After reading info on this website, my3cents.com, /link removed/ and the recent lawsuit settled in California I was concerned about Citi.

I am retired and unemployed. I attempted to negotiate a payoff offer with Citi a few months ago. It didn't happen because I asked to speak with a manager and he was so rude and condescending I gave up.

I tried again recently. I talked with a Ms Nolan (she was the third person I talked to; I asked to speak to someone who can make a decision.) We agreed upon a payoff amount and she gave me a due date. I asked her to fax me a confirmation (having read that Citi had received a final payoff, then demanded more money). I waited over an hour; no fax. I called back and got a person who identified herself as the "answering service". I left a msg with her for Ms Nolan that the fax is ready. Feeling uneasy, I typed my own confirmation and faxed it. I think it is strange that the fax number on my fax receipt is 2677772 and not the fax number I dialed as shown on their website.

Over an hour later I called again. Spoke to a Ms Strickland and went through the entire scenario again. She told me Ms Nolan didn't complete the "settlement macro". (This is not my problem.) She said their department doesn't send confirmations until after the payoff is made. (they need to tell Ms. Nolan) Then she asked me what do I plan to do if this is not accepted? I told her it is already accepted and I have a due date. Then she said, "oh, the manager had accepted it, he was just waiting for the "macro" to be completed." I was asked to call back in two days.

I called back in two days and Ms Strickland told me they are not accepting any more settlements and I would have to pay the full amount or do an amendment (to stretch out payments). I told her this is not right because I have an agreement and I do not intend to prolong my relationship with Citi. The call ended with me telling her this is why Citi is in so much trouble. . . you pay when you don't treat people right.

I am not protesting the mounds of interest I have paid; that was my mistake. I am protesting the way companies such as this play with people's lives and jerk them around. I don't know if it is incompetence or dishonesty, but whatever it is, it is out of control.

I filed a complaint with the FTC because Citi and its representatives cannot be trusted.

I have concluded that there is a conspiracy to ensure that middle and low income Americans never OWN ANYTHING! One of the problems is that no one cares about the fate of Americans because these companies are not run by Americans. I guess they haven't heard the trite expression, "When America gets a cold, everybody sneezes." I hope if anyone is considering Citixxxx, they will read some of this info before proceeding:

I have my auto financed through this company, as of january 2017 i lost income of 400.00 a month, i applied for an amendment to lower my payments as i could no longer pay the 420.00 a month. After two months of having to submit info twice, never getting a return call, only getting persons voice mail each time i called which half the time i could not leave a message as his mailbox was full. I was denied the amendment because i do not have enough income. Well if i had enough income i would not be asking for an amendment. They didn't even call me to tell me this i had to call them. I tried to call the department that does the approvals and denials to see what other options i had,but once again all i got is a voice mail and no return call. I'am now forced to voluntarily turn my vehicle over for repo.

Citifinancial Auto is a nightmare for everyone i've talked to so far. Here's my story:
in july of 2017 i called citifinancial to arrange payment on a past due payment. I wuz OFFERED a program called a "deferral". which was then explained to me that it means this: they will give me two months with no payments and move the two payments that i was behind to the end of the loan and i would owe my first payment starting back in october of 2017. i was told that i would be getting a three month deferral meaning no payment until october. well, in september of 2017 i got a statement saying that i recieved a TWO month deferral and my payments were to start back in september of 08. i called citifinancial and talked to a manager again, and they told me that they must have made a mistake, they apologized, said that they would be sending me a NEW confirmation letter, and that everything was fixed. i said thank you, he said your welcome and we hung up. well, in october of 08 i got a bill saying i owed for SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER. so i called again. this time the manager "informed" me that there must've been some mix up, and i waz told wrong information. that thier company policy will only allow for me to have TWO months at max. i was also told (in a previous conversation with a different manager) that i was entitled to 8 months total over the entirety of the loan. well the manager today "informed" me that there are all kinds of stipulations that i wasnt told before. such as: if you have payed for six months, your entitled to two months max, payed for a year, entitled to four months max, etc. then he proceeds to tell me that "his records" show that i havnt talked to anyone since august and they "supposedly" told me that i was only entitled to a two month deferral, when this simply isnt the case. so basically i am stuck owing the same amount as i did when this whole thing started and in a WORSE money situation than i was then because of someone TELLING me one thing and DOING something else. and they say that this is all legal because they sent me a confirmation letter telling me that i only had a two month deferral EVEN THOUGH they "supposedly" fixed the mistake that was made on thier parts, and now I am to be held responsible for THIER mistakes. He basically tells me Sorry for you... Shouldnt someone hold THEM responsible for THEIR actions? i mean, after all, ive alwayz been held accountable for MY actions all throughout my life. Or am i to be one of the many (im sure) "scapegoats" for thier mistakes and lak of orginization? So in the end (of course) big corporation wins, little "peon customer" loses. his attitude was "sorry about your luck"... any suggestions anyone what might be able to be done about this? im at a loss... tazmaniak24_06@yahoo.com i STRONGLY suggest that NOONE EVER uses citifinancial auto... When i informed him that he should be a little nicer to the customers, he said..."We did YOU a favor by giving you the loan in the first place"... talk about costumer service... so after three months of being passed back and forth from one "branch" to another (that obviously doesnt communicate with each other) i'm now bak at square one, only now a corporate a**hole is sitting bak and laughing his snotty little butt off, at my expense for their mistakes...

