lost and delayed luggage
My family and I traveled with emirates airlines last december and at my destination when I tried to collect my luggage, much to my horror I discovered that I was missing 3 of my luggage. It took me about 7 days to receive 2 of them but the 3rd was never found. I filed all the necessary paper works including a signed affidavit of the contents with the local emirates office before I left for home. I was told by emirates employee that it will take 6 weeks to resolve the issue. After 2 months emirates called my relatives at the local number that I have provided to come and pick up a check. I called emirates and explained to them that I lived in the us and it is not possible for me to go to another country to pick up my compensation check. Much to my surprise I was told that I will receive much lower amount than what my total loss amounted to and the new york office will contact me. Sure enough the new york office contacted me almost 2 weeks later and informed me that they are ready to send me a check. When I questioned the amount the representative told me that she had her instructions from the head office in dubai and she will not be able to negotiate the amount of my compensation. When I asked how emirates came to conclusion that the compensation amount should be $530 when my signed affidavit of lost items totaled around $1100. I was told that since I did not provide any receipts, the amount was $530. I emailed emirates 2 times since then and it has been another 2 weeks but I am yet to hear from them. I informed emirates that at the time of my paper work for lost luggage and contents, it neither was on the form nor was I told that receipts were required in order to receive just compensation. Should one carry receipts to a vacation? Why require signing affidavit if emirates will question the truthfulness of the person who signed? Should one exaggerate on the lost content list in order to get just and due compensation? It is over 3 months now but I am yet to have my lost luggage issue resolved. Needless to say that I have the feeling of utter frustration and total helplessness. So I decided to write blog and I hope my fellow passengers will be aware of emirates airlines.

Regarding excess baggage weight
As I have travelled with emirates with my family and have been pleased with services, when I checked in at bangkok airport on 05.04.09 to fly from bangkok to dubai via emirates at 20.30 p. M with my family 4 persons

We had 9 kg extra baggage weight and when I told the check in counter that my 6 yearold boy is very ill and has high temperature and I have to buy medicine and do nothave time to pay and weight for paper work and asked her if she would be kind to ask her superior to not to charge me, when the person in charge saw my situation and baby, he still insisted that I have to pay for less (5kg) !
So I told him it is not matter of payment and I will pay for full 9kg which is attached.
My question is that isn't the purpose and intention of having a superior person at counters to resolve special circumstances and is having 2kg extra baggage per ticket is really unusual in the above circumstances when I have a very sick baby on my hand?

The Emirate Air is very strick to the extra weight, and will no mercy for any passenger.
non-refundable tickets
Emirates have been sued bymy friend because apparently he had a nonrefundable ticket. he did not know this but because of medical reasons he had to extend. They took his money and gave an extension. When he came to book the return journey they said there were no seats. Then they rang and said they had a seat. He went to collect the ticket and they said his ticket had expired and demanded nearly US $2, 200 for his flight home!
We now discover that if you have a restricted fare then you may not get a seat because only a limited number of seats are allocated for restricted fares. So if they can't provide a seat because all seats have been allocated and you are forced to stay beyond the validity date, well bad luck for you it seems. They tell you that you have to pay a higher fare to get to come home. The number of restricted seats varies according to how full the plane is, so you are never guaranteed a seat!
Has anyone ever had a problem with non refundable tickets? Do people know that they might have difficulty getting a seat if they have an 'excursion' fare or one with similar restrictions?
If anyone in Sydney or Australia are having a problem please let me know. Maybe I can help.

This is about my experience on dubai-lax - - ek215 on 11th mar 2009
Yes, emirates defenitely have to do something about their customer service and in-flight service. They have good and new flights, they are neat etc..
... But there crew defenitely need to be fixed. Sofar my last 10+ years of international travelling this is the worst experience I have had with service in flight.
None of the crew member were answering call button, I have pressed it 15 times and ot would simply re-set itself after 15-20secs.
— dubai - los angeles-non-stop-16.5hrs... Except 3 time food service.. They did not serve any water or juice at all.. If you need any water etc... You have to walk all the way till the end of the flight and help yourselves.. I wouldnt mind but I was travelling with my 10month old son and he was exteremly cranky...
I have left 4 voicemessages for emirates customer service and 3 e-mails till today (24th mar) but no responce what so ever..

we were stuck on the plane for 4 hours without it moving because they discover a battery needed to be changed. This caused lots of passengers including myself to miss our connecting flight. When we arrived to NY, they kept everyone waiting in long lines and not knowing what to do. I found that to be extremely odd since they had at leat 12 hours to figure everyone's connecting flight prior to our arrival.
Your be lucky to hear from Emirates as I have an out standing complaint that has gone on for over a year now with them, 3 emails sent plus a number of phone call and today I finally heard something back from, but they are now saying they have no record of our complaints and refuse to apologies for anything, which is all we are after!
Not happy and will be flowing this up again with them, but I don't hold my breath. I will never fly with them again regardless of good there planes are. They need to learn to look after there customers. And by the way I was a silver member air-miles with them!

