My promotional purchase (fees for dental service) was to become due on June 6/11/06. On 5/14/06 I had my credit card send an electronic payment for the entire principle of the loan. I have the confirmation number of this transaction. For some unknown reason, which GE Money Bank has refused to explain, this payment was returned to my credit card. Immediately upon the notice of its return, I sent a letter to them asking for the reason for the return of the electronic payment. I have the letter from my credit card company to substantiate this rejection. I then replied with two payments within the specified time. I was overseas at the time, and although I immediately made payment, GE Money Bank did not credit the payments to my account until June 17, 2006. Of course, this made the payment APPEAR to be delinquent. Since then, I have sent at least 9 letters, including documentation, called their toll free number numerous times. Each time I called I was told to put my complaint in writing. Each written response was followed with a form letter asking me to phone their toll free number. One representative suggested that I might FAX the information. I did this TWICE and never received the courtesy of a reply. Meanwhile, the account has been referred to a collection agency and finally to an attorney. The total amount GE claims that I now owe in finance charges and late fees is $2,126.76 ALL IN INTEREST and LATE FEES. Although the federal and state consumer regulations state that the creditor must answer written complaints within a specified time, this has yet to be done.

I had 4 different accounts with GEMB. 1 account, the limit was decreased and they gave me that same line about my credit history (which has improved since I got the card), 1 account was closed and they gave me the line "it was due to inactivity." How is the account inactive and I just paid it off in January. Since the other 2 accounts are still open but are paid off, I am sure they will be closed soon as well. This companies actions reduced my credit score and kept me from refinancing my mortgage.
Thank you GEMB for ruining my credit and screwing me over royally.

PS I hope they get what's coming to them since they are taking advantage of seems like all of their customers during this time of economic struggles.

GE Money has continuously added unnecessary fees to my credit card account for the past several months. I purchased a lawn mower through Lowe's in May 08, which was advertised as "no interest for 12 months" when you use your Lowe's credit card (managed by GEMB). Everything was okay for the first few months. I always made my payments online, and would sometimes make two payments within a month. Then I started receiving telephone calls...sometimes 7 or 8 calls within an hour...from GEMB insisting that I was overdue, and that even though I had made a payment, I hadn't paid the "late" fees, and that immediate payment is due "or else". I informed all of the operators that I spoke with that I always paid the amount due shown on my online statement. The operators insisted that there were new fees that I hadn't paid. For months I would argue with them and tell them that I am current because I pay what is shown as due. The arguments were futile...they still continue to call, sometimes as late as 11 p.m. at night, or as early as 6 a.m., and they are typically very rude, and difficult to understand because of heavy accents. I have had it with this company, and although I don't want to harm my credit, my final resort is to just not send any payments. I've sent this company thousands of dollars, and the balance never goes down because they shift the payment due date, or the interest rate (because they say I was late, even though I wasn't). At this rate, the card will never be paid off, and my only hope is to just quit paying.

I have just recieved a letter from GE Money Bank stating they are closing my account due to Delinquency payments in the last 12 months. This account was never delinquent and in a matter of fact has been paid in full for over 6 months .
Now this is on my credit report in which I have to dispute . This company sucks and I believe these retailer must stop using GE Money Bank to get these buyers credit .
I will dispute this legally and I will win .
Thank you, and everyone beware ...
Sincerly,

First off--they have a rating of A+ with the BBB (Better business bureau)- the only way to make these people change the way they work is to file complaints with the BBB. The more complaints they make, the more it will reflect negatively on them and the more people will know what a MOB-LIKE BUSINESS they are!

I sent 9 bill payments (all due by the 20th) in through the mail on the 6th of the month. All but GE Moneys was received and cashed withing 10 days. GE Money didn't cash the check for 20 days! Then they charged me a late fee AND raised my APR three times what it started at! They then told me that I had to prove that I sent in the check when I said I did and that there was no way to do that so I was screwed. Even thought I had copies of all the other bills that were paid at the same time and cashed by the companies within 10 days, they refused to work with me at all! On top of that- they friggin hung up on me because I was so upset and yelling at them!

