HGTV Political ads

We as women don’t come to HGTV to listen to political ads. We come there to get away from political ads and see things that are happening in the real world. Of course you guys have screwed that up by putting Kamala Harris Ads on TV. Well, let me tell you how we feel we as women worked. A rare ends off to get ahead to be successful in our careers and I could say from experience that I never once laid on my back or got on my knees to get there, the fact that I feel that your political ads are bias and you might be liberal nut cases makes a whole bunch of us like 26,000 that are in this group. Feel like we need to teach you What it means to go woke and go broke

Desired outcome: Stop pushing political ads I get you need ads to make money, but we are offended by the political ads your posting. you’re interrupting a normally an enjoyable show to post political ads that are biased towards the left,🤮

HGTV HGTV Lottery Dream Home

I am very frustrated and hurt by the high percentage of blacks portrayed on My Lottery Dream Home TV show.

With blacks making up 20% of the population at most, why are the participants closer to 60 or 70% black? This is hurtful, woke, and stupid.

You are losing your white, Hispanic and Asian audiences.

I want to see people like myself.

I wouldn't have trouble with even 25 to 30%, but your show is over the top with black families.

Be fair, or you stand to lose not just me, but many more whites. We were your previous demographic.

I won't watch, and I urge others not to watch either...

This is a stupid woke move. Fix this before the show goes belly up!

Desired outcome: Reduce black participants.

HGTV House Hunters programming

On August 29th , 2023 an episode of House Hunters was aired featuring a couple viewing homes in Maui, HI.

This episode was shown at appx. 0200 EST on Direct TV.

We were saddened that your programming has not pulled Maui episodes in light of the recent tragedy on Maui due to the horrific wildfire. Instead of the light-hearted viewing this show provides, we were left wondering if the couple were in the path of the fire and lost their home or worse. Did this young couple survive?

If HGTV monitors programming for shows like House Hunters and insist on airing out-dated footage, please add an acknowledgement for the viewers and respectfully honor possible victims and communities before airing.

Thank you.

Desired outcome: Pull Maui episodes.

Is HGTV Legit?

HGTV earns a trustworthiness rating of 91%

Highly recommended, but caution will not hurt.

Our conclusion: After a detailed review, ComplaintsBoard finds HGTV to be a trustworthy company. Although there's a 2% resolution rate for customer complaints, which deserves attention, HGTV is known for their high standards and safety. If you're thinking about dealing with HGTV, it's wise to check how they handle complaints.

We found clear and detailed contact information for HGTV. The company provides a physical address, phone number, and 2 emails, as well as 4 social media accounts. This demonstrates a commitment to customer service and transparency, which is a positive sign for building trust with customers.

The age of HGTV's domain suggests that they have had sufficient time to establish a reputation as a reliable source of information and services. This can provide reassurance to potential customers seeking quality products or services.

Hgtv.com has a valid SSL certificate, which indicates that the website is secure and trustworthy. Look for the padlock icon in the browser and the "https" prefix in the URL to confirm that the website is using SSL.

We looked up HGTV and found that the website is receiving a high amount of traffic. This could be a sign of a popular and trustworthy website, but it is still important to exercise caution and verify the legitimacy of the site before sharing any personal or financial information

However ComplaintsBoard has detected that:

  • While HGTV has a high level of trust, our investigation has revealed that the company's complaint resolution process is inadequate and ineffective. As a result, only 2% of 131 complaints are resolved. The support team may have poor customer service skills, lack of training, or not be well-equipped to handle customer complaints.
  • We conducted a search on social media and found several negative reviews related to HGTV. These reviews may indicate issues with the company's products, services, or customer support. It is important to thoroughly research the company and its offerings before making any purchases to avoid any potential risks.

HGTV Easy Loans advert on HGTV

This channel is advertising Easy Loans (14 July 2023 @ 18:24) with an APR of 99.4%. This is shameful. This tv advert should be encouraging people who have no money to take out loans they will never pay back.

