not receiving payments
I have been paying my CitiFinancial account for sometime now. In the last 3 months I have mailed my payments to them in their attached envelope and twice out of the three months they call me and tell me my payment has never been received so there will be a late charge and everytime the payment is not paid they add on a $2.00 fee. Both times I have had to pay to stop payments on the original checks. I don't know what they do with their mail when they receive it but it is NOT getting credited to my account. This is very frustrating to have this happen time and time again. I called and talked to a manager, Amanda, and was told there was nothing that could be done. She told me to call the Post Office and check with them. OF COURSE, the Post Office is going to know exactly where my piece of mail is! She claims it is not their fault that the payment is not getting to the right place so there will be fees. I told her it is not my fault either as I sent the check out on the 2nd of Feb. and it was not due until the 12th. of Feb but that doesn't matter. I am still be punished because they did not receive the check or have lost it somewhere in their office. I closed my account with them today because of all of this frustration and will never do business with Rooms To Go again as long as they have Citifinancial accepting their loans.
Its not just checks that they are delaying. I have automatic payments scheduled through my bank on the 1st of the month. My account isnt due tillthe 6th. They claim they arent getting the payments despite my bank clearing the payment on the 1st. This is a sleazy corporation and I pray they go bankrupt.
Patricia,
What you are referring to--CitiFinancial holding your payments and claiming that you are late and then hitting you with default interest rates and late fees is not new in the Credit Industry.
We are in a Depression and the Credit Industry is pulling every move they can to get as much money out of the average credit consumer as they can--regardless of the means--legal or illegal.
Providian of San Francisco was prosecuted and found guilty of holding consumer credit card payments for 2-3 weeks in order to enure that there was a late fee and a HUGE default interest rate fee hike to their customers. I unfortunately was affected by the scandel as I lived in SF at the time and had a Providian card as well.
You are being defrauded by CitiBank/CitiFinancial--I would call an attorney.
Peace,
Hobo
Scam and fraud!
I purchased a vehicle with a Citifinancial Auto loan. After owning the used vehicle for over five years only $11,000.00 has been applied to the principle. Purchase price $30,000... In 2008, I owe $21,000.00. Never mind the fact that I was affected by Hurricane Katrina.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
well how do I contact somebody for help this company is a straight scam!
I understand you sign a contract. Yet they tack on fees for unnecessary hardships. Why will you turn hardships into money? That is sad, so they will offset a payment of $420 for 1 month. Well my contract is up after 6 years if I want to keep my car I have to now pay $5, 298 for late fee and interest. I figured I payed $31, 000 for a $15, 000 vehicle at %15 interest. How is this to economically help you? With the downfall of the economy they will stick to their guns and scam you for all you are worth. What is worse, there is nothing you can do.
Yes they did it to me as well...It's a scam...they make a mistake and push it on the people to have to clear it up. Hopeing you won't
This is a company that has no problem making a customer literally pay money for their mistakes. I had been told they were charging me additionally because somehow they were informed I had had a lapse in my insurance coverage. I knew this to be false. I arranged for proof of continuous coverage to be provided by the insurance carrier. No problem. CFA accepted the proof. Then, because I refused to pay the erroneous extra charges and continued to send in only my regular payment, my account went into arrears and, yes, they took the car. Under no circumstances could I get my car unless I paid the repo fee, storage fees. Do yourself a favor and buy a horse. These people are absolutely miserable to deal with. Off to court we go. It's time for a class action suit, ...looks like.
Honestly, everything that had taken place, you had agreed to when signing the contract!
Suspicious fraudulent practice
I purchased a set of furniture fro the Furniture Outlet Store at Medford, MN on July 16, 2006. The Store provided me with a promotional plan by Citifinancial Retail Services which would allow me a period of 18 months to pay without interests until Jan. 16, 2008. I paid in full with a personal check in the amount of $2,264.19 dated Jan. 8 2008 and sent it out the same day along with a few other payments to other businesses. I used their provided payment coupon and sent to their Ohio P.O. Box Coulumbus. Citifinancial was the only one who claimed that my check did not reach them in time and sent me a bill dated Feb 5, 2008 for back-interests of $784.18 plus a periodic charge of $7.11. The bill reached me on Feb. 11, 2008. I called their inqury office in Tempe, AZ. I talked with diffferent people and finally got the person named Ria (who claimed to be the manager of Accounts, Custormer Services of Citifinancial Retail, but refused to give me his last name). I asked him to sent back my cancelled check. He said that the check was electronically cashed and was immediately destroyed afterward. He also suggested me to contact the postal office to find out when my was delivered to their Ohio P.O. Box. I finally obtained a copy from my own banker who made a few phone calls and was able to get me a photo image of my cancelled check within 24 hours. On the photo image of my cancelled check, we found, indeed the check was dated Jan. 8, 2008, and it was picked up by box lot and bundled with other checks and cahed it on Jan 23, 2008.
I believe they were holding my check until the deadline was past.
My wife and I are both in our seventies and are retired professionals. At our age we can hardly handle this kind of harassment and fraudulence. I would appciate very much if you can render hand to us in solving this problem. Thank you very much.
Be very aware I took Citifinancial up on there skip a payment program thinking I could use that money to get some early Christmas gifts and they ended up screwing me out of a lot of money. When you do their skip a payment program they re right your whole contract and it took me back to ground zero like I havn't paid them a thing and I have been paying for a year. BE AWARE OF THE SKIP A PAYMENT PROGRAM. THIS COMPANY TAKES YOU FOR EVERY CENT YOU GOT. STAY AWAY FROM THEM AT ALL COSTS THIS COMPANY WILL ONLY HURT YOU THEN HELP YOU AND STEP ON EVERY LITTLE GUY THEY CAN.
we have some of the same issues with Citifinancial retail services. They call constantly, day and night. Has anyone ever resolved their issues with citi in a positive way. What did you do. I feel so helpless right now. Although we made our final payment in advance of the due date, i believe they held the payment and now we can't prove exactly when they received it because it is their word against ours They want almost $1000 of back interest when we paid on time! What can I do now. They call 4 times a day!
I'm glad to hear others are having problems, as I have too. I call company because I had got more furniture added to my account. When I purchase furniture I was told there would be no changes to my payment just a longer period before paying no interest. BULL! . My payment went up 104.00 more . Of course in the begining I paid the regular payment until I was hit with late fees. Yes the credit industries is trying to scam you more now than ever and I say also "PROTECT YOURSELF!"
You're the idiot if you had the money and not making regular monthly payments. After using your purchase for a year and a half you post a check one week before due date!?! What an idiot. At least post 45 days in advance so you still have time to settle any delta on the final bill. You must be either young or stupid or both.
Mr. Chou,
I am having lots of problems with Citifinancial Retail Services right now. I sent them and check in the mail 2 weeks before my due date for $150.00 dollars & when they processed my check they did it electronically and entered it for only $50.00. My monthly payments is $67.00. So now they added multiple late fees on to my account and are harrassing me @ my work place, my cell phone, and even calling my mother whom I do not reside with. Did you ever get your issue resolved and if so, how long did it take to get things resolved? They call me at the least 4 times a day. I have spoken with a supervisor by the name of Romeo on two occasions and he keeps stating he will get them to stop calling me, credit my account, and get things corrected. None of things have happened as of yet. This has been going on for right at two months now.

Mr. Chou,

We are in a Depression and the Credit Industry is pulling every move they can to get as much money out of the average credit consumer as they can--regardless of the means--legal or illegal.
"Providian of San Francisco" was prosecuted and found guilty of holding consumer credit card payments for 2-3 weeks in order to enure that there was a late fee and a HUGE default interest rate fee hike stuck to to all of their customers during 1999. I unfortunately was affected by the scandel as I lived in SF at the time and had a SF Providian card as well.
You are being defrauded by Citi "Trust" Bank, fsb., /CitiFinancial Services and their other subsidiaries--I highly advise that you call an attorney.

i had recived a call from your recover agencies i dont know. who is this but telecaller number is [protected] and when i picked my phone and she told me that you are darshan kaur and i said no and she statring abusing and very augly language and she told you cheater and lawyer, you cheated bank. so decided to launch police complaint on her with this number and also make complaint on citi financial
My advice to all parties involved is to pay electronically through your banks. When you send something in the mail, you don't really have any recourse, because it's your word against theirs. In addition it is sad to say but credit card companies love people to pay late, and trust me when they make predictions about their business, rest assured that late payment/failed payments are factored into their bottom line. Is is right? Hmmmmm lots of things are not right, and it is our responsibility to protect us, otherwise the above things happen. To play devils advocate lets say a payment got lost in the mail, or got lost internally and was not posted on time and as a result you have to pay interest. If this would work then every time someone wanted to pay late they would just simply blame it on the post office and that would be that.
At the end of the day they (credit card companies) are nothing more than a bunch of blood sucking crooks. The lesson here PROTECT yourself !
Ha, I had the same problem with Citifinancial Retail. I made a payment by phone just before the due date. I told the rep on the phone that I wanted to pay off the amount in full. the next month lo and behold I get a bill for $80 in back interest. I called in and the lady apologized to me and said she would credit my account. Then another month goes by and it is $80 + $25 in late charges. This cycle continued untill now I owe almost as much as I paid for my furniture. I refuse to pay it! Is there any justice in the world? I reported them to the Better Business Bureau, but ow they just use my number to send me harrassing phone calls. These people are corrupt and unethical and they are gaming the system and taking advantage of the average joe. Next I am going after Ashley Home Furniture for doing business with these crooks!
I have had similar incidents with CitiFinancial. I have mailed my payments to them in their self addressed envelope and the past three months they have not received my payment twice. So of course, they put on late fees and also add an extra payment of $2.00 to the account because it was not paid on time. I mailed this payment out 10 days in advance. I really think they have a scam going on where they do not post your account and then they can add late fees. I closed my account with them because of this and will never do business with Rooms To Go as long as they use the services of Citifinancial. I am glad to see that I am not alone with this problem.