First of all learn how to spell, secondly figure out which year you are in!

There are many horror stories about just about any lending company.

I agree they use poor tactics to deal with their customers.

The corporate world needs to make sure they are training their personnel more completely.

Trouble is they outsource most of their dirty work to companies who are less than wholesome.

Thus we receive the harsh attitudes of underpaid workers who hear enough all day long from unhappy customers. Their only recourse is to be nasty to someone on the other end of the phone who are at their wits end.

It's unreal how our world has become so inhumane.

Well, they have also seemed to have screwed me. After "katrina", i recieved a letter saying that i could defer payments for ninety days, and the payments would be moved to the end of my note. my note is scheduled to end in march 08 (plus the other three months); however they have more than doubled the amount that i should owe. I should owe 2600(they show 5400). Somebody please help me(in the name of Jesus!)

the guy that says he obtained a loand in 7/08? First of all he may have gotten a bit further had he of gottne the date right. 2nd again if his payments would have been made in a timely manner he would not have had this happen.

To the cusomter affected by Katrina all loans affected by this horrible event were given adjustments.

To the person whose son is in the military, all efforst have been made to accomodate those over seas. it is the LAW, one that this company has followed to the T!

In September 2017 I refinanced with Citifinancial Auto in order to lower monthly payments. I spoke with their loan officer Mr. Thomas. I told him that when I purchased the vehicle I had bought 3 other packages with it including GAP insurance. I asked if every thing would transfer and be the same on the new loan. He assured me it would all transfer. In April 2017 I had an accident. I swerved to miss a deer and struck a tree totaling my vehicle. My insurance company STATE FARM did very well. They handled everything quickly and fairly. They sent Citifinancial a check. When I called Citi about the total loss they then informed me I had NO gap insurance. I was very upset. Had I known I would have purchased GAP thru State Farm. I spoke with over 5 different managers (I have all their names) who told me it was too bad. One said "Sorry about your luck". I couldn't believe it. I got the number of the home office in New York and was told they would do a presidential inquiry. Two days later a gal named Amanda called me and said they could possibly do an amendment for the balance which was approx 8000 dollars. This would only decrease my payment and extend the loan. I was very upset because I was lied to over and over again. I was unable to find a dealer who could roll over that amount of money into another vehicle. So I called this Amanda back and was told that maybe they could do a settlement for a little less money but she couldn't tell me how much and that the total would be due in 2 weeks if I did that. I explained to her that I had spoken to my attorney who stated I had a very good case. He has advised me to fight them and not pay them another dime. I had every reason to believe that I had Gap Insurance. The kicker is when I spoke to Mr. Thomas 3 days after I found I didn't have Gap he remembered the conversation and said he really just meant my warranty transferred. I AM NOT STUPID the warranty has nothing to do with the financial end of the loan. That is thru the dealer. I am very upset that this company will not do what it says it will do. I also own a business and would never treat one of my customers this way. I stand behind what I tell my customers and what my employees tell my customer. What happened to honest and fair companys. I will never deal with them again nor will any of my family or friends. I tell everyone I know not to deal with them. I have registered complaints with the BBB and the Attorney Generals office. I hope Citi steps us to the plate and does what is right.