The same thing has been happening to me. I paid them $679.00 and another $200.00, which not only made my account "paid in full, " but overpaid by a little over $120.00. I received the same harassing phone calls for about a year, and after they received a letter from my lawyer, they sold my account to one collection agency after another. We found out that they applied the two payments to someone else who had my first initial and last name, but a completely different account number--total incompetence on GEMB's part.

This issue has been unresolved since 2006. Though GEMB was sent check copies, bank statements, and automatic payment histories from my bank, they refuse to correct their mistakes. It is now 2009, and my credit score is low because of them. I just got off the phone with my lawyer, and I fully intend to sue them for their negligence. I advise you to do the same because this is the ONLY way that you will get any justice from these criminals!

GE Money has lowered the credit limits on all 4 of my good accounts with them; they also cancelled one fully paid up account that I used for repairs to my home. They claim it was due to a review of my credit report, which until they upped the "good" credit numbers, was fairly good. This damaged my credit score and report because they lowered my credit limits to the current balance amount, so that rather than being at a reduced debt:limit percentage, I am now at maximum. I am told there is nothing I can do about it. I would happily join a class action suit for arbitrarily damaging my credit.

I recieved a letter last month stating that my interest rate was being raised without legible explanation. I have had this account for about 2 years and have always made my payments ontime and stayed well under my credit limit. This month they closed my account. They stated that after a credit review they decided I was a high risk customer. This made no sense to me because my credit has significantly improved in the two years I have had the card. Has this happened to anyone else. If so did they increase your APR before closing your account.

Good luck getting anything from G E Money Bank except grief!
I financed dental work through them - big mistake! I have paid over the minimum payment and paid early every month. They hold each payment until the due date to make sure they get to charge the full amount of interest. I cannot tell you how many payments they have "failed to receive" so they charged me late fees...
I realized that my payment for this month had not yet cleared my bank, so I called them to inquire about it. Guess what? - they didn't receive it (again). I told them I had finally got fed up with their inability to track payments or post them on time, so I wanted to obtain the payoff balance.
They quoted my balance and I explained that I was sending them yet another check (this time for the payoff amount).
Now I am receiving harassing calls on my cell phone because I am past due - they haven't received my last check either! And guess what - since it is late they are charging me late fees for that too!
I could understand one or two checks over the life of the loan failing to reach their destination... things happen and the mail system isn't perfect; but to lose 4 or 5 payments a year (I've counted 16 lost checks since May 2006) tells me something is VERY wrong!
My next payment is going to be by cashier's check and sent by certified mail - let 'em explain missing that one!

I'm having the same problems with GEMoney. I just found this site and can't believe that it's been 3 years since the first post here and still nothing has been done about this company? Has a class action suit been started? If not, it sure needs to be. This cannot go on. Obama said he wants to crack down on the overcharges by credit cards...well, this looks like a prime example for that. Think a letter to Obama will do any good?

It sounds like a scam because in this economy anyone who steps 1/10th of an inch out of line, as this pushy individual apparently did, can be replaced with an eager job applicant who will probably work for less just to escape unemployment.

In general, never agree to answer personal questions from someone who cannot identify themselves by name. Even if you see a business card or ID, insist on calling the number or seeing the vehicle. It's a lot harder to fake a legitimate vehicle than it is a business card. Remember, also, that wou have a right to shut the door in the individual's face on the grounds that you refuse to answer any questions that come with an "attitude" or an unwillingness to clearly identify who or what product or service they represent. Anyone who really as a legitimate job will learn something about the value from sweet talk that way. However, even certain crooks know how to sweet talk!

First, I would contact GE to ask if they have anyone doing that sort of data collection. They probably don't, and you were being cased for a potential robbery of your residence. Call GE at: +[protected].

Finally, I would highly advise you to file a police report, particularly if you saw that individual get into a personal vehicle and not one that appeared to have a clean exterior with the company logo. Give a name, description, date and approximate time to the police department that serves your area. Also, while you are at it, ask any other neighbors if they were questioned by this individual and compare notes. If the impression is generally suspicious, urge them to file a report as well. Even if this fellow turns out to be legit, he deserves to be fired. This will do the trick, either way.

