My promotional purchase (fees for dental service) was to become due on June 6/11/06. On 5/14/06 I had my credit card send an electronic payment for the entire principle of the loan. I have the confirmation number of this transaction. For some unknown reason, which GE Money Bank has refused to explain, this payment was returned to my credit card. Immediately upon the notice of its return, I sent a letter to them asking for the reason for the return of the electronic payment. I have the letter from my credit card company to substantiate this rejection. I then replied with two payments within the specified time. I was overseas at the time, and although I immediately made payment, GE Money Bank did not credit the payments to my account until June 17, 2006. Of course, this made the payment APPEAR to be delinquent. Since then, I have sent at least 9 letters, including documentation, called their toll free number numerous times. Each time I called I was told to put my complaint in writing. Each written response was followed with a form letter asking me to phone their toll free number. One representative suggested that I might FAX the information. I did this TWICE and never received the courtesy of a reply. Meanwhile, the account has been referred to a collection agency and finally to an attorney. The total amount GE claims that I now owe in finance charges and late fees is $2,126.76 ALL IN INTEREST and LATE FEES. Although the federal and state consumer regulations state that the creditor must answer written complaints within a specified time, this has yet to be done.

GE Money Bank is the financial institute of my CareCredit Card. They changed the minimum payment and moved up the due date without informing me. I just found out in March 2009 when the GE Money called me that my account was delinquent becuase my minimum $29 was not enough to cover their late fee $39 and finance charge of $26 every month. I found out that they have been grossly charge me $60 a month on financial charge ($35 late fee + $25 interest 29.99% apr) for over 2 years without my knowledge. Non of my $29 (except for the first 2 months) applied towards the principle.

In 2007, my dog need urgent care at SF SPCA on 6/26/07, the staff told me that CareCredit Card has no finance charge. My charge was $1, 066.68. The first 2 statement were consistance, minimum due $29, due date 21st on each month. S0 I set up autopayment plan of $29 on every 20th of each month, thinking that in 37 months, $29 x 37 months, I'll pay off my dog's medical bill. GE Money moved the due date to 19th so that they can charge me late fee. This is not interest fee card either, they charge average from 29.99% to 23% apr.

I just found out today that GEMB had put me on my son's account as joint responsible party. I NEVER gave any authorization (verbal or written) for this to happen. Now my credit is messed up. I've tried contacting them, and of course was given the run around, saying that I could not tell the person I was talking with, but was instead given another number to call. After 2 dropped calls, someone finally gave me an address where I need to write to get this corrected. I've written them at this address, however, I've also filed a complaint with the atorney general of my state, as well as filed a complaint with the FTC. We'll see how this all goes down...

Is there anyone out there that has had a bad experience with GE Money and got resolution? If so, how did you get through the bad customer service and get a positive response?

I have or had credit at Lowes. The same thing happened to me. I went to use my credit card and it was denied. No warning, no letters no nothing. I thought I was the only one here. Thankfully the credit was only 500. I will pay it off this weekend and be done with lowes and ge money bank. I have also send this link and another link to lowes to show them how ge money bank is treating its customers.

I agree with the others GEMB has done the same thing to me. This should be against the law. This is exactly what our government should be protecting us from instead of the other way around.

I agree with EVERYONE! i have been cheated by GE myself! i was 18 when i got a GE card because i was having dental work done and couldnt pay it in full so i thought if i got a GE card it would help my credit buil up and be easier payments...WRONG! i am now 23 and am still having trouble with them. the balance on the card was $200 that i charged to the dentist company and after i paid off the $200 i told them to close the account i no longer needed it. about a year later i get numerous bills from them and it went up to $3000.00 from late charges and fees. i called the company and they told me i charged $1000.00 to the dentist when it was really only $200. they argued with me so i printed off the payments and mailed it to them. they still argued. so i called the dentist office and come to find out the GE company sent them an even $1000.00 to credit my dentist account! i told them i had not agreed to that and why in the world would i let someone take extra money that i have to pay for? so i told them they will need to contact the dentist office and get the money back and credit that to my account and make sure it is closed! still has not been done. they told me they would make a settlement of $1500.00 and i got so tired of dealing with them bc my credit was being so messed up and. i paid them the amount and had checked my score today which has been two years since i have paid them and it still shows i owe them $1500.i went from a 700 score to 490! i am furious. i have called numerous times and they tell me my account is closed and its a zero balance but thats not what it says on my credit account! i am fixing to write the better bussiness bureu and send them as many complaints as i can find about this company and get this straight for everyone! hope everyone has the best of luck bc i havent yet! GE money reduced my credit limit to the amount owing, not notifying me in advance, and raised the monthly payment. As a result, it reduced my credit score. I have filed a complaint to FTC and with this Web Site. I had other cards with GE, that I closed because they would also be
reduced. Again, this reduces my credit score.