Scam and cheating!
Here is a copy of a letter that I have sent to their "executive response" email about a problem that I have with Citifinancial Auto and copied to their customer service email:
1. You need to do something with your procedures when someone calls in. To be totally ignored and treated as a liar and a thief is unacceptable. On January 27th a man by the name of Frank from telephone number [protected] called me. He asked me if I was going to make my car payment for January (2008). I told him that I had received a letter in the mail back in December (don't remember the exact day that the letter was received) offering “skip a payment” and had taken Citifinancial up on the offer. I received it after I had made the December payment so when I called on December 15th, the “skip a payment” went into effect for January. The person I spoke with on December 15th (whose name I did not get) said that it was processed and that the next payment would now be due in February. He was very congenial and nice. I wish now that I had gotten his name. It never occurred to me that a company could so mess up a simple concept as this or that one department wouldn’t have a clue as to what another department was doing in the same company! I told this gentleman who handled the ‘skip a payment’ that this was great and well-timed because I could use that payment to put tires on the car, which I did at Wal-mart:
Transaction Details
Description: WAL Wal-Mart S 12/15,ABILENE TX
Posting Date: 12/17/2007
Amount: $340.78
Type: Check Card
On January 27th, Frank was rude to me, treated me like a liar, insinuating that no such letter existed and again wanted to know when I would be making my payment. His tone of voice was insulting as well as his words. He asked with a sarcastic tone, “Well, what was it? Did you have medical expenses that caused you to ask for the skip a pay?” I told him NO, that the offer was made to me with no strings attached and that I had not initiated it at all. He acted as if I had just lied to him. He gave me a number to call, (customer service?) [protected]. I tried immediately to call but evidently that office is closed on Sundays. I called on Monday, the 28th and spoke with Janet who transferred me to Natasha who transferred me to Christie. Each time I had to explain why I was calling. While on the line with Christie, we lost the connection so I called back and spoke with Brittany. I again explained the situation. Brittany was very polite and said that she would send an email to “skip a pay” to Charlie. Brittany told me that Charlie would research this and get back to me within 2 business days. I waited but never received a call. On February 1st I called [protected] and spoke with Dixie who immediately asked for my account number or ssn. I gave her my ssn and she immediately transferred me to the department that started this whole mess – who of course we know now would only transfer me back to the customer service department. I hung up and immediately called back. I again got Dixie who said that it is company policy to transfer the call and she again transferred without any discussion. I hung up and I called back again. I tried asking for Brittany but Dixie said that she couldn’t transfer me to Brittany without a last name. Well, of course, we all know that your people don’t give out last names so once again, the customer is screwed. I refused to give my number and asked for a supervisor. Dixie argued with me but I insisted and was transferred to the “supervisor.” Naturally, you know what happened. Uh-huh, I get the managers station and NO ONE answers but I get the voice mail. I leave a detailed message for someone to get back with me and left my cell phone number. NO ONE has returned my call; however, your collection department sure can find time to call and harass me. I am at the point now that I am seriously considering buying a tape recorder and recording all conversations between myself and your company. If this is not resolved by the 8th, I will file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and I will turn all data and tapes over to the state for Deceptive Trade violations. I might even put a small ad in our local paper asking if anyone else has had this problem with your company. If one person can't get action maybe a group of people can.
2. This whole mess started because of a letter I received from your company to “skip a payment.” I called on December 15th and first got the automated response system. I decided to get the balance left on the loan at that time too so your system should show that I obtained that information from the automated system. Right after that is when I spoke to one of your representatives about the “skip a payment” letter and told that it was processed and that the next payment would be due in February.
3. I regret the day that I refinanced with your company and left HSBC. Getting a lower interest rate was not worth this hassle.
4. I refuse to make any further payments until this is resolved. I was ready to set the February payment on January 27th to be paid on time through my bank’s Bill Pay system until FRANK from number [protected] called me. At that time, I decided that this had to be straightened out before any more money transfers from me to you.
GET THIS RESOLVED!
I want a WRITTEN response to this email. You can respond via email but if this problem persists I will INSIST that all communications take place by certified mail or, if verbal, only in the presence of a witness on my end or a taped conversation. Once I receive WRITTEN correspondence that this has been resolved, I will initiate the February payment through my bank's Bill Pay system.

As a note to anyone reading this complaint I have filed here on this website: I have never been late on this loan. In fact, this loan before now was helping my credit rating which is what I wanted it to do because I had been through some rough times for about 8 years. This loan had bumped my credit score up quite a bit. My recommendation is to avoid Citifinancial like the plague. If already in an agreement with them, do everything with documentation in mind. Get all names, keep everything in journal, and everything in a file all by itself!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
It gets even worse. I am curently unemployed and fell behind. They are showing up at my front door wanting to settle the matter. I feel very threatened and dont understand how it can be legal.
I had an auto loan with citifinancial. I traded in the vehicle and the loan was payed in full, citifinancial still went ahead and drafted the $600 payment out of my bank. Now the rude customer service people are telling me it might be 3 weeks till i get my money. This is not acceptable, actually you stole this money from my bank account. When i did have my loan active if you were payed late you would want penaltys and interest from people in a case like that. Well if i dont get an immediate response i will get an attorney and sue your company for my money plus interest. Just like you would do to people.
You had no legal right to take money from my bank account for a payed in full loan. I, m really f----in pissed.
Contact me! I have had the same problems with Citifinancial Auto! And it gets worse too!
I tried holding out payment until I could get a similar matter resolved & I played the same games with transfering the calls to several people (none of which have a direct dial number or last name etc) and I put everything in writing and mailed and faxed it and you know what it got me? NOTHING! They sent out a guy to reposess my car. They dont care about why your holding your payments or what needs to be corrected on your account. I have FIVE payments that were not credited to my account in 2005 & 2006 and have spent two years trying to provide bank statements to prove the fact and I have still not received the credit. They tell you to send the info, then they take two to four months to review it and their response is that your payment was posted a month late in the following month. So if your missing credit for your March payment, they tell you it was credited in April. So you ask them what happened to your April payment? And they say it must have been credited in May. Get it?
Its gets worse!
I worked for an Employer who promised $10, 000 in cash bonus payments for finishing work on his books early. I am a bookkeeper/controller. I worked for a year on five sets of books to finish my work and he didnt want to pay me all in cash so he paid off my car with CitiFinancial instead and gave me the balance in cash. He had some sort of deal on a new credit card account where he got 5% cash as a rebate on all purchases for the first four months. So he earned about $550.00 for paying my car off. I was also authorized on all his bank and credit card accounts.
Anyway They credited the payment, but didnt send me the pink slip and continued to add interest to my loan. Then five months after they credited the payment, they refunded it to my past employer! Why? They say they cant tell me due to privacy laws. What privacy laws? His or mine? He does not have a loan with them and I am still not entitled to information on my own account?
All I am told is that he could not remember what the payment was for and he called them and they chose to refund the money to them because they could not find an account under his name. He didnt go through his bank because he would have paid back the rebates earned on the payment and because after five months they consider the payment a "done deal". So should have citifinancial but they work on their own set of rules and laws.
Now they want to reposess my car. I paid the thing off. They chose to refund the money, not me. The payment was not unauthorized and I cannot get a hold of my past employer because he no longer lives in the area where I worked for him.
If they would have called me before refunding the payment I could have showed them my employment contract where he promised to pay it off instead of paying me cash. But they didnt call me or notify me until they sent a reposessor out to pick up my car. I paid on this car for four years. It would have been paid off this December, 2008 if I paid it on time. I chose to pay it off a year early instead and had him send the payment in 12/2007.
So now my credit has a charge off on it and I cant refinance the car or replace the payment they refunded and they added $2, 000 in additional interest to the loan raising the pay off too.
I have a NICE mustang that I am going to loose over this just so they can sell it at auction and make a buck off of me.
OH! Did I mention that if you are late on your payment (even by one day) they apply your ENTIRE payment to interest and you get NOTHING applied to your principal balance? Its true! In my last year of payments, with nine left to go at $253.00 each, how much do you figure I should owe? Less then $3, 000.? WRONG! They claim I owe $5, 300.00 (plus another 2000 in new interest). They added on $2, 500 by applying the majority of my payments to 100% interest and gave me no credit on the princiapl of the loan. They also charged me 5% of the unpaid balance as a late fee on top of that and then another $15.00 to pay the payment immediatley by phone. How can they apply 100% of your payment as a penalty for being a couple of days late? How can they refuse to credit a payment made by automatic bill pay through your checking account when you have the bank statements to prove it was sent to them?
How can they refund a payment that was credited to your account over five months ago? Even a bank wont unauthorize a payment after 2 to 3 months and return your money to you. EVEN IF SOMEONE STOLE IT!
Harassment or deadbeat with disabilities!
