This is a good one to be aware of as we recently were subjected to this situation and are canceling our citi card account in response.
We made an online purchase from a merchant after thoroughly reading their policies on delivery and terms and conditions. We completed the transaction and paid the final dollar amount including a delivery charge. The product arrived with additional cod charges not stated anywhere in terms and conditions or in shipping policies so we contacted the vendor who stated that they refused to honor our purchase price and would charge us a 40% restocking charge if we didn't accept the cod charges. We contacted citicards and were told to contact them after the return was completed and the merchant had received their products back which we did. We were then told that we have no protections or chargeback rights on the transaction because we refused delivery. Apparently it is fully acceptable mastercard policy to allow merchant account holders to apply any cod charges after the fact to transactions without notification or statement prior to delivery and acceptance is not grounds for chargeback nor is refusal and you are fully subjected to the merchants return policy.
Now thats one to be very aware of when dealing with online merchants, it is only a matter of time before more merchants become aware of this loophole and exploit it for maximum effect allowing for cod charges many times the amount of the agreed upon transaction and refusal to accept can result in a no refund policy ensuring the merchant retains an unaccepted and undelivered product for full resale value as well as collecting full sale value each time he commits one of these transactions.
We would take this to court if the loss was high enough but sadly enough such criminal activity goes unchecked because of the costs of litigation. Its very disappointing to see credit card companies supporting this sort of activity though.

Complaint against CitiBank's dishonest, unethical, opportunistic, and predatory business practices.
First some background information on me. I am 32 years old. I am an electronic musician (playing all instruments) who has written over 100 complete and original songs, 70 of which are available on 4 different websites on the internet, free to listen to and download. I have Bi-Polar disorder which became worse in the last few years and I now have Schizo-affective disorder (not full blown schizoprenia). The entire time I have been on disability which is 10 years, I have been learning how to write, writing and producing music (therefore making a valuable contribution, to society and the world, for the "free" money I have been receiving). As if the capitalist class in America does not enjoy plenty of "free" money, off the backs of the working class, and I should feel guilty about the pittance that I receive. Before I became disabled, I worked as a Veterinary Tech, in Residential Construction, on a Farm, in Shipping and Receiving for a major retail store, and in several restaurants. I also attended Community College a few times but was unable to complete studies because my psychological condition prevented me from doing so. When I was 17 years old, I joined the Illinois ARMY National Guard and served as an 11 Bravo (light infantry), and was honorably discharged.
CitiBank sent an advertisement to my mailbox at my house 2 years ago, said they had a great offer and that i could borrow money. I needed money for food, clothing, and to fix my car. So I went in to the local CitiFinancial office and asked to borrow $2000. They asked what my income was and I told them I was disabled, unemployed, and my only income was $700 a month in SSI and Social Security. They gave me a check for $2000 and I went and cashed it.
The next month when I went in to make my monthly payment of $80, the receipt said that I owed CitiBank around $3, 850. I went back in and said, "How is it that I owe almost double the amount that I borrowed? You gave me a check last month for $2000 so how is it that 30 days later I owe you almost $4000?" She said, "That's 32% Annual interest over the term of the loan which is 3 1/2 years."
Well I had no idea that this was what I had agreed to. At no point did the CitiBank loan agent ever make it clear in any way whatsoever that I was expected to pay back double what I borrowed, and I certainly did not know that the interest added up to 100% over 3 1/2 years. She did not make any of that clear to me, and I was ignorant of the way these banks calculate interest.
You are probably thinking to yourself that I'm just plain stupid and deserve to be taken advantage of because of my ignorance in financial matters. But I will tell you, that if I had any idea as to what I was getting into, then why was I so completely shocked when I got my first bill that said I owed CitiBank almost $4000 on a $2000 loan? I'll tell you why, I was shocked because at no time did the loan agent ever make it clear that they were going to be taking advantage of me so severely. My father even called them and yelled at them for giving a disabled person with almost no income a $2000 loan.
Now you may be thinking that I'm a thief and I never paid back the money I borrowed, right? WRONG. I went into that CitiBank office every single month and dealt with those rude people for over 2 years. I paid back every penny of the $2000 that i borrowed, PLUS about $150 in interest. My mother was going to bail me out of this loan, but died recently before she could help me.
Well because of my illness and inability to work, I lost the house that I was living in, yet should have been part owner in that house. 10 years ago I was also in a head on collision car accident that was not my fault, and broke my femur bone (upper leg, the strongest and largest bone in the human body) clean in half, when a large van ran a stop sign at an intersection. I filed a lawsuit and received a modest settlement. Most of that money was lost in investments when the market crashed around [protected]. I should have had about $25, 000 left, making me half owner of the house I was living in, but that money mysteriously disappeared too. I have barely been able to walk for the last 10 years, and have a titanium rod and screws in my leg, knee, and hip.
A few months ago I lost my house, and had to move into a low-income housing apartment. I told CitiBank that my situation had changed and that I would no longer be able to make any payments and that I was "defaulting" on the loan. So, for the last two months CitiBank has been calling (from 3 different numbers). They have been calling my cell phone 5 times a day, every single day, for 2 months straight. I have told them at least 4 times to stop calling me, yet they continue. I have had to turn my phone off and can't get important calls from family and friends. Who the hell do these people think they are? They are acting as though I have stolen money from them or something! I have stolen NOTHING. I am simply unable to honor the terms of the loan, which I did not understand in the first place. CitiBank has threatened to take me to court if I don't finish paying the interest on the loan. They have threatened to legally "rape" my disability check to obtain their greedy interest, so that some piece of crap in a $35, 000 suit can buy "another" Ferrari to go to some restaurant and guzzle down a $10, 000 bottle of wine, in one meal, while I try to stomach the garbage food from the Dollar store on the $25 per week I'm allowed in food stamps.
CitiGroup got a multi-billion dollar bail-out from the Government so their failing business can keep stealing money from poor people using usurious interest rates. Well where is MY bail-out? CitiGroup took the American taxpayer's money without their consent, to keep the banking cartel up and running, but they can't forgive me a debt of only about $1500 dollars? They can't reciprocate the same compassion and decency that was given to them?
CITIGROUP, CITIBANK, and CITIFINANCIAL you can GO TO HELL! you filthy, worthless, pieces of crap, and I WILL SEE YOU IN HELL WHEN I GET THERE!