I will NEVER buy any GE product. So there. Bad business decision on GE Money Bank. They will loss thousands of dollars over the years. Less business, Less profit, and hopefully NO BONUS MONEY.

I recently used my Care Credit card for the first time in the amount of 556.00. I had faithfully made the payments early and had no problem till I had noticed the bill had been misplaced accidentally. I found it on the due date and decided to send the payment on line to Care Credit. I had no problem sending the payment and it was to be credited for that day. When I received my next bill I had been charged $43.00 late fee and it was placed on my account the day that my bill was due and my payment was not credited until the next day! This is a very disappointing practice! I thought computers payments were to be accepted the day they were received. I am planning on paying off the account and cancelling.

Contact thes organization GE Money bank is under their regulatory jurisdiction http://www.ots.treas.gov. They tell GE if there is a problem fix it.. then here comes thier calls... they are at your mercy.. I was being charged twice a month every time the month ended in 31 days... what the hell was that about, not only that, my friend told me read your contract, when I read it to my friend he said oh oh.. they're in trouble.. READ YOUR CONTRACT, KEEP ALL YOUR BILLS, CALL THE OTS "OFFICE OF THRIFT SUPERVISORS.. we have to do research forget the company find out who regulates them.. and write them with your complaints.. this is the only way we could fight back, I did it and was soooo surprised, that now they want to work with me.. but you know, I might file a suit instead... and I think we should all think this way.. I'm tired. I'm broke and in debt and they werent making my life any easier.. and the heartbreaking part is we are all struggling, these are hard times for everyone.. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING GE MONEY BANK!

I just received a ge money charge in the mail, I don't have an account with this company lets get that perfectly clear. I do in fact have a walmart card, chase bank, wachovia and quite a few other credit cards., well little did i know that ge money is a partner with these companies. There was a statement with my name on it and a balance due for 4864 dollars. I thought i was going to pass out. I called the number on the statement they are telling me that i made a payment each month on this card and then the payments abrubptly stopped. I listened as Josh told me on Saturday (August 1 2009) that this is the reason why i'm now receiving the statement. My goodness. The unfortunate thing is that my best friends aunt's husband has a credit card with one of these major credit card companies and she owed money to and for some unforeseen reason he was paying the ge money bill with his account that he is paying off his credit card debt with. How in the world could this of happend? Do I pay him back for the money he was paying on the bill? How did ge money get my name and address and could they get into hsi information through another one of their links?. Plesse help!

hey kendrat...i'm a little confused, could you help clear up some points, and i may or may not be able to help you? what type of an account is it that they say you owe? a walmart card? some other store/retailer card? are they saying that "you" made payments up to a certain time, and then quit, and what you think happened is that your "friends aunt's hubby" had been making the payments to HIS account, but somehow GE was taking that money and putting it to yours? so that when he might have realized what was going on, and had the payments going to his actual account instead, that THEN GE was saying basically, "hey, why did you stop paying?"

the odd thing is, there IS some kind of federal law that says since GE is a company set up to accept/receive funds/checks/money orders...blah, blah, blah...that they can cash ANYTHING sent to them, even if it doesn't say GE money bank in the "pay to the order of" field. so if this friends/aunt's/hubby was sending checks to GE, even if it didn't say so on his payments (i'm assuuuuuuming here that he was doing online bill pay, and might have listed GE right under the company he wanted to put it towards, and just clicked on the wrong line), then GE can still cash it. reply back, let me see if i can help.

and NO, you wouldn't pay back this person. somehow, you would have to have GE issue a credit back to the company that the payments SHOULD go towards. if they can't/or won't, then at the very least, have them send you back a check for all the money this friend of yours paid, and then cash it, give it to HIM, and let him deposit it, so that he can send it where he wants it to go.

I have an account with GE Money with a limit of $5500. The account was opened last year when my daughter had oral surgery and our insurance did not cover all the charges. I have more than $5400 available for use and therefore I owe less than $100. The payment was due on 8/15/09. When I went on line to make the payment that day at 6:15 am, there was already a late fee attached to the account even though the payment was NOT late. I made the payment and got an email confirmation.

