Very poor quality craftsmanship from head to toe. I would never choose gehan homes again. Your salesperson and foreman will change multiple times during your building process and the initial of living in your home. There will be no consistency in addressing issues; put everything in writing. Do not have verbal conversations with gehan at all. The foreman will not be around at all to inspect what you expect. I've work from home and have watched homes around us go up. I see the foreman once every 2 weeks if that. The subcontractors don't give a crap about your house and apparently neither does gehan's foremen. Examples of poor craftsmanship: entire closets installed despite an upgrade to move it; entire garage bay poured despite clearly (In writing removing it), non-matching windows installed; windows left uncovered in rain and once installed they rusted; 90% inaccurate electrician who didn't have a copy of our plan; mismatching interior fixtures; hand painted cabinets; mis-matching cabinet doors; gate installed backwards; landscaping wall massively crooked; 1/2 of patio left unstained; banister rails mismatched; etc. Get the idea? When proactively and professionally addressed with their area vp he told us if our observations impeded their work they would break the contract... That was until he found out how much we were putting down (Thus removing a lot of financial risk for them). I issues got fixed but it should have never come to this. It's also validating as we've met our neighbors how many horrible stories they, too, have with gehan homes. We've lived in our home less than a year and i'm ready to sell.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I agree! We purchased our home 7 months ago and have quality issues galore! The original sales person did not include an option on the initial sales contract even though I asked about it when I did not see it listed as an option. He indicated that it was a standard and did not need to be included. There were several items in the model home that we questioned i.e. stair rails, wall color, size of tile, to name a few that he said were not upgrades. We found out differently once we went to the design center. Once moved in, our AC fan fell off and was sitting on the inside of the unit. When we called the sales office they basically blew us off and said to call the vendor since the house already closed it was not their issue. We were only in the house for 2 weeks in the middle of a Texas summer! The floor caulk in the half bathroom and the entry way is already pulling away from the surface. Looks horrible and this is not covered by any warranty...this was noticed during two weeks after moving in, too. I could go on with the issues that we have had with our house and it has only been 7 months! Will not purchase another Gehan home. The design center was horrible too!
Can I ask where you guys are located? I'm in Houston, Texas and am thinking of purchasing a Gehan home in Tomball area. Please advise.
Yes, please say where you are, because this was not my experience at all. I live in Dallas, have a Gehan home, and I love it. My salesperson has been at the community for years as far as I've heard from neighbors and all of my neighbors love our community. I just closed on my place 6 months ago and my home was a spec house that had sat for 6 or 7 months. My builder is always around and he even texts/calls us when there's leftover stone to grab some before it gets picked up. He's even dropped off light bulbs at my house just in case mine went out. Everything in my house is good and I've had not one problem at all. I'm probably gonna move up to a larger house with Gehan once we save up more money.
That sounds about right.
Kings Mill Subdivision DO NOT BUY or CLOSE UNTIL YOU HAVE YOUR OWN SURVEY!
I live in Kingwood, TX and the contractors and Foreman that they hire to build and manage are terrible and the worst ever! Once you close on the house the Foreman cares a rats a** about the defects to your newly purchased home/INVESTMENT. They are so concerned with closing on houses than keeping up with warranty issues that need to be completed. Let me tell you if you ever purchase a new home especially Gehan Homes make sure that you do your own Survey inside and out. These houses are built so fast and a lot of things are missed, completed incorrectly, cheaply constructed. I have had main issue with my drainage from the backyard to the front yard and have yet to get anyone to fix it correctly. The foreman named Scott is terrible with everything. Gehan sent workers to fix drainage and they placed plastic drain pipes that lead no where but tried to cover it up by making an indention that made it look like it was draining to the back of my fence and to the front yard. Gehan workers are so misleading and there has to be a stop to this. Make sure that you don't close on a house until you look over the property 3-4 times over and all issues are fixed to your liking. Trust me they are quick to close and screw you in warranty issues that should of been fixed before you closed.
