Still waiting
So about a month ago I started firing my taxes online with the tax pro. I actually know what I marked on the box. Because I knew I couldn't afford paying out front for my taxes to be finished. So I had to take it out of my tax return. Then the tax pro proceeds to do my taxes and proceed to put down pay up front instead of taking it out of the tax trip. So when she decides I can finish with my taxes, a couple of days later, she that's me. Look at him and I can't look at him or get him or have him file until there and I know. I specifically said that I cannot afford this up front. I need it taken out of my tax return. And I even messaged her before she even looked at my taxes. You don't even know who she was a message then? And now a month later after 2 tax pros. And 3 freaking appointments that they cannot seem to keep. I am still waiting to get my taxes filed. What is going on in our block? I am getting very unhappy about this situation and I am And I'm thinking about just maybe giving up on you guys altogether because this is just ridiculous. I've been going through you guys for the last 15 years. And now look at what I'm getting. My information was stolen last year. Now, this, this is this completely outrageous to me.
Recommendation: My opinion is do what you want to do. But I'm not going use them again.
Okay. So let's just start with this. I have been going through H and R block for my taxes for the last 5 teen years and last year my information was stolen out of their computer system which they did inform me of this and gave me the option to have my identity information Watched or whatever. It's nit gonna help because I still feel uncomfortable with that situation, just as much as I do that, it's taking them a month to get my filing done this time around because of my tax pros yes 2 if them have them. I kniw I messages the tax before they even looked a5 my stating that this years payments directly from returns. I know i hit the right button on the web page because I don't have the amount they were asking me to pay I mean for them to work on my taxes would have taken my state return alone to pay for their services. And I still have not heard after 3 appointments made and called more then a few times. Still have not heard from them and 4 days before one my appointments i called to them that I changed my number. And gave my nrw number to them. And I still have not yet to hear from them at all. I am not happy about this. I will not go through H & R block ever again for my taxes after this year.
Disappointed with h&r block's peace of mind insurance - beware!
I recently filed my taxes through H&R Block, as I have done for many years. When I went to the office, the employees had some questions about how to add the incentives for my two sons, one of whom is an adult and submits his own taxes. After consulting with the office manager, they decided how to submit the numbers and prepared the taxes.
However, later in the year, I received a note from the IRS stating that I owed them $502.18. When I called the office to inquire about this, Mr. Raymond Giroauard told me that it was obvious that there had been a mistake. He knew exactly where the numbers came from and advised me to present a claim against the Peace of Mind insurance that I had paid for every year.
I followed his advice and submitted a claim to the insurance company. However, I was disappointed to receive a letter from them indicating that the claim had been denied. They stated that they had completed everything based on what we had told them, and that it was our fault that the mistake had been made. They also informed me that the insurance did not cover rebates, which unfortunately the stimulus payment is considered to be.
When I contacted the office again, Mr. Alfikri Montilla informed me that Mr. Giroaurd was out until January. He also told me that I should have looked at the note from our claim department, and that Peace of Mind doesn't cover rebates, which unfortunately the stimulus payment is considered to be. I was disappointed that one agent had been clear about the situation, while the other seemed to blame us for the mistake, just like the insurance company.
After years of using H&R Block for my taxes, I am now looking for a trusted company that will comply with what they promote. I would advise others to be careful when using H&R Block, as the Peace of Mind insurance can end up causing more pain in your pocket than peace of mind.
Misleading and Delayed: My Disappointing Experience with H&R Block
So, I decided to give H&R Block a try this year to file my taxes. I called them up and they told me to come in and file my taxes and they would cut me a check immediately after. I was excited to hear that because I needed the money right away. However, things didn't go as planned.
When I got to H&R Block, they tried to charge me double the price that they originally stated. I refused to pay it, so they adjusted it. I dealt with a lady named Beth, and she was very misleading to say the least. After all was said and done, they gave me an Emerald Card and told me that's where the funds would go. Beth originally told me it would take a couple of hours, and then later she said it could take up to 24 hours. Well, it's been 24 hours, and I still haven't seen a dollar.
Beth also told me that she didn't know how much money would appear on my card when it did show up. She said it could be a couple of hundred dollars or more. What's that all about? What kind of system do you have set in place where you can't tell me when my money is coming or how much would come? That's ridiculous. The whole reason I went to H&R Block was because I needed the money right away. Now I'm stuck waiting and having no idea when my funds will arrive or how much it's going to be.