stolen laptop

My name is mouhamad mouslli, I flow on emirates airlines on december 31 2008 from new york to dubai flight number ek0202 and my last distention was damascus flight number ek0913 on january 06 2009. I had with me a brand new dell laptop pink top color in my bag and it was cleared from new york. Unfortunately I was so shocked when I opened my bags in damascus and I couldn’t find the laptop. I tried to call emirates offices in damascus and they said you have to go to the airport office to complain, so I did, I went there the first time they were close and the airport is really far from where I was staying, so I called again and I took the operating hours and went there again on time, but again the office was closed. And no one even tried to give me an answer in damascus, which made me very angry. And here I am trying to complain and I should get some kind of reimbursement for the laptop ($ 600) worth. So please let me know if you needed more information I can fax you over a copy of the credit card for that purchased laptop, and or any other information you find handy. I called emirates airlines more than 10 times but I couldn't get any clear answer. Hope someone from emirates see this and contact me.

I just got this information yesterday and it is of course a big trouble for us!
Pls check if we could change our trip to another earlier plane for free, pls note that on monday 30. 2017 arrive at peking is unacceptable!
We could fly from duesseldorf or frankfurt, on 27 or 28 march 2017.

If I had some constructive criticism about any service or service staff that I pay for normally I would not hesitate to go directly to the manager/company and provide that feedback in the hope that they would listen to any comments/criticism and act on them. Alas with Emirates Airlines there is no point as they will not listen or emerge to be interested to those of us who travel in the back of the airplane.
In this last period I have flown to Brazil and back and Egypt and back and both times the service from entering terminal 3 economy class – through to the cabin staff has been appalling.. I am due to glide to Langkawi next weekend and the leg to KL is with Emirates and already I am dreading the experience.
An airline that has no checks and balances, whose staff fill up the business and first class seats and who I believe have lost reality with what really goes on down at the not so wealthy part of the business ~ does any of this really matter ~ to us down at the back it does, but to the management and staff of Emirates ~ I doubt it… with dread I look towards the weekends flight as I do to South Africa flight later in the month…
Well change airlines I hear you all say … when you live here your choices are limited! and at the cost that Emirates charge the normal man … well I guess they have to augment the 10% first and business class seats for their staff…
My son went to pakistan and was due back on 31.12.08 because of bad weather conditions didnt get that flight so I rebooked from the uk office for him to come back payed £100 by card and was sent a recipt in return with all new details. On the day of my son to come back when at the check in the guy at the desk wouldnt board him unless he payed another £100 I had a call at 21m and even though e-mailing them the reicpt that I had recieved he didnt believe and so refused for my son to baord unless another £100 was payed. My son was desparte to come back so we payed it and at that time the guy at the desk said we could get a refund back from uk office. Now even though sending emirates all the proof of paper work they are refusing to pay back my £100 making excuses that theat is how it works and they are the rules if you miss the flight, if that was the case then why wasnt I told that when I first rebooked, what it is they just dont wnbt to pay back my money its £100 not 10000s so whats their problem the lady in chareg says she cant do anything and that I should go back to the agaent and they said uts a load of rubish what shes saying thay should pay be back >how can you help?.

