Disappointing Experience with Birchbox
As someone who has been a loyal customer of Birchbox for years, I was truly let down by the recent service. The delays in shipping, lack of response from customer service, and receiving outdated boxes have left me feeling frustrated and dissatisfied. It's disheartening to see a once-beloved brand fall short on delivering quality products and service. Sadly, I have decided to cancel my subscription and will not be returning. I hope Birchbox can address these issues to regain the trust of their customers.
Awesome
I'm surprised to see the overall rating is less than 3 stars. I love this service and have gifted it several times. I cancelled it after a while just because I had purchased full size items of several of the samples I liked in my birchboxes. I still go to the site to re-purchase and for their videos. Some give tips on how to do your hair or the best eye creams, etc. I also love their point system. I actually got some things for free from using my points. I will probably jump on board again and will always keep in mind for gifts - for girls or guys.
Worth the $10 Splurge!
You get good quality high end products that never dissapoint. You get points for any purchase through their website, and you get points for reviewing the products you get on a monthly basis. I've also been able to get new favorite products that I have bought full size options for daily use, and sometimes I've save the products for travel size skin care options. I've visited their NYC location, and I was able to get a manicure, a free box with five samples, and one of their ladies helped me find a BB Cream that that complimented my skin tone, and for which I get compliments for all the time

Discovery specialists are awesome
So, I have had three encounters with bb discovery specialists. One time my sample arrived damaged, the second time I needed to return an ineffective product and the third time an item I ordered from the bb shop arrived damaged. Every single time the birchbox discovery specialists ( customer service reps) Responded quickly, professionally and resolved my issue. They replaced the damaged sample, refunded my money in exchange for the ineffective product and lastly, sent a replacement for the danaged full size product from the shop. They are such a great company and I am very grateful for the caliber of service they provide.
Nice site, lots of reviews, great incentives!
Birchbox does a good job sending incentives to people (points that can go towards purchases) for reviews on the samples that they receive. This makes reviewing totally worth it and the site has so many reviews you really feel like you can get a better sense of most of their products. Anything you receive in your Bircbox you can buy through the website.
The site is easy to use, simple, not too flashy, and they keep it clean. Customer support is awesome. Anytime I received something broken, they send a new box immediately.
I've come to find the experience rewarding and has exposed me to new products and brands that I wouldn't normally find.
I love birchbox!
I honestly love birchbox! Sure, every once in awhile I will get a sample that I will not use but overall I have found many many products that I love. I would not have found these products otherwise. $10 is a reasonable amount for these sample sizes. I have been a customer for nearly a year now and have never had any problems. You can't expect them to read your mind on what products you want, so I do understand that occasionally I may get a product I didn't necessarily like. Also, they will send you some trendy things (i. E.) blue eyeliner, which is fine by me because I am always up for trying new make up trends at least once. I highly recommend Birchbox for anyone that wants to try new beauty brands. I get so excited when my box arrives!
BirchBox is great
I am so sad to see so many negative reviews, especially about customer service. I have nothing but excellent feedback about customer service. I reached out to them twice and have been helped immediately. They are so nice and quick to respond and both times have been issues/user error on my end. In one instance I forgot to put the promo code in for a free product and did not realize until I completed my order so I reached out to the discovery specialist and they sent me the free product right away. I also receive my BirchBox fairly consistently each month and have received great products. I believe part of their goal is to send you high end and new designer products that you may not have ever tried before. They introduce you to these products based off your personal profile. How could people be so upset about this?!
Finally Appreciated
2016 I decided to try the wonderful but hit or miss world of subscription boxes. Birchbox wins my rave because the Customer Service was GREAT! Answered my questions quickly and you can tell it was not just a generic answer. I could tell a live person read it and she was so giddy I was like well you love your job. My first box was OK not a WOW but not a dud. I did not get one sample again Ms. Giddy CS Rep sprung into action by the end of the week it arrived. Also the lotion I told them I didn't like Almond scent Ms. Giddy CS sent me the scent of my choice. Sorry to be so long but the Customer Service was well worth the subscription price. So thumbs up I can't say anything bad about Birchbox. And my review is not coerced I was not bribed, or paid. Lol I'm just honest and I will always tell you the good and bad. I will however quit writing books and rambling.
A fantastic subscription!
Let me start by saying, I just came up on my one year anniversary with Birchbox and I am still in love with it! I was very surprised to read the negative reviews on here. The majority of them are people complaining about size or receiving products they would never buy. Birchbox is so amazing because of the fact that you are introduced to all of these great products that you would not necessarily buy for yourself! The beauty profile ensures that you receive the correct shade/formula for your skin or hair but beyond that, the point is to sample new products not receiving more of the ones you already know and love. I can't tell you how many times I thought I would absolutely hate something only to be amazed by how much I enjoyed it! If that didn't convince you then the points system will. Every month you review your box, you get $5 back to spend in the bb store and it adds up quickly! Use the link to start discovering new goodies for yourself!

I enjoy getting my birchbox each month
I enjoy getting my birchbox each month. I've been subscribing now for 2 years and some months I get an awesome box and some months, they honestly suck, but for $10 a month, I'm not going to cancel unless I have some big issue. I've never had any problems with my box. One month we got a survey about receiving outdated samples, so they gave us like 1,000 points towards purchasing products on their website (which I've done once). It was no big deal, and appreciated that they acknowledged and apologized for something I didn't even see! I even reuse the boxes. I have so much makeup and samples that I paint the outside of the boxes and use them to hold different makeup and samples! I also used some of them to wrap Christmas gifts :) They charge me around the 1st and I get my box around the 18th- always been the same. No complaints from me! I would recommend if you like receiving samples of products I can't afford or won't really use a lot of (like I'm not spending $30 on shaving cream, but I'll try it a few times!). Keep 'em coming!
