The Ebay Company scams sellers more than sellers scam buyers. I am fortunate that I caught this early on. Ebay was not listing items that I paid to have listed. Could not find certain items at all. Ebay would not resolve the issue and completely ignored me. My 7 day auctions were never shown to the public at all yet I had to pay for them. Also, I had...

eBay new feedback system sucks

eBay's new feedback system totally sucks. this give buyers all the willpower to destroy someone's positive feedback that they work so hard on getting. i had a buyer (edsbonebed) win an auction and then decide he didn't want it. he emailed me with a question about the item. I then answered his question and posted it in my item description for others to read as well.

After the auction ended, i sent him his invoice. he emailed saying that since the frame was new and not antique, he decided that he didn't want it and forgot to cancel his sniping bid and that he would not be purchasing the item. since i am the seller, i could only leave positive feedback for him, but i spoke my mind on it.

He, in turn, left me negative feedback saying that i had deceived him. i did not deceive him in any way whatsoever. he then follows up on his feedback that i have him confused with someone else. highly doubtful. i emailed ebay to try to remove his negative feedback, but i doubt it does me any good.

This new feedback system does nothing good for the seller. i saw nothing wrong with the old way.

I am just about ready to quit selling on ebay.

He is fairly new to ebay and i've been on there for 4 years. people like him should not be allowed to leave feedback at all.

He is the one who entered into a legal binding contract and then decided he didn't want the item. but, of course, I can't leave negative feedback for him.

He is such a liar.

I am still trying to get ebay to remove his negative feedback.

I have filed an unpaid item dispute and he still didn't pay, so at least i gave him an unpaid item strike, til ebay decides to remove it since he is a buyer.

I don't know what is wrong with ebay these days. i use to love selling on ebay and now i'm trying to figure out where else to go.

Not only does the new feedback method suck for the seller, but there is no support for the seller. They say that the reason that they changed the feedback is so that buyers can leave true feedback and not fear a seller's retaliation. The problem with it is that a buyer can do anything and not have to worry about getting hammered for it. I sold a broken plasma HDTV for $5.50 US with shipping of $125.00 US due to the size and weight of the item. I stated in my description that it was broken and was selling it for parts or repair. I also stated that I would not be held responsible for damage during shipping because it was already broken. The buyer paid after 2 weeks of emailing and waiting, then after 2 more weeks I recieved the TV back from UPS. The buyer had refused the package due to damage during shipping (tracking showed everything). He then filed a complaint with Paypal stating that he never received the item and was demanding a refund. I followed up with all the purchase and tracking information to show that he did in fact receive the item and refused it. After repeated requests from Paypal to refund his money, I fanally got through to someone at paypal to find out what I could do about this. The Rep. at Paypal told me that since he refused the item then he does not physically have the item in possesion and is due a full refund. I explained to her thet the sale contract through Ebay stated that I was not responsible for damage during shipping and she told me that IT DID NOT MATTER. Once a buyer files a complaint with Paypal, all pervious contracts are null and void. I asked her "I could buy over a Million dollars worth of merchandice from $.01 to $20, 000.00 or more and as long as I refuse the item I am due a full refund?" She told me YES, as long as you do not take possesion of the item, you are due a full refund. I asked her, "On what planet does that make any sence?" I also told her that this was the third item I had ever sold on Ebay and that I may sell again, but I will guarantee her that I would never deal with Paypal in a sale again. I am tired of sites that cater to buyers. When will ther be someone who will back up the seller. Ebay and Paypal, great idea, poor service.

eBay aid and abet shill bidding

eBay introduces absolute anonymity for (shill) bidders. In Australia, the UK, Ireland and the Philippines, eBay has obscured auction bidding to the point that genuine bidders have got absolutely no chance of detecting and thereby protecting themselves from “shill” bidding (a criminal offense in most civilized countries) by unethical vendors.

Notwithstanding eBay’s statements to the contrary, this application of absolute anonymity (ie, Bidder 1, Bidder 2, etc) by eBay on these sites serves absolutely no purpose other than to deceive consumers by making even any otherwise blatantly obvious shill bidding undetectable; and the same criticism has always been applicable to eBay’s other shill bidders’ facility, “User ID kept private”.

My concern then is not so much with the effectively bidder-specific anonymity (“a***b (n)”) now in use in the US and elsewhere (and which still allows genuine bidders some opportunity to watch for suspicious patterns of bidding on a seller's other auctions) but with the absolute anonymity (“Bidder N”) in use in Australia, the UK, Ireland and the Philippines.

Again, notwithstanding eBay’s various pronouncements about shill bidding being banned on eBay, eBay is now, on these sites, effectively (and now knowingly) “aiding and abetting” such shill bidders to defraud consumers...

For those of you with a longer attention span, a lengthy critical analysis of this matter appears at:
http://www.auctionbytes.com/forum/phpBB/viewtopic.php?p=6498345#6498345. I apologize in advance for the length of this linked “rant”. Needless to say eBay would not tolerate it on their discussion forums and I have spent time on eBay’s “naughty chair” for posting links to it.