EK boasts of being the No. 1 airlines, but I wholeheartedly disagree. They probably were the best, but over the last few years the service they provide is terrible for the fares that they charge. I have had a few instances to prove this one being today when I phoned their Customer Service telephone number to ask how early I could check in my baggage before a flight to Toronto. I was told that I could check in 24 hours before my flight, but realised that this was not true when we arrived at the airport 8 hours before our flight to be told that check in for the Canadian and US sectors were only done 4 hours before departure. To prove that I had not misunderstood the Customer Service desk's information given earlier in the day, I phoned the same number from the airport and was again told by another customer service agent that I could check in my baggage 24 hours prior to departure. When I told them that I was actually at the airport and was told by the staff there that I would only be able to check in my baggage 4 hours prior to departure, the customer service representative had the nerve to tell me that this must be a recent change of rules and that he was not aware of this and that they don't usually get informed when any rules are changed, which I think is totally careless of the airlines as this misinformation leads to a lot of inconvenience and frustration for the passengers. But I think EK think they are the "best" and that despite their shabby service, people will still want to fly EK. This may be true for some people, but they have definitely lost me as a customer. Shame on you EK, if you want to take such exorbitant fares, at least provide the service to justify them. To me this is daylight robbery.
My husband and I flew business class dubai to perth on ek420 on tuesday 4th november. The aircraft had no power shortly after take off. Therefore no entertainment, seats locked in position, no lights to read for the 11 hours. We have heard nothing from the airline and feel this is very unsatisfactory. Our anniversary weekend to dubai finished on a frustrating and very long flight. We have flown alot with emirates first and business class but will now rethink our choice of airline.
I have not recieved a reply and I send one last week and 3 times before. I had a complaint about reissuing my ticket of Emirates Airlines. I am Hussain HIrjee hoping for a reply.
My wife and I traveled business from chennai to sfo and back. Right through they made us literally beg for two seats together. Highly insensitive seating arrangement. Also they lost my bag on arrival at chennai. Very impersonal service and very customer unfriendly. I hold the highest tier in loyalty in two other airline and despite being silver in it did not see anything tangible.
Emirates airlines just can't get it right. It will be a miracle if any emirates flight between dubai and doha departs or arrives on-time or even within 60 minutes of the scheduled time. The fact that this is a 45minutes flight doesn't matter to them to get it right. You must schedule your business in such a manner to allow at least 3 hours delay or you might just have to reschedule your business trip due to the excellent non-service you get from this airline and then have to deal with flight attendants from numerous nationalities, each with their own arrogance as if the airline belongs to them. But maybe that is exactly the reason this is such a pathetically poor and unreliable airline, arrogance and non service. Rather fly qatar airways or even fly-dubai and get to your destination on time and on the same day. Emirates airlines should get a reality check... Just because you have the most planes and make the most money doesn't mean you are the "best" airline, infact I will rather fly any budget airline than ever using emirates again.
I left my glasses on the front rack of seat 11a on flight ek543 chennai (Madras) - dubai on the 10th of december. Went I got down from the plain a complaint was made. It was obvious that they ha not checked before our connecting flight to lagos. The glasses is a rimless, slightly tinted varilous lense. Its brown in colour. The case is brown with "jilly opticals" written on it
excess baggage charges
Has anyone else been ripped off by emirates for excess baggage? At & pound;35 per kilo!
In september 2008 emirates withdrew their "migration" tickets apparently, which had a 40kg baggage allowance per person. We booked our flights in october 2008, when they gave us 20kg allowance per person from newcastle, via dubai to perth, australia.
Knowing this would not be enough I checked with our movers, pickfords, for some airfreight and they priced 150kg of unaccompanied air baggage, to be collected from our house and to be picked up from perth intl airport at & pound;350 all in. So I reckoned, even if emirates were a bit more expensive it would be worth it to be able to arrive with all our luggage at the same time. And I was sure we wouldn't need 150kg.
At the check in the nice young lady saw we had excess baggage and then weighed everything. Handbaggage too - even our children's cuddly toys.In total, except for ourselves, we had 105kg of excess baggage, and emirates wanted & pound;3675! They gave us 3 choices, pay up and board, abandon 105kg of baggage and board or walk away. They then waived 48kg of baggage, 28kg of which was handbaggage anyway, in effect giving us a free suitcase, and wanted & pound;1995 for the remaining 57kg.
In effect, it costs the same for 20kg of excess baggage as it does a full adult fare and their 20kg allowance. I have tried to complain to emirates and asked them to at least justify their pricing policy but they replied:
"an airline is at liberty to determine the excess baggage rates it charges and to change these at any time"
They wont justify the excess baggage charges and they obviously bear no relation to the actual costs incurred to them as the carrier.
As such they can be rightly described as a "rip off". As a pax, at check-in, you have very few options and very little time to arrange anything.
No other carrier charges anything like these rates as far as I know. Thieving b******s.

I went on holiday at the end of 2008 to Australia, and decided to go Business Class, as it was going to be the trip of a lifetime. The ticket cost me almost 4500 euros, for which I expected a high level of service - how wrong can you be? I had a wonderful holiday until I returned to Brisbane airport for the return journey to Cyprus. Yes, I knew I was over the limit, but did not expect to be charged AUD920 (approx 460 euros) excess baggage charges! It was not just the charges, but the total attitude of the Emirates staff at Brisbane. I was not offered unaccompanied baggage, nor was it mentioned to me by them. I have written to Emirates and complained (and not just about this), but all I received was a letter back saying they were bringing my points to the duty manager - in fact, nothing at all. I hope to return to Australia in a couple of years - will I travel Emirates? NO I don't think so!
visa issue
I phone to emirates customer services regarding a visa issue and explained to them that I am going to dubai by-air and from thr I am travelling to omen by car.
From omen I am coming back to dubai for my flight, on which the customer representative said that "yes, its possible, you have to fill 2 visa application forms along with all the doecuments required and its possible you can travel out. (She further put me on hold and said she will confirm with the visa section first as well) after a while when she back, she said that yes its possible you have to send us two visa application forms accoding to the visa section.
On above phonic confirmation, I finalized my flight and now I have recived a following reply:-

My question is that I have inquired all the information over the phone and explained each and every situation to the customer services agent in emirates, I did explain to them that I am travelling by car to omen on which she said thts fine you have to fill two forms for two visas,
And now when my flight is confirmed they are giving me the stories!
Its really ridiculous!, I need a way out on it. I need a written explanation of why first your agents said I need to apply visa on two forms and I can go out of uae by car!
If not where does your rule says that no one can travell out of uae and if this is the rule then why customer services did not explained it to me when I phoned them and inquired about all the information!