As of today it has been 29 days since I first inquired about my boxes ,and 8 business days since my second
As of today it has been 29 days since I first inquired about my boxes ,and 8 business days since my second. All of which are well within the provided timeline. My September subscription box was returned to sender. My October box has not been shipped. I have reached out to customer support and waited 22 business days for a response and again heard nothing. No boxes have been delivered and no update from customer service. According to ftc guidelines you must have shipped the product ordered with in 30 days of the estimated shipping date,Or provide the consumer the ability to cancel and receive a refund along with a new estimated shipping date if able. You have not done either of those things for my first box and time is running out for octobers box as well. I have sent a challenge via my Visa card for the September box and would rather have had the item delivered and to not have to do the same with Octobers. I understand that there have been issues with shipping. I had no problem waiting but 2 months is completely absurd. And to top it off to have had no communication from the company regarding delays unless you log into your account and look. Which I did, then to be told to contact customer service and they will get back to you in 7-10 days. I assumed it was business days but even that is not specified. And has not been done. I am so disappointed as I have enjoyed my boxes and looked forward to their arrival every month. I had even recommended the company/subscription to friends because I was excited about it and loved the products. Needless to say I was willing to wait; be understanding and patient in hopes this would be resolved and it has not been. I have since cancelled my subscription and would love to either be sent the items from the October box or be refunded. I do not need anything else and would love for this to be resolved please contact me. This was my last email. Maybe it will go somewhere now?
I had a 12 month subscription. When it was time to renew or cancel their entire website was down and is still down months later. I never receive the last two boxes that I paid for and I never got a refund.
Oh my word, this business is a total scam operation. My elderly mother bought me this subscription now three years ago and they refuse to cancel the subscription. Its mostly junk they send, and its just taking up space in my house. My mom has tried to cancel, I have tried to help her cancel and nobody responds. I wish so much my mother would cancel her credit card and flag this company. Its like getting the monthly visitor you never want!
Birchbox Review: A Subscription Box That's Not Worth the Hype #truth
I've been a member of Birchbox for a few years now, and I have to admit, I'm a bit embarrassed about it. I signed up for auto-renewal the first year, and let me tell you, their cancellation policy is just terrible. You can only cancel within your renewal month, and when you try to do it online, the drop boxes don't even fill up properly. I had to request a call from a consultant just to get it done.
When I finally received the call, it was at 9:30 in the morning, and the girl on the other end sounded like she had just rolled out of bed. I mean, come on, at least try to sound awake and alert when you're calling paying customers. It's not like she's doing it for free, right?
Anyway, now I'm stuck with the same trial size products that I've been getting for the past three years, and I have no idea what to do with them. I usually save them up and give them to my tween nieces as stocking stuffers, since they're just starting to get into makeup. But honestly, half of the stuff is just tiny sample perfumes and dry shampoo that they're probably trying to get rid of.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the first 6-8 months of my subscription, but after that, it's just been a repeat of the same samples, even after I've tried to customize my preferences several times. If you're into little boxes (which are nice for organizing your drawers, by the way), or you just like the surprise of getting something in the mail, then Birchbox might be for you. But if you're looking for something more substantial, I would recommend skipping the monthly subscription and just putting $10 in a box on a top shelf somewhere. You'll be better off financially, and you won't be disappointed by the same old samples over and over again. #truth
Birchbox Review: Disappointing Experience with Slow Shipping, Spam Emails, and Customer Unfriendly Website
I'm not really sure where to start. I am a total beauty junkie and a VIB at Sephora. So after seeing Birchbox commercials ever day for months, I decided to sign up. The instant I did, I started receiving multiple emails per day to try products I've never heard of. The point of signing up was to receive samples first to see what I like and don't like, not to receive 3 SPAM emails per day. I ordered over a month ago and still no box. They sent me a tracking number 12 days ago and it's been sitting in the same place for all 12 days. A mule could have delivered it on foot faster, especially considering it's just ONE STATE away from me! Also, their website is just bizarre - seems like it was built by some kid who just got out of college - very customer UNfriendly.
Additionally, replying to any of their emails will get your an error message, nor do they provide an alternate "reply to" in any of their emails. Trying to submit a complaint online also does not work and when I FINALLY reached a human being this morning, I was told that their website is not compatible with IE. If that is the case, then how was I able to sign up on your website using IE? If your website is not compatible with a browser and the website detects that you are using that browser, a popup should tell you to use a different one - how is that so hard? I refer back to my previous comment about who built this farce of a website...
Anyway, I called today and told them to cancel my membership effective immediately. So after one month, I am out $10 and have received NOTHING. Well, nothing but frustration and irritation, which I could have found all on my own for free. Thanks for nothing! Worst company I've ever done business with. I mean, seriously, what kind of company sends out spam emails to their customers? And why does it take so long to receive a box that is just one state away? It's like they don't even care about their customers.
I was really excited to try Birchbox, but now I'm just disappointed. I was hoping to find some new products that I would love, but instead I just wasted my time and money. I don't think I'll be trying Birchbox again anytime soon.
Birchbox Review: Disappointing Customer Service and Failed Promises for Christmas Gifts
I was really excited to try out Birchbox and decided to place an order for Christmas gifts for over 6 people, totaling $400. I placed my order just one week before Christmas and I trusted that the items would arrive on time because all over their site they advertised "order by tomorrow for delivery before Christmas Eve". I ordered just one day before their cut off Christmas shipping. However, things did not go as planned.
After three days of placing my order, I noticed that I had not received a shipping confirmation email, which was odd because I had ordered items from Nordstrom's the day after and they had already arrived. It turns out that Birchbox had not even processed my order, let alone shipped it, and it was already the 22nd of December. I was charged $400 the second I placed the order, which was frustrating because Nordstrom's does not charge you until the order ships. I tried to reach out to Birchbox's support team, but it was near impossible to get a hold of them because there is no phone number, only email. They did not respond until after I sent three desperate emails, and the final email I sent threatened to go to social media to voice my concerns because of their lack of response. Sadly, that was the only reason they actually responded the next day.
The guy I spoke with assured me that it was shipping that night (on the 22nd) and it would be there by the 24th (Saturday). I asked if I could upgrade the shipping to 1 day because of their processing delay and errors, but he said he couldn't change it. Of course, I looked on Friday and my package was in South Carolina, and I am in California, so I knew there was no Christmas miracle that would get my packages across the US to me before Christmas. The expected delivery date showed Tuesday, 12/27. I emailed support on Friday to request a status update, but I did not receive a response until Monday, 12/26. This was total and complete BS! When you spend $400 on a site, they should at least try to redeem themselves for their colossal mistakes.
The girl who responded said "Sorry, your package should have been there. I have added a $10 credit to your account". Are you kidding me? Wow. They just lost a whole lot more than $400 because I was going to buy subscriptions for people as well. I will go to Dermstore.com or Ipsy instead. It's a shame because I had faith in Birchbox, but their lack of customer service and inability to deliver on their promises has left me disappointed.
