advertising
2017 dream home videos are preceded by velcro ads with aggravating loud music, ads are waaay too long, so much so that I would only explore 2-3 short videos of the home
Really disappointing that hgtv expects viewers to put up with these ads
I will not use your site, turned ad blocker off but was bombarded with ads.
Much worse than the last time I used hgtv
too much flip or flop
Hgtv is my favorite channel. But lately there's a lot of flip or flop. Today (10-25-18) all afternoon from 1pm to 10pm tonight is flip or flop come on guys. Really? You expect your customers to watch the same show for 9 hours straight. This is ridiculous. And you only have fixer upper on for 1 hour from 12-1. Really? And it's a much better and talked about show. Me and my other stay at home moms are looking forward to future days of less flip or flop.
sweepstake/magazine
I entered a hgtv sweepstake on 9/20/18 and a few days later received an email with subject "thank you for your order." then received a bill for a subscription I never ordered. When I contacted customer service they stated they were not aware of the sweepstake details and there was nothing in their system yet but it usually takes a few days after I open the account (that I never opened). I'm curious, if you aren't aware of the details, how do you know it usually takes a few days for an account to show in the system. Of course, no supervisors available. Really bad look hgtv
magazine
A few days ago, I received an invoice for an unsolicited subscription to hgtv magazine. According to the notation on the bill, I had subscribed to hgtv magazine and entered the sweepstakes. I was then asked to verify all my account information and "pay now at pay. Hgtvmag.com".
Granted, I did enter the sweepstakes (which is something I do at least once per year); however, I always carefully decline magazine subscriptions.in any case, I went to the web address to seek a way to cancel what I had not ordered. Persistence finally paid off, when I found this complaint registration form and the many complaints similar to mine.
I called (800) 840-8056 to speak to someone in customer service and waded through the many options to finally select option #9 (other). The customer service representative politely verified my contact information and quickly addressed my concern. Within three minutes, I had a number confirming my cancellation and his assurance that the subscription had been cancelled.
Although I didn't have to jump through many hoops to solve this problem, it should not have happened. I'm fairly certain that (although they claim to have processed my entry), they won't be letting me know if I have been selected as the winner.
fixer upper
You state you have a wide variety of programming but fixer upper is the lion's share of it. I always used to watch hgtv on the weekend. Now it's almost always fixer upper all weekend. It's also on a lot during the week. With this much airtime they have to be mostly reruns. I no longer like fixer upper. Joanna is overbearing and a know-it-all. Chip comes off as whipped and not very bright. Boring.
I agree I love fixer upper, but I believe HGTV feel obligated to Tarek and Christina because of the devoice to air the show more frequently. I think they should take down the show and adds that relates to their personal life and their Divorce and let them raise they kids and move on with their lives and continue to work to together as a team
I totally agree. I don’t like watching Christina. Whenever me n my stay at home moms see her on we Flip n Flop to another station. Lol. She acts like she’s all that.
used to enjoy hgtv but fixer upper is on way too much and repeats.used to enjoy house hunter in daytime.and sold on the spot and the 2 realtors competing with their 2 finds for same couple who have also found 1 on their own.young man and older woman with enjoyable personality.
program listing
I have Charter TV IN Jackson, TN. On 3/25/18, you showed "Flea Market Flip" scheduled fir 6:00 am to 8:30 am. I set my DVR to record it while I was in church.
I had time before leaving & decided to watch the earliest episode. House Hunters was showing instead of FMF! I checked the next 3 recordings & same thing. Checked the Guide & it showed FMF NOT House Hunters! You have done this a number of times. Get your programming to match what the cable guide shows.
My guess is someone in Programming decided we should watch your House Hunters instead of FMF. I deleted all House Hunters (all repeats anyway) & switched on my ROKU to watch a show of MY choice - NOT your programmers choice.
More & more I am watching ROKU & NOT watching HGTV because of constant repeat programs & nothing with design info.
The persons in charge of programming are ruining HGTV with their personal favorites!
Soon to be a FORMER WATCHER OF HGTV!
house beautiful and hgtv magazine
I have been billed for house beautiful and hgtv magazine, I didn't subscribe to either of these! I did pay for the hgtv and I finally received a magazine this week but now I have a bill for it again! I am not paying 2x
This is wrong! I will not be going on your site again to sign up for anything, sweepstakes! Or anything. Ever again
The worse part is that the invoice is so generic and there is no phone number or even a working website email on them to contact anyone. I do not want a black mark on my excellent credit because of a stupid magazine subscription
fixer upper
So tired of fixer upper. It's on everyday. I used to watch hgtv everyday. Now the only thing on is fixer upper. What happened to variety? I don't watch hgtv at all anymore. What happened to kitchen, bathroom, room and yard makeover shows? I still like property brothers. Not so much buying and selling. The new flip or flop shows can't replace the original.
