Just Energy Group Signup bonus

Sighed up for service in feb 2011 promised a signup gift card;
Filled in paperwork the day after received first bill
Have made 8 phone call got 8 different answers, 5 emails, with no answer. Have calles customer service and ask to talk to a supervisor told [only come in once a day but would call me when they comi within 24 hours,
Still waiting over a month ago. Finally talked to a person i thought could help; on a tuesday she said she would check and call back by monday [3 weeks ago].

Wow, I am having trouble with them right now. I got a $392.77 bill last month for just me (I live in a small house, 3bdrm by myself cause my husband passed away). So it's just me and my puppies. I paid the bill. It was late but paid before the disconnect time. The check cleared the bank and the next day they turned off my service and it's really cold here in TX right now. I went 24 hrs without electricity after paying my bill. Went to the bank and they talked and faxed over the proof to Just Energy. Now I'm being investigated. They scalded me for using a check. They were going to turn off my electric again on the 29th of January but I called back on the 28th and wasn't able to reach them until 6pm. They said they still don't have the money and then extended the investigation until the 5th of February. I don't even think they are looking and my bank proved I paid. And if I leave they are going to charge me that $300 breach of contract fee and I now another bill of $392.02. I just want to change cause I don't trust them with my money. That was an entire check that they lost. Yes, don't consider these people for your electricity. They came by my door too and offered the service. Claimed I have a contract thru 2017.

Rates increase--$310 termination fee even if you move---Liers
We used them in texas for 3 years. I moved to Ohio. When we signed the contract the person who came on the door said when you move the contact terminates and there is no termination fee. When we moved and sold our house and cancelled the service, they sent me a bill with $310 for contract cancellation fee. I called the CS and told them about the move, she asked me to send the doc proving the move and assured everything will be settled. I got call another day for the same reason, I explained the person on the phone, he said that you will get a final bill with $0 balance and gave me the confirmation #. Even afetr this they kept calling me everyday (automated calls ask you to press #1 and put u on hold for 3mins to talk to real person). These people were very rude and kept asking for $310 even if i explained that the account is settled. I don't know what to do as they are complete liers.
Don't ever even consider their service. They knock your door give you the best rate which is only good for 6months. Don't sign anything just by bilieveing the person who knocked on your door or on the phone.

After having Universal Gas & Electric for four years and then changing their name to Just Energy, I had had enough of my gas bill going up and up - the utility bill was at least $600.00 a month for the three coldest months in a row each winter, I knew I would have to pay the early termination fee, but I felt I would save myself some money in the long run...

Just Energy Group Making it hard to cancell

I foolishly agreed to sign up for Just Energy through a salesman who showed up at my door after dark. He said I had 3 days to cancel without penalty, of which I immediately knew I wanted to do after signing up. My contract had a tear off portion on the back for canceling, it said the only way to cancel was to sign and mail in that form within three days. So I mailed it the next morning. Today is the third day, and I was getting nervous about it, so I called the company and sure enough, they hadn't received my cancellation. The woman was polite and agreed to cancel my account, saying it was going into effect now. Now, I'll be crossing my fingers and hoping it actually is canceled. MAKE SURE YOU CALL TO CANCEL, DON'T MAIL ANYTHING.

Same thing happened to me Cheyanne124. I called that very same night after the sales guy left and told them to cancel it. They said they would make a note and cancel it. Tell me why they switched my service the very next day. Now I have to go through the hassle of getting it switched back to my old provider. If I get charged for anything on their fault for not doing their job properly I will be taking them to court.

Just energy came to my door also after dark, made a very dramatic pitch based on discounts afforded our disabled son. These discounts as represented by just energy sales do not exist. I agree with the complaint. Just energy is grossly missrepresented by it's agents

I'd hardly call that complaint worthy. You didn't even TRY the program to see if it was right for you. You just gave up before even testing it out. Shame.

Just Energy Group Hydro

This company will harrass & lie to you. I am at the end of my contract. [Thank God] My bills for six years have been double what my neighbers pay for the same amount of hydro used. They have been calling me and coming to my door. I have politely told them I am not interested and to go away. I have called the Ontario Energy Board to complain. They told me to fax, e-mail, phone & send a registerd letter telling Just Energy I am not renewing my contact with them. I hope it works.

Just Energy Group Extending contract without permission

This company had a signed commitment in 1998 from my ex wife. Since that time they have continued to charge us for their products even though I never re-signed. When I called them they said its an automatic renewal if you don't contact them. How can they do this ? Is there a law suit against them on this? On a union gas bill the charge is about 20 cents a cubic metre - they are charging 33 cents. When I questioned them on it Mal - who works there - offered a 18 cent lock in for one year. The contract clearly says its a 5 year program signed by my ex in 1998 who has moved out and is NOT an owner many years ago. As for renewal I never signed anything with them - they just renewed it when I didn't respond to their junk mail. Can anything be done about this?