Birchbox Disappoints with Limited Offers and Out-of-Stock Products
I have to say, I was really excited when my friend gifted me a year subscription to Birchbox. However, my excitement quickly turned to disappointment. I always feel like I'm missing out on something with this company. For example, in April, they sent an email offering a free lipstick to try, but I missed out because I didn't see the email until it was too late. Then in May, they sent an email saying I could customize my box by choosing some of the products, but the link was only accessible for three days. I emailed customer service to find out when the deadline was, and they told me they would send another email the following week with our options. I checked my email multiple times a day, waiting for that email to come, and when it finally did, the choices were already sold out.
To make matters worse, they had a special offer where you could add a "guest editor's box" to your June box for an extra $10, but that was sold out too. It seems like they only give you a few hours to take advantage of their offers. And if you refer people to Birchbox, you get preferred access to choose the items, but why would I refer this company to anyone I like?
It's frustrating because they have some nice offers, like the "Mad Men" boxes, but by the time I opened the email, only the New York box was left. I don't understand how they can consistently be out of stock with what they offer. And even when I go to their site to order full-size products, they're often out of stock. If I do find something I want to order, and it comes with a free sample of another product, forget it - it was only available for a limited time.
Thank goodness for Amazon, which always seems to have the products I want in stock, often at the same price or cheaper, and with free shipping through Amazon Prime. Birchbox, please stop teasing me with these emails telling me about great products that are only available for a few minutes after the email is sent. And stop offering specials when the supply is more limited than clean water in a third-world country.
Two Years of Birchbox: Hits, Misses, and Customer Service
I've been a Birchbox subscriber for two years now, and I must say, I still really enjoy it. The samples can be hit or miss, and some months are pretty disappointing. They seem to be really into sending me anti-wrinkle serums, and even though I'm only 31, acne is still a much bigger problem for me. However, I just set those aside and give them as gifts to my mom. I've also put other items I can't use aside and given them as little bonus gifts to friends.
There have been a few times where they've really impressed me and sent me a sample of something at just the right time, and I've discovered a new product that I'm really in love with. Sometimes, I find out that the product is quite expensive, which is a bummer, but sometimes I'm willing to spend a bit more because at least I know it works.
I've had to contact their customer service twice; once for a box I never received, and another time for a sample that wasn't in the box. They always seem to be out of samples/boxes, but both times they gave me 100 points. There was another time where I didn't receive a box and didn't contact them. I suspect someone stole the package from my building, so I felt guilty, especially since I'd just received 100 points and didn't want to look like I was "taking advantage." However, I suspect if it happened again, they'd still give me the points, especially since I've been with them for two years.
There was also a time where they sent me the wrong item, but I decided to keep it since it was twice the price of what I ordered in the first place. If they make a mistake, I won't feel bad about it. Other mistakes have also worked out in my favor, like receiving two samples in my box. The prices on the site are fairly competitive, although some items are overpriced. However, there are some very strange things (especially home goods) that are much cheaper than even Amazon. Keep an eye out for those deals.
Once they started giving 10 points for product reviews of items you sampled in the month's box, it was definitely worth it to me. Some people complain that there's not enough makeup and too much of other items like perfume, shampoo, conditioner, and wrinkle serum (or maybe that last one is just my complaint). This is a possibility, but I've also discovered some great hair products through Birchbox. Now that they're letting you pick one of your samples each month, this will definitely be less of an issue.
Birchbox Review: Cheaters and Scammers - Do Not Trust Them!
I recently decided to give Birchbox a try and signed up for their sample subscription box. After a week had passed, I realized that I had not received any email updates about my order. I went to their website and saw that it would take 10 days to ship, so I patiently waited. However, I soon realized that I did not want to deal with this every month and decided to cancel my subscription. I was hoping for a refund, but unfortunately, none came.
Two weeks later, I received an email saying that my box was on its way. However, I still did not receive anything. I contacted customer service and was told that it would take five days for the USPS to scan the package and update the tracking information. The representative promised to send me a full-size product as compensation, but when it arrived, it was only a tiny lip gloss and a small eyeshadow color. I was disappointed and contacted customer service again, only to be told that the box was lost.
I was frustrated that no one had contacted me about the lost package and that they did not have a way to track it once it left their facility. In 2019, this is not an acceptable excuse for any company that charges for a service. They should keep track of their packages and ensure that their customers receive what they paid for. The representative told me that I could get a refund, but it took almost a week for it to come through.
I decided to contact the post office about the missing package, but they said that they had not received anything from Birchbox under my name or with the tracking number provided. I felt like they were trying to keep my money because I had canceled my subscription. It seemed like they were hoping that I would forget about it or not figure it out. This is not acceptable behavior from any company, and I felt cheated and scammed.
Birchbox charges an unnecessary price for tiny samples, and I do not know if they are losing business or subscriptions. However, what I do know is that they tried to keep my money, which is technically a crime. They should have told me that they never sent the package in the first place. Instead, they sent fake shipping information and lied about the US Postal Service receiving the package. When they told me that the package was lost, the whole scam fell apart, and I knew that they were trying to cheat me.
I would not recommend this company to anyone. There are hundreds of other companies out there that provide beauty boxes, and I suggest trying those instead. I urge you never to subscribe to Birchbox. They are cheaters and scammers, and I do not trust them.
Great Birchbox Service, But Contact Information Needs Improvement
The Birchbox service is going great. I've received each box on time, got tracking information, and loved the samples. My November box has a value of over $52, which is amazing for a $10 box. All of the samples are ones I will absolutely use, so it saves me from having to go out and purchase the kinds of products that I would likely be purchasing regardless!
However, there will inevitably be a problem with an order, and there's no real reason to reach someone immediately. For example, I ordered a pair of earrings to add on to my November box. The charge went through on my card, I received a confirmation email, and the points for the purchase were added to my Birchbox account. When my box arrived, it was in the oversized packaging with bubble wrap that is used when an add on is purchased, but there were no earrings. Only my November sample box was included.
I understand that these things happen, but when they do, it's imperative that they're resolved quickly. There's no easy way to find a number or email address on the site. Instead, I had to wade through a maze of FAQs and then fill out a form. If there's contact information more easily listed, I didn't see it. That needs to be considered, as contact information needs to be easy for customers to find. The number I did find asked that I schedule a call back time. Emailing via their online form resulted in a promise to respond within 24 hours, which I never got. Finally, I tweeted the company, and I was told to email them at ***@birchbox.com. THIS and ONLY THIS got me a response, and a fast one at that.