citibank has problems with posting payments to it credit cards
I have mailed in payments twice and it is taking nine to ten days to post. Then they charge a late charge.
I take this to be a scam and it fouls up people's credit ratings.
My third payment is my final payment. I will never use a CitiBank card again. I am waiting for my final statement which will no doubt have a late charge since it has been 8 days ago -- one day past the due date and my check has not cleared my bank.
Shoddy business is not the word.
Sounds like a couple of u f*ckers work for Citibank. I'll bet u were feeling real loyal and decided to Google these victims of yet another business who apparently just screwed the hell up. Every business does it and in fact I was suppose to get paid on 6/10 and was told by Citibank today to give them until 6/22 before calling them back. That’s 72 business hours at 8 hours a day. So stop being some unintelligible d*cost and acting like it was any fault of the consumers for using whatever method of payment they have.
I made two final payments based on their statements. They are now saying that I have $34 still owing because of a payment reversal they say they applied to my account using a closed bank account. I had notified them months earlier that that account was closed and yet they kept trying to withdraw from it. This should make those payments unauthorized, especially since I have been paying the full balance on their statements.
continual harrassment after opt out
In 2009, I received a letter from Citibank, which is the bank that handles SEARS Credit Cards. The letter informed me that because I had not used the card for any transactions for over 6 years or so that they were terminating my card.
I thought, OK. I cut the card up and disposed of it, figuring this was OK.
In January of 2010, I received a bill for the annual $25 or so fee. I thought, this is a mistake because they informed me they canceled my card. i "STUPIDLY" ignored the bill, thinking they would discover their error. Come February 2010, I receive another bill with LATE FEES attached.
I called CITIBANK and talked to no less than 6 representatives, each one having a difference in how this happened and what they were going to do about it... The reps. ranged in commentary/script from, "Sorry, Sir... clearly there is a mistake and we will take care of this immediately", to.. "Oh! I see... it is NOT an annual fee but rather a REWARDS POINTS program that is in place."
I said I would pay the fee and the late fee but that I wanted the card CANCELLED. They stated they would do that.
This was only the beginning of the horror!
In April, every year, I take advantage of the laws that allow free credit reports in the state of NJ. To my absolute disbelief, my credit rating went from high 800's to a dismal 338!...
Why? BECAUSE CITIBANK PUT IN A NEGATIVE REPORT ON ME EVEN THOUGH I PAID THEIR STUPID ANNUAL FEE WHEN THEY TOLD ME MY CARD WAS CANCELED! Sorry for the shouting...
The horror story continues though because this year, in spite of a December 2010 letter stating THEY WOULD NO LONGER BE CHARGING ANNUAL FEES, I received a bill from them for "BONUS AIRLINE MILES PROGRAM" which I NEVER signed up for!
I am getting a minimum of three calls a week at my home number (they are prerecorded, and beg me to call them to "discuss my account" which they terminated in 2009, received my request to terminate in March of 2010.
What the hell is wrong with these people? Are they not getting enough interest to pay the salary increases of their CEO's?
I does not seem worth my effort to even call them to try to straighten this out because they did not do it in 2010!
The only solution I see is to write the NJ Attorney General.
If, however, there are other solutions I would be grateful for a post regarding this.

