Fanpop: A Disappointing and Unfair Platform for Fandoms
I gotta say, Fanpop is a real piece of work. I tried to join up and share some of my favorite fandoms, but before I knew it, I was banned for no reason at all. I mean, what gives? I thought this was a place where fans could come together and share their love for all things pop culture. But apparently, if you're not a "secure member," you're just asking to get suspended.
And don't even get me started on the double standards. Some people on this site are allowed to upload all kinds of copyrighted material, but if you try to share something innocent like a fanfic or a fanart, you're out on your butt. It's like they're just waiting for an excuse to ban people.
I'm not the only one who's had this experience, either. I've heard from plenty of other fans who've been kicked off Fanpop for no good reason. It's like they're playing some kind of sick game, trying to see how many people they can ban before they get shut down.
And let me tell you, when the DMCA laws finally catch up to them, they're gonna be in big trouble. They can try to defend themselves all they want, but we all know the truth: Fanpop is a joke, and it needs to be taken down.
Fanpop Review: Good Info & Friend Potential, But Terrible System & Communication
This website, Fanpop, has some good information and the potential to make friends, but the system is terrible. There are many issues that make it difficult to enjoy the site fully. For example, images are often removed without any explanation, and some members can be incredibly rude. Additionally, if someone tries to upload something for the purpose of criticism, it may get taken down due to the "butthurt" of other people.
I have personally contacted Fanpop twice to ask why my stuff was removed, but I received no response. This lack of communication is frustrating and makes it difficult to trust the site. Furthermore, some people can speak up with a negative opinion, but when someone disagrees and argues, it gets censored. This has happened to me before, and it's not a pleasant experience.
If you're someone who can handle these issues and still enjoy the site, then that's great! However, if you want to stand up for something or express your opinion, you may have bad luck.
Overall, Fanpop has potential, but it needs to address these problems. If the website can do this in a way that is fair and effective, then maybe I can review it more positively in the future.
Mixed Feelings: My Experience with Fanpop
I've been using Fanpop for a good two and a half years now, and I gotta say, it's a pretty decent site. But there are some things that really grind my gears, you know what I mean?
First off, the arguments. Oh boy, the arguments. People on this site just can't seem to agree on anything. And if you happen to have a different opinion, well, get ready for a whole lot of drama. I've seen so many fights break out over the smallest things, it's ridiculous. And it's not just a little disagreement either, it's full-on name-calling and insults. It's like some people forget that there are actual human beings on the other side of the screen.
And don't even get me started on the bullying. I've seen it happen to so many people on this site, and it's just not okay. Recently, one of my friends was getting harassed by another user, and it got really bad. Even after a bunch of us tried to defend her, we ended up getting banned for supposedly being "fake users". Meanwhile, the bully was still running around causing trouble. It's like the admins don't even care about the safety of their users.
Speaking of admins, good luck trying to get their attention. It's like they're always MIA or something. You can post a question or a problem and wait for days without getting a response. And when you finally do get a response, it's usually some generic message that doesn't even address your issue. It's frustrating as heck.
But despite all of that, I still find myself coming back to Fanpop. There's just something about it that keeps me hooked. Maybe it's the sense of community, or the fact that I can connect with people who share my interests. Whatever it is, I just wish the site would do more to make it a safe and welcoming place for everyone.
Mixed Experience with Fanpop: A Review of the Fan Community Site
I've been using Fanpop for a couple of years now, and I have to say, it's been a bit of a rollercoaster ride. At first, I was really excited to join a community of people who shared my interests and passions. I loved being able to connect with other fans and share my thoughts and opinions on all sorts of topics.
But as time went on, I started to notice some serious issues with the site. For one thing, there were a lot of bullies and trolls lurking around, just waiting to pounce on anyone who dared to disagree with them. I myself was targeted by one particularly nasty user, who made it their mission to make my life miserable.
