Georgia Power power outage

Last night made the 2nd outage in 09 days at my home. I understand the risk of putting techs out in such weather. However I am extremely disappointed in the fact that we are always without power overnight and my neighborhood seems to be the last one each time to get power restored. I notice this because I have family that live in different parts of the town and their power is always restored that night and not the next day. Ga power estimates is always wrong which has caused us to lose a refrigerator full of food twice in 09 days. They don't apologize or anything. I'm starting to wonder why we don't have other options for power companies because Ga. Power is getting terrible.

Georgia Power frequent power outages

We are experiencing our 3rd power outage in 3 weeks due to bad thunderstorms. You never have correct estimate time for power to be restored. You're constantly evaluating restoration time. REALLY! We didn't have this problem before Georgia Power upgraded our transformers. Our neighborhood has underground utilities. I am really getting sick of this inconvenience and I want a credit to my power bill. You should have left the old transformers alone. They never went out during a thunderstorm 😠

Georgia Power behavior/negative representation of the georgia power company

Date of Incident - 03/15/2017

- I own a small retail store in Augusta, GA in which we are a subscriber of your services. In almost every encounter I have ever had with Georgia Power, I have been treated with the utmost service and respect. However, today while I was the provider of services, assisting my customers with the best possible service, I was met with a challenge.

One of your Atlanta Area employees traveling through Augusta, GA, called my retail location from your company provided wireless phone (404.680.9606) to place a personal order. We gladly accepted his order and prepared it for his arrival (which he indicated would be around noon). He placed the order under his name (Dwight Stephens). My employees began to fill his order; however, he arrived prior to 11am and the order was not quite complete. Given this it became obvious that Mr. Stephens was annoyed/unhappy that his order was not ready. We completed his order and he proceeded to check out. Upon check out, Mr. Stephens expressed his dislike for our charge for an additional fee as his order was a special order and required additional product to complete. After the charge was explained to him politely, he expressed his anger and dislike of the charge. He went on to express how he drives in from Atlanta and that his money is important and we did not want to loose his business and that we were not aware of his importance. This behavior and tone that was not anything reflective of what any Georgia Power employee has ever handled me personally or professional as I am a customer in both categories. I only write this compliant as Mr. Stephens was wearing the Georgia Power branding/logo, badge and he called from the Georgia Power wireless phone number.

As a customer that spends an average of $2500/monthly, I would be appreciative to receive the same level of care and consideration by any member of the Georgia Power organization whether I am the customer or the vendor as I am sure you all have corporate standards/policies to guide your employees on appropriate behavior when representing Georgia Power as well as when it is appropriate to use company time/resources to complete personal agenda.

I apologize for the compliant; however, as a business owner and consumer, I would want to be alerted when my business was not represented in the manner that matches the standards that I know Georgia Power strives to attain.

Thank you in advance for your time!

Georgia Power electric

We are experiencing a power outage right now. There was a storm, a bit of wind and rain and then our power and most of the neighborhood's power is out. This occurs too regularly. A small thunderstorm should not take the power down so often. I have lived in other parts of the country with more extreme weather and fewer (maybe a few in my memory) power outages. The lack of service and frequency of outages is unacceptable. Our neighborhood, Kirkwood, experiences these outages regularly. Do something. No it isn't the squirrels, The places I've lived before had squirrels, and trees too. Not buying excuses. Provide our service or discount/lower prices if you cannot.

Georgia Power customer service

I just recently moved here from New York 3 months ago. I had to wait a close to a month before getting paid and as a result my bill fell past due. I made a payment of $130 and unfortunately the payment was returned. Then on January 19th my power was turned off. There was no disconnection notice, no call or anything from customer service advising me that my service would be cut off by a certain period of time. I called customer service today and was advise that I was charged a $30 return check fee, a $50 reconnection fee and a $120 deposit although I already have a $150 deposit on file. So essential someone moves here, has no clue how things work, received no notification and is now forced to pay $200 additional and they are already struggling with the bill? I contacted a supervisor, Kenny Ext. 31292 in hope that he would be willing to work with me at a least waive some of these fees. I received no sympathy, nor understanding regarding this situation. I am a single parent of 2 small children and I have fish that all rely on electricity. How can you force someone to pay an additional $200 for a necessity when they are already struggling to pay the bill? I am just requesting that someone please waive some of these fees.

