Very poorly constructed app challenging than trust wallet
Seemed pretty easy to set up I even got there BitPay debit card but then when it came to putting money on it or sending Crypto to the app in order to use the card the steps are really impossible and it’s completely ridiculous. First of all it’s asking for an encrypted password which was never even the an option to setup on the account. Then there’s the phrases just like in trust wallet but I was never given any phrases so I have no idea what the hellz going on here. It would be nice to use but seems more trouble than it’s worth don’t waste your time. The developer really needs to crack down and make this app much more user-friendly with explanations impossible a littleTutorials send could have so much potential but it’s actually pushing people away.. seriously needs to be fixed. This is peoples money were talking about and it shouldn’t be screwed around with.
Glitchy App/Poor Customer Service
The approval process for the bitpay card was quick, but I kept getting various error codes after approval. It took 60 days for Bitpay to resolve this by closing my original account and having me open a new account under a different email. Then my card never came in the mail. It’s been 32 days so far, so i sent their support an email. They told me to call the cardholder support line but they were unable to help me, and they asked me to send another email. So i did. They always send auto responses with a presumed resolution to my problem—if they really read the email and used some discerning problem solving skills then they would have picked up on the fact that their auto-email does not address the real issue at hand. I’m guessing it will take them a long time to resolve this as well. 60 days? 90? Never? We’ll see. This is beyond frustrating though. Maybe i’ll have a bitpay card in a year or two.
Great Concept. Expensive. Not secure
I signed up for the card and received it in the mail quicker than I expected. I loaded bitcoin and converted to cash rather easily. Had no problems with purchases or at the ATM.
The BitPay platform is a little clumsy and I’ve been have trouble correlated the app with the website. The biggest negative is the extraordinarily high fees to transfer money into you bitpay wallet and then you have to pay again to convert to cash on the card. Seems like double dipping.
This is clearly early in the life of this technology and currency. Hopefully they clean it up a little and make it cheaper and faster. It’s the only way they will ever get to truly compete with cash.
Update:
Used it at a couple of different site. Was working fine. Then all my money disappeared and my balance was 0. Not sure where it went. Got an email that the site was hacked and private keys were stolen. Just shredded the card. Useless.
Wallet, swap, send, receive, buy. AIO
Best wallet
One of bitpay’s best features is the fact that you can convert crypto to MasterCard, Amazon card, etc. without ever having to pull money out to another wallet. If you are interested in making large crypto investments, you can buy and swap crypto on the spot. They even offer a bitpay card (physical card) which is great, sort of. In order to receive it you have to put in your ID, and not knowing who’s on the other end makes it questionable to give out.
On a different note, this app truly shows how much you can do with crypto. The moment I got this app, I found out that, using only crypto, I could fly somewhere in Europe, come back, have a meal, go on a long shopping spree, buy groceries, (I think I can get a pet too?), and never touch cash. That was all without MasterCard btw, which is also available, however it has a considerable fee. If you are in possession of crypto and need a wallet, get this.
Encrypt Password Error + BitPay Handling
One of the most pathetic things I've experienced in an app. Not sure who you have working on this, but one: they should be fired. Two: the way that the BitPay team handled this incident, by creating a blog post / "help" article regarding the situation, claiming that encrypt passwords that are forgotten mean to forever lose your funds without actually addressing the fact that they introduced a bug into the app which enabled encrypt password by default and locked users out of their funds, possibly permanently if they didn't have their mnemonic phrase, is both horrifying and laughable. Thankfully I have my mnemonic, but purely based off of principal, enjoy the 1-star review. A real shame considering how much I've enjoyed the BitPay experience over the years but this was absolutely unacceptable and your development team as well as whoever vetted and pushed through this update, AS WELL as your PR team or whatever you've want to call the team is who posted that pathetic article regarding encrypt passwords should all be ashamed of yourselves. Losers.
“Encrypt password” with no warning???
