dirty toilet facilities - ilkley branch
Visited today at 11.15am
Store is currently undergoing some refurbishments and was therefore a little untidy/not smart
However, on using the toilet facility I was disgusted at the terribly unkempt and dirty state of the whole room. The toilet seat was not attached to the toilet. The toilet was absolutely filthy. The floor was very dirty with water, white liquid of some description and tons of toilet paper and hand towels left on the floor. The bin was used but the rubbish on the floor had clearly been there for a significant time - it was not a recent incident but rather a build up of used toilet roll, paper towels etc.
The state of the room certainly needed the refurbishments that this branch are currently undergoing but the failure to clean the toilet facility regularly made me concerned for the hygiene in this branch and worried me.
It spoilt our visit.
manager
I was taken on at Costa cofee at Brunel university Kingston lane Uxbridge Middlesex. The manager never took any bank details from me or id she said she ring me when she needs me but hasnt my number. I worked two days and haven't got paid. I am owed two days 10 hrs. She said she would give a form too my friend who works there that never happened. She said when I worked there she is fully staffed week after. I feel I've been unfairly treated her name is Janet.
staffs refused to check cctv after a crime incident at costa coffee-sagrada familiar, barcelona
This is regarding my experience at your store at Barcelona, Spain. The store address is Carrer Provenca 419 | Sagrada Familia, 08025 Barcelona, Spain. I went to Costa Coffee-Sagrada Familia with my husband and my brother on October 18 (between 4:20PM - 5:30PM). We ordered two iced coffees and sat at a table near the front door. I sat on a chair against the wall and there was a CCTV camera on top of where I sat. We stayed there more than an hour. I never left my chair. None of us left the table for a bathroom break. We stayed together for the whole time. Before we left Costa Coffee we found out that my backpack was stolen on my chair (next to me). When we informed the staffs, none were willing to help and refused to check the CCTV camera record to see what happened. We are tourists and asked if they could help us call the police since they said they only allow the police to check the camera records. They refused to call and insisted that the only thing we could do is to go to a police station to report it. We were helpless and frustrated. I did not expect that my backpack could be found, but I was hoping your staffs at the coffee shop could check the CCTV and told us what had exactly happened. If this is the way you treat your customers, you are a very bad company. Could you please tell me what is your purpose of having the cctv cameras at your coffee shop? Are those cctv camera for decoration or used to deceive your customers? Costa Coffee-Sagrada Familia is not safe.
I would not recommend you to my family, friends, and colleagues. That was my first time in your coffee shop. It's also my last time.
costa coffee hampton serpentine
I visited Costa Hampton serpentine green on the 07th November 2016 at approximately 11.40hours quad for around 5 minutes to get to the front and order my normal large skinny latte and a Christmas special skinny large Black Forest hot chocolate to be told sorry no hot chocolate. I would have appreciated a sign at the end of the counter stating this. How can Costa advertise Christmas special hot chocolates yet have no chocolate available. They are also advertising 25% of between the hours of 2pm-5pm yet there is
Hardly no Xmas specials if they have no chocolate. I have been going is nto that particular Costa 4-5 times a week as I refuse to go to others because the service is normally excellent and the staff know me but this has seriously put me off from visiting Costa and I may have to start returning to pret or star bucks. The lady never apologised and when I cancelled the whole order she was like you can still have yours...why would I sit and drink a coffee alone whilst my partner sat with no drink.
time wait
I have just sat for 10 mins outside costa in darnley glasgow behind another car so could not leave. When eventually we were asked what we want there was no apology for wait and then after giving order was told i would have to wait 20mins.now obviously ppl in shop were priority so we should have beem told before we sat that length of time we would have to wait 20 mins. Bad service will not be back

