newfoundland puppy
My family and I purchased a male newfoundland puppy from Laura in fall of 2019. a week later I messaged Laura about the loose patella I felt and asked about her opinion of it. she was very vague and replied it was just part of the large growth spurt of a newfoundland. well a week after that our puppy slipped on the floor and now he has a permanent limp. our vet said surgery is needed due to the severe luxation of the patella which is genetic. I messaged Laura with the paperwork from my vet to where she accused me of doing wrong with the puppy in every way. keep in mind I am a show breeder myself and I know better. I also know loose patellas are genetic and she refused to acknowledge any wrong or that it was a genetic issue. looking back on her speech when we picked him up about having to carry him everywhere and not let him do too much is a coverup to prolong the reveal of how bad the patellas are. now we have a puppy needing surgery and will suffer the rest of his life with this GENETIC issue and Laura does not care and suggested things to remedy it but not solve it with the exception of a surgery of $4000 to a specific place in MD. I told her a total of $10k for a puppy like this is not okay to do to anyone. she needs to realize what she is doing to her breed. Very sad for everyone especially the dogs.
My complaint below was marked as resolved yet I was never contacted by either the breeder or the website to come to a resolution. Not sure how it is able to be marked as resolved. I only post this for future buyers to note.

male newfee puppy
Me and my wife bought a male puppy from Laura Raider, we were supposed to have gotten the puppy at 9 weeks but turns out that the we could not get him until he was 12 weeks old she stated that he had some kind of blood disorder and that her vet had him on medication to correct it, so when 12 weeks finally came we came and picked up the puppy, my wife signed the contract with Laura and in the contract she had if the he develops hip dyspepsia that she had to return the puppy to be put down and a new one would be given in its place. Laura's only health guarantee is to put the puppy down not really a health guarantee, and lets not forget the vet that Laura has the puppies examined at is the kind of vet that you scratch my back and I will scratch yours, in Lauras case she know that she raises sub standard puppies so she says great things about the vet and in turn the vet says great things about her. Win Win situation for both. So I finally made contact with Laura and told her how much money we have spent because she sold us a lemon puppy (which she denies by the way) after some conversation Laura agrees to give me and my wife a new puppy since we had all the issues that we had with the first one that we bought, so Laura said that she would have some puppies ready to go in Dec 2017 in which it was August 2017 when I contact her, she said I will call you when they are ready and we could come and get one and that I would along with my wife have to sign a contract for the new one in which I agreed. My wife was look on some dog selling sights and whose dogs did we see on these sights none other that Laura Raiders dogs when I called leaving several messages for Laura to call in which she never returned my call. After this I said that she just was not going to give us a puppy like she promised. A few days after I had left a vm for Laura to call I received a phone call from the Lincoln County Sheriffs Dept. stating that Laura had put in a complaint against me saying that she was in fear I am not for sure what she was in fear of as I live 5.5 hrs away. Laura Raider is a liar and a thief, I advise anyone thinking about buying anything from this one to run the other way. If you should have any questions that you would like to ask please feel free to call me Ron Raynor @ 703.626.5911 and I will go more into details and the problems our dog has been thru.
That's a lie nothing has been resolved with Laura Rader in fact she called the sheriff on me stating that she was in fear of her life which is another lie to the many that Laura Rader has told, I can't resolve it with her because I have been told not to communicate with her, I am also proceeding with legal actions against her.

Bad breeder, dogs with genetic defects.
Purchased a puppy in 2015. Out of a litter of 9, 3 died immediately, one has severe SAS (heart disease), and at least two others including mine have genetic juvenile cataracts and will be blind without very expensive surgery. Laura Rader pulled a "buyers contract" together off the internet, that provides no protection for the owners. (unless you want to euthanize your pup). She has a scary temper and will try to bully people into doing what she wishes. Her championships on her dogs are meaningless as she stuffs shows to pad classes, increasing points earned. Avoid at all costs. There are decent breeders of Newfoundlands out there, SHE is not one!

Puppy not delivered after making payment and no refund
I made a deposit for a Newfoundland puppy (female) in late November for my family for Christmas with Laura Rader (owner) of Avalon Bey Newfoundland (ph# [protected]). She had told me that she thought the puppies would be ready for their homes around the 2nd week of January. I touched base with Laura several times during the waiting period and she didn't have a solid date on pickup times for the puppy due to waiting for the puppies to see if they would past their cardiologist test. On Christmas Eve Laura contacted me and said the pup would be ready at the beginning of the year, I explain to her that based on what she told me earlier I was expecting the 2nd week of January and at the beginning of the year I would be out of town and would it be okay to pickup our new pup when we got back from vacation. She agreed that would be okay and mention that she was taking a couple of puppies to be delivered in Columbia, South America and that I could pick my pup up the following weekend. Then Laura called back to ask me if I could send more money for the puppy in which she already had a deposit. So I agreed to send more money and told her that I would pay the balance on pick up considering I never met her face to face. Well while Laura was out of the country she had her husband to call me (whom I have never spoken to before) and tell me that the puppy had been sold and sorry about our luck and sorry that things couldn't work out. I would never recommend her at all for doing any type of business with, especially know that this was a gift for my family for Christmas. So to this day she has not returned my deposit. This woman who is a school teacher and dog breeder should be ashamed of herself. Never do business with her.

Crane1979,
I believe I have a littermate that has the same issue.
His first surgery was $7000. His second knee will be done later this month.
I'd love to discuss this with you.
that is so sad that she knows about this problem. our boy is now in his second surgery to correct this. we feel heartbroken watching him with each recovery and the limping even prior to it. I sent you a facebook message.