Well i had a brain tumor surgery i am single and no one does my bills for me! Well this rep named rick called me and told me to refinance i agreed to all the terms was signed for a lower payment than it was null and void. Well i feel threatened by his voice u better make a payment today! Butt i have a letter they mailed me it is due b4 the 4th of february. So for spite i feel to repro this i can't take this harassment with the condition i am in. Also i have everything on tape!
maybe some one can help me. i am trying to find a number i can call to get my acct straightened out, but every number i have is disconnected. thanks
contact me at terrystots@hotmail.com, appreciate it
i agree citi finacial is the m ost unorganized bunch of lenders i have seen, i recently lost my job to to cutbacks, called weeks in advance of my payment being due, to let them know i couldnt make a payment, to be told they couldnt help me until i was late on my payment an to cal back when that happened, so i did so, then was told i couldnt be helped because i was in default of my agreement for not making a payment on time. then as time went on i just kept gettng further an further behind. i voluntarily told them i would surrender the vehical due to no work. i recieve 4 to 6 calls a day from them trying every avenue an tacktic to get money from me my friends an family, im not sure what part of no work no money they dont wish to understand but its getting aggrivating. still to this day after have spoke to a rep an they have things on their screen of the recent calls i still get numerous calls daily. its to the point i am going to have to change my number for the harrasing calls . i have even gone to the extent of having my lawyer write them a letter an that doesnt seem to phase them . they refuse to come gt the truck an i have no money to give them so im at a loss here, im currently looking for a local institution of citi finacial in florida to drop the truck off an be done with it . anyhow thanx for letting me vent an i feel for all those who have or had similar occurances with this piss poor institution..
i agree with you ! i had the same thing happened to me .but i lost my job and had the reimburseable insurance which they did not honor how does some people stay in business !
Bad business practices!
I've been having trouble with a personal loan through CitiFinancial. I took out the loan for aprox. $8,000 about 2 years ago using my car as collateral. During which time i also took out and extra $900 for some hefty car repairs. I immediately paid back $600 of it because i didn't need all the money after all.
When i took out my loan i asked if over payments could be applied to the principal balance, they said yes. So over time i kept making over payments, granted it was only $10 to $50 each time but i figured it would help out in the long run. Turns out all the over payments i made went to lower my following payment, so it was like i was paying a month or two in advance vs paying down the principal. When i asked about this they denied even the ability for me to pay on the principal leaving me very confused.
Another complaint i have is that i recently was in a car accident and since i have a lien on my car i accepted the fact that my entire insurance claim amount would be released to my lien holder CitiFinancial. Which i'm still not sure if i understand, even though my payments are up to date somehow they own my car? That's what that claim money was after all.. my car in money form.
Anyway, i figured they might let me keep a portion of it for a down payment on a new car but instead of splitting the check they said i would have to refinance my loan which meant applying my claim payment to my existing account and loaning me additional money with interest. That just seems very wrong to me since i was handing them a check made out to both of us and they're going to charge me interest if i wanted to use any part of it.
I've been without a car for at least a week already while things were grinding out with my insurance company, i've been bumming rides to work and borrowing other peoples vehicles because i don't have resources to get another vehicle. I figured since there was such a big payment made to my account i would skip two payments which would help me with car funds. Not even a week after giving them my insurance claim CitiFinancial started calling telling me i am late on my payment. Which for some reason doesn't work like all my other payments. This large sum payment went somewhere where and doesn't count as a payment at all.
I'm just having a really hard time comprehending how they can be so oblivious to my situation. The loan ate my car, without a car i can't go to work, without work i can not pay them back.
Random other complaints i have:
During the course of my business with CitiFinancial they've accidentally added my sisters payments to my account and mine to hers (we both *unfortunately* have account through them). My sister ended up going back and correcting the issue but honestly they gave her a receipt with all my account information on it. I brought this to their attention and they coughed it up to small mistake and pretty much disregarded it.
When i applied for a personal loan through my credit union to pay off CitiFinancial (i'd rather owe money to a credit union) i was told that the way CitiFinancial calculates their interest does me great disfavor because of the way it's reported to the credit bureaus. Instead of showing the regular pay off amount it shows the total amount with interest included, so what should show as say $8000 shows as $14,000. Since the credit union loans by % of personal combined debt it actually appears much higher than it really is. These guys have the weirdest business hours ever, which wouldn't normally bother me but there's only two ways to pay. Send a check or bring your payment in to the branch office.
After all this time and with the insurance claim payment my balance shows as $12,000. Which really has to be my biggest complaint. That and they keep sending me ads that have a lower rate then what i have now. Don't they know i have an account with them already and why can't they just give me that lower rate...
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I had a personal loan through Citifinancial, my automobile was my collateral. I had surgery and was not working. I was one payment behind when I called them to set up some type of repayment plan. I talked to the Branch Manager and everything was supposedly taken care of, or so I thought! 2 days later my car was picked up at 1 am in the morning. The next morning I called Citifinancial and they told me they were sorry about the mix up and that they would have to charge me to get my car back. They have been calling me everyday to set up delivery of my car. I told them to contact my Lawyer !
I have come to find out that CitiFinancial not only does not have a web site to check on an account, but they also do not post the correct amount of a payment made, on the next billing statement that they send a person who has a account with them. There is no communication within the company at all, and when you call the branch office, they either don't know the answer to the questions you ask them, are very rude, or put you on hold and transfer you to five different people where you have to explain the same situation over and over again. I would not recommend this company to anyone!
I also have a loan through Citifinancial. I will NEVER do this again no matter how desperate things are! They call numerous times a day. I used to be in collections at my last job and you are only aloud to leave one message a day. They leave several and I am not even late! I dispise the place and the people in it! It was okay when I had to collect on one of their employees. They never di make any payments but could hound me the day it was do and the day is not even over yet. I am glad to see I am not the only one that does not like or agree with their practices on loans and payments. I will not make payments over the amount since I know unless you pay it off it does not matter what you do to help yourself out! I think they should be closed down...personally! So many people out of work that made an honest living and here they are sitting pretty...so they think!

i guess i learned a lesson on this, i wanted to buy the truck, payments at 200.70 a month, i did not read, i just sigbed, so it is my own fault, i cant even find my contract i looked everywere, i called but cant get any info from them, all they said is i have 18 more payments then 1 last baloon payment.so many of us are blind, we want, and payment sounds good, so we sign, this is my fault and i guess im screwed, maybe if i would get a attorney but that is just more money.i do come and complain, i hope some people read this stuff before they sign and they hopefully walk away instead of signing.and stealth pilot, i do appreciate you trying to help.
i will have to look up my actual apr, i will check into it and get back to you.thanks
they told me my interest is 24%, i pay my insurance seperate, i do want to apologise for some of the things i said, im just fuustrated and angry, i hope you all can forgive me, i will try to control myself from now on, i really could use good advice, so to all i am sorry.
i think citi financial is a heartless blood sucking agency, how the gov lets them do this and get away with it is beyond me, my guess is certian politicians get a kick back to close their eyes, and they dont care, they told me i am at 24% interest.looking at my statement a 200.70 payment breaks down to 111.05 was deducted from the principal and 89.65 was interest.i must not have paid attention in math because i think that is a hair more than 24% interest.maybe they are a cover for a gov agency thats trying to find osama, be a shame if they were his next target.
some one please direct me, need to find the right gov agency's to go after citi-financial, 26 payments on a 5000.00 loan and still owe 4463.17, help, lets all get together and file a class action, if you have problems with citi financial email me, i want all the amunition i can use.thanks
i have a auto loan thru citifinancial, i only borrowed 5000.00, i was late a few times, i hurt my back and could not work, my wife and i sold almost everything we owned to make it.now i get my disability, i have set up auto payments with them, i just got my statement from them and my payment is 200.70 a month, 111.00 went to principal and 89.65went to interest.i have made 26 200.70 payments on a 5000.00 dollar loan and i still owe4463.17.these guys are like jesse james without the pistol, please tell me that somewere there is a government agency that can do something.i am going to try to get some help.if some of you could email me at dolfo52@comcast.net, maybe we can do a class action or something.
Citifinancial auto breaks the law with reposessions
After losing my job, and then my husband walking out on me, things got a little behind. I continued to look for work, but nothing permanent came up except for temp jobs here and there. I don't dispute that the car note was behind (588/mo), but I am upset about Citifinancial not adhering to things that they've told me they would/could do to help me...

In 2002 we refinanced our home through CitiFinancial. In May 2003 we were hit by a tornado and had $39,000 damages. Our basement was flooded. We filed claims with our homeowner's insurance. They began to pay us and we started to have repairs done. One check was for $11,000 made payable to me and my husband (since we paid our insurance premiums direct and not through our mortgage co.) with a notation of CitiFinancial on the side, for us to show the manager and have him sign off that we were having repairs made.
(FEMA had come in and inspected our home and said it was not safe for me to be inside since I have Asthma-due to the amount of water damage in the basement. He said it needed to be repaired ASAP and the wet carpet removed because mold and mildew were getting bad and it could be fatal to me.)**
Citifinancial's manager was rude to me and yelled at me and took the check from my hands (with people all around the office seeing this) and said he was going to deposit the check into Citifinancial accounts. (My husband and I had already signed it since we were on our way to the bank to deposit it so the windows could be ordered and the new carpet could be ordered and we had to pay a deposit to get this work started.)
The manager then called our insurance company and yelled at our agent and demanded that they pay the money to CitiFinancial. She explained to him that 'we were the insured' and had to get the repairs done, and the only reason CitiFinancial was noted on the check was because the repairs were over $5,000 and the law states we have to notify the mortgage company of repairs being done. (After this incident, our homeowner's insurance canceled us and said they would not be able to cover us any more.) Leaving us with $22,000 damages to pay for ourselves.
Citi's manager took the check and deposited it in CitiFinancial's account. He refused to give me a phone number for his Supervisor and told me my mortgage was no longer in his office. (We tried to get an extension of payments for 2 or 3 months due to tornado damage.) He held the money from May 2003 until August 2003. I had to get one of the contractor's to go to CitiFinancial with me to get $5,000 released to order the custom built windows we needed.
We had to try to pay for repairs ourselves. (I was also disabled in June 2003 due to a work related accident.)We used up our savings and sold some furniture to get repairs done.
Then in August 2003 I received a phone call from a girl in CitiFinancial's office telling me that she could lose her job if the manager knew she had called me, but she had to let me know what was 'going on'. She said our mortgage had been there all along and he was lying to us. She was sure he was trying to foreclose on us. We had to file Bankruptcy in Nov. 2003 to stop them.
