Hello,
We purchased our rv 2 years ago and since day 1, water leaks from the only slideout on the rv.
We purchased the extended warranty to avoid any problems that the manufacturer warranty would not cover.
We took the rv in maybe a month after purchase and finding our floors soaked after driving it in the rain.
They added some rubber gaskets here and there and we got our rv back.
We have had it in another time for the same problem, because our floors are still soaked after driving in the rain. Fast forward to last week when we took it in again for the same problem along with another problem, that was fixed easily.
I mentioned that the water is probably coming from underneath the slideout. I don't understand why they would not have checked there the 1st 2 times. Sure enough we were told that the tech found that the rubber underneath the slideoout was installed incorrectly. So we have had this for 2 years with this ongoing problem, because this rv left the factory with this part installed incorrectly! I still do not understand why the technicians never looked underneath the slideout evertime we had brought it in.
So now our extended warranty does not cover it. The manufacturer warranty is up and the warranty department is rejecting our claim. Why? We have had this rv that we purchased with a part that was not installed correctly from the factory.
They keep telling me that it is because it is out of warranty. This is not right. No they are telling us we have to pay for a mistake that was missed by the factory? 1. That is terrible quality control. 2. Bad customer service.
I hope that there is someone in the company that can approve our claim or at least get this corrected.
Thank you
Larry Pausal
Desired outcome: I don't feel we have to pay $600 for a mistake that was made at the factory and missed by certified technicians that worked on our rv

Larry, this situation is downright unacceptable. You need to confront Forest River directly and make it clear that you're not backing down. Contact their customer service and demand to speak with someone who has the authority to resolve your issue. Explain the situation firmly and emphasize that this defect was present from the factory.
Insist that they take responsibility for their mistake and fix the problem without charging you. Don't let them push you around with excuses about warranties. Their poor quality control caused this issue, and they need to make it right.
Document every interaction, and if they continue to deny your claim, consider legal action. Your persistence will show them that you're serious about getting this resolved. Don't give up until they fix their mistake and get your RV in proper condition.
