H&R Block / HRB Digital scam and cheating!

When I filed by taxs online with H&R Block, I signed up for the Easy IRA. This seemed like a good idea at the time, however, I still have not received account information and have no way to access my account. Each time I call, I am on hold forever. The few times I've actually talked to anyone, I was routed to another person and reached their voice mail. I left messages but have never gotten a return call. I have submitted multiple email complaints, and all I get in return is instructions to call the same number that I've been calling in the first place. I am running out of patience but will not give up my hard earned money without a fight. So anyone considering setting up an IRA with H&R Block - protect yourself and go to a reputable company.

The H&R Block Easy IRA is a SCAM.

H&R Block / HRB Digital scam and cheating!

I have been scammed by H&R Block and want them exposed. This has been going on for over two weeks now. Not only would I like my refund, but I want someone to hear me because I’m not keeping quiet about this. I am going to post this everywhere I can and if even ONE person responds it will have been worth it.

I would have to guess that my appearance (pseudo punk/goth) led them to believe I would not complain (or maybe realize) what they had done. But I actually am a shop owner (Drytear) and have owned a number of businesses. I simply will not tolerate this form of behavior/service. I have contacted numerous news medias as well as made a complaint to the better business bureau. I've made frequent phone calls to their district office AND main customer service numbers, only to leave message after message for someone to call me back (which they have not).

Here is the email I have been sending to everyone at H&R Block that explains my issue:

____________begin email_______________
To whoever will listen:

I was basically scammed by your establishment. I went to H&R because I needed the money right away. I already had my taxes prepared by a CPA and just wanted to have the refund disbursed to me immediately (as I had heard about on TV/radio). I explained to the accountant (who was there dressed in what seemed like pajamas and ignored me twice for a friend and then for a phone call when I had waited patiently for almost 30 minutes for her) that her work was easy, she just needed to quickly file my prepared taxes so I could receive the refund immediately.

Now (to my understanding), I have been denied something called a 3-min loan and a bank loan and I have to wait 8-14 days for a check that will be mailed to HER! This is unacceptable. I have basically just paid to have my taxes disbursed LATER than if I would have e-filed through my CPA for free. (AND TO SOMEONE OTHER THAN MYSELF! Whatever happened to direct deposit?) AND WHY AM I PAYING YOU HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS? What exactly did you do for me? I was scammed and I'm calling the better business bureau and I am calling EVERY TV/radio/newspaper agency in my area to complain about your disgusting service.

PS: I also called your district office over 20 times... I get an answering machine at each attempt. Very nice. I feel much better now. :-/ I also called your main customer service line and was on hold for 35 minutes, before I finally just hung up the phone (as my cell phone minutes are dwindling along with my patience for your business).

____________end email_______________

I know I am angry right now... but this couldn't have happened at a worse time for me.

I have been going to HR Block since 1989 I have never had any problems with them I even got a emerald card from them a couple of years ago. But this year 2016 as been a night mare from hell. They charged me an arm and a leg to do my taxes and it only took her 20 mins. it would have taken her less time if she knew what she was doing. maybe her having a cold did something to her thinking. This year they charged me 35.00 to put it on my emerald card THAT I GOT FROM THEM! how stupid is that. Plus I couldn't get my MD put on my card cause the women didn't know how to do it with the emerald car. When it was all done and they tell you how much your getting back usually there fee is already deducted from there but when I got my return I was short 219.95 I called the IRS and was on the phone with them for 2 hours only to find out the money was HR Blocks fee for doing my taxes. So not only did I not get what I was told, it was a nightmare to get it done there. NEVER AGAIN! Beware people HR Block is a total scam. my 8 yr old granddaughter could do a better job then they did.

Yes, It's true. H&R Block is ripping people off. I am a single mother of four. I am a nurse. I work hard but with 4 kids sure did not need to be ripped off by this dis-honest and un-ethical company. We are in big trouble because I took out a big loan from a title loan place based on the block lie and now they are trying to take my vehicle. I hope they are happy. I hope their lies catch up with them soon. Don't EVER EVER do business with H&R block.