Get over it. You do not need an apology for the wait. You obviously saw that the other car was waiting for their order, so it is no surprise what was going on. AS for your wait time, making fresh takes a minute. Next time, stay home.
rudeness from a manager to a member of staff in front of customers
I was visiting Tesco on Ambassador Road, Cowley, Oxford for a Costa Coffee with my three year old son as a small treat after a good day at nursery. We sat with our coffee and drink and cake (which tasted stale). There was a Manager and two young girls working on this day (Tuesday 02 November 2016 at approximately 1715 hours). One of the young ladies was washing the 'gates' as asked by her Manager. No sooner had she began cleaning, the Manager came over and told her to stop what she was doing and clean the box that holds the biscuits and clean it. The young lady in a calm and quiet manner explained to the Manager that she would finish cleaning the gates and then clean the box on the counter. The Manager became loud and aggressive in manner demanding her to clean the counter now. The Manager is called Carlos and the young lady is called Claudia. The Manager rudely said 'why can you not do it now', you can do it now.. Why are you not doing what I am telling you to do'. The young lady tried to explain she was not refusing but was finishing one job first. The Manager became loud and stated she was rude and never listened. This young girl became tearful and walked away. As a customer, I feel this was very unprofessional. The Manager if he has an issue with his staff should speak to them off the shop floor, not embarrass them in front of customers. My three year old stated mumma that man is shouting at that woman.
I did ask the young girl if she was alright. She stated she was but was crying stating the Manager is having a bad day. The Manager should never speak to his staff like that. I would not want to work with him. Also, it does not encourage the team member to want to work for Costa Coffee. I feel staff should be given positive feedback, encouraged to be the best at whatever job they do. That was just putting her down and I really felt for her.
I hope this will be addressed with the Manager. I do not feel able to take my son there in the future and I love Costa Coffee!
I hope Claudia feels appreciated and knows she does a good job soon.
Kind regards
Mel Thompson

no service
Ordered coffee and muffin at Muscat Airport.
Total came to 6.100 OMR. I had 100 basically and 50 OMR bill. Attendees refused to ac ept order as he did not want to give change. This is not acceptable service at an airport. If they are short on change it is simple for them to walk 50m to a bank and get change. The customer should not be axpected to do this. This is a coffe shop in an international airport not a Bus.
delivery driver
I think you need to be more careful of who you employ as your delivery drivers... they don't really give you a good reputation when they drive like idiots. The driver of the van registered 'FN64 BWF' on 7th September decided to cut me off on two occasions. Getting himself into the wrong lane and pulling in front of myself and another driver without indication ON A ROUNDABOUT, cutting in front of myself AGAIN without indication when they clearly couldn't follow 'diversion signs' and later breaking sharply before turning right AGAIN without prior indication. I suggest you be careful, you're giving the ever so good reputation of Costa Coffee a bad name with useless, pathetic drivers. I'd suggest a number of things you could do to change the matter... firstly you could make them retake a test (test firstly, followed by driving test), secondly you could fire them with instant dismissal despite the many children they may have to feed at home, or thirdly, chop of their arms and legs so they can no longer drive idiotically. Perhaps the methods of 'renovation' to said driver are too harsh? How about you teach them to use an indicator? Or learn the route of a journey, after all everyone knows 'proper prior planning prevents piss poor performance' and everyone following the driver of 'FN64 BWF' will agree the performance of said drivers driving was 'unequivocally, undoubtedly, indisputably, undeniably piss poor.'
Please find 'evidence' attached, photo taken by passenger.
Thank you.
hygiene
Went in Costa in The priors leamington spa, and the state of where the coffee is served was disgusting, looked like it hadn't been wiped down for a long time, there was rubbish on floor, the cups were falling out of a cupboard, it looked really dirty, my mum and I use Costa a lot as we love the toasties and latte, but no way would I eat in there, my mum went to get the lattes, whilst I got a seat outside, she came back and one of the glasses was half full, so I went in and asked if they could fill it, that is when I noticed all the dirty mess, I said to my mum, have you seen the state of that place, and she said, yes, and I think there were 4 staff on
manager service
Dear Whitbread,
I was on Crawley, County Mall shopping centre lower level, on 16 july early morning .. I can't beleive.. with which principle, standard.. rule.. do you find your store manager?
I was the third person in the queue.. the manager was on the coffee machine.. is he able to do a coffee?
you choice all your staff without any garantee that they are able to do the coffee?
5 person on the queue (it means no queue.. just 5 person) he was stressed.. anxious.. 5 person? anxious for 5 coffee?
I never, never.. NEVER drink a very ### drink. He is not able to do an acceptable customer service, it is better not say about the coffee quality.. where did you find him? in a charity office?
I could expect from the trainee barista that he is not ready or able to do an acceptable drink or acceptable customer service, but this is not acceptable from the store manager!
Maybe you don't understand, I am writing about the STORE MANAGER!
Costa is a coffee company or you sell dirty water?
good job Costa.. your management recruitment procedures are very very good!
and please.. don't contact me back.. or by email that I am not able to pick up the phone always, but don't worry, I won't never come in a Costa coffee again