I have recently had a similar issue wherein Emirates airlines denied me boarding since their flight to Dubai transits via Australia and i need to have a separate transit VISA. All this told to me on the day of boarding instead of 7 - 8 weeks back when I bought the tickets. In fact the tickets had no mention of Australia transit at all.
I have lodged a refund claim with them.
reissuing my ticket
I, Hussain Hirjee, passenger of emirates airline traveled last month, Jan 16th 09 from LAX to Karachi. Everything was fine, but while coming back to LAX my flight # ek 605 from Karachi to Dubai was cancelled and all the problems started. My flight was in the morning at 5.45 am, so I reached at the airport 3.00 in the morning, and there were no emirates offices open. Finally customer information desk informed us to contact emirates office in the morning, so I finally managed to go to the emirates office to reissue my ticket, they told me to contact virgin airline so I went to virgin airline office and explained them my situation, but they told me because it was emirates airline fault, you have to go back to emirates offices again. I went back to emirates office then they said to go to continental airline office so they I went to their office, but they also refused to issue the ticket. They told me to go to emirates office, this is the third time with all the transportation hassle I went back to emirates office, and try to explain the supervisor and finally I was very upset so they issued me the new ticket. Now you can imagine how much hardship and problems I went through, so kindly consider anything your management can do for me. Also, my luggage was missing at la airport, they said it was emirates airline fault. I am a regular emirates airline customer but this time I was not happy to travel with emirates airline, so kindly reply me soon what your management can consider.

refund or change of date of airline ticket
To whom it may concern,
My name is joe tabone and a year ago my wife had to return to her native philippines regarding some paperwork on a house thereat she purchased a few years before. Before leaving she consulted a lawyer in the philippines regarding this matter and he informed her that this problem would be resolved in about a year. Therefore I purchased her and my infant daughter both a 1 year ticket so while the issue regarding the residence be resolved she could also enjoy her parents as well besides seeing our baby daughter also. Recently she informed me that the house matter will take a few more weeks and she will have to miss her flight due to this matter. Therefore on receiving this information I proceeded to my emirates office where the tickets were purchased to se if the flight could be extended at an extra cost. When told that I could not extend after a year I asked for a refund since the flight will no be used and since my wife has to stay a bit longer. This appeal was also denied even though emirates has an area in their website where you can request for a refund of your electronic ticket (my wifes and daughters return tickets are electronic tickets and the booking was done online at the travel agency). I paid for ticket expenses in cash and recently I was informed by the agency that my daughter who just turned two years of age was no longer considered a child by emirates but now a infant and I was requested to pay a extra fare due to her age.
My wife has always used emirates in her travels to the philippines and always had words of praise for their service but this matter now has left us with doubts now. [protected] and my daughters beyonce anne tabone [protected] are not going to be used so why is it so difficult to extend or give a voucher so with an extra payment the flight can be used so they can return home. I surely hope some sort of compensation could be worked out. I came by Emirates flight EK 045 on 21st Dec. 2010 in Frankfurt Airport from Dubai and I found that my baggage was missing. I immediately reported the matter to the Baggage tracing centre in Frankfurt Airport and I was assured that time my baggage will be delivered at home the next day. But today being the 4th day I did not get my Baggage yet or any proper information from them when I call them. My Baggage contains valuable items for personal use and perishable items including medicines and as such I must get proper compensation for them which comes about Indian Rupees 50, 000/-

Returning back from a holiday of a life time in mauritius, flying with emirates, we were transit in dubai for our connection to london heathrow on 26th feb 2011. On check in, in mauritius your ground staff informed us that our seats had been booked for the entire journey to our final destination and that our seats would be allocated together as a family. However, collecting our boarding passes for the final journey from dubai on flight number ek001 we were told the three of us would not be anywhere near one another as the flight was over booked. We chose emirates for their reputation but sadly we were hugely disappointed and felt the cabin crew were not helpful in trying to resolve the situation or even in the slightest bit apologetic.

I am a business woman and a regular passenger of the notable emirates airline but with a great regret in writing to seeking help from your board in regards of my business partner (Mr. Syed mujahid hussain shah) & rsquo;s lost baggage during a flight journey on board this airline flight ek607 from karachi to dubai on 6th april 2008. Mr. Mujahid has lodged a report to the concern airline customer service and senior claim assistant in charged (Asilya mukhidinova) in regards of this matter but they declined to give any appropriate assistance nor take any responsibility on this matter. They even rudely told him that they have his baggage in the same flight but yet they are unwilling to handle it back to him. I tremendously regret and been very disappointed with the bad attitude shown by one of the concern airliner’s staff as mention above. The items inside my friend’s baggage are camera, watch, cloths, documents and hepatitis b medicine made in south africa (Worth aed35 000) , therefore his total claim for this baggage is aed47 000. I would like to describe my troubles when I used to fly with emirates airlines from karachi via dubai, vienna (Austria) , varna (Bulgaria).
I and my colleague am frequent flier on these destinations – every 3-4 months we used to fly. Already 3 times we used to fly on this destination, and we are very satisfied from everything but…
Please kindly note, that all of this our flights we have problem – all of this our flights we miss the next connecting flight dubai – vienna. Between flights we have only 2 hours and 15 minutes. The problem is that from karachi airport can not issued boarding card for the next flight dubai-vienna. Due to unknown reason already 3 times we can not obtain boarding card for the next flights from karachi airport. Thus this time of 2 hours and 15 minutes is not enough to get to the ticket desk and back to the gate. It might sound curious for you, but in our last flights we missed our connection flights due to the time limit with a lot of troubles subsequent. We are afraid that this problem will continue in the future.

