Hey there, I wanted to share my experience with Automax Preowned
Hey there, I wanted to share my experience with Automax Preowned. So, I recently reached out to them about canceling my GAP insurance and getting a refund. I sent them a letter and an email on August 10, but it's been over 3 months now and I haven't heard back from them. I even have all the certified letters and emails to prove it. It's really frustrating because I was hoping to get my refund sooner.
I bought the car 10 days ago and the salesman, ***, said it would take 2-3 biz days to get the title in the mail
I bought the car 10 days ago and the salesman, ***, said it would take 2-3 biz days to get the title in the mail. But the dealership still ain't got the title, and I don't get why they didn't have it in the first place. I've heard lots of folks complain 'bout this happenin' with Automax before. They promised I could drive the car off the lot the next week after I bought it.
I bought a car from Automax Preowned a month ago, but they still haven't paid off my trade-in
I bought a car from Automax Preowned a month ago, but they still haven't paid off my trade-in. Now I'm stuck making payments on both vehicles, and nobody can tell me where the payment for my trade-in went. I talked to the local office, but they don't have an answer. They did give me a tracking number for the payment, but it hasn't reached my other financial institution yet. I need assistance in getting my trade-in paid off so I don't have to keep making payments on a car I don't own anymore. Alternatively, they could just give me my trade-in back.

In August, I purchased a used car from Automax Preowned
In August, I purchased a used car from Automax Preowned. They charged me $7000 for it. When discussing finances, they recommended GAP Insurance since I paid no deposit. They quoted over $800. I verified with my insurer if necessary for an older, less expensive vehicle. They advised against it. I informed the insurer, who confirmed it wasn't compulsory. Automax didn't respond to my calls, so I visited them. They apologized and had me sign to refund the GAP Insurance. Yet, after a month, there's no update on the refund.
I bought a car from them, but I live in ***
I bought a car from them, but I live in ***. They said I could leave my old car there instead of driving it back to *** and then back to Mass to get the truck. They were supposed to deliver the truck to my town office for registration, but they didn't. The sales rep and manager say I'm wrong and didn't understand, but that's not true. My dad was with me and heard the same thing. The person who brought the paperwork said this has happened before and the dealership always denies it. The staff lies to customers and if you have questions, they talk in Spanish in the back. I won't do business with them again and others should know how they treat people and don't keep their word. I work in sales and I wouldn't have any customers if I treated them like this. I doubt they actually fixed the 4 new tires and paint imperfection like they promised.
On June 3, 2022, I bought a car from Automax Preowned
On June 3, 2022, I bought a car from Automax Preowned. There were a few small things that needed fixing before I could take the car. One of those things was the passenger side turn signal, which had to be fixed for the inspection. I went back to pick up the car on June 9, 2022, but only one of the repairs had been done. The turn signal was still broken. We made an appointment to bring the car back to fix the turn signal and the other things that needed attention. When I brought the car back, they told me that no appointment had been scheduled. The dealership is about an hour and 15 minutes away from my house. My husband talked to the Service Manager, and he said to take the car to a local service station and Automax would pay me back. So, I took the car to a local service station, got the repairs done, and sent the bills to Automax. I never got a response from them, even though I called multiple times. I want to be reimbursed for the repairs that I had to pay for, which came to a total of $336.89.
I bought a 2017 car from Automax Preowned on July 21
I bought a 2017 car from Automax Preowned on July 21. The salesman assured me they would perform the 40k mile service as part of the sale, noted on the dealership's 'we owe' form, and I provided a printout of the service requirements. On July 31, I emailed the service manager the same list. Living 6 hours away, they waited to deliver the vehicle before informing me on August 6, that Automax doesn't offer that service. The car arrived on August 4. If the service wasn't available, it shouldn't have been promised. A local dealership charges $1,148.89 for the service I was promised. Their deceit is evident as my inquiries about the service were never met with any indication of a problem. The salesman no longer responds to my emails, perhaps thinking distance will make me drop the issue. I have kept all relevant documentation.
