TurboTax Better hope you do not have a problem, customer service sucks

I have been a TurboTax user for longer than I can remember. Sadly, this is the last time I will be using it. Next year, I'll try some of the competitors. I was almost done with my taxes and the entire program disappeared from my computer. I tried to reinstall it, but it errored out as one was already installed. I uninstalled and reinstalled the program and was forced to purchase my "free" state download. It refused to recognize my saved Tax return. I then had to spend another 4 hours re-entering my information only to face the State download failing. I called Tech support (it took me 2 hours to get a live person through Intuits customer service hell automated answering machine) to talk to a tech support person. This took 20 calls as if you spend too much time trying to get through the automated menu system, it simply hangs up on you. The first time with Tech Support, after an hour, they hung up on me. I called back and it took 2 hours to reach another person. I told them my problem and they said they would be right back. An hour later, I was disconnected AGAIN! Stay away, Intuit is only a shadow of what it was.

Recommendation: Run far, Run fast, do not waste your time or money

TurboTax Scammed by TurboTax: My Honeymoon Ruined

I gotta tell ya, I had a real bad experience with TurboTax. I was all set to go on my honeymoon in just a couple of weeks, and I needed to enable international purchases on my card. But when I called, they told me they only work in the USA and I could only withdraw up to $3000 in 30 days. That was no good for me, since I needed $5000. So I asked to speak to a supervisor, and while I was waiting, another number called me and said they were from TurboTax and could help me get all my money out. They even gave me all my account info, including my last 4 of my social, my address, my DOB, and my transaction history. They said they could let me withdraw half today and half tomorrow, but they needed me to verify a code sent to my phone. I gave them the code, and then the call dropped. When I tried to call back, the number was no longer in service.

I was really upset, so I tried to log into my account online, but they had changed my password. When I finally got in, I saw that there was a $2000 wire transfer to a random email. I tried calling the number on my card about 10 times, but I kept getting hung up on. Finally, I got a hold of a dispute supervisor who helped me dispute the issue and close my account. Unfortunately, they wouldn't let me withdraw the $3000 remaining in my account, and they said they would send me a check in 2-3 weeks.

Honestly, this whole thing ruined my honeymoon, and I feel like I got scammed by TurboTax's own employees. It's really disappointing when you can't even trust the number on your card for help. I hope they do something about this issue, because it's just not right.

TurboTax Turbo Tax Review: Predatory Design, Confusing Jargon, and Hidden Fees

Turbo Tax used to be a great product, but now it's not so great. The explanations are all in tax jargon, which makes it hard to understand. The navigation is also a pain because you have to go through so many steps to get back to where you want to be. It's not like the old days when you could just go straight to the page you needed.

But that's not even the worst part. The design of Turbo Tax is predatory. They keep trying to sell you more expensive products, and if you click on one of the upgrades, you're stuck with it. You can't go back to the lower product without clearing all your data and starting over. I tried to get a refund, but the agents couldn't help me. I ended up paying more than I should have for a product I didn't even want.

And if that's not bad enough, there's a convenience fee for paying with a credit card. I had to pay an extra $80 for my $3000 tax bill. That's just ridiculous.

I wouldn't recommend Turbo Tax to anyone. They're running a racket, and they don't care about their customers. They're just trying to make money off of us. It's not fair, and it's not right. Don't use Turbo Tax. There are better options out there.

TurboTax TurboTax Review: Inefficient, Dangerous, and Expensive

I've been using TurboTax for a good 8 years now. Our filing is pretty simple, just retired and income from Soc. Security and RMD. I've never had any complaints with TurboTax's performance, but this year was different. There were a few things that really got me frustrated.

Firstly, TurboTax couldn't open its own copy of last year's filing document. It tried three times, but no luck. As a result, I had to manually enter a lot of information that could have easily been copied from the old filing document. It was a real pain.

Secondly, when it came to the RMD information from our financial institution where our 401k is, TurboTax wanted our username and password. I couldn't believe it. It really wanted full access to all of our money. Other years, TurboTax was able to retrieve this information just with the TIN number. Of course, I couldn't risk such an idiotic request, so I had to enter all the information manually. But before doing that, I was in such disbelief that I thought I had ended up at a scam page or phishing site somehow. So I spent about two hours checking the internet to make sure I was at the right place and reading reviews about this.