For the matter of public record, I can verify that NO CHARGES WERE MADE on this account. The fact that CITIBANK will post a negative comment on a credit report for its own INTERNAL fees, falsely charged, is a matter of severe importance.
Because of their complete lack of intelligent consumer representatives, and their ability to, with an ABUSE OF POWER, negatively impact a consumer is the matter which is at hand.

citibank failed to apply an online payment from citibank checking to citifinancial mortgage on time
They held onto the payment for over two weeks before posting it to my account, sending me a late notice and collecting more interest.
The Research Department either didn't fully read my complaint or lost the proof of payment that I faxed.
Citibank statement -- online payments generate no checks, so they sent me a form letter that does not apply asking me to contact Bonita Kenney of the Research Services Department.
After having left Bonita Kenney five phone messages over three days, I got zero phone calls back. Although she logged into the Citibank computer that she did call me once. She did not, as my cell phone and home phone logs all incoming calls and no messages were left.
Of course, the Research Department has no managers (I asked), no names of supervisors, and just forwards you to another voice mail box.
The real issue you have deals with late payment fee more than the interest, banks are making a killing on late payment fee's.
If you have your ducks in a row and can prove that the money was pulled from one account on a certian date to pay your mortage then you have a case and you should contact your Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) or GAO.
What bank do is when you pay a mortage the money is pulled from your account given to the government and then they hold your money for 1 to 2 business days then apply your payment to your mortage, I know it sounds stupid but that is how it works.
So if a person is making their house payment the day before it is due and your on a Friday evening the payment will not go through until the following week on Tuesday, making you late on your payment (this is all on-line).
Recomendation: if you are going to pay your mortage on-line pay it 3 days prior to it being due and do not include the weekends.
Your better off going to your bank when cutting it close for these kinds of transactions.
Since they held your your payment for 2 weeks it sounds like an error either on the governments side who holds your money or your bank didn't send the government the payment at the time stated on your account.
They do this even if it is the same bank for your personnal or mortage account and it is suposed to keep down fraud.
Well they are making money off of you none the less, it is your job to find out were the problem is and I know it sucks because it happened to me and this is how I found out.

