HUGE SCAM! STAY AWAY! I ordered a background check from them for $.95. They emailed me a confirmation that they will be charging my account for $.95 but failed to let me know that they will automatically sign me up for an Identity Theft Protection. They charged my account every month for $19.95 without my consent. They are more than happy to cancel the automatic charges as soon as you call and place the cancelation order; however, they refuse to refund all of the money that they unethically stole every month! They make their money from individuals who do not monitor their account regularly. Bottom line, they are hoping that you never look at your statement to realize that they are stealing $19.95 from your account.
The website is very misleading and is unclear that they will charge your account every month!

I was charged for three months $19.95 after looking up one phone number for $4.99. They said I signed up for a monthly 100 checks for the $19.95? Who does that? 100 checks a month? really? In the end no refund? Scam artist at its finest...
I only wanted to find a friend back in December, and now in Februaery I notice that they are still charging me a $19.95 fee? They are idiots, and I recommend that you tell everyone that you know about this companys shady tactics. How is it that they are not under investigation? If you rob someone on the street you will most likely go to jail...
The only way to get your money back from Intelius is to complain to the BBB, your state Attorney Generals Office and to call Pam Mauger Shepherd, Finkelman, Miller & Shah, LLP 35 E. State Street Media, PA 19063 Tel: 610/891-9880. Their law firm is looking for people who were scammed by Intelius who couldn't get their money back to file (yet another) class action lawsuit. Do not reply to the person with the profile in the upper right hand corner called Naveen - he is with Intelius and will not help you.
They will say they have the information you are looking for but after you pay the $4.99 the report will be essentially empty. No name, no address, nothing...when they clearly stated they had the name and address that corresponded to the phone number you are searching. Total scam. And no, they do not respond to any form of communication.
This is a COMPLETE rip off! I keep getting the run around. I am following all of the directions to delete my acct on that are on the website, going to the services tab, and what is supposed to be there IS NOT. It makes it IMPOSSIBLE to delete acct! I only paid .95 but I would pay that just to have this company SHUT DOWN. I wish I would have seen this post before I entered my credit card information. I will NEVER use their services again. It gives too much of a run around and you have to keep paying to get more information.
JUST SAY DISPUTE THEY HAVE TO REFUND ALL CHARGES, ONCE A CUSTOMER SERVICE REP GETS ON THE PHONE AND YOU PROVIDE ALL YOUR INFO TO THEM FIRST AND LAST NAME AND THE BILLING ADDRESS AND THEY SAY THANK YOU HOW CAN I HELP YOU TODAY? SAY I AM DISPUTING ALL OF THE MEMBERSHIP CHARGES! THEY HAVE TO REFUND EVERYTHING I USED TO WORK THERE TRUST ME I KNOW, AND THEY HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE SAY DISPUTE THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO GET ALL OF YOUR MONEY BACK TRY IT!
my bank statement shows a charge of $19.95 on April 30 by Intelius, a company with which I am not familiar and company from which I have never used or requested any services.
yep, if you give them your credit card number they will start charging you 19.95 month, I just wanted a one time search for someone's phone number and they could not even do that, and then they put me on their monthly charge of 19.95 for some crap.

On July 22 I ordered a reverse phone look up. Their e-mail conformation was for $4.99.
On July 26, they e-mailed me stating that they were unable to provide the requested info and were CANCELING the transaction.
On August 1, I checked my bank statements and find that they had billed me for $19.95. I printed out copies of all the transactions and took it to Wells Fargo. They canceled the debit card immediately to prevent further used then had VISA refund the charges.
To bad this didn't happen 150 years ago. Then we would just ride into town, get off our horse, go in and shoot the lousy shysters.