Thirdly, TurboTax for some reason wanted me to sign in with Credit Karma three times during the filing process. Credit Karma is an independent company that can help with tracking the refund money and also getting the refund faster (5 days). Normally, the return takes no more than 2 weeks. I didn't need this service, but they kept insisting on it, arguing that the service was free. Everybody knows there isn't such a thing. After you sign up, you don't know what they do with your information, and at minimum, you'll get a ton of emails from different places. It's just not worth it. In the end, I couldn't print my return or save it to my computer unless I signed up with these guys. I had to back up several screens and search for other ways to get my document, and it wasn't straightforward to do this.

Fourthly, while going through some reviews of TurboTax, I found out that it's one of the most expensive services out there these days. I was really surprised by this.

Lastly, I submitted a complaint with TurboTax itself at the end of the filing process, but I haven't heard anything back from them. It's really disappointing.

In conclusion, I don't think I'll be using TurboTax again. They're not only inefficient but dangerous too. It's just not worth the hassle.

TurboTax TurboTax: A Disappointing Experience with Inaccurate Tax Preparation and Hidden Fees

So, I used TurboTax for my federal taxes last year because my source of income changed. I wanted to make sure that I was treating my income properly. You know, with all the pandemic stimulus checks going around, I wanted to be sure that I was getting what I was entitled to. I didn't qualify for the third round of stimulus checks because I don't have a qualifying child. But, TurboTax told me that I did qualify and projected a refund of $1,601. I was ecstatic! After their $158 fee, I was still going to get $1,443. But, my excitement was short-lived. The IRS disagreed with TurboTax's assessment and my refund was reduced to $201. After the $158 fee, I was left with only $43.

Today, I received a check in the mail for $13. I was confused. What happened to the remaining $30? According to the note that came with the check, TurboTax's disbursement company was unable to deposit the $43 into my account. So, they deducted $30 in fees and cut me a check for the remaining $13. I have been using the same account since 2015. My paychecks, federal and state tax refunds, and even my retirement checks have been directly deposited into the account. But, TurboTax couldn't deposit my measly $43 refund check?

To make matters worse, at the bottom of Form 1040, there is a space for "Paid Preparer Use Only" information. This is where Intuit TurboTax should have been listed. But, they didn't even acknowledge on my tax form that THEY prepared my taxes! The line that asks for the firm's name says "Self-Prepared." No, TurboTax prepared my taxes - that's why I paid them.

So, let's recap. The professionals at TurboTax: 1) Claimed a tax credit for me to which I was not entitled; 2) do not acknowledge on my tax form that THEY prepared my taxes; 3) could not deposit my refund into an account I've used for 7 years; and, 4) stole an additional $30 from me because they couldn't deposit the refund into my account and had to cut me a Cashier's Check.

I do have Proof of Purchase for this tax preparation, but I am hesitant to attach it (even though it remains private) because it includes all of my personal information. Likewise, my pictures are not great because I was trying to avoid photographing personal information.

I am going to file a complaint with the Attorney General of the State of California, where TurboTax's headquarters are located. In years past, I believe TurboTax has gotten into a bit of hot water for deceptive practices, but it seems they may not have learned their lesson.

Overall, I am extremely disappointed with TurboTax. I trusted them to prepare my taxes accurately and efficiently. Instead, I was left with a fraction of what I was promised and a lot of frustration. I would not recommend TurboTax to anyone.

TurboTax Turbo Tax Stole My Money: A Frustrating Experience with Their Max Service

So, I was trying to do my taxes on my own, without any help from live services. I had never used the chat bubble before, so I didn't think I needed it. But then, my funds were stolen, and I needed some help. That's when I saw the option for the max service. I was confused about what that was, but I saw two prices: one for $129 and one for $58. I thought that was the fee for me filling online with them, so I started the process. I clicked on what I thought was a payment option of $59, but it turned out to be something else. It itemized the service order, and I saw that I was going to be charged $188, which was both fees combined to complete my $108 tax return. I was so frustrated that I went to the top of the page and hit the = button to log out. But as I hit log out, a confirmation of purchase popped up on my screen. I freaked out and checked my bank, and sure enough, there was a pending charge of $188. I contacted support and was given an email to request a refund of the charges from Intuit. I explained in detail what happened, and I got a confirmation email saying it would be 5-7 business days to be processed. If it was the weekend, it would take longer to be reviewed. But then, 30 minutes later, I got a CLOSED case email and was told that if I didn't use the services, I couldn't get a return due to it not applying to the satisfied customer act. What?! So why was I charged if my taxes weren't even completed? You said I didn't use the service in the email, yet I'm told no refund?! I didn't use them to fill after that happened. I then filled my tax return with H&R Block and reached back out to Turbo Tax to advise that I had completed a FREE tax return to again prove I hadn't finished my return with them. So no return confirmation, but the fee was completed?! How is that possible? I've been robbed by someone who was supposed to help me keep what money I had earned. No one with a rational thought process would ever pay a fee that exceeded the amount of the service. I have demanded my stolen funds be returned. I will never see it, but I hope this is just as much of an inconvenience for someone as it is for me. Word of mouth works way better than reviews. I will tell all I meet of my experience and beg them to use anyone else they can. I work in public service and will make sure as many people as possible will be saved from this theft.