I am garima sharma please help me as I m in big trouble becoz my luggage has been misplaced by emirates airlines while flying from banglore to capetown on 24th feb 2008, my compalint no is jnbek29240 n its already 3 days and we were given a priority tag which was pasted on our luggage & hellip;…….. We are regularly mailing them, except giving us the reference / complaint no. No other assistance is there, they every time says we are just in the process of tracing the luggage where as it is already above 60 hours that we haven’t found our luggage………….. The description of my luggage is it’s a red colour bag, trolley bag, with a plastic covering on it n the name n address is mentioned there ie. I was in line at Houston for checking in with my wife and there was nobody to direct people to an empty line. It looked like a free for all. After some time after we went to the front of the line. We went to what looked like an empty counter. After waiting a few minutes the attendant asked us to go back to the line. A attendant had now appeared from where ever she wandered off to the mange the line and now put us again at the back of the line despite our protestations on having already been in the line.

I am very unhappy at the recent assault on my wife by one of your passengers on flight EK383 outbound from Hong Kong at 18-25 hours on the 18th May 2014.I would of expected by now to have heard from your self's about this incident, with not only an apology.As you clearly failed to protect my wife, but also an explanation as to who this person was and why he assaulted my wife, by punching her in the head, she was left in fear clearly shaken and has a severe bruise from hitting the armrest while trying to escape his punches to her head.I would expect you are fully aware of the incident, Since a flight attendant was present at the time of the assault, but I will refresh you on this.My Wife Yu Yun Wang was seated on the aisle seat when she noticed the man on the same row as her get this small grey item, and was concealing it with his bag while clicking it, when she asked him what it was he said it is nothing just for cutting nails, then she persisted and asked again, he then said it was a phone, she said it is not a phone. at this time he got up and put the device into his bag and put the bag in the overhead luggage locker, he then moved seats, my wife then went to tell the flight attendants what she had seen, A flight attendant came and looked at the man, but did not say or do any thing further at this time.My wife then talked with an other middle aged passenger, and explained to him what she saw, he then went to report the man again.This time the flight attendant came and asked my wife exactly what she saw, as she was telling the flight attendant, this man jumped up and punched my wife in the head, in front of the attendant, A passenger then got up and restrained the man, then other passengers and other flight attendants appeared, and help take the man some where else.my primary thoughts were as to what this device was, but now I feel that airport security must be very poor if he was even allowed to get on the aircraft with any device that he felt the need to conceal, My questions are who was this man, ?what was the device, ?why did he punch my wife, ?why has she not since been given at least an apology and explanation as to why she was not protected from assalt on this flight, ?how did this man even mange to get on this flight with this device ?, As a fairly regular flyer with emirates, I find this very disturbing, I would appreciate an explanation very soon, yours sincerely B Evans, ( yu yun wang's husband )

Dear sir,
I travelled in emirates on 27th nov and while security check, emirates staff removed a knife (Hilti multipurpose knife) against which they have given a tag.
I inquired in dec and asked the location and then went to emirates left baggage counter in terminal 3 to take my item back. To my surprise, the staff told that it is already disposed. How can emirates dispose anything without prior confirmation from us. Also there is no date mention which says that the item needs to be collected within so many days.