Immediately I called GE customer service to ask why a late fee was attached to the account even though I have never EVER made a late payment and the payment was NOT late this time. The Rep Frank assured me the late charge will be taken off as I made the payment on the due date. I looked at the account on 9/11 (almost a month after) to make my final payment due 9/15/09, only to find the late charge from last month still there.

I called customer service again and explained to the Rep the erroneous late fee of last month and request it be taken off. She immediately went into "bad attitude" with me. "Ma'am", she said, "I will remove it as a one time goodwill offer". I stopped her. I asked "What do you mean a goodwill offer. You add a late fee to my account which is incorrect. You are not doing me a favor by removing it. You have to remove it."

That was when her rage really came to the forefront. She told me that even if I did pay on the due date, I should have paid BEFORE, so the late charge is valid. I couldn't believe that customer service was so dead at GE Money, that it was permissable for their Reps to rage at customers. I asked to speak to a supervisor. His name was Steven. I related my experience to him and asked him about their late charge process. He had the good grace to say it was an error and it was removed from my account.

I logged on to my account today 9/13/09, only to find the charge still there. Now this is $29.00, and while it is not a large amount of money, it is the principle behind it. If I have to take this all the way to small claims court to have it removed, I will.

Customer Service is dead and buried at GE MONEY. What a shame.

I too made my payment on time and online for which I received a receipt showing this and they are trying to charge late fees and increase my payment. They don't even listen when they call you - just ramble on and on with some foreigner customer service staff that barely speak English. When you ask to speak to their supervisor they won't let you. WARNING - DO NOT under any circumstances get this card as they are totally a rip off and scam.

My name is Rebecca Bandy and I'm 17. Today I went to cash my check at Walmart on Causeway Blvd., and the lady said that it would be better to put my money on a debit card. I did this thinking that it would be safer than carrying around my whole check (which is 300.00). I put most of my check on this and bought it.

I was told that it as soon as it activated I would be able to use it. But when I went online to activate it said that I needed to call and have my legal guardian present, which was not a problem, my mother spoke with the representative, we gave all of the needed information then were told that our information was not valid, we tried several times, rechecked our information. We were not mistaken. When we tried to explain this we were told that I would be getting a refund in about a month, and it could take longer.

I work and get paid every two weeks and I can't afford to go a month without getting paid. I was not planning to go on a shopping spree nor anything else irresponsible. I am saving for college and can't afford to be giving hundreds of dollars to multi million dollar corporations whenever they feel like keeping my money. It is states on the packet that the pre-paid card comes in "Your temporary Walmart MoneyCard Visa is activated for immediate use everywhere you can swipe your Visa Card with in the United States, as well as online, by mail or over the phone. "

I have called the card's distributer, Walmart Corporate, and the MoneyCard's customer service several times have not been helped in anyway nor have my mother and I been able to contact a supervisor because it is apparently impossible to speak to the head of any of the divisions. We have been on the phone for hours and are still not getting anywhere.

Rudest people EVER I was only on the phone with them for 5 minutes before I couldn't control my temper due to the rudest lady ever! i actually wanted to punch her for talking to me the way she did. Their online registration wasn't working and they wanted to charge me to get help to fix it! when it was a problem on THEIR end. Then she gave me the WORST additude ever and told me that I can get up and go and mail it I have time. But, the point is they say all over their bills hassle free online payments! And then they wanna charge to fix it or not waive the phone payment fee when their having problems with their site! She then hung up on me...I think I am totally gonna regret these next 9 months with them!

I thought that maybe GE Money Bank not sending me my JC Penney statement might have been just one error, but now they started calling me asking me where my payment was for my PayPal account? I didn't know that PayPal was GE Money Bank too! JC Penney refused to credit me the $39.00 late fee, but PayPal did and said they were sorry, especially when I said that this was the second time. Are they doing this on purpose because I checked with the post office after not getting my Penney's bill and there is somebody home to get the mail every day, and the post office is less than a mile from the house. Is GE doing this to customers so that they can raise their interest rates and how is it my responsibility to make sure that they send me a statement? I have now written the payment date on my calendar to make sure that if they pull this again...has this happened to other people? Then to top this off, I bought another house and will fix it up and move, and I wanted to get the power turned on and they hit me up for a $200 deposit, they said because of a credit irregularity. Was this caused by GE Money Bank, I don't know, but this is ridiculous...