What was even worse was the way the site's admins handled the situation. When I and my friends tried to report the bullying, we were met with indifference and hostility. The admins seemed to think that as long as the bully was expressing their opinion, it was okay to emotionally compromise someone else. It was a frustrating and demoralizing experience, and it made me seriously question whether Fanpop was a safe and welcoming place for fans like me.
Another issue I had with the site was its report system. It was so broken and ineffective that I could report my own stuff and it would be removed in one day. And anyone could report anything for any reason, since there was no real oversight or accountability. It was a free-for-all, and it made me feel like my contributions to the site were never really safe or secure.
And don't even get me started on the site's security measures. Anyone could create an account with a fake email address, and there was no real way to verify whether someone was who they said they were. It was a recipe for disaster, and it made me worry about the safety of my personal information and data.
All in all, I have to say that my experience with Fanpop has been a mixed bag. While I've met some amazing people and had some great conversations, I've also had to deal with some serious issues that have made me question whether the site is really worth my time and energy. If you're thinking about joining Fanpop, I'd advise you to proceed with caution and keep your expectations in check. It's not a perfect site, but it can still be a fun and rewarding place to connect with other fans if you're willing to put in the effort.
Fanpop Review: Poor Layout, Bad Customer Support, and Strange Priorities
This website, Fanpop, has a lot of issues that need to be addressed. First of all, the layout of the website is not very user-friendly. Sometimes when I try to go to a page, it breaks and I have to refresh the page. Additionally, the website is filled with ads that take up all the white space, making it difficult to navigate. If you don't have an adblocker, I would not recommend using this website because it is very hard on the eyes.
My biggest complaint about Fanpop is the customer support. I have tried to contact them several times, but I never received a response. I even went to an admin's page (Dave) to ask my questions, but he didn't reply either. Eventually, he did respond, but he was very rude and told me not to comment on his wall again. It is clear that the customer support on this website is terrible because it is almost impossible to get a response. When I persisted in trying to get an answer, they told me to stop bothering them. It seems like someone doesn't want to do their job!
Another issue with Fanpop is that they are very strict about creating a second account. If you do create a second account, they will ban your IP address. However, I have a friend who was bullied off the site, and when we provided proof of the bullying, Dave just disregarded it. It seems like on Fanpop, cyberbullying is okay, but creating a second account is not.
Overall, I would not recommend using Fanpop. The customer support is terrible, and the website is not user-friendly. Additionally, they seem to have some strange priorities when it comes to enforcing their rules. If you are looking for a website to connect with other fans, I would suggest looking elsewhere.
Fanpop Review: 1/5 Stars, Would Not Recommend - A Complete Disaster
stars, would not recommend.
In my experience, Fanpop is a complete disaster. I spent three years as a member and had multiple accounts during that time span. However, I was trolled and betrayed, and all the time I spent there was a waste. I used to serve for the Sonic fan characters fan club before I was IP banned for having an opinion that wasn't what the majority of the club thought. It's funny because I slaved away trying to make the club better, but my work was in vain. Most of the friends I had there eventually stabbed me in the back, so I almost couldn't trust anyone. There were some good people there that were reported off and are pretty much in the same boat that I am in. But I suppose it's a good thing to get away from that dump. When even Wikipedia refused to acknowledge a site, you know it contains fail.
Fanpop should be avoided at all costs. It's nothing more than a sinking ship. Just let it hit rock bottom, and it will do us all some good. The security is rather poor, and the admins and mods are filthy liars. They allow a cyber-bully to remove my friend's accounts and pretty much worship him like a bobble-head. The ad space is HORRIBLE, and it's generally unpleasant. I won't lie, back in the day, Fanpop was half decent, but all the changes lead it to disaster.
Fanpop is pretty much in internet hell. Any lower, and it would encounter the likes of 4chan. It's best just to dodge this bullet. Plenty of better websites exist. I give it a 1/5 stars and would not recommend it to anyone.
Fanpop Review: Poorly Executed Concept, Ideologically-Based Admin Decisions
I remember using Fanpop a few years back, and it came to mind when a friend recently mentioned how terrible their experience was on the site.