Citifinancial keeps taking out my car payment after I traded in the car and the dealer has sent in payoff, I have contacted citifinancial and they claim they have not gotten the payoff I signed papers over 33 days ago and have a new car but they keep taking the car note out of my checking account and I can't get it stopped today, according to my lawyer I have to close out my checking account of 16 years to stop them from taking out the payments and file legal actions against them to get the money back the dealer Rick Hendricks Chevrolet where I bought both cars and GM has been no help or support to me in this matter and calling citifinancial is a joke I can't get anyone on the phone that speaks English that you can understand.

God bless you.

Stupidity is one thing. Stupidity, rudeness, and the inability to command the English language are three.

But intentionally misleading consumers and profiting from it becomes a TORT. I hope you sue them and get everything you can from them before any class-action suit is brought.

To the person that works for Citifinancial Auto who claims that the company works with customers. I read your post on the complaints board regarding Citifinancial Auto and every one of these people have a legitimate complaint about a company you seem to have NO clue about. I'm sorry but I have sat on the phone with my sister, who is a Citifinancial customer, and listened to one rep after another say the matter has been taken care of and the account is clear. My sister pays her loan every month ON TIME via wire transfer. The company calls us I'd say an average of 4 times a week asking us to call them telling her her CHECK bounced.. check? She pays by wire transfer thru Money Gram, if it bounced it would never have gone thru in the first place, then they argued with her that she sent in a check which she did not. Five times we've worked with the same person to "correct" the lapse in insurance error claiming she has insurance and it only lapsed one month and she paid the one month as instructed by yet another CSR, they told her that she needs to pay $87 dollars now then an additional $87 dollars with her next payment which she did. Then they send her a letter claiming she now owes over $1400.00, when she calls she's now told she owes over $1500.00 from the date of the letter it's gone up $100 in 1 week? Then she gets another letter stating that they've credited her back the $1700.00...$1700.00? WTF last week it was $1500.00. So she figures she's all clear and continues making payments as usual, then her freaking car gets repossesed. So before you go around saying that unless you are 100+ days past due they won't repossess your car then you're delusional. She is current with all her payments never missed a payment yet she still gets harrassed, sent to 3 different people WHO DO NOT MAKE NOTES IN THE COMPUTER BY THE WAY, because if they did we wouldnt' have to sit on the phone for 2 hours retelling the story 3 different times. No notes are made nothing stating that she was told to make the $87 dollar insurance payment or the next make up payment. And the rep tells her to get her insurance company to "back date" the insurance coverage to show she was covered for that one month when she was not. She tells them "that's insurance fraud, I'll pay the one month." What kind of advice is that to commit insurance fraud?

Last year my sister signed up for help with her payment while she was unemployed. She paid it like she was supposed to then they called her up after she finished and stated she paid short for the last 6 months and why was she only making a payment of $200. When she told them she'd signed up for the discount payment for six months they said NO YOU DIDN'T. She even faxed them the paperwork she was sent regarding the discount payment to show them and had even asked the woman that offered it to her if she needed to "sign" anything and she was told NO. Yet they have NO RECORD OF THIS ONCE AGAIN?

You really need to get your head out of your butt if you think that Citifinancial isn't lieing to their customers and scamming them along the way, I've sat on those calls as a WITNESS to what the reps are telling my sister because she got tired of being told one thing then something totally different from another rep who had no clue what transpired previously. I work in the customer service industry and your company has a lot to learn about customer service and making customers happy.

This is the worst company I've ever had the misfortune of NOT dealing with, if I decide to get another car it better not get financed by Citifinancial because I will walk from the deal and bicycle if they are my only option. Who the hell wants to be harrassed weekly when you are making your payments on time?

Not once did I EVER hear from my loan company when I had a car loan, the only time I heard from them was when I paid off my car and they sent me my title.

Don't want to repossess your car my ###. They credit her the insurance charges back she continues to make her payments monthly thinking all is well and yet your company still reposessed the damn car.

We too are currently havng the same problem. We have called and also written letters attempting to get them to lower our truck payment and they also told us that we didnt have enough income coming in. We also told them if that were the case, then why would we be calling you?! I think that this must be their "standard" line when someone calls looking for assistance. Im my book, Citifinancial Auto (Citigroup) is NO better than all of the PREDATORY lenders that are out there right now! Consumers beware! Do not take out a loan with Citifinancial Auto!