Then in May 2004, CitiFinancial called us and said they were going to reduce our interest from 14.9% (it was supposed to be 13% but it was changed after we signed the paperwork to 14.9%), to 6% and reduce our monthly payments from $1533 to $854 a month. We waited from May 2004 until July 2004 and still no paperwork. They tried to Foreclose on us again. We had to file Bankruptcy again to stop it. We paid payments through Chapter 13 through July 2005. CitiFinancial called us and said we were 'current on our payments' and they would work with us and we could make payments to them. We let our Bankruptcy be dismissed and tried to pay CitiFinancial again.
We were approved to refinance and CitiFinancial gave us three different payoffs, ranging from $73,000 to $144,000. The man on the phone said he was in their Loss Mitigation department and said 'they would not allow us to refinance with anyone else'. I told him he was not 'God' and could not control us or what we did. He was rude, yelled at me and said 'we just needed to let them have our home and be done with it.' He caused us to not be able to refinance. The lender we were trying to use said he had never seen such a mess, and they could not refinance us unless we could get a legitimate payoff. That was in October and November 2005. They continued to transfer our mortgage again.
All this time since July 2005, they refused to accept our payments stating that 'our mortgage was a mess and they could not accept a payment until it was corrected because the money would sit in a floating account until it was corrected.' I tried to call every office from Coppel, Texas to Levittown, PA to Hanover, MD and was told the same thing.
(One bookkeeper sent me copies of our records and told me to get a lawyer because she had sent through more than 3 directives to correct our mortgage paperwork. Money was posted in 2005 that was paid through our Bankruptcy and then removed and put in their pocket in interest posted prior to our Bankruptcy filed Nov. 2003 and right after the tornado hit in May 2003.) We were current at that time, so there was no interest due. All this time we were still trying to get our home repaired little by little.
In March 2006 we hired a lawyer who contacted them by phone and letters disputing the amounts they were trying to charge us ($10,000 in legal fees) and stating we were in arrears over $25,000. He told them the fees were unreasonable and they had refused to accept payments and the amounts were wrong. A woman in their Loss Mitigation Department said she was going to 'put our mortgage on hold' due to our property dispute with people we had already paid off and CitiFinancial could not Foreclose on us while we were in the property dispute lawsuit. Our lawyer tried to get them to accept $4,000 on our mortgage and she said it would be put on hold.
We did not hear anything else from them after May 2006 and our lawyer considered the matter settled.
Then in April 2007 they tried to Foreclose again and tried to say we were in arrears $41,000. We had to file Bankruptcy again to stop it. They did not even bother to send a lawyer or attend the Meeting of Creditors to discuss working out our mortgage. They did not contact our lawyer. We had to let Bankruptcy dismiss and now again are trying to get this worked out.
I talked with THEIR attorney this week and he said He will try to get us a legitimate payoff. He said they are preparing to try to Foreclose on us again.
******BY THE WAY, WE STILL HAVE DAMAGES FROM THE TORNADO IN 2003 TO OUR ROOF WHICH NOW IS LEAKING INTO THE INSIDE CAUSING MORE DAMAGE WHICH WILL COST $15,000 AND THE DECK $13,000, $1,000 CONCRETE WORK (WHICH IS $29,000 MORE DAMAGE ADDED TO THE $22,000 WE GOT STUCK WITH IN 2003, this is a total now of $51,000 damages for us to pay.)
We can't refinance due to the property dispute, or without a 'legitimate payoff quote'. With all the damages we had, it's taken all we had to get repairs done. CitiFinancial will not take responsibility for their actions or their employees actions. Someone in authority needs to.
I will not give up my home, and my husband and I will fight with everything we have to see Justice done. CitiFinancial and Citi Group were sued by the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in May 2004 or 2005 for Predatory Lending and CitiFinancial had to pay millions. I believe they need to be sued again and fined hundreds of millions.
We all need to stick together and contact the Federal Reserve Board and the State Comptroller's office of each individual State involved. I have already talked with a lawyer and I am going to bring it to his attention about a Class Action Lawsuit.
CitiFinancial has to be stopped. They have hurt thousands and thousands of people, taken homes they had no right to, caused people to be suicidal and destroyed families. They are greedy, hateful, and rude and obviously 'train their employees' to be the same.
(I spoke with a woman in their Coppel, Tx office two days ago, and she did not know anything about our mortgage, yet had sent a letter to us to 'Reinstatement, Adjustment of Terms, Adjustment of Loan, etc.,etc. I'm sure you all have gotten their form letter sent through the mail.) She then proceeded to tell me I needed to talk with their Legal Department, but could not give me a number to call them. She then gave me the name of the same lawyer I have talked to for the past 2 years. In unity we can prevail. We cannot be 'faint of heart', and have to persevere. We have to be diligent and fight for our homes and our families.
I am willing to talk with anyone who wants to get involved with this, and I have access to the best attorneys in the USA.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
This isn't really a complaint yet... we purchased a couch and loveseat at a local furniture store. it was a "don't pay for 3 months" deal with no interest bla bla bla. We knew we had to pay by feb. 12th 2008 to avoid interest charges. I went to citifinancial today (feb. 5th 2008) to pay the balance in full. They brought up the account and said there was no balance. I asked for a printout and they gave me a sheet showing our account at a zero balance. They told me to look at it like a "late christmas gift".
I took out a personal loan for $2000 in mid-2009 after being put on medical leave from work. Well, my medical leave ended up lasting over a year and as a result I had to file bankruptcy. Not only did CitiFinancial continue to call me many times a day at my cell and at work (even before I returned) after my filing, but they continued after I supplied them a case number and my attorney's information. They also called my parents several times a day even though I don't remember supplying their information. Two days after my bankruptcy was filed they sent me a lawsuit and a court date to occur after my initial meeting of creditors for my bankruptcy (which they did not show up for). Last week I received a default judgment against me in their favor saying I did not show up for court thinking I was under the automatic stay protection of bankruptcy. Now yesterday I received a notice to garnish my wages unless I pay in 15 days. They now say I owe them close to $3000 + 25% interest and their attorney's fees. My attorney is going to send them a cease and desist order but I am skeptical it will work.
When I took out the loan I also took out the health insurance on it but you can see how that worked out. To claim the insurance I had to do all of the leg work and paperwork, which was more than the loan application and would have taken days. Hard to do when you are bedridden.
Whenever I tried talking to them to discuss my situation they would become belligerent and belittling unless I could make a huge payment of 400-500 dollars to include "catch up" payments and fees - after I had just made a "catch up" payment. I also witnessed the manager rudely argue with another client over the phone when I was in the office trying to work out a resolution as they would send me letters saying I had options, even though the options were unrealistic once you showed up in the office. It was just a way to get you in there so they could badger you in person. They even had the nerve to ask me to borrow from friends or family to pay them back. I said if I could have done that I wouldn't have needed a loan in the first place. This same manager would leave rude voice mail messages on my cell with statements like "I don't know what your problem is" or "I can't believe you're treating us this way."
The third time I received a letter from their office after I filed bankruptcy I called and gave my case number, the initial meeting of the creditors date and location, and my attorney's information and asked them to please stop sending me letters and threats as I was protected by the automatic stay. I even gave them the reference as stated on my court paperwork with the legal numbers. I was simply told their lawyers would handle things from then on. I'm guessing they did not even notify their attorneys of my bankruptcy as required by law.
What's really ironic in all this is my student loan carriers cannot take payments until my bankruptcy is discharged and those are exempt.
This is putting my job at serious risk and my emotional stability is hanging in the balance.
I AGREE WITH EVERY ONE THATS ON THIS PAGE THAT HAS A COMPLAINT ABOUT CITIFINACIAL THEY WILL LIE TO YOU JUST TO GET YOU OFF THE PHONE WHEN YOU ARE LATE WITH A PAYMENT OR WHEN YOU ARE IN BANKRUPCY. BUT WHAT YOU DONT NO IS YOUR AGENT YOU SIGHN YOUR CONTRACT WITH WAS A CON MAN . WHAT THEY TELL YOU AT THE START WERE HERE TO HELP YOU, BUT BEHIDE CLOSE DOORS THERE SAY I JUST GOT THAT FOOL TO SIGHN A PAPER THAT IF HE'S LATE ON A PAYMENT HE WILL BE CHARGED A LATE FEE OF $50 PLUS A DOLLAR FOR EVERY DAY ITS NOT IN THERE OFFICE. LOOK AT YOU GUYS CONTRACT YOU WILL FIND ITS TRUE . I FOUND IT IN SMALL PRINT YEARS LATER IN MINE. I REGRET I EVER PICK UP MY PHONE EVER DAY. MY LOAN WAS FOR $80, 000 IN 2005 AND IN 2011 ITS $79, 875 AT $712 A MONTH YOU DO THE MATH
I took a loan out with Citi 9 years ago for 2000 dollars ( I was a dumb, broke single guy about to lose his car). I had a lot of financial problems after that and ended up not being able to pay for it. They got an attorney involved and froze mine and my wife's checking account (whom I was not married to at the time of the loan). I finally settled over the phone for 2000 dollars (they said I owed 5037 dollars yet) in August of 2008. I just got a letter in the mail yesterday (November 22nd, 2010) stating that I was having 25% of my wages garnished for the remaining 3000 dollars. I have not heard a thing from them for almost 2 1/2 years and now I am having my wages garnished? WHAT DO I DO?
I have a loan through Citifinancial. They have repeatedly charged us hundreds of dollars in fees when our payment was late, not the $20 fee for late payment. They sent our loan to their office in Greensburg PA for forclosure. After calling the office and getting the payment amount to get our account current I paid that amount in full to get caught up. Again this month they want an additional $153. Not sure why because our payment isn't even late. I'm so discouraged and don't know what to do.