I received a letter that Citibank canceled my card. I NEVER had one late payment, did not go over my limit. When They canceled it, I had a ZERO balance. I have a house in foreclosre (like many right now), which made my credit take a hit. So, even though I HAD NO LATE PAYMENTS, they canceled my card.

duplicate charging and fax that doesnt work
I have a citi bank card and because I travel alot, I set up an auto pay through them about a month or 2 ago and was informed it would take about a month for the auto pays start transacting. A few weeks ago I received a few calls from Citi card informing me of a past due (by a few days) amount due, so I called to make payment. When the rep asked me why I didnt pay on time, I informed him that I was thinking that my auto pay would have been activated by now. He informed me that no, it wasnt activated yet and that I needed to pay. So I set it up to pay half of the amount due on the day of the call and the other half due one week later when I was to be paid. Around the time that I was paid, I went to check my bank balance and saw that I had the amount that I authorized pending as well as the entire amount that was originally due through auto pay! So...they basically billed me twice. I dont have a big balance, so the additional auto pay forced me into overdraft with my bank. I called my bank to inform them and I also called Citicard. Citicard said they would issue me a credit of the duplicate auto pay, which they did, but I also asked them to reimburse me for the overdraft charge that my bank charged me for lack of funds. This is where I have the major complaint. I was informed that I would have to write a letter to "Customer Service" and fax them the letter with my explanation along with a copy of my bank statement showing the overdraft charges etc for reference. Well the fax number they gave me doesnt work "BUSY / NO RESPONSE" is all I get. I called again today after trying to fax a few times and was given an alternate fax number that also does not work. When I spoke to the rep on the phone today, she didnt sound suprised that I was having issues. It is so obvious that they are making it hard for the customer, with hopes that we will give up and just take the hit for the fee. If they really cared about their customers they would be able to do this via email or a less outdated method. Im calling them back today to demand another form of communication. I suppose I will just snail mail my request to them if I have to...not going to rest until I get my overdraft fee refunded. Its only fair!

I had been a Citibank Mastercard client for the past eleven years, always paying off balances, now because of just a few late payments, that are easily explainable they cancel my card with no notice. Brutal, ### rates and customer service they can all go f&%$ themselves. I will go out of my way to ensure no friends, families or colleagues ever have the mis-fortune to use this bank.

I had a CitiBank credit card for many years which I rarely used. The few times I used it I had problems with CitiBank properly crediting payments on time which resulted in interest and late payment fees which I disputed and I cancelled my CitiBank credit card. After cancelling my credit card, CitiBank continued to charge fees on the disputed amount although the cardholder agreement states that the primary cardholder is not responsible for any fees after the card is cancelled. Subsequently, CitiBank informed the credit rating agencies that I was in default and that they had written-off the charges as an uncollectible debt which significantly lowered my credit rating. That was over a disputed amount of approximately $250 of which over $200 was for charges/penalties. Those penalties/charges are how CitiBank became the biggest bank in the world which, happily, they no longer are. I hope they go totally bankrupt and their executives go to jail for fraud.
I don't want phone call offers from CC card companies even if i hold their card. I am and have been on the DO NOT CALL lists both Federal and state. This doesn't help!
I had applied online for a citi card thru expedia travel website. They wanted to charge me annual fee $75. I decided to cancel card and they said they would. 30 days later I get robot calls from citi saying I owe $6.26 for fee of cancelling the card and I was 30 days past due on account. They are a fraudulent company and I hope they will be destroyed for what they do to consumers credit. They are going to manufacture a debt. You do the math $6.26 x thousands of people and they fill their pockets. And the Dept of Justice isn't doing anything about it.
I agree with this complaint, Citibank is so unreasonable when it comes to charges and interest! Another thing is they don't provide any site tht clients may vent their grievances! Citibank is so frustrating!

I spoke with customer serve 5 times and each time they seem to be reading from a script leading me to resetting my password. I keep telling them its not a password problem. after the 5th time complaining, they tried to log on from their system and received the same message.