It is irresponsible to allow this. Who monitors your adverts?

The advert should be removed immediately. It is encouraging those people who ate unable to obtain a loan from a bank into getting into a financial difficulties for life which could lead to crime. It was on early in the evening as well encouraging young people.

Desired outcome: Remove the advert forever

HGTV HGTV enemy to the environment

I can't watch demolition on HGTV anymore. I've always thought it was wasteful that perfectly good kitchen cupboards etc. were smashed instead of being removed for reuse, but yesterday I felt physically sick watching granite countertops being smashed to rubble which I assume will be tossed in a landfill. Granite is a mined resource that has many consequences that come with its extraction. It can be rationalized for household use when it is seen as a permanent fixture. It lasts forever and should always be removed and reused with respect to its natural durability and longevity. It should never be tossed in the trash.

HGTV Programming

i don't know who is in charge of directing your programs, but i'm really tired of the "cuteness" on the part of the stars! The programs stand on their own, if they are good and if they are good the cute comments and lame humor just detract. I have no complaint with technical information, decision making, etc. but the efforts to make the starts likeable ,I guess, is a real turn off. If I want humor or cuteness i'll find programs whose purpose is that. Don't need amateur hour on HGTV shows.

Desired outcome: less lame cuteness!!!!

HGTV Rock the block

My issue is rock the block. I like the show, I don't like the choices of teams this year. However I watched the main suite tonight and I think all judging should be blind throughout the whole show. Why only tonight's show? Doesn't make sense. The whole entire first and final judging should be blind there is favoritism in the show always has. Ty I'm not a fan of either. David from lottery dream home is a good choice.

I am totally not going to watch Rock the Block if they continue to have any further shows. I was totally dismayed that Sarah and Bryan didn't win the Living Room due to the functionality including a family. Tonight clenched it for me. First of all Jonathan wasn't even present for half of the renovation and we all know Sarah is a class act and for someone to judge and say it was too specific is outlandish! Bryan and Sarah designed and built many homes and for goodness sake an entire island retreat. Tell me one of these judges that did something that huge. They are about class and elegance and the judges chose a design that was not a two million dollar home in Colorado. I like a few of the judges however with a certain client in mind, I know that Sarah and Bryan should have one the living room design and the basement. Shame on Ty Pennington for not informing the judges of who would be buying a home such as this. Some of the designs were less then adequate for a family. You could put your stamp on Sarah and Brian's home hands down. Oh do I need to say the kitchen was outstanding and who would like a wall painted black in the dining room. Could it be that Jonathan being a singer gets to have a street sign dedicated to him because of this. I am just about ready to stop watching HGTV altogether because of what I saw tonight. I am not a fan of Ty either. How did he get involved with anything. Perhaps he picked the judges, big mistake if this is the case. You can tell I am so upset and you really watch the show to enjoy it. Not even. I hope you take my comment seriously and that others have felt the same way. You have lost one viewer who always watched your show even in the late evenings. I hope you are happy now.

HGTV Won't let me enter contest for 2-3 years

The last three years my email will not allow me to enter the contest. When I typed the birth year, three years ago, I typed the wrong birth year. So, I have not been allowed to enter the contests. This year I would really like to enter. My contact information is: Sharon Wilson, Claremore OK, Born September 10, 1943 (I'm plenty old enough), [protected]@msn.com

It's a short problem, just let me enter the contest. How hard can that be. When I hit the submit button, it says I don't have a long enough problem. It's not a long problem, it's a SOFTWARE problem. Fix it.

Desired outcome: Let me enter the contest. I'm a grumpy old lady!

HGTV The pillow guy commercials, really?

I was very surprised & even more disappointed that HGTV runs commercials for any My Pillow Guy, Mike Lindell seen on Tuesday, 12/13/22. Mike Lindell’s behavior has threatened US democracy & continues to share a huge amount of false information.

I hope my concerns are taken seriously & that you are hearing from a large number of HGTV viewers who feel the same.

Desired outcome: Remove any and all commercials promoting all Mike Lindell products.