I have news for anyone who blames this problem on HSBC. If an H&R block rep tells me I've been approved, they are accountable for telling me that! NOT THE BANK! HR block is a low life company who is preying on single mothers just like me who are desperate for money. They are lying to us up front to take more of out money just because we are desperate to get it sooner. HR BLOCK...you are all complete sleeze!

Don't you people know that this country has changed? Do you pay attention to our economy and what has happened to our banking system? It is harder than ever to get a loan now because of what has happened, This is why you were denied!

For the last 3 years my wife and I have filed Jointly using Express Tax (Owned By H&R Block) to do our taxs since it was closer to our house. This year Express closed down and referred us to H&R Block. So we went in December and got a Emerald Advance Loan of $600 from them and was approved Right then. Now its january 12th and we got our W-2's and went in to do our taxs.We filed for the 1-2 hour RAL like we have done for the past 3 years and Was Denied(No reason Given). So they pushed us towards the 2-3 day RAL telling us that we would have a better chance of getting approved for it.Now 2 days Later I am recieving calls from people claiming to be from H&R block asking for our Social security numbers and other information(I NEVER GIVE THESE OUT THEY SHOULD HAVE THEM ON FILE) So i Call the office where we had our taxs prepared and inform them of it and find out that We were DENIED for the 2-3 Day Ral also. But H&R Block is still going to charge us the fees for the 1-2 hour RAL and the fees for the 2-3 day RAL.Now we can expect to recieve our check in 10-15 days with almost $1200 taken out for their fees. This is the Last year I will ever file with them in Gainesville Florida. Now I have 2 bills that are due that i can not pay right now and I am out $1200 more while they sit back and smile about it. THREE YEARS DOING THE SAME THING EVERY YEAR WITH NO CHANGES TO FILING STATUS OR EMPLOYMENT AND THEY DO THIS. THEY SHOULD HAVE A GENERAL IDEA OF WHAT THE REQUIREMENTS ARE EACH YEAR FOR PEOPLE APPLYING FOR THEIR RALS.

And trying to talk to them is like talking to a 5 yr old about Global warming.

If you are attempting to get your refund back quicker than the IRS direct deposit (From the IRS directly) you are GOING TO PAY FEES! ANY money you get before the IRS releases the money to you or a bank WILL BE A LOAN! THERE WILL BE FEES! if you apply for a loan... THERE WILL BE FEES! if you get turned down, it is the BANK who did that, NOT H&R Block.

NOW, are there unprofessional employees at H&R Block? Sometimes yes! If you run into one of those, stop the interview and ask for another preparer or loacation! If they refuse, feel free to go elsewhere, but PLEASE let the company know so that it can be fixed in the future.

I hope next year goes much smother for everyone.

I work for Block. You went in to Block to get a loan with HSBC bank. Since your CPA already prepared your return when you went to Block to get the loan to have money in your had sooner than getting it from the IRS you are an express filer. The Block fee for an express filer is $100. This fee has nothing to do with the HSBC bank fees. The tax preparer has to enter your entire return just like it is done for a client who is having his/her return prepared by Block. The $100 fee covers the time and expertise of the Block preparer. In addition to entering your return for the loan application, the preparer is looking out for you by making sure the return is accurate. Any other fees above that are the HSBC bank fees and have nothing to do with Block. After entering the return, then it is time to send it electronically to the IRS and HSBC bank. Block acts as a facilitator, or bank agent, between you and HSBC bank. E-filing to the IRS has no charge; e-filing is free. Block has no control over HSBC bank and whether it approves a loan or does not approve a loan. Your refund is the collateral for the loan. You are borrowing against your refund. If HSBC turns you down for the loan, then your beef is with them, not Block. The bank, by law, has 30 days to notify you why you were denied the loan. You also get a free credit report. When applying for a loan, from whatever source, you run into the possibility that the loan application may not be approved. This is not the fault of the person or the company who helped you apply; the issue lies between you and the bank you applied to for a loan. You shouldn't be angry. What you did was try for a loan and you were turned down. It's similar to applying for a loan at the bank, there is an application fee at a bank. Paying the application fee doesn't guarantee you will get the loan. By the way, the express filer fee is NOT a loan application fee. I was just trying to give you an example of how it costs someone to apply and how the cost doesn't guarantee approval. I hope this explanation helps you.