Ref.# 6673

To whom it may Concern,

I writing you this letter to Dispute the allegations your company is doing. I have been receiving phone calls from G E Money Bank telling me that I owe $8 thousand and some dollars because I had dental work done or that I open an account with a so call, John Cohen DDS. Located on 14306 Victory Blvd. van Nuys Cal. 91401 . Which I never seen or been to his office .

Dough Welch at GEM. Bank advised me to go to the dental office to see what was going on since I insisted it was not me, so when I went in the staff in charge of billing could not even find me in their computer system and she said even if I was an old PT going back 4 years I would be in the system but I wasn’t so she didn’t know and either did I, why I was sent to a collection agency in the first place since my name or my social # could not be found in their system. But yet G E Money Bank alleges I had service done their or I open such an account. G E Money Bank has all my info. Except my address don’t know how their could be such a mixture in information but obviously there’s been some type of FRAUD committed here with my Identity . Please revised your information and investigate such act because this is costing me great deal of disturbance in my life. As for know I’m taking this to the Consumer Affairs to make a report on your Company and the Dental office.

Thank you and do not hesitate to ask any further questions

Sincerely ;
e.l

All of these complaints should be forwarded to the Banking Commission with a request for review. The Banking Commission takes complaints very seriously.

Keep copies of everything you do, every transaction you attempt to correct the situation, every person you talk with; every phone call you make; be sure to write down names, dates and time of your phone conversations along with the telephone number that you were speaking with for reference. If you can, go into your telephone account and take a copy of the call to prove you made the call. Forward copies of everything to your state's Senator with a cover letter telling him/her about your complaint and all of the things you have done to rectify the situation. Do the same with the Banking Commission. If you have to, send copies along with your complaint to the Congress, to the head of the Banking Committee. Also, post your complaint all over the internet... it will make the bank very uncomfortable and maybe this will encourage them to stop giving you the run-around.

Have you thought about filing a "class action lawsuit" against Care Credit/GE Money Bank? My husband and I are realizing from soooooo many complaints against this fraudulant company - that SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE! We, too, are getting smacked with erroneous finance charges after we made a huge final payment of over $1, 800 a month ago...
Any "honest" lawyers out there want to take on this case? They need to be stopped! Especially, when all their "customer service reps" can give out is a P.O. Box address in el Paso, TX...NOT GOOD ENOUGH!
thanx, ryg

My card was stolen. I wanted to make a payment on my balance and they told me I could not make a payment online toward my balance until I receive my new card. I explained that since my payment is due in a couple days that I will not be able to wait for the new card to make a payment, nor will I have enough time to mail a payment. I asked to make a payment over the phone. They said I can do that but there is a charge for that. I asked them to waive the charge since my card was stolen (not my fault) and they did not advise me that I could not make a payment once they canceled my card. "Jerry" said they cannot make exceptions. I asked to speak to his supervisor. I was given to "Justin" in the "escalation department" who told me the same thing. Justin was rude the entire time, mocking what I said and refusing to answer questions about who handles complaints at their corporate office (he would not give me a department name to make my complaint attention to). On top of that, when I asked for more detail about what we had already discussed, he said to me verbatem "Do you have any thing of substance to discuss mam? I've already expalained that we can't help you and I'm not trying to be rude but we have other customers who have problems we need to figure out."

Please refrain from applying for credit cards or loans in the future. This also applies to your husband and his mother. You are one of the growing number of people who do not seem to understand how these things work, and drag down our economy in the process.

There is almost a 100% chance these people will stop paying their bills and leave our banking system on the hook for the money.