You republicans are always trying to tell people to move here or move there, because you all don't like what people have to say, if you don't want to read it, then skip over or past it or better yet, just shut up and keep your comment to yourself. Because everyone is entitled to his or her opinion, even your racist behind, I can't really say what I want to, so be glad.

HGTV Series: Pamela's garden of eden

I have never put in a complaint to my favorite network before. But this show is also a first on HGTV. I watched a couple of episodes, but when Pamela Anderson came out in a men's shirt, with some transparency, in front of teenage boys, I was put off from this show.

Upset that HGTV would allow this kind of content, I avoid all episodes.

Clearly this is for ratings not for the women, whom I assume watch HGTV the most.

So disappointed with your network allowing this display to be shown. I now am discovering other networks with more family content. Magnolia Network is more to my liking.

Desired outcome: Please think of your followers with upcoming series. Keep undesirable content out of your shows.

HGTV Commercial for aids medication

I am appalled and sickened by the commercial you are running, promoting promiscuous sex (2 men at the train station) for an aids commercial. I don't care if it was a hetrosexual commercial, either way it is totally inappropriate for a channel like yours that is supposedly family friendly. I can no longer allow it to be on in my home for my kids to watch. I have been watching your channel for 10 plus years, and had to remove it from my cable line up today. Shame on your guys... Hurting innocent children for money.

Desired outcome: No longer show the commercial

HGTV Commercials

I used to enjoy watching HGTV programming, but I will probably quit watching your channel all together. I don’t want to have to explain to my 3 and 6 year old grandkids why 2 grown men are hugging and kissing on tv. I don’t believe in, nor will I accept or support that sort of lifestyle and I truly do not appreciate the LGBTQ agendas being forced on us by TV stations like you have chosen to do! I am very, very disappointed, offended and appalled by this.

Desired outcome: If this is supposed to be family programming, then quit running ads/commercials that prove otherwise!

HGTV Scot McGillvrays Jakes cottages at Percy Boom

He is employing a man, that has beat up my 62 year old friend, beside your set, unprovoked, plus some of Scott's construction workers. Scott knows all the details and has been overheard syaing, don't worry, I will never fire you. Even his production came over the next day to talk to us about the incident. Everyone saw it happen. So, my retired friend now has to sit with his back against the wall with a baseball bat beside him for protection and all of the other cottage/home owners are frightened of this man. I have seen him, he looks like he's 40 and an MMA fighter. Way bigger and younger than all the owners there. How can Scott keep this man in his employment knowing full well what has happened? Why not just hire a new security guard? What has this guy got on Scott? Seems fishy to everyone. Does he feel bad for him, but not the actual owners of where he has come in and built and dupisrupted? My friends parents owned this cottage so we have been going there for entire life. Never had a problem, but now terrified as he has already pooped in their well the year previous while working for old owner of Jakes. This makes me really not like Scott and everyone I know now knows and is surprised Scott would be like this. Clearly a very different person off camera. Rian Baeumler was there and knows about it, ask him.

Desired outcome: Scott needs to fire this man and make it peaceful there again.

HGTV Brian and Sarah Baumler

I am sick of watching HGTV home builders and designers use their shows to build these enormous houses for themselves. There are a few examples of TV hosts that do this, Sarah Nicolson, Scott McGillivray but the worst in my eyes are the Baeumlers. This couple must be on their fifth personal build for themselves. Its nauseating to see these rich builders get more rich off their builds through their TV shows, the selling of their properties just to move on for another build. Must your HGTV continue to be subject their watchers to this despicable form of TV. I can't be the only person to complain about this issue. I enjoy watching builders and designers helping regular people through their building and design issues. That is what HGTV should stick too.

Desired outcome: Stop producing programs that feature homebuilder and designers building their personal properties. Its disgusting!