lost laptop from carry-on
I was travelling from new york-jfk to chennai via dubai, with 2 checked-in's and one carry-on on dec 27, 2008. at dubai (there the date was dec 29, 2008), the crew asked me to hand over the carry-on and collect it when I board off at chennai. the crew said there was no space, but they did not even try to see whether the carry-on could be put into over cabin. moreover, it was a regular sized pullman with allowed dimensions for carry-on.in there, I had a laptop and some clothes. the crew tied a tag to it and handed the half of the tag for identification. I was under impression that the the pullman would be kept in some closet within the cabin, and would be kept at the exit when I borad off. for a disappointment, I did not see any of the baggages outside nor my pullman when I exited. I asked about my pullman, and I was told that it was checked-in and I would collect at baggage claim. I collected my pullman along with my other check-in luggages and went home. when I opened my pullman, I did not see my laptop. but, the power cord for the laptop was still there. I rushed back to the airport. I was back at the emirates airport office within 2 hours. I told them that the laptop was missing, showed them the power cord too, and explained them it was a carry-on, and I was asked to handover to the crew before boarding at dubai. I was asked to write a complaint, which I did. I was told that I would be contacted in 2 weeks. but no, they did not contact me. I had called them after 2 weeks to see the status of the claim. they did not have an answer, but said, a letter will be sent in next 5 days, they seemed polite, and it seemed like someone else, not these folks who talked over the phone, was looking into the claim. the days passed, no letters, no call. I called them up again, they again said they were sorry for the delay, the claim was still being looked at, and I would be notified in 5 days. I told them that it was my laptop and I need some action, some responsibility shown. they said, this time surely I would get the letter in next 5 days. but nothing again. I called them today (jan 29, 2009), they said, it was my mistake to bring valuables in checked-in luggage. come on, I did not check-in the pullman that had laptop in it, but you, emirates, did. how could I be responsible for that action? what you, emirates, did, resulted loss of my laptop which is worth usd 900. but they kept denying they could not do anything about it. it was a very bad experience, and it was the first time I flew emirates. the days to come are going to be very tough for me to digest this.

It was pleasure flying with emirates between glagow and bangalore via dubai on 6th nov 2008. Unfortunately we did not experience the same while returning from kolkata to glasgow via dubai on 6th dec 2008.
The details of all our experiences with emirates are mentioned below for your kind attention and necessary action.
1. On 5th of nov 2008, we had been informed from emirates glasgow office stating that we will be getting hotel accommodation at dubai on retun as we were to wait for 8hours at dubai. It was also mentioned that we could ask the voucher at kolkata airport with emirates staff on the date of travel.
When we enquired at kolkata airport with emirates staff for hotel stay voucher we were told that the same had to be asked at dubai and we will get necessary assistance by emirates staff at dubai airport.
While waiting for the flight at kolkata airport, we were informed that the flight to dubai ek573 was delayed by 50mins and will depart from kolkata at 9.30pm (Ist) but the flight took off by 10pm (Ist) , it means that the flight was delayed by 1 hour and 20 mins. We reached dubai at 1.40am (Dubai time) and by the time we reached the transit counter after security check, it was 2am (Dubai time)
2. On enquiry about the hotel stay voucher at the transit counter of emirates we were denied the same stating the reason that the waiting time was less than 8 hours. There was no apology given for the flight delay and we were not directed properly and not even informed about any snacks voucher.
3. We were running from pillar to post with our 10 year old child and no emirates staff were in a mood to help us out and assisted us properly. My son had to experience physical & mental agony as it was an odd time of the day when he should have been relaxing. At around 4am luckily we asked one of the duty free shop customer assistant and he informed us about snacks voucher.
4. When we reached the restaurant, the waiter was not very friendly and did not guide us to the table. He did not even bother to ask for our choice of juice and braught apple juice. When we insisted he braught us orange juice. A shabby plate of snacks, much below the standard of emirates, was served with oily and cold samosa and spring rolls with four small pieces of sandwiches. Ketchup was served only after we asked. We were denied tea or coffee and were told that it is not included in emirates pacakge.
The above experiences raised many questions in my mind about the emirates. However for few of the questions I would like to get an answer as this was my first experience with emirates (I hope it should not be the last one)
Question 1 why were we denied the hotel stay voucher at dubai airport by emirates transit counter staff for no faults of ours as in any case we waited for more than 8 hours because the flight ek573 was delayed by 1hour 20mins.
Question 2 why were we not guided / assisted by emirates staff at dubai airport as we were travelling with child.
Question 3 why were we not informed or guided for snacks voucher by emirates staff at dubai airport
Question 4 why were we treated in a disrespectful manner at the restaurant for snacks offered by the emirates at restaurant. One would expect to have hot cup of tea or coffee at such an early time of the the day (4am) rather being given cold juice, not of our choice.
Question 5 how would you account for the physical and mental stress that my child had to experience because of your poor service
I do not know how you would convince me to fly with emirates in future as we are frequent flyer from uk to india atleast twice a year and this was one of the reason that we enrolled with your skywards programme (Ek [protected])
But having such an experience, it really creates a shabby picture of emirates

Emirates is a wonderful airlines but that doesn't mean it is 100% perfect worldwide. I strongly recommend someone in the management in Dubai or UAE Head Office to curb into Blue Area, Islamabad, Pakistan office. I tried to reach their (Islamabad, Pakistan) provided phone number (Only numbers 578 1114 / 1115) on different days and different working hour times (Mon to Sat, 09:00 to 17:30
Sun, Closed) but unfortunately couldn't able to get anyone to assist me. I already had my Emirates return ticket bought from the States but it seems to me in Pakistan every thing changes what is widely considered basics of any Business, timely customer service.