Birchbox should be commended for handling it quickly once I got my email to them. Within just a few hours, they'd shipped it to me overnight via UPS, and it should be arriving today. That's absolutely AMAZING and well above and beyond what I'd have expected them to do. They deserve a KUDOS in that regard.
But I do remain somewhat concerned. What if I hadn't tweeted them and gotten the email address to contact them directly? What if I'd simply stuck to the online form method of contacting them? Would I have received a response? Would I now be on the phone with my credit card company disputing the charge and cancelling my sub? These are things for the company to honestly consider.
Birchbox Review: Great Rewards, Poor Personalization
I'm not sure what to think about Birchbox. Whenever I've had an issue, the people on the phone or through email have been really nice and helpful. The rewards are great - you get points for writing product reviews, spending money (you even get points on the tax you pay!), and referring people, which has saved me quite a bit. My most recent purchase was $65 worth of stuff and I only paid $15 when I combined my points and coupon codes. So, all that's good.
My main issue is that the personal profile you fill out seems totally useless. I picked a classic, low maintenance look (which to me means natural make up with the occasional red lipstick). Two months in a row I got orange lipsticks. One was really bright orange and the other was a pale orange-coral. The most annoying part: both products were samples that were part of lipstick trios. Each trio had a pink, red, and orange option, but I got the orange BOTH times. I wrote to the company (after all, I'm paying for these samples) and the response was very nice, but it didn't make any sense. They told me that the two colors I got were the "most universal" out of the other colors in the trios. That's ridiculous. There are very few people who can pull off orange lipstick, and the fact that I got orange twice in a row when there was a choice for pink or red is just so frustrating.
So I suggested that they add an option in the profile where the customer can say whether they prefer warm, cool, or neutral colors (or a section where the customer can say what "season" their skin tone is (winter, summer, spring, fall) and use this to decide whether we get pink, red, or orange. They could even have a brief description on how to figure out which category you fall under. This seems like a no-brainer to me that anyone who has anything to do with cosmetics should automatically understand. The Birchbox rep just thanked me for my suggestion and told me how they make selections, not really realizing that it's an inefficient way to do it.
Long story short, I've had great customer service, but the overall system needs a lot of work. I have about 8 boxes left in my subscription and if it keeps going this way, I won't renew it. If they add more details to their personal profile options, maybe I'll consider renewing. The idea is to sample products so you can see if you like them enough to buy them... if I keep getting colors I would NEVER wear, no number of samples will ever change that. The key is to give customers products that will work for them, with their skin tone and with their lifestyle. So far, it's not really successful in that.
Birchbox Review: Great Value, Disappointing Quality, and Greedy Practices
I've been a Birchbox customer for a couple of years now and I gotta say, I've always felt like I got my money's worth. For just $10 a month, I get to try out a bunch of different products that I wouldn't normally have access to. And when I review each product, I feel like I'm really contributing to the brand and making a difference. It's a great feeling to know that my opinion matters and that I'm part of something special.
One of the things I love about Birchbox is that I can save up my points and use them to buy full-sized versions of products that I already know I like. It's like getting a discount on something I already know I love. And let's not forget about the excitement of getting that little box in the mail each month. It's like Christmas every time!
But lately, I've noticed that the quality of the samples has gone down. There's less variety than there used to be, even though I've changed my profile multiple times to try and get more variety. And I have way too many facial sunscreen samples that I'll never use. The perfume samples are also pretty disappointing. Out of the dozen or so that I have, I only like two of them.
The box packaging has also changed, and not for the better. It used to come wrapped in this cute colored tissue paper, but now it's just a cheap black pad at the bottom that sheds all over the inside of the box and my samples. And the prices have gone up, too. Some of the hair products cost $30 or more, which would be fine if they were all salon quality, but a lot of them aren't.
And don't even get me started on the emails they send out each month. They're always so exciting, with promises of being able to choose my own samples. But by the time I click the link, all the good samples are already sold out. It's like they're teasing me with something I can never have.
I get that this might seem like a small thing, but it's really frustrating. I feel like my loyalty to Birchbox means nothing to them. They're just getting greedy and trying to squeeze more money out of me. And when I read the reviews of the samples, I can't help but feel like they're not really accurate. Of course people are going to give a product a good review if they got it for free or at a low cost. It's rare that I leave a bad review, but looking back, I probably should have given some of the products lower scores.
All in all, I'm really disappointed in Birchbox. I've spent so much money on this company and referred so many people to them, but now I regret it. I look at my box each month and feel no excitement. It's the same stuff over and over again, and the samples aren't even worth the $10 I'm spending. It's time to cut ties with Birchbox and find something better. They need to lower their prices and stop being so greedy. And maybe they could improve their shipping, too. Waiting 15 days for a product to arrive is just ridiculous.
Birchbox Complaints 33
How to Devalue the Entire Birchbox Experience
I've had Birchbox for 5 years now and used to be its biggest advocate, recommending it to all my friends and family members. I even got a Birchbox Man subscription for my brother one year for his birthday - that's how much I was a fan. That is, until now. The quality of the entire Birchbox experience has deteriorated over the past year, and I'm not saying this from a subjective standpoint - it's a FACT.
It used to be that every sample was a legitimate, generous-size sample. Sometimes, they'd even give you a full-size product, a useful makeup tool, or even a treat like a gourmet chocolate bar. It's hard to believe that this was ever the case. Now, you're lucky if you get a decent sample, and most of them are the kinds of samples you would get for free in a magazine.
It used to be that the samples would be customized to your profile, and they would take actual care in picking out products tailored to you - including based on your skin color, hair type, preference for kinds of products, etc. Now, it's all uniform and you choose the products you want based on a couple of options, which they try to spin in a way to make it appear as if this is a fun thing to look forward to. Of course, this is assuming they don't run out of choices for the month and you're forced to get the standard default samples, which will inevitably be the case unless you can put in your selections the very hour they send out the email notification that the choices are open for the choosing. Not only are the samples not tailored to your preferences (I'm not even sure what the point of creating a profile is anymore with this new system?), but there is a total disregard for the samples they do give you each month such that you are likely to receive duplicate samples. Yup, I've literally gotten the same crappy shampoo and sunscreen samples several times now - products I've indicated in my profile that I am not interested in receiving.