TurboTax TurboTax Customer Service is a Nightmare: Unable to File Accurate Tax Return and Refused Refund

I was told by the Customer Service that the 8915 F form would be available on March 25, 2022, but it wasn't. I spoke to the Customer Service again on March 28, 2022, and was told that the form would be available on March 31, 2022, and I "would just have to wait". I tried to file my taxes on April 1, 2022, but I was unable to do so because, after countless hours in chats and on the phone with Customer Service, the 8915 F form is still not included in my tax return.

I was also prompted to select an upgrade that I didn't need or want, and the Customer Service told me that I would need to cancel my tax return (yes, the one I spent hours working on), choose another option, and start over again. I spoke to the Customer Service again, and I was advised to pay for the upgrade, file my taxes, and that Turbotax would refund the difference for the less expensive option that I needed. I paid as advised, and when I went to file my tax returns, I realized that the 8915 F form was still not attached to my 1040. So, I contacted the Customer Service again on April 1, 2022.

The Customer Service Rep read, researched, and had me reenter the area pertaining to my 8915F form. As advised, my refund was given except for the $49.00 I paid for the Max Benefit. The Rep said the system would not allow her to refund the $49.00 I paid for the Maximum upgrade.

We were on hold for an unacceptable period of time waiting for Tier Two and the Resolution Desk to respond to our request for assistance. We were told by Tier Two for Customer Service (who was very rude and didn't know how to use the program) that the $49.00 would not be refunded, and the service it paid for could not be used. I was told by the Customer Service on another call that I could file without the 7815F form, so I asked the Customer Service to add the option I choose, and I would file without the 8915F form as advised. I was told by the Customer Service that I could not use that account any longer. I would have to start over and pay again!

So, TurboTax cannot file an accurate tax return on my behalf, I cannot add back the option I choose and file my tax returns, and TurboTax is just keeping my $49.00?

After four hours on the phone (mostly on hold), I was referred to the Resolution Desk and spoke to the Service Rep who provided me a service code to resolve my issue and refund my $49.00, but the instructions in the email didn't match the program options because I already paid for the services, and so, I was back on the phone with Customer Service AGAIN, on hold for 50 minutes AGAIN, just waiting for "approval" to contact the resolution desk, and without resolve AGAIN, we tried to reach the resolution desk only to be put on hold AGAIN, and then the phone was disconnected! AFTER SEVEN HOURS ON THE PHONE WITH TURBOTAX YESTERDAY... NOTHING HAS BEEN RESOLVED!

The Service Rep called me back only to be put on hold again waiting for the Resolution Desk. I was then referred to a Manager and was told that I do not qualify for a refund. WHAT?! TurboTax cannot provide me with the 8915 F form I need to file my taxes accurately, and I don't qualify for a full refund? I sent an email to the CEO, and I am awaiting a response.

TurboTax Customer Service needs a major overhaul, and until that time, it is my opinion that you should just move on and don't even consider doing business with TurboTax.

TurboTax Turbo Tax Deluxe Review: Terrible Customer Service and Software Glitches

I went to the store and bought Turbo Tax Deluxe on a disc. I was hoping it would be as good as they said it was. I wanted to file my taxes online and make it easier for me in the future. But it didn't work out that way. When I put in my information, I noticed that the software changed the amount I entered for the AGI. I had never used tax software before, so I put in the amount that was on my forms from the previous year. But when I tried to file, the IRS rejected it. I followed the instructions they gave me, but the software still wouldn't accept it. I had to wait on hold for 40 minutes and then finally got to talk to Eric in customer service. He told me that the software rounds up and that I should say I didn't file last year. But isn't that lying to the IRS? He said it wasn't and that it was a 3rd party. But if it's a 3rd party, why did the email and text say it was rejected by the IRS? And why didn't they tell me they were giving my information to a 3rd party? Eric said it would work, so I did what he said. But then I got another email and text saying it was rejected again.