I was treated very rudely by a rep whom flat out told me "That is not my problem, it is your problem that your payment was late'. I told him he was rude and asked for his name and he says 'I already gave it to you'. I couldn't believe my ears! I reminded him that the conversation may be recorded and that's when he gave to me. I then asked to talk to a supervisor and he transferred my call but no one ever came. I decided to call the next morning and when I did the lady supervisor was just as rude, yelling on the phone to me. I told her that she was not acting like a professional and that I wished to speak to another supervisor and she said that no one else was available at the time. By this time I was really upset and I insisted to speak to a supervisor of another ethnicity. I preferred a hispanic, anglo, or african american. She connected me to another supervisor but not of a different ethnic group. He was of the same ethnicity. I am concerned if there is anyone else other than that ethnic group working there. And if not, then this company is not only guilty of fraud but also of race discrimination. I can't believe what they are getting away with. And by the way, I accumulated late charges because I made one payment too early on the same day that the billing cycle changed. They could care less about our reasons. If any company deserves a class suit, this is it and I am in!

Totally agree I'm having same problems. GE money bank has JCPenny and Walmart for customers I paid off JC penny Feb /9 online. When next statements came in I threw then in the trash because I didn't owe them anything right. Well I finally opened one up to she if they had coupons were in there for Fathers Day coming up and noticed 256.00 owed What that's paid off? So I started calling to see what happened they were not helpful at all they said because my account and been turned over to collection department they couldn't see info on my account anymore. Well I called the number they gave me and they said there were just there to collect They would take my money to get account current but JCPenny would have to take the info off the credit bureau I have where the last payment came out of my checking account and all legal documents saying it was payed off the remainder is interest and late charges. One tells me they can't help me call the other and the other tell me to call them I don't know what to do and on top of all the the following week I get a refund check for the exact amount the final payment was I ask why would they send the money back from 4 months ago I told them that money was not mine no one could tell me what to do. The last phone call was over 45 min then I got disconnected. My credit is going down the toilet> As a result Walmart has lower my available credit to just what I owe I just have found out their affiliated with GEMoney Can any body tell me what I can do? They got the last Payment they will ever get from me...Please sell my Debt to a company that is American based with People that know what they are doing and I will repay Agreed amount with interest..until then ..NO WAY I am done playing the game!

I also dealt through GE Money Bank, unbeknown by me, Wal-mart, also is under them or I'd have nothing to do with their credit! It started out when I needed dental services using "care credit". They drove me crazy from day one, said I missed the first two payments, that's when my nightmare began...I started paying each month from the first bill I received from that company, but according to them I already was two months behind! I got a call two to three times a day from GE Money bank without fail, I was going crazy, trying to understand poor speaking English people, for one, and two, I could not make them understand that I was never late with my payment and that I should not owe late fees and finance charges. I realized that no matter what I said they did not want to hear it. I was just as rude if not more than they were every conversation we had. The calls started from 8:00am and every few hours daily, it was insane. I never want to go through that ever again. The way my problem was resolved was when there was a class action law suit against the dental place, I jumped at the chance to tell my whole story to the Attorney General's office here in Pa, stressing my biggest problem was the "care credit" account, and how I was overcharged and mislead by this company. When they read my complaint along with all copies of my bills, in order, they gave GE Money Bank a chance to defend their self to make a fair decision in my case, and they did not reply within the allotted time frame and it was decided, in my favor, and GE Money Bank had to repay me back for all charges and the balance was paid in full. Right then I knew they had something to hide, but all in all I sleep better at night and I don't receive any more threatening calls. As far as Wal- Mart. I still have their card but for how long, I really don't know. Good luck to everyone dealing with this company, they should be investigated and closed down. I'm ever so grateful my episode is over and I thank God for my chance to be heard! Diane Guidas 6-18-09

I am having the same nightmare as everyone else. Electronic payments sent by my bank on time and not received by care credit until they are one day late and adding $39. each time. Bills due on holidays and paid early but not credited since it was, after all, a holiday. They will find some way of getting money out of you one way or another. DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!

For all of you out there with complaints and no one to listen to them, here are a couple of phone numbers that are current and good, I just used them. The first is the corporate office number in New York City but to use that one you need the name of a corporate office, look on the ge website. I used Mark Begor. New York number is [protected] and don't let the receptionist intiminate you, I think she takes lessons in it.
Mark Begor's number is: [protected]. Be nice to his assistant because she is a nice lady.
The last number is to Corporate Relations: [protected]. I spoke with Cindy Lockyer and she was quite helpful. Don't get discouraged. Maybe if enough of us call, they will get rid of the call centers in India and bring the work back to the US where it belongs.

