lock cylinder replacement
I had a lock cylinder and housing replaced on my Chevy Prizm. Cost me $550 for the part alone. I also needed a tire and they tried to charged me $10 for tire insurance which was never offered.; it was just listed on my bill. I caught the "mistake."
Also, they didn't give me the 5% Geico discount which I caught.
I 'm still not convinced that I needed the housing which was the major parts cost. Usually, the mark-up is lower for more expensive parts but, apparently, Firestone, has a very highly obscene markup for it to cost $550. I figure they marked up the parts 50%, a $200 profit just on the parts.
They also left one of my hubcaps in the back seat of the car which I had to ask them to put back and they left the plastic and paper mat they use to keep the car clean while they work. Small things but it all adds up to sloppy work and ridiculously high prices.
I learned my lesson. Always go to a mechanic you trust! Shops like Firestone give bonuses to their sale associates who sell "extra" services. You know what I mean, folks!
lock cylinder replacement
I had a lock cylinder and housing replaced there and was charged $550 for the part alone. I looked online and found one for $112 which is about five times the price they charged me. The sales rep said that they install manufacturer approved parts only. The part I saw online was an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) made by Genuine Auto Parts. I appealed to the company and they had the Customer Service manager contact me and he insisted that the part cost was legitimate to which I replied that I, honestly don't believe him. I was an easy mark or target. I had to be towed in so I was stuck. My total bill which included labor and a new tire was $950. That's no typo. They, also, conveniently neglected to give me the 5% Geico discount and they added a $10 insurance charge for the tire which I never agreed to. They did adjust the bill for those latter "mistakes" but I was ripped off on part. The only good that came out of it is that I can warn consumers not to do business at this Firestone. I can only imagine what scams they run on little old ladies.

Unfortunately, they keep charging outlandish fees for on time payments claiming they are late and refuse to adjust and rectify problems. Rising cost, not paid down and off as it would have been had they not fraudulenttly charged for late fees and interest associated therein when payments were timely and should have resulted in my paying off the debt! Also, work done in Independence MO and Lake Forest CA (struts and brakes) were done Incorrectly, thus nearly causing an accident--wheel was about ready to fall off from their incompetence!
refused to give me service
I went to the Firestone Service Center in Pinellas Park Fl and spoke with a person by the name of Sergio. I told him i needed 3 tires 225 75 R 15 in a 10 ply with a load rating E. I informed him that it was for my 34 foot Holiday Rambler Aluma Lite Camping trailer. He had not a clew what I was talking about. After about 15 minutes another man came over and asked me what I needed and I explained to him what I needed, and asked him if he could install tires on my 34 foot camper. He assured me it would be no problem. After about 5 minutes he informed me they would be 10 ply with E load rating and it would cost me $293.00 installed for all three tires. I made an appointment for the following week. When I returned the following week another red faced man refused to install the tires saying his jacks were too small. He stated " we only install tires on cars and light trucks". I asked him if he would install tires on my Ford F 350 pick up truck and he said " yes", so, I informed him my trailer weighed less than my Ford Truck.I departed the service center and one of my tires blew apart tearing up the side of my trailer. I will NEVER have another Firestone product on any of my vehicles again. T he man who made the appointment for me seemed to be a supervisor or manager. I am very disappointed. I have told about 50 of my camping friends i travel with and am going to inform a whole lot more. It is a terrible way to do bussiness. I figure Firestone has made all the money they want and are going to pick and choose who they sell to. I have been a loyal Firestone consumer for years, UP UNTIL NOW> Thank you Edward F. just everything
This entire trip was a disaster, and I plan on never returning. I went in for the 99.99 brake replacement deal, well instead my brakes cost roughly 800.00 + dollars. They treated me like my time didn't matter and then charged me for the extra time it took them to service my vehicle. I made an appointment for 9:00 am, and that apparently meant nothing because even though I had said I was waiing for my car, it took them five and half hours to do brakes and then they said I needed tires. I was overcharged for every service, I had the distinct feeling it was because of my sex, and when I told them that I needed my car because I had appointments, they accused me of not telling them my schedule and acted surprised that I wanted my service completed promptly. This goes on the record for the worst experience with any car repair shop that I have ever dealt with.