I contacted the Intuit Office of the President and talked to Candace, but she wasn't helpful at all. I emailed the executives listed on the Intuit site, but they haven't responded. It seems like the culture of bad customer service starts at the top. I asked for a refund and for my information to be removed from their systems and the 3rd party's system. But they just told me to fill out more forms, which puts more of my information into their system. Their final response was that they couldn't do anything else.

If you want an easy experience, don't use Intuit products. This experience was anything but easy. As someone who has worked in customer service for a long time, I expect a lot from customer service agents, especially in escalations. But this was a terrible experience.

TurboTax TurboTax 2020: A Disaster - Unusable CD, Rejected Online Filing, and Endless Phone Calls for Refund

I've been using TurboTax for a long time, at least 8 years. I never had any major problems before, but this year was a disaster. I got the Turbotax CD for 2020, but I had a subscription, and the disk came automatically, without any obvious information about system requirements. When I tried to install it, I learned that my operating system (Macintosh High Sierra 10. 13. 6) was not supported. I couldn't do the install, and I paid $70 for a package that proved unusable. I was really upset that Intuit didn't notify customers about system requirements.

So, I decided to use the online application instead. I paid another $90, but I got a "rejected" notification pretty quickly. I scanned through and found I'd made one error, typed an incorrect digit in the "payer ID number" for an annuity. I clicked on the link for editing my return, and it allowed me to change the incorrect number. But then, it would NOT allow me to re-file! I downloaded all the paperwork into a PDF and went through it on paper. There was one page for "Pension and Annuity income". That page was number Page 2, and began with a Section II -- there was no corresponding Page 1, and so I obviously assumed there was a missing page. I made call after call to ask a very simple question: "Is this paperwork complete?"

I had to make four calls, and each call took about an hour. The operators didn't understand my question, and they kept telling me I couldn't file via TurboTax. I reminded them that I'd paid $160 to get an easy-to-use tax filing system AND to get answers to questions about using their software. But they just hung up on me. Finally, I got a very patient, courteous operator who genuinely tried to help but couldn't. The bottom line was that, once you've modified an entry, you can NEVER re-submit it via TurboTax. I said this makes no sense. The operator sympathized. I mentioned that I needed a refund for the simple reason that the product did not work. This operator tried; told me I had a choice. She could give me EITHER a) a $45 refund on my online version (half-refund) OR a full $70 refund for the unusable CD I'd gotten earlier. Of course, I asked for the $70 refund.

This entire experience was an endless rabbit hole of non-responsive phone calls and nonsense explanations. I explained to the last operator that I've been using TurboTax for years, including one previous time when I got one rejected and just fixed the error and re-submitted. I also mentioned that I'd been doing my taxes on paper for more than almost 50 years before that, and I NEVER experienced such a difficult time (my taxes are not especially complicated). I will never use Turbo Tax again!

TurboTax TurboTax's Negligence Cost Me My California Stimulus Package: A Senior Citizen's Experience

I'm a senior citizen and I've been living in California for almost 65 years. I needed to file my 2021 tax return to qualify for the California stimulus package created by our governor, Gavin Newsom. I searched around for a reputable tax preparer and found TurboTax. They claim to be experts and even teach tutorials on the stimulus program. I saw their advertising with two happy accountants claiming total satisfaction and that they have your back. I made it clear that I was preparing this return to qualify for the 2021 stimulus package. Otherwise, I wouldn't need to file a return since my income was minimal and I receive a small stepping from Social Security. I rely on the past stimulus packages to purchase food and pay my expenses.

Unfortunately, TurboTax's negligence and total disregard for my situation has caused me a lot of trouble. I've called, sent letters, and contacted them on the internet, but they've ignored me and responded with canned letters asking me to prepare a review of them. I've pleaded with them, asking why they're ignoring me and if I've done everything I need to do to qualify for the stimulus package in California. This has been going on since February of 2021.

I even contacted the FTB and was finally told that I didn't qualify for the stimulus payment in California because TurboTax put down a zero for my income. The FTP person told me that TurboTax should have put down my information so that they could contact me if they had any questions or concerns. If you're applying for a free tax return as they advertise, be prepared not to get anything from them. You're not in the loop, and you're subject to a bunch of logarithms.