Once sold, its up to Green Dot to take care of customer service. Calling Walmart will solve nothing.
Call Green Dot. They can issue a refund in 7-10 business days in the form of a check, from what I've been told.

Next time, go with cash, or open a savings account.

Bought new air conditioners and financed over 20K with GE Money. My husband and I had to each open an account as the maximum was 15K. I made my first payment over the phone because the online process wasn't available. Made the second payment via my banks online bill pay and accidentally switched the payments. Sent my payments to my husbands account and his to mine which left my account with an amount due. I discovered the problem immediately and contacted GE Money to explain the error and to get the amounts credited to the correct accounts. After 6 phone calls, all promising to take care of the problem, nothing was done. Today we called and asked to speak with a supervisor, again. The hold message stated that "the escalation department was experiencing high call volume." The escalation department? We were connected with a supervisor who told us they would not transfer the payments to the correct accounts and that they didn't need to fix my mistake. I just needed to pay the difference that was due. When confronted about all the previous conversations with other GE Money employees including supervisors..she stated there was nothing she could do. When I asked to speak with her supervisor, she refused. Consumer's beware...GE Money could care less about their customers.

I opened an account with Rooms to Go and they use GE Money. When I tell you they are ripping us off please believe it. I paid my account off only to receive a bill in the mail with a late fee. I called and after a very long conversation with Bob I relunctantly went online to pay it off thinking this was a done deal. Two months go by and I get another bill in the mail with late fees and finance charges. When I called them and stated that I had paid it two months prior I was told that what I had paid previously was paid to different accounts that I have with them, even though two of the accounts don't even have payments due until 2010 and that it was my fault because I didn't call them to make sure my money was going to the right place. They were not going to take the charges off and I should make my payments on time instead of assuming that they were going to the right account. (GREG) Are you kidding me? They failed to do their job now I'm being penalized for it. When I called them back for the 4th time last night and asked where the other funds went since the payment had been split, I was told that the payment had not been allocated correctly but they refused to correct their mistake and take of the charges.

Totally agree, my nightmare started after signing up for automatic payment. It instantly charge me my next month dues without any warning on the GEMoney website it was going to happend the very next day 28 days before the due date. It was only after i saw a penalty fee from my bank that i found out.

I explained to the rep what happened, she was not simpatetic, my next month due was raised without warning compounding the problem. Called again. late fees just because of that stupid atomatic payment. Thety didn't care just gave me the script about no funds in the bank account, even though I explained i have plenty of money to pay the monthly fee but not on that particular day. Since they are in India is ven harder to communicate and their tone of voice was rude. Just trained with a script not to think outside the box.

This seems to be an ongoing problem with this bank and ALL the stores that use it, One would think that with all these people having the same issues with the same bank that someone would step in and close this bank down for illegal activities.
Going to the states attorney gener, writing or calling your representatives, contacting the banking commission and reporting this on media sources doesnt seem to work!?
I had just bought a new bed from sleepy's, and we had to pay half down, and they financed the rest with this bank. The "oral" and "written" contract stated we had 0% interest until 2013, no minimum payments due.
Low and behold, several months later (after making over the monthly payments the entire time) the bank sends us a letter stating they are penalizing us and raising the interest rate, starting jan 1st 2010.
This violates the "contract", (by them)
I will post this on my website www.theliptokreport.webs.com and other places, call and write representatives and the president and ask they start a full congressional banking hearing and put this bank out of business (after they pay back all the money they stole from the people).
It is a shame that no attorney will step forward and represent the people in this robbery,
but you see all the ambulence chasers after the medications, and injuries.
anyone know where this bank is? a protest is a good idea!
Every one should write thier reps and ask for a hearing, investigation, and charges for this illegal activity.
I am colonel john liptok and I fight for the people, by the people against any organization or public figure, we the people have the only say, so speak up and tell your story, take it to the press, or anywhere else public, so others can avoid the bad situation and hopefully someone closes this bank down.

You need to contact the Department Of Thrift Supervision. I had a problem that after 6 months of BBB and attorney generals in two states and mine I finally got a call two weeks after The Department of Thrift supervision contacted GE. When a real person actually contacted me from GE she said se was calling me to resolve the issue after they received contact from the Department of Thrift Supervision. You can get their address and e mail on line. There is to many complaints about GE money bank on here and on the web they need to be shut down or maid to stop their illegal business practices.