Citifiancial is a predatory lender. They were fined in 2004 and the FTC is supposed to be watching them. CitiGroup uses the same dirty illegal tricks today. They start out with a small personal loan, come across like financial advisors. Then start flipping into another loan, because they won't let you pay it off early. They keep trying to get you to take more money and get your deed. Then CitiMortgage buys up your first mortgage, and you are dead! They foreclose on you from out of state, rip off Freddie Mac . They expect you to pay the equity loan after the house is gone. They wouldn't budge on modification. They are liars, cheats and thieves! CitiGroup is like cancer. They are diseased cells gone bad . scam! credit distruction
On October 5, 2010 I applied for a refinance load and my credit was pulled. I have over 12 months of late payments with Citbank master card showing on all 3 credit bearues. I was concerned with this since I have entered into an agreement with them in September of 2009 where I have been paying each month and have had it automatically withdrawn from my account the entire time. I was unemployed and had asked to make arrangements until I could get back on my feet. Citi bank as well as other financial bank card interesting that Citi bank was the only one who continued to report me. I thought contacting them and arranging a plan to pay instead of ignoring and not paying I was doing the right thing as a consumer. I owned up to my situation and asked for help little did I know if didn’t matter and the arrangements would not help me at all.
. October 2010 -I phoned citi bank and spoke with Tim Collins, I informed him in writing of my concern and could not understand why there any late payments being reported. He informed me I had an outstanding balance of 428.00 I had no idea I had that since I had the arrangement in place. I paid the 428.00 on October 26th and Tim advised me he would research my complaint and that he understand my situation since “he is a consumer too”. He would phone me in 3 days with the outcome. He did not phone me I had to call and talk to Dawn, Mr Storks assistance who transferred me to a person named Mike who assured me that he would call me back today (Friday). I finally got a call back Friday and he stated he needed to research more and he did not have the information. No recording or documentation of conversation of my arrangement. He stated he would call me on Monday or Tuesday to give me the final answer. He called me on my cell phone which is the number I asked him to call me on.
I got a call on Tuesday at my home number (which is in my record but I asked him to call on cell) to inform me that what they report is accurate. They will not remove the late payments from my report. I asked him if he had listened to the conversations that were recorded and he told me that they did not have the recordings they do not keep on file all the time. I asked him how long they are kept on file and he did not know. I asked him if there were notes regarding that they stated I had a late over due payment that was outstanding and that I would have to pay that in addition to the arranged payments. He did not see that conversation. I asked if he had any proof that they had informed me of that and he stated no. It was just their policy. He stated he reviewed this with his supervisor and the determined that it was final. I asked to speak with the supervisor and he stated that she was unavailable and would not speak to me. He gave me the name of Linda on team 8100. I then called Ken Storks office and left him a message and I did not receive a call back from him. I called the next day to talk to Dawn and she transferred me to Tim Collins again. He said he met with Mr. Stork and that the decision was final. I asked to speak with Mr. Stork and Tim stated he does not take phone calls and that he was his voice and there was no way I would be able to talk with him. I then asked if he met in person or on the phone. He told me that was non of my business. And he would send out a letter stating the results.
I was not happy with that answer and called Mr. Storks office again. I get transferred to a Teresa Anderson and she was to look into the case again Teresa said she would investigate again and let me know. Well I had to call her back since she wouldn’t call me and they came to the same conclusion as Tim. I then told her that I was misled and that I had an agreement with Citi Bank to pay my bill and there was not mention of any late pay. November 9th I found my documentation from Citibank regarding my payment arrangements. It states in the letter:, "Please pay the agreed upon amount even if a different amount is printed on your monthly billing statement." Theresa stated that the agreement doesn’t state it will take care of my outstanding balance This makes no accounting sense. They contend they will continue to show me late until I make an additional payment which their own agreement tells me not to make. The agreement shows a balance and no mention of an outstanding balance. Teresa stated “Ms. Morgan there is nothing we are going to do about this” and she doesn’t even want a copy of the letter.
Since I have tried countless times to communicate with Cit Bank I am now forced as a consumer to prove that I am not guilty. I will be filing complaints to Attorney General(s), FTC, The Office of Comptroller Currency, FDIC, BBB, Consumer Affairs, US Justice Dept., Federal Reserve Complaint (OMB), Why hasn’t something been done to help the consumer especially since my tax money helped them out of their financial mess? How come Citi Card doesn’t help their customers? They have no compassion and could care less about their customers.
8 months non-follow up
charge dispute reuest was not done when card is active, was fed-up and cancelled card still till now issues unresolved and no one bother to get back at all. 1)called in 3)email 2)went to branch personally 4) emailed again - nothing was finalised since end of march 2010. Card was cancelled and thats it no one explained what happend and no one retrieve my contact records to review what they had done!

