I've been using Twice both to buy and sell to for about
I've been using Twice both to buy and sell to for about 3 years. It's true, occasionally there's the low offer but, if you think about it, in most cases you're sending them garments that have been worn and they're going to try to resell them. I've had one Coach purse rejected for spots and there probably were spots and I wouldn't want to buy a used purse with spots. Overall my experience has been quite pleasant. I sometimes do the PayPal option but I generally prefer the store credit. I have purchased 3 pairs of Hudson jeans in my size for a fraction of the cost retail and actually free to me because I used store credit. Each pair has been perfect (one was even the exact length for me -- I'm short!). I'm a mom of 5 and buying retail (for me) usually means hitting the the clearance racks and that can be quite a chore with children in tow. I love the option of shopping online and finding couture at prices that even I can afford, I'm able to wear something besides the Mom Uniform of yoga pants and a t-shirt occasionally and feel a little fancy. I'd absolutely recommend this site. It is NOT A SCAM. Their return process is amazing too (I've only had to return about 4 items and all of them were in perfect condition, they just didn't fit me). They've recently launched their mens site and that's great as well. If you did have a not so happy experience, try again because it really does end up being worth it. If I can give advice for selling: read their policies and look at the brands they accept, it makes all the difference. They even break it down so you can see what you'll possibly make low-high for each item they accept. And, if you don't like the offer and you really don't want to lose the items you sent in, pay the $4.95 and they will send them back to you, so you're only out the cost of a cup of coffee.
Ebay a great place to shop but some sellers are crooked!
There is a seller on Ebay that goes by the user name pierregolfmanstore. Avoid this seller at all cost he sold me a pair of irregular $#*!ies jeans that had different size leg openings that goes over where your boots or shoes would be. The jeans also had coloration issues. I told him when he asked for a review on the jeans and to give feedback on him as a seller what I really thought about him and the jeans. He then begged me not to leave bad feedback. And he asked me to send him pictures so I did just that. I sent him several pictures. He proceeded to call me a liar and a scammer and something about faking pictures. Then he said after doing a forensic investigation that the jeans weren't the same jeans he sent and even the coloring was different. He is so full of it the pants are the ones he sent. I don't even have another pair of that style. I have a pair of the $#*!ies Flex and several pairs of the duck pants that come in 3 different colors. Brown, Black, Green. The ones I ordered from pierregolfmanstore the con-artist are Blue. He was upset because his 100% customer satisfaction rating was being tarnished. Because I told him I didn't want a $22 refund that would cost me more than that in my time and then having to buy gas for someone else and pay them for their time to run me around to find someone to print the return shipping label and then having to find someone to print out a label for me plus having to pay someone for their time and gas to take me to the Post Office to mail the jeans back out. I think little French Pierre is a peter puffer. I am posting this to warn everyone to avoid him and his items that he has for sale on EBay. He is a crook. Stop by ebay and look him up and tell him you heard he sells clothes that are 2nds at best and a bunch of irregulars. Avoid him at all cost or he will cheat you. Trust me you will not be satisfied!
WOW, It's eBay
Multi-vendor sites are great and convenient. In my professional opinion; eBay has the best platform overall, it is perfect. Completely simple and user friendly and is more economical giving more to the people! The issue is; not all vendors and staff members are trustworthy. When I first began to shop on eBay, the only issue I found also at other multi-vendor sites, were the vendors falsely advertising merchandise or not shipping the order. Years ago, you could call eBay and speak directly to a person and resolve the issue. One of their best features compared to others. For some ridiculous reason currently you have to try to resolve matters online via their website, then opt for them to call your number. Putting you a tad bit at risk. To add, I have several accounts on eBay, and other online stores I shop. As a form of protection from Goofy Stalkers, and identity theft. My youngest account with eBay was suspended for no logical reason. Other than my legal name was not on this less than 2 years old eBay account. I opted for eBay customer service to contact me regarding the issue and within seconds eBay called my phone. Only to tell me that they would not lift the suspension unless I provided them my LEGAL NAME AND BIRTHDAY. Highly suspicious. Being none of the other accounts that are 17 years or older, including none of the other online franchised Multi-vendor sites have given me any issue. In the email detailing why my account was suspended, eBay said "We wanted to let you know that your eBay account has been permanently suspended because of activity that we believe was putting the eBay community at risk." Events like this occur when tension, crime and war are present. To live in denial of whom lied to you, whom are most likely to lie to you; are signs of being G.E.D.Stupid. Overly sensitive to scrutiny? Why that is like being a sniveling idiot. Pierre is not an idiot or the topic of this review, I guess like most chairmen, he/they are unaware of the wrongdoings of their staff, because none have brought to him notice of such happenings. Was I displeased? Yes. Stalking is a serious crime; even Women that look like Mary Poppins have been found guilty of, and more.
Never had a Problem
Love ebay, as a buyer... haven't tried selling, yet. The auctions are fun, if the wait is a bit frustrating at times. I've only had one bad seller there, all others have been great, especially when it comes to answering questions.
As in all online sites you have to check on the seller reliability, that's what burned me when I first started buying... make to sure to check customer comments for each seller I buy from... Though this can be unreliable when it comes to the Chinese sellers. Personally, I don't buy from anyone with a rating below 99.0% rating and have only been burned once.
Paying with Paypal has been great as I don't have to give any credit card info to each individual seller when making purchases. Hopefully I will still have this option when ebay and Paypal split. I've gone on to use Paypal when shopping other sites, keeping all of my credit card info private and in one place rather than spread out across the internet. You don't have to have a Paypal card to use Paypal...
As far as Customer Service goes, The only problems I've had was in language and I requested, nicely, to have another representative with better English and everything was settled. I have always been treated with respect and my problems resolved within one phone call (***229, 5AM - 10PM PT, M-Sun).
UPDATE: Just last month, Jan 2016, I was burned on a purchase from China. The seller expected to get favorable rating for item when 2 cords were missing. This is NOT ebay's fault but the seller. I got burned because I compromised on the 99% feedback rule I usually follow... this seller had 99.4%.
After reading some of the complaints I realized that many, not all, are blaming ebay alone for the sellers' ripping people off. If buyers do their homework... check feedback and do Searches online for customer reviews of brands, there's less chance of being taken. Don't want to say ebay is perfect and always gets buyer's money returned, but it's ultimately up to the buyer for refunds. Too many complaints against a seller then ebay suspends them... Not sure how that works since not seller. Do remember that after the 30 days nothing will be done... you have contact the seller yourself... Been there, Done that and it doesn't work, at least for me.
I love shopping on Ebay.com!
I love shopping on Ebay.com! You can find so many unique things that you can't find anywhere else. Some that you need and some that you didn't know you needed until you discovered them! I've purchased 350+ items on Ebay.com and have only had two negative experiences.