To make matters worse, I thought I was getting back a couple of grand more, which really pissed me off because I swear they made a mistake, and I would have gotten more back if I did it on my own. Mainly because of Beth and her sneaky misleading ways, I had a terrible experience, and I will never go back. I recommend for everyone else to do the same. Just go to Turbo Tax. It's free, easy, and you get your money in a couple of weeks.

H&R Block Review: Not Worth the Wait or the Price
I recently used H&R Block to file my taxes and I have to say, I was not impressed. I ended up paying $100 for a return that I could have done on another site for only $50. And to make matters worse, I had to wait a whopping 6 hours just to talk to someone. And when I finally did get through, they just forwarded me to another person who then hung up on me. Not cool, H&R Block.
If you're thinking about using this site, here are a few things you should keep in mind. First of all, don't type more than 70 characters on any line. Actually, it's probably safer to stick with 50 characters just to be on the safe side. And don't use commas, pound signs, or any other characters other than letters and numbers. The system will add commas for you, so don't bother.
Secondly, don't expect too much help even though you're paying $100-150. If you really need help, be prepared to get up at the crack of dawn on a Sunday or Monday and plan to sit in front of the TV all day. That's how long you'll wait. We used this service because of the chat option, but we quickly realized that the option is useless.
Now, I will say that other sites don't normally have chat or help service, so that is the only benefit to using H&R Block. But honestly, it's probably more worth it to just go to a tax preparer. Or better yet, take some free online tax courses and do them yourself. To get the best return, you need to be able to adjust what you claim and don't claim. An in-person service will not do this for you. What you turn in is what you get. This is especially important for home businesses, where having just the right amount of deductions can save you big time. Too little and you get burned, too many and you get burned.
In conclusion, if you're only going to save $2.00, is it really worth it to find receipts and do a butt ton of work? Figure out what deductions are worth it and what deductions are not. And if you do decide to use H&R Block, just be prepared to wait and don't expect too much help.
Disappointing Experience with H&R Block: A 50-Year Customer's Review
I've been going to H&R Block in New Jersey for 50 years now, and I've had the same tax preparer for 20 of those years. This year, I had a bit of a problem with my 2020 taxes. The IRS wanted an additional $1,207.38 from me. When I called H&R Block to ask about it, they said it might have something to do with the second stimulus check that we didn't receive. So, I decided to go to the H&R Block office to talk to someone about it.
When I got there, I was met by Ray, an older man who claimed to be a master tax preparer. However, he seemed very confused and wasn't able to answer most of my questions. He did agree that there was a mistake in the H&R Block computer system's calculations, and that I should have been making quarterly payments during 2020. I told him that I had never been told that before in all the years I've been going to H&R Block. But he didn't believe me and said that I was responsible for the errors according to the law. I argued that it was H&R Block's responsibility to know the regulations and have better equipment, but he didn't seem to care.
I asked him about paying the penalty of $216.00, but he said it couldn't be done. He did offer to try and get me $10.00, which was pretty insulting. He also claimed to be a lawyer, which was a red flag for me. It was clear that he didn't know what he was talking about.
As a valued customer of H&R Block for 50 years, I was treated very poorly. It's disappointing to see that a company I've trusted for so long could treat me this way. For my 2021 taxes, I'll be looking for a more professional organization. Harold Nolan.
H&R Block Review: Good System, But Frustrating Paywall and Customer Service
The H&R Block system is pretty good, but they make it hard for you to use it without paying more money. They put the option to get help right when you need it, but you have to pay $9.99 for it. They say you'll get help in 13 minutes, but you end up waiting 40 minutes and then you lose connection. When you try again, you get sent in circles and can't file your return. They warn you that if you print and mail your return, you might get audited by the IRS. But then they offer to do it for you for only $9.99 more.
It would be better if they just charged the pro amount from the beginning instead of advertising free or $19.99 filing costs. That would save everyone time and frustration.
Unprofessional False Advertisement: My Experience with HR Block
So, I wanted to give my two cents about HR Block. They have this option where you can drop off your taxes, upload them, or come in person. I decided to upload them because I thought it would be easier. Cheryl was the one who handled my taxes and let me tell you, the whole process was a joke. I usually do my own taxes, but this year I thought I'd have an "expert" look it over. It took her three whole weeks to finish, and she didn't even call me to let me know it was done. I had to call a few times, and the operator was not very professional. Instead of putting me on hold, she said "Emily something something is on the phone." I tried to be patient, but it was frustrating.
I messaged Cheryl, but she didn't reply. I waited a couple of days before I decided to call and leave a message. Finally, she got back to me, and she said she emailed me instead of calling. She was rude every time I spoke with her. I decided to go in person to see what was going on. She never told me what my upfront cost was, and when we sat down, she was still rude. She even walked off to talk and laugh with the phone operator for a few minutes while I was sitting at her desk. I had already waited three weeks, and I was beyond angry at this point.