firestone put a bad part in my vehicle now there pushing me around!
On January 1st 2014 My car overheated on my way to work, I searched on my phone for the closest repair shop and that was Firestone complete auto care on union hills. I brought my car in at 11:12am they told me they would not be able to look at my vehicle till the next day January 2nd. On January 2nd a gentlemen called me from firestone and told me that they looked at my vehicle and did a block test, Everything came back perfect but they did notice that my cooling housing was cracked and that’s why my vehicle was overheating. He told me I needed to replace the whole cooling housing, radiator cap and both thermostats he quoted me at $540.58 I told him do whatever it takes to make my vehicle not over heat again. I picked up my vehicle at 5:31pm on January 2nd everything seemed perfect. I drove home which is not even a couple miles up the street . The next few days I was off of work so I did little to no driving. Then on the 6th of January I was exiting the highway and noticed my vehicle was starting to overheat! I immediately pulled over and shut off my car, I then called Firestone and told them my car overheated what the heck? The gentlemen on the phone tells me “oh it must be your head gasket then” I then told him I would bring it in first thing in the morning because I was very close to home. I allowed my vehicle to cool for atleast 20 mins with the hood open before I drove home. I dropped my vehicle off on the 7th of January, Firestone called me back later that afternoon and told me they did another block test and it failed so they said it was my head gasket. I go to pick up my vehicle and the gentlemen quoted me 1600.00 to fix the head gasket. I told him I needed to talk it over with my other half, so I drove home which was a couple miles from the shop. I call firestone later that day to try to schedule a day to drop off my car to get it repaired the gentlemen on the phone then tells me well our tech doesn’t feel comfortable doing the repair! Which upset me because he was comfortable enough to touch my vehicle in the first place? So I finally found a repair shop qualified enough to look at my vehicle, I had my vehicle towed there because it was pretty far from my house. It was dropped off on the 10th of January. They called me later on that day to update me on my vehicle, They said my head gasket was bad and that they wanted to continue to look feather into my engine. They finally call me back on the 13th of January and tell me that my head cylinder was cracked as well and that they noticed my cooling housing was leaking! I immediately went down to the shop to look at my vehicle, sure enough the cooling housing was leaking which is funny because that’s what I paid firestone to repair! I asked the mechanic if I could take the part for proof that firestone put a bad part in my vehicle. He of course let me take the part, I called several other mechanics to get an insight as to why my head gasket blew and after speaking with several different people and doing research on how the cooling housing effects my engine I found that since they improperly replaced my cooling housing that caused my vehicle to overheat. My vehicle tested perfectly fine before firestone did the repair! (INCLUDING MY HEAD GASKET). If firestone would have tested the part before putting it in my vehicle my car would have not overheated again, head gaskets don’t just go back there is a root cause. I called the service manager at firestone on the 13th of January and explained to him what I found out, He offered to refund me for the $540.58 I told him that was fine which just goes to show that this company was in wrong and broke my vehicle! I posted my complaint on pissedconsumers.com on January 14th and a gentleman by the name of tom from firestone corporate asked if I could contact him in re guards to this matter. I told him this whole store he told me he was going to address this with his regional management. Then he said he was trying to locate my invoice number I sent that to him again on the 16th of January. He emails me back on January 17th with a case number 2049751 and said someone would contact me within 24 to 48 hours. On the 19th the service manager chuck from frirestone calls me and I explain the whole thing over again he tells me they want to send out an inspector and had no interest in really assisting me with this matter. I then called the repair shop where my vehicle is, I told them that firestone wanted to send someone out they said that was fine but my engine is completely in piece because they are repairing my vehicle. I then email tom tell him that I have no interest in speaking with the service manager and that I would like someone from corporate to contact me because my vehicle is going to be finished this weekend. Tom emailed me back on the 20th telling me that an inspector has to come out to look at my vehicle(which is fine!) and that the mechanic should document his findings which is fine that’s what an invoice is for. I TOLD THIS PEOPLE SERVEAL TIMES I HAVE TO PART which I can bring back to the mechanic. It is now the 23rd of January and no one has contacted me or attempted to I am becoming very upset in re guards to this issue and want it resolved. I have had a rental car for over a week which is costing me $600.00 out of pocket! N my repairs are going to cost me 3, 200-3, 800.00! Im a single mother with a full time job this is just all total b.s they have done nothing for me what so ever! Beware everyone and dont let this happen to you!