I've been receiving calls from Citi numbers all week, at all sorts of odd hours. I'm a college student and I have just started school again after taking a year off, during which time I handled my responsibilities and paid my student loans on time with the little money I was making. This evening I answered the phone and for once waited through the "please hold for an important message" and silence (which I had thought was a telemarketer until I Googled the number). Once a real human came on the line, she tried to explain to me that I owed Citi $179 for my past due student loan payment and my October payment (the Oct payment technically shouldn't be due until the 25th). This upsets me and makes me think Citibank is shady for multiple reasons... First of all, I'm in school, and I know that Citibank receives that info automatically through a service called Clearinghouse, however back in August when I called to ask them about that, a rep told me that they don't and I needed to print out a form get it signed by "someone" at my school, and mail it in. I set out to do that, but before I could complete the task I received a form in the mail from Citi saying that they had "received info" that I was back in school, and I needed to mail back THAT form in order to have my payments deferred... I sent that back weeks ago, and when I told the caller that, she said, "Oh, let me check and see if we've received it, but if not, I can just update your status over the phone for you." Why couldn't the first person I spoke to in August do that? She came back and told me they had it, but it was still "in process" and I would still receive calls until it was done being processed, but that I could stop that if I made a payment for $89 for September over the phone right now. She really asked me if I wanted to pay them $89 to stop calls that I shouldn't have been getting in the first place? School started at the beginning of Sept and I'm in deferment! I pay dearly for deferment already in the form of capitalized interest... how dare these people try to extort another $89 (plus convenience fees for paying over the phone I'm sure) to stop these extraneous calls? ABSOLUTELY NOT.
It's really nice to see that Citibank is still pulling this crap on people two years later. I made a phone payment on 4/27 that is still not logged on my online account, though it says I made this payment when I'm on their phone system. And their phone system - that's another problem. For ALL the "customer service" numbers they list on their website, you CANNOT get to a HUMAN BEING AT ALL. WFT? Now they're harassing me and my parents because my account is "past due." ###, it's NOT past due. They even threatened collections to my parents! I'm calling the local news stations if I don't get a response to my online customer service request by the end of the day. My dad already told them to shove it. They're gonna regret having to deal with me on this level. I once made a customer service person at Visa actually cry. LOVED IT too!
Awful - I switched to a new bank and as a result had a snafu with my automatic payments. I made a payment through the online system, online system shows it as paid but started getting a number of phone calls and five separate letters within a two week span over Christmas 2011. Made another payment online once I figured out from multiple calls to their customer service center that the payment had actually not gone through, and that something is wrong with the website's processing of the payments. I made a new payment shortly thereafter including late fees (which, by the way, are not separately disclosed within the payment), and now I'm getting text messages from Citibank. I verified with the customer sales rep that prior to this incident I had not been late in the three years since I've held these loans. If I had a choice I'd quickly switch to another lender. Citibank Student Loans are terrible.
Citibank student loan's repayment methods are crap. I just transferred out of a regular 4-year university (with on-campus classes and mandatory continuous enrollment in the year) to a non-traditional Bachelors program that does not require me to do any classes with them or take any classes at any set time to be enrolled with them as a student (you could be continuously enrolled for years without taking a single class with them, if you paid the annual enrollment fee). I tried to make an online account on Citibank's website to steadily repay my Government loan from my previous university, but the website asked me for enrollment status that would be more relevant to ask someone going to a traditional university (like full time or part time status that does not seem to be defined for the sort of college I am in now). I obviously did not want to risk misrepresenting my academic enrollment in anyway, so could not sign up for an online account since this information about my enrollment status (defined in a way that can only be relevant for a traditional university) was mandatory to submit. So I ended up wanting to talk to a real human being before signing up for an online account, and guess what, the customer service number on their website goes to NO HUMAN BEING. THERE IS NO WAY TO EMAIL A REAL HUMAN BEING. GO TO STUDENTLOAN.COM AND YOU WILL IMMEDIATELY SEE WHAT I MEAN. In desperation, I realized that I could NOT take my time to pay off this loan past my grace period, and my grace period would end BEFORE I graduated from the non-traditional university. Once the grace period ended for instance, there would be MORE PROBLEMS if I wanted to set up a prolonged regular payment system. So I ended up paying back all of my federal loan yesterday (it wasn't much, but I could have STILL PAID IT OVER 20 YEARS, IF CITIBANK HAD HAD A DECENT REPAYMENT PLAN AND CUSTOMER SERVICE) on the PHONE to a computer, for an additional 15 bucks to process my payment! This payment would have been free online had I been able to set up an online account (and as I explained, I was not sure what to do in order to register for the online account, as I needed to have a certain enrollment status at my current university and I did not understand what to do with no human being to consult from Citibank's end). I recommend staying away from these monsters, I hear people being harassed all the time with phone calls from them, they are not easy to deal with, though my experience is unique and touches on other things - I have never gone through repayment. Remember, the Government is lazy and outsources its loans through private credit card companies, and these companies do not have your best interest. If you do not get a job, I know Citibank will harass and harass you for repayment and the Government will do very little to relieve you of your financial troubles. Also beware, since the Obama administration started, interest on new Stafford loans has gone to as low as 3.4% (half the lowest value of interest during Bush's presidency), but who knows how long the interest will remain this low, political fortunes keep changing in this country.