If you are an unethical shill-bidding seller or a buyer who is not concerned that on the above-mentioned national sites eBay is effectively “aiding and abetting” such shill-bidding sellers to cheat you, read no further.

Yes this is a tactic by eBay to maximise the amount of fees they collect. Higher priced auctions = more fees. If the auctions were ended due to shill bidding, they would be losing out on fee revenue.

I don't use eBay anymore.

eBay not for me any more

Ebay is a scam, they suspended my account saying that my account was linked to another suspended user.

I set an Ebay account to help support my terminally ill wife and here bills. I take care of her full time and can not work.

Not only did they suspend my account, but they also to our lively hood. The only income we had besides my wife’s low SSI.

I had a 100% positive feed back, plus mant repeat buyers.

I would love to start a class action. I aready file a complaint with the attorney general office.

I also had a credit of $18.00. Still have not got that back.

If you are a Power Seller, then Ebay will grant you the world, but if you are a small time business like me you get nothing but hardship.

My account just got permanently suspended. Three months ago, they sent me a email stating my grade for sending merchandise was not up to their standards. The maximum you could have was 3, and they state I had a 4. So I called them and they said just send items quickly and it should be removed. For the next two months, I mailed items with about a 48 hour delivery time from receipt of money, and maybe 15% within 3 days. Each month when I contacted them, they said yes you improved and it should be removed. Then each time within a couple of days, I get an email stating my account rating got worse! Two months later, I called to ask again, was told my rating was up to a 6?, prior month was a 4, and even feedback was positive and shipped everything within 3 days. Reps. kept saying they don't understand why it keeps going up. The following day, I received another email that my rating went up to 7 now! The day I called them it was a 6! Everytime I called to inquire its like they retaliate. Then told to contact the resolve center and did, and explain. The following day, I received an email that I am not PERMANENTLY removed from Ebay! I am going to call again.. but it appears to a retaliatory system. Someone keeps raising my score each month for no reason, and not one negative comment! Now where do I sell! So sick of them on top of them withholding my money until delivery and not paying interest! Isn't that against the law!?

I too was suspended from ebay after selling on their site for 9-years. They claimed my selling rating was not up to their standards after all these years at 95.4. They really don't care about their SELLERS once they use us for their EXPENSIVE FEES over the years. So everyone out there thinking about selling on ebay, DON'T DO IT. They are getting very COCKY and WAY OVERBOARD with their STUPID RULES and REGULATIONS. Like someone said above in their complaint, "ebay will be a thing of the PAST SOON for treating their SELLERS and BUYERS like crap". We all NEED to STOP BUYING & SELLING on this EBAY site. We NEED to HELP SUPPORT other Newer site such as EBID or AUCTION.COM grow and WIPE-OUT ebay SLOWLY!

First off all of you complaining are not telling the full story. Your listing can be removed for just being in the wrong category! Why do you not try to work this out with PayPal and eBay? Everyone has a boo hoo story but it can be fixed if you are not lazy and make a phone call and be nice to the representatives that you talk to cause they did not do this to you. The most common complaints all have to do with people like all of you who do not fully read the user agreement! Also for the last comment take a look at stocks and business profiles before you enlighten us with your knowledge about a large companies financials. What you said is laughable. Do you know that 75% of the time when you are selling jewelry or phones on Amazon that the transaction is fraudulent. Please check your info, without checking your info beforehand you have the tendency to sound like an idiot.

I signed up to ebay about a month ago, and was subject to and experienced the Ebay/Paypal Monopoly first hand. I did not want to use Paypal to accept payments as I already have my own merchant account with First Data and they are half the price of Paypal. When listing my first item, I scrolled to the part where it asked how I would like to be paid. I un-checked Paypal, and checked credit card. On the next screen it said that in order to accept credit cards I had to fax a copy of my merchant account invoice to them to prove to them that I can support this method of payment. I faxed them the necessary documents, and the games began. 2 days went by and no message from them about what was going on. Then I called them and was asked why I did not want to use paypal, and that it is the preferred payment of ebay. I explained to them my situation, and they said they would look into the situation, and they would get back to my via email. I waited another 2 days, and nothing. I called them again, and they brought me to the listing page, and they walked me through and told me to click Paypal for payments accepted, and I told them I did not want to accept Paypal, and they were dumbfounded and did not know what to do. They knew nothing about how to integrate my merchant account. They told me I have to wait for T&S to contact me. The next morning I called them again, and was once again told to just use Paypal and recieved a pitch on how they were safe and secure. I asked to speak to a manager, and they told me the manager was not available. I then called again and they finally got to the bottom of things. I listed a couple of items, and after the first one ended, the buyer told me there was no way for him to pay. I called ebay again and they told me there was a "Pay Now" button in the email that was automatically sent to them after the auction ended. The buyer told me there was nothing there. I got this same response from every winning bidder that day. I called ebay and they once again told me that I should accept Paypal for payments until they get the situation fixed. I told them I would not pay for the listing fees so far and they told me I have to pay them, and that it is like listing an ad in the paper and the listing fees are non-refundable. The next day they told me that they fixed the problem, and then I listed a couple items, and everything seemed to be good, until the first auction was down to the last minute. The account was blocked by Paypal, and I was informed that they needed more information on my Paypal account in order for the account suspension to be lifted. I called ebay and they told me the block was from Paypal. I called Paypal and they asked for my SS# and receipts for the items I was selling. I told them I never opened a Paypal account, and they told me regardless, they would still need the information in order to lift the suspension, and until then, the account would remain blocked. I called Ebay and they told me there was in fact a Paypal account linked to my ebay account and that there was nothing they could do. Now, I NEVER opened a Paypal account nor did I link it to my ebay account. To me, this is yet another shady desperate attempt by Ebay to force new members that do not know any better to use Paypal to accept Paypal so they can make money from every angle. When I call them and tell them this whole scenario, they ask me if there is anything they can help me with, otherwise the phone call will be disconnected. They no longer respond to my email regarding this and they told me that if I keep contacting them through ebay live chat that they would bring up charges for Harassment. What a way to run a company. I also notice that when you post ANY negative comments about ebay that are valid in the ebay forums, the comments are removed and you are banned from posting in their forums. They are trying to cover up anything negative about their company, but truth be told..., check out Ebay and Paypal on the Better Business Bureau and see all the complaints they have since January. There are well over 10, 000 of them. Ebay soon will be a thing of the past and they will continue to lose thousands of members a week to Amazon, just like me.

