The biggest scam there is! I never ordered any dvd or join there club. Why would I, when I'm a blockbuster guy. The claim they send me a dvd then I pay later. I never got the dvd and my wife accidentally paid the eight dollars because we pay all the bills on time. So when she ask about the club, I was shock. My first thought was a simple mistake made by them or someone stole my identity. I think that maybe columbia house is going around now stealing information in return cashing in on decent people. I recently start entering into the pch sweepstakes without ordering anything from them. That stike me as being odd because now pch are saying they are not an affiliate with columbia house and I was thinking "why wouldn't they be?" I'm going to see this thing to the end. I never heard of them and now I owe them... I would like to hear from others out here so we can get a bigger movement against scams. Please include my email address fredlstr AT yahoo.com with Columbia House Class Action Movement. Thank you for reading about my problems.

I never ordered any DVD's but I paid for the first one because I try to pay all my bills. But I did write cancel on it, yet I still continue to get more. Every time I do I always return it unopened with cancel written on it. I did not order this and I do not want it. So please get this taken care and do not send anymore. I will be sending the one that I just received back unopened. I REPEAT DO NOT SEND ANYMORE.

I joined columbiahouse.com with having only 4 DVD's to purchase over a 1 year period. It seemed like a good deal but it's turned into a never-ending nightmare! Every purchase has been incorrect. Every shipment exchange has been improperly handled as well as improperly billed. Every customer service rep I have spoken to both in e-mail and over the phone as been a complete ###. I don't think anyone should join this web site. If you do you will certainly regret it.

I've decided that the writer of the original complaint is a ### for paying a bill without receiving a movie. Well that isn't the only thing. I noticed that you were unable to complete a thought in a sentence so you chose fragments from different thoughts, smashing them together. I'm sure that is why you are not receiving any help from these people. I also believe that everyone who commented on this ### has some form of brain damage. I have used Columbia House for a few years and have never had a problem. Twice the movie was damaged in the mail and Columbia House mailed me another movie right away free of charge. I think the problem that you people are having is that you don't know how to use a computer or even a phone. Maybe it isn't the people working at Columbia House that are ###ed, maybe it is you.

At first, I was pretty vexed - I never signed up for Columbia House DVD, and I suddenly received a bill for $5. I was perplexed as to how this company obtained my email and address information, and I realized that a long time ago, I stupidly filled out one of those "get a free gift" offers on spam - I'm sure the spam was affiliated with Columbia House somehow. Anyway, I emailed Columbia House to no avail (would come back as a failed delivery), and tried to talk to an actual person to no avail (would automatically hang up).

I have the steps guys, if you really want to cancel your account and membership.

1) Do call their Customer Service line: [protected].
2) Press 1 for English
3) Press 5 for more options

After this, select either option 4 (website info) or option 6 (non-member info) - sorry I forgot which one I pressed.

The point is this - it will seem impossible, but try as many option numbers as you can after pressing 5 "for more options".

At one point, I did have to punch in my account number, and I was placed on hold for about 10 minutes. Wait it out. You WILL get through. Just try out all of them after you press 5 for more options.

There is no direct line, so be patient and try out all the numbers after pressing "5" for more options on their main customer service line [protected]).

I got connected to a rep named Lynn Brown. She cancelled my account immediately and instructed that when I receive my first package from Columbia House, DO NOT OPEN IT. Instead, write on the package with a big marker: Refused - Return to Sender. Just drop it off in the mail box and you're done.

Hope that helps.

I seem to have a problem with not knowing why or how my credit card got charged $27.50, when I have no idea why. I have not received anything from Columbia House, and I never authorized anything to be charged to my card. I sure would like to hear from someone, who might be able to straighten this out. I have tried to call the number that the credit card company gave me, and all I get is an automated system that has no option to speak to a representative. I just want everyone to know that I am NOT a ###. I know how to use a computer and I know how to talk to people on the phone if I can get in touch with a real person. Some people may not have trouble, which I understand, but then there are those who do. Maybe the smart mouth works for Columbia House.

Thank you for taking care of my situation.