Let's come together and stop them. It is sad to see them take advantage of the average person who works so hard to get by. I don't have a mortgage complaint but I have a personal loan complaint that was paid off 2 years ago by the real estate attorney and they still refused to cancel the judgment they placed. The amount of conflicting information and rude behavior from this company is unprecedented. I have never experienced anything like this. So I wrote a letter to the citifinancial CEO, Mary McDowell, citi holdings chairman, Gary Crittenden, CEO Citigroup, Vikram Pandit, citifinancial legal, citibank legal, BBB, FTC, all the credit bureaus -- transunion, equifax, experian, and I just added the FRB and State Comptroller's office after reading your e-mail. I did some research today and it is not just in the US. In India, associates visit customers houses rudely collecting money. This is madness and I am in agreement to join in a class action lawsuit. They have to be stopped from behaving this way and only when it hits them in the pocketbook would they, hopefully, realize what they have done.
What can we do to stop Citifinancial from bullying consumers? They make threats and harass thinking one will give in, but they are wrong and I can prove it! They placed a ficticious mortgage on my rental property and refuse to correct their mistake, so now they are saying that I missed a payment 3 years ago that I didn't, and I have the receipts to prove that as well. They are rude, vicious, and should not be allowed to continue to treat consumers that way.
I am residing in Toronto Canada and have issues with CitiFinancial and feel their approach is quite rude and abrasive.
I have a 5, 000 loan with them and payments were 200/month they reduced them to 100/month as our financial situation is not very strong, they even have the nerve to send people to our doorstep to collect checks from us if we cannot make it in on the day requested...they even have said "Well we know were you live and will drop by to pick it up" I felt that we were dealing with a Bookie or something worse with a bad debt.
We are constantly reminded that their legal department is going to get involved...can they force you to sell your house to pay them?
I am all for teaming up on these guys
I got a loan with Citifinancial in early 2006, in September 2007 i went in to pay the balance.
They gave me the balance amount and i cut them a cheque for the amount and assumed things were done with them.
Then in January 2009, i get contacted by one of their agents (So ya over a year and 5 months later) and they inform me that i have a balance of $1000+ oweing on my account and when i was gonna come in and pay it. I asked them what the hell they were talking about... and basically it seems that the Branch computer and the main citifinancial computer are not directly tied together and so a interest amount of $197 had been applied to my account during the time they gave me the balance and i paid it and when the two computers talked to each other there was a $197 difference... SO $197 was outstanding on my account and 17 months of additional interest has now kicked the amount owing to $1000+... BUT of course they didn't bother telling me of this out standing balance.. or the fact that technically i missed 17 payments... cause according to them, all my "payments" were up to date to this point (when the bill cracked $1000 again it suddenly wasnt up to date). To MY knowledge the account was closed.
SO now they are attempting to get $1000 out of me and more than likely im gonna end up going to court over the matter.
I agree.- Citifinancial Mortgage is the worst.- I have asked for a pay-off and a payment history and it is really all screwed up. I am in bankruptcy, but I am paying citifinancial $13, 000 to get discharged from bankruptcy and surrendering my vehicle. Citifinancial has added charges, hidden fees, etc., which you don't imagine. They said I owe them $27, 000 - this includes $13, 000 in bankruptcy and $14, 000 of i dont' know what. Yes, I agree Citifinancial needs to get sued and we need to get an accounting of our payments, - Saludos!

Never, never take a loan with Citifinancial. I have tried to make payments on their automated system - they give a confirmation no. and accept and then in a week or so I get a call saying I am now delinquent. They are rude, unprofessional and insulting. Trying to take care of my financial obligation I have been insulted, put on hold for in excess of 2 hours - I just wanted to see how long it would go-, and hung up on. I have tried to make payments that have been refused and when I asked about the law regarding this was told they did not care. My credit has been damaged due in large part to THEIR mistakes. Stay away from this company. They are nothing but BAD NEWS to anyone - even honest bill paying customers. Save yourself the trouble of dealing with them!
This company is assisting Alqueada to cripple the American public right under our government's nose.
They will even show up at your door to collect their money
Non refund of last emi as per scheme
I had bought one 42 inch plasma TV last Sept '06 and got it financed through Citi Financial, Jamshedpu, India. During the purchase there was a scheme that they will refund last EMI on completion of loan. The last cheque was dated 5th Sept '07 amount Rs. 5278 and subsequently got deducted from my bank account. Thereafter I had visited citifianacial many times to enquire about the refund but invain they could not deliver any positive feedbak. My problem is that I will be leaving country for official work for a year by end of Oct'07. I have been chasing citi financial from 7th Sept'07 onwards but no one is ready to address my grievience. I have all the documented evidence about the purchase and signed evidence by their representative about the scheme.
Pls. help me ASAP.
Regards.

Overdue payment
I fell a month behind on my car payment, because of financial hardship. Citifinancial contacted me because of the lateness. I informed them that the check had been sent in the mail. They were not satisfied with that and I was told that I was lying to them. I was told by the manager (his name was Daniel) that if I didn't give him a payment over the phone that they would come and repo the car. I asked him, the car is only 1 month late and the payment is on the way to you. He said, "don't tell me about your problems, I'm not interested in them." With that, I then canceled the check that I sent out and FEDEX a new check to them. Call Daniel and gave him the FEDEX tracking # and the check # with the amount. He told me that was not good enough and I can be sending him a blank check! He was very rude and ignorant. I have never in my life dealt with such a horrible company! I waited to the FEXEX to be delivered the next day and contacted Daniel. He told me, yes the check was there, but as far as he was concerned he didn't have it because it was not posted to the system and he still was going to take the car! He told me to make a payment over the phone and that would stop the repo! I asked him, how can you repo a car when its only a month late and you have the payment in your office? He told me that he didn't have time for me and that he was done talking to me!
Real nice business Citifinancial! I'm getting ready to trade the car in and never deal with them with anything ever again! They are horrible!
Yeah Citi Finicial auto sucks ! I have had a loan with them for about 3 years own a car That was 17, 000 and by the time i pay it off it will be like 35, 000 which is ridiculioues ! I can never get ahold of anyone i have to answer 10 questions Just to get them to take a payment from me, I lost my job a few months back and been struggleing to keep the payments of 400 a month Up and i keep asking to refinince it or something so i can have lower payments and they wont work with me at all what can i do Im about to loose my car if they can even find it this company is the biggiest unorganized crap of a company i have ever delt with !
Citifinancial auto is the worst (right up there with Fireside Thrift )! The customer service is horrible. I can't understand how a big company like they are can charge you (through Western Union) to make a payment over the phone! Even though you set up payment arraingments they still call you 10 times a day to make you pay over the phone! Even smaller companies like Wachovia do not charge you to pay online (which for citifinancial is through Western Union again) or by phone. I will be filing a complaint to the BBB.
I with you they harass us about our car loan even after we got it caught up, they are terrible. I have already contacted an attorney and my husband and I are going after them big time.
Well be careful with your trade-in. I just traded my car in and the dealer contacted Citifinancial to get the pay-off information. The dealer cut the check and mailed it to Citifinancial and they have been calling me everyday at home and at work telling me that we are still on the hook for the loan amount. I told the representative that what they were doing was illegal and to never call me again. I explained SEVERAL times that I no longer own the loan or the car and I was told that they would continue to harass me until they received payment. They had the payment for over 2 weeks now and the check has been cashed by them. At one point they called my house 22 times in one day. I plan to contact the Federal Trade Commission and the US Attorney General's office. Hopefully you are not having that experience. We all need to file a class action lawsuit against these idiots.
Citifinancial jeopardizing my reputation
CitiFinancial Retail Services
www.citifinancialretailservices.com
On 6/2/07 I set up automatic payment to Citifinancial through 5/3 bank's bill pay service. Prior due dates had been the 6th of the month so I set up scheduled payments to be sent 72 hours prior, the 3rd of each month. Unfortunately 8/3/07 was on a Saturday and 9/3/07 was Labor Day. Hence the payments weren't processed until 8/7 and 9/7 respectively. Therefore I was charged two months late fees inn addition to finance charges on the account. The customer service rep instructed me to fax a complaint, which I did, and the decision was upheld. When I called back, they (broken English speaking gentleman named Romeo) refused to give me the name/address of someone I should contact for additional dispute stating the decision was final. I have excellent credit and they're jeopardizing my reputation. I see here there are several additional issues similar to mine. This is obviously this is a repeated circumstance someone of higher management needs to recognize.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Miscellaneous 07/26/2010 $264.22 $0.00 $0.00 $0.00 $8, 103.71
Payment 07/26/2010 $264.22 $264.22 $0.00 $0.00 $7, 839.49
The Payment there is a payment I made.
WHAT the HELL is the miscellaneous?
and it JUST so happens to be the EXACT amount I paid?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Um... that's not right, considering that "Misc." charge happened to be the exact amount I paid... and that it ADDED to my total debt.
Something is not effin right here.
Just so most people know, CitiFinacial operates under the guise that its call centers are located in Canada or the USA - they acctually tell people this, hoping you won't know the truth. The truth is that their call centers are located in India. In some cases they do not have up to date information about your account and provide false and misleading information. None are empowered to help you. Moreover, like so many other people who have posted here, I can attest that they lied to me as well on numerous occasions. Bottom line. Avoid doing business with Citi Bank and Financial. (see my letter and post)
In India, if your account goes to collections, or you become delinquent, they hire thugs to track down their debtors and kill them if they do not pay up. This is fact and you can find this information on google. How about organized crime operating in high places. Now you are becoming aware of what Citi truly is, an organized crime center that is operating for proft at any cost:
To whom it may concern,
On February 11, 2010, I received my statement for the account in question, listed above. The interest rate had climbed from 22.9% to 27.9%. This is a 5 percent change in the rate – close to the default rate. My account has been closed since May 14, 2008.
