Where do I begin? 1) the app is always undergoing "planned maintenance" nearly every day, making me unable to view my account balance when I need to. 2) when I use the check deposit feature it takes DAYS for my funds to be made available. And I do not see any "funds availability scheduled" which would love to have access to so I can at least plan my deposits so I'm not waiting five days for my funds to be available. 3) this may not have anything to do with the app, but my card gets declined everywhere. Some places it works and other places it doesn't. Even when I have sufficient funds. I have no way of knowing either, I just swipe my card and hope for the best.
At the end of the day I would like to have my funds available sooner rather that later and be able to view my account balance without being met by a message telling me that the app is undergoing maintenance again.
Worst Bank Ever
It was so much better when it was Higher One. I do not know who these people are but first off they don't care about you and they barely speak English and sound bored when you are trying to explain stuff to them. They just had maintenance two weeks ago and now they are having it again and I can't use my card even though I have funds and it was stated that I could use my card during this. The site was supposed to be back up Monday morning at 9a.m. It's now 11:40 and I do t have access to my card. I called yesterday and they were telling me my card number doesn't exist then they were like oh we're sorry the server is down so we can't help. THIS IS NOT HOW YOU DO BUSINESS. I would also love to know why when the card is online, I can't use it from 12am to 5 am. When I'd have to work overnight I'd have to go find an ATM that wouldn't charge me fees so I could withdraw cash to have lunch money! Also most banks deposit your check at midnight but these folks make you wait until 5 in the morning. They are greedy, shady, outsourced, and uncaring.
Go somewhere else
I’ve had this bank since 2011 and they have terrible customer service. They are good with explaining their policies and procedures yet they are very inconvenient. There are no branches to withdrawal money or deposit money. If you want to deposit money you pay $5 at CVS or Walgreens and reload your debit card. They only have ATMs at these locations and it’s $3.00 plus the ATM fee if you don’t use an ATM at these locations. Forget about getting large amounts of money it’ll take a days! They just started offering savings accounts and it’s not a big deal. They don’t offer credit cards. They don’t have any good benefits I haven’t gained any besides getting interest payments of less than $1.00 and cash back which they just started. It’s $10.00 to replace a debit card that comes in 5-7 days time people don’t have to wait to access their money. They provide virtual cards that are no good. There is no other way to get to your money. I have had it with this bank I am closing all my accounts they aren’t worth banking with unless your a student getting refund deposits. That’s all this bank is good for. Go somewhere else.
No support for voiceover users
Note! This review is only for persons using voice over! This does not reflect the overall usage for other individuals!
One cannot view ones balance. Also, when setting up bill pay, it is very difficult! The selection of the recipients will not select with voiceover. Rendering the use of the bill pay useless for a voiceover user. I have brought these issues to the attention of higher one, but two updates later, and a voiceover user still does not have a fix. It could be possible that I spoke to the wrong person, and I hope that this review actually brings attention to these issues. If you are a voiceover user, there are workarounds, but it is a very tedious journey. You would have to take a screenshot of whatever it is you're trying to see, like your balance. then, import it into an OCR scanning software. A voiceover user should not have to go through these many steps just to see their balance, but if you are like me, then you will do what you have to do to see what you need to. The website is another workaround, but I like the convenience of apps. Unfortunately, this one is not convenient. I hope this review has been helpful for those using voice over!