ebay checkout changed my shipping address to another state.mean while i started getting emails from another angry ebayer claiming i stole his property, unrelated.paypals keven, claims somebody on my end changed my paypal shipping address while i was logged in.bs.then why are the ebay invoices changed too?not to mention ebays new checkout, has a link to direct you back to ebay, right?well, you get redirected but are still logged in to paypal for up to 10 minutes!WTF?they missed that one, never had time to cover it up.so i looked around the net, ebay and paypal admitted this happens, why don't they just pay me my money back instead of trying to cover it up?this is the kind of bs that is going to get the banking industry involved.we all have to file with consumer affairs.
this will stop them from bleeding sums of money from us and leaving us out to dry.i honestly though i was hacked, took out a police report on the man in another state.paypal never banked on my internet skills, i found the man and contacted him.my state would have extradited him, and was didn't do anything.i explained all this to my bank, they will get my money back and help me file with the federal gov, in an effort we should all make to force paypal to be regulated as the bank they are and stop defrauding us!

PayPal Glitch Sends eBay Packages to Wrong Buyers
By Ina Steiner
AuctionBytes.com

A spokesperson has confirmed that a "PayPal database issue" has caused a problem in a small percentage of eBay transactions that mixes up ship-to addresses. A few reports began surfacing late last week that eBay sellers were sending packages to the wrong users due to an apparent glitch. PowerSeller Evan Prytherch said he bought a toner cartridge from another eBay seller using Buy It Now and using eBay's PayPal payment service. He said he was surprised to receive a call from a person he had formerly sold something to who had received his package in error. "It's a potentially very, very serious PayPal issue with a lot of very nasty ramifications, " Prytherch said, adding that he wouldn't have believed if it had not just happened to him.

PayPal spokesperson Sara Gorman said the shipping team has been working on the problem over the last day or so. She said there would be no announcement made to the eBay System Announcement board because it affected such a small percentage of sellers. "We are going to work with the affected users individually." Gorman was referring to users who contacted PayPal or posted on the PayPal board. She could not say whether PayPal would actually send an email to every user affected by the problem.

One buyer affected was Ann Farmer, who had filed a class-action lawsuit against eBay in April (http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y07/m05/i04/s02). She told AuctionBytes late last week that her daughter had received packages at her home in another town that were supposed to go to Farmer. And when she subsequently tried to pay for several additional eBay purchases, her daughter's address showed as the ship-to address, and she was unable to change it.

On September 3rd, a user posting on eBay's PayPal discussion board under the User ID mad_monkey_inc wrote, "Was going through my recent payment transactions and noticed that the last 4 had a ship to address that was not mine. The weirdest part is that the new address is confirmed. I have talked to Paypal service center and they are currently working on the problem, but they claimed the new address was being forwarded to them by ebay." Another user responded to the thread citing the same problem (http://forums.ebay.com/db2/thread.jspa?threadID=1000553683).

When asked if there was a pattern to the glitch, Gorman said she did not know. PayPal is focused on getting the issue fixed, she said.

Asked whether sellers who might take a hit in their Feedback ratings could get resulting neutrals and negatives removed, Gorman said PayPal would work with eBay on that and "do whatever we can to work with users individually."

well, i lost all three of my claims, despite overwhelming proof there is a billing/invoice problem.my bank will recover my money, and i will file more complaints into paypal.
paypal is a bank, and must be regulated as such, period.in time, they will get what they deserve, and justice will prevail, charges will be filed, and a multitude of claims will be settled.paypal will have to close in the end, then we can begin to use other, regulated payment options again.
bank of america's legal dept.seemed very interested in my claim, possibly due to my diligence in proving my case.perhaps they will take paypal from ebay when the ball drops!
it will happen, always does, many money drunk arrogant people are repeating the mistakes of the great depression, and paypal will be held to bear.

now, mark my words, paypal will send me an email stating contact ebay.no matter, if you pay using a credit card or bank visa, like i do, you can get your money back.fraud is fraud.that is why paypal gives you all kind of chances to "not" use your other payment methods, because it takes it out of their hands.in other words, when it is your random turn to get defrauded by them, you can file with your bank and get your money back, paypal loses that money and a few fees too!

this is an attempt to pit us against each other, to blame each other until we burn out.it is like, johnny threw the stone that broke the window, then points at the other guys and says he didn't do it.