To Whom It May Concern,
I am requesting that you terminate my account:Acc.# [protected], because you keep sending videos I did not order. I am getting tired of sending back these selections in which I have the legal right to keep because I did not order them. My obligation was met several months ago and you keep sending me videos I did not order. Please terminate my account as soon as possible. You can e-mail me at the above e-mail address.
Thank you,
Philip R. Kasparites

I was tricked into signing up with this club with the promise of a $50 gift card to a local restaurant of my choice. I chose Red Lobster. My account was charged th $27 something, twice! I did receive the DVD's, though. Their customer service is of no service at all. Someone, (after months of phone, e-mail, and written, sent by mail complaints ) I received an email that said they have lots of vendors selling their product and that there was no way to find out which vendor lied to me about a gift card. If these vendors are making money to bring in more subscribers, wouldn't they have to prove who they got to sign up and provide my member number? They are all in cahoots to rip of consumers and think we are all so stupid. I have complained to the BBB and will forever spread the word that Columbia is a rip-off. Stay away from them and hold on to your money!

I have found a great way to speak to a real person at almost any company...you just push the one that says " if you want make an order, push this # ", works everytime, then you just say you pushed the wrong # & could they please connect you to the right #. They will usually comply.
I too have had a heap of trouble with Col.House. I am now just declining ALL 'directors selections'.After a while, they will remove you themselves.

I have told columbia house months ago to cancel my membership. They still keep sending me selections I did not order. Which I have sent them all back. So now I get a letter from a collection agency saying that I owe them 36.50. I do not have anything that belongs to them. If they would have cancelled my membership like I told them to before this wouldn't have happened. I guess business is so bad that they have to charge innocent people just to make a buck!
I am going to call the better business bureau.

I just want to say that I'm a member of Columbia House and I called them yesterday to ask them to send me a password, because I had forgotten mine. So, she said I have reset your password and will be emailing it to you, it may take 24 hours for you to get it, well, it's been 24 hours and still no password, all I want to do is to pay for my dvd online. So, could anyone tell me how do you go about getting them to send you a simple password, I mean after all I am a customer and I still have DVD'S to fulfill my committment, but I guess they don't care. But when it comes time and they add that late fee because I couldn't get a password to get onto their website to pay my bill then we have some trouble, because I will not pay the late fee. I mean how hard is it to send someone a password, or why can't they set it up so that you can change your password yourself. I mean this is crazy. That's why I hate fooling with Columbia House. And there prices on their DVDS are too high anyway, by the time they add tax and S&H, I mean what does a person have to do to get a password so they can logon to the account and pay their darn bill. For a little bit I wouldn't pay for the dvd and cancel my membership, there is no wonder there are so many complaints. cindygail43 6-6-2009

I am also having a problem with Columbia House. I had an account and have tried to cancel by letter, email and by phone for over 6 months. I continue receiving DVD's and bills for those DVD's even after I refuse the shipments. Now I have no DVD's and am being sent to a collection agency to pay for them. I have even declined my directors selection many times...I don't get the DVD, but I get the bill. I have told them in letters also that I will be keeping all future shipments without payment as I have not ordered them. But I am sure I will get a bill and sent to collections. Anyone know how we can enforce this law?

And to the person that called us all ###s: I have had my account with Columbia House for years also. I had canceled with them once before about 10 years ago and didn't have an issue. Now, neither I nor my mother can seem to get our accounts canceled. They don't seem to have an issue keeping customers, it appears to be an issue with letting them go and how they establish new ones. Have you ever tried to cancel your account? Give that a try and get back to us after you have been screwed and sent to collections.

I also have a problem with these guys and mine started with receiving phone calls from a collection agency. I HAVE NEVER had an account with Columbia House, never recieved anything, not even a bill. The first time I called customer service I tried to explain to the rep what had happened. She would not tell me a thing except for me to contact the collection agency. She then hung up on me. I called right back and aked for a supervisor and I did get one who was very nice and helpful. Come to find out the address was incorrect and that is why I never recieved anything from them. I was told that the common way to sign up for Columbia House is on the internet (which I never did) and I think its crappy thing that ANYONE could get on the internet and sign someone up. Now, I just wait and see if this supervisor does what he tells me!

On February 2007 I received an "URGENT MESSAGE" Colombia House, it was a past due amount of $58.42 regarding some INTRO PACKAGE which I have never ordered nor have I ever enroll in their program. Until todays date i have never received any merchandize; i have written to them on February 21, 2007; and have been calling the [protected] and get a buzy signal, and this collection is on my TRW's. I have not gotten a hold of anyone.

VERY UPSET!