It really is a great bank
An interest-bearing account that you can access Mobile or via desktop and once you get the hang of using it it can be a lifesaver. Granted it is no net spend account where you’re going to get your money before your scheduling to get it however the bright side is the card cost you nothing to use it as long as you deposit money monthly it won’t cost you to use it. It will not let you go past what you have in there so you don’t to worry about spending too much because if you don’t have the money it’s not gonna let you have any money and then if you have deposits taken right out of it automaticityIf there’s no money there to be had then you won’t have to worry about it going negative and them racking up service fees and late payment charges on both ends of your accounts. I’ve been a customer of those bank since 2011 and by far it’s a great bank. If you lose your card you can just turn it off until you find it just in case you it gets into somebody else’s hands and you don’t know just turn it off and then turn it back on when you find it it’s great it’s a great option. They’ll also give you three checks so if you need to write a check to somebody you’ll have three per year or however long to use which is kind of convenient sometimes. Also they let you direct apposite from just about anyone. I seen a lot of negative reviews about this bank those people just don’t know how to use the card to its fullest I have used every option of the card and I find it very easy to do and I don’t know what they are complaining about really hope this helps somebody.
I don’t recommend using their service
They nickle and dime you, I suggest getting a traditional checking account and having your money sent there. I accidentally decided to create an account with them because it seemed as they snuck where you would sign up with your own checking account. Finally found where to do it but I sent money a week ago to my checking account and it’s still nowhere to be found in my real checking account. Luckily, I only sent $5 because I was wary of what might happen. Did I mention they charge you $3, periodically to keep your account open. This company is just looking to prey on peoples money, especially students and people who can’t get a regular checking account. I’m just waiting to get my new card sent so I can transfer all my money into my regular checking account.
The money I sent to a bill hasn’t arrived in over a week now. They can state how they only offer 4 fees compared to most banks. My bank hasn’t charged me a fee in the 5 years I have had the account and money has ranged from a little to a lot. I’ve only had my vibe account for almost a month and have already been charged a fee. The developer contacted me an told all these things the app offers and how many students choose to use their product but as an actual client I deter anyone from using this over a traditional checking account at your local bank. This type of banking is no different than the banks being used by employers that issue pay cards with fees that you’re tied into, like getting charged for just keeping the account open ($3).
Sure it may not seem like much but when you do it to over the 2 million clients the developer stated in his response email, it adds up. Do yourself a favor and use a traditional checking account. I guarantee that most traditional banks offer the same services as this app claims to do and even more protection for unauthorized purchases. If you read down the line of reviews, it highlights the issues many of those 2 million clients have experienced.
Can’t be trusted!
I have been a customer for 10 years! I’ve always had problems with this bank but never to the point to go through the hassle of switching banks, up until now. I live on the west coast, and because this bank is located in the east it makes it very difficult to deposit or draw out large amounts of funds.
I had a check just a little over $3k which made it too big to deposit via the app, and I was told by a supervisor that I had to mail my pre-endorsed check to them. I told him I already wrote on the back of it, “for mobile deposit only” like the app tells you to do, and he said that would not be a problem! He also said I could have my funds the same day, as long as they received my check before 2 pm.
I spent $26 to overnight it and track it, the check was noted as delivered at 1:35 pm on a Thursday. I waited until Friday afternoon before I called and spoke to another supervisor. It took awhile to locate my check, at first I was told they didn’t have it before he quickly transferred me to someone else, that supervisor finally located my check and said it was processing and it would take another 48 hours!
Well it’s Monday, and guess what I got in the mail!? They rejected my check because I wrote, “for mobile deposit only” on the back of it!
I am out of work because of Covid, this check is my retirement funds that I was forced to cash in, and I waited over 2 months to receive! I owe bills, rent, my vehicle’s heater core just went out, and this heartless corporate machine of a bank rejected it for something they told me to do!
They told me I needed to have another check issued! That will take weeks! Luckily I called a local bank and they said they wouldn’t have a problem cashing it as long as the funds weren’t actually deposited, no matter what I wrote on the back. Now why in the hell couldn’t BankMobile do that!?
This bank is complete trash! I’m closing my account, and wouldn’t recommend them to my worst enemy. Wish I could give them a NEGATIVE 100 star review!
Worst Bank ever
I had a long explanation typed about how deplorable this bank is and I don't have the energy to conjure up that feeling but I'll try. If any of ya'll are smart out there, don't be like me and sign up with this bank. The appeal of no monthly fees and quicker access to your refunds does not ease the headache you'll have dealing with this company.
I opened my account about 3 weeks ago, after a week of my account being suspended for entering the info as listed for opening an account. Turns out it wasn't correct, and had to have a customer rep walk me through the process.
The initial debit card that comes with opening an account was suppose to have arrived last week, I still don't have it. It's been more than 5-7 days. I had a replacement generated last week, so I would receive it by this week (as they promised)... I still don't have it either.
I complained to them and they told me it could be the fault of USPS, even if that's a plausible reason, it doesn't quite work to blame them too much if you were given a specific date for receiving the card. I gave the USPS an additional day to deliver, it's the second additional day... still no replacement card.
I contacted them, yet again, to complain and their wonderful customer service gave me the offer to wait an additional week for the third debit card, I know I probably won't be receiving.
I don't know if there is a vortex between where I am and where my debit card is coming from, but things don't seem to be going my way. I'm a grad student, a hungry grad student, who wants to buy donuts from around the corner. I had cash money on hand to last until my debit card came through. The cash is gone and the the debit card is still not here. I don't know about you, but I'm at my wits end.
Don't be like me, go to a national bank with actual chains, chains that allow you to walk in and generate a debit card on the spot because they can. Unless you want to stare at an account full of money and not access it at all because all you have is a virtual card that doesn't even work with Apple Pay.
Update: I've had more issues with this bank and I would really love if they had a storefront or an ATM. Just complicated and a big waste of time. Their customer service is terrible and unhelpful. I reiterate the fact that when I'm done with school, I'm closing my account with them because there have been more flaws than benefits with them.

I didn't receive my card and now my money gone it's 0.00 balance. On [protected] University Refund was deposited $430.74 dollars #[protected]. On [protected] University Refund was deposited $1,193 dollars #[protected]. I ain't had no card and I didn't spend my money when I was waiting on it to come. I just want my money back I have kids to feed and bills to pay that I'm behind on. Southern New Hampshire University has paid me my Aid and its gone off my card

Inability to resolve account issues in a timely manner.
On January 2,2024 my account had a hold put on it due to a compromised Account. it states. I have 10 days from the date of The hold being place to turn in all verifications. They request in order to prove my identity and regain access to my account. first off I didn't receive any notice of this compromised account. Until almost the twelfth of january 2024...