charged for incomplete diagnostic check
I took my 2003 Hyundai Sonata in to have a diagnostic check because the car jerked on acceleration for a few days and the check engine light came on yesterday. I was told that I would have to pay $99.99 for a complete diagnostic check and it would take approximately 1 to 1 1/2 hrs to diagnose. They had the car about 20 minutes and came back telling me that they didn't know what was wrong with the car and I would either need to leave it over the weekend or bring it back next week. I opted to bring back next week. My complaint is that they didn't know what was wrong with my car and I but I still had to pay the $99.99 fee. I confronted Jeff V about this and he said they had done most of the diagnosis but didn't exactly know where the problem was and because it was 2pm on Saturday, they didn't want to begin tearing down the car and not be able to put it back before 5pm. My car was being held hostage and I had to pay the fee to get it back. I am supposed to take it back Monday but having second thoughts after my experience and reading some of the other complaints about other Firestone locations.

auto oil change
I went for auto repair tonight 11/12/13 for a tire rotation and oil change, after 2 hours of wait time. I watched them do oil change and they left the cap off and oil is all over my car under the hood and it smells of oil inside the vehicle. They told me oil smell should go away. Not happy with customer service at all and they lost my business. I trusted them this summer spending $2, 000 for repairs there, but I will never return there, how would you feel having oil all under your hood and car smelling of oil inside. I value my car and this is so unreasonable. Now I am told to listen for ticking as timing could be off...
I agree with you. I took my car for a complete diagnostic check because of issues I was having. They didn't know what was wrong with the car and told me to bring it back on Monday but I still had to pay the $99.99 fee they charge to "FULLY" diagnose the problem.
faulty advertising
I had brakes done at another Firestone / the firestone policy on the receipt is lifetime brake pad replacement for all cars serviced by firestone. I took my car in for brakes at the listed firestone and after the work was completed was charged foe brakes and labor. I asked why I was charged for brakes pads, I was told they do not follow firestones policy. The reason being is they are independently
owned and can set their own policy. Which is they do not honor nationally advertised policies . Another person came in that had work performed an another firestone and was sent away also citing the same policy. I feel this is false advertising for firestone and this store in in violation of advertising laws. Can provide receipts if necessary
quality of workmanship
Had a water pump replaced in 2012. Same pump needed replacement in May 2013. Engine overheated and head gasket failed August 2013. Firestone added 2.5 gallons of coolant and indicated the coolant fill cap may not have had a seal and evaporated the coolant. Firestone replaced this hose. Towed the truck to a rebuild shop. During engine rebuild by shop other...

I live in NJ. My daughter's car (my car) broke down in Port St. Lucie, FL on March 6, 2011. AAA towed her car to Firestone All American Tire and Service. They told me the engine blew and I agreed to have them replace it (with a rebuilt). The store manager was nice enough at the time. Got a quote and gave a deposit. Signed quote on 3/14/11. As of May 16 I still didn't have the car. They were rude, would not return my calls-if I did get the manager he would tell me it's going to take as long as it takes. I called Firestone back in March and had a 3 way call with them. Firestone would not help me because they say the store is independent (just sell Firestone Tires). I was then told by my AAA rep that the shop was going to be closing their doors and they had to finish my car before that. Well, guess what? The shop closed and my car was locked inside for over a week! My AAA rep stopped by again and the owners (who never contacted me) told him that they got a company to come fix my car and that it was running well. I then had to pay the balance of $1, 400 before they will release my car.
My daughter was stuck without her car for 3 months. When she did get it back, we took it to another shop before she was allowed to drive it, just to find the engine had no Vin#, wiring was not hooked up, they glued the radiator and the cruise control cable. The transmission cable had to be replaced as did the brackets under the car (holding the engine and transmission in) I still have all of the broken parts and the repair order from the new shop.
My question is this: Why would Firestone let anyone that they won't stand behind use their name. Not only was it on their receipt, they have a large Firestone sign on their building. This is just awful and misleading. I cannot tell you how horrible this has been. I am out to send Firestone and this shop a message. Don't ever let them touch your car. 1888 SW Bayshore Blvd. - just in case they change their name - again.
poor workmanship
tried doing my own brakes to save money and install calipers on wrong side and bleeder screws where on bottom instead of top and was unable to bleed properly so after hours of frustration i took my vehicle to firestone while at work i got a call from firestone informing me that my master cylinder was gone and needed to be replaced and that my right rear...