I have been ASKED by CitiFinancial to provide information to get an "amendment"--I have submitted it twice and they contiue to tell me that they have not recieved any fax from me.
When I didn't hear from anyone, I decided to make a payment on my vehicle at the current rate and was locked out from making the payment online. When I called to make the payment, they woman told me to "wait" until someone called me--no one ever did--until this morning when they called DEMANDING I make a $600 payment to 'get current'---and then they argued with me about the fact that no one there ever returns phone calls. I wish I had a number for someone OTHER than "Mr. Schaeffer" (who by the way, refuses to give me a last name)--I guess my only option is to surrender the car or try to make the $600 payment, which wouldn't have been late had they not told me to "wait"

This is ridiculous

I have had nothing but problems with this company since they financed my car through the dealer in January of 2017. The biggest issue is them not processing payments when the receive them or claiming that they did not receive a payment, then "finding" it two weeks later, which of course means more fees for them. I finally gave in and set my account up on automatic payments only to have them take out the same payment twice in September 08 AND October 08 for a total of $1600 in two months! This caused a ton of fees from my bank which they say they are not responsible for. It took two months to get them to refund the extra $800 they took only to have them charge me a fee to do that! The customer service agents are the most rude people I have ever sponken to, they will barely give you their first name, never their last and even the managers are awful. I have had to close my bank account twice now because of them taking unauthorized payments and now they have done it again. I mailed a check to them Tuesday from Virginia and they presented it to my bank Tuesday. I of course did not have enough money in there (my check is DD Wednesday) but my bank paid it anyway for a "small" fee. When I called them today to inquire how they could possibly have the check I put out in the mail the same day I mailed it even though they are five states away I was told they could process payments when and how they see fit. It was presented to my account as an auto draft and they bank says that I will have to come in and close my account and open a new one (gain! ) to keep them out of it. The manager at my bank sugessted I take to paying them by certified check or money order so they do not have any banking information on me. I still can't believe that they think it is okay to take you information off your check, keep it on file, and use it to take their money when they see fit. Every single time I call them I am placed on hold, interuppted, and spoken to in an extremely rude manner. It is to the point that I would rather they take the car so I do not have to deal with them. And I have never been late with a payment! I can't imagine how they treat those that are. GRRRRR.

They are taking my money and my payment coupons are not right. I owe 350.00 a month and over pay everymonth. Now they want 566.00 this month...they tell me it is because I over paid last month...DUH...how does that make my payment higher...? The fact that I have been over paying for over a year now I figured I shouldn't even get a bill...and they tell me I have over paid only 200.o0 and now they want MORE...The girl Kim says I can not talk with anyone else...She was the only one on the floor to help me and she has no idea on any of this...THEY SCREWED UP AND I want some answers...I will never use citifinancial again if this is how we get treated.

I obtained a car loan through Citifinancial in December of 2017. In the 4 months I have dealt with them I have had nothing but HELL. They give me 4 different answers each time I call them. Now they have deducted my checkiong account for 2 payments and I have incurred $150.00 in overdraft charges at my bank. I had one person tell me to get a letter from my bank on their letterhead stating my account was drafted 2 and the amount of overdraft fees. Now they want a copy of my running bank statment. I have 2 weeks untill I get paid again and they tell me that it will take 3 days to approve the refund, plus another 5 days to process and then they will mail a refund to me. I told them that if they could draft my account they could deposit it in my account and they stated they can't do that. They tell me they understand my situation but they are not the ones without any money for gas, food or utilities for 2 WEEKS! I cannot get to anyone at this company who seems willing to help. Beware of Citifinancial Auto.

Most of the customer care people could not speak English well, sounds it is outsourced by other countries. Simple request are not handled after two weeks, and that's you gonna be pissed so bad. They will promise onething, but break that promise next. Caution, DO NOT GET CITIFINANCIAL AUTO in your next car purchase, the lousiest service I ever had.

I have had a car note with Citifinancial Auto since November of 2017. In that short time a lot has happened. I ended up losing about 1/3 of my income. My boyfriend lost his job and I've been staying on top of everything...rent, car, utilities...everything is being paid by me and my job where I make less than $2k /month. I have never been with a company that treated me more like a criminal than a customer. Citifinancial Auto consistently is rude, mean and harrasses me on a daily, sometimes 5 times daily basis. I have not gotten more than 30 days behind on my payment which I think is pretty good considering, but Citifinancial Auto has to let me know on a daily basis what a loser I am. They call all the way up until 8:59pm. If I would have known this is the way they handled business, I would have never even bought this car. I feel like I am a pretty responsible person and I'm doing the best I can, but Citifinancial Auto wants to make sure they try to brow beat me into paying them. They tell me that because I'm late that I'm on their "dialer" which automatically dials me three to six times a day. Even if I answer and explain the situation and give the actual date that I will be giving them more money, they still harrass me EVERY DAY! Their employees are, for the most part, RUDE, MEAN, NASTY. They yell at their customers...I actually had one guys tell me to "Please SHUT UP". I have spoken with two people there who were nice and respectful, but that's it. This is by far the worst company I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Save yourself the trouble and go ANYWHERE but CITIFINANCIAL AUTO. THEY ARE THE WORST. If this is how they treat somebody that is only one month behind...I wonder what it's like for people who are way behind.