Some tips for those new to purchasing on Ebay. You can bid on items or use the "Buy it Now" feature to purchase an item for the specified price. While it is exciting to bid on items, be careful that you don't get too caught in the excitement of winning that you end up spending more than you wanted to or get hooked on bidding on lots of different items. I did for awhile and found myself in debt so I learned my lesson. Just know your limits.
Always do your homework on the seller that you're thinking or purchasing an item from. Check their percentage score. The closer to 100% feedback the better. I won't touch anything under 90% and am even leary of those under 99% but that's just me. You also should look to see how many items the seller has sold as that does factor into how good or bad their score seems. If they haven't sold very many items and have a very low score that's a huge red flag while others that have sold thousands might not be as bad but still worth doing your homework. I always go to the seller profile an while it scrolls their most recent feedback, click on where it says to "View all feedback". You can then see how many good, neutral and bad reviews they've had for the last month, 6 months and 12 months. I often will scroll through many pages of feedback to find the neutral and mainly negative reviews to see why they received this feedback and then determine if I want to do business with them. Also if you find a seller that has sold very few items, look at the ebay id's that left feedback for them. If you see that there are many of the same ebay id leaving feedback, that could be friends of theirs building up their score to give you confidence in buying from them in hopes that you won't look at the id's. Early on when I started using Ebay I got bit by this very thing. They were a fraudulent seller and I never received my item and they closed their account!
Overall Ebay is a great experience that I highly recommend, just do your homework to get the best experience. Happy shopping! :)
Thanks so much to Brian for his customer support!
I am writing this review to thank Brian, a very special person in the Ebay Leadership Team.
After being a faithful and loyal customer of Ebay for almost 20 years, this January I went through a very unpleasant experience.
A very expensive kitchen appliance (Vorwerk Thermomix TM6) I had bought from an Ebay seller 2 months earlier stopped connecting to Internet and I sent it to the manufacturer for repair.
The manufacturer called me immediately to let me know that the appliance was part of a lot of 288 similar items that were stolen whilst in transit in Belgium.
The seller had clearly disappeared with my money and the initial customer service advisors weren't very helpful.
Being outside the 30 day guarantee they advised to raise a claim with the credit card, but then, strangely, Ebay fought against the credit card charge back "tooth and nail" so the credit card dispute ended up being rejected.
I tried every possible avenues with the credit card, including raising a "Section 75" claim, but they were alway able to find a reason/excuse not to pay, advising to resolve the issue directly with Ebay.
In the end of March I called Ebay and explained all the above. The advisor was very nice and put me through to Brian and, for the first time, I had the feeling that someone truly cared about understanding the whole story and helping me to find a resolution.
Since then Brian has taken ownership of the issue asking me to provide documents, evidence etc. and kept me informed every week about the status of the refund.
He was like a real "guardian angel", it rarely happened in my life to find someone that truly cared.
If you should have problems with a purchase on Ebay I seriously hope thst you fill find someone like Brian.
Yesterday I got the final confirmation of the refund and today the money is back on the card.
I cannot thank Brian enough. I hope Ebay will seriously reward him for taking such a dedicated and attentive care of its customers in trouble, going the extra mile to help and support them.
I hope Ebay will also rethink some of its policies. The 30 day guarantee is probably good enough for standard transactions etc. but in the case of stolen goods, for example, there must be more flexibility and care to protect the customers from what is real fraud that unfortunately can take place anywhere nowdays, including Ebay.
I hope this review is not too long and can be of help to other customers in similar trouble.
Brian, thanks so much again for everything, you have been a true support and a guiding star in the middle of all these very unfortunate circumstances/events! I wish you all the very best for your future and career in the company!
You are a living example of how customers should really be treated and cared for!
Disappointing Experience with eBay Seller StuffOregon: A Cautionary Tale for Buyers
I recently had an experience with eBay that left me feeling disappointed and frustrated. I ordered a gift for my niece from a seller called StuffOregon, and was excited to receive it on Monday, July 20th. However, I received an email from the seller later that day, informing me that there had been a mix-up on their end and that they wanted to submit a full refund. I was taken aback by this, as I had not agreed to cancel the sale.
I reached out to StuffOregon via email, explaining that I still wanted the item and was willing to wait for it to be returned to them and re-shipped to me at a later date. I even suggested that they allow me to repurchase the item at the price I had previously paid for it, as a way to make up for the mix-up. However, the seller was unresponsive to my requests and instead refunded my money on PayPal and cancelled my order entirely.
When I contacted them by phone and email to express my dissatisfaction, the representative I spoke to insisted that I had agreed to cancel the sale, even though I had not. They did not seem interested in finding a solution that would work for both of us, and instead directed me back to eBay. The whole interaction left me feeling uneasy and unsure about buying from eBay in the future.
I understand that mistakes happen, but I was disappointed by the way StuffOregon handled this situation. I had specifically chosen to buy from them because of their overwhelmingly positive reviews, but now I am hesitant to do so again. I have never had a problem like this with Amazon, and I hope that eBay can work to improve their customer service in the future.
Overall, I would caution other buyers to be wary of StuffOregon and to make sure they have a clear understanding of a seller's policies before making a purchase on eBay. It's important to communicate clearly and respectfully with sellers, but it's also important for sellers to be responsive and willing to work with their customers to find a solution that works for everyone.
Ebay.com: A Terrible Platform for Sellers - Dishonest Buyers and Unfair Policies
ebay.com is a site that I would not recommend to anyone who wants to sell their used items. It is a terrible platform that is full of dishonest buyers who are always looking to scam sellers. If you are thinking of selling online, I would advise you to look for a different site or method.
The new "buyer protection policy" that ebay.com has implemented has made it easier for dishonest buyers to rob sellers. If a buyer has buyer's remorse, all they have to do is open an "item not as described" case. It doesn't matter if the seller says "no returns or refunds." It doesn't matter if the item is accurately described in the listing and photos. It does not matter if the item in question is being sold as is, for parts, or repair. None of that matters. Ebay.com will ALWAYS side with the buyer, and force the seller to take a refund. Oh, and they usually also force the seller to pay for return shipping!
I have been a member of ebay.com for 10 years and have been selling for just over 4 years. I am your average small seller. I sell vintage items from my own personal collection when I really need some extra money. A few weeks ago, I listed an antique item on ebay.com. This item was from the 1920's, so it did have some wear and tear. I took several close up photos at every different angle to show the damage and imperfections. I pointed out the damage in my listing, even going as far to say - "the damage can be seen in photo number 5." I also stated that I would be more than happy to answer questions, provide more info or photos if any bidder was unsure of the piece. I did get a few questions regarding this item. I was brutally honest in my messages - just as I had been in the listing when describing the damage. I believe it put some buyers off, but I am completely honest about the condition of the things I sell.
A week went by and the item sold for about $70. The winning bidder had asked no questions about the item at all. I sent him a message thanking him for his fast payment and informing him I would mail the item the next day. He did not reply to the message at all.