We finally got to the end, and she said I had to pay her $250. But the advertisement said it was "free" for basic returns. I asked her how much my return was, and she said it was $100, but I owed $84. So basically, I was only getting $15 back. I told her I would do my taxes myself. This time, I took my time and reviewed everything. And there it was, I was paying taxes for another state that I didn't even live in. Cheryl, being an expert, should have seen that.
I will continue to do my own taxes from now on. HR Block is a lying company that needs to change its name to "unprofessional false advertisement."
H&R Block's Website: Terrible Customer Service and Unnecessary Upsells
So, I just finished doing my taxes on H&R Block's website and boy was it a hassle. I thought I was done after completing my forms for self-employment and the state form, but then they hit me with a "Pro Review" service for $89.00. I was on hold for hours trying to get that charge removed because I've been filing my own taxes for 37 years and don't need a pro review. One person even told me that I had to have it because I filed self-employment, but that's not true at all. It was just a slimy up sale tactic.
After another 50 minutes on hold, I was told that the only way to get rid of the charge was to not file a schedule C, which is also not true. I just wanted to get my taxes filed, so I paid the fee and figured I would try to recover the money later. But it turns out that they sent my taxes to a "Pro" who said it would take 3 days to review them. I told her I didn't want her services or anyone else's, I just wanted my taxes sent. She released them to me, but I couldn't print or send them even though I had paid in full.
And that's not even the worst part. I spent a total of 3.75 hours on the phone and an additional 2.5 hours waiting in their chat just trying to speak to a live person. I was at the front of the queue in the chat multiple times, but it kept bouncing back and forth from 0 to 1 before they finally disconnected me. When I logged back on, they were closed. I was hung up on after waiting 50 minutes, 48 minutes, and then after waiting 56 minutes and being told my call would be answered in approximately 20 minutes, the next message was that my call would be answered in approximately 50 minutes! I held until I was hung up on again.
To make matters worse, they refused to release my tax forms to the IRS. What the heck?
After an additional 2.5 hours, I finally received a refund on the $89.00 charge, but now there are errors that can't be fixed. I created a help ticket, but I still can't file my taxes. It's so frustrating!
Overall, I would not recommend using H&R Block's website for filing your taxes. The customer service is terrible, and they try to upsell you on unnecessary services. Save yourself the hassle and find a different tax filing service.
Misleading Pricing and Policy Changes at H&R Block for Tax Preparation
I made an appointment online for my taxes at H&R Block and received a confirmation text. The day before my appointment, I received a reminder text. When I arrived for my appointment, I was told that I had to drop off my papers instead of having an in-person appointment. I was frustrated because I needed help understanding what was needed and had questions about the recovery rebate credit. I was not informed about this change in policy when I made my appointment, and I was not contacted prior to my appointment. I was told that there was not enough space for in-person appointments at this location.
I had no choice but to leave my papers, but I was unsure about what information was needed. Instead of going to a private cubicle, we went through my private documentation in the lobby area. I turned over all my paperwork and presented a new customer coupon for $25 off my preparation. The pricing of the preparation was not discussed, but when I scheduled online, I saw $79 advertised.
Three days later, the accountant called to tell me my taxes were finished and ready to pick up. She informed me that the preparation cost was $439 after my $25 coupon. I was upset because these extreme costs were not discussed prior to leaving my paperwork. I spoke with several other people who used H&R Block for their tax preparation, and they all confirmed that this was an extraordinarily high price, about twice what they paid. I feel strongly that I was taken advantage of, and this pricing was extreme. I know people who had their much more complicated business taxes completed for less.
Unprofessional and Disappointing Experience with H&R Block: A Cautionary Tale
I recently had an experience with H&R Block that left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. I needed to file a simple return for my LLC and made an appointment at the office three weeks in advance. I made it clear what I needed when I made the appointment, and even dropped off all the necessary documentation a week ahead of time. However, on the day of my appointment, I was informed that the "information system" was down and my appointment was cancelled. I was then shuffled to another preparer, Elba Holguin.
When I arrived for my rescheduled appointment, I was told to wait in the bullpen for Ms. Holguin. She arrived a few minutes late and seemed confused about why I was there. I reminded her of my appointment and that I had dropped off all the necessary documentation. She then realized that her boss had taken the materials and that she needed to be the one to do the return. I was asked to wait in the waiting area until she could fit me in.