I'm not done with them yet. We all need to get together and get them exposed. This is cruel and unusual treatment when people are struggling as it is and there are actual deadbeats out there not intentionally paying their bills when we are and then get our only transportation taken away? Not for non payment, partial payment in good faith.

Never Never Never again and word of mouth is the best so SPEAK UP!

I think a news station would like to hear these stories or do a TV investigation show about Citi Financial Auto. Not one person can give the right answer when you call them, not even a simple question. I will help. I have nothing but dr appointments to go to and the rest of my time I can spend making Citi Financials life hell.

My husband is military and recently we got stationed in Germany when shipping our car that we had a loan with thru Citi we asked what we needed from them to ship the car to Germany.. they told us just to fax our orders.. so we did... we went to ship our car.. but couldnt b/c citi wouldnt approve it to be shipped b/c now they needed about 5 other papers... we sat in an office 6 hours away from home.. to try and ship our car that day.. citi promised as soon as they got the papers they would approve it.. well 4 hours later.. they still wouldnt approve it.. no one spoke good english.. and even though i knew i was talking to different people the each time.. they all had the same name.. we werent able to ship our car that day.. it couldnt be shipped until the next week.. when citi finally got around to "processing" our paper work.. a 6 hour trip wasted..

We are air force and after we finally got our car to germany.. All our bill dates changed.. So we asked citi to change our payment date to the first of the month instead of the 23rd... The said it was fine.. And they cancelled our payment on the 23rd and our next payment would come out on the 1st of the next month.. We have our citi payment coming out of our state side bank along with our car insurance.. We have an allotment that goes into that account on the 30th of each month enough for each of those two bills.. Another reason for the change.. After letter citi know this and getting a confirmation number that everything was taken care of.. We went about our business.. Well a few weeks later.. We realized they took out the payment on the 23rd still.. And a payment on the 1st.. Which brought our account negative.. Which returned our insurance payment.. 190 dollars in fees.. We called for them to fix it.. But they needed a statement.. Understandable.. The lady told us she sees they took out an extra payment but now it shows that we dont owe a payment for two months.. So we could just leave it and they could just pay back our fees they caused.. Which was fine.. Then.. I get the bill.. A bill sent after I spoke with her.. A bill showing both payments that were made.. And to my surprise it said we owed another payment in a few weeks.. The lady lied.. ! And if I would have believed her.. I would have had another fee on my darn account.. Every time I talk to someone different at citi.. They say the opposite of what the last person I spoke to said.. I hope this company goes down in the recession.. And the ceo looses everything he has for running such a terrible company.. Obviously he is not concerned with keeping his people happy.. Every time I have to talk to these people it is about a problem they have caused.. Or can not fix.. I have dealt with including worked for many top banks.. And this one is by far the worse one I have every had to cross.. And when this car loan is done.. I will never.. ! Never! Deal with this low bank ever.. Again in my life time..

I too am going through the same situation! Twice I was asked to submit the information ( because they didn't receive it the first time) and twice I did! They continued to tell me that they did not receive my information - until a half hour of arguing on the phone and all the sudden they found it! They said someone will be in touch with me in a few days. 2 weeks went by, I received a phone call asking for a payment I explained I am waiting for the amendment department to contact me - I asked for a phone # and I was told that they didn't have one for that department that they all work together, but they could get in touch via email and have some one call me! So, another week went by and the phone call came I was approve my payment dropped from $553.00 to $420.00! Great the company my husband was working for filed bamkrupcy with no warning and it took 5 weeks to get his first unemployment check so we had the money for that kind of a payment. So, gladly I made the $420.00 payment - the next month came I called in talked to a rep made another $420.00 amendment payment (plus phone fees) thinking everything was fine I just picked up the phone called in to make my 3rd $420.00 amendment payment ---WRONG! I owe $640 some dollars my regular payment ($553), some late payments and the difference from not makeing the full payment the last month (not the first amendment payment) they are telling me that they NEVER received any of the paper work and that I was NEVER aproved for the amendment! I again asked for a number for that department and again denied! When I asked for the guys name I got "Floor Manager" --- Nice! After several minutes of argueing his name is Chris - just Chris!
NOW WE HAVE TO COME UP WITH $640 SOME DOLLARS TO KEEP OUR CAR! WOW WHAT A COMPANY!
MY ADVISE TO ANY TRYING TO GET AN AMENDMENT DON'T - - - YOU'RE NEVER APPROVED - EVEN AFTER YOU'RE APPROVED!