I am a college student and my school uses this to distribute our financial aid. I do not qualify for many grants so my aid is in the form of loans. Every month this bank charges $2.99 in fees. Which doesn’t seem like much, but that’s money that I have to pay back to the state and for one semester that totals about $15. That doesn’t seem like a lot but for a poor college student that’s a tank of gas or a few meals. Shame on the school and this bank for charging fees for financial aid distribution. This just shows how broken our system is.

Useless Customer Service
First of all, you can’t understand anything anyone says and they talk so fast and try to rush you off the phone. Not only that, they keep sending you to the automated system like that’s helping any. My school sent my funds to them and they still haven’t yet to process them and nobody there knows nothing! I’ve talked to 5 different agent and all of them were useless and don’t know nothing about the refunds. I hate that my school chose this bank to process refunds. Won’t even let me talk to the people who actually process the refunds. Worst mobile banking app ever!

Logging in issues
The app hasn’t been working at all for 24 hrs. 9/10/2022 to 9/11/2022. There’s no number to call over the weekend for technical issues. I tried accessing my account through the webpage but it will not load. I have zero access to my funds at the moment.
Also last weekend I was completely blocked from accessing my funds due to the fact that I reached my limit of 300 per day. Has this happened to anyone else here?
Lastly, when I call the customer service line the agents never knows anything. They sound like robots, reading a repetitive pamphlet. This service lately has been AWFUL!

disappearing money
this bank is terrible . every morning i wake up with money missing from my account and i cant contact you guys or get a hold of you , i left several emails but nobody has yet to return them . its not just a couple dollars either its large amounts of money that are just disappearing from my account and i dont have bills to pay so it doesnt just take money from my account . the bank summary shows when i receive money but that money wont even touch my bank account but itll say it was deposited in my account and never show up . contact me back or give me my money please this is frustrating .

TERRIBLE BANK TERRIBLE APP
This is the least innovative app I’ve ever seen with some of the worst customer service and bs “procedures” the reps also never will tell you when you signed or where it says that info. They just turn the blame on you and go back to reading their terrible script. I call in for a simple request and it is the worst. The app literally is a mediocre hot mess. It is a knock off of their wix.com(free trial) website lol couldn’t afford some better website designers? And like you have to have the app to do certain things so like it’s the worst. By the way my 10 year old nephew could probably design a better app and website in 5 minutes.

Horrible Bank
This bank was forced onto me by my college. I was issued $800+ from FAFSA and I used this banking company to receive my money from. It’s been almost a week now and they still have my account on hold, all because my proof of residency wasn’t good enough. They accepted my social security card and birth certificate, but not my proof of residency (even though it had my name, address, and date on it). I have 3 days left to purchase my course materials or else I’ll fail my classes. I’ve been relying on FAFSA to purchase all these materials. I’ve also contacted customer support 5+ times now and I haven’t received a single response. Don’t use this banking company!

Tired of the lack of customer service
Seriously I drop a mobile deposit pay check from work and the next day I only get half of my paycheck? No charges out going or anything I call and ask where rest of my check is and they ask me 10 questions just to tel me they can’t verify that I am who I am...now it’s Monday still no money in account and my car payment was due with me still owing 23.00 and you guys can’t do something as simple as this? If I get any late fees or car repo, I will make sure you guys are liable for my loss...I will make sure to close my account and make sure to tell everyone not to use your bank. I have been with you for several years and it doesn’t do me any good.

TERRIBLE bank
I’ve been using BankMobile for many years, today was the last straw.
I called to raise my daily spending limit because I was picking up my car for repairs totaling $4,400. After waiting on hold for over an hour and a half I was told that “under new policy, you cannot raise your daily spending limit”. Which means I had to make a partial payment of $2,500 and leave my car at the repair shop to return tomorrow and finishing paying. This also leaves me with zero access to the rest of my funds for the day, no food for me!
How can they 1. Expect people (especially students) have two hours to stay on hold and 2. Withhold people’s own money from them?
Absolutely terrible human experience, I’m done!

Stolen money
My son had to get an account with BankMobile because he’s in college. He started out not having any issues. But about a month ago his account was stolen from. Someone accessed his account and took in increments of $11.68. It equaled out to be almost $580. And he’s been trying to get his money bank for the last 3 weeks. And no one is really doing anything about it. Seems to me you would monitor people accounts better. He wasn’t alerted until over 500 bucks stolen from him. Being in college every penny you have is needed. And some how his money is gone. And doesn’t know whether Bank Mobile is going to rectify this issue. I’ve seen reviews on the site where people had money stolen from their accounts. And BankMobile did nothing about. But gave them the run around. I know the money is protected by FDIC. So pray they give him his money back.