One of the worst experiences, if not the worst, for credit card!
Consumer beware:
1) Charge high annual fees $140 and rigid to waive late charges $50 (can only waive once in 12 months)
2) Difficult to cancel card
1st time - called 24-hour service hotline, officer said cannot, will ask relevant dept to call back but no call-back
2nd time - called to cancel, officer said ok but must settle all outstanding fees including late charges / annual fee etc. Fees settled and card cut. But after some time, still received bill and later charges, realised card not cancelled.
3rd time - called to query. Officer said last time tried to call to confirm cancellation and option form for cancellation sent but no response. Told him over the phone already confirm to cancel, officer did not mention there are follow-up form to be done. officer then said will cancel but again must settle the fees.
4) Agent hard sell for SMRT linked citibank credit card at AMK hub. Card is never used for a few months, but when called to cancel, officer said have cancellation charges of $150! if want to cancel, must wait for 1 year but the agent did not mention about this. If wait for another year, not sure by then what other excuses they have to charge the card-holders?

Citibank offered me a mastercard with a $5000. 00 limit. I began a kitchen remodel and spent $2000. 00 on appliances. A week later i received a letter stating that my credit limit has been cut to $1, 200. 00, and they stated charging me $39. Over the limit fees. When i called citibank they could not give me a direct answer, but would remove the fee each month after i called and harass them abit. Now i got a letter that my account it closed and i would have to reapply for another card. Citibank offers terrible service, would not recommend.

I had received a call from someone @ citibank on feb22/09, that I need to make my minimum payment asap.
The citibank employee called me from an anonymus number too. I told that person from citibank no problem I will try to pay the full balance in 2 days of $2000.00. I also stated that I had no access to the computer for a few weeks because it was getting fixed @ Future Shop. I do most of my stuff on line. Then this citibank told me "it's ok mam" please take care of your account asap". Then on february 25/09 I tried to use my card @ one of the electronics stores, and the associate got some weird message on their computer, and the store manager said we cannot release your card @ this time. I have no idea what happened? So that night when I got home and phoned these ### and they told me "oh this account has been closed since feb 20th. What a bunch of losers. I will never ever deal with this company again..citibank sucks!
CITIMASTERCARD UPPED MY CREDIT LIMIT OCCASIONALLY ALL THE WAY TO $9100 then without any advance notice dropped it to $3100 I had purchase checks already mailed out above this new limit! Hate this company never again will i deal with them!