H&R Block / HRB Digital tax preperation

I too have been screwed by the tax professionals at H & R Block.
I have used H&R Block for many years, in Maryland, and I have always been happy with their performance. I have recently moved to Charlotte, NC and I guess the standards down south are sub-par. My 'tax professional' entered my home mortgage interest as interest income. I am not an accountant and I do not pretend to be one but last night I looked over my tax paperwork prepared by H & R Block and I noticed this and like 5 other mistakes. I went back to H & R Block and they corrected their mistake and apologized BUT that dose not change that I now have to wait over 2 months for $2000.00 that I should have received in 8 to 15 business days. I don't know how well off you are but I don't like my money earning interest for someone else when it should be in my account. They could have waived their $247.00 fee. As a mater of fact they would not even refund the cost of preparing the 'Schedule B' that was not needed on my return. They claimed it was only a few bucks and I should not worry about it. It goes without saying I will never use H & R Block again and I will try to save anyone else from making that same mistake.
I could not make a mistake that big in my line of work without repercussions.

-Thanks

I got a call a few days ago from David Neese a franchise owner of H&R Block and he apologized for my inconvenience and gave me a check for $247.00. He also fired the lady that did my taxes. I feel like David did right by me. I again feel confident in H & R Block. I will use them as I have in the past. One bad experience that was fixed in a great manor will not stop me from patronizing them in the future.
Hopefully everyone that has had a valid bad experience with H&R Block will get a call like mine.

I had the bad experience for my tax return of 2011. The made a big mistake forgot I had paid my estimated income tax quarterly. Fortunately IRS paid me back the over payment several months later. Their policy is if they make mistake they will refund the preparation fee. They refused to do that and only agree to give me a coupon of $100 for my next tax preparation. Who would like to go back for their terrible service !

Yes H&R Block is horrible. Every visit I have made in the past three years has made me laugh aloud. The "tax experts" are just people who took a summer course and, for the early tax filers, will most likely be their first file they do!

My family members take me along when they go because, although I am not a tax expert, I do know how to file, where to look for deductions deductions, and the overall procedure of income tax filing. Every visit I have made with girlfriend or relative, I have pointed out mistakes and corrected them. Naturally I did miss one of their mistakes and my girlfriend now has the Canada Revenue Agency up her [censor]. On top of that, her mother got cussed out by one the tax reps when she asked “why is taking 2 hours to do my taxes?".

H&R employees brace yourselves, I will make it a hobby of mine to fish out these incompetent workers and bring, justice, for lack of a better word, to those they have screwed over.

Several comments. First, mistakes happen! When you go to the doctor and he gives you a prescription to fix a problem and it doesn't work, do you go get your money back? No you don't! You go back and he gives you another prescription and says, "try this and if your not better in 2 weeks come back". Why does no one ever ask for their money back from doctors?
Second, if they fixed the mistake then you shouldn't complain.
Thirdly, a lot of the mistakes that preparers make are due to uneducated people like most of you not bringing the correct info.

I recently decided to go to HR Block because I had a bad experience somewhere else (LIberty Tax). I went online and picked the most experienced person in the office. To make a long story short, I completed the paperwork on Monday, the refund check should have been ready on Wed. It is not Thursday, my husband calls and he finds out the papers were still sitting on somebody's desk. I'm OUTRAGED! I'm paying them over $260.00 and they have not even doen their job. I want to know who do I contact to get my service charged refunded to me. The manager of that branch has not returned any of our calls.