The idea of having a website dedicated to things you're a fan of is a great concept, but it could have been executed better. I appreciated that it wasn't like the typical self-centered social media platforms, and that you could (in theory) comment on things you enjoy.
However, my experience on Fanpop was bizarre. There was a group that had rules in place to make it safe for younger users to browse without encountering sexually inappropriate content. A few users had a problem with this and believed that minors should be exposed to this disgusting content. As "revenge," those users spammed racist, obscene comments and porn, as well as attacking the main users who were against exposing younger users to inappropriate "role-plays" and such. Reporting only worked on the obscene porn being spammed, but only after a few hours. What did the admins of Fanpop do? They removed the account of the pro-child-safety and highest contributing member of that group, as well as others who were his friends. Yet, a few of the scumbags had their accounts remain intact. They later bragged that they killed the group. Maybe things like this might contribute to Fanpop's demise?
It seems like people's accounts are being removed without warning in a Maoist-like manner if they are not politically correct users with left-leaning views. But accounts that make constant posts attacking the character of other users stay put, just because their views are leftist.
I don't think it's okay to silence people based on their political views. Doesn't that fundamentally oppose democracy? At least warn users when they sign up that if they don't toe the party line, their personal beliefs and political views aren't welcome. What a horrible attitude to have towards people taking the time to make an account and contribute to a website.
Overall, it seems like the admins at Fanpop will side with those who don't think kids should be protected from perverts. Reporting does next to nothing when admin decisions for action (or inaction) seem to be ideologically-based.
Toxic Environment and Biased Admins: My Experience with Fanpop
Been on Fanpop for a long time, like 9 years, and let me tell you, it's been a wild ride. There's been trolls, drama, bans without any notification or reason, admins who don't know what they're doing, broken pages, and even sexual predators. It's like a never-ending list of problems.
But, I gotta say, the one thing that keeps me coming back is the idea of fan clubs. It's pretty cool to have a place where you can talk about your favorite things with other people who love them just as much as you do. However, the admins who run the site are so biased it's ridiculous. They'll take down harmless articles and pictures without any explanation, but when it comes to actual issues, they're nowhere to be found.
These days, they're so paranoid about trolls that they'll ban anyone with a silly name or anything that even remotely sounds like trolling. Back in 2015, there was a huge flame war that lasted for months on one of the clubs, and the admins came in and banned everyone involved, even the innocent ones. They even posted an article saying that this club was the center of all the drama on the site. Since then, they've been banning anyone who even looks like they might be a troll.
Honestly, I wouldn't recommend this site to anyone. It's a toxic environment, and the website itself is broken in a lot of places. One of my friends even said that the site is full of malware, but I haven't had any problems with that. Still, I wouldn't be surprised if it was true.
And let me tell you, this site attracts a lot of sexual predators. I've seen some pretty sketchy people come and go in the clubs I'm in, and they're always trying to hook up with minors. I've tried to contact the admins about this issue, but I never get a response. They're too busy taking down articles that one person reports.
So, yeah, I would highly recommend that you stay away from this site. I've been there for almost 10 years, and I've finally had enough. I'm logging off for good, and I'm not looking back.
Mixed feelings about fanpop.com: Great layout, but serious problems with updates, glitches, ads, and admins. Not a safe site for fairness
I've been a fan of fanpop.com for over five years now, and I have to say that I love the layout of the site. It's so easy to find things, even if they were posted a long time ago. I'm a member of the "SONIC FAN CHARACTERS" club, and I've never had any trouble finding things there. It's so much better than Facebook, where you have to scroll forever to find the first post.
However, the site has some serious problems. They seem to update the site at random times, and these updates always cause the site to glitch up. Even when they're not updating, there can be extreme problems, like not being able to post or see comments randomly. Sometimes, the current pictures, videos, posts, etc. switch back and forth to ones that are a week old. It's really frustrating.
