Date of Incident: 1/22/2024
Location: 2718 Hylan Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10306
Description of Incident:
I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with an experience I had at the Homegoods store on 1/22/2024. Upon attempting to purchase an item at the checkout, the cashier noted a price discrepancy and then sought clarification from the store manager.
The manager(Joesph) examined the situation and informed us that the price label on the item was incorrect, suggesting that it might have been altered by customers attempting to commit theft. We were taken aback by this insinuation, especially since we had simply chosen the item from the shelf with no knowledge of any discrepancy.
Furthermore, the manager proposed that we purchase the item at a price significantly higher than what was labeled, which was more than 50% above the displayed price, without checking in the system what the price should be. This was surprising, but more so was the implication that we could have been responsible for altering the price label ourselves. This accusation was both unfounded and distressing.