I've been doing my taxes with H&R Block for many years, and last year they really screwed me over big time. I ended up getting re assessed and owed Canada Rev $1700! RIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS.

To make matters worse, i phoned head office and complained...they told me that there is nothing they can do and it was not their mistake...i told them that the lady who did my taxes was on the phone with Rev Can. for a while and should have known something was wrong. If i wanted to screw up that badly i would have done the taxes myself! WHAT THE HELL AM I PAYING THEM FOR? They proceeded to tell me that that phone call was not documented in my file...i said that obviously their emplyees are not doing their job PROPERLY because Rev Can. has it documented! I then asked to speak to someone with higher authority! I AM STILL WAITING FOR HIM TO CALL ME BACK AND THIS WAS BEFORE CHRISTMAS!

Any advice?

H&R Block / HRB Digital scam practices!

I filed my taxes with H&R Block last year and received the RAL loan with a refund of around 2500. So, I assumed I would be approved for the same loan as a returning customer. I only went to H&R Block to receive my money in 1-2 days. They took about 30 minutes or less as my information was already in the computer. The representative should tell you that you may not get the loan, but they don't because they know that is the only reason most of us are even there. I have done my taxes at home for the past 10 years with the exception of last year and only returned for the RAL.

The very next day I called and was told, like many others, I was not approved for the loan. So, therefore, they charged me 256.00 for doing absolutely nothing for me that I could not have done myself.

How can they actually charge fees this high? My return this year was only 914.00, which I will only see approximately 600.00 due to this company ripping me off by leading me to believe I would receive my money in 1-2 days; when you find out in less than 24 hours you have been denied the RAL load, GUESS WHAT -- THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO BESIDES ACCEPT YOUR FATE!

I just fell into this same trap. as a matter of fact h&r has on its web site that it is a bank. The application also says H&R Block Bank. Therefore I see this a consumer fraud and think the regulators should do something about such bad practices. If I had not called I would still be waiting. The taxpreparer even tried to make it sound good by saying, you will only be charged the fees for the 8 to 15 days. Did not H&R get enough with the last class action suit they lost. i wish the Justice system in this country did a better job.

Most of the complaints I've read have been due to the RALs being denied by HSBC. This is mostly due to a person having an IRS 'Refund Offset'. This is caused by such things as owing back taxes, owing outstanding student loans, or other government guaranteed loans, or owing back child support.

Neither H&R Block nor HSBC has any way of knowing if this applies to someone until after the return has been filed. Unfortunately, since the return has been prepared, filed and accepted by the IRS, H&R Block CANNOT get it back for you to go home and do it yourself.

However, the possiblity that this could happen and the reasons for it are spelled out in the multiple page loan application. The tax preparer is NOT going to read this whole thing to you, so if you can't read, then get someone to read it to you. It specifies that if your loan is denied it turns into a RAC, your loan interest fees will not apply and your refund will be released to you as soon as HSBC gets it (8 - 15 days) for whatever amount is sent by the IRS less your other fees.

If you don't think the fees for the RAC are acceptable for you, then I suggest you don't apply for the RAL and do your return yourself and get the IRS to direct deposit the money directly into your checking account in the first place.

H&R Block / HRB Digital rapid refund on taxes!

My son and his wife went to H & R Block for a rapid refund and spent an extra $200.00 for the service. The ATM they told him to use ate his card. He went back to the office and was told he would be mailed another card in 7 - 10 days. So much for being rapid. After 10 days his new card did not aarrive. He went back to their office, and was told to try to retrive his card back from the ATM machine company. He went to the ATM company across town the next day and was told H & R Block would not allow them to give him his card back.

He went back to H & R Block again and was issued a new card and told the funds would be available in 4 hours. Guess what? The funds where not available and he went back to H & R Block and was told that his original card had not been canceled and he would have to wait another 5 days for a new one.