Respected Sir,
I request you most earnestly and honorably to take note about the unwanted behavior of your Cabin Crew on Flight No. EK 532 dated 06.06.2011 from Dubai (DXB – CHN) to Cochin International Airport.
I was travelling on the flight to Cochin which look off from Dubai Airport behind scheduled time at around 9.35 pm. My Seat No. 14B. Mr. Tiho ID No. 398866 serving on the flight was refused to serve food to me even after requesting him to do so. He serves other passengers but did not take heed to my request. After 20 minute he serve me a plate of Biriyani. But on requesting him to give me a second serve of Biriyani Mr.Tiho (No. 398866) started asking me and rude questions such as :- I had a big stomach etc. and he refused to serve any second helping of Biriyani.
Instead of serving me a passenger on your flight or trying to convince me politely, he was making rude remarks and trying to outsmart and be little me infront of all the other passenger’s such rude ‘Behaviour’ is not expected from the Cabin Crew of an Airline with a good reputation such that of Emirates Airlines.
Please kindly restrain such rude Cabin Crew like Mr. TIHO No. 398866 from misbehaving with passenger’s like me and do kindly train them to be polite and well behaved and service minded.
Hope you will restrain such Cabin Crew from such rude behavior and oblige by taking action.

Im sorry that your experience was a bad one with emirates. I must say that i think the reason why you were denied the airport stay was because of the delayed flight into dubai. Considering that check in for the Glasgow flight, which departs at 0750 would have been opened at 0440 it would not have been classed as a long enough stopover for your checkin.
As for the restaurant i cant condone the behaviour of the staff but this isnt a Emirates Airline problem, and unfortunately you would need to complain directly to the airport authority or the restaurant directly.
I hope this helps clarify a little and hope your future flights with Emirates are more positive

careless, unprofessional and cold behavior of junior and senior staff
I travel emirates twice every month between new delhi and dubai, for business. This time I got my return journey pre poned for dubai - delhi flight, and was told by the call centre staff the seat is confirmed and I had to pay 70 aed for date change. When I reached the airport that evening for 2210 flight, I was surprised to know that there was no night flight that evening ! And the night flight is only 3 times a week, and the only next flight is ar 4 in the morning. I had no choice, but requested the manager to allow me to use any of the lounges there, to which he coldly replied in negative... I was surprised that I was at the airport due to their staff's carelessness, and considering the frequency I travel on emirates, I should have been allowed to use the lounge.
Mr manager, I was not "dying to use the lounge", it was just that I should have been made comfortable by you as it was not my fault. Fine, a carelessness was done by the call centre staff, but the manager should have tried further discomfort to its client and should have allowed use of the lounge... The story doesnt end here, the morning 4 o clock flight was also delayed for 5 hours, and left at 8: 40 am...

I had my Emirates flight( (EK513) on 5th of Jan 2009 from New delhi to Dubai and finally to London Heathrow. Instead of leaving at 4:15 AM in morning it was rescheduled at 12:05 PM in afternoon without any prior notice hence there was delay of 8 hours. When asked emirates staff about my time of arrival at London they had no idea about it. I reached Dubai airport at 3:00 PM dubai local time. I asked emirate check-in desk to make my transport arrangement from London to Bristol as I’m going to reach late at night at London, but they informed that they can't do anything from Dubai but emirates people at London can help in this regard.
Dubai flight (Flight # EK 005) was supposed to depart at 4:30 PM; again there was one hour delay and flight departed at 5:30 PM. I reached London airport at 8:45 PM. From London I had to go to Bristol which is 2 hours distance by bus. By the time I finished my immigration and collected my baggage it was 9:30 PM. I asked emirates desk at London about the transportation arrangement they informed me that they will not be able to help me, but I can take taxi from London to Bristol and emirate’s will refund my money. By the time I reached home it was half past midnight. I was scared as I was traveling late at night all by myself with lot of luggage. I need my refund of the taxi bill of 150 GBP ASAP. Emirate’s should atleast inform the travelers on time that the flight will be delayed so that they can make their backup plans. I knew nobody in London to stay overnight there; emirates should have atleast taken a responsibility of dropping me to my destination. I would never taken emirate tickets had I known that I will be reaching home so late in night. Emirates should refund my money back.

I started my travel from Dubai to Ahmedabad, flight date : 25 Feb 2008 but when I was arrived on 26 Feb 2008 & waited 3 hrs for my bags but did not received my Baggage then the staff on duty ask me to fill one form called (PIR) Property Irregularity Report (PIR) for checked baggage. After that they ask me to stay for a day in a Hotel & buy whatever I need as I was not having my baggage also they promised me to Reimbursement whole amount which i spent. I missed my next day flight from Ahmedabad to Jaipur because of Baggage on top when I received my baggage & I have given all the bill in order to reimburse, they refused.

I had a very positive experience with The Emirates. Flights were on time, flying Melbourne to Dubai; Dubai - Milan. Excellent service, good food. Luggage clearly marked. Will defitely be using this airline again. No complaints whatsoever. The service and food was a lot better then Quantas or British Airways. I avoid flying the latter whenever possible.