Agree ... enough Chip and Joanna
Tired of those no longer in production. Where are the good couples from Flip or Flop - the Corsinis in Atlanta, the couple in Vegas. First Flippers is so silly and ridiculous ... a waste of my time. Like Mina and Karen from Indianapolis IN. Why don't you return some of the GOOD Flip or Flop couples in another season? I do not watch HGTV as much as I did. Your programming is not nearly as interesting. jgc36 TX
Love them don’t change a thing-
I agree! Why don't they just change the channel name from HGTV to the Chip and Joanna show...all the designs look the same and so are their stupid tiring interactions
magazine
I am being threatened by this scam company. I never ordered a subscription of this magazine and notified them of this and they still keep sending final notices to me. I have seen several similar complaints listed online - people having the same issue as myself.
I need them to cease and desist sending me notices - I have not received any more magazines after the first one at this time
"I would like to receive 1 FREE issue of HGTV Magazine.
If I like what I see, I'll get 1 year (for a total of 11 issues) for just $19.99 – that's 54% less than others pay on the newsstand. If not, I'll return the bill marked "cancel" and keep the first issue with no obligation. I'll still be eligible to win the sweepstakes."
Just don't check the box.
tv programming
Hgtv seems to have forgotten what made them popular originally. It was the variety and originality of their designers and concepts. At this point home depot has more substantive variety on design and decor. We are tired of joanna gaines and her [censor] husband as well as the scott brothers. You have completely walked away from outdoor designs and landscaping which really got us motivated. Tiny houses have proven to be unsafe and a poor investment. Please, please, please update your designers and programming as we would love to return to hgtv binge watching #save hgtv!
Why are YOU NOT SHOWING "HOME TOWN" on HGTV. I live in Lakeland, FL., and changed time Direct TV in order to see my most favorite HGTV program, only to learn that you're NOT SHOWING IT ON DIRECT TV ANYEHERE?!
WHY IS THIS?
PLEASE TAKE...LOVE IT OR LIST IT ... OFF YOUR PROGRAMMING...PEOPLE ARE SICK OF THE DAMN SHOW...ITS RIDICULOUS.
PLEASE, PLEASE RETURN "HOME TOWN" TO THE AIR.

Agreed monotonous
Ive gotten where i do not watch hgtv hardly at all due to only 2 show monopolize the day viewing time.
stop the flip or flop show
The flip or flop show is extremely irritating.
It's boring and uninteresting from the first episode. I think that everyone got tired of these untalented and not gifted people. Sorry, but they weren't born to host the show. One hundred houses in one year? What a lie! Could you please show us something else in the evening except for flip or flop? Stop repeating it over and over again, please
Please cancel this show. Christina is acting like a tramp and is very hateful and argumentative. This is not what HGTV is about...this is not tras tv like Big Brother, etc. please, please send Tarek & Christina a message and cancel the show.
hgtv magazine I never ordered
I recently got a bill from hgtv 3 weeks ago about a magazine subscription they say I ordered but I never ordered. I tore it up because I figured it must be a mistake because I wasn't receiving a magazine but this week I got magazine and my father received the same magazine which he never ordered. Now I don't have a phone number or anything to call and cancel. I did entered my father and I into hgtv's urban home giveaway but I enter their home giveaways all the time but never order their magazine while doing it. When the magazine first came out my mother ordered it for a year but neither one of us liked the subscription so we canceled it.
unordered magazine subscription
I have been entering the hgtv sweepstakes forever, and this is the first time that i've been billed for a product I did not order, nor agree to.
Thanks to this site, I found the contact number & waited on hold for over 10 minutes before an agent came on to affirm my identity. She said she would remove the bill and to ignore future bills.
Beware. I am now posting this on facebook.
magazine
I received two invoices from hgtv saying I had ordered a 2 year magazine subscription at a cost of $28.00. I never placed that order and using the customer service number someone posted on this site I was able to contact the publishing company. The lady I spoke with was very rude and said someone had submitted a postcard order with my information. She then went on to say the subscription had been cancelled the day before... How convenient. Here is the hard to find number to speak with customer service [protected].
This seems like a poor business practice at best, at worst it's extortion.
dream home giveaway
This isn't actually a complaint but more of a request.
I love the annual dream home giveaway but isn't it about time to freshen things up a bit?
Why is it that linda woodrum is always the designer when there are so many world-class designers out there?