ON 01/04/10 I PAID THE BAL OF 695.10 ON MY ACCT SO THAT I WOULDN'T OWE PROMOTIONAL FEES. I HAD ALREADY PAID 6, 000 TWO DAYS PRIOR TO THAT. THE COMPANY IS NOW TELLING ME MY ROUTING NUMBER FOR THE BANK WAS INCORRECT. THE ACCT NUMBER WAS RIGHT BUT NOT THE RTG. THE RTG NUMBER BELONGED TO THE ACCT I USED TO PAY THE 6, 000. WHEN I SUBMITTED THE PMT ONLINE, THE PAYMENT TOOK AND SHOWED AS BEING PROCESSED. I RECEIVED NO MESSAGE STATING THAT THERE WAS WAS AN ERROR. THEY ALSO HAVE MY EMAIL ADDRESS, NO ONE CONTACTED ME ASKING FOR THE CORRECT INFORMATION. BUT THEY WERE SURE TO TACT ON A 39.99 FEE FOR RETURNED CHECK AND A 390.00 FEE FOR PROMOTIONAL FEES NOT PAID BY 01/04/10. IT WAS AN HONEST ERROR AND I HAD ALREADY PAID 6, 000 . MY ACCOUNT WAS IN GOOD STANDING. I HAD NEVER GIVEN THEM A BAD CHECK. WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE AGENT TOLD ME IT MY MISTAKE AND NOTHING COULD BE DONE. THIS MAKES MAKES ME TOTALLY SICK. THE REALLY SAD THING IS THAT I'M AT THEIR MERCY. I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AGAIN!

I have had a similar experience with GE Money through their Care Credit division. In October 2009 I had to have emergency surgery to remove my Galbladder. I had a 2cm gallstone and if it manages to flow into the bile duct, it can explode your gallbladder causing bile to get into your blood (jaundice) and then you need to have major surgery to remove all of pieces of the gallbladder. If it does get to this point, it could also kill you. The surgery center wouldn't do the surgery until I paid in full. I was litterally at the surgery center arguing with the office manager while the surgeon was waiting. I have insurance, but it has a $1500 deductible which I had not planned on using all at once.

Anyways, they convinced me to get a Care Credit card for $500. I make good money and I knew I would pay it off before any interest was due (6 mo.). I made my first payment online before it was due and for more than the minimum amount. I received a call from an automated system on my cell phone one day at work. I don't answer incoming automated calls so I hung up. They called back soon after so I decided to listen to what they had to say. To my suprise my Care Credit bill had not been paid. I was shocked. The automated service put me on hold, after calling me and then told me there weren't enough people to answer my call. Please call back at another time. You called me Care Credit! I called back and spoke to "Adam Smith" in India. He told me the payment had been reversed because my account information had been entered incorrectly. I pay all my bills online and I have never had this problem. In addition, they had given me a late fee, returned payment which put me over my limit so I was given an overlimit fee. "Adam" told me that if I paid him $100 today he would remove all those fees. I was glad to make the payment. I like paying my bills and always do so on time.

December comes and I decided to pay off the rest of the account $400 with some Christmas money I'd received. I made the payment online, knowing that this is the part that tripped me up last time I double checked the account numbers. Remember, I like to pay my bills and was paying the balance before anything was due. Suprise, suprise in January I received a statement for $520.98. What?!? I called India again and the guy I spoke to said the payment had been reversed again. How could this possibly happen? I told him I wanted to pay the $400 I owe them without the $15 phone fee. I also told him I was not going to pay a penny in fees. I tried to pay my bill - twice. Apparently you don't want the money. He said he couldn't remove the $15 phone payment fees. I explained to him that I don't trust the website, since it's worked so well in the past. He wouldn't do it so I asked to speak to someone who could. I got an "accelation specialist" (American) and they told me the same. I told them I refused to pay a fee to make my payment. They gave me an address in Florida. Tomorrow I will mail them a check for $400 and not a penny more. If they want their fee money, they can sue me. Good luck! Put it on my credit report. I own my house, my car and have a college degree. See if I care. I don't need credit anymore.

Bottom line: GE Money and Care Credit is a scam. They make it impossible to make your payments on time and then charge you fees structured to incur additional fees which you cannot control nor remove. I wish I would have had the opprotunity to research this company before I signed that credit card application. This company is terrible and I will NEVER do business with GE Money or GE anything ever again.