Georgia Power my billing statement

I relocated sept 2015. My social security stopped may 2016, I also work. I spoke with a ga power agent making a payment arrangement on my bill months later after ssi ended. My bill was high, I was trying to pay it down quickly as I could.
Noticing later I was tagged with a deposit that I missed somehow.
Paying on my bill, and earnestly trying to get my social security check started.
My power bill was steadily decreasing due to my increased effort. I spoke with georgia power agent once more for a payment arrangement for only a few days later. Never did she say they would tag on a deposit she only stated there would be a late fee for a "few dollars". My social security was finally starting back up at the end of october 2016.
I kept my word and paid, my bill was lower. I'm looking to pay my bill fully, my bill comes and they doubled it ! Up to over $300. They added on another deposit.
How do they expect for you to pay your bill down, and do all that you can; they can see that my bill and usage was decreasing. You see that i've lowered and paid it, i've spoken with an agent who says nothing about a deposit will be tagged on... And then, georgia power pushes me back... Again? Seriously. This is totally not fair, at all. I'm not satisfied. Called ga power, asking "why would you do that, when i've worked so hard to pay this bill down, even spoke to an agent, then tag on a deposit the equivalent of my bill? The most that she could say is i'm sorry your social security stopped. No I worked to get it back and I did, and tried to get my bill down. I got my bill down. Now this?

Georgia Power customer service to establish account and power to my house I just bought

12/02/2016
no number atm since I'm a new customer. I called to establish account and upon purchasing the house I faxed the documents they said I needed to finish the process on 12/01/2016 1355pm. On 12/01/2016 my power was shutoff, because there was apparently no one associated with the power meter any longer, and my account was still not activated or approved or whatever the process may be. This was 23 hours later when I called to complain and nothing was still showing for my paperwork. found out through my family after they called that my paperwork apparently was not clear, 23 hours later with no response from them to my point of contact email or phone number. I have refaxed it since finding through family not Georgia Power about my paperwork. Was unable to speak to supervisors due to them being unavailable, I was told I couldn't wait for one.

Georgia Power service disconnected while on life support

Hello my Name is Jacqueline Morris and I have a six year old daughter who was born with a muscular dystrophy. My daughter is trach vent dependent. Along with her ventilator my daughter has a lot of medical equipment, such as a feeding machine, oxygen, a humidifier for her vent, etc. I lost my job a few months back and as result I wasn't able to pay my bill. I put medical holds on the lights, and made arrangements to try and find employment and help with my bills. Long story short my service was disconnected on yesterday. I spoke with corporate and others but was told there was nothing they could do because I didn't keep the arrangement. I'm contacting and reaching out to any and everyone I can to shed light on how families with life support equipment are treated.

Georgia Power georgia power driver

While driving down highway 21 I got cut off by a georgia power truck . While following behind him he continued to weave in and out of traffic while doing 75 mph in a 55 mph zone. It is very unprofessional and very unsafe. The truck number is 153860 and license plate is PIY5539. It would be greatly appreciated if this matter was addressed.