We would love to see someone else be given the opportunity and breathe some fresh life into this project.
The first person who comes to mind is sarah richardson. She is argueably the best designer today. Her design aesthetic is impeccable, classic and on pointe, without being trendy; something few designers are able to achieve. Linda's design choices are very predictable and honestly, a little stodgy and ho-hum. Perhaps it's time for some new blood.
I have been a loyal viewer of both hgtv and diy for their respective existence and design is my passion. I am always left wishing for the wow factor with linda's design choices.
Sarah could make your next dream home a true dream come true. Even the office of president has a term limit.
Thanks for your consideration.
Respectfully,

programming
I have watched hgtv since it's inception. However, i'm not thrilled with the current programming. Gone are the gardening and decorating/design shows! While I watch the scott brothers a lot, they seem to dominate the channel! I just saw that yet another "flipping" show is coming on! Enough already!! You guys really need to get more imaginative with programs!!!

I received an email out of the blue today "thanking for my order" and telling me that I owe them $18.
Upon searching the web, I found two similar complaints, one of which provided the phone number to call (thankfully!). That phone number is no where in the mystery invoice email or on the hgtv and hgtv magazine websites.
I am repeating that number here in case this happens to anyone else so that they know exactly who to call: [protected].
The customer service representative told me that I "ordered" the magazine when I entered their hgtv smart home sweepstakes.
This is total and utter crap and a scam!
I have entered hgtv sweepstakes (dream home, smart home, etc.) for years, and I have never had this happen to me. Nor do I "select" a box ordering a subscription.in fact, I don't check any boxes for info on their other websites, etc.
I am so disappointed in hgtv and am also notifying the bbb of this scam.
If this happens to you, please call the number above and demand that they cancel your account and ask them to send you a confirmatory email so that you can prove you requested this, should they decide to try again to collect from you. Thankfully, I did receive such an email from them as soon as I called.
Unbelievable. They have lost a long-standing supporter and I will never enter their sweepstakes again.
They sent me a subscription too. I never gave them permission. I think it was because I entered their sweepstakes. I couldn't believe when I got a magazine in the mail, and a bill saying I owe $18.00. Yes this is a scam.
It will be a COLD day in hell when we will send the deviant perverts of HGTV one red cent.
scam
I have been emailed, and have had bills sent to me from hgtv saying that I owe them money for a magazine that I never subscribed for. They even sent me two magazines, which I haven't even read. They sent me a final notice today saying that I owed them. I never subscribed to the magazine. How can they automatically subscribe me when I didn't give them permission? I am not paying for something I did not subscribe to.
I also received an invoice from HGTV magazine. I DID NOT subscribe to this magazine. This is a scam! They claim entering the contest of winning a dream home is as simple as clicking a button and no obligations, but that is a LIE. I find it funny that the invoice doesn't like a contact #. The website also DOES NOT provide any contact #'s. This is ridiculous. I am pursuing filing a legal complaint and drawing much media attention, informing other viewers to BE WARE.
the subscription I didn't order.
In august 2016... I recivied a bill for 18.00. For a should I didn't order. The magazine didn't even come until september 2016..
It went to hgtv website. I couldn't find any information on canceling this subscription couldn't find any other websites to help me either. This is a complete scam. I entered a contest supposedly with no obligations and ended up with a magazine subscription that they kept sending me bills for that I didn't ask for this is not ok. When I finally found this website that's all the other complaints with phone numbers I was elated thank you very much i've been called the company spoke with amanda and cancelled my subscription.
It's a shame hgtv such an upstanding television station in programming would be involved in anything like this at all.
false claim of hgtv magazine subscription
I received an email advertising an online sweepstakes which stated that no purchase was necessary, but advertised a subscription to hgtv magazine. I did not subscribe to the magazine, but later received a “confirmation” of an order for the magazine. When I attempted to correct this error, I was asked to wait before attempting to unsubscribe or to contact customer service.
This is clearly a scam and I think that both hearst and hgtv should be held responsible for unsuspecting people who are taken in by this fraudulent offer.
I want to make sure that no attempt is made to collect or harrass me for their unethical practice.

I totally agree. Same thing happened to me. I only enter contests sponsored by HGTV and its sister companies so that I do not get scammed. No where on the entry form does it say you are buying a subscription. In fact it says that no purchase is necessary. It says to contact them if you have a problem, but there is no phone number so I am sending a letter of shame off to Hearst in New York. I wish I had contact information for HGTV so that I could contact them too. Shame on HGTV and the Scott Brothers for participating in this scam.
Same thing here! I was careful NOT to get the magazine but they pulled this manure anyway. This company is just plain dishonest.