Totally agree with Carla G. ! Everything about this show is about money and the lifestyle of the rich and famous, which does not, in any way, speak to regular middle class folks. Why must we always see Brian being condensending towards his wife? Must we think this is funny? Nothing connects to the regular folks: pretending the kids are miserable temporarily living in a huge RV- building those same kids bedrooms which belong in Bahrein. Maybe this is "their" normal, but it sure isn't ours... And all of this so they can build bigger personal properties. We do not feel jealousy or envy here, simply find it sad that some producers think this will make us dream... You are all completelty disconnected from the real world with this show.

HGTV Programming choice

HGTV used to be my go-to channel nearly every hour of every day, but as the years have passed, your programming and my interests are significantly diverging. (One can watch only so many Property Brothers derivations year after year or so many programs in which the reno teams cook up skits of silly antics as "entertainment."

My husband and I find Bargain Block to be one of the most innovative and inspiring programs on offer at HGTV in years. Evan and Keith were both comfortable and professional on camera and their work was unique, all characteristics missing in the program replacing BB as well as many other programs on offer. We are beyond disappointment that Bargain Block has been cancelled for the new 2023 season.

Desired outcome: We would like Bargain Block be reinstated as soon as possible.

I agree! Those guys busted their rumps on this show, and although I didn't relate personally to their design style, I had tremendous respect and admiration for their endless creativity and accomplishments. And I assumed for not much profit other than whatever salary they made from the network. Also, it was so refreshing to see potential home buyers who were APPRECIATIVE of the smallest things! Not like some of the buyers on the other HGTV home-buying and home-renting shows.

Please don't bring Bargain Block back, I know I am far from alone in requesting this!

On the other hand, please keep airing Hometown, Fixer To Fabulous, Help! I Wrecked My House, Farmhouse Fixer, David and his lottery show...these are a few of your better shows. Renovation Island and 100 Day Dream Home are pretty good and whatever happened to Windy City Rehab? That was a great show!

Ditto on how HGTV used to be my go-to channel everyday we well. The show took on a major transformation from the earlier days in the 90s and early 2000s when we used to watch it - until it became unwatchable in more recent years. Nothing but "reality type" shows with people, people, people, instead of homes and gardens. Where are the gardens? What happened to the panning photography of lovely homes and landscapes, and decorating; hosts that had personalities and showcased the homes rather than themselves. Where are the people over 30? Now its all about chatter, contests, boring conversation, whiny women voices, kvetching and mugging for the camera. I have no inkling why anyone finds the Property Brothers interesting. Boring stuff. Again - when a show is called "HOME AND GARDEN" it should be about the homes and the gardens, not about the people, people, people. The same goes for Food Network and DIY as well (which I guess no longer exists). They too changed drastically and became unwatchable. So much has been ruined by those that took over our cable networks.

HGTV Renovation Island tv show

I often watch HGTV, especially house hunters. On Sunday evening, I decided to watch Renovation Island. I had seen Renovation Island before, and was not particularly impressed, but there was not much on, so I watched it.

The dad, the husband on the show, needs to be given a course in anger management. I watched in complete disgust, as three dogs, waited patiently at the side of the road, to cross. The so-called “star” of the show, angrily beeped

The horn of his car, yelled at the dogs, and kept driving. It is unfortunate that this “person” is allowed to have a show. I, personally, will not be watching again. I know that it will not impact the show, but I will encourage everyone that

I know, who has a love of animals, not to watch. I will also not purchase any items from the sponsors of the show.

Maybe, Mr. Renovation, needs a renovation of his personality. His hostility is palpable.

Acting as he does on camera, can only make a person wonder, how he is off camera

Thank you,

Nancy Camann

HGTV Hateful paraphernalia

I was watching 'Fixer to Fabulous' Saturday night (08/07/2011). They remodeled a friends home, right before one of the commercials you showed a Confederate Flag blowing in the wind, which was interesting because a Black Woman owned the house and was moving in after the remodel.

I have watched HGTV from the very beginning, but recently have found there are shows I don't watch anymore. Some shows with the workers pants down around their [censored]. I have seen 'cracks' that I should have never seen. It is your business do what you want.