I would ike to draw to your attention our experience availing the service of emirates during the time that my 7 year old daugther flew back in Manila from Dubai last 3 January 2009.
When we called our daugther during the night time that she was at home in Manila, we just found out that the passport that was handed over to them by the assigned flight or ground steward was not belong to my daughter. Since it was the first time that we avail the service of Emirates in travelling unaccompanied minor, we believe that the airline personnel will take good care of all the things that require from them.
We are so disappointed on the kind of service that the Emirates had.

I had to travel with my wife and 2yr old daughter on 29dec08 0415am by ek513 flight from delhi to dubai. our booking

In July 2010, my then 1 year old daughter, wife & I were booked to fly Dubai-NYC. We had made atleast 2 phone calls to Emirates in the span of 1 month prior to departure, requesting for a basinet seat for our daughter. On both occasions, we were assured that the check-in staff at Dubai T-3 would take care of our request, provided we arrived well before the ETD.
On our departure date, we arrived 3 hours prior to the ETD at the check-in counter in T-3. We were informed that all seats were full & they would be unable to provide us the basinet seat. It was only at the insistence & begging of my wife did the check-in staff agree to make amendments in the seating arrangements & eventually granted us the basinet seat.
Common sense would demand that on a 14 hour journey, with a baby in hand, there should be no need to justify our request for a basinet seat. Also, this was clarified on the phone, well before the journey that our request would be accepted by the check-in staff, which as I explained, didnt happen.
In light of the above, are we expected to believe & trust Emirates in future?

The only good in this thing that I got high fantacies and started sittling myself in UK before I get there :)
When I googled about the subject, Thanks to God I found that many people are warning each of these ### ###. How could anyone manuplate people and con them of fake jobs around. In my opinion, these people should be presented to justice for their miss use of internet technology. The most I was asking to free internet, the most now I insist in restricting it and coming after such corrupt people who tries and searches anywhere for theift and deception.

Absolutely right even i received an offer letter from emirates airline group for the post of manager operations in UK. which i never applied for...also all the nos are diverted to the other nos in nigeria, u can hear the voice tags by mobile services, hear it till end on [protected]. I would request u all not to respond to these types of email. Also we need to alert the vigilance department in emirates group. These guys are spoiling name and dont know how many students or workers have come in there trap. Need to track these guys immd.

these scammers are at it again, they have sent me a job offer as head of operations in manchester with emirates airline, everything is false including the website, i actually applied for a job as pipefitter supervisor in the middle east so how can they offer me a post as head of operations for emirates airlines, the next step will be to ask for money for my visa, this is a mistake by them because i´m english and dont need any visa, they are actually targeting people who need visas to work like someone from india or pakistan for example promising the earth and then asking for the money in advance for the visa and i dont need to tell you once you hand the money over its gone and so have they. So all you job seekers out there the moral of the story is never hand over a cent of your hard earned money to these ###. All decent agencies will NEVER ask for money up front, you´ve been warned cheers cliff hornsby

I travelled to Delhi via Dubai on the 12th December 2009. Much to my dismay I landed in Delhi only to find out that my bag had not arrived from Dubai. I spent 2 painful hours filling in forms and contacting Dubai where I was told by the assistant in Delhi that there were 2 flights due that day from Dubai to Delhi and that my bag would be on it. I was told to carry on with my journey hence forth and that my luggage would be delivered to me where ever I was India. I was left with only the clothing I had on and my handbag.
I contacted Delhi airlines the following day and was told that my bag had not arrived. this went on for a weeka and finally I contacted the managers office at the emirates office in Delhi ( spoken to Devendra) and was told to fax him all the relative forms, with my ID and ticket and also that upon my departure I would be compensated with $150.
Sad to note that to date I have not been compensated, neither has my bag been found.
I have contacted the Johannesburg, South Africa emirates Office ( Henrietta) and was told that she would contact the Delhi office once I fax her all the relevant copies. I have done so and have not to date ( 10/01/2010) heard from them.
My dismay was that I had to buy underwear, toiletries, cosmetics, and clothing. I was going on a pilgrimage to India and was left totally deserted. I had to buy Eastern Clothing to attend the pryarer ceremonies being attended.
I also had my travelling iron, kettle, and blow dryer in the bag. Futher to this I had all my Baby's medication (she is asthmatic) in the bag.
I had no jerseys and had to buy these too as the north of Delhi was freezing.
In Mumbai it was 35 deg and very very hot, which left me having to buy summer clothing.
I am so disappointed with the way this query has been handled. I was told by Henrietta (in the Emirates Jhbg offices) that I could possibly wait for up to 3 to 6 months for them to try and tradce my bag or for a compensation on my bag. in the interim I have to compensate myself. And should they find and retutn my bag, what happens to the money I spend on purchasing all these items.
I honestly thought from the all the positive advertising Emirates does in our media that they would provide an up to date service and look after their passengers esp. in a foreign land, and yet they created the inconvenience.
I will be taking this issue up with the media and also in all Emirates advertising cmpaigns, 'cos I think the service stinks!