I cannot tell you how many times I have heard about this happening.
The truth is, ebaY is falling. They are trying to do whatever they can to get their head above water, so they suspend accounts on users they think might cause trouble. In addition to that, they are hiking up their fees, and they make it nearly impossible to find out what you are really paying them once all is said and done.
I feel your pain as your sales were apart of your income and really meaning something to you.
I caught wind of a company opening on Nov 1st '08... 4sale4now.com They are an e-commerce company setting out to revolutionize online selling and buying. There is no auction, no bidding, but their process works. Having the inside scoop I know they have a list of sellers, manufactuers and former power sellers alike who are lined up to upload their products in October to have them ready for sale on their giant kick off on Nov. 1.
Let me know if you are interested and I can provide you with more information. This could be your perfect solution to start selling again and getting some income in to take care of your wife, and its really risk free. No one can afford to take a gamble these days!

I am now a single mum after my husband left our 18 year marriage. We have a 9 year old son with a Chronic Medical Condition which requires me to work from home to take care of him. I had worked out of home for 20 years prior to this. My Income is very minimal and the fact that my ex-husband left us with a Mortgage, Car loan and full cost of running the family home as well as emptied all bank accounts, I need every scent that I earn from my registered part-time business. I started selling on ebay about a year ago. I have 100% positive feedback with a 5 star rating and only operate in a professional manner. All of a sudden I started to notice that my listings were being cancelled and an email from ebay stating that due to trust & safety issues restictions had been put on my account. I first emailed ebay and I got an email that said due to trust & safety... please contact us in 90 days and we will review your account then. I then contacted live support and they said you need to contact trust & safety and they will be able to explain why this has happened as live support do not have access to this information. I then emailed trust & safety again politely asking for a reason why this has happened and guess what I got the same guy with the same message- no explanation at all. I then went back to live support and they said the same cant help. I have lost over $500 a month in sales since they did this. IS EBAY GOING TO PAY MY MORTGAGE & BILLS SO THAT MY SON & I DONT END UP ON THE STREET. I OPERATE A LEGITIMATE BUSINESS AND I AM TOTALLY DISGUSTED WITH THEM OVER THIS. I have since started my own website and have kept the ebay store going to see what happens when the 90 days are up.
I then had to contact customer support after a purchase that I made. The seller advertised clothing in one listing but with diff sizes available. I won, paid straight away and sent a message to the seller for my size. 2 days later the clothing arrived in x-large but I had requested medium. When I contacted this seller she said we did not hear from you so if that happens we feel that we can send any size? They were quick to send though in 2 days. I contacted ebay and they said that they had not violated any ebay rules so I had to pay for the postage again as I had to return the item for the correct size. Guess What? She sent me the right size but this time the wrong colour. Buy this time it was one month since the clothing was purchased. When I contacted the seller she said I dont have one in the colour that you bid on so I thought this colour would be nice for you! If you try on I am sure you will like. I was furious and had a look in her store and guess what she had a listing with the colour that I had originally paid for. When I contacted her back her reply was - to be frank I dont want the extra postage expense so accept this colour please. Ebay still said that she had not broken any listing violations. I ended up with clothing that I did not want and she got away with it... With my business, I have done nothing wrong and as mentioned 100% positive feedback and yet they restict my account. Why is ebay letting these unprofessional sellers get away with murder and yet the legimate ones are being penalised for no reason. To this day I still dont know why my listings have been affected, I have not changed anthing for over a year now... This is bad business and ebay will suffer in the end...

This is in response to Bianca's post. Ebay has not and will not respond to my emails. The department that canceled my listing does not communicate with the customers via phone, only by email. Yes, I've tried to contact them. Ebay just doesn't care.

I've also had a very negative experience with ebay. Unfortunately, I am still an ebay member.
Ebay really has poor customer service. Here are some examples that I had to deal with:

1. Ebay gave me an unpaid item strike because the seller claimed that I never paid. I had paid. The seller never sent the item. He refunded the money and then filed an unpaid item dispute. I had responded to the dispute with what had happened. What did Ebay do? They totally ignored my reply. They still gave me an unpaid item strike.

2. Ebay cancelled 2 of my listings. They sent me an email claiming that I had violated their listing policy. The 1st email did not clearly explain what I did wrong. It only gave links to their policies and some vague examples of why a listing could be canceled by ebay. When Ebay cancelled my 2nd listing, it stated that I had included information in the listing that was misleading.
I did a search for the same information that was in my listing in Video Games category and I came up with 500+ results.