He is now awaiting a call from a district manager who said he would try to help but was not sure how.

I guess he has people! Working on a tax refund check, I just don't know where they are.

Dementra...take the letter you have received from Canada to your local H & R Block office. Request to speak with either the original preparer you dealt with or a senior preparer well versed in International Taxes. If, for whatever reason, that option fails you, I would ask for the number and address of what is called a "premium office" that might be nearby. Those types of offices have the most educated preparers that HRB can offer, as preparers there are (collectively) certified to do Estates, Trusts, Corporations, Partnerships, 1040-NR, and handle questions on international taxes.

If you live in a remote area and do not know where to turn, type the company's name into a website search engine and use their "find an office" tool to get the one closest to you.

For returns that were filed 1 year ago, does anyone recall that the IRS had a weblink they made available so preparers or citizens could look into the amount of stimulus rec'd? Also, does anyone recall that this link went down during what many at Block call "peak"? We could not validate stimulus amounts received by clients. And guess what - most clients claimed to have received far less than they actually did. I had a smattering of returns that had to be rectified because of this error...odd in that none of them had to be corrected because of the client claiming too much stimulus money from 2008...rather too little.

It is the same situation this year with the $250 ERP that was sent out last spring as part of the ARRA, aka Stimulus Bill. This year, the IRS has no handy-dandy help link and we are totally reliant upon client veracity to make sure we accurately submit information on returns. And guess what - that one area has been the biggest area of rejection this tax season...clients telling us they rec'd nothing when, in fact, they did receive something. I sat with one man just this week for over 30 minutes as he was on the phone with the VA, verifying his ERP status. He had a human on the phone and they verified for him that he'd rec'd the money (client's cell phone he had on speaker mode) and then the client said, "Yea, I thought I might have but just wanted to make sure". I felt like slapping my forehead, as he'd insisted strongly to me...before I suggested he call...that he absolutely had not rec'd the funds.

Again, HRB preparers can be held accountable for mistakes they make, but even on a customer complaint site, let's not fall into the quicksand trap that is believing the customer is *always* right.

And to Michelle and others in the military, if you visit an HRB office, request a person that has many years of experience in completing military returns. If you get a wishy-washy answer in response, then phone another office.

H & R Block made errors on my 2008 tax return resulting in losing 600 on my Federal tax refund. Obviously I am not a satisfied customer and want the $300 they charged me to prepare my taxes. Has anyone recieved their money back?

I agree that H & R Block is a lousy company. They screwed up my 2007 taxes with 2 different mistakes. I have been trying for 2 weeks to get a district manager on the phone. No luck... but they did prepare my 1040X for the corrections. However I now owe 1025. So not only did I pay 230 for them to mess up my return... but now I owe 1025. Good luck every getting a call back from this company. I went to 3 different offices 2 weekends ago... It was like chasing a ghost. I could never find a district manager or for that matter anyone in charge... and at one of the office I confronted by an angry "tax professional" when I was only asking/trying to find out who in the world is running these offices. I also am going to file a complaint with my state Attorney General's office & the newspaper. It is ashamed that others and myself paid good money for horrible service from people who have no idea what they are doing. I think it should be a crime to take our money for such horrible services. Services that in the end wind up costing us more money. And for anyone thinking of having H & R Block prepare your taxes... run away... run fast... because they will never help you if there is a mistake. Forget about "Peace of mind" assurance... HA HA!

i agree with this client because a tax professional that work for block should have known better and did the taxes right because one of our policy is to double check everything before the client leave the office to make sure their tax return is right if the preparer was not sure they should have check with an experience preparer to make sure it was done right

I had my taxes done by H&R Block. I relieved my refund but the IRS took a lot of money from the taxes. I now just received a letter from the IRS saying I owe them another $1500 and now I will probably end up with nothing.

H&R Block / HRB Digital terrible experience!

