I am a cancer patient and need to take a gram of HydroxyUrea every day to keep my blood platelet level in check.
I get my medication from DisChem in Mondeor every month.
I had an issue with the pharmacy in December 2019 where they insisted that I had collected my medication when I had not. The issue took multiple vists to the store and was finally resolved after 3 days.
On 2020/01/01, I received an SMS to order my meds in advance which I did. When I went to collect my medication a few days later, the meds had not been prepared asthere was no stock of the Hydrea. The pharmacist seemed to not know how to resolve the problem. I phoned my oncologist who put me through to Dis-Chem Direct who delivered the meds to Dis-Chem Mondeor where I collected them 3 days later.
On 2020/02/02 I again received an SMS regarding my meds. I phoned to enquire whether a new script was required and was assured that nothing was required. When I went to collect the medication I was informed that a new script from my oncologist was required. On the 6th Feb I emailed Mondeor the new script and informed them that I would collect on the 13th Feb. I went to collect the meds yesterday (13th Feb) only to be told that there was no stock and that the script had not been filled. In the week that it took the pharmacy to dispense the meds, no one called to tell me that they were unable to source the medication from the supplier, they didn't even try to get the meds from any other store in the vicinity. I was AGAIN left to sort out my medication. This is slothful, disrespectful and slovenly behaviour of an entity which clearly has no regard for customer service.
Kindly take note of my complaint and train the staff so that they know what alternate solutions there are to dispense life-saving medication to patients.
Kind regards
NA Steyn