I personally called the Franchise Tax Board and was advised that the deadline for filing any kind of amended return had passed on October 15th. If TurboTax didn't want to do my return, they could have sent me a short note advising me of this so that I could consult another tax preparer. If TurboTax had put down $1 for my income, I would have qualified for the stimulus package. However, I was never advised of this. I did have some minuscule income in the year 2021, definitely over $1, but nobody made it seem important.

I asked if they would kindly amend my complaint to fit in with all the requirements, but they said it was too late. If they had to file an amended return, they would have to charge me for it. They style their main office as "Office of the President," which I think is too pretentious. The gal called me once from there and told me that all the numbers included in my return and all the people/experts that worked on my return were just technical numbers that no human could be held responsible for. I asked them to refund me $600 as that's what I could have gotten had their return been prepared correctly, but they refused.

I don't think that's fair or reasonable, and I'm going to take them to court. All of this has made me livid, and I think my health has gone downhill because of it. Is there anyone out there willing to help?

TurboTax Disappointing Experience with TurboTax: Lack of Personalized Assistance and Delayed Federal Return

I recently used TurboTax to file my 2021 taxes, and I have to say, I was disappointed with the experience. While I have used TurboTax for years and always selected every option they offer for an additional fee, this year was different. I needed additional assistance due to a discrepancy, and I was hopeful that the extra fee I paid would provide me with personalized, expert assistance. Unfortunately, that was not the case.

The first indication that something was wrong was when my Federal Return was delayed significantly. While my state return was accepted and refunded within a week, I heard nothing about my Federal return for several weeks. I checked my TurboTax account regularly, but there were no updates or indications that anything was wrong. It wasn't until I went to IRS.gov that I found out I was missing a document, and that my refund had been significantly reduced as a result.

When I contacted TurboTax for assistance, I was disappointed to learn that the "Expert Tax Advisors" were just call center customer service agents. While they were pleasant and tried to be helpful, they had no more knowledge of tax law than I did. I was not connected to a CPA, and I did not receive any personalized assistance. Instead, I was left to navigate the complex tax code on my own.

What's more, TurboTax did not provide me with any indication that I was missing documentation or that my return had been adjusted. I never received an email or notification from TurboTax indicating a discrepancy with my return or the need for additional documentation. Despite multiple requests for assistance, I was left to figure out how to handle the amendment on my own.

Overall, I was disappointed with my experience with TurboTax. While I have used them for years, I will not be using them again in the future. I would encourage others to take advantage of the many free options available for filing your taxes, and if your taxes are complex enough to require assistance, please hire a reputable CPA.

TurboTax Assist & Review

It's my first time doing taxes in Canada. I used TurboTax as they were recommended. No idea why. Can't ReFILE yet as I am under review by CRA for claiming moving expenses I was told was "standard". 12 weeks since filing my return, no NoA yet and 2 contacts on TurboTax have given me differing information. What did I pay $203 for?

Contact the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) directly to clarify your situation and get accurate information about your return and review status. For future reference, consider consulting a local tax professional who specializes in Canadian taxes, especially since this is your first time filing in Canada. If you feel you didn’t get the service you paid for from TurboTax, request a refund from them, explaining the issues you faced.

Is TurboTax Legit?

TurboTax earns a trustworthiness rating of 91%

Highly recommended, but caution will not hurt.

Our conclusion: After a detailed review, ComplaintsBoard finds TurboTax to be a trustworthy company. Although there's a 6% resolution rate for customer complaints, which deserves attention, TurboTax is known for their high standards and safety. If you're thinking about dealing with TurboTax, it's wise to check how they handle complaints.

We found clear and detailed contact information for TurboTax. The company provides a physical address, 2 phone numbers, and email, as well as 3 social media accounts. This demonstrates a commitment to customer service and transparency, which is a positive sign for building trust with customers.

Turbotax.com has a valid SSL certificate, which indicates that the website is secure and trustworthy. Look for the padlock icon in the browser and the "https" prefix in the URL to confirm that the website is using SSL.

Turbotax.com you are considering visiting, which is associated with TurboTax, is very old. Longevity often suggests that a website has consistently provided valuable content, products, or services over the years and has maintained a stable user base and a sustained online presence. This could be an indication of a very positive reputation.