I had submitted an atm dispute 30 min after the incident occurred on 1/15/08 rep that took call did not do something right i should have had my money back within 48 hours on 1/26/08 I called to find out what was going on and a rep said she did not see a dispute she resubmitted a case and no on 1/31/08 i called to check status and yet another case is submitted. I am tired of waiting for my money especially when I am doing everything I am suppose to do and the mess up is on their incompetent agents part. And the worst thing is I have to sit on hold for more than 30 min at a time and then be on the phone even longer with a rep I just want my money that rightfully is mine.

They admit they have a credit for me but are unable to tell me when they will but it back on my card, it has been a month and I can not get any answers from them. Very unhappy with them and will never do my taxes there again! They need to be put out of business for good.

Don't pay even $89 to have someone fill out a 1040EZ! There is nothing they or anyone can do on that form that will get you even a penny more in refunds, or a penny less owed if you've underpaid. It takes literally five minutes once you've done all the legwork of gathering up your W-2s and other info.
Anything that would help you get more back or pay less would require at least a 1040, if not even more paperwork.

Even if you think you need the money desperately, obviously you've all survived the ridiculous delays they've put you through, right? Which are much longer than if you'd just waited for the money to come to you unaided.

File it on your own (it's free through H and R Block online for the 1040EZ); with direct deposit and it's in your account in 8-10 days, and you owe nobody anything related to it. Even a hard copy check will be in your hands in less than three weeks if you prefer not to do direct deposit for whatever reason.

I just looked at our H & R Block fees, $389! I think that is crazy! Especially since I just looked up what it costs to use Turbo Tax online and its a fraction. I dont get what the hell are we paying so much for? I can input the same info online, what advantage do I have going to "professionals"? They didnt give me any tips or breaks that I couldnt do on my own. I will NEVER go to them again! Crooks! Im super pissed right now. Have you ever seen a breakdown of exactly what you are paying for? Cause I have no idea.

Mystery Responder must work for HR Block. Clearly if you the statement you will see that she is not complaining about the card but HR Block. If the IRS already deposited her money what is the reason for the hold-up? HR Block has been doing these types of things for a while now, I am just glad that I am smart enough to know better. I havent use HR Block in three years and I plan to never go back to them.

Who is the idiot, if it says 8 to 15 days then it could take up to 15 days. Also who ever explained the process to you must not have explained it correctly. The cards are set up so that people who do not have a checking or savings account to direct deposit their refund in to have access to the card to use as a savings account that draws 4 % interest on the amount on the card. Also it makes it easier so u dont have to pay someone to cash your check, and you can have your payroll check direct deposited to the card. If you had questions you should have asked them when you had your taxes filed. Plus it is not H&R blocks fault, the irs did not pass all the tax laws til the middle of Jan so there were a lot of peoples stuff held up. Also there were other tax laws that did not pass til Feb 11th. If you want to complain about something then complain to the irs about the situation. The irs has to approve all tax returns before your money is put on the cards or direct deposited or you get a check printed for it to be legal, no matter what tax company you let do your taxes.

We paid almost $300 for our taxes to be prepared and filed by these idiots. We opted for the 8-15 day refund to be put on the Emerald Card... which was mailed to me a month or so ago. They "claim" that by putting your money on that card you will receive it quicker. Well, I went on the IRS website and it showed that our money was "scheduled" to be put onto the card on the 15th day. If my refund has been approved and released by the IRS, then why am I waiting until the last day to get my money? These people are liars and theives and should not be allowed to mislead the American People any longer.