The buyer received the item within 3 days. That day, he began messaging me. He was very rudely accusing me of selling junk. He was furiously complaining about the EXACT DAMAGE AND IMPERFECTIONS THAT WERE SHOWN IN THE DESCRIPTION AND PHOTOS! He did not read the description OR view photos before impulse bidding.
I refused a refund or a return for buyer's remorse. I have no problem with returns or refunds in general, I have given them in the past for items that were lost in the mail. But this was ridiculous! I don't see why I should have to refund or take a return for something that was completely 100% accurately described just because he couldn't be bothered to read the description or view the photos.
Anyway, after he found out I would not be intimidated by his demands or rude behavior, he threatened me, "followed" me on my Ebay profile and left negative feedback. I reported him to Ebay.com for abusing the buyer protection policy, leaving false feedback, and harassment/threats. NOTHING was done.
The buyer then opens a return case. My Paypal funds are instantly froze. Again, I refuse to refund or return an item for buyer's remorse. I assume the case will be escalated to Ebay, so I begin writing a statement, gathering information, and making a solid case in my favor.
Another week goes by and as expected, the case was escalated to customer support. Well, Ebay.com did NOT ASK ME ANYTHING! They did NOT ask for my side of the story! They did not give me any way to reply to the case or defend myself and instead RULED IN FAVOR OF THE LYING BUYER! The case was escalated, Ebay supposedly "reviewed" it (although, I strongly believe it is done by a computer, not a real person), and the buyer was immediately rewarded with a return, even though I REFUSED SEVERAL TIMES.
If anyone at Ebay had bothered to look at the listing they could clearly see the item was 100% accurately described! Nothing was left out at all. The photos were spot on perfect.
Oh, and this is where it gets really interesting! The item returns to me - BROKEN! Because the *** buyer couldn't be bothered to pack it properly. So I contact ebay, asking for reimbursement since their forced return is the reason for the item being broken. They say I have no proof and they can't take my word for it. REALLY? I have video proof! The item did NOT look like that when it left my home. But oh no, sellers are *** of the earth to ebay. Ebay will never take a seller's word for anything, even when they have proof. If you are a seller, no amount of proof will help you win a case. But if one of their precious angelic buyer's says something is damaged, it is taken as ABSOLUTE TRUTH WITH NO PROOF NEEDED.
(And don't even get me started on their customer support! They will pass you from one person to the next, each saying something different, but none being any help whatsoever. Total waste of time.)
Needless to say, I am completely DONE with this disgusting website/company. I will never sell on Ebay.com ever again. I will not buy anything on this site or even consider browsing it ever again. I will be encouraging everyone I know to stop using it as well. I have had great success with this so far, after telling my experience.
I will now be closing my account and selling any unwanted items on another website (which has much lower fees), locally or donating them to charity.
eBay Review: Pros and Cons of Buying and Selling on the Marketplace
I've been using eBay for a long time, since the late 1990s. I started off as a buyer and then became both a buyer and seller. However, there are a few things that really bother me about eBay.
Firstly, buying from some sellers can be a real pain. Some sellers are not very smart, and some are downright crooks. They don't apply good business practices, and this can lead to a lot of aggravation. For example, my wife recently bid on a small mirror that was priced at under $10. However, the shipping cost was listed as $40, which my wife didn't notice when she placed the bid. The actual cost of shipping the mirror would have been about $5 to $10, but the seller was trying to pull a fast one on my wife. The seller admitted the mistake but demanded that my wife pay the $40 shipping cost. My wife refused, and this led to a lot of back-and-forth communications with the seller. The seller was very unpleasant and showed her true colors as a crook. This is why I would recommend buying from Amazon if possible, as they have more sophisticated sellers for new products. However, if you're buying old stuff, you might have to deal with some crappy sellers on eBay.
Secondly, eBay's complaint contact method has changed. You used to be able to file complaints via email and have a written record of them. Now, you have to use the phone, which means you don't have a written record. This can be a problem, as the eBay representative you speak to might not know what they're doing and might guide you outside of eBay's policy rules.
Thirdly, eBay doesn't seem to do much about bad sellers. They might settle in your favor and refund the cost of a bad product, but the same high-volume, junk-selling crooks will still be on the marketplace. This can lead to a miserable buying experience for you and others in the future. I've noticed the same thing happening on Amazon, too.
Fourthly, I once purchased the same item from both an Amazon and an eBay seller. It turned out that both purchases were from the same seller, and both times I received the wrong item. This seller was a high-volume mover on both Amazon and eBay, and I noticed that Amazon had a much larger number of negative feedback complaints than eBay did. I have to wonder why eBay shows fewer negative feedbacks.
Fifthly, some sellers have very poor packaging, which can lead to damaged items. If you don't return the item, you're out of luck. Items costing less than $100 aren't worth my time to return, so I just eat the cost. I recently received an old printer with virtually no packing material, so I just tossed it in the trash.
Lastly, I had a problem with an inaccurate description of an item in early 2016. The pictures didn't show cosmetic flaws, but the item had micro cracks and a chip that couldn't be repaired. I filed an eBay complaint and told the seller to knock $25 off the purchase price or send me a return shipping label. The seller accepted the $25 refund. Lately, I've been having more problems with inept or dishonest sellers on eBay, so buyers beware!
Overall, I've had mostly good luck with eBay over the years. I've purchased and sold many items, including some that cost four or five figures. However, a few bad deals can really make life miserable.
eBay's Customer Service is a Joke: A Frustrated Review of the Online Marketplace
I gotta say, I'm getting pretty fed up with eBay. I keep seeing all these reviews talking about how great it is, but honestly, their customer service is a joke. It takes them days to respond to even the simplest of issues, and even then, their responses are just a bunch of legal jargon that's impossible to understand. It's like they don't even care about their customers anymore.
My biggest problem with eBay right now is that they're canceling orders if they're not paid for within four days. Four days! What if you're trying to combine orders to save money? They used to give you up to ten days to complete a transaction, but now they're just canceling orders left and right without even giving sellers a chance to communicate with their buyers. It's ridiculous.
And don't even get me started on their customer service. It's a complete joke. You send them an email, and you're lucky if you get a response within a week. And when you do finally get a response, it's just some copy and pasted nonsense that doesn't even address your issue. It's like they don't even read your emails.
I don't know why eBay thinks they can compete with Amazon. Amazon has actual customer service agents that you can talk to 24/7. With eBay, you're lucky if you can even find a phone number to call. And when you do finally get through to someone, they're usually some guy in a third world country who can barely speak English.
It's just frustrating, you know? eBay used to be a great place to buy and sell things, but now it's just a mess. They don't care about their customers, and they keep implementing these stupid rules that just make everything more difficult. I don't know why people keep giving them glowing reviews. They're not even close to being as good as they used to be.