Recently, they implemented a system where you have to click a button to show the comments on pictures. It's more tedious than it used to be. And there are ads everywhere now. They don't go away no matter how many times you click them off.
The reporting system doesn't work well either. There are only a few options, and even when you give more information about why you're reporting something, you rarely get a response from the admins. Even worse, the report system only sometimes works, no matter how offensive the content. Sometimes, a video about pie will vanish, but a sexual picture with a woman's ta-tas hanging out will take five people to get rid of, and even then, it doesn't always go away.
But the worst thing about the site is the admins. They've been criticized by many as lazy, and I have to agree. I used to contact them whenever there was a major issue, and they would take care of it. But they would almost always simply delete the accounts of the people causing the problems, even when I asked them not to. Recently, my account was spontaneously suspended, and when my friends tried to find out why, their accounts were removed too. It was all because of the 70+ reports on my account, something the admins knew about for years and still stood by me about. They claimed I was being intolerant and not giving courtesy, even though they had never given me any sign that they were against me. They let back in every troll they removed that doesn't like me, every bully, every extremist. People who had posted waves of porn on the club, filled it with anti-Christian hate pictures, and attacked specific people on very personal levels. It's ridiculous.
Now, the majority of people who had supported me and the club's standards don't comment anymore. They're in hiding, as far as I know. I hope they're okay because I can't contact them. And those I ask to contact them for me get their accounts removed. The admins refuse to talk to me in any form, and even claimed that my friend deleted his own account, even though we know it was them.
I don't know if this is related to the admins, but I made a new friend on Facebook who I asked to contact my friends on fanpop so I could talk to them. His account vanished out of nowhere, along with every post he made, including the roleplays. It's really frustrating.
Overall, I would say that fanpop.com is not a safe site. If you want fairness, you should avoid it. The only reason to interact with it is to fight against this stupidity. If this was simply me getting removed, then I would not have been so upset, but getting rid of people for simply asking "what happened" is unforgivable.
Fanpop Review: Outdated, Glitchy, and Full of Trolls - A Failure in the Making
Fanpop is a website that has been around for a while now, but unfortunately, it has not aged well. The site is notorious for its glitches, which are more of a software issue related to the site's outdated servers. One of the biggest issues with Fanpop is the algorithm, which doesn't allow fans to edit or delete their own polls, quizzes, or questions after they've been published to various fan clubs. It's frustrating when you can't even embed a simple YouTube video to some club or upload a simple picture. Only YouTube videos are supported, and all other videos end up in the links section by mistake, such as Vimeo, or if it's a Dailymotion video, then on most devices, the video simply won't play!
The site doesn't support a shortened URL, and it's not even a HTTPS site at all, but a simple HTTP instead, meaning there's no actual security. Fans can't even upload their own homemade videos in mp4. If by mistake, you add someone to your fanlist, and that someone is not really your friend at all, you're going to have a lot of trouble trying to un-fan that person, to remove them from your fanlist. Also, keep in mind that if you accidentally become a fan of something, there's no turning back. Unlike all other social media, such as Facebook or YouTube, fanning something on Fanpop is permanent. You can't undo that! So, all future fanpoppers beware: You can't change your mind afterward!
Fanpop no longer awards new fans with special occasion caps or holiday caps, ever since 2014, discriminating all the new users. Recently, in 2019, a modern Fanpop was introduced, which allows fans to dislike videos, pictures, etc. Many fans misuse this new feature to get personal revenge. For the same reason, some users tend to spam other users, sending hate mail to enemies, insulting other fans by posting negative comments, leaving clubs they have in common for no reason, etc. Basically, Fanpop has become a troll haven. They should even change the site's name to Trollpop.
Props and personal messages are misused the most. Some fans shower their friends with props for no reason whatsoever. Some users delete even seasonal greetings attached to a prop on their wall if they really dislike someone. Others gossip about other users using Fanpop messaging system. If someone tells you on Fanpop you two are going to be friends for life, that usually means a week or two, if you're lucky maybe even a month. Then, your so-called best friend will find somebody else, another user to call his or her best friend, and he or she would simply ditch you from their fanlist altogether, just like that, for no obvious reason.
