Bad service
We contracted with Breedlove Landscape Services located in Centralia, Missouri. They were supposed to install a patio alongside the back area of our home. This area takes a lot of rain and it was understood and stated on the contract that “proper drainage” was guaranteed. The area was also supposed to have the correct slope to take the water away from the house. Long story short…the area is not adequately sloped away from house. At the first rain we had an area 7 feet in diameter with 1 inch of standing water. (see picture) Now there are two more places that have sunk. They also have apparently cut out a previously installed drain pipe put in to carry the water away from the house, because it was in their way.
The deck steps were removed in order to raise the area under them. I was told by the foreman, Kevin Roberts, that he could cut them off and replace them and they would look fine. He really didn’t care how he did it and he ruined them. I now need to pay to have new steps installed.
From the beginning they just didn’t care how the job was done. They wanted to get to the next job which was scheduled for the week of July 5. We cancelled our July 4th plans and stayed home so they could get ahead on our job. No one showed up. They were all out having fun. My complaining to Breedlove made his foreman Roberts angry. After that he did an even worse job. He damaged a 15 foot piece of siding with his hammer.
Because Missouri has a Mechanics Lien law, I bought the materials. I was told to buy Sandlock to put between the bricks. All that does is make sure the water does not drain. So there is $80.00 shot. I bought the capstones and pavers. At some point they went to pick up the capstones, but I didn’t know it. Then I saw one of the workmen carrying the stones in and I asked how many he picked up. He told me 34, which was correct. After the job was done and I was looking around I could only count 18 of the 34 stones. I asked him what happened to them. I refused to pay for the stones I could not find. The same thing happened with previously laid capstones. They were removed but the person putting them back on didn’t know what they were doing so they just put them on any old way. I had to order new capstones . I also ended up buying two hammers and a 6 foot level because that I was supposed to be reimbursed for but have yet to see the money. I paid for at least 5 load of gravel, they brought 2. That is why the pavers are sinking. They didn’t want to bring any more gravel.
I am trying to get them back to finish the job but Jeff Breedlove won’t return my calls.