In the end, I guess it's all about value, courtesy, and respect. And eBay just doesn't seem to have any of those things anymore. It's a shame, really. I used to love shopping on eBay, but now I'm starting to think I might be better off going somewhere else.
eBay's Trust Rating Hits All-Time Low: Top Ten Self-Destructive Mistakes
eBay, the online auction giant, is facing a tough time as it continues to lose the trust of its users. Despite coming up with new tricks to manipulate its users, eBay is falling behind in the race to outrun its avalanche of angry users. The site is now experiencing its lowest rating of trust since a series of aftershocks that continue to rock eBay ever since their disastrous facelift of 2008.
For years, eBay hoped the fallout from that self-inflicted gunshot would have blown east and been forgotten, but the hits from those catastrophic decisions just keep on a-comin'. Here are the latest Top Ten on eBay's "Hit Parade of Self-Destructive Mistakes".
Firstly, eBay increased its fees, which drove hundreds of thousands of sellers off the site. Then, they masked all users' ID's from the listings, which made it difficult for buyers and sellers to see who they were dealing with.
Next, eBay compromised the Feedback scoring system. The misleading way it works today is that all of a seller's complaints are automatically laundered from the mathematics after twelve months. That means as far as eBay is concerned, any prolific thief with a despicable track record only needs to wait twelve months and all is forgiven.
Then, eBay removed the bidder's search feature, which kept the growing wave of users who were suspicious of fraudulent activity from tracking and identifying illegal bidding activity.
eBay also launched a nebulous program to phase out all contact between buyers and sellers. The ''Ask a Question" button disappeared from the main body of the listing, and ended up buried toward the bottom of the page, among the fine print and legalese. Buyers can still make contact, but their inquiries (and sellers' replies) are audited and users' emails scrambled.
The Item Number identifying the listing has also disappeared from plain view, and can only be found, literally, by using a high-intensity magnifying glass.
eBay's new "fake opinion link" is also a concern. This button usually appears somewhere around the Feedback pages and asks how you like the new changes. If you fall for this trick, you click on it and up pops a dialog box for comments. But - surprise! - there's no 'submit' button. It's a hoax page that can't be submitted to anyone, and it will remain on your screen until you cancel it, unsent.
The cumulative results of all this finally had a whiplash effect: the loss of all personal communication has turned users into nameless, faceless robots who feel no obligation for truth, honesty or courtesy.
A 19-year eBay employee, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said eBay's eventual goal is to scrub all identifying data about buyers and sellers, leaving only the item being sold and eBay's own profit-driven payment software.
When questioned about increasing complaints of eBay sellers making deliberately false representations about everything from toys, antiques, electronics and auto parts, to sellers mailing a paper picture of an expensive item the bidder believed he was actually buying, the source deflected the question saying only, "Buyers always have the option of returning something if they aren't happy."
As for eBay, it doesn't appear there's any turning back. The site's recent polls reflect the lowest level of seller trust in the site's twenty-year history. eBay has made its own mess, and it's up to them to take care of it.
The Impossible Cost of Selling on Ebay: A Warning to American Sellers
Ebay is a platform that I have used for years to sell my products, but I have come to the conclusion that it is impossible to make any money there due to the ever-increasing cost related to selling. The policies and fees are making it difficult for American sellers to compete with foreign sellers who can sell and ship at a fraction of the cost.
First of all, the selling fees have gone over the top. There are listing fees just for listing the item, and if you have an item that requires a lot of photos, extra photos mean extra cost. If you want your item to be seen, you will need to pay an extra fee to get any real exposure. It can range from an average of around 5% of the final selling fee to as high as 10% or more. If you don't do it, generally, your items are very slow to sell because of so much competition, much of which is foreign.
If you want to list in more than one category, there's an extra cost on regular items of .30 to list your item in more than one category. It may not sound like much, but if you're selling 100 items, and you have multiple quantities, it renews every 30 days or every time you re-list the items. You can elect to use options like "stand out with a bold title in search results" for $6.00, meaning if you want your item highlighted, it costs $6.00 to make it "stand out" and be seen.
Related Paypal - Ebay cost that come AFTER the sale. Once your item sells, the fees are as follows. Paypal takes their cut right off the top, which averages around 2-3% of the entire selling cost, and this also includes 2-3% of the cost of shipping, which is included in the total paid via Paypal when you sell. This is called a "transaction fee." They're charging you 2-3% on every dollar from the sale. Ebay fees include a final valuation fee when it sells, which is around 10% of the selling price. If you promoted the item so that it could be seen, the 'average' cost to "make it stand out" where it can be seen among the millions of other items will be around 5% to do a real good, but I've found that 7-10% is about the only way to really make your item be seen. This means another $1.40 to "promote it" to make it stand out. There is also a final valuation fee on shipping, which means that Ebay is charging you a fee of 10% on the actual cost of what it cost you to ship.
If the customer's state charges sales tax, then Ebay collects that sales tax from the price of your item. You also have to pay sales tax to your state when it sells. If you do not add sales tax, then it costs you. Meaning, if the customer's state is already charging them sales tax, and you're collecting sales tax for your state, then it gets very confusing and costly and makes it nearly impossible for you to sell.
By the time you list your item, promote it so that it moves fast enough to make it worth trying to sell, Paypal, Ebay, the postal service shipping fees, it usually works out to about 35-40% of the total of what Ebay shows as your sales-related cost. You cannot possibly offer free shipping on most items and pay the Ebay-USPS-Fed X shipping prices today. If you add sales tax, the cost of the item that you're selling, price of shipping-related items such as boxes, packaging, tape, etc., you're looking at a minimum of around 35-40%.
For example, if I sell any item for $14.95, I usually make around $10.00 off of it if I'm lucky, and that's only if I charge the customer for shipping cost. That does not include the cost of the item. Most of the time, if you're buying your items and re-shipping, you're realistically not making that much. Under this scenario, you have to ship thousands of items to make a living at it.
The postal service shipping costs are unbelievable now. You start out with a tiny flat rate box at around $5.00 plus or a padded envelope, which costs around $7.55, or maybe a regional box A or B, which can cost anywhere from a low 7-8 dollars to 20.00 dollars or more depending on where you are shipping in the country.
How does Fed X, USPS, and Ebay think that an American seller can make any money any longer? The greater question is, how do these Chinese and Asian sellers sell their items for a fraction of the cost and ship them halfway around the world for less than what it costs an American shipper to ship items at all? These foreign sellers are selling everything from illegal medications, plants and seeds that our government does not allow, pet and human products not approved by the FDA or USDA that Ebay has blocked American sellers from even selling. You can't even sell fish antibiotics or for poultry items in this category because of Ebay guidelines that they claim are USDA guidelines, but thousands of foreign sellers are selling the same items/products for a fraction of the cost of what we could actually sell them for if Ebay allowed us to sell them at all. Most of them aren't even illegal, but Ebay will block you from selling if you list them, while you can find hundreds if not thousands of listings for these same type items from foreign sellers. Many of these "veterinary" items will be expired.