It used to be that you'd get a bonus sample that was packaged separately from the other samples in the box. They did away with this bonus sample completely.
In this month's Birchbox, the execs approved yet another move to save money, increase profits, and devalue the entire Birchbox experience for the consumers. They've now messed with the descriptive card provided in each monthly box. This is a new low. I know this doesn't seem like a big deal and, for some (maybe most), it's probably not. But for me, the card always just completed the awesome Birchbox experience. On one side of the card, there was a discussion of the month's specific theme served by each of the samples provided. It was usually somewhat lengthy and had some nice words of optimism. It always related to the particular month of the Birchbox. So, for example, the July Birchbox might have a patriotic theme for 4th of July and each sample provided in that box would be useful for the summertime. I used to always read this part first before looking at any of the samples and it would create some excitement. But they apparently fired the person whose job it was to do this and now just hastily write a couple of mandatory sentences that have no relevance as to anything. No more cohesive theme, no more products relevant to to this cohesive theme, and no more Birchbox experience.
Oh yeah, and they changed the card stock to something flimsier and cheaper, and the box no longer has the signature Birchbox tissue wrapping paper inside. Everything that made the box a Birchbox no longer exists, and there is literally no reason to get Birchbox in light of the numerous other boxes that now do a much better job at this (e.g., Ipsy). I regret advance paying in full for a 1-year subscription rather than paying per month because I would have wanted to cancel my subscription months ago and stop wasting my money on this worthless box of cheap duplicate samples.
Thanks, Birchbox execs. You've effectively devalued the entire Birchbox experience in favor of increasing the size of your pocketbooks to the complete neglect of your loyal and devoted customers.
Regards,
S. M.

I have been a loyal subscriber to Birchbox ACE for many years, but since their acquisition by FemTec, I have encountered some issues. In June 2022, subscribers were informed about updates to their online accounts, new options for monthly billing and shipping weeks, and improved customization choices. I successfully selected my billing and shipping weeks as instructed in the email from FemTec. However, I never received any notification about my new customization window in early July. I took the initiative to visit the Birchbox website, but I had a lot of difficulty accessing my account and making customization choices. I was repeatedly told to come back later or that the functionality would be available soon. Eventually, I managed to update my password, but I accidentally added a 12-month subscription while trying to access my current subscription. I customized my July box, but instead of receiving the customized box, I received two boxes that were not customized. My credit card was charged for one July box and the 12-month subscription. On July 12, 2022, I emailed Birchbox/FemTec for assistance and received an automated response stating that I would receive a reply within 2-3 days. However, I never heard back from them. In August, I did not receive any communication regarding box customization, and despite paying for a new 12-month subscription in July, I did not receive a box. On August 23, 2022, I emailed Birchbox/FemTec again and received another automated response stating that I would receive a reply in a certain number of days, but the number was missing from the email. It is now September 7, 2022, and I still have not heard anything from them. Today, I sent another email (as the option to call the company is not working) to request the cancellation of my subscription and a refund of the remaining balance. I received the same automated email with a missing response time. At this point, I do not expect to hear anything further from them. I would like Birchbox/FemTec to refund the remaining balance on my 12-month subscription that I purchased in July and cancel any subscriptions under my name with them.
Birchbox allowed people to swap the cost of the monthly box and add that money to a saving account within the birchbox subscription. I had around $150 saved (that I paid for and swapped so I could save up and buy a new hair iron). The company "relaunched" and won't let me sign in to use my points (even though I was paying for the subscription). I email them and received a response immediately that said they would get back to me with *** days. It has been a month now with no follow up or refund. I just want my money back. I have no idea if this company is still in business since I can't find anything about them online anymore. All my info is saved within the birchbox website that they won't let me sign into. They never gave me notice to use my money/points that i had saved in my account before they changed/shut down, just took my money.
I paid for renewal in March 2022 but I have not gotten a box since September. I tried to contact them in December but didnt get a response. I only got 7 months but paid for 12. Their website is now unavailable so I cannot request a refund.
I have been a Birchbox subscriber since February of this year
I have been a Birchbox subscriber since February of this year. My wife noticed that they charged us twice for the month of October, once on the first and once on the second. I contacted them, thinking that this would be an easy fix. If it's a monthly subscription, there shouldn't be two charges in one month. After two days, I received an email explaining that when you sign up at the beginning of the month, the auto-renewal takes payment on the second or third of the following month. They said the second payment would be for November. However, I have been charged on different dates, not just the second or third. The most common dates were the first and second. Also, when I clicked on the payment/order from October second, it clearly stated that it was for October, not November. It even showed the tracking information for the box sent on October first. In all the months I have been a subscriber, I have never been charged twice, even when I first signed up. It is obvious that they charged me twice, and I shouldn't have to go through a lot of trouble to get a refund. Now I am seriously considering whether to continue doing business with them. Will this happen again? I don't want to spend days or weeks trying to fix a mistake they made. I feel like some of the issues with this company started in the summer when they ran out of boxes. This happened twice, in June and August. They didn't charge me for those months, but they also didn't make up for it.
For years, I've had a monthly subscription with Birchbox and I received a box each month. It would appear that this company is no longer in business as I no longer have been charged a monthly fee or received a monthly box.My last payment was for $16.37 on 10/5/2022.I never received this box.I cannot contact this business. Emails are not responded to and the website is no longer functioning.
I purchased a gift subscription in May 2022. It was for 1 year and my niece was to receive a monthly box- 12 total. She has received 1 box up to this point. *** attempted to contact the company and it appears Im not the only person having issues and they are not responding. I have paid in full.
I pre-paid for a 6 month subscription (one box per month) at the end of May. I received 4 boxes. I have not received the boxes that were due to ship to me in October 2022 and November 2022. I contacted customer service in December requesting either two boxes or a refund equivalent to two months of the subscription. I did not receive a response.