Earlier, I attempted to opt out of the program with the voice activated system and it stated that it could not apply the changes to my account. At this point, I contacted customer service. They told me that all customer accounts had been re-priced and that I was one of them and that I should feel better since I was not singled out. I pointed informed your representative that the account had been closed since May 14, 2008. He told me that was not true and it was still open, thus since the account was open and that I had not opted out, the new interest rate prevailed. I informed your representative that I had copies of my credit report and letter from Citi Financial stating otherwise. He told me that I was incorrect and was trying to circumvent the system and to prove it. I requested things be elevated to his supervisor and requested the account be closed.
Next, a female supervisor claimed that I just closed the account and that I had never opted out of the repricing of the market recently, or in the past and their customer service representative had closed the account on February 11, 2010, at 9:30 in the morning PST.
I reaffirmed that I had a letter and my credit report to prove the account was indeed closed. She told me to “prove it”. “Our records clearly show your account was just closed and you are trying to bypass the changes. Nothing can be done for you sir”. I told her that she lied to me and that I could disprove that the account had been closed for nearly 2 years. Again, she told me I would have to prove it in writing.
On February 12, 2010, I contacted customer service again, with my letter from Citi Financial, dated May 14, 2008. The letter stated that the account had been closed and no more charges could be made to the account and to destroy the remaining cards. Mr. Phillipe, ID G06, stated again, that the account was closed on February 11, 2010.
Page 2
Finally, I informed your representative of the letter and read him the information contained within. At this time, I read the credit report comments that had been made to my credit report last year and that the account was indeed closed. The account representative said he that he pushed a special button that allowed him to see more information that was hidden earlier and stated he was sorry for accusing me of dishonesty.
Mr. Phillipe, apologized again and requested that I fax copies of my documents to [protected]. He told me that some times errors to accounts are made and that a full review of my case was necessary, but they were unable to help me.
Right now, I am frustrated with my past and more recent experience with Citi Finacial lying to me and also, for being dishonest. Moreover, the account representatives made accusations about me that were fabricated and untrue. I feel that your representatives are playing games with me! Magically pushing buttons to get additional account history?
Moreover, your representative could not explain why the account was repriced since the account has been previously closed account. I had previously opted out of all changes being made to the account and had closed it much earlier with the exception of default. I have faithfully paid on this account. The current rate is close to the default rate.
I then requested to be transferred back to my previous interest rate and he said that was not possible, but that I should send my complaints to the fax number and, copies of the letter and credit report stating otherwise.
I have discussed my recent experiences with Citi Finacial to others in my office. They have expressed similar, but different stories. I am now forced to seek help from Government entities.
I therefore respectfully, request again, that my previous interest rate of 22.9% be reapplied to my account. I requested this recently and nearly 2 years ago, by opting out of the changes that were to be made to my account and trying to opt out again – on a closed account.
Respectfully,
BEWARE CITIFINANCIAL FINANCING FOR HAVERTYS PURCHASE OR OTHERWISE, THEY ARE ALSO CLAIMING MY MONEY ORDERS WERE NEVER RECEIVED EVEN THOUGH WESTERN UNION CAN PROVE THEY WERE ALL CASHED THE SAME DAY! LIARS! I AM SUING FOR THE COST OF AN ATTORNEY TO GET MY WESTERN UNION COPIES COSTS BACK! STAY AWAY FROM ************CITIFINANCIALi****************! ###!
I have one for ya - I called to offer a settlement on a delinquent account. They insist on doing a credit check, needed to know my income and expenses AND if the deal is accepted, I'll get a 1099 for the difference between what I owe and what they accept! I'd have to pay taxes on it... what a bunch of f**king bozos...
THESE PEOPLE ARE NUTS! They don't quit calling - It is August 21, and I AM PAID THROUGH OCTOBER! I've verified this and they gave me the info that their computers do not update until 9:00 - NOT MY PROBLEM - MY ACCOUNT IS UP TO DATE! These people are ridiculous - it is CitiFinancial financed through Ashley Furniture. I have made 9 FULL PAYMENTS IN SEVEN MONTHS - and they don't count them unless they land at their office during your new monthly billing cycle. A day to early and you are screwed. . . you will have to pay an additional payment for the next month. I pay my bills when they are arrive or when I sit down and think about it. I'm not on a budget, and I'm not counting pennies - I just make sure my accounts are paid. BOO FOR ME FOR MAKING TWO PAYMENTS IN A MONTH - I knew I was paying ahead and I sent in 40 less than my normal payment - I have no idea why - just an oversight. It cost me 40 to pay the 40 with a late fee - even though I was "paid ahead" or so I thought until today. WTF? When my business is done there will never be another dime given to Citi-ANYTHING!
Well here is a bit of infor for everyone . Citifinancial has reps working out of there homes .YES all your info is up on the screen for anyone who happens to be in the employees home . These reps are NOT supervised and some are just barely out of high school.
Im sure mistakes are made as these employees are trying to conduct there home life for example : watching there kids so the wife can go to work and they dont have to pay a babysitter, doing there own financial business or having personal conversations with friends or family members about your account once they get off the phone with you . Or playing internet games while conducting business with you on the phone .
I would ask if this person is at an actual call center before giving out any information..!
I don't use autopay as I like to know exactly what and when anything comes out of our account. But For several years I have been mailing in monthly payments. I usually receive my statement several weeks before the due date and pay it on the next payday following receipt. I did not receive a statement for 5/09 and therefore did not mail in a payment. While I admit I should have noticed, I did not. The next thing I received from Citifinancial was a statement saying my minimum payment had been raised, a $39 late fee assessed, and $2 interest on the late fee had been added to my account. I called the number on the statement, explained what had happened and was told that in view of our long standing and on time payments, the $39 and $2 interest would be waived. I then made the required payment over the phone and assumed all was well. But...when the next statement came, the $39 + $2 was still on the account AND an additional $39 + $2 had been added, as well as my minimum payment again being increased. It took several calls to some very rude persons at first, but I later discovered the rude parties were in collections. I contacted customer service and spoke with a very patient young man, who, after hearing all I had to say, suggested I speak with a supervisor as he did not have the authority to correct the problem. I eventually got through to the supervisor, explained what had happened and she assured me all would be taken care of, but to call her back at her direct number in a week to check on it. When I called back I got her voice mail and left my name, account number and phone number. She did call me back and the problem had been resolved. My original plan had been reinstated, both $41 fees removed and my minimum payment restored. So if you are patient and keep after them until you get someone with authority to correct the problem, you CAN get it done. This process took almost two months, but in the end was worth it. If you call customer service at [protected], I would recommend you ask for Jason as he is the young man that actually helped me and got me to a supervisor with authority. Bill in Florida
Similar story here. Bought a piano, 90-day same as cash. Paid it off well before the deadline and assumed the account was closed. Months later I start getting calls about a $300 balance--my payment was supposedly two days late and they had assessed finance charges, late fees, and daily interest. They now call me every day, at work, at 3:00 a.m. in the morning, sometimes multiple times a day.
Read up on your rights--there's the FCBA, FCRA, and FDCPA. If they contact you at your workplace, or more than once a day, they are in violation. They also can't contact you while a debt is under investigation, something they are required to begin a few days after receiving a letter from you (certified). Inform them that if they are in any way noncompliant with federal law, you will immediately file notice with the BBB, state attorney general, and online reporting agencies. A call from the attorney general usually clears things up immediately.
I am in the same boat. Lesson learned: NEVER AGAIN buy anything through CitiFinancial Retail Services. We started making our payments on time. One payment we missed the due date by one day and they charged us $39.00. We did not realized this before making our next payment and so they charged us $39.00 for not paying the late fee for the previous statement. A couple of month before this happened we made a $1000.00 payment to capital believing it would put as ahead in our payments. WRONG! and because we had $41.00 due they started calling on a daily basis. We told them we would make the payment the next due date and they said they WILL CONTINUE TO CALL ON A DAILY BASIS until we paid the amount due (at this point $41.00). Being treated as delinquents is ridiculous and when we tried to place a complaint no one would give us a US number or address where we could do this, they would always lead us to a phone number abroad. My advice, find other means of financing, CITIFINANCIAL will always find a way to get more money out of you.
i WILL NEVER AS LONG AS I LIVE BUY ANYTHING THROUGH CITIFININCIAL AGAIN.I MADE MY PAYMENT WITH A MONEY ORDER LIKE I ALWAYS HAVE AND THEN THEY CALL ME AND TELL ME THEY HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY PAYMENT.AND THE THING IS I HAVE PROOF, BECAUSE I TRACED THE MONEY ORDER AND IT WAS SIGNED AND CASHED.I CAB GET A COPY OF THIS, WHICH WILL COST ME $15.00 and 3 WEEKS TO GET.SO I AM PAYING OFF BOTH OF MY ACCOUNTS IN FULL AND I PROMISE YOU.THEY BETTER NOT CALL.SEND ME ANY THING TO DO WITH THESE TWO ACCOUNTS, I HAVE NEVER BE TREATED THIS WAY AND I THINK THESE PEOPLE NEEDS TO BE CKECKED INTO I GIRL I TALKED TO HUNG UP ON ME .NEVER AGAIN I WILL ALWAYS GO TO THE BANK OR SOMEWHERE ELSE.
Deceptive business practices!
I purchased a vehicle with financing from a lender who eventually sold my loan to Citifinancial Auto. The original loan was for a 5-year period rather than the typical 3-year period. To keep my finances on track, I use Direct Debit services whenever possible and I made arrangements to have my auto loan paid through Direct Debit. During this time, I moved and provided Citifinancial with my current address, but they continued to send any and all communications to my former address. My forwarding order expired after the first year and I again provided them with my correct address.
In April, I left work and found that my car was not in the parking lot. I called the police and was told that my car had been repossessed. I immediately called Citifinancial to find that "no one could take my call," so I emailed them. Four phone calls and 3 emails later, I still received absolutely no information from Citifinancial Auto.