I bought a 2016 *** from Automax Preowned in January
I bought a 2016 *** from Automax Preowned in January . They offered a 90-day warranty and I also purchased the extended warranty. The dealership advertised the car as accident-free and priced it at $13,000. However, when I signed the contract, they didn't inform me that the total charge would be $21,286.24.
After reading the car fax, I discovered that there had been an accident. The sales representative assured me that the damage had been fully repaired, except for a dent that I agreed to pay for out of pocket. But just one month later, I noticed that the bumper grill had completely popped off and the bumper was loose. The paint was also chipping off due to a bad paint job. Additionally, there were 2 open recalls, the tire pressure light and coolant light were on, the engine was making a humming noise, and the struts needed to be replaced.
I informed the dealership about these issues, but they told me that they don't handle recalls or damage repairs. In the second month, they had to close due to COVID-19, so I couldn't reach them until April. When I finally did, they gave me the same response about not handling repairs. I took the car to a body shop for the necessary repairs, but the dealership only agreed to cover the cost of the struts.
In August, I requested a refund and cancellation of my contract. However, they refused and said they couldn't fix the problems with my vehicle. I am now demanding a full refund because I informed them about these issues early on during the purchase. I feel like I was misled, overcharged, and lied to about the condition of the car.
I bought a car from this dealership 25 days ago and they gave me temporary plates
I bought a car from this dealership 25 days ago and they gave me temporary plates. I traded in my old vehicle and told them I wanted new plates. They called me initially and said my registration was ready, but the DMV made a mistake and transferred my old plates instead of giving me new ones. They asked me to bring my old plates when I picked up my new registration. I told them they already had my old plates because I left them on my old vehicle. Later, they emailed me and said they found my license plates. On Tuesday, I went to the dealership and they only had one of my license plates. They couldn't explain where the other one was. They gave me my registration, but it was for my old vehicle. I pointed out the mistake and the guy said the DMV messed up again. He said if I got pulled over, my plates would be registered to my new car, not my old one. I told him I asked for new plates on my paperwork and paid $250 for registration. I don't feel comfortable with one old plate on my car and registration for the wrong vehicle. He assured me everything was fine, but I still feel uneasy. One of my plates is missing and my registration doesn't match my new car. My husband and I have tried calling, but they keep giving us the runaround. All I want is new plates and a registration that matches my new car.
I want the money for my warranty $2400
I want the money for my warranty $2400. The car was still under factory warranty when Sold none of the warranty should be kept by the business because the warranty wasn’t even into the mileage range of being activated. I paid for the top extended warranty $2400, which is really a service contract, of course it is not referred to as anything other than an extended warranty until after purchase. It’s a very misleading sales tactic. If you try to call this business in order to speak to someone about these issues they will literally hang up in your face, over and over. They will transfer you around the Business just hoping you hang up I’m assuming. It must be like a game of hot potato over there. They will transfer you to someone at another location, someone who is not who you asked to be transferred to. A lot of them end up with ***. Not sure who he is but I’ve heard his voicemail a lot. I specifically met with *** but have not heard any word about the refund of my warranty. When I brought in the paperwork I was told I needed a newer odometer reading, so I sent another one. I can’t get in touch with anyone at the warranty company to find out any information either, the dealership the warranty was purchased from. The whole thing feels deceitful, dishonest, and dirty. I asked for photocopies of the paperwork submitted and I was told no. Really, I should have photocopied them myself. I should have known at this moment something was wrong. They will probably say this is all in the fine print or something. But I’m pretty sure it doesn’t say “after you buy this, we will do our best to make sure you aren’t able to recoup any of this money either through service or through refund. We will make it nearly impossible to contact the correct employee, we will fawns you on a wild goose chase, we will hand up in your face. Anything to deter your efforts. After you sign we will exclude you from any discussions on the matter and decide what’s best for you without your consent or inclusion in the discussion. Your money is now ours, it’s a secret, go away now, while we run away laughing in your face all the way to the bank”. Shame on You!
