american standard online. Life everyone else after the fact, found they could not assist me with anytype of senior community housing. Folks we wrote were not even aware they were on a list. They are in same situation millions of americans face now - affordable housing foreclosure. Company staff very experienced in fraud, deception etc. Wrote to ventura, ca aka home office and emailed - nothing. Ignored. Called [protected] who gave me the same number listed online. Followed all cancellation procedures except they said, "registered" mail. I can't afford the expense - besides, us post office does their job. I need the money, like everyone else, except, it was medication money. Sometimes we have to choose between a roof over your head or medication. Does anyone out there starting a "class action suit" or do you have an actual address / name / phone for their corporate headquarters board members. Fruitless to continue writing, mailing, emailing and calling, to say the least. Those who said they helped - show us the proof. Didn't question fighting in vietnam and i am a proud american retired senior - why does american standard online hurt other americans who are only trying to get by.

refund
Watch out for ads on craigslist! Don't give this company your $200!
Originally i was searching for a home to rent or rent to own on craigslist.com. I came across this advertisement for pre-forclosed houses for rent so i called the number listed. When speaking to the gentleman on the phone (Bob), he stated i had access to this site for pre-forclosed homes and if i didn't find a place in 90 days i could get a full refund. He took my payment of $200 and stated i would be receiving an email with access to this site www.Americanstandardonline. Never once did he state any other policy over the phone. The site is ridiculous, all it has is a little information and a google maps street view of the houses. Some of these views only show the rooftops! If i wanted to go look at a house from the street or roof i'd drive over there or go onto googlemaps on my phone! Of course i didn't know about all of the issues with this company until after the fact. When calling today, i first spoke with a gentleman who said that in order to cancel the account, i'd have to wait 90 days and have 5 denial letters for houses. When i heard this i thought to myself, "bob never told me this before he took my payment and signed me up." i asked to speak to a supervisor because the first representative said that "that's policy" and that it's stated in the policy. I spoke with a woman supervisor who practically made me feel like an idiot, stating that when you log into the site for the first time it has you accept that you agree to the terms and said i obviously am upset with myself for being irresponsible. She didn't have any answers for me so i told her, "have a nice day" and hung up.
I've filed a complaint with bbb and hoping on a response this week.
yes the same thing just happen to me . Every Time i call the guy he changes his name i filed a complaint to with the BBB and waiting on a response, that's sad people sit at home not doing nothing with them self and scam people well i learned my lesson and I'm very disappointed with my self but I'm just put it in god name ...wished i would of done my research first
rent to own
My husband and I were looking for a home to rent on craig's list. We saw an add that said take over payments, of $915.00 for a 3bedroom 2 bath home we were just so excited, it was exactly what we were looking for, we could have our dogs and rent that we could afford. So we decided to call it conected us with your american standard, we asked for the address and were told that if we joined we would be able to have that address plus tons of other homes in our areas of intrest, it would give the address and we would contact owners or banks through an email letter and they would contact american standard and set up appointments so we could view the homes. The lady(Rhonda) said it would be a fee of $199.00 and that would pay for the contact info. so we paid them the 199.00 and then my husband went to work and he told someone what we did the told him it was a scam so then I look online and see all these people who were ripped off. I called american standard and asked for a refund (doug) tells me that I can get one in 90 days, no I want it today, well you logged in and you had to read the terms and conditions there were no terms and conditions that came up he argued with me saying there were and I said there werent if you are a legit company just give me my money back, you need to wait 90 days I said either you do it or my bank will file fraud charges and get it back that way. he than says it wil take 24 to 48 hrs because the payment is pending once it goes through they will reverse it back and cancel. Im not gonna trust them Im still going to have my bank reverse the charges also. PLEASE DONT TRUST THINGS YOU CANT SEE ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECK BUSINESS'S BEFORE YOU PAY THEM! I will not ever pay for a service up front again until I check them out first.

Dumb ###...
I believe the real estate market in Seattle is very different from Cincinnati. Too many scammers here!
I think that people just don't listen very well these days. I called the number from craigslist and found that the person who explained the process of the program was very informative. They told me that it was not going to be like getting a real estate agent doing all the work for me. And that is why it is inexpensive, also they said I need to give them my information for the protection of the owners because they could still be living in the home I might be interested in. I was very satisfied with the quality of listings provided and I am a very happy costumer. I would recommend this program to anyone who is not able to get into a home with credit checks and or money down. You do have to do the homework to find the right home. Anything that is a good deal needs to be chased after, like a dream. Its not right to complain about something if you didn't search hard in the first place.
There are too many of these type of ads in Craigslist. They say they can help, but they are targeting those who need help the most. Only a scummy company would take advantage of poor people just trying to keep a roof over their children's heads. someone should "go postal" on these scammers!
bad customer services
I called them to help me look for a home. When i called the man i speak with told me i was approved with no credit check if i had a job i had a home. Then he asked for my credit card info i asked why he said when i find a home they will bill me then for 199. 00 only when i find a home. When i called customer service they tell me i have to wait 90 days before i can get my money back and the man i talk to didnt tell me that if i new that i would have never gave him my info they are a scam and stay away from this company

Oh wow i just moved to Ft Lauderdale, and was checking out the community flyer;Flyer.com, when i came across the add I called this number [protected]. I called it and i spoke with a guy named Ralph, he said he was the manager, and after explaining how i could own a rent to own house, he procede to ask my credit card info, I then told him I did not have that kind of cash now, He seemed a bit pushy, He then gave me his direct line, which is [protected], He told me to call when i have the cash and if i dont get him leave a message, he is usually at meetings, and will return my call in 5 mins usually. I proceded to read unline reviews bout them and this is what i find.. There is that television show To catch a preditator, they also investigate other stories exposing deception, I will try to see if they would take that story, Lets see who is behind that Scam if it is.Interesting show i enjoyed the ones where the Nigerians try scaming investors. A dollar is too hard to come by now a days man! Any one who is willing to inveestigate and talk leave a message and i will write back..
What has happened to you has happened to my husband By americam Standard, we are still trying to get our money back since 12/28/2010, they told us we have to send 5 certified letters to home owners, we spent over $30, we got back the letters we sent, 1 never came back until over 30 days later, no one has contated us, so I called and they told us we have to send the letters to them otherwise we won't get our moneys back, so I waited 1 1/2 months after I mailed the letters to them, still no moneys, calld today 05/31/11, I called 3 times today and no manager ever called me back, I was told a manager will call you back in 15 to 20 mins, well no one did finally I got to speak to Doug Williams if that is his real name, then he tells me I have to have 5 deniel letters from 5 home owners, or we wont get our moneys back..at this point don't know what to do but contact the better Business Bureau at this point...any Ideas?
scam
I too have been scammed by American Standards online. As of today the company is giving me the refund of $199. Persistence is the key. I called them about 10 times and I had my banks fraud dept call them and spoke 3 way with American standards. I kept telling them that the State of Ohio has a 3 day contract cancellation. This states that anyone who makes a contract with a company has by law 3 days to cancel the contract without reason needed. So pursue that refund with all you have! Thank God I am getting it back and I pray that you will too.