Incident
I first went to h&r block on lake june balch spring on january 7th, 2008 to inquire about the "emerald card loan". the so called "tax professional" couldn't do the tax return properly so he had to have his "manager" help him. he verbally told me my tax return would be $6309, but he needed my w-2's to finish the return. on january 11th, 2008 I went to the office on 701 e cartwright and had my tax returns done again to get the "emerald card loan". they took my last pay stub for the year with clearly states my income for 2007. again they prepared my taxes. they printed a sheet stating my estimated refund would be $8256 and my 2007 income was $14976, when my last pay stub for the year clearly states I made almost 2 1/2 times that amount. again I wasn't able to get the anticipation loan until I brought in my w-2's, but qualified for the "emerald card loan" of $500.00. when I got my w-2's january 22nd, I rushed down to the office and handed to them. I forgot to bring that paper that clearly states what the refund said I was going to get. I got there and again they had to prepare my taxes. this time I am only to get $3907.60 back in my returns. I called h&r block january 23rd. I have spoken to at least 3 different people in 5 days and every time they said they would call me back because they "had to make phone calls", only again to be put on the back burner. I was told today (1/28/08) that someone would call be back at 2:30pm and it almost 7:30pm and no phone call! h&r block hires people who have no knowledge or have any experience in the tax field and then under trains them. how can you get 3 different return amounts if they were "professional tax experts"? I am still awaiting to hear what the district manager is going to do, after I refused their offer to cut my tax preparation fees in half due to their mistake. but being as they said someone would call me at 2:30pm and I haven't heard from them who knows where this will go.

Damage resulting
Being as h&r block wrote my refund on paper to be $8256 for my refund, I thought I would get that back. so, I took out $3,000+ to get my kids beds and myself an economical car since my work is rather far. as of now I am $3,000 in debt because of their mistake.

Sometimes people seem to forget that we all are humans and therefore subject to human error. That goes for H&R block and any other business. This company does have a Peace of Mind offer where they let the clients know that human error can occur and if so, they hold themselves accountable for it. Please try not to be so critical of people and consider yourself as if it were you the tax professional. Could you do it? Turnover in this business is high. Thank God that someone is willing to be trained to do YOUR taxes even though they have to get help. That is what managers are for... to help the staff. I know that their error was a costly one, but try not to be so hard on people for their humanity. You just might find yourself on the receiving end of the same kind of treatment. How will you measure up?

Refunds are never guaranteed. The higher your income, the higher your tax liability which may result in a lower refund. When you stated that your income was over twice the limit compared to what was entered when you applied for the loan, it changes the anticipated refund during tax season. Unfortunately for you the difference in actual tax refunds are in part due to clerical error when assessing your last pay stub. Hopefully by now, you should have heard from the district manager in your area. 1-800-hrblock or if that fails, you should have arbitration forms in your possession. These are forms that you sign before you file for any product. The loans against refunds and pre season products are heavily geared toward the poor and underserved. I have yet to see a wealthy or rich person apply for those type of products. Good luck

H&R Block / HRB Digital over billing!

Beware, company quotes a 69 dollar prep fee for basic return. They quote additional forms are more. When they did my return, basic form was over 100 dollars, others added up to 550. dollars for the return. Simple return, no stocks, no bank accounts, no nothing to report. Went to three offices and found they charge for each entry placed on the form. They then charge several times for each form that they put that entry on. Each entry is from 7.50 to 40.00 dollars. District manager refused to do any thing about it. He denies everything including the 69 dollar quote. Even when I made him call another office on the speaker telephone from his office and they quoted the 70.00 fee and more for additional forms, he refused to address the issues. Can't believe what they say. Millions of customers(mostly poor and in need seek this service, billions for profit for the company). There should be laws. They also have a bank, sell stocks and bonds, and plan for your retirement. If it's the same business practice in these areas, be careful, be very careful.