Ebay's business practices are unfair. I was singled out for some reason. I don't know why.

Yes, I am definitely interested in class action lawsuit against ebay.

Andrew
P.S. Please let me know how to contact the Attorney General. Thanks.

eBay ioffer is better than ebay

In fact, there is no other website that is worse than ebay!

At least they treat people like human beings, unlike ebay, who don't care about people. Period.

ebay is changing it's business model and eliminating all smaller sellers in favour of pre-selected, ebay-approved, super-sellers.

There is a great essay out by Rick Bilderberg, explaining how ebay is randomly suspending sellers, and, of course, keeping the positive seller's fees, which is a crime. Period.

It can be freely downloaded at the Internet Archive:

Thank you for posting the link to Rick Bilderbergs' essay:

http://www.archive.org/details/ebay666

Highly informative and right to the point. Anyone that has used (or has been abused by) eBay/PayPal in the past, or is planning on doing any type of business with them in the future, I would highly recommend going to the above link to read Mr. Bilderbergs' work.

eBay overcharged for sale

I put my car up for sale. It was in bad shape so was being sold 'as is'. I sold the car for $200. Then ebay had the effrontery to charge me about $40., which I expected and another $90. for...who knows what. Of course my complaint landed on deaf ears. My argument that the car only sold for $200. did not seem to warrant a reply...bottom line, I got about $60. for the car. NEVER AGAIN!...It did not seem to cut any ice with them that their charge was unreasonable. As long as they got their blood money, that's all that counted.

eBay Failure to deliver

Was contacted by Mr Anton Simson, Lures Master Co. Ltd. [protected]@gmail.com in response to my Buying Lead on Alilbaba .com. We agreed on his company suppling me with 140 Rapala Fishing Lures for the price of $165.00 USD. That was to include Shipping to my place of business in the USA, by Fed EX company. I was to receive my order with-in 3 to 5 days. I also told him I wanted to buy some Yo-Zuri Fishing Lures. We agreed on shipping me 300 Rapala Fishing Lures each month along with An undetermined amount of Yo-Zuri fishing Lures. I asked to purchase more item immediately. He told me that we must complete this first deal before I could get more. I was told to send the Money by Western Union to his Manager. Mr Paul Louis, Medan, Indonesia. And send him the MTCN number. The fee to send it was $22.00 US, so I was out of pocket $187. This was 5/20/08. I sent him the MTCN number. The next day I received an email saying his manager would not allow him to complete the deal until I purchased 4 additional Units Of Lures. He was the one who would not let me buy more until this deal was complete. I told Mr. Anton Simson that I was sending no more money in that fashion, and he could send me the Lures I had paid for or return my money. That was 5/21/08. I have not heard from them since. I have sent numerous emails to Mr Simson, Luresmaster Company, and Mr Lewis. I tried contacting them by the phone number listed on Alibaba.com, and was hung up on several times. I have sent several emails to Alibaba.com that has not been answered. I feel that I have been a victim of Fraud, and that Alibaba.com must condone this action, since Mr Anton Simson and Lures Master Co. Ltd are still doing business on Alibaba.com. Most of my contact was through Ailibaba so they have the access to the emails. I also told them I would be Glad to furnish them with all of the communication and the Western Union Receipt. Still no response from Alibaba.Com. Next I will try sending a letter to my Congressman, the Embassy Officials in both Countries, and any Internet Trading Organization.

eBay they don't want small dealers

No matter what eBay says, their recent feedback policy changes have been put in place eliminate all small and mid-level sellers to the site to make way for all of the mega volume sellers on the site. eBay is ran by corporate minded people who do not think about small business, but rather how much money can they become worth.

This is evident eBay swallowing up every company that could piggyback or compete for their share of the marketplace (paypal, Skype, banning Google Checkout)

I have been running an eBay store for 2+ years with nothing but 100% feedback and great seller experience. Then they change their feedback policy and like many of you, have found my score to drop drastically and in turn have found my account on hold for 30 days!

The reason for the hold on my account for poor seller performance and creating a bad buying experience. Well now that buyers have a free for all on our feedback that is "relative to the volume of sales per month" the small and mid-level sellers will soon be forced out for poor feedback equally low sales or eBay simply closing you down because you do not give them enough money.

On top of that, when the neutral feedback was put into place eBay told sellers and buyers that the neutral feedback would not hurt a sellers score and then in turn made sellers and buyers kind of ok with that and understanding. Then out of no where those neutrals do count and are held against us. I was talking to a customer service agent with eBay this morning and asked him in all honesty if he thought that sounded fair. Of course he couldn’t answer the truth and said all he could say was the policies.

I also asked him why eBay favours the buyers when its the sellers who actually pay fees to eBay and have an alliance with eBay and work on the site daily. So you give all the power to the buyers in truth may visit the site once a month? Is it because they want to keep the buyers happy and visiting all of their mega dealers? What does eBay care if a small dealer wont be selling their iPod on eBay when they got some huge company on there selling 5000 of them at a time?

I returned an email to them with some questions I asked them. I will post their reply here if I get one back.