I also have a car loan with CitiFinancial. I have just spent the last 2 hours trying to speak with someone in customer service in the United States of America! Each time I call there is a foreign sounding person on the other end of the line and come to find out, these people are from India. They asked me for my social security number - I said I do not give out that info. They said that CitiFinancial Auto is based in India. I asked for a corporate office phone number in the U.S. and the guy gave me a wrong number. I have lost my husband, my job, my mother and the stress of trying to make arrangements for my future payments has left me exhausted and quite honestly indifferent. This is our society America. No one really cares. That is the reality. We each have to stand up and fight for every morsel of deserved consumer assistance CitiFinancial should be offering. It is an absolutely exhausting experience.

The exact same thing happened to me and I have been trying for over a month to get the overdraft fees refunded. I have faxed bank statements 5 times, called evry day for more than a month, on the phone at least 20 - 30 minutes each time. They keep telling me they never got my faxes, please resend. I have been screamed at, hung up on, transferred over and over to the wrong departments and treated very poorly. I think they believe if they continue with these tactics I will eventually giveup. I emailed the executive response unit 2 times for dispute resolution and have never received a response back from them. The faxes are sent to Texas yet all of my calls are routed to India where they tell me another department handles faxes and they cannot help me.

I am astounded that a bank this big can get away with this! I cannot find any other contact info anywhere for this company.

This is basically the same thing that has happened to me!
My income was dropped in half due to the economy. So, I called Citifinacial Auto about the amendment. I faxed the paperwork twice (because they said they didn't get it the first time), called back the days they told me, did the over the phone evaluation and was told I was approved but had to wait for the final process, so I waited again and called back when they said to find out my new payment. Now I've been told that I have a late fee and my amendment was denied because I was late on my payment! I started the process 2 weeks before my payment date and was told it would be done 2 days before my payment was due. So frustrating! Now I have to pay my regular car payment, plus a late fee and start all over again on the amendment. :( What was the purpose of the whole waiting game? To get an extra late fee payment?

I'm ready to start a petition and contact the BBB if they do not stop this!
I've read to many similar stories across the WWW.
They tell you they didn't get the fax, tell you to wait, you end up having you get late charges, etc etc same story.

I suffered a total loss of the financed vehicle on September 6th, 2017. After 2 months of waiting for the GAP insurance company to confirm whether they would pay or not I contacted Citifinancial for help in getting the insurance company to at least answer my call.

I was told not to make payment until the matter with the insurance company was resolved. Further attempts to defer a payment or make payment arrangements while waiting for the insurance where met with the same 'we can't do anything until the insurance company contacts us' Meanwhile I kept receiving late payment letters and phone calls constantly.

When the insurance finally faxed confirmation of the denial of claim, I again tried to take advantage of the wonderful options offered to me by Citifinancial on the letters I was receiving for being over due. I explained that I wanted to take option 4 which was to take the $9000 left after my primary insurance company paid them and spread it out over the remaining life of the loan (3 years).

I had called the payment center, I was told to call the insurance department, the insurance department said they had no idea why I was told to contact them and my call was transferred to the recovery department. The recovery department said I should have spoken to Payments, I explained I had, and they gave me another number to call. This went on for 2 hours.

After all that time I spoke with no one that was able to help, inform, or in any way be helpful. And the late payment phone calls and letters continued. All this after following THEIR advice to not make a normal monthly payment until after the insurance company has paid the claim.

Now, unemployed and without a vehicle they want $4000 in payments plus fees immediately. Every time I call the company my call is redirected, bandied about, and sometimes even disconnected. They've acknowledged that I was told to hold off payment until the insurance companies had paid but, they won't help me begin to make payments to them now that I want to eliminate this debt just not all at once. And they won't accept one months payment to get things on schedule or remove the fees their advice created.