The site itself is outdated and needs a new software, as well as a new improved algorithm to give the fans more control over their own contribution and wall posts, such as editing option. Most clubs look deserted now because all the fans abandoned this site long time ago, and some clubs have been last updated over a year ago. Fanpop is just piling up the fans in all those clubs. Even though the fan count shows more than 10,000 fans in some clubs, the truth is, most of the fans are not even on Fanpop anymore. They just forgot to leave the club before they deleted their account, or, in some cases, they got banned. Yes, many fans got banned even today, and it's permanent, despite the fact that each new ban is supposed to be only temporarily. Once you got banned, there's no turning back!
Lack of activity is the main reason why I had to quit. Most fans who join the site these days are not active at all in all those fan clubs they joined, but instead, they're just silent bystanders: they make no contribution, they don't post any comment, they don't like any new content, I mean, nothing at all! Sometimes, it takes months, or even years, to finally get your first fan on some of your stuff! Most people just ignore that button made for fanning stuff completely. Nobody watches the videos anymore, nobody cares about new pictures, or even some great new links! You'll see some cool stuff with 0 likes, meaning nobody's a fan of it! Users on this site are gone inactive these days. They don't contribute anything at all. Some new users are not even interested in making friends after joining the site, so you'll find plenty of users who are not fans of anybody else, yet the Fanpop's biggest problem is nevertheless a total lack of any email validation upon making a new account, not even a phone validation is required by texting.
For that reason, Fanpop became notorious for people who constantly create fake accounts. Some users even have more than 2 accounts! There is no OTP either to validate your account. Basically, anybody can create an unlimited number of fake accounts by using a non-existent email to register. That's why so many users already quit and left the site for good, deleting their accounts after years of inactivity. Fanpop needs to invest much more in self-promotion. It lacks sponsors, and it's also the only social media without any celebrity among the users. Today, in 2020, the site has no more than 200 regular users on a daily basis, which is the main reason nobody ever heard of Fanpop. It's not even listed in any social media wiki on Wikipedia. Fanpop is losing fans rapidly.
People on this site became obsessed with props and medals. They will do anything to get the attention and popularity, even betray or hurt their best friends, just to become more popular on this site. Beware of the fake friends on this site who only use you to get props from you! Once you stop showering them with props, you're going to lose a friend who was never your real friend anyway. When you eventually get a medal in some club, nobody would even bother to congratulate you for winning your medal! Why? Mostly because nobody cares about anybody else on this site but themselves, yet usually because others obviously got jealous of your recent success by winning a medal in a club you have in common.
Let's face it, Fanpop is way too competitive: people compete with their best friends for props and medals all the time. Some users even go too far by spamming other users to get more fans, more props, more attention, and eventually more medals. Some users only care for medals, not for other people on this site, so beware of who you call your best friend, because sometimes your best friend on this site could turn into your worst enemy literally overnight! It has already happened to me, a lot of times before, so make sure you got yourself some true friends, not the fake ones! Pick your online friends very carefully!
If I could go back to the start, then I'm sure there would be a lot of people whom I should never even add to my fanlist in the first place because they were only my fake friends, or frenemies, if you like, but it's too late now for regrets. Spamming and trolling, even stalking people, became a big problem on Fanpop lately, but the biggest problems on Fanpop are actually the following: inactivity, indifference, intolerance, as well as the inability to take control over one's contribution or wall posts. I'm afraid this site won't be around in 2026, to celebrate its round, 20th anniversary. Also, this site has no headquarters and no mailing address to send a letter by post, like any other social media, or a phone or fax number, and a contact form by email is completely useless because you never get a reply. All the founders, or F4, already left the site years ago, and even the moderators are not always around when you need one.