Unable to cancel subscription service despite multiple attempts and contact with company
Unable to cancel subscription service despite multiple attempts and contact with company. Originally signed up for a 12 month BirchBox subscription and within a few months realized the service was not as expected or useful. I recognized I paid for the full 12 months and couldnt cancel early which was fine as it stated that when I signed up. I signed on the website as directed to stop the auto-renewal process for when the 12 months ended. Fast forward a few months later I was still auto renewed for another 12 months despite having canceled on the website. I immediately reached out to BirchBox via the email on their website stating I did not authorize the 12 month automatic renewal and had cancelled/stopped the auto-renewal on their site. After receiving no response back from BirchBox I again went back online to stop the auto renewal from occurring at the end of this 12 month renewal. Realizing the end will be in December, I recently attempted to log back into their site to ensure I was still marked as not authorized as I am tired of wasting money on this useless service. In attempting to log in, the BirchBox site states there is no account assigned to the email I used. It also states all accounts have been upgraded to a new account and to refer to the email on how to activate the new account. In looking through my emails I never received correspondence from the company pertaining to the new updated account process. Emailed the company again, and once again there is NO response. In doing a quick internet search I now realize BirchBox has questionable billing processes and virtually no customer service. Unfortunately this now means I have no way of confirming there will not be another auto renewal at the end of the year. I do not want this service and need to ensure no continued charges at the end of this 12 month period. Please help!
For 4 months I have exchanged my monthly beauty box for store credit. I never received my october box so that is a 5th month of issues. No response from the company and I have $42 in credit and the website will not let you check out. I should be receiving a refund for the $42 and my October box. Its robbery.
My daughter purchased a 3 month gift subscription from Birchbox for me for Mothers Day 2022. I received 2 boxes, but never received the third. I first contacted the company in August 2022 and was told that the gift box was sent, but was returned to them as undeliverable. They verified my address and agreed to resend the box. I never received the box. I recontacted them. They apologized and said they would send another. I never received anything. I have tried to contact them many times through their website and always receive an auto response saying they will contact me within *** business days, but never do. There is no phone number listed anywhere to contact them. I would like the 3rd box to be sent or a refund to be given to my daughter, which I have explained to them many times.
I received a one year (12 box) gift subscription to receive a monthly box from Birchbox in December 2021. There was an initial issue with getting the subscription started but Birchbox was able resolve the issue in May *** July 2022. I received my August subscription but then never received my subscription starting in September to current. My order status for September continues to show as in progress. I have reached out to the company three times via email as there is no other way to contact the company, that Ive been able to determine. My first email was sent on 11/27/2022 and I received a notice that someone would reply in 10 business days. I did not receive a response and emailed again in December 2022 but did not receive an auto-response that my email was received. I emailed one last time on 1/6/2023 and again received notification that I would hear a response within 10 business days. At this point, I have been unsuccessful at getting my issue resolved and have not found a way to directly reach out to the company.
I purchased the "Rebillable 12-Month Membership, Prepaid" membership in May 2022. This subscription is for a box of pre-selected items to be delivered each month. Unfortunately, the last monthly box I received was in September 2022. I contacted customer service (via email) multiple times and have not received a response. If they are not going to honor the subscription that I paid for, I would like a pro-rated refund for the remaining boxes. Thank you for any help you can offer.
To receive either my refund or my box and then a cancellation.
A month ago, I reached out to Birchbox via email (because they do not provide a phone number) regarding an email they sent notifying me that I would be charged for a box. I had cancelled my subscription and was not expecting a shipment. Within a few days I received an email saying it would be cancelled and the charges removed. After two weeks, I checked my bank account and the charges have not been taken off my account. In addition, they haven’t sent a box either. I got an automated email saying that someone would help me soon. There needs to be a number I can call. I want to make sure I do not incur more charges.
Birchbox Review: Lack of Customer Service and Care in Packaging Orders
I have been a Birchbox subscriber for 8 months now and I must say, it started off pretty well. The samples that came in a reusable box were quite impressive and always arrived on time. However, my experience with the company has taken a turn for the worse recently.
One day, I had trouble logging into my account and reached out to their customer service for help. To my dismay, I received an automated reply stating that they were too busy and it would take them 8 to 10 days to get back to me. Unfortunately, I never received any help and had to figure out the issue on my own.
In September, I received my order in a brown shipping box that looked like it had been haphazardly shoved in. I was quite disappointed with the lack of care taken in packaging my order. This month, I was charged on the 3rd of October but my order has yet to be shipped. I reached out to their customer service again, only to receive the same automated reply as before.
While searching for a phone number to contact them directly, I stumbled upon a customer review site where women were sharing similar experiences. Some even mentioned that the company made it nearly impossible to cancel subscriptions and would continue to charge their credit cards indefinitely. This was quite concerning and led me to cancel my credit card and get a new one yesterday.
In conclusion, I would advise against subscribing to Birchbox. The lack of customer service and care in packaging orders is quite disappointing. Additionally, the difficulty in canceling subscriptions and the possibility of being charged indefinitely is a major red flag.
Disappointing Experience with Birchbox: Poor Quality Products and Unhelpful Customer Service
I would like to share my experience with Birchbox. I must say, I was quite disappointed with my first box. I used a promo code to receive two extra mascaras, but unfortunately, I received an email a week later stating that they were all gone. However, they promised to send me a similar product, which was fine with me. But, it took more than three weeks for me to receive it. In the meantime, I was charged for my second box before I even had the chance to try the first one.
The products were just thrown in a cardboard box with no attempt at presentation whatsoever. I was expecting a higher quality beauty subscription, but I suppose I was wrong. My first box had the extra mascaras just thrown in the mailing bag loose. I ended up throwing away most of the samples I received because they were either worthless or full of toxic crap. For example, I received a piece of cardboard with a smudge of lipstick, which was quite disappointing.
In an attempt to find out what was going on with my boxes, I sent a note to customer service. Unfortunately, it seemed like they didn't even read my note. The response I received was completely unhelpful and made me even more angry. I wish I had spent my $20 on any other beauty box subscription.
Overall, I would not recommend subscribing to Birchbox. The products were not worth the price, and the customer service was not helpful. I hope they can improve their service in the future.
Birchbox Review: Disappointing Customer Service and Shipping Delays
I recently signed up as a new customer for Birchbox in November. I was excited to receive my first box and was informed that boxes are shipped before the 10th of every month. However, after the 10th, my account still said "processing." I was confused and decided to reach out to customer service for clarification. They informed me that they ship by the 10th business day, not the 10th of the month. They also advised me to email them again if I don't receive an update by the 12th.