I have encountered the exact same problem and have also been suspended for 2 negative feedbacks both of which were issued refunds and never incurred a loss from me. I do not think the new policy is fair and we as sellers have no rebuttle rights to this at all! I have since quit selling on ebay which has financially hurt me but if I can't depend on my account being avaliable for me then why do I need to run up listing fees to have auctions canceled that are NEVER credited back then the process turns into account suspension for non payment of seller fees!

Ebay soon will be a thing of the past and they will continue to lose thousands of members a week to Amazon, just like me.

eBay I got ripped off for 938.00 on ebay and they don't care

I found a reasonably priced 150cc Scooter on Ebay. Sent a bank check for the sum of 938.00, and I got a Junk Scooter that wont start! Its been a year now and I’m still pissed because the thing sits in my basement and still wont start! I bought it from a Scammer named Rak on Ebay. His Ebay store is called Netnetstore. He is located in Lorain Ohio. I talked to everyone there except for him. I talked to his Mechanic, who stated he’s just a Ford mechanic. I talked to the receptionist, who always says he’s gone or in a meeting. He did send me some parts but they didn’t help and most of those parts were for the lights. What a rip-off!

I think many people do not check the ads for specific information before they buy. Did you ask for information from the seller such as how old is it, does it run, and any other thing you can do to avoid a rip off. Did you get a picture, did you complain to ebay?
I ALWAYS check other ads to see if the price is out of range, and I often read the sellers and buyers columns about rip offs to identify the likelihood this is one of those kinds of sales that I could lose $ on. I did not see you say you talked to ebay or what they said. Yes there are scammers, buyer beware is all over ebay for the people who listen. Sorry on your loss!

eBay Scam

Be careful of this company, they make promises of making thousands by giving away free software, they also claim that it was designed by a ebay software developer, and it is ebay certified.

IT IS NONE OF THE ABOVE!

They will rip you off for $199 and $30 a month for a "license" to give away free software called shopping genie.

I was ripped off for $197 and $30 a month until I discovered that the software they refer to as shopping genie was actually something YOU CAN GET FOR FREE at ebay, called "ebay to go"
they are charging $197 for this!

Dont fall for this scam!

I have been doing business on Ebay for years now and now I am literally scratching my head, I was a top rated seller on their site and was doing great until April 2012, during this time my sales had plummeted and I am not kidding, by 95%. I went to my seller dashboard and I noticed that my Seller performance was like it always has been, almost perfect with no complaints, I was further confused at what could be wrong, so I called Ebay and they pointed to the Buyer Protection cases and there was the problem, during April I had 3 cases concerning a product all were taken care and the customers left glowing feedback on my speed and willingness to solve their problem in a professional and quick manner. OK, so you would think no harm no foul, not the case, it seems Ebay does not take into consideration of you solving the problem, the strike goes against you because a complaint was filed, regardless of the outcome. In my opinion this is micro managing at its worse, I am totally disoriented and confused about a policy that would punish you regardless of the outcome. Yes, I am upset with this and I do intend to send a report to my congressman to look into Ebay's policy on this and see if any business related regulations are being violated.

Ebay can and will STEAL money from your paypal account. If you can finally get them to admit to taking the money, they will say it is within their rules and you have no recourse. This is STEALING pure and simple. If you ask them to read you the RULE they are applying, their answer is "its in there". It is not in there. I have read and reread every paragraph of "fine print" available and nothing gives them any right to remove money from your account without permission or notice. This action is classified as THEFT!

I just was burned by ebay and its famous buyer protection scam, I have several hundred positive feedback been selling a long time with good reviews. One woman from Brentwood California just burned me very good by purchasing a bottle of Chanel and when she received it she claimed it was not authentic, I have previously had the bottle authenticated and because it came from a family member who had passed I knew its entire history, date of manufacture, bottle designer ect. she was allowed by ebay to stomp her feet open a case and even when I provided all documents and receipts they still sided with her, well it just got to my house today and guess what. Its NOT my bottle of Chanel its been filed on the back and is 1/2 empty, what did ebay do? They gave her my Chanel and her money. They are legal gangsters. I added her to [redacted] and that's all I can do. I like the signature above "if you cant afford to lose it, don't sell it on ebay" I have closed my account and will never do business there again.

On March 9, 2013 I bought a 1956 Chevy pickup form SportsCar LA using the Buy It Now option thru eBay. I talked to them first telling them that the truck would need to be shipped to Custer SD on April 16th. I was told it would be no problem and would cost $7-800 (ACTUAL COST $1300). It took until 3/14 to get an invoice that spelled out those details. I paid in full by bank wire within 20 minutes. I finally rec'd an assignment of title 3/29 after much prompting. They had never actually held title. They said that was normal. They kept telling me they would get shipping arranged. They missed the promised date even tho I had spent $1000+ to get to the delivery poiint. (I have two homes and had to fly to Custer -- which they knew). When it became clear that they would not get delivery accomplished I asked for my money back. They refused. I told them I would post negative feedback. When I said I'd go to eBay's Buyer Protection they coerced me out of it. They finally delivered on 4/29 (Sunday). I had left Custer and had to get someone to receive. I posted NEGATIVE FEEDBACK and they got it canceled accusing me of feedback extortion. AVOID THEM.