I just had new tires installed on my 2002 duramax and have purchased the lifetime at alignment back in Oct 2011 at F.C.A.C. I went in on a Monday at 8:00am 4-16-12 and was first on the list. My truck was test driven, then returned and put on the alignment rack. After that the tech took it down a side street red-lined my engine and shifted it accordingly. It has not run the same since.
After an alignment a vehicle is usually parked and your key returned, mine was 1/4 miled down the street before parking it. There is no way the steering could have been checked on the joy ride an SJ Rincon (tech) took in my pride and joy.
The manager (Larry) heard my truck roar down the street and we were in the waiting room so I suppose he thinks what the tech did is OK. I've started a claim about the incident and have been treated rudely by Gil [protected]) after waiting a week to hear from him, then rudely again by the guy they chose to check out my truck after he waited to call mt on a Friday afternoon and telling me mornings were best for him. My truck is parked and now NOT going to Alaska this year and I will have an independant unbiased inspection done upon my return. BUYER BEWARE!

I was in the store for a replacement of tires. After I drove out I saw my steering wheel was tilted. They said that since the tites were new the tilt cannot be fixed without an alignment and I had to pay for it.
Even after listing the manufacter requirements on my bill they put the wrong oil in my car. When I questioned them about it they told me not to worry and refused fix their mistake. Do not make the same mistake I did, go to a better service center.
Its is normal for a test ride after the alignment to make sure it drive straight, they should have never redlined it though, but there is torque steer to see if it pulls under load.
expensive issue with car after taking to firestone to have &repairs&
I took my care to Firestone on Albemarle Rd in Charlotte, NC on Sunday 02/05/2012 to have new tires put on and advised them that my coolant kept leaking out of my car and for them to check it. They ended up having to replace the coolant tank saying it was cracked. On Wednesday 02/08/2012, my husband and I were on the way home from breakfast when we started to smell something burning then the car started smoking profusely. We pulled over on the side of the road to let the car cool down. We sat for about 15 mins and tried starting the car again. It was shaking when you crunk it up like it was going to shut off and the smoking started again. It was coming from deep behind and below the coolant tank on the left hand side. We were nervous to drive it so we had it towed so another mechanic could look at it. They kept my car for a few hours testing it. Basically, the coolant was still leaking into the engine and getting into cylinder number one causing misfire as well as getting onto the spark plugs. We were told that because of this, we blew a head gasket. We explained that we had been to Firestone a few days earlier and that they didn’t see a problem. We were advised that it could have been prevented if they had performed a thorough inspection of the work they completed before they called us to pick up the car. We had the car towed back home and called Firestone to advise of what we found out. We were told that if our check engine light wasn’t on when they had it on Sunday, then they wouldn’t know to do a complete check on everything. We were also told that they don’t do head gasket work. The rep Amanda didn’t care at all about what happened to us. From my past experiences from getting my car serviced at other repair shops, the techs always double checked and tested their work for any additional issues before releasing my car to me. I am livid because I wasted a lot of money on new tires and coolant issues and now I cannot drive my car. This is my lively hood. I will not be returning to Firestone for ANY business. By the way, I was giving them another chance, because I took my car to them before and had issues after paying to get something “fixed”. Now, I will have to figure out how to get money to repair such an expensive issue that could have been prevented if Firestone would have cared enough to inspect their work beforehand. I want my money back to get my car fixed properly or to get another car. DO NOT GO TO FIRESTONE, THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU OR YOUR CAR! IT’S ALL ABOUT THE $$$$$$!