As of the 12th, I still hadn't received an update, but I understood that it was a holiday. However, on the 13th, I emailed customer service again and expressed my concern that my subscription still hadn't shipped. They responded and said that it shipped out the day before. I was relieved to hear that, but fast forward over a week later, and I still hadn't received my box. The tracking number hadn't updated from shipped on the 12th, and I was getting frustrated.
I decided to email customer service again and expressed my disappointment with their service. I asked them to cancel my subscription, but the representative ignored my request and simply said that the box was on its way. I was annoyed and emailed them again a few days later, saying that I was really upset and wanted the remainder of my subscription refunded. I wasn't going to pay for any more boxes if this was the kind of service I could expect.
It's now 11/21, and I still haven't received my box, and the tracking hasn't updated. However, the representative emailed me back and said that she canceled and refunded my card. I was happy to hear that, but I couldn't help but wonder where my box was. I decided that I was going to switch back to Ipsy because their customer service was way better.
Overall, I was disappointed with my experience with Birchbox. While I understand that delays can happen, I felt like their customer service could have been better. I hope that they can improve their service in the future so that other customers don't have to go through the same frustration that I did.
Beware of Birchbox: My Disappointing Experience with Their Service
I was super excited to get my hands on a Birchbox (January 2017) after seeing an ad on Facebook that offered two boxes for the price of one. As a student, the price of ?10 + ?2.95 did make me hesitate a bit, but I decided to give it a go anyway. Boy, was that a mistake!
It's been 11 whole days since I placed my order and I still haven't received my box. The initial confirmation email I got said that I should expect my box within 5-8 days, but that clearly didn't happen. To make matters worse, I received an email 7 days after my order was confirmed saying that my box had only just been dispatched from the warehouse. Seriously, it takes a whole week to dispatch a box? That's just ridiculous! Other brands, even ones from overseas, manage to get their stuff to me within 3 days.
I've already unsubscribed from Birchbox and I have no intention of renewing my subscription, no matter how "amazing" the contents of my box may be (I haven't even received it yet, so I can't really judge). I don't even think I'm going to get my two boxes for the price of one, and from what I've read in other reviews, it's not even worth contacting customer service to ask about it.
If you're thinking about ordering from Birchbox, I highly recommend that you don't. There are plenty of other monthly box brands out there, like Glossybox and others, that are much better options.
Birchbox Review: Disappointing Samples & Nightmare Cancellation Process
Birchbox, oh Birchbox, where do I begin? I was so excited to receive my first box, but when I opened it up, I was disappointed to find that the samples were so small, I needed a magnifying glass just to see them! I mean, come on Birchbox, don't you know the definition of deluxe? It means sumptuous, luxurious, of a superior kind! And your samples were anything but that.
But I didn't give up hope just yet. I received my second box less than a month later, which was a pleasant surprise. However, once again, only one sample could be considered "deluxe" and even that was a stretch. I decided to cancel my subscription after the second box, but it was a nightmare trying to figure out how to do so. I had paid for a yearly subscription up front, which I now regret, as I didn't realize that I had to cancel within a month of ordering to get a refund.
After searching high and low for instructions on how to unsubscribe, I finally got someone from Birchbox on chat. It took some back and forth, but I eventually had to threaten to dispute the charge with my Amex on the grounds that they misrepresent their products. And just like that, my subscription was cancelled.
I've also tried ipsy, but they just put you on a never-ending waitlist, so you end up paying for products you never even receive. I'm now dreading trying out the last two beauty boxes I have yet to try. Overall, I would not recommend Birchbox or ipsy to anyone looking for deluxe samples.
Birchbox Review: Mixed Feelings and Bad Experience with Customer Service
This company, Birchbox, is not the best. I have mixed feelings about the samples they send me. Some are good, but some are cheap and not worth it. I also subscribe to Ipsy and Sephora Play, and I have to say that Sephora is the best of the three.
I had a bad experience with Birchbox and I will never subscribe to them again. It took them four months and three emails to finally give me a refund for some makeup I returned via mail. I think they were hoping I'd forget and they'd get to keep my money. That's not right.
They also falsely advertised what colors come in their LOC liquid eyeshadows. I bought it because I wanted to try the purple, but they replaced it with the most pale color. That was very disappointing.
Another thing that bothers me is that they do not have a phone number to call. Emailing them takes a long time to hear a response. Their promotions, like getting a whole year for a certain amount of money, wasn't actually made available for several months after their email. I contacted them to ask and never heard back.
Apparently, my loyalty points expired earlier than their email said they would. But hey, you can't contact them right away, so I guess you just don't get them. That's not fair.
I also tried to delete my credit card, but it's not straightforward. They make you enter a new one before deleting the old. I don't want them to renew another year of subscriptions, so now I have to hope somebody actually contacts me. What a headache and joke this company is.
In my opinion, this company needs to get itself together. If they fixed those dishonest things, it would be a better experience.
Birchbox Review: Not Worth the Money Anymore - Save Yourself the Trouble
Birchbox used to be a pretty cool company with some nice benefits for just $20 per month. If you reviewed the sample products you paid for, you would receive points that would accumulate and allow you a nice little discount on products they sell. However, it seems like they didn't make enough money on that scheme, so they ended it. No more points or discounts for you!
Now, each month you will receive some grooming products and a "lifestyle" product. This could be anything from underwear, socks, a tie, or an electronic item. Something worth about $10-$15 maybe. So, you pay $20 per month (for the men's subscription) for a $10 item and samples you could get for FREE at Sephora.
Suddenly, the service went down the toilet. You SUPPOSEDLY get to choose your lifestyle item each month, but good luck with that. You select a neat little electronic item, but you are sent a junky trinket because there were "production" problems. LOL! This happens all the time.
I finally decided I had to complain to them, but they couldn't give two STS. I'm convinced they "marked" me because my box every month is missing an item or I get a junky trinket I didn't want. Oh well, my subscription ends in December. Then I'm done with them forever.
Long story short... Take $10 and buy yourself a neat little item (from Amazon) they may feature on their website. Then go to the mall and get 3 tiny samples from Sephora or ULTA. Next, put $10 back in your pocket. You will end up exactly the same without the frustration of getting screwed EVERY month.
Overall, Birchbox is not worth the money anymore. It used to be a great service, but now it's just a waste of time and money. Save yourself the trouble and find a better subscription service.
Challenging Website Navigation and Slow Shipping: A Review of [Company Name]
This website is a bit of a challenge to navigate. It seems like it was designed by someone who has never used a computer before. It can be quite frustrating to try and complete an order from this company.