They report you if you list them. Ebay blocks you and refuses to allow you to sell, while hundreds or more sellers from foreign countries peddle their illegal seeds, antibiotics, and non-FDA approved medications and other products all over their site. I can literally go onto their site and buy all sorts of over-the-counter medications that were produced in other countries, that do not have FDA approval both for human beings and animals. You can find tens of thousands of listings for plants and seeds on the site that are considered to be invasive and not approved for sale or distribution into this country, but Ebay has continued to allow them to sell all of these products for decades now.
An American seller doesn't have much of a chance on this site. Between these extraordinary Ebay fees, USPS unbelievable shipping cost, a foreign seller can literally sell in our country for a small fraction of what it cost us to buy, ship, and sell. How can they ship a .99 item 5 thousand miles around the world, sell it for .99 cents with free shipping, and I can't even ship a 2 oz package for less than $7.00? They're using OUR postal services at a fraction of the cost of what it's costing me to ship in my own country. They're making use of OUR postal service for NOTHING. If the situation was reversed and I tried to ship to China, you would be talking XX dollars just to start.
I am writing this because our government needs to start doing its job and start to protect the American sellers and consumers. We can't compete in our own country against the Chinese and foreign sellers because these sites allow foreign sellers to sell items that Ebay and our own government won't allow us to sell, and then to add insult to injury, we can't even ship the item because it costs so much now. The Chinese can ship a 10 lb large box to this country for what it costs me to ship an envelope. The fleecing of America continues. I am no longer an Ebay seller, and I warn other Americans to be cautious.
Review of eBay Managed Payments Customer Support: Frustrating Experience with Delayed Funds Release
I recently had an issue with eBay Managed Payments and it was a frustrating experience. I won an appeal and was told that I would receive my money within 24 hours. However, after waiting for more than 30 hours, I still had not received my funds. I contacted customer support and was transferred to multiple representatives who were unable to resolve my issue.
The first representative, Anirban, manually released the funds for me but I still did not receive them. The second representative, Aideen, told me that I would receive my funds after 4pm that day, but it had already been two days since I won the appeal. The third representative, Sonali, told me that she could not release the funds as they were not held by eBay. Finally, the fourth representative, Mihir, was unable to help me either.
Throughout the chat, I was frustrated with the lack of progress and the constant transfers to different representatives. I even requested the complaints email address as I was planning to escalate the issue. However, the last representative, Meenakshi, was able to review my account and informed me that the funds had already been released and would take 48-72 hours to process.
Overall, my experience with eBay Managed Payments was not a positive one. The constant transfers and lack of progress made me feel like my issue was not being taken seriously. However, I appreciate Meenakshi's efforts to resolve the issue and hope that eBay can improve their customer support in the future.
eBay: A Once-Great Marketplace Now Overrun with Junk and Poor Customer Service
I gotta say, eBay used to be the talk of the town. Everyone was using it to buy and sell stuff, and it was a great way to make some extra cash. But lately, things have gone downhill. eBay seems to have no respect for their users' privacy, and their association with PayPal has only made things worse. They're always overstepping boundaries and making questionable decisions when it comes to their customers' accounts and money. And don't even get me started on their monopolistic and autocratic mentality. They always think they're right, even when they're wrong, and they don't care about the buyer or seller as long as they're making a profit.
In 2015, eBay and PayPal split into separate companies, but it was really just a paper divorce. They still have a "close relationship," which means they're pretty much the same as they always were. And to make matters worse, eBay is now overrun with Chinese-based companies selling junk. I've bought so much garbage on eBay that I've lost count. I mean, I joined eBay to buy some colored contact lenses that I couldn't find anywhere else, and I was thrilled when they arrived. But after that, it was all downhill.
I bought eight phones, and every single one of them had defects. One was listed for the wrong carrier, one had a burned battery, and one was financially locked. And don't even get me started on the nightmare calls I had to make to eBay's customer service. They gave me coupons instead of refunds, and then claimed they had no record of them. It was a mess.
But here's the thing: eBay has the potential to be great. They have all the tools to make it happen. They just need to stop being so greedy and start caring about their customers. I mean, I still love my contact lenses, but I don't think I'll be buying anything else from eBay anytime soon.
Ebay's Terrible Policies and Lack of Consumer Protection
Ebay is a website that has been causing a lot of problems for consumers. They have terrible policies, bad attitudes, and a complete lack of leadership. The company does not properly train their staff, and they show contempt for the consumer. Even their own employees have expressed their disapproval of how the company is being run.
Ebay encourages fraud through its policies and violates consumer law by charging for defective service or service not received. When it comes to buyer protection, they lack the resources and their staff lacks the proper training to effectively research and pass judgment on a claim. There is a complete lack of rational thinking and respect for the consumer, and no understanding of consumer law. All of their decisions in claims are based on inflating their bottom line, in reckless disregard for the consumer's rights or rights of the property holder.
The reviewer has lost hundreds of dollars to ebay and their bungling. They have apologized to the reviewer more than once, but it just doesn't make up for the damage they have inflicted and continue to fail to address. And every time the reviewer has it out with them, they get another apology, another confirmation that they owe them nothing and that they have losses, immediately followed by a demand for money they do not owe them. If their account balance is zero, what are they billing them for?
Every decision they make on any claim has more to do with limiting their own loss and risk, increasing their bottom line, and nothing at all to do with consumer protection or the correct, legal, or fair thing to do. They say one thing and then do the complete opposite.
Ebay tried to debit the reviewer's bank for refund money in a bogus claim- money that had never been paid to them, from a buyer that had already been given an Unpaid-Item-Strike for non-payment. The reviewer was forced to change their bank account information to prevent ebay from debiting them and to sever their contacts with them.
The reviewer had to give up an ebay store where they had been successfully vending with a great reputation, which took them over a decade to build up. They were deprived of their client lists and their e-mail marketing lists and prevented from contacting their audience. They lost property as a result of ebay's errors, and they had no choice but to flee the website, fearing for the further loss of property and money, and they have the nerve to try to bill them for 2 months worth of store subscription fees that occurred AFTER they aided a con-artist and abetted fraud, during which time they left the reviewer waiting for follow-up resolution action they promised them in the first 72 hours and never provided for 2 1/2 months.
And all the reviewer gets now is a promise from ebay that they will not try to debit them for that refund amount again, a worthless apology, and a request to pay them for 2 months of service that they do not want, service they themselves put on their account only because they did not follow up on the case in the first 72 hours as they guaranteed the reviewer they would, and for which their own reps have told them they do not owe. Why do they have to pay for the 2 1/2 months worth of time that they NEGLECTED them, on a fraudulent claim they never should have allowed in the first place?
The reviewer canceled and voided their contract with ebay on the basis of defective service, in accordance with their consumer rights. If a website allows another user to scam you for money they are not due, then tells you they will fix it in "not longer than 72 hours" and then does not act for 2 1/2 months, leaving you wide open to further fraud, that seems like pretty defective service to them. For ebay to then bill them for subscription fees during this time is an egregious violation of consumer trust.