Finally, the towing company called and asked me to come and get my belongings. Because I was so upset, the employee called Citifinancial Auto (they actually answered her call!) and when I arrived to get my things, she told me that they had repossessed the car due to nonpayment. I received no notice that they had stopped collecting the payments via Direct Debit nor did I give them my permission or agree to that arrangement. No other company with whom I have made Direct Debit arrangements has terminated the arrangement, so I know this is unusual.
I don't think it is a coincidence that all of this happened when I reached the 3-year mark for my loan. Additionally, Citifinancial tried to file a claim for damages through my auto insurance company, saying that the entire front end of the car was destroyed. When I visited the tow yard 3 days after the repossession, the car was completely intact. They still have not filed any paperwork with the DMV to claim ownership of the car and I continue to receive notices from the DMV regarding overdue registration.
So... the $11,000+ that I paid toward owning the vehicle is completely wasted, the repossession is on my credit record, I spent nearly $400 on a rental car, and I had to come up with cash to purchase a used vehicle because I live in an area with next to no public transportation. I believe that Citifinancial Auto deliberately terminated our Direct Debit arrangement without notifying me so that they would not have to honor the nontraditional 5 year loan.
How are they allowed to get away with this and why don't consumers have an option to pursue dishonest businesses without spending thousands of dollars on an attorney? The BBB is great, but there is not a thing they can do if the business refuses to negotiate with them, and in the case of most large corporations, that is exactly what they do. Large businesses know individual consumers can't afford to spend $5,000-20,000 to pursue something like this, so they simply refuse to play ball with the BBB.
Whatever you do, don't do business with Citifinancial Auto!
This is complete BS, I work for a finance company and from each of your stories it sounds to me like you are all a bunch of professional debtors. Dont make your payments and then blame it on the finance company. You had to of had bad credit in the first place to even be with Citi. So how many other companies did you screw over before getting to Citi. You people are the reason I have a job so please continue to not pay your loans so I can contiune to profit off of dead beats like yourselves!
We are in the same situation with CitiFinancial Auto. We made three car payments in February which we were told brought our account current to March. We made a payment in March and were told we still owed for February. So we made another payment in March to cover the supposedly late March payment. Then we made a payment in April and were told that we still owe for March. It's a never ending cycle, they are always keeping us one month behind no matter how many times in a month we pay them. No one ever has any records that we have spoken to anyone and made payment arrangements, even if someone has just talked to us the day before, or that afternoon for goodness sake! They can't speak english, are always rude, calling at all hours, 5-6 times a day. The real unusual thing I find is that when I ask for a number to their cooperate office, no one ever has that information. It makes me wonder if the are actually with CitiFinancial and where all my money has been going.
With the recent layoffs at my husbands work, we can barely make ends meet, now paying two and three car payments a month is getting to be way more than we can handle. I can't afford a lawyer though to get the mess figured out. I wish by some miracle they would get a lawsuit slapped on the comanpy and have to pay everyone back!
You say you had a direct debit in place. Did you not notice when the funds were not being deducted from your bank account? You may not have received or read the monthly loan statement, but I find it difficult to believe you were never aware you had "extra" funds in your bank account each month. You also state they repoed so they wouldn't have to honor the 5-year agreement. It is in their best interest to keep you in the loan and making payments for as long as the contract stipulates. That's how a lender makes their money. If they repo the vehicle, they take an immediate loss and lose the interest income they would have earned for the remaining months left on the contract.
Before you start talking about the "idiots" that work there, please remember that we are not all mindless! I have been there for 2 years on the indirect side, and I, too, can not stand their customer service. I was let go today among hundreds of others, but not everyone that works for the company are as bad as the ones you have dealt with.
Its very interesting how peoples vehicles are getting repoed and the customers are being told that the information was never updated but yet how were they able to find the vehicle if they never had the new addresses, come on I have been dealing with these ###s for a year now and my husband and I are going after them hard core for violations of the fair dept act and harassment, we were about one payment behind and my husband re-enlisted and got a bonus we called and payed the car current then set up direct payments every two weeks so we were a half payment ahead, we are now being called and told we still owe 300 and when we go over every thing with them they say there records match our but that doesnt matter we still owe, they call us 5-6 times a day, they are rude and tell us we never spoke to people, they have called us as early as 6am. They suck and have broken many laws and it is time for us ALL to stand up and make them pay for there mistakes. I done alot of research on them and I have already contacted an attorney so if you want in let me know.
I bought my 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer in May 2005 and the lender was Citi. My husband is in the Army and we set up a direct payment by allotment. This went well until September when me and my husband separated. He agreed that he would leave the car on the allotment as long as I sent him the payment each month. It was in my separation agreement also. Each month I gave my husband the money using Money Orders. In December 05 I moved to Texas. I was still sending him the payment each month. I called Citi to update my address with them and gave them my new number. I told them that me and my husband had separated and that the car was still being paid by allotment and that I was sending him the payments each month. The person said that as long as the payments were made then there should be no problem.
One day in May 06 I got ready to leave for work and my car was gone. I called the police and reported it stolen. I never once thought it could be reported. I got a phone call from the PD about 2 hours later telling me that the car had been picked up by a rep company and gave me the name of the company to contact. I had to wait until Citi opened to call them to find out why they would rep my car when I had never missed a payment.
I got a man who told me that the payments stopped in Jan 06 and that they had no choice but to rep the car. I asked him why I was not notified at the new address or phone. He said that he still had my GA address and that there had been numerous letters sent out. I told him that I had updated my address and phone number in December when I moved. There was nothing that he would do. He said that he would help me. He said that he would let me get my car back if I paid $11,000 that day. He even asked how I was paying! I told him I did not have that much money. He said that if I wanted my car back, then I must pay the loan out. I asked him if I could just pay the amounts that were past due and he said no. I even asked him if I could send him the receipts from the MO's and the separation agreement. No luck. He just wanted the $11 grand.
So when I started getting collection calls at the new number and collection letters at the new address that they swore they did have records of, I called them and told them to take a flying leap. I called my husband and forced him to return my money for the payments. I also told Citi that since that they could not notify me that there was a problem with the account BEFORE they reported it and that since they sent everything to my husband I gave then his number and told them not to EVER call me or send me anymore letters.
I have bad credit now and can not get a decent car. Partly because of someone at Citi not doing her job and updating my info. As I never got statements when I lived in GA, I just assumed that I would not get then while living in TX either.
Now I keep my own records and do not allow anyone to do for me. I also record everything that a creditor tells me or I discuss when I call them. That way I have proof.
I have not done business with Citifinancial auto and never had a loan from them. About three weeks ago I started getting daily phone calls from them on my cell phone. If I do not answer it they do not leave a message, if I do answer it they have a recording asking me to call another number, when I call it they ask for my phone number to look up "my account" which I do not have and they tell me they find nothing on it, therefore, without any information on my account they cannot take my number out of the system.
To Mike Anony:
Apparently you skipped reading comprehension classes in school. The complainant DID inform CitiFinancial of the move, but they continued to send communications to his former address. Now don't you feel stupid? If you don't currently work for CitiFinancial, you'd fit in there perfectly.
C Christensen,
Why don't you tell us the entire story? You waited a year to update your address with the people that paid for your car? You were basically what they call a "SKIP." At the same time you opted not to notafy Citi of your address change you must have missed a couple of statements and not paid. The collateral that you were driving was not being paid for as agreed.
Businesses such as Citi do all they can to mitigate their losses and never will repo a vehicle under false pretenses... If there is a way to work with you and keep you in the POS veicle they will. Any time a repo or a charge off takes place the company holding the paper takes a loss. Lots of $ lost every year in the industry's of mortgage, auto, ect... do to individuals that buy things that cant afford or bother not to pay for. It's not convenient that they repo'd your veh after 3 years, you just did a good job of hiding for a year.
Good luck finding a decent % rate in the next 5-7 years.
Mishandling of loan payments!
My daughter purchased a car in may, 2007. This Company provided the financing, however, the dealership did not provide them with a complete address for my daughter.
After a month passed and there was no communication from the financing co. my daughter was concerned. She got in touch with the dealership because she had no contact infor. for Citi Financial Auto. When she finally reached the Co., she was told that they had no apartment number listed in her address. She went to the post office and sent a payment (her first) that same day. Citi Financial Auto Claims to have never received that payment. Three weeks later, I made a payment over the phone, after authorizing the post office to trace the first payment z9 a money order issued by the US Postal service). 10 days later, Citi Financial Auto claims to have not received this 2nd payment either! WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY DOING OVER THERE? NO WONDER THEY HAVE SUCH A BAD REPUTATION!
Hello my name is Shawna and I have bought car through this company as well. They are the worst company that I have ever had to deal with in my life. It is very very difficult to get anything out of them and trying to speak to a manager of someone from a corporate office is completely out of the question. They take you round and round avoiding it. I have made several payments through money gram and they continue to overcharge me and try drafting throug a prepaid debit card that I once authorized. This card no longer even exists and I have told them many times to stop trying to pull from this card...instead they charge me with all the returns plus my regualr payments. This company is ripping people off left and right. This is really ridiculous! Something needs to be done!
When paying my bills to these people I send them by certified mail. That way they have to sign for the payment. there is a record of recieving the payment with signature. I learned this the hard way with these people.