I purchased a 512MB Compact Flash for $88.50. I recevied a call from them the next day saying that the price was now $147. They put low prices on their web site to get high ranking on the price comparison sites but when you try to purchase it, they switch the price.

If they advertise a price, they need to honor it!

This ebay seller russmay sold me a diamond bracelet ($375) and I returned it for a refund. She refused my refund and then sold & shipped the bracelet to someone else. She collected full price plus shipping from both of us for this 1 item and still refused my refund. I have filed criminal charges for petty larceny and am also filing in small claims court.

If you choose to buy jewelry on ebay, save yourself from fraud and theft and do not buy from ebay seller russmay. Russmay is an ebay nightmare who also engages in feedback extortion. I was a fool to buy 3 items from her! She agreed to send my items back to me if I changed my feedback to positive and then she sold one of them in another auction! I did receive 2 of the 3 items back and am reselling them due to their bad energy for me.

Don't make the same mistake I did! Check my feedback on her ebay seller's feedback page for Sept 2012 - I am tahoeangels- the first buyer of the 14k diamond tennis bracelet for $375 (plus shipping). I have had over 8 years of 100% positive buying experience on ebay until I met this seller, who has now gotten my account suspended because I named her publicly and that was against ebay policy. (How can you not name someone publicly when you file criminal charges and sue them?) Oh well, I was done with ineffective, inefficient ebay anyway after they could not do a thing to help resolve this loophole for blatant fraud. I have wasted a lot of precious time and it stinks that I have to spend anymore in court! Beware of online thieves & liars & always use a credit card through PayPal if you must use Paypal. Good luck-stay safe!

eBay overdue account

I am disabled and am now unable to work, and somehow Ebay screwed me with my seller fees.I paid over 1/2 and made payment arrangements with them, and then all of a sudden these rude ### people from IC Systems started calling me.
I explained my situation to one of the IC Systems representitives.and was told that collection efforts will continue.
If I find out they have somehow tapped my phone line and called people that I call on a regular basis, not only will I file FEDERAL Charges, I will make every attempt to be there at their home office with Federal Agents to affect the arrest.

And if they try to hack into my PC, that would be the biggest and last mistake IC will ever make.

I also have my phone wired to record all calls now.So IC Systems, consider this your notice that your calls to my phone are being recorded and will be used as evidence.

Now piss off!

eBay asks for social security number

Ebay/PayPal have a new scam now. We had an account with both and were actively selling for several months. We had a perfect 100% feedback rating. Suddenly and without warning eBay and PayPal suspended our accounts. eBay cancelled all of our auctions and had the nerve to demand payment for the fees too! Since the auction info is wiped out we have no idea what the correct fees should even be. They claimed the suspension was due to "issues" with our Paypal account and we needed to resolve them first. We went to our PayPal account and it said that there had been "suspicous activity". ? No explaination. It asked for three things. A. verify our phone number, which we did. Fine. B. Verify that we had shipped a particular customers item. We researched the item and the customer had only paid for it twelve minutes before Ebay suspended our account! How fast do they expect us to be! And this on a Sunday too! C. Now the last one is a real doosey. They want my SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER ! What are they nuts! There is NO reason in the world they need that! They claim it's to verify my identity. What? The only way they could verify that is to take my number and do a credit check, and I never authorized them to do that nor will I. I will be filing suit in small claims court today. It will cost them at least for an attorney to come to court and defend them. I will also let everyone I know what they are trying to do to decent working people. It's wrong and the only way to stop them is to expose them. So pass the word, tell all your friends what Ebay and PayPal are all about.

Before I post my usual post here, I would like to correct "The dude that hates ebay". You are wrong. Paypal ALWAYS Asks for your SS# after the account has been open for a little while. It has happened to me. They plan on soon reporting all income to paypal accounts to the IRS. Trust me, I know. Now for my usual post about my experience with Ebay and Paypal and their scams and monopolies:

The registration process for ebay and paypal both do not at any point for any reason include your SSN.Gaining knowledge of the same would not help identify you to them at all.
Either you were talking to scamsters or youve made it up.

eBay conceals paypal thefts and internet fraud crimes

TRUE STORY of eBay concealment of PayPal thefts, Internet fraud and cover-ups...

So a customer bought my $500 item on eBay... Now I'm happy, right? I checked PayPal and money's there. Now I get the package ready to ship...

But just as I get ready to go to the Post Office, that little voice in the back of my head says, «I’ll maybe just take a look at PayPal again... "

And EUREKA - the payment had been REVERSED... Just literally minutes before the expensive item was to be mailed out - NO MONEY!

So I call eBay to get details and report it to the authorities, but they can't reveal any ' Top Secret ' details of a (FEDERAL) offence - Mail Fraud...

NO reason for the reversal... NO info on Buyer... NO EXPLANATION for eBay's GROSS NEGLIGENCE in failing to call, e-mail or in any way inform me (the happy Seller) of whatever problem had arisen BEFORE the item was shipped...