After 45 minutes of waiting, I asked the receptionist what was going on. No one seemed to be able to give me an answer. Another hour went by with no progress. I then asked the new receptionist if I could either meet with Monica Hardeman, who was supposedly the only person qualified to file that type of return, or have my documentation returned. A few minutes later, my documents were returned with the news that Ms. Hardeman would not be able to meet with me and a terse "Sorry."
I was not happy with the service I received. My time is valuable, and I felt that it was not respected. The unprofessionalism of the staff was shocking, and I was left wondering how secure my return would be in their hands. I understand that mistakes happen, but this experience was unacceptable.
I would caution anyone considering using H&R Block to be aware of the risks. If they can't even set up an appointment correctly, how can you trust them with your tax return? I learned my lesson and will be using a different, more professional tax preparer in the future.
Terrible Experience with H&R Block: Delayed Refunds and Denial of Responsibility
I gotta say, I had a really bad experience with H&R Block. Like, seriously, do not use them if you value your time and money. Here's what happened: I had my tax returns for 2019 prepared by H&R Block at their Westlake, Ohio office. The person who helped me out there input the wrong Social Security number, and that mistake ended up delaying my refunds for both 2019 and 2020. It's been almost two years now, and I still haven't received my 2020 refund. Can you believe that? It's ridiculous.
The office manager did acknowledge the mistake and gave me a letter outlining the steps they would take to correct it. But then, get this, a company "Senior Paralegal" challenged the authenticity of the letter and denied any accountability for the delays. Like, what? They admitted the mistake, but now they're saying they have no evidence that it caused any delays? It's just a bunch of BS if you ask me.
And to make matters worse, the representatives at H&R Block don't seem to be doing anything to resolve the issue. They hide behind privacy laws and ask for irrelevant information instead of actually investigating the matter and finding a solution. It's like they're just trying to delay and deny any responsibility.
All of this has really hurt me financially. I had to borrow money for school since my refund wasn't available, and it made completing FAFSA more difficult since my returns weren't corrected. And yet, H&R Block still claims it's not their fault. It's just stunningly unprofessional and indicative of a poor work product.
Honestly, I would recommend finding and supporting your local CPA instead. Or, if you're feeling tech-savvy, go with TurboTax. It's a much better bargain, and you won't have to deal with all the delays and denials that come with H&R Block.

2023 tax refund
They charged me $84.00 for my federal but wouldn't do my state despite my several requests. In addition, they clandestinely took an additional $84.05 out of my checking account without leaving a record of it. I know it was them because the $84.05 charge was on one of their web pages but disappeared later. I balanced my account 3 times and was unable to account for the discrepancy.

I spoke with Jasmin originally who gave me a case number and stated that my file will be escalated to the proper party, and that I should hear back from someone in 3-5 business days. On the sixth day I called in and spoke with Kimberely who stated the same thing. I called back on November 27, and spoke with Stephanie or Katherine( I'm so frustrated I don't remember her name) who told me the exact same thing. I told her that I've already heard this twice, no one has called me back and I would like to speak with a supervisor. Mixed Experience at H&R Block: Great Tax Expert, Unprofessional Manager
I recently visited H&R Block to get my taxes done and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome I received from the lady at the front desk. Even though she was wearing a mask, I could tell from her eyes and voice that she was smiling. It made me feel comfortable and at ease.
My tax expert was knowledgeable and efficient. He knew exactly what he was doing and I was satisfied with my return. However, during the 1.5 hours I was there, I witnessed some unpleasant behavior from the office manager. I was told that she was the manager, but the way she was issuing orders was very rude. She didn't seem to care who heard her and even interrupted my tax expert while I was there.
I heard her arguing with someone, saying things like "I can't do that," "do this," "I want this," and so on. She was very loud and rude. Then she just walked away without any explanation. It was embarrassing and unprofessional. My tax expert apologized profusely in a low voice so she couldn't hear, I assume. He said that a lot of things weren't right this year in terms of management.
Despite this unpleasant experience, I felt totally at ease with my tax expert doing my return. I've already received and spent my refund, and I'm happy with the outcome. However, I do hope that the manager is fired for her behavior. It was unacceptable and unprofessional. If my tax expert goes to work in a different office, I will follow him.
HR Block's Paywalls and False Information: A Scam in Tax Preparation Services
HR Block is a tax preparation service that I recently used to file my taxes. I was disappointed to find out that they added paywalls to force me to upgrade to unnecessary services. They alleged that I needed a Schedule B form due to a $20 dividend income, even though the IRS only requires it for +1500 in dividend income. They also claimed that I needed a Medicaid form for +250k income, which was not the case for me.