Georgia Power billing / added fees

I live in a small ranch home in a shaded corner lot. During the summer days I keep the temp at 73-74 deg. I have had my home inspected for possible energy drainage & was told our home was solid. New energy efficient A/C system installed, and new roof put in when we bought the house 3yrs ago. I pay $534 in mortgage. My power bill is over $300/1200sq ft home. I also don't have cable or watch tv. All fans off during the day, and no overhead lighting, just a small lamp in the living room.
I moved to a small town and bought a house I could afford. I never thought I wouldn't be able to afford groceries because I'm forced to do business with the only power company in my district. Forced into paying $90-100 in added on fees. How does my "energy efficient" 1200 sq ft home consume that much energy? We also had someone from Georgia Power come inspect the home. Spotted nothing, so he gave us a blanket for our water heater. Really? It's summer, not winter. The power goes out weekly, and our town has one of the largest solar farms in the US.
How does our small, shaded home where we are mindful of energy cost so much? Even in college they gave me an itemized breakdown of everything I was paying for. My insurance company sends an itemized bill showing me every stitch, gauze, and bandaid I had to pay for, so why not for Georgia Power? A company that I'm paying more than half of what my mortgage costs?
I am considering talking with a lawyer, and family friend that has previously helped my mom, but am curious if anyone would want to go up against a company like GP?
Talking with GP has gotten me nowhere. They honestly could care less, and tried blaming us. Last year we cut off the A/C all together, and still no change in the bill. We called, and the rep told us that our bill was high bc it's summer and it's hot. She insisted we turn down the temp. It was off, and had been off. That's when they sent someone out 2 weeks later, only to be told nothing was wrong and gave us the heat blanket for the water heater. I feel like I'm in a prison and just want to know my options so I don't go completely broke and insane in the process.

Georgia Power I am sick and tired of ga power's abuse of power and their tyranny

I feel exhausted, at times I feel like giving up. GA Power is forcing me to pay $313.00 dollars on April 1 and I explained that I can't pay that amount until April 8.
I am tired of being forced to do business with certain companies. These companies monopolize our society and hurt the economy; "as the sole providers of a product or service, monopolies have no competition and no price restrictions. Monopolies use patents, mergers, and acquisitions to obtain industry dominance and prevent market entry. If left unmonitored and unregulated, monopolies can adversely affect businesses, consumers and even the economy"
http://smallbusiness.chron.com/monopoly-affect-business-consumers-70033.html

GA Power should stop bullying consumers. They should lower the cost of the initial current bill and stop all miscellaneous charges such as *$150.00 extra deposit charge (this is a wicked charge, taking advantage of low income, struggling customers that are barely making it). Why would anyone torture individuals that are already having a hard time paying their bill with an additional charge? Add this to GA Power's unethical practices. Also add unidentified charges such as *Environmental Compliance charge*Nuclear Construction Cost Recovery*Municipal Franchise Fee and a *High Sales tax (lower the sales tax)."

Another one of GA Power's unethical practices is the pressure they put on hard working Americans to pay at a certain time even if they do not have the money on the week that is due. Listen, most of us are living pay check to paycheck. I called GA Power to make arrangements and they told me that I will have until the 1st of April to pay a pass due amount which includes a $150 deposit. I told them that I am on a budget and can't pay until April 8th because I want to concentrate on my rent. They said NO!

I don't understand why a rich company like GA Power would treat their customers this way. It would be different if I said that I will not pay at all but I want to pay, I just need a few more days. I need my electricity to go to work and find a better paying job. I need GA Power to wait until April 8 please.

Georgia Power manager

I called Georgia Power to waive a deposit of $150 from my bill as I was hit with other emergencies and was unable to pay my bill on time. The manager explained that discrepancies were because of past due amounts, although they were paid by due date. I explained to her I did not see this online when I made the payments so the manager informed me to be an "educated consumer", which I found very offensive.

For a Manager to be in that position and to lecture your long time customer, who has been with Georgia Power for over last 25years, does not need to be told to be educated to read the bill when payments have been made on time all those years, and to come up with an offensive comment is not excusable.

I did not have any problem listening to that Manager but when I was told to be educated, was when I became absolutely furious and thought what right does that person have to tell their consumers to be educated, as we are the ones who keep their jobs going!