discrimination against a person with a disability
Wanted a coffee at the Costa Coffee shop. As I am currently on sick leave I try and treat myself to a coffee once a week and I had been using this particular shop for around 5 months, as the Lakeside shopping centres are usually to full for me to get into as a single person with a disability. There are only a few safe seats for my spinal condition and that I am not knocked about with people coming past.
On Friday last week (1st Apr 15) I went into the store for my usual Costa coffee around lunchtime. As I am walking disabled (with having had 11 spinal operations and procedures) and having nerve damage to my right thigh, I not only limp, but my thigh can give way and I also use walking sticks when needed. When I place my order I always advise the person on the till that I don't need the saucer (too unsteady to hold in my hands) and I just usually get a spoon and then my coffee.
However on Fri I was told by the till person that "TI WAS COMPANY POLICY FOR ME TO HAVE A SAUCER, DUE TO SPILLS". I told her that I didn't want one and she said I "HAD TO". I told her that I was walking disabled and she then insulted me further by telling me "I will take the coffee for you".
At that point I asked to speak to the manager and explained that I was a regular customer and due to my disability I can't USE a saucer and he told her that was OK if the customer requests. I also informed her that many people like myself with disability or disabled are fearlessly independent to try and maintain a normal life as possible.
Then the guy making the coffee's jumped into the conversation making light of it and trying to joke about it, with comments like "It's all good". Well actually no it wasn't all good, to be humiliated like that, to have 3 Costa coffee staff members ganging up on my including the manager.
Felt completely intimidated, depressed and upset.
Utterly disgusting service, no real apology from manager.
I felt like I was the person in the wrong, when this person had no training on dealing with people with disabilities. I should have informed her 1st. REALLY.
Don't think I will be going to a Costa for a long time
Disgusted, disappointed and thoroughly upset
Melanie
What was wrong with her offering to take the coffee for you? If you can shake and spill the coffee with a saucer, you can shake and spill it without.
basingstoke drive thru
Racism. My husband went to the drive through last night approximately 22:15 to get a hot chocolate for our daughter who wasn't feeling too well. He has never been to the drive thru before and as he saw people inside the store, he assumed it was opeed. However, he was completely ignored whilst in his car by the window by staff who clearly saw him waiting. He said a male staff member was about to approach the window to open it and a lady told him not to. He saw all this whilst the window was still not opened. I will make this public and ensure that I never visit a costa store again. I AM bitterly disappointed as i spend a lot on visits to coffee shops, but at least there is Starbucks!
This does not sound as racism at all, they have not exactly said anything to be called "racists" Depends on what time your husband went there - the drive thru has an order point and a collect point, if you miss the order point, then clearly they can't do your order, also they might've already closed, because assumed and open - two different things. The staff could be inside, they don't exactly need to wear their uniform if their shift has ended.
hygiene
It's Thursday 26th Feb 15 at 11.20 this morning my husband had an appointment at Salisbury Odstock Hospital Wiltshire and at around 12/12.15 we had to wait in the pharmacy for his perception up to half an hour so I decided to get us a coffee went to the entrance hall where there is a coffee shop above the door showing costa proud to serve coffee so I went in yes there was a que so I joins it waited about 10 minutes to be served the staff were glum faced and untidy the hot plate for pies and pasties looked like it still had the day befores greasy hand prints still on it looking around the tables had not been cleared or cleaned there was a absolutely filthy black floor mop on show to the public I orderd a latte and hot chocolate to take away he took payment and then he proceeded to make the drinks passed the drinks to me and went to serve the next customer I was left to work out which one was which I moved to the sugar and spoon counter took one look an just syed with discust there were three members of staff that I could see so one of them could of tidyed up if this shop is representing your company then it should be reported for inspection by the area manager and to top it all its in a hospital maybe lack of staff was to blame as they were very busy the only good thing to come out of it was the drinks were just as good as always.
Uhm, just so that you know if they are really busy, it's quite hard to clean tables as customers keep on coming in and coming out and leaving everything wherever they want to, which doesn't help staff at all. The customers could be a bit helpful and at least try not to leave the place completely gross. So yes, it's hard to clean a store with 3 people, when it's really busy. Also - hot chocolate - clearly the brown looking drink, latte - clearly the drink with white froth on top with a little bit of brown dot - which is the coffee - in the middle. If it was a syrup latte and normal latte same size, then yes, they have to tell you what each drink is, but if they are two completely different looking drinks, it's not hard to tell... sorry