IF the item had been shipped, imagine the hassles trying to recover it (or get $$ back on an uninsured item - since Buyer did not pay for insurance)... and eBay has FAILED to ever explain, apologize or give any details on the CRIME committed... and NO evidence on any prosecution or punishment...

Nope, eBay just wants to cover up MAJOR CRIMES and THEFTS and FRAUDS - not prevent or solve them...

CBS' 60 Minutes revealed a major crime ring stealing $2, 000, 000 in merchandise from Home Depot - and SELLING IT ALL HAPPILY ON eBay... even after Home Depot told eBay what was happening, eBay did NOTHING to stop it...

Imagine - they will suspend people for simple (and unjustifiable) Negative feedbacks w/o prior notice or opportunity to present contrary evidence, but FEDERAL CRIMES? WIRE FRAUD, INTERSTATE MAIL FRAUD ? ? just let 'em slide...

I had purchased 2 GPC navigational systems off ebay for approx. 76.00 each. I waited, no product. I emailed and emailed with no return response. I contacted ebay and pay pal. Of course, I had paid. Only later to find that this person or person had sold hundreds of these with multiple complaints over a 3 month time span with ebay doing nothing to correct this. Ebay knew this was a scam and did nothing to protect buyers. So, I made my case to pay pal and won. Ha, ha... I never saw a dime of the money! I have never bought on ebay or used pay pal again. It's only a scam! Where is the better business companies when you need them. If I sold a fraudulent product I would go to jail. Ebay and Pay Pal just make more money.

eBay terrible service!

I have recently started using eBay and have purchased two items and made a few bids on other items. One of the items I recently purchased was a server, and I immediately paid for the item using PayPal. The money was received by the seller. The next thing I knew, I received a notice from eBay that my winning bid was canceled, and that I was suspended for 'abuse'.

I have made multiple attempts to get an answer as to what constituted this 'abuse'. All I am given is a generic canned answer that says nothing. The customer service at eBay is not providing any service to the customers. I was very concerned about the $560.00 that I had already paid the seller, and immediately called him.

I left a message, and reported the incident to PayPal. The merchant responded immediately to the PayPal inquiry, and claims he has already shipped the server, and has no idea why the bid would have been canceled. He says he had nothing to do with it. I have received a form letter from eBay wanting me to fax them all kinds of sensitive personal financial documentation, that frankly seems a down right invasion of my privacy and none of their business.

I am not asking them for a loan, and they are not providing me with anything other than a service. I don't give my barber this information, and he is happy to cut my hair. I have not reported anyone for anything on the system, have yet to leave any feed-back, as I still have not received either purchase. So I am in the dark as to what I could possibly have done to be banned indefinitely from eBay.

There is no one to talk to at eBay who either cares to help, or has the ability to help. This is a personal slight, and I am very upset over this. eBay has called my integrity into question, and doesn't have the decency to even explain what I am accused of. All they point to is the following:

'...we may limit, suspend, or terminate our service and user accounts, prohibit access to our website, remove hosted content, and take technical and legal steps to keep users off the Site if we think that they are creating problems, possible legal liabilities, or acting inconsistently with the letter or spirit of our policies.'

I have done nothing in violation of this clause to my knowledge. Searching the internet seems to show that this happens quite frequently at eBay. What I am most concerned with now, is my personal account information. I am a service engineer, and I currently am working in China. It could be possible that my account has been hijacked and someone has violated this policy. But I cannot get a response from eBay as to the nature of the violation, so I can't confirm that this might be the case. In any event, I will not be faxing eBay copies of my driver's license, passport, banking information, utility bill, or anything else that they are requesting from me.

I was certain the email I received was a phishing attempt, but logging into eBay confirms that the account is blocked, and the same email is in my inbox there. I had heard such good things about eBay. I now have to wonder what is going on here. I am not a seller. I am not a re-seller of any goods I purchase there. I am just a guy that likes to look for good deals and who doesn't have a lot of time at home to shop.

Ebay offered me a way to locate things and have them at home when I finally get back. I am so upset over this mess, more due to eBay's lack of concern than I could ever have thought I would be. I hope that posting my complaint and concern here will generate some kind of decent reply from eBay. I don't see how they can stay in business when this is how they treat customers.

There's a pattern here. Ebay is going after people that have excellent feedback and appear to have no real issues that warrant investigation. They are demanding personal information that is NOT their business. I'm not sure of their motive. Perhaps they are working on marketing their credit card or getting into the telemarketing data sales game. ( companies sell you personal info to other companies looking to sell you something. It's a multi billion dollar business! ) It could be something else but whatever it is Ebay and PayPal ( owned by ebay ) is getting a little too personal. They asked me for my social security number and bank account numbers to "verify my identity" GO POUND SAND! If enough people REFUSE TO GIVE EBAY/PAYPAL THEIR PERSONAL INFO it will hurt them in sales. If you have been damaged by ebay suspending your account, go after them in small claims court in YOUR jurisdiction not theirs. make them pay, make them work for their defense.