Without upgrading, I was not able to file my taxes online, even though I had already paid for a version of their service. I tried contacting customer support both online through chat and over the phone, but they knew nothing about tax requirements and were not able to bypass the system.
After spending hours filling out my returns, I finally gave up and agreed to pay more for the upgrade. However, once I did, the requirement for those forms magically disappeared, and I was able to file my taxes online without filling out any additional forms.
This experience felt like a scam to me. HR Block introduced false information to force unnecessary upgrades to their service, and they should be fined and regulated for their actions. I hope that they will improve their practices in the future and provide a more transparent and honest service to their customers.
H&R Block: A Frustrating Experience with Payment and Customer Service
I was really trying to save some cash this year, so I thought I'd give h&r block a try. I went to their website and started entering all my tax information. Everything seemed to be going well, until I got to the end and tried to pay for some extra services. I decided to go for it and paid for the CPA sign off, audit protection, and state tax filing. But when I got to the final screen and entered my bank card information, I got an error message saying they couldn't file my taxes. I didn't understand the code reasons they gave me, so I tried to get some help from their online chat and customer service. But all they kept telling me was that all sales are final. I was so frustrated because I had paid for a service that they didn't provide. I asked for a refund, but they just kept repeating that e-filing federal taxes was free. Well, that might be true, but I had paid for extra services that they didn't deliver. So, I had to go to the bank and stop payment on the charges. It was such a hassle and I don't recommend h&r block to anyone.
Disappointing Experience with H&R Block Tax Services: Multiple Appointment Changes and Closed Office
So, I got an email from H&R Block saying they could do my taxes for me. I was like, cool, I hate doing taxes, so I accepted the appointment they set up for me. But then they called me and said they had to change the appointment. I was like, okay, whatever, I can be flexible. But then they did it again! I was starting to get annoyed. Finally, I went on their website and set up an appointment at a local office. They sent me a text message to confirm the time and place, but when I got there, the office was CLOSED! Like, what the heck, H&R Block? I had to go to another office and they couldn't even give me an in-person appointment. They said they would fax my documents to some other office and hope for the best. No discount or anything for all the trouble they caused me. And get this, the office I had originally scheduled at had been closed for a while and they didn't even bother to tell me! So not cool, H&R Block. I was really disappointed.
H&R Block: Decent Website, Terrible Follow-Up
The website of H&R Block is pretty decent, but that's where the good stuff ends. My usual tax firm decided to shut down this year, which was a bummer since they had been providing me with reliable service for 15 years. I was in a rush to get my taxes done since I had a business trip overseas planned, and H&R Block was conveniently located near my home. I thought it would be a quick and easy process, but boy was I wrong.
It took me a whopping 4 hours to get my taxes done and submitted to both the FED and State. When I got home that day, I was relieved to see a couple of emails from H&R Block informing me that my returns had been accepted. However, my relief was short-lived as I started receiving a barrage of emails from them asking me to rate their service. I was in no mood to deal with this, so I just sent a quick email back saying that the service rep had met my expectations.
But that didn't seem to be enough for them. I kept getting forms to complete, asking me how I felt about their service and if I had any suggestions. I tried to ignore them and hit the delete key, but they just kept coming. It was getting annoying, to say the least. I don't think I'll be recommending H&R Block to any of my friends. If they have a bad experience, they'll blame me for it, and I don't need that kind of negativity in my life. My advice to anyone using H&R Block is to not give them your email address.
Disastrous Experience with H&R Block in Helena, Montana: A Warning to Others
My experience with H&R Block was a complete mess. I went to their office on Euclid Avenue in Helena, Montana and used the walk-in option. I had all my information in order and filled out the required paperwork. However, things quickly went downhill from there.
After some time had passed, I called to check on the status of my tax preparation. To my surprise, they couldn't locate my file and suggested that I must have taken my information to a different office. It turned out that my file was actually under my middle name, but I had to suggest they look there.
To make matters worse, my work was given to a temporary employee who was terminated on April 15th. She completely messed up my taxes and I had to explain the errors to them. When I received a call saying that the mistakes had been corrected, I was told that a particular item of concern couldn't be calculated because it "wasn't in their system." This was frustrating, to say the least.
To add insult to injury, I had been advised earlier that there would be no extra charge because the taxes were originally incorrect. However, when I went to pick them up, there was an additional charge added. I explained that this was not my understanding and ended up not paying the additional fees. It seemed like the right thing to do given the situation.
Overall, my experience with H&R Block was a complete cluster$#*!. I would not recommend them to anyone.