I too have been having serious problems with Citifinancialauto My payment is 358.44 a month out of that 261.60 is applied to interest! My car I bought from toyota in muscle shoals alabama. while the rep @ toyota was very nice. This loan company is so horrible that I am recommending that ppl do not buy from toyota or use citi either. I have recently lost my job and i was told by a rep that i could get a refigure on my pymts to make them lower. Now they tell me that I don't qualifiy I had another rep tell me that I had to be behind 3 pymts before they would refigure pymts. They tell you they don't want to reposses the car that's up to me weather i default or not. They have agent #'s but don't want to give them to you over the phone. Ask for a supervisor they put you on hold for 10 min often ending with a disconnect. Lucky my mother is willing to help but it's only because my father just died that she has the money. I do not recommend citi to anyone. the phone system is impossible to navigate. so i put in my info and them press 0 three times to get to rep. who then gives a line of b.s. and transfer me to 'another dept" which has no label. Good luck with dealing with this lot of babbling idiots and their management.
i had sent my first payment for my new suv i got a loan for from citifinancial. i paid my first payment by the mail because after paying out so much money i couldnt afford the extra $15 to pay for it over the computer or the phone. i had recieved numberous phone calls from citifinancial (some one different each time) they would call my cell phone...my work phone...also the co signer's work phone. everytime it was something different. i would be told that the would look in to it. and repeatedly told me to cancel my check and send another. (are you going to pay my fee for canceling a check) since they could never find my check. even though i had proof they recieved it (according to the post office tracking) i was also told that they were going to put it "in the computer" there was never a note on the computer when ten minutes later someone else would call again. i was told that i was not going to be charged a late fee by citifinancial due to the fact i had proof that i sent it. but i guess that i never was put on the computer either. i have recieved phone call "private" from citifinanacial and yet again FIVE MINUTES! later i would recieve another call from them but this time from the company number.
i will not be sending them the late fee i feel if they would like to charge me for their lost then i think they should pay for my fee for cancelling my check. i will be finding a way to get another vehicle just to get away from citifinancial. i dont have time to deal with their incompentent ways.
Poor service!
In 1997 I purchased a car from a different finance company, and not to long after CitiFinancial bought the company. My payments were 211.34 a month and the loan was only for 6900.00. In 2003 my loan was satisfied and the title to this vehicle was surrendered, and not shortly after the car was sold. I just recently received a letter from a collections agency stating that they are attempting to collect a debt for citifinacial. I called this company back and inquired about what they were saying. Citfinacial states that I owe them over 9,000.00. I told this collections agency that I don’t owe this company any money and I faxed them a copy of the title of the car so that they could see that this automobile loan was satisfied. If you know of anyone that has a class action lawsuit against this company please e-mail me.
This company is a rip off beware...
The cost of borrowing from Citifinancial is unbelievable. I borrowed $15, 000 from them not realizing that I would have to pay them back $25, 000 plus the amount I paid monthly goes directly to interest first than the balance I’ve paid these people 2 times over and still owed them the $15, 000 when I went and consolidated my debts they were the only company that wouldn’t drop the interest payments which means I’ll still be paying for another 3 years until this amount is paid. I think I would have been better going to a loan shark I think I would have been better off. Even now I’m making my payments on time and they are phoning the Credit Company I deal with every month for payments. Avoid these people if you can, there are other ways to deal with you debts. They are very dishonest and sneaky.
Donna Borden
Citi financial took my car payments and repossesed my car stateing I was behind in payments. The payments were taken directly out of my bank account. I would love to have a class action lawsuit against them. Conveniently, when you call citi to talk to resolve your issue they give you someones voice mail and they never return your calls.
Money never received!
I sent citifinancial auto a payment for my auto payment back in may 2007. I called to check my payment status and was informed that they did not receive it. It was in the form of a money order. I quickly sent a payment again and put a tracer on the money order. I got the copy of the money order and found that it was cashed by citifinancial and never applied to my account. I faxed them a copy of all information and got a confirmation. I called and they told me they never received it.
This is becoming a growing problem with them. This is the second time they have done this to me. I always send my payments on time and they manage to screw it up.
Do not feel rain on the same thing happen to us in 2008.We sent a money order for our payment .But they claimed they did not recieve it .But we got a copy of the money order reciept. It had been cashed at their bank. The manager was rude also. You the good does not like ugly. What goes around come around. Sometimes it hurt.To the manager that talked to me ugly that day I hope that you remember me.
Why were two checks sent? A financial institution cannot "hold" a post-dated check and if the funds were available for both checks why not just send one? Lock boxes, as they are called, do nothing but post payments for several different companies and very few even look at any correspondence that may be sent with the payment. It is also a good idea to always note the account number on the check itself, since the statements can easily get separated from the payment.
The same thing just happened to me. I sent two checks in one envelope and only one of them was posted to the account. They lost the other one. Can you believe that? They said that a machine opens the mail, takes out the check and destroys the rest. Probably alot of checks, money orders and such are destroyed by this technological advance. Sounds like this is happening alot lately.
Payment problems!
In 2001 we purchased a car that was originally financed with another company. Citifinancial ended up with the loan. At one point, I sent in 2 payments. Several weeks later I received a letter in the mail stating they were going to repossess my car if I didn't bring my loan current within 10 days. When I called them, they showed no record of the payment. I had sent a Western Union money order. At that point they required 2 MORE payments up and beyond the $900 I had just sent them. I had to contact Western Union for a copy of the money order, which took 30 days. Once I received the proof that I had mailed it to them and they had cashed it, they still denied ever getting it. It took NUMEROUS phone calls and a couple of faxes before it was resolved. No one ever called me back to let me know it had been corrected nor did I ever receive an apology for THEIR error. At one other point in the loan, I was attempting to make a payment arrangement splitting my 2 payments by the end of the same month. Once they pulled up my account information, I was hung up... not once, not twice, but several times. Repeated phone calls requesting to speak with a supervisor got me nothing more than belittling and rude remarks and more hang ups. I never called back. I've since paid off my loan but I would NEVER nor would I suggest anyone else to ever internationally do business with them.
They’re Saudi Owned. What do you expect? I paid them off and went American. As should any good US Citizen.
Lies and unlawful bank drafts
Yesterday (the day the expense was due), we made a payment for my fiancé’s vehicle. The fee itself should have been a little over $700. However, we were informed that there was a late fee of $35. I inquired as to why this was, and the question was never actually answered. At this point, the bill has risen to nearly $740. Next, I am told that there is a $14.95 processing fee since they utilize Western Union for ONLINE payments. Bear in mind that I am paying over the phone. I have about $750 in this particular account, and explain that if I am required to pay the ridiculous $15 processing fee, then I will happily send in the payment via next-day mail (it's already late, apparently, so what difference does it make?)! The service representative I was speaking with ASSURED me that the $14.95 fee would be waived (so as not to put me into overdraft), and gave me a confirmation number.
Today, however, the full $753 was drafted from my account, which put me into overdraft causing me to incur an ADDITIONAL $35 fee from my bank. I called to inquire as to why this was, and complain if necessary, and the "boss" at Citifinancial stated that there is NO WAY his representative would have told me that because they have no way of waiving that particular fee. He flat out told ME THAT I LIED to him. He refused to do anything to rectify the situation because it was some kind of fault of mine.
Ultimately: Citifinancial UNLAWFULLY withdrew money from my bank account that I DID NOT authorize. I am absolutely livid because of that, but the fact that they will not own up to--or even reimburse me for their ERROR is what really upsets me. If I have any say in this, no one I know will EVER do any business with this company again.
I agree Citi Financial is a rip off! the customer service reps are "RUDE"! im currently working with them now to working on making payment arrangements..and they dont even want my money all they say is i will document the system! WTH! im trying to catch on my payments since i was behind due to a death in the family and had to help pay for funeral cost.. This stupid company has no sympathy at all! NEVER AGAIN i will do business with them i cannot wait to refinance my car and go somewhere else!
yup...they call a week before our payment is due every month like a debt collector wanting our payment info! We tell them that we will have there payment to them on the due date just like every other month. My wife screwed up and gave it to them one month and told them not to take it out till the 30th. They took it out that day and cost us $140 in fees and won't own up to it. So I shorted them the $140 the next month and they are trying to say we owe them. What a bunch of crooks. If they mess with me they won't get anymore of our money! On top of calling early for the payment every month they even called our place of work looking for early payment!
yeah CITI financial is a crooked company and thats for sure, i would never do nore recommend buisness be done with this company, to anyone including my worst enemy, the have no sence of loyalty to thier customers. I had a 10, 000 dollar loan with them at 22% interest just something to get me started off in the credit world. well after 2 years of on time payments and over payments, i refinanced my loan and went with wells fargo wich is a different story next thing i know two years after being refinanced with wells fargo i get a call from citifinancial sayng that i owe them money from my loan, at this time i didn't understand because i was refinanced with wellsfargo, well after talking with them, when they sent the pay off quote to wells fargo, wellsfargo cut a check for the whole amount besided 29.00 dollars, so thier was 29 dollars left over from my 10, 000 dollar loan, so instead of sayign hey wait this isn't enough to make the payoff we are short 29.00 dollars we need you to have them re do the check or we still need 29 to close the pay off . instead they just took the payment and applied it as a payment towards the loan, so kinda like i paid up on my loan for 3 years, then sent me on my merry way thinking i was closed out and done with that loan, hell they even said thanks for doing buisness with us for the last two years hope you decide to loan with us again, so heres where the story gets twisted. two years have passed since i did my re financing and i called wellsfargo to get my pay off so i can pay it and get my title, they tell me that wells fargo don't have the title citi financial does, so i call them and they tellme that i have an outstanding balance of 4400 with them when i asked them what the hell from, they said when i refinanced my loan i left 29 dollars not paid and for the past years this has been accrueing interest equaling the amount of 4400 approxametly and that they will not tak that off, i xplained to them how that was a bank mess up and if they knew i wanted to pay off and they seen it was short they should of never cashed the check or told me that needs paid also instead of acting liek it was closed out, they refuse to take responsability and fix the problem even after them contacting me on the phone sayign that they would get this fixed. so i am stuck in a possition i have retained a lawer and also contacted the local news company to let them know of the scheme that are going on so no one else has to go threw this.