I was in work my self and sent to check for boxes behind GAME as I am in charge of packing essentials for a online buseiness. I have permission from the store to do so, as I was exiting the ally a female member of you're staff came out the back of costa coffe with a ciggerrette and no manner's. your member of staff then demanded to know what my businesse...

On 21/11/14, I visited the swan centre Yardley branch of Costa Coffee with my daughter. I ordered a gingerbread latte and a few other items. The way my latte was presented to me was absolutely horrendous & messy . I was going to complain there and then but I thought it would be humiliating to the staff as there were other customers in the queue. But now I regret not complaining because from that date to now I have left so many feedback and complaints on their websites . And I'm shocked that being such a well established company nobody has had the decency to reply back.

over pricing in one location of costa
Dear Sirs,
I am well aware that your Cost Coffee selling strategy worldwide is to apply same products prices in all branches existing in one country with no variation from one branch to another.
This was not the case in the above branch located in this area, C.D Village summer resort, Sidi Abdul Rahaman, over pricing products with up to 50 % more than other branches.
I need to have explanation to this over ruling un justified action .

Costa has really gone downhill, they never fill a cup now and get stroppy if it is pointed out to them, they are poorly staffed, poorly stocked and the employees generally have a bad attitude. Time to go elsewhere I think
Terrible service, staff doesn't know how to speak polite English, no one ensures that the queue is being looked after and doesn't even apologise when it's our turn to order (15 minutes wait with only 1 customer in front) and isn't even taking your money.
As a customer, it isn't my problem if the place is understaffed or if the staff isn't trained properly, but having worked FOR YEARS in a customer service business, I know the standard of all coffee shops groups and this one CLEARLY doesn't reflect its image.
They aren't that bad.
costa coffee
Stopped off for a coffee and found the coffee shop to be surrounded by rubbish that was clearly from Costa, The inside was nearly as bad with un-wiped tables and food detritus on the floor and seats. The tray on which our drinks was place was thick with the stick dry residue of a soft drink. One of the cups offered was not clean and when asked for a clean...

After visiting Costa coffee in Knutsford and sipping my well earned coffee and relaxing before going on to meet my next client .I visited the toilet and was in complete shock, the toilet seat had human feices on and not been flushed, but what was worse was the fact that these toilets had not been cleaned for months, dirt & grime everywhere I even took...

I recently visited your Great Ancoats Street outlet with my wife & 2 children as is our habit on a Sunday morning. After ordering I was told that the card payment machine was broken. Having insufficient cash I was left with no choice but to abandon my order & leave. I am not upset about the machine breaking - these things happen - what infuriated me was that we had queued for a good 15-20min & none of the staff had had the common sense & courtesy to warn the people in the queue. The apology from the manageress was both perfunctory & insincere. While I hesitate to use the word 'rude', to call the staff on this moring 'disinterested' would be an understatement. . This was a most disappointing experience - great coffee let down by terrible service.

I m a regular costa coffee costumer where I pop in everyday and spending 5 hours having my coffee, panini etc.. Today I really disappointed after all that eating and drinking I asked second time for the internet password (Which is expired every hour) and the counter told me to spend some money.. I never come face to face this kind of question before.. I m...