I am very upset about this as this Manager needs some training in guest service where education is she certainly required to carry on with this kind of responsibility with Georgia Power.

Georgia Power fraudulent collection removal

Hello,

thank god I am no longer in an area GP is serving.

With the help of the BBB I was promised that an fraudulent account collection would be removed from my credit.

Now it is on my credit twice. Not sure anymore if they don't do it even on purpose to get back on me. I called them, I wrote them, I had the BBB involved and they make it even worse. No care no nothing.

Just copy/paste standard answers.

This is really sad especially when you are in the process of buying a house.
Thanks a lot Georgia Power !

Georgia Power Overcharging utilities account

Dear Sir/Madam: We are extremely unhappy with the extremely expensive monthly billing that Georgia Power is allowed to charge our account monthly! Since Georgia Power operates a monopolized corporation (which we thought was illegal in America), this company doesn't have anyone to answer to which makes problems like ours extremely problematic! One person residing in a single family home, that ONLY uses electricity mostly between the hours of 7pm - 2pm daily, only uses the washer/dryer twice monthly, the dishwasher once weekly, and doesn't use the Main HVAC Central Heating/Air at all, shouldn't accumulate a monthly electricity bill that averages over $300 monthly, no way, no how! Please perform a full investigation as to the charges, rates, and accurate readings for our property located at: 317 Kimberly Court SW, Atlanta, Georgia 30311. Georgia Power Account # [protected] and phone number is [protected]. Thank you in advance for your help/assistance, as well as, your prompt reply to all request. Sincerely, SG LAWSON [protected]@gmail.com

Georgia Power made me pay on my ex's account.

July 2015 I went to get my power turned on at a new address. I was told that I had to pay a past due bill and $315 for a deposit. I paid $408 and the next day my power was on. When my first bill came (it was a week and a half late) i noticed that i was charged the deposit and the past due bill that i had already paid. I was informed that if i had the receipt that the money i had paid would be cried to my account. Unfortunately i could not find the receipt. I did not get a bill for August 2015 but received a notice saying that they needed the deposit and late fees. I went to the office in Conyers ga and i was informed that because my ex had called to see about getting power on at the same address i paid off his past due bill. I don't see how i can be charged for him since he never lived at the address with me. I was told based on the intention of him living there they could make me pay his account. Someone please explain to me how this makes any sense.

Georgia Power misleading customers

I have been a Georgia Power Customer for years.. I habve a two story home that is hard to cool in the summers without having a large electric bill. So about 7 yrs. ago I wnet on the flat bill plan.. Each year the pricerises.. So I received a letter in July that it was renewal time and that my bill was to be around $ 450.00. Ok call me crazy I did try it for 1 month. Unfortunately it did not fit into my budget it was a struggle to pay. So I called today Spet 8th to cancel out of the flat bill program . I was informed that I would have to pay $ 900.00 plus the cost of one more bill at $ 450.00 to opt out.. I was told if I didn't want the service I should have cancelled in July when it was to take effect August 1st.. I explained I wanted to try it to see if I could work it in the budget.. They offere NO ASSISTANCE at all. A supervisor is to contact me within 48 hours.. Really... Again another way Georgia Power can screw the customer. Thanks for nothing... I wish EMC was in my area.

I do agree they will mislead you as I was mislead in the prepaid program. I am been charge all of these extra fees and now I am concern if I should have a lawyer to look into all of my bill. I want to make sure they have never over charged me. This may be the start of a class act lawsuit. One I think it is fraud to switch customers and not letting them know the rates changes. And all the hidden fees are outrages. When you call into customer service they can be really rude at time, especially when they get a question they can't answer. At one time I as for a activity report, I add all of my charges together to come up with the total for the year: then I add up all I had paid for the year. It showed that I had paid 500.00 plus over and they tried to justify it and never fixed it. They are good at making arrangements, but also better at ripping you off.