The “encrypt password” was never a thing before. Never something we were alerted to or pointed towards where to locate it so now me and everyone I know are just locked out. I have my 12 word key but I don’t trust it’ll work to reset the encrypt password and turn it off since, evidently, the encrypt password is required to turn it off. Literally makes no sense.no pop up with it. No email. No location where it can be found. I’m trying to buy my elderly mom groceries. Cmon. Your random changes/glitches have real impacts on real people’s lives. I’ve used this app for years. I don’t understand why this change was made and executed like a monkey did it, not why your company has yet to respond to my email to help.
At least have the decency to rec a comparable/reliable app to use instead while this is remedied. Lord knows you have most our emails. I had ZERO complaints about the app til now. Even recommended it to friends. Really disappointing these changes were made and executed terribly.
2 stars bc the second star is since, until now, you weren’t basically useless :(
Some Hiccups But it works
I have ordered the physical card & at first I was using the virtual card on my iPhone. Which I use for my Apple Pay whenever I use Tap phone. I tried using it at a grocery store then it was asking me for a pen I tried it again and I just hit enter didn’t work. I triedIt at Macy’s as my Apple Pay and it worked. I had purchased a gift card $1000 MasterCard but I didn’t know how to use the virtual card through BlinkSky. I called Bitpay customer service to ask what was I doing wrong but he said that I would have to email customer support at blinksky.com. I tried doing a YouTube search but that wasn’t too helpful. I’ve had the gift card on my bitpay virtual account for 9 day’s when I finally figured it out. It wasn’t working properly on my iPhone 11 so I just texted a link to my android phone. (Found in the 3Dots in the upper right hand corner with a drop down menu)You tap on your gift card tap the virtual button then you get redirected to BlinkSky.com. Fill out your information and tap activate. It takes 30 minutes or more on my android to activate. It worked the next day.
Bitpay is next-generation currency management — and they are phenomenal
Yo if you get your account terminated it’s VISA’s decision, not Bitpay’s — which is why legally they cannot disclose any details — because they are not the party responsible for or delegated to disclose anything about the other company’s reason, which also happens to be the payment processor that they use to make their product possible. It’s bitcoin and fiat being hybridized, that’s an innovation and “technical difficulties” are a part of maturing that technology and utilizing it for the immense global purchasing power and unrestricted flow of YOUR money wherever you happen to be.. and they even offer directly depositing your conversion from crypto into significantly generous atm wothdrawal and Cashback limits. Stop crying about the inevitable technological bugs and maintenance periods and report it to VISA not, the facilitator and decision maker of your relationship with them or any of their affiliates. Bitpay is incredible and I truly appreciate the important & necessary function that you bring to the table for those of us who gamble on crypto currency and support the values.
the default app for cryptocurrency
Don't let coinbase fool you. This is the default app for cryptocurrency exchanges. At least, for the big ones like bitcoin. Not sure about how ethereum works on bitpay yet, but if they got on their horse and integrated other cryptocurrency's into their exchange, such as dash, litecoin, dogecoin, monero, and more etc..., That wouldn't be a problem. Obviously coinbase is more reknowned, but more and more people are getting rubbed the wrong way by coinbase (like myself), or getting banned for life because of their unmercifully terms of service. Its only a matter of time until the masses get behind the most stability and open source cryptocurrency exchange application that is possible. Its a law of nature that the path of least resistance is the path most utilized. Cryptocurrency isn't going anywhere cuz i cant remember the last time I heard someone say anything good about banks/the "bankster", ps the US dollar is just a piece of paper that we all agree on. Look at google and and amazon. Right now bitpay is on course to become that which is the default, like the prior mentioned. Fin.
Robbed of my miney!
Downloaded this app to use for my BitCoin. Saved all 12 words, saved my encrypted password. Everything was great! Had to get a new phone and this is where the issues started! Saying either my 12 words are incorrect which they are not and also in the correct order! Password is perfect. Now it’s asking me for a “Derivation Path” and “Wallet Service URL”. None of this information was provided or told to save. I have $500 in my wallet that is now lost! I even have my long wallet address code attached to my BitCoin account.
I have seen comments about if you Encrypted your password and then delete the app or break your phone, you’re screw even if you know the password!
I even have my bitpay card that I have activated, can assess my bitpay card online, but can’t access my wallet with money! I can make a new wallet easy, just can’t access the one with my money!
Now I have to find a new app!
UPDATE DUE TO EDITORS COMMENT:
Still a horrible app! Find yourself a better bitcoin wallet! And if you choose to use this horrible app, make sure to write down your words and save them in a safe!