After 6 months they have reported my account past due over 120 days on my credit report AND sent my account into collection. Wonderful costumer service.

Exact same thing here. I'm trying to get the loan amended due to a drop in income and was told I didn't make enough money. My response was the same. if I made more money, I wouldn't have this problem. During the process of submitting the amendment (income, expenses, etc.) the first time, they asked for two references. They also said I had to be current on the loan to file the amendment so I made another payment of $667. Well they didn't get back to me after 10 days so I called them and finally got through to someone. The girl was very helpful but said I was denied due to lack of income. She said that the drop in my car payment would be over 60% of my net income after expenses. She then asked if anything had changed. I told her I changed cell phone plans that lowed my cell bill by $120 a month (Sprint, you should check it out). She then resubmitted the amendment request and said I should keep an eye out for a fax. No fax ever came. Now we've fallen behind again and they are using the references and calling them to collect! I called back in to check on the status and got another guy that said he didn't know what the status was and was resubmitting the amendment again. He said he doesn't "go into the details" of the formula because it's different for every person because their expenses are different. i didn't tell him that I thought that was BS, that's what the formula's for. So now I'm going to checkup again today to listen to why they've denied me again. I too don't believe they're interested in amending anything. They are simply a collection department that has gotten very advanced at doing just that. If anyone has any success, please email at xxjasonsnewemail@gmail.comxx (remove the x's)

My suggestion is to definitely pay them using a money order. I gave them my account information yesterday after being told they do not store payment information. The next day they called back again and while on the phone with the agent I checked my account... - $370.99 !
The account was drawn upon using information gained from the phone call I had with their customer service representative... This company has been a NIGHTMARE to deal with! You are better off to go to a "Buy Here/Pay Here" place to get a car. At least there you can see the person you are giving your money to... No risk of them raping your bank account and credit.

I am so glad I looked at this website today. I have had a loan with Citi for two years and every time I have to deal with them, I think, "What idiots!". It doesn't make me feel too great knowing that idiots are controlling my car loan and have my personal and financial information. I receive 10-15 automated calls a day even when I have already set up a payment. This costs me money! Also, I have been told many different things regarding the phone fee, including that the fee applies to the principal balance, applies to interest, is only a fee that they pocket and that it is not charged if you are on an automatic pay plan. The customer service people are rude, not helpful and often do not have answers to questions. Is anyone actually running this company? I am trying to get a new lender but in the current economic situation, it's not so easy. Looking for a lawyer. I think we have a good shot at a lawsuit.

I too have fallen pray to their lies! I am a disabled single mother of 2 and I lost part of my income and asked back in April for a Hard Ship loan adjustment (this is to help lower the interest rate which lowers the payment). I was told that since I made March's payment and was current then I could apply for the hard ship and to fax them my income information, did that. Then after several phone calls to them, I was told no decision was made yet and that I MUST have a fax number for them to send me the documents to sign, once approved. I explained that I only have the local library to fax from and that they will not take incoming faxes, so if they would overnight me the papers I would fax them back that day and I would also send the originals overnight to them as well, all at my expense. Made several phone calls and left messages for someone to call me back, no one ever did. Well then May came around and I finally got a call from them! The call was regarding Aprils car payment and when can I made it? Confused, I explain about the amendment and that I had left messages and hadn't heard anything so maybe they could tell me something. Again I was told no decision made yet and I asked for a live manager! Again I explained the amendment and she did tell me they needed more information, an expense break down, so I gave her the information. (I even faxed everything to them again so my bases where covered.) Now while I was on that call the manager also told me that they wanted to defer 2 payments, Aprils & Mays, so my loan would still show current while they were making their decision. I waited a few days and called them again for their decision. Again they told me I MUST have a fax number for the documents to be sent for me to sign and again I explained the whole fax thing and was told she would note it on the account so the documents would be sent overnight. Great! Finally this is all taken care of! Several days went by and no papers. Worried, I start making calls to them and no one knows anything now, so I left several voice mail messages again for supervisors (who never call me back). I spent the rest of May and all of June making calls and leaving messages. Well then July comes around and they called to ask for my payment for June, which I didn't pay yet and was a few days late so they would have to call me. After I explained the past few months to the man on the phone, I asked to speak to a manager. Now once the manager got on the phone I again went through the whole story: April - asked for a hard ship loan adjustment & faxed information; May - manager finally tells me they need expense information & that she deferred 2mths in payments; June - no one will tell me anything. Now this manager processed to tell me that they denied my hard ship request because I asked for the 2mth deferment on payments, it canceled out my hard ship request; I can't have both. ARE THEY SERIOUS! First of all I Never asked them to defer the payments (they made that decision), like my lost of income would be better in a few months! I asked for the hard ship loan because my income was lower and wasn't going to go back up! Secondly, that would be really stupid of me to ask them to defer payments knowing that it would cancel out my request for the amendment, what I desperately needed! So after almost 2hrs of arguing with them on the phone, I am told that if I make Junes payment and they will put in a request again for me. Then she processed to tell me that I probably wont get it due to the deferments and should really wait 6-7mths and try again!