For all those who have complaints about GE Money Bank:

I work for them. I am the one you talk to when you call in with these concerns/questions/issues. May i please offer some advice?

1) Make a note on your calendar for 30 days after you have had work/service done, or when you purchased something. If you have not received anything from us in all that time, CALL US! It's toll free! [protected]. If you don't have the account number, that's fine. We can also find you with your social security number, and sometimes your home phone number.

2) Please, please, PLEASE look CAREFULLY at your first statement. I don't care what the merchant/store is telling you you got, you need to look at your bill. We are the ones who might end up charging you finance charges, so it's our bills you need to look at. The promotional purchase summary is there for a reason. If it's not right, WE CAN POSSIBLY STILL FIX IT, but it's going to take some legwork on your part. BE WILLING TO.

3) If you have more than one purchase on your account, this is another good reason to look at your bill closely. Unless you call us AFTER YOUR PAYMENT POSTS to the account, we will allocate it (put it on your purchases) the way we always have. THIS MAY RESULT IN FINANCE CHARGES BEING ADDED. If you don't want that to happen, then call us to reallocate your payment(s)!

4) Please remember GE is a GLOBAL company, so of COURSE we have call centers overseas. If you have trouble understanding someone with us that has an accent, all you have to do is ask to be transferred to a rep in the United States. We all understand that, and no one will refuse to transfer you if you ask.

5) There is such a thing as a cycle date. Look at your bill...we mail them the exact same day each month. This means that your bill (on most accounts) will be due 23 days after that. If your due date falls on a weekend, then you need to make sure you pay by the Friday before. If your due date is on a holiday, then you need to pay on the business day before. THERE IS NO GRACE PERIOD!

I'm sure I could think of about a hundred things more, but that covers the bare necessities. In closing I would like to say...

...Please remember we are human too. We have good days and bad days. You'll have more success with us if you don't loose your temper. Please don't use foul language. Please realize there are limitations to what we can do for you on the phone. Some things may HAVE to be wrote in for, no matter how much that might bother you. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

Here is what has me mad as hell with GE Money Bank. I had two scooters that I used them as the finance company. Well they are all paid off and guess what no title in hand. It has been over twenty days since the account was paid off. Here is what I don't get. When I called these [censored] they are telling me they have 30 days to get the titles to me. Bull you have ten under VA Law.

I have a chevron credit card which is issued by GEMB with a credit line of $500. I use, or used, this card for my business which buys about $800 worth of gasoline each month. Because of the difference between credit line and amount charged I always sent in a payment mid month to keep the purchases going. I have always been ahead of the payments, no where near a delinquency.

Just to ensure a payment was never missed I enrolled in auto payments. Last month I made my early payment bringing the balance down from nearly $500 to about $100. A few more charges went though from employees and was about $250 by the end of the month. However, no payment was due, because of the earlier payment of $400. The system automatically charged the remaining balance, even though not yet due. At the time the business checking account was overdrawn and the payment was declined. Again, it wasn't due. Since I saw this problem could continue in the future, I decided to stop auto payments and put this account onto bill pay so I could control when the payments went out. I figured I didn't need any more near $30 charges.

A few days later I sent in my payment to bring the balance down below the credit limit. I noticed payment was received, however the credit line had not gone back up. I called and spoke to numerous uncaring people. I finally got who I was told was a supervisor. This woman told me that because my electronic payment was declined I now have a 21 day hold on all payments. I told her that this was sent by bill pay and the money was already debited from my account. I can't bounce. She said it doesnt matter, the fact I had a returned check (which was untrue..it was a declined auto payment) all future payments for the next 2 years will be held for 21 days.

I explained that this payment wasn't due yet, it was charged to a business, I have never been late and I have corrected this problem. I also explained that I use this card to purchase over $800 a month in fuel. She said it doesnt matter, once a charge or check is declined the 21 day hold comes into play. I offered to send a chasiers check and she said it would do no good. All payments will be held for 21 days.