No help from fraud dept
Update: even though the developer left this response their support refuses to help me.
I had $1500 in fraud on BitPay’s debit card and the fraud department refuses to investigate properly or even allow me to file for a chargeback. The cards have very poor security features so I don’t recommend leaving more than a couple hundred dollars on it.

Error messages App stops working
I keep having problems with this app and in my case it is always related to error messages that pop up, screen goes to white and it doesn’t work anymore. Most recently, the message “error loading the keys” appears as soon as I open the app and I can’t use it anymore. Usually I wait for a couple of days but this time it has been more than two weeks and still the app doesn’t respond.

BitPay
Don’t waist your time. When you transfer your money they decide when and where you can use it. I’ve had my card decline when trying to pick up my prescriptions I’ve had it decline trying to buy food and now I have $350 that I can’t use and they refuse to give it back it’s stuck in my account. I am going to contact apple for a refund because BitPay will not give me my money that’s in my account

My camera works fine out side the app...Now I signed online and verified won’t let me use my crypto password , I deleted and added the app back signed in now I can’t find my money or put in the 12 words. Before y’all roll out a app please test it better playing with people money. I’m ready to get my funds and find a new way to spend my crypto to much hassle.

After updating my account “doesn’t exist”
After update I tried to log in account, I have one password since 2017 and it doesn’t work now . Well I choose, I chose the option “update my password”, and it said “we will send you a link if your account exist” but I didn’t receive anything, now I can’t log in. All this years everything was good, but after this update you guys do something wrong, and I absolutely sure what email I used, because I have a lot of confirmations from bitpay on it

I loved it on my droid
I absolutely loved being able to see the balance on my bitpay debit card as I have 65% of my paycheck go into it for crypto weekly. No matter what I do when I try to link the card in app it brings me to the point of connecting it asking for my pin and every single time the PIN numbers are responsive. 5 stars if I could somehow get it to link on my iPhone(xs) if that helps developers. Wish I didn’t have to carry my work pixel at all times just to see my card!

Horrible
I was one of the first customers and the card stopped working for absolutely no reason. It cost me $15 to order another one and then it never even arrived. Customer support sent me in circles for 2 months and nobody answered the phone or ever called me back from their automated system. When I finally got someone on the line they demanded I email them proof of address. When I tried to inquire about why this was necessary they literally hung up on me. Goodbye BitPay.

Missing Crypto
I sent a small amount of XRP for o my wallet and it was all confirmed but missing 10. I didn’t think anything of it yet til I sent bitcoin from BitPay and it never arrived. Thts wen I came to the conclusion tht they must think we are stupid and wouldn’t notice small amounts missing. Wen u only have a small amount it’s extremely noticeable. BitPay needs to step up their game cuz I like the layout but if my transactions are gonna keep getting messed with I’ll def be done with it

Honest review
Extremely high fees, no hope for them adjusting it. App is extremely slow and buggy both on the computer and the phone. At first I thought getting a Wallet with them would be amazing And so convenient considering Newegg takes BitPay directly. Boy was I wrong. Their transfer network fee Doesn’t change with the block chain network. Even when the fees drop down to below three dollars on bitcoin network I still have to pay up to .0006 bitcoin To transfer a dollar. Absolutely ridiculous.

Do not use this app
Hello bitpay is holding is my funds hostage. I have a confirmed amount more than enough for transaction A and transaction b. My transaction A is pending status for the last 4 hours which is for whatever reason stopping the app from sending the amount I want for transaction B even though I have more than enough left over in my wallet. The app shows an available balance of zero but the sigma is more than enough for transaction B. I dont know if this is a glitch or what the situation is but This app is dumb. Dont trust your bitcoins in here.

I feel like I was stolen from
My first online transaction with Bitcoin was with Bitpay and yea, like the title says. I feel like my Bitcoin was stolen from me. I sent my bitcoin over to Bitpay for a transaction online and I never received an invoice, was never told that I was going to get an invoice. When I connected to support they just said I’d get refunded because I never paid an invoice. And the money never came (it’s been about a week and a half now… Bitcoin is much faster than that). They list a transaction id but don’t tell me where to look up the transaction id. I cannot trust this company.

Suddenly charges ETH miner fee for MATIC network funding
I’ve been using the MATIC network to find my debit card with USDC without fee for a while. Starting very recently the app shows 0.02-0.03 ETH miner fee when topping the card.
That equals about 30-50 USD per topping - clearly a bug on the app side - why would I pay ETH miner fee if the transaction happens on MATIC?
Contacted the customer service but no useful replies. Subsequent inquiries just result in total silence.
I think the idea of bit pay is good - but the execution isn’t there yet. The customer support is a joke. I’m moving away from BitPay and will just use Coinbase card going forward.

Sketchy App
As a new cryptocurrency investor I was told @BitPay was a user friendly app to use. On its face things seemed easy from buying to selling. My nice experience ended there. As I’m getting acquainted with the app after successfully making my 1st purchase and feeling good about the process my little kitten thought she’d join me. Her paw hit the send button and without any type of verification or questions like (are you sure) instantly all my investment was gone never to be returned. So basically any app that you can empty your account without any verification is a scam or at a minimum poorly coded. Deleting a text requires more effort than @BitPay emptying one’s account

CAUTION, YOUR MONEY WILL BE STOLEN!
I have had this app for a little under 3 months. In that time, I added bitcoin to the wallet and ordered the bit pay card. The first card I received had 2 fraudulent chargers applied to it in the first month, without me ever having tried to use the card. I cancelled that card and ordered a new one. The second card I ordered had the same exact thing happen. Money was spent from my debit card, without me EVER having used it, entered the debit account information or authorizing a purchase ANYWHERE. I take this to be a seriously bad sign with 3 fraudulent chargers in less than 3 months without having given ANYONE my card/account info. Learn from my mistakes and AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