possible scam, unnecessary repairs
Two different cars in two different states (FL and GA) were brought into Firestone for check-ups this january. (In one case, Firestone offered a free check-up for cardholders; in the other case, the owner was concerned about a loss of power and mpg.) After completing the inspection, both Firestone shops recommended replacing the BRAKES (brakes were not an issue on either car as far as the owners knew) an addition to other repairs. When the initial repairs were done, both Firestone shops called to say they "discovered" a RADIATOR leak. Coincidence?
The common threads here are: work recommended that the owner hadn't complained about (in GA, the owner had been told recently, when having front brakes installed, that the back brakes were ok); leaks detected that hadn't caused gauges on either car to register problems; calling just when the owner was about to pick up the car to say that a radiator leak had been detected. In FL, the owner was scared into having the radiator replaced, and the "free" check-up ended up costing two days and over $1, 000. In the GA case, the radiator has not been replaced...nor is the car running much better after a not-cheap fuel system cleaning.
Are others in FL, GA, or other states experiencing the same pattern of repair recommendations? "Radiator leak" report at the end of a repair job, when the customer has already surrendered the use of their car and approved oodles of dollars in repairs?
I am posting here because this site has recent reports. I hope to find out if I've been "taken for a ride" by Firestone.
Took my car in for new tires and an oil change. Amazingly they discovered a pinhole radiator leak. Said my coolant level was low and that was how they discovered the leak. Had no problems with the vehicle prior to this. I feel completely cheated! All I needed was an oil change and new tires! Women, do not take your car to Firestone! Scam artists all the way. Put them out if business!
false advertising
Was sold Firestone Coupon book for $30. Was told I would get various deals listed on the flyer. When I went to the La Habra Firestone, they said the coupons are only good for first time customers. The people selling the coupon to me did not tell me anything about first time customers, and the coupon booklet does not say anything about first time customers. I have called the La Habra Firestone and the marketing company without receiving any return calls or refunds,

late fee charged on zero balance
I've fought tooth and nail with this company for at least the past two years. Originally got the credit card because I needed to cover an $800 repair (which I, foolishly, could have gotten cheaper eslewhere), and had no other disposable funds. I had other massive expenses come up which prevented me from paying it off within the 6 month trial period. Okay, I'll grant that, the interest thereafter was warranted to a degree, but the rate is outrageous. Regardless, I made payments when I could until the balance was gone. As of 5/17 I had finally paid it down to zero, and the card had already been cancelled for a year or more. CFNA then decided to charge me a LATE FEE on a zero balance on a closed account. Just to clarify, that's $35 ON A CLOSED ACCOUNT WITH A ZERO BALANCE. And now there's a late fee on top of that late fee. This is ###, and I doubt its legality. Some people would just pay it and move on, but on principal, I can't, because I can't - in good faith - expect that there won't be more bogus late charges tacked onto a dead account once that's paid off. Furthermore, the due date was on a weekend. If their system doesn't process and post a payment made for a weekend due date until the first business day of the week, that's not my problem.
I was a store mgr for firestone and was to to push and monitered on my push to put people in a firestone credit card we were asked to put people in bills they cant afford.
Never ever accept this credit card from Firestone. They charge hefty 25 - 30% Interest rate, nobody mention about this while they open the card.
I lost the trust in Firestone and stopped their service center for automobile needs.
Sorry that you were asked to do you job. What, did you get fired and now you are appalled by what this tyrant corporation forced you to do against your will while you were happily collecting your wages? PLEASE...

I had my car put on the mechine before I went to this firestone. They told me to fix my alternator it would be 400 and something dollors and then I must buy a hundred and something dollar battery from them before they could fix it. When I told them my battery was from wal mart and they would replace it for free they said nothing was wrong with the alternator it is the battery. Well I replaced the battery and when I made it home my alternator was gone out. Just because they couldn't scam me out of more money they lied to me and I lost my job because my alternator was gone.