TurboTax website is deemed to be popular and indicating that it receives a high volume of traffic. It is important to be cautious when using a highly trafficked website, as it may be a target for cybercriminals looking to exploit vulnerabilities or steal personal information.

However ComplaintsBoard has detected that:

  • While TurboTax has a high level of trust, our investigation has revealed that the company's complaint resolution process is inadequate and ineffective. TurboTax Filing 2023 taxes

I have filed with Turbo Tax for several years without any major problem but this year it was bad. First the price went up 75% since the 2021 filing. Talking to them they gave me a code for a small credit that it did not go thru, so the charged me the full fee $273. Now they refuse to give me the credit because is already filed.

Customer service is horrible. Yesterday I spent 5 hours trying to E- file because of a bug they had in their system but nobody knew anything.

Very disappointed this year, so it will be my last year with Turbo Tax.

Claimed loss: I want my credit that was approved. I follow the instructions and it said that all was OK, but I did not get the credit in my final fee. Now they refuse to give me the credit because the return is already filed.

Desired outcome: Please refund in my account that credit. It is not my fault that your system did not work properly.

Yesterday, February 28, 2024, I filed my taxes using TurboTax. In the online form I chose to have my federal income taxes paid on April 15 using my credit card. Instead, my credit card was charged right away. And for the service of using a credit card, a fee was also added. I complained online and the agent told me that this was happening to lots of people...

TurboTax TurboTax: A Disrespectful Scam That Needs to Be Shut Down by the Government

TurboTax is a company that has been causing a lot of frustration for its customers. They claim to offer free services, but when it comes down to it, they force you to pay money regardless. It's disrespectful to the customers who are just trying to file their taxes without any hassle. The government should really step in and shut this company down. It's unbelievable that they're allowed to continue operating in this manner.

The employees at TurboTax don't even seem to know what's going on with the website and how it conducts itself with every step of the tax paying system. There's no buffer between tax officials and customer service, which means that customers are left to fend for themselves. And if you want to talk to a tax official, you have to pay for it. That's not customer service, that's a scam.

Every time I talk to someone at TurboTax, they tell me that I just have to pay for it and then request a refund. That makes no sense. Why would I pay for something that's failing to take care of the things that I needed to take care of? TurboTax needs to get its act together and start providing real customer service. It's not fair to the customers who are just trying to file their taxes and move on with their lives.

I'm going to make it my life's mission to make sure that changes happen within the whole entire company. The founding members of this thing need to be ousted for the corporatized greedy individuals they are. TurboTax needs to start treating its customers with respect and stop trying to scam them out of their hard-earned money. It's time for a change, and I'm not going to stop until it happens.

TurboTax TurboTax Review: Good for Simple Returns, but Consider Other Options for Complicated Taxes

I've been using TurboTax for a long time now and it's been pretty good at handling my consulting engineering work, investments, and rental property. The interface is easy to use and I like how it brings data from the previous year into the next year's return. However, I did find that TurboTax's ability to pull data from financial accounts can be inconsistent, which means I have to carefully review everything and do a lot of data entry.

Last year, we sold our rental property and I found that TurboTax Premier wasn't up to the challenge of handling such a common transaction. There were a few issues that I encountered:

1. Depreciation on improvements had only occurred in the year the asset was installed, even though these were installed over two different years (new roof, new well, paved driveway).
2. I couldn't add those assets to the tax basis for the sale and I couldn't edit my attempts. Each try added new assets with no connection to the rental property.
3. When I contacted TurboTax chat for help, they advised me to clear my file and start over. I did this once but had the same problem.

If I had stayed with TurboTax, the sale would have resulted in about $9k of taxable profit. Instead, I bought TaxAct Premier for about $100 and had no troubles with the property sale. The program even prompted me to the Carry Forward of disallowed losses section, which allowed me to report significant taxable losses from the past.

As a result, I ended up with a small taxable loss on the sale and a significant deduction for the carryovers. I went from TurboTax's calculated tax bill of nearly $10k to a tax return of about $10k. That's almost a $20k difference!

Overall, I still think TurboTax is a good program, but it's not perfect. If you have a more complicated tax situation, you might want to consider other options like TaxAct. Just be prepared to do a bit more work and double-check everything to make sure you're getting the best possible outcome.