The reviewer has spoken to their reps so many times, and they just do not have the mental capability to understand that any person would be unable to effectively transact anything on their website during that 2 1/2 months. How can you trust any of the transactions if any buyer can simply take money out of your bank without having paid it in the first place, and that will be not only allowed by ebay, but they will actually provide the means and method by which to steal from the seller? The reviewer is not talking about risk of loss or non-delivery here, but rather the original payment- as in, the buyer never paid, and ebay forced them to pay them instead. That is ebay-supported FRAUD.
The reviewer was on the phone with their resolutions department for over 2 hours, while they profusely apologized and explained to them that they simply never realized that anyone would use their new dispute resolution to steal money from sellers. Really? How can you put a dispute resolution system in place and be so stupid as to not foresee it being misused in that fashion? It flies in the face of reason. The mere fact that they allowed this gaping hole in their software and policies in the first place is alarming and should warrant some legal intervention.
At the end of that phone call, and after all the apologies, they invited the reviewer to open a new account and start fresh at a later date. So after their anger and dismay dissipated over the course of a year they did. They figured they would give them another chance
Beware of Fake Meteorites on eBay: Tactics Used by Scammers to Deceive Consumers
y sell fake meteorites on eBay? Here are some of their tactics:
1. Using fake certificates: Some scammers claim that their meteorites are certified by the Meteorological Society, but in reality, these certificates are fake. They use these certificates to deceive consumers into thinking that their meteorites are authentic.
2. Copying web pages: Scammers also copy the web pages of the Meteorological Society and use them in their product introductions. This makes consumers believe that their meteorites are classified by the Meteorological Society, which is not true.
3. Providing no evidence: Some scammers do not provide any evidence to prove that their meteorites are authentic. Instead, they ask consumers to trust their "credit" and buy their meteorites.
4. Refusing to disclose information: Scammers also refuse to disclose enough information about their meteorites, making it difficult for consumers to make informed decisions.
These tactics are successful because eBay does not require these scammers to disclose enough information to consumers. As a result, consumers fall into their traps and are cheated out of their money.
I have personally experienced this when I bought fake meteorites on eBay. I fell into a trap carefully designed by these crooks, and I couldn't seek justice through the law. I have reported eBay to various law enforcement agencies, but none of them have been able to help me.
In conclusion, eBay needs to take responsibility for the sale of fake meteorites on its platform. It should require these scammers to disclose enough information to consumers and take action against those who sell fake meteorites. Consumers also need to be cautious when buying meteorites on eBay and do their research before making a purchase.
Mixed Experience with ebay.de: Positive Overall, but Beware of Individual Sellers and Shipping Costs
The material was thin and the stitching was not done properly. I contacted the seller and they were not helpful at all. They didn't even offer a refund or exchange. I was very frustrated with the whole experience.
However, I have to say that my previous experiences with ebay.de have been positive. I have bought many items from different sellers and most of them have been great. The website is easy to navigate and the search function works well. I also appreciate the buyer protection program that ebay.de offers. It gives me peace of mind knowing that if something goes wrong with my purchase, I have some recourse.
One thing that I don't like about ebay.de is the shipping costs. Some sellers charge exorbitant amounts for shipping, which can make an otherwise good deal not worth it. I wish ebay.de would do more to regulate shipping costs.
Overall, I would recommend ebay.de to others, but with the caveat that they should be careful when buying from individual sellers. Make sure to read the reviews and ask questions before making a purchase. And if something does go wrong, don't hesitate to contact ebay.de customer service for help.
18 Years on ebay.de: From Good to Messy - Not Recommended for Selling Anymore
Been using ebay.de for 18 years now. At first, it was all good and dandy. But now, it's a total mess. I wouldn't suggest selling anything on ebay anymore.
eBay.de: The Best Place for Affordable Video Games and Friendly Vendors
I love shopping for video games on ebay.de because they always have the best prices. I've never had any issues with the site, and the vendors are always super friendly and helpful. One of my favorite features is the ability to review the vendors, which I think is really important. I wish more online shops would do this! Overall, I highly recommend ebay.de for anyone looking to buy video games or anything else online.
Ebay.de: A Marketplace for Thieves and Crooks - My Disappointing Experience as a Buyer
Ebay.de ain't the best place to shop, let me tell ya. They don't seem to give a hoot about us buyers. You see, sellers can make offers and we can "purchase" an item and pay for it, but then a few days later, the order gets canceled. And guess what? Ebay does absolutely nothing about it! It's like they don't even care that we wasted our time and money on something that we thought we were gonna get.
And don't even get me started on the sellers. They know that lawyers won't do anything for amounts under 100 Euros, so they can just scam us all they want. It's like they're all a bunch of crooks or something.
I used to think Ebay was a pretty good place to shop, but now it's just a marketplace for thieves and crooked companies. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, unless you like wasting your time and money.

My disabled account
eBay has disabled my account and, although I have contacted them in every possible way, they will not tell me why. It began when they requested a password reset, which they accepted, but it didn't work. The contacts: 1) via the requested review of my phone conversation with their CSR. 2) Via chat, first with Mahesh, who researched then sent me a link to the How to reset password Web page, then ended the chat. 3) I rerequested chat and got Alyssa, who researched then wrote ##ghost# and ended the chat with no help whatsoever.
Desired outcome: Inform me what's going on. Reactivate my account.
International shipping
Why would eBay have a international shipping option that doesn’t give you a tracking number, it gives you a customs tracking number, that only tracks it to the border or airport to just hand the package off to the recipient’s country? This is not my fault, I chose a shipping on option on eBay’s website and now eBay is saying they’re not liable for this problem! Why doesn’t eBay know what carrier the package was handed off to?
Desired outcome: eBay charged me like a criminal and refunded the buyer and didn’t help me at all, put all the blame on me, when I’m on their website
Permanent suspension without explanation
Our company, Graysville MFG, was operating on eBay for 1 week selling an equine accessory that was the same as many, many other vendors selling on eBay. Then, without explanation, we were permanently suspended. Our follow up conversation with Ebay staff resulted in no explanation or remedy. So now we are proceeding with filing a discrimination complaint with the Indiana Attorney General's Office.
Desired outcome: We want to know what brought about this suspension and we would like to be re-instated as a vendor in good standing at eBay.
Account Permanently Suspended.
I ordered 4 items in the 31st August 2023. 3 of the payments went through, the last payment was stopped as 'something went wrong'. I then received a message that my account has been permanently suspended as my pattern of activities pose a risk. After 5 queries, I received no explanation whatsoever with a reply of 'no further opportunity for appeal on this decision'. This is a personal attack on my integrity and a very sad state of affairs. Clearly, eBay has no idea what Customer Relations means.
It looks like I am fortunate as some of the reviews that I have now read are really scary and I can be considered lucky to have been one-sidedly cut off from any further transactions.