I am sorry for what you are going through. I am too sick to work and am on disability. First you need to call the SS hotline and raise hell. I live in Oregon where resources are stretched to the max and the workers are cherry picking on who to give benefits too and looking the other way on other applicants and giving them benefits. My friends social worker told her that SSDI was insurance like unemployment that we get and pay into it from working so it is counted as that and not base on need. SSI is and you get all benefits if you are on SSI because it is such a low amount to live on. You need to also call your congressman or representative from Georgia. I had a problem with my disability case and wrote to my congressmen and after 12 years won my disability case. The world is turning into a press one button and its done kind of world and that is very wrong and that is what they want it all to be and people to all follow like sheep. They have no clue who we are and the heck we are going through. They know these smart meters are bad and will get them tremendous profits. Rite Aid which is a drug store made in 2014 almost 850 billion dollars last year. Companies' profits are obsene these days and they know it and we keep paying these jerks. They are not holding a gun to our head. Yet we keep buying their products making them richer and richer. I am very sorry and start by calling and writing both your congressmen and representatives and do not give up as to what is going on. The USA is so messed up and is getting worse all the time. Please keep trying and do not give up and God Bless You.

I agree with all of these comments and it is amazing to me how so many of us are being taken advantage of by these crooks. My position is what are we going to do about it? I work for the county and do not get paid a lot. I live by myself and I pay close to $200 per month and it continues to increase. I looked a t the bill and we are not only paying for electric usage we are also paying for other causes. Look at your bill and you will see. Let me give all of you a run down. This was for the billing period from May 3, 2015 - June 2, 2015. *Current Services-$169.75*Environmental Compliance Cost-$12.51*Nuclear Construction Cost Recovery-$10.79*Municipal Franchise Fee-$5.67*Sales Tax-$13.92 - Total Bill- $212.64. What in the world is going on? This is abusive, unethical, and unscrupulous. First of all I am living by myself so how is my bill $169.75 in the first place and how is it that they want me to go from the $167.75 charges to paying $212.64? That brings me to my next point, why are consumers being forced to deal with such a treacherous company? Why is the government forcing us to do business with monopoly that does not care about the welfare of consumers? We continue to give and give and pay and pay and they continue to take and take and take. Enough is enough and something has to be done about this. When I dealt with Jackson EMC I never had to worry about these issues. As consumers we should be able to select the type of company we want to deal with, we should be able to choose our electric company. The way I look at it if you do not stand for a good cause, if you do not stand for something you will fall for anything. These prices and bad practices by GA Power must stop. As consumers we cannot continue to carry this heavy load. It is time for a petition against GA Power.

Georgia Power terrible service

They are constantly adding "fees" to our balance. I paid a $300 deposit to get service to begin with, I have good credit and I'm a veteran. I found out today they are adding another $35 deposit because its late! My power has never been cut off so why keep charging me? My bill runs around $60-$80 a month. I cant stand this stupid service and I am definitely switching to someone/anyone else!

Georgia Power service

When the power goes off because of storms and we call for an estimated time of when the power will be back on, we always get the same message. That they are evaluating the situation and to call back later for an update on the estimated time. This went on for 7.5 hours until all of a sudden the power came back on. This is ridiculous!

We also signed up for alerts/updates on when we would be getting our power back on. Not a one. All we received was a confirmation that our power was out.

This is a huge bunch of BS. It was freezing in our house for 7.5 hours last night. At least let me know how long I should expect to freeze. Freakin' horrible way to do business. Don't offer something if you are not going to provide it!

Georgia Power customer Service is Full of BS. I have been calling the past two month to fix my meter readings. I have been paying for mix power reading for almost a year now. Every time I called customer service they do not have good information all they say is call back with in 3 days. It gets me beyond frustrated when such a huge organization like GA Power does not have a good bridge to communicate with customers. Who I should call to get my problem fixed... Not customer services employees or their clueless supervisor...