TurboTax Turbotax Review: Disappointing Experience with Payment Rejection and Penalties

I've been using Turbotax for years now, but this year was a bit of a disappointment. My spouse and I got married and we had to file a joint return. I filed for an extension and scheduled the payment of taxes in early April. However, when I checked my account on April 21, I noticed that the payment was not removed. I was shocked and immediately called Turbotax to inquire about it. To my surprise, I was told that the payment was rejected, but I didn't receive any notification about it. I paid the taxes by April 25, but the experience left a sour taste in my mouth.

When I finally obtained my wife's brokerage statements, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that my taxes were reduced and I was expecting a refund. However, just this week, I received a notice saying that I owe interest for 10 days, which amounts to $61. On top of that, I was hit with a 6652 Failure to File Penalty and a Failure to Pay Penalty, which amounts to $1,523! I was shocked and frustrated because I had filed a case in April when I uncovered this issue, but Turbotax didn't seem to care.

When I called Turbotax to inquire about the penalties, they basically told me that it wasn't their fault and that I should have seen something. I suggested that they take note of the issue and make sure it doesn't happen to others, but they were rude and dismissive. I was disappointed because I thought the company was interested in continuous improvement, but it seems like they don't care about their customers.

My takeaway from this experience is that Turbotax is just a tool for filing taxes. If you decide to use it, make sure you file early and check independently what they claim to do. It might be better to print and mail your tax return with a check. I don't think it's worth paying a premium for Turbotax compared to other options because any image of care or uniqueness is a lie. If you're a disappointed customer like me, the best way to convey your feelings is through reviews. I've noticed that I'm not alone in my disdain for Turbotax, so I would recommend avoiding it and looking for better options.

TurboTax TurboTax Review: Great Platform, Terrible Audit Defence Service - Avoid at All Costs

TurboTax is a great platform to use for filing your taxes. The interface is super easy to navigate and if you ever need help, there's always a tax expert available to chat with you on the sidebar. I found all the TurboTax representatives to be super helpful, they're based in Canada and the assisted review has helped me a lot. There's even a way for the assistant to view your computer screen live as you see them on video live with you.

However, I do have a warning for you. DO NOT get Audit Defence from TurboTax. You might be tempted to purchase additional Audit Defence "to help you in case you get audited". It sounds like a great service until you realize what the reps are like and how your file will be handled. I've bought Audit Defence twice and both times were a terrible experience (latest experience in May 2023). The only reason I got it a second time was to give it another chance.

First of all, the reps from Audit Defence (I spoke to Cameron and Elizabeth) are all really rude. Also, when CRA sends you a Review Letter, you're given 30 days to respond. You can request more time from CRA if needed. But just to let you know, Audit Defence will automatically tell you they will not meet your deadline. On top of that, they will tell you they have so many files ahead of yours that they cannot estimate when they will get to your file! Uggh, okay, so as paying customers you don't know if it will take two months or six months for Audit Defence to get to your file and actually help you.

The process is rather ridiculous and their poor customer service attitude makes it even worse. Avoid it. Just submit the documents yourself to CRA or get an accountant to help out for a fee. Trust me, it's not worth the headache.

TurboTax TurboTax: A Scam and a Fraud - My Experience with Intuit

I recently used TurboTax software for the first time in years, as I was in a desperate situation and needed my refund in advance. As an unemployed single mother, I needed this advance to provide daily necessities for my daughter. I paid a $39 fee, which I did not have, but was willing to pay as I would get it back with the advance. Although my return could have been filed for free, I agreed to pay this fee for a service that TurboTax did not provide.

I spoke with TurboTax representatives multiple times, but they told me that they did not show that I applied for the advance. However, my tax return documents provided by them clearly show that I did apply for it. The bank that funds this loan also stated that they did not have an application on file and advised me to call TurboTax.

To make matters worse, I was forced to open a checking account with Credit Karma, which is also owned by Intuit. Now, my refund will be deposited into this account, rather than my own trusted checking account. It seems like a scam to me because both Credit Karma and TurboTax are owned by Intuit. Not only did Intuit get $39 of "free" money for a service I could have paid $0 for, but now my money is going into another account they also own.

I have requested a refund of my $39 fee, but my request was denied. Thanks to TurboTax, I now have to wait an additional 4 weeks to get my refund and may lose everything that I have, not to mention being unable to provide for my child. Unfortunately, I am not the only person that your company has screwed over in this exact way. There are hundreds of people that this has happened to.

I will never use TurboTax or any Intuit products again. They are a scam and a fraud. The least your company can do is refund my $39 fee.