Ebay international standard delivery
I recently used ebay international standard delivery to ship a package to Brazil. The package weight was 1 lb 15 oz. I have sent several identical packages via ebay international standard delivery. Always 1 lb 15 oz. Shipping label for 1 lb 15 oz to Brazil was $28.00. However, I was later billed $66.00. I contacted ebay customer service via phone. For 45...

Subject: ebay Account No.
Dear Jamie:
I am requesting your assistance with an issue on my wife’s ebay account, kapodl_4, whereby the buyer, starbrite2001, has accepted the merchandise and has repeated requested if we received payment from him and we have not because such payment is on hold by ebay. My wife was originally informed by ebay that the reason for hold was for bank account verification which she completed. Now the story has changed that the reason is for the purchase guarantee; however, the buyer has received the boots, providing positive feedback, and moreover, has resold the boots. We are requesting that you release the funds or assist us we receiving the boots back as a Poshmark buyer is willing to pay a substantially higher price.
Please advise.

seller not shipping product I ordered.
On April 09, 2023 I ordered a complete Exhaust system from seller sat1966. the latest date that I would receive the order was June 09,2023. I emailed the seller on June 12 &14 requesting when I would receive the order. The seller sat1966 has not replied to my emails. June 15, 2023 a request ID [protected] was started. the seller responded on June 20, 2023 and June 22,2023 and said the order will be shipped the following week. On June 30 the shipping label was created and on July 10 I emailed the seller and asked when the order was going to be shipped. I tried to track the order on the UPS site and as of July 18,2023 they only show the label was created. On July 15,2023 eBay closed the request I have not been able to contact the seller by phone or by email Because of the lack of cooperation from the seller I would like a full refund of the order $1315.44
International Fee
I sold an item on eBay on July 14, 2023. The person I sold it to lives in Atlanta, but originally registered in South Korea. Even though the person lives now in the US and the item was shipped to Atlanta, eBay charged me an "International Fee." When I spoke with an eBay representative, she said even though he now lives in Atlanta, the fee is based on where you originally registered. She also said that the buyer would have to create a whole new eBay account for this fee not to be levied again. This makes no sense at all since the item was shipped to Atlanta (not Korea) and I'm sure the gentleman who bought my item has no idea that he would have to create a brand new account registered in the US.
I also noticed that eBay applied the "Final Value Fee" to include the sales tax the buyer needs to pay. So, now I have to pay a % to eBay based on the sales tax amount. I'm sure glad the buyer doesn't live in NYC!
Desired outcome: Refund my $15.27 International Fee.
Blackview phone
Hi There I am writing to you to because I bought my 3rd Phone from the company advertised on Ebay, called Blackview based in China. I bought a Blackview BV8800 from them on the 9th of November 2022 for £271.99 order number [protected]. I bought one of their phones about 6 years ago which was great until I dropped it from a height and it smashed the screen, it still worked but decided to update it I bought the latest version of my original phone which I took on holiday and tried to use it filming underwater as they claim its waterproof for 30 minutes down to 1.5m and it instantly stopped working. When I returned I contacted them and told me it was not to be used in saltwater, fair enough I thought so I bought the one above which is supposed to be waterproof to the same level as above. I was walking my dogs beside a river and bent over and my pocket in my jacket got water in it and the phone stopped working again, so once again I contacted them and they gave me 3 options, 1 was to send it back to China to be repaired which would take up to 3 months, option 2 was return it to a UK warehouse for a 70% of the total refund and option 3 was to give me 40% off a replacement phone.
The reason I am contacting yourselves is the phone has a 1 year warranty so surely I am due a replacement phone or a full refund as I am well within the 1 year warranty.
I am asking for your advise on this matter as you have this company advertising on your site

Incorrect Item received seller denies sending
I ordered a Hot Wheels model car from a buyer in USA on 6 June 2023
They used the expensive E-bay's Global Shipping Programme to be trusted and fast
I received on 23r June a 12Inc Vinyl Jazz LP Record?
I complained with seller and they denied sending it
I claimed a refund from PayPal on 23rd
On 3 July they informed me they will give refund if I return the wrong stuff at "my" cost
Honestly I cannot believe the E-bay doesn't give a damn about Buyers
It cannot get more unfair expecting "me" to pay for a mix-up made by Global Shipping
I still have nothing and looks like seller has my money

I do not want the item did not order it and cannot use it!
I claimed a refund from Paypal which they promised if I return the item at "MY" cost?
It was not my fault 90% of the claim is shipping cost so what the x

Seller of ben nye sealer
I bought a 16 Oz bottle the seller only sent an 8 oz bottle. I contacted the seller they apologized and said they would send the other 8 oz bottle right out.
Never got it and seller is not responding
I contacted ebay opened a case. Case was closed as eBay said it was delivered.
The item was delivered only have of what I paid for. But eBay didn’t read that part of my complaint. Contacted again was told they would start a return, but I wouldn’t have to actually return the bottle. It was to get the sellers attention. I have been using so I could not return. I stated that to eBay they say I closed the case. Now I’m out the money I paid per eBay. As I can only open 1 case.
The photo is of what was sent a 8oz bottle.
Desired outcome: A refund

Buyer's Hostility Over Shipping Costs Made Me Lose Faith in Humanity
I recently had an experience selling an item on eBay and unfortunately, it did not go as planned. I listed an item with free shipping and it sold for $21.00. However, I live in Pennsylvania and the buyer lives in Oregon, making shipping costs quite expensive. After realizing that it would cost almost $30.00 to ship the item, I knew I couldn't afford to lose money on the sale. You see, I'm trying to make money to pay for my 11-month-old daughter's upcoming surgery. It's a very stressful time for me and my family, and I'm doing everything I can to make ends meet.
I decided to cancel the sale and apologize to the buyer. I know I should have priced out shipping beforehand, but I was very emotional at the time and not thinking clearly. To make matters worse, my grandmother had just passed away over the weekend and her funeral was scheduled for the same week that I would have needed to ship the item. It was just too much for me to handle.
Unfortunately, the buyer was not understanding and was quite rude and hostile towards me. They didn't seem to care about my situation and said that "none of that matters to me". It was a very hurtful experience and made me lose faith in humanity. I'm sharing our conversation here so that others can see what I went through.
When I tried to cancel the order, the only reason available was "something wrong with address", which is what the buyer referred to in their reply. I know I made a mistake, but I didn't deserve to be treated so poorly. I've been crying all day over their words and it's been a very difficult time for me.
I've been selling on eBay since 2005 and this is the first time I've ever had to cancel a sale. I'm not trying to scam anyone or rip anyone off. I'm just a regular person trying to make some extra money to pay for my daughter's surgery. I understand that I made a mistake and I'm willing to take responsibility for it. I just wish the buyer had been more understanding and compassionate.