Now, after 3mths of being lied to and they deferred my payments without my requesting it, I am screwed! I don't want my credit messed up because of their games, so I have made Junes payment and will have to figure out from here how to make future high payments. I will however NEVER do business with them again, NEVER recommend them again, and I will NEVER let this matter come to an end! I will contact whoever I need to regarding this matter and their very poor business practices!

Report them to department of consumer services in your state then file complaint under the fair debt collection act, collectors know what that is and are suppose to follow it, if not a lawsuit could stop the threats. I use to be a collector and know the ropes fairly well and rudeness gets you nowhere. Go get them

Citifinancial Auto are nothing but cons! If you check /link removed/ you should see all the complaints they have there.. I think everyone needs to get together and get some kind of class action lawsuit against them. They have conned and ripped off so many innocent people, it's sickening! And how they get away with it, is beyond me .. I had set up payment were they took the money directly out of my account every month, this last time I got a call saying that my checking account had insufficient funds, well this was due to the fact they took out two payments, which was clearly on my bank statement, so "Ms. G said for me to fact my statement over and they would reverse the charges.. well I did so and nothing was done, the embarrassment of having bounced checks due to their neglect has me livid!

I have been financing a truck through Citifinancial Auto since Dec. 2017. In June or July of 2017, I did not carry collision/comprehensive insurance because my insurance company wanted $1400.00. Citifinancial Auto added the insurance on to my monthly payment. It was $84.00 for the insurance added to $293.77 for a total of $377.77 a month. In January of this year, I switched to State Farm Insurance and had full coverage which included collision & comprehensive at a cost of $148.40 per month. The insurance information was sent in to Citifinancial Auto's Insurance Department in Pennsylvania. But when I got my Febuary statement, I found that not only was I still being charged a "CPI" monthly payment, but now it was $118.88 added on to my regular monthly payment. I have called them numerous times about this and even had my insurance agent fax them another copy of my insurance. One rep that we talked to told me that it had been taken off, but I am still recieving statements showing $118.88 due. I have paid them a total of $1944.36 from Feb. thru July 27, 2017. My regular payments from that period totaled $1762.62. I am still recieving phone calls about my account as of this date and my online statement is showing that I am 11 days past due for July. I sent an e-mail yesterday about everything that I have written here and requested either an e-mail response or a written letter. I have even been online requesting a payment plan that they offer, and everytime I fill the form out and submit it, it tells me "due to the information you submitted, you do not qualify for a payment plan". I have a personal loan thru Citifinancial, which is a "sister" company of Citifinancial Auto, and I have been able to rework my loan with several times to get a lower payment. And I can talk to them in person and get a better response than I do from Citifinancial Auto. I asked if I could make my truck payment thru them and I was told that they were not setup to take payments from Citifinancial Auto. They said that was being worked on, but that has been going on for at least a year now. I hope that someone who works for Citifinancial Auto reads this complaint and can reply to it.

Have you ever recieved a letter from a finance company telling you that there were ways to find a solution such as "reworking your loan for a lower payment" or "reducing the interest rate" or "deferring a payment" and finding out you do not qualify for a payment program?

I was behind on my payments for the month of july and halfway through august when they took my car. I made arrangements to get my account up to date, after paying I received a call back from the office manager telling me what I needed to do to get the car back. I had to pay Citifinancial $350, she was unable to itemized or tell me what these fees were exactly for. She then also informed me that the car was taken to an auction and I had to make arrangements with them to pick up the car. When I contacted them they informed me I had to pay them $200 to get the car. This all added up to over $500 on top of the late fees incurred for my late payments. This is in my opinion robbery and abuse from these big financial firms. They already charge an outrageous rate to lend money. To repossess a car for two month late payment and incurr $500 in unknown fees is outrageous.