I went to H & R Block this year to get my taxes done. The girl, Connie was GREAT. She TALKED to me, asking questions in order to allow me to get the best refund (if any). Other places I have used just assume you already know EVERYTHING that you can show or not show on your taxes. If I knew all that, I would do my long form tax return myself. She was VERY good at customer service relations; Yes I would highly recommend her. The problem: The cost H & R Block charges you to file is ripping off the customer with all the gusto they can. Connie was wonderful with me doing my taxes (a SMALL business with a lot of home issues, mortgages and etc). Yes, I did receive a little over $500.00 in refund, but H & R Block charged $450.00 to file taxes. I don't have an extra $450.00 lying around to throw away, just living paycheck to paycheck. I called the local office to find out where I could call and complain about the outrageous cost, and am waiting for the district manager to call me. Bottom Line: I will call H & R Block next year to see if Connie is there--hoping she will go some other place where they don't take you to the cleaners, but I will NOT use H & R Block again and be ripped off unless THEY MAKE SOME CHANGES IN THEIR FILING CHARGES. THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD STEP IN AND STOP THIS. MAYBE THEY WILL HAVE TO GO OUT OF BUSINESS...

H&R Block not only rip off the clients but also the people they recruit to work for them. They charge a fee of $200+ to take the cousre. A required 69 hours with 80% passing grade. Then you go to another 30 hour class. They have you go to the office you choose to work in to do case studies and state that they pay you (OJT); but they wait until some time has passed and tell you just before the tax season starts the the time you spend in the office doing case studies that you got paid for will be deducted from your commissions. One person told me the first year he really didn't make any money.
They charge the clients exhuberent prices on doing the return and getting an advance loan on the return. I was so disgusted I left and didn't go back. They not only want you to work for free and you're also a bank agent when you offer products for HSBC. The commissions ( no mention of what percentage ) come from the products/services the clients purchases. I agree with you totally, they are a ripoff. That why the IRS is offering tax preparation on their website for free poor poeple can't afford those rates. With the situation the economy is in right now (2008/9) you need every dollar to live. Con Edison, MTA, Food Perscriptopns, everything shot up.

Paid for Peace of Mind Guarantee in 2003, H & R made error on my tax return, they actually admit it but deny my claim due to time constraints. Letter from IRS explaining problem did not reach me in timely manner due to multiple moves... IRS does not forward mail. Have filed an appeal... what a nightmare... H & R Block owes me over $1,300.00.

H&R Block / HRB Digital refund fraud

I work for H&R Block and I know for a fact that the reason the refunds are held up is most of the time because of a wrong SS# for them or the children or they owe something the government can take from their refund and it is held up because of that and my office does not charge them for a RAL if they do not get it.

Thanks,
Barbara

Of course you are gonna agree, you work for a company stealing hard earned money from people who desperately need every penny owed to them. In your line of work i'm sure you all make more than enough with out having to steal from those of us trusting you with our money. The upside to a statement you made was what goes around comes around comes around, and I feel confident that one of these days you people at H&R will find out what karma is all about!
So you just keep loving doin taxes and taking our money!

I also work for H & R Block, their training is great. I am very good at what I do. I am fair, understanding, and caring to my clients, they come back to me time and time again. In LIFE we ALL have choices, just like in our jobs. I never tell my clients which choice to make on getting their refund, that is up to them. I explain each one, and I ask them if they understand each one, then they make their choice. Everyone is complaining about the RAL, after the fact that they took the Money. You could have said NO, like most did. If I believe in a service or product, then and only then will I tell my clients about them. There are products that I agree on and there are others that I don't. I am an Honest person, and I treat everyone with respect. I believe in "What goes around comes back around but worst". I LOVE PREPARING TAXES!

H&R Block / HRB Digital bunch of crap and total rip off!

Hello I've been using h&r block, for years. Never had a problem--the new promotion this year, is called the imil, which 1/2 of your return, is placed on credit card (this year i went with end of the year check stub).

Which they advertise, so i did, an amount was placed on the credit card, for me,,issued by them, with mc logo on it-my first visit,,and the rest to follow--when i brought in the actual w-2,,thats when the crap started, well the remainder of monies owed to me never went on the card--they couldn't find my info in the computer(they claimed computer problems--the manager was useless, i payed 89.95& tax, for the credit card initially, the remainder was issued in two checks,,and of course they subtracted "there fees", even tho it's there "error"--what a bunch of crap--and total rip off. No more h&r block, for me.