In conclusion, I may be done selling on eBay after this experience. It's just too stressful and I don't need any more negativity in my life right now. I hope that others can learn from my mistake and be more careful when listing items for sale. Thank you for reading and God bless.
eBay's Unfair Policies: A Seller's Nightmare
Hey guys, I just wanted to share my experience with eBay. Let me tell you, it's not a good one. If you're a seller, be prepared to get screwed over. I recently lost both my item and my money, and it's not the first time it's happened. The worst part is that buyers are using eBay to strong-arm sellers into giving them money and items. It's happening more and more frequently, and eBay seems to be on the buyer's side every time. They don't care about the seller at all.
I sold an item on eBay and was completely honest about its condition. I had repaired it, but it was no longer the same as its mate. I listed it for 30% less than it would have gone for if it was fixed, to give the buyer a good deal. I shipped it out right away and didn't hear anything from the buyer for a month. Then, he contacted me and said the item was misrepresented and was the same as its mate. I showed him the description and he accused me of trickery and scamming him. He opened a dispute with eBay, and they froze my account.
Once a buyer opens a dispute, eBay takes the funds from your account. It's a conflict of interest because eBay owns PayPal. They're the prosecutor, judge, and jury, and they always side with the buyer. In my case, the buyer still didn't want to read the description, so I issued a refund to save time. I couldn't deal with an illiterate person and my work schedule. But once eBay is involved, they freeze your account and you're at their mercy.
After I refunded the buyer, eBay closed the case without demanding that he return the item. They don't enforce that you get your product back, but they'll ruin you if you don't give a refund. I called eBay and they were no help. They basically told me tough luck. They said if the buyer doesn't want to ship the item back, there's nothing they can do. eBay took away the seller's ability to leave bad feedback for the buyer, so we can't warn other sellers about bad buyers and scams like this. It's called strong-arming, and eBay has full control because they own both eBay and PayPal.
Because of eBay's bad business practices and dysfunctional policies, I'm deleting my account. I've had it for 15 years, but I can't afford to give refunds and my product away. eBay takes away the seller's right to demand the item be returned before issuing a refund, but they don't enforce the buyer to return the item. It's like a bully in a schoolyard. I'm sure there are other auction sites out there, like Ubid or something. eBay used to be awesome, but they've seriously gone down the toilet in recent years.
I am a buyer and have three times been ripped off on EBay and that is not my experience. My experience is that they try to get out if being responsible for anything while still being middleman.
eBay's Lack of Customer Support and Buyer Protection
I really like eBay, but lately I've had some major issues that have made me question whether this company is truly reliable and trustworthy when it comes to helping its customers. One of the biggest problems I've encountered is that if you want to sell on eBay, you have to use PayPal, which can be a hassle, especially if you're new to it. Even if you do everything right, your money can still be put on hold until the buyer leaves feedback or the courier verifies delivery. Then, you have to contact the buyer and ask for positive feedback, which not everyone is willing to do. Even after that, eBay doesn't automatically release your funds - you have to call them and go through a whole process, which can take up to 24 hours. I did this, but I was still waiting for my money 72 hours later. When I called eBay again, they told me that PayPal was holding up the release and that I needed to call them. When I called PayPal, they said that eBay had to release the funds first, and that they couldn't just take my word for it. I was really frustrated at this point, and I asked why eBay couldn't just call PayPal for me and say that the funds had been released. The eBay representative told me that they weren't allowed to do that, and that I had to do it myself. It took another two days for my money to become available, and I was really angry about the whole situation.
Another issue I had was when I bought an Adidas tracksuit on eBay. The title and the brand were both marked as Adidas, and I paid 23 pounds, including postage. When the tracksuit arrived, it turned out to be fake. I called eBay, and they gave me some options for returning it, but none of them were very helpful. I don't have a computer or a printer, so I couldn't print out the return label. I also don't have a library nearby, and when I asked the post office to help me, they said they couldn't do it. I was told that I would have to pay for the postage myself, even though I was the one who had bought a fake item from eBay. I was really disappointed with the lack of buyer protection, and I told the eBay representative that the seller didn't have great English and that I was having trouble communicating with them. However, there was still nothing they could do. I opened a return, but it took me the whole day to try and sort it out, and in the end, I lost my money.
Overall, I'm really disappointed with how eBay runs its business. It seems like they set up their customers to fail, whether they're buying or selling. For example, if the postman delivers your parcel to the wrong address and your neighbors don't tell you, you're out of luck, and the seller isn't liable to refund you or send you a new item. It's frustrating that eBay doesn't seem to care about its customers, and that they make it so difficult to get help when you need it. I feel like I would get better customer service from a robot than from a real person at eBay. I've been a loyal customer since 2009, but I'm really considering leaving a bad review because of all the problems I've had.
One final issue I had with eBay was when my mother passed away. I didn't post a parcel, and as a result, I received one negative feedback, which put me below the seller's standard. Even though I had 10 positive feedbacks, eBay said that I hadn't done enough. I explained to them about my mother's passing, but they didn't seem to care. They told me that I needed to keep on top of my selling by contacting buyers and posting items, even during a difficult time like a funeral. I was really shocked by their lack of empathy and understanding, and I felt like they were just following their rules and policies without any regard for my situation. Overall, I'm really disappointed with eBay, and I'm not sure if I'll continue to use their services in the future.
Ebay Review: Beware of High Fees and Unfair Policies for Sellers
If you're looking for a place to buy and sell items, Ebay might seem like a good option at first. But let me tell you, it's not all sunshine and rainbows. The people running Ebay seem to think that the buyers are the only ones that matter. They don't seem to realize that it takes both buyers and sellers to make their platform work. If you're a seller, you're in for a rough ride. Ebay will charge you fees left and right. You'll have to pay 10% of the sale price, plus listing fees, plus 10% of the shipping cost. And if you use Paypal, they'll take another 4%. That's a lot of money to lose just for using their platform.
But the fees aren't the only problem. If a buyer decides they don't want your item for any reason, you're stuck paying for the return shipping. Even if you didn't do anything wrong, even if the item is exactly as described, you're still on the hook for the shipping costs. And if you don't provide a return label, Ebay will do it for you and charge you for it. It's like they're punishing you for something that's not your fault.
And don't even get me started on the feedback system. As a seller, you can't leave negative feedback for a buyer, no matter how bad they are. But if a buyer decides they don't like you, they can leave negative feedback and hurt your reputation. And if your feedback score falls too low, you won't be able to sell anymore. It's like Ebay is punishing you for something that's not your fault.
But wait, there's more! If you're trying to sell a car, it will cost you $125 just to list it. And if it doesn't sell, tough luck, you're out of luck. And if a buyer decides they don't want it after all, you're still on the hook for the return shipping. It's like Ebay is trying to bleed you dry.
And don't think that just because you don't offer returns, you're safe. All a buyer has to do is claim that the item wasn't as described, and you're stuck paying for the return shipping. Even if you have pictures and descriptions that prove otherwise, Ebay will side with the buyer and make you pay. It's like they don't care about the truth, they just want to make money.
So if you're thinking about using Ebay, think again. It's not worth the hassle and the fees. There are other platforms out there that treat their sellers better. Don't let Ebay take advantage of you.