In conclusion, to sum up my entire experience of years of active fanpopping in a single sentence, I would have to say that Fanpop is a failure, and therefore, much like Google Plus, it won't be long before Fanpop got defunct. It is only a matter of time really. Also, Fanpop is the only global social media without a mobile app! Despite the promise made by F4 years ago to make such a mobile app, there is no Fanpop mobile app available, not even today! Many users are on the mobile site, yet Fanpop doesn't care. There should be a Fanpop mobile app for years now.

Fanpop: A Great Place for Fans, Despite Some Biased Users
Fanpop is a pretty cool website for fans of all kinds of stuff. You can find all sorts of things on there, from TV shows to movies to music and more. It's a great place to connect with other people who love the same things you do.
One thing I've noticed about Fanpop is that there are some users who are really biased. They only like certain things and they're not afraid to let everyone know it. They'll leave bad comments on posts they don't like and they'll even troll on polls that they're not interested in. It can be pretty annoying, but I guess that's just how some people are.
Overall, though, I think Fanpop is a great website. There are so many different communities on there, so you're bound to find something you're interested in. And even though there are some biased users, there are also a lot of really cool people who are just there to have fun and connect with others. So if you're a fan of anything, I definitely recommend checking out Fanpop!
Fanpop Review: Connect with Fans of Your Favorite TV Shows, Movies, and Celebrities
But once you get past that, it's pretty cool. You can join different clubs for your favorite TV shows, movies, and celebrities. And you can even make your own club if you want! The best part is that you can connect with other fans who love the same things you do. You can chat with them, share photos and videos, and even write fan fiction together. It's a great way to make new friends who share your interests.
The website itself is pretty easy to use. You can search for clubs or content using the search bar, or you can browse through the different categories. There are also featured clubs and content on the homepage, so you can see what's popular right now. And if you're feeling creative, you can even make your own fan art and share it with the community.
One thing I don't like about Fanpop is that there are a lot of ads. They can be really annoying, especially when you're trying to read an article or watch a video. But I guess that's how they make money, so I can't really complain too much.
Overall, I think Fanpop is a great website for fans of TV shows, movies, and celebrities. It's a fun way to connect with other fans and share your love for your favorite things. Just be prepared for some annoying ads and the age restriction.
Fanpop Review: A Great Place for Fandoms, But Watch Your Opinions
I mean, come on, we all have different opinions and that's what makes the world interesting. But on fanpop, it seems like they only want one type of opinion and if you don't fit into that mold, you're outta there.
But besides that, the site itself is pretty cool. It's a great place to connect with other fans of your favorite TV shows, movies, and celebrities. You can join different clubs and participate in discussions, polls, and quizzes. It's a fun way to pass the time and meet new people who share your interests.
One thing I do wish they would improve is the layout of the site. It can be a bit confusing to navigate at times and it's not the most user-friendly. But once you get the hang of it, it's not too bad.
Overall, I would recommend fanpop to anyone who loves fandoms and wants to connect with other fans. Just be careful not to express any opinions that might get you banned!

Fanpop: A Snooze Fest with a Spam Problem
Honestly, I gotta say that Fanpop is a bit of a snooze fest. It's not the most exciting site out there, and there are definitely some strange characters lurking around. But what really grinds my gears is all the dang spam! It seems like there's been an uptick in spam lately, and I've reported it multiple times. I even reported the person who's posting it, but for some reason, Fanpop just won't delete any of it. It's enough to make me wanna throw in the towel and delete my profile for good.
I mean, come on, Fanpop! Before you even sign up for the site, they make a big ol' deal about how much they hate spam. So why aren't they doing anything about it? This spammer has been hitting up every single club on the site, and it's nothing but spam, spam, spam. It's enough to make me wanna scream!
All in all, I'm not super impressed with Fanpop. It's not the worst site out there, but it's definitely got some issues. If they could just get their act together and start cracking down on the spam, maybe it would be a little more enjoyable to use. But until then, I'm not sure I'll be sticking around.