So now my Chevron card is useless for business. I will keep it for very limited personal use when I can afford to wait 21 days to get credit for my payments. I will now use my Union 76 card for business and Chevron has just lost a customer. Apparently they don't need my business that badly. I know I'm small, but $800 a month is more than most people buy in gas.

I found GEMB to be ridiculous in their policies and have no understanding of situations. They are stuck in a scripted system and when X happens they will do Y. They don't care to know why or how something happened. Even when you never pay late, they can hold your money for 21 days because according to their computer you are now a credit risk.

I think this was so pathetic it makes me sick.

Thank you all that have posted a complaint. I was about to purchase a flat screen TV thru Walmart. Which by the way they advised me to apply for their credit card. But then another customer advised me to Google GEMB before I made the biggest mistake of my life. Well, good thing I did. With all the stories I just read, I came to the conclusion that I will not ever do business w/ anyone and/or company that’s backed by GEMB!

Well, I got good results from my state's banking commission regarding these scammers. I wrote them the letter copied below about a month and a half ago.. Today I called GE MB ready to tell them that there was no way in hell I was going to pay them any interest or penaltiess. Before actually getting connected to a third world person, I was told my balance was zero and my credit limit had been raised from $5000 to $5500. Fat chance I will have anything to ever do with them again after the angst they put me through. In any case, the state of CT came through for me.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
On November 15. 2007, I had lasik surgery at Lasik Plus in Orange CT. I put $50 down in cash with Lazik Plus and financed the remaining $2950 through GE Money Bank. The terms of the loan were that if I made minimum payments monthly of $62 (?) on the 15th of each month and paid the principle in full by May 15, 2009, the loan would be interest fee. I set up 18 monthly electronic transfers of $164 (18 x $164 = $2952) through my bank (Citibank)on the 8th of each month to insure they would be paid well in advance. The first 17 payments were made from December 8 through April 8 of 2009. I made the final payment on April 14, 2009, a month in advance. I have all my bank statements to prove these payments.

This Saturday morning I got a call from a customer service rep for GE Money Bank requesting that I pay $35 in remaining principle and $658 in interest. To say I was outraged is putting it mildly.

Not once did I receive a statement in the mail from this bank so if they pulled some shenanegans regarding changes in the agreement, a was never made aware of it. I got an email every month with my statement but never signed up for it so never looked at it. I saw no reason to.

I deleted GE Money Bank as a payee from my computer when I paid the balance off. I just spent 30 minutes on the phone and they will not even provide me with the account number until my "ebill" is sent on June 8th.

I have been online to see what I could find out about GE Money Bank and was shocked. Here is the site

GE Money Bank — Cheating customers!

I absolutely refuse to pay these thieves and hate the thought that it will damage my very good credit rating. I want this to go away. Any help you can provide me will be greatly appreciated

Thank you,

I hate to get started on my complaints. These have made me so mad that I got tangled up with these thieves. I opened a Rooms To Go Account in 2004 and am still paying on this mess 5 years later. I had a Care Credit account through my dentist and paid this off quickly. I had not used it in a while and the fools closed my account. I guess because they weren't making any money off me from this one. The Rooms To Go is so messy. I scheduled my own payments on their website and somehow after my last June 30th 2009 payment, the link to schedule on my next paydate somehow disappeared! I called and all you get are people from India and they have no clue as to customer service of any kind. How can you work everyday and deal with the same issues and give people the run around, but you know how to call and worry them to death over money, threaten people and add late fees and outrageous claims to their bills? I want to file a class action lawsuit as well. I want my $4, 000 balance paid off by them and let them get a taste of their own medicine. They jack up interest and promotional rates, finance charges and late fees for no reason. They are taking advantage of people and should be stopped. I live in NC. Should I contact my attorney general's office? With all of the banks folding in this economy, thisone needs to be brought to light and nit bailed out by the US citizens!

Anybody know or heard about them changing 30 days of billing to 23 days on Walmart? I wonder what's up with that? I'll be glad to get rid of Walmart and JcPenney credit...

High rates, high fees, sounds like more than questionable practices ... I'm going out this afternoon to cancel my Sam's Credit, or try to. I have no patience for that kind of stuff. Any games and I'll be on 'em like white on rice with a lawyer.