First, the login process is a nightmare. They require you to change your password on a regular basis, which means you have to go through the process of changing your password every time you want to log in. And the password requirements are so strict that it can take a while to come up with a new password that meets their criteria. It's almost like they're running a top-secret government agency instead of a shampoo company. All I wanted was some shampoo, not a security clearance!
The shipping process is also a bit of a challenge. It can take anywhere from a week to a month for my orders to arrive. It's not the end of the world, but it would be nice if they could speed things up a bit.
The website itself is also a bit difficult to navigate. It's very stylish and trendy, but it's not very functional. I keep getting error messages every time I try to do something. It's frustrating, to say the least.
Despite all of these issues, there is one reason why I keep coming back to this website. They have exclusive rights to sell my favorite shampoo. I wish I could find it somewhere else, but I can't. So, I'm stuck with this website for now.
Overall, this website is a bit snobby and overpriced. If you have other options for the products you want, I would recommend going somewhere else. But if you're like me and you're stuck with this website because they have something you can't find anywhere else, then just be prepared for a bit of a challenge.
Disappointed with Birchbox's Customer Service: A Review
I recently had an experience with Birchbox that left me feeling disappointed and undervalued as a customer. I have been a subscriber for about 18 months now and have always appreciated the convenience and quality of the products I receive. However, when I reached out to customer service about missing samples in my December 2016 box, I was met with a lack of responsiveness and poor follow-through.
Initially, I received a response within 24 hours and was told that I would be receiving a replacement box. However, when the replacement box arrived, it only contained one sample instead of the two that were missing. I reached out to customer service again and requested that my January 2017 box be shipped for free as a gesture of goodwill. Unfortunately, my January box was sent to my previous address and was not able to be retrieved.
I found it frustrating that my November box, December box, and replacement box were all sent to my current address without issue, but my free January box was sent to my old address. As a loyal customer, I expected better treatment and more attention to detail.
After canceling my account, I hope that Birchbox takes my experience into consideration when evaluating their customer service practices. It's important for companies to value their customers and provide timely and effective solutions to any issues that arise.
Birchbox Review: False Promises, Poor Quality, and No Customer Service
I gotta say, I really wanted to like Birchbox. I mean, I gave them so many chances, it's almost embarrassing. As someone who studied advertising in college, I should have known better than to keep giving a subscription box that promises to cater to my "beauty profile" so many chances. But I kept hoping that maybe, just maybe, they would get it right. Unfortunately, that never happened.
The thing is, the beauty profile is just a way to make you think that Birchbox is tailoring their boxes to your specific needs. But in reality, it's just a way for them to collect data on you. And even when I made it clear that I have medium skin, I still ended up with the same crappy CC cream in light not once, but twice. And to make matters worse, my fiance, who has ivory skin that's way lighter than mine, was too dark for the CC cream I received. And I got it twice! What a joke.
But that's not even the worst part. When I tried to cancel my subscription and leave a detailed message about why I was canceling, Birchbox wouldn't let me. I guess my message was too detailed for them. So not only did they fail to deliver on their promises, but they also didn't even want to hear feedback from a dissatisfied customer.
Honestly, save your money and skip Birchbox. If you're looking for hair products, you're better off DIYing or ordering from Amazon. And for skin products and makeup, I recommend finding a Mary Kay consultant. My mom has been using their products for as long as I can remember, and she looks amazing at 67. That's all I use now, and I couldn't be happier.
In conclusion, I'm beyond disappointed with Birchbox, but I'm not going to let them ruin my mood. Just take my advice (and the advice of other dissatisfied subscribers) and steer clear of Birchbox.
birchbox
my money was taken on sept 27th and I have sent email after email because phone number has for the company was disconnected or changed and I get a email back stating I will here from someone within 7-10 days which never happens so I send another email every 15-20 days or so I haven't gotten my box or the 5 items I ws surpose to receive from using my rewards received an email showing the order and saying I would receive an email when my order is sent but that never happened. it is now february 2nd going on 4 months no products no refund. this is stealing so maybe time to speak to a lawyer about this company
Desired outcome: to either get my merchandise or a refund
NEVER received any Products!!! Company has stopped responding!!!
I heard about the slowness of the "subscription" based boxes and I should have listened to my gut! BUT I thought, no worries, I'm buying two products from their store not getting a subscription Box. HOW HARD can it be? two products, in their on-line store, put it in the mail and ship it to me. THREE months and nothing is delivered, email after email, nothing but standard auto replies of we are working hard to get products out, delivery is slow. NO, your delivery is not SLOW your delivery is NOT AT ALL! You take money from people and then don't send products. What a horrible sham of a company!
Birchbox
I have paid for Birchbox on the 1st of Sept which was suppose to arrive by the 8th. I have been a member for over 2 years and lately (over several months) there have been continued delays. This month has been the longest and I am getting no where with the company. They continue to send generic emails to say there is delay in shipping but I don't want the box I want a refund. All queries are now being ignored by the company.
Desired outcome: I want my money back
Birchbox- “ one” prep spray came In the mail dumped inside the Birchbox
I got my usual monthly box and it was SOAKED inside. The cap clearly wasn’t screwed on when it left Birchbox shipment team. It destroyed all the packaging and I could barely read about the other products not to mention my entire sample of “RCO one” prep spray was completely empty and I never got to try it even though I paid for it. To make it more annoying it was my “ chosen sample” that came spilled and I was excited to try it. There seems to be nowhere to contact them about the issue they make it impossible……. I even have photos of the disaster. I wish they would send a replacement but doesn’t seem like that will happen ….
Desired outcome: Send replacement of that product
Customization for boxes
The past three months I have not received my customization emails from Birchbox. I have contacted customer service twice about my issue and was told "sorry" but the issue was not truly resolved
I get every other email from Birchbox and had been receiving the customizable emails up until 3 months ago.
So again today I get an email reading that my new box has shipped. Again, I didn't receive an email allowing me to select either my box items or points.
I've also had an issue where I wasn't able to select points. This was apparently a tech issue.
I can't use most of the products you send due to skim allergies so trading the box for points was working great up until now.
This subscription service is such a waste of money. I have asked that my subscription be cancelled. Guess I'll have to be diligent in checking that has actually happened.
Never again Birchbox!
Desired outcome: I want points for the last three months I was unable to make selections.