TurboTax TurboTax Review: Terrible Customer Service, Non-Refundable Live Assisted Option, and Rejected Return

I recently used TurboTax to file my taxes and I gotta say, it was a real bummer of an experience. Not only did my return get rejected by the IRS, but I also had to spend countless hours on the phone with their customer service reps, who were about as helpful as a screen door on a submarine.

I called TurboTax with a quick question, but before I knew it, I was on the phone for what felt like an eternity. They told me to use their Live assisted option when I was checking out, but I didn't realize that it was a non-refundable product. I mean, come on, how was I supposed to know that?

When my return got rejected by the IRS, I tried to get TurboTax to help me fix the issue, but they were about as useful as a one-legged man in a butt-kicking contest. So, I had to go to an accountant and pay them to file my taxes. I mean, what a waste of time and money.

I asked TurboTax for a refund, but they denied my request twice. Their customer service reps were about as responsive as a brick wall, and they just kept passing me from one person to the next. It was like they were playing hot potato with my issue.

Honestly, it feels like TurboTax is just trying to scam me out of my hard-earned money. I didn't know that Live was a non-refundable product, and I think I should be entitled to a refund given the circumstances.

I wouldn't recommend TurboTax to anyone. Their customer service is a joke, their Live assisted product is a rip-off, and their refusal to give refunds is just plain wrong. Do yourself a favor and use a different tax filing service. Trust me, you'll thank me later.

TurboTax TurboTax Review: Easy-to-Use Platform, But Impossible to Cancel Subscription

TurboTax, where do I even start? I've been a loyal customer for years and loved how easy it was to use. However, when my needs changed and I no longer required their all-singing, all-dancing package, I decided to cancel my subscription. Last year, I didn't update my credit card information and sent a message to let them know that I no longer needed their service. But what did they do? They charged my expired credit card! I ended up using TurboTax since I had already paid for it, but it was a hassle.

This year, I made sure to update my credit card information on their site, but I'm still receiving emails telling me that my card is no longer current and needs to be updated. I've written to them, but haven't received a response. So, I decided to call their customer service line and was connected with Paresh, who was probably a nice guy but was difficult to understand due to his accent. He asked for more information than necessary to cancel my subscription, such as the refund amount from last year. Who remembers that? It's in my files in another area that I couldn't access while on the phone.

I got frustrated and angry because all I wanted to do was cancel my subscription, but it was one step away from impossible. There are no email customer service addresses, which is frustrating. They lure you in with their easy-to-use platform, but it's nearly impossible to cancel without a special dispensation from God. If they try to charge my card again, I will be filing several fraud charges against them. I've called, written, and removed my information from my account, but I still receive emails telling me that they are about to send me the product.

There's something unsettling about a company that goes out of its way to make it difficult to cancel their service. I'm not saying that they're deliberately fraudulent, but it's concerning. I used to love TurboTax, but now I'm not so sure.

TurboTax TurboTax Review: Not Worth the Hassle Anymore

I gotta say, I'm not too thrilled with TurboTax. I've been doing taxes for myself, my mom, and my daughter for years now, but this might be the last year I use their service. I've been working in accounting for a while, so I know a thing or two about taxes. And let me tell you, TurboTax has been giving me some serious headaches lately.

Their self-employed programming has been a real pain in the butt. On my daughter's account, the program kept freezing up and I had to keep making new emails and passwords just to start over. It was a real mess. They finally sent me the software to file offline, but that meant I had to enter everything manually the next year. And that's not even the worst of it.

Last year, I couldn't even print my return! I had to ask my daughter to email it to me so I could have a PDF copy. And wouldn't you know it, TurboTax lost all my records! Luckily, my daughter was able to retrieve the federal return, but I have no record of the state form. And this year, they claim I used a different ID to file, so they have no record of my taxes. None at all! So now I can't even access my state return.

And don't even get me started on their customer service. It's practically non-existent! They make it impossible to get help for a prior year return without buying the current year's product. And if I get audited? Forget about it! They claim they'll be there to represent me, but how am I supposed to contact them if they don't provide a way to talk to a real person?

I know they say they guarantee their product, but I highly doubt they'll be there for me if the IRS comes knocking. And to top it all off, they don't even have a way to retrieve information based on my social security number or phone number. It's like they don't even care about their customers.

So yeah, I think this might be the last year I use TurboTax. It's just not worth the hassle anymore.
