Prior to joining Navy Federal, I had the ACA (Obamacare through Molina). All of my medications were covered with absolutely not issues. Prior to accepting the medical plan with the job, I contacted Express Scripts and was advised that my medications were covered; therefore, I accepted the plan. However, after the plan went into effect, I was then told by Express that my Synthroid brand was not covered and I was being forced to take the generic, "Levothyroxine", which I am severely allergic to. My doctor got the Formulary review stating my allergy and I got approved for my medication. The approval expired June 2024, which resulted in Express Scripts needing a renewal. However, they kept insisting that I needed a pre-authorization for the medication, which was not the case. After dealing with Family Care Partners and Express Scripts for three weeks, I got fed up and asked for a supervisor. I ended up speaking to three supervisors, Lisa, Davin, and Yvonne and finally told by Davin that it was not a pre-authorization but a Formulary Review that was needed. To date, I have not been approved and low on my medication with Express Script forcing me to take the generic, which I refused. To make matters worst, my file was not documented to show my allergy, which concerns me in the case of an emergency.
Claimed loss: Nothing has been done to date and I filed a complaint with Navy Federal as well.