Hey, This is a scam. They are after your money. Locking you into a over priced, 5 year contract, that is binding. Some people lost over $1000, trying to get out of their contract. No savings here. I had a sales rep. trying to sell me this, or was he there to save me money? My bells and whistles went up when all he wanted was my utility bill to compare prices? He wanted my account number so bad he was drolling. He told me I would be saving lots and lots of money. How I asked? He said Just Energy is a wholeseller, but they don't have gas, they are not an energy company. Hummm, I asked how can you be a wholeseller company without gas? He told me after I sign up I would get to read the contract? Anyone rememmber Enron scandel? Scott Gahn cheif opperating officer from Enron is CEO of Just Energy. I have found out no matter what any one ever promises, adding a third party always cost more money. Anyway I had a lot of fun playing with this guy.

Just Energy

Hiding behind Union Gas energy bills trying to get me to pay a ridiculous cancellation fee after 6 years, a BS story about some phone call renewall from my number. I just hope people can avoid this garbage business practice from these dooor to door frauds overcharging and hidden costs.

If you didn't sign for it discuss with a lawyer and do legal action.
That costs me about 1000 to 1500 dollar, but it worth it for the rest of theterm.
Deal the legal cost with your lawyer.

Or this is another way I heard that you just tell them you are moving to another place.
Good luck.
This kind of company has to be punished by government. and return the money that they cheat from innocent people!

Just Energy Group Breach of contract

This company is a scam if I ever saw one. We had a high pressure fear mongering sales person come to our door 4 years ago and pressured my wife into signing a 5 year contract. The company has never confirmed the contract meaning it should not be in effect 40 days past the high pressure sales event. They activated it anyway and i've been paying 25% more for electricity for the past 4 years than without this scam. I have called multiple times to get this cleaned up and they keep insisting on charging me an exit fee. Essessially they are screwing people out of money by charging a premium on the current rates and scaring people into thinking they will pay more later if they stayed with the local company. It is a scam. Do not sign with this company.

Just Energy Group Not disclosing all information on contract or bill

For starters they do not disclosing all the information on bill. My wife signed a 5 year agreement which cannot be terminated, but during my conversation on the phone with an agent, she told me that i would have to move out of province to terminate my contract. When i mentioned to that agent that i am newly divorced and may need to sell my house and move, well she said that my contract would be reinstated at my new address. I just don't understand why i have to continue a contract that i was not explained all the proper information from the get go. Now all of a sudden there is new rules . There explanation of the extra charge is that they have purchased last year an approximated amount of hydro for me and that if i go over my yearly usage ewhich was never disclosed, then i have to pay a penalty for the amount that i use as extra, and if i use less then they credit me. Ho ya like that will happen. They will always make sure that there approximation is less that what you actually use. I have never seen a credited charge on my bill. If they miss calculate this yearly amount then to bad for you man. At the time during my phone conversation with the agent my question to her was " I am lock in a set price for five year and what happen if the rate goes down " She agreed that the 7.99 kW/h rate does not have any limitation to how much i use and that i can basically renew after one year at a lower rate if the price came down and this creates a new 5 year contract at that time. What a scheme. What a rip off. That was not the deal. On top of that there is monthly administration fees. Which was never mentioned. I bet you that when the five years is up if you don't call to cancel they might just renew without any problem with out you concernt.

Boy I would definitely like to be part of a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT as i am sure i am not the only one in this mess.

We signed a just energy contract 5 years ago. We were conned. The rate we were paying at the end of the contract was almost 50¢/kwh. We were assured we were going to save money but as it turns out we lost over $4, 000. I don't have the energy (no pun intended) to go over all the bills to see how they increased it so much over the years. They should be shut down, there are enough BBB complaints against them it's a shame that the powers that be keep turning a blind eye.

Just Energy uses old time con artist tactics. They will always arrive at your door, at night, and will try and pressure you to renew your contract. The salesman- con artist is trained to not take no for an answer. I asked for a written explanation on what he was selling, no such literature is available, they said they had already sent it. Surprisingly he didn't have a copy that was sent me or anyone else, a little odd I think. He than goes in a circle conversation, basically trying to confuse me totally. What he didn't tell me is that Just Energy does not post their pricing on the government website like the rest of their competitors. The reason they don't post their rates is that they are higher. The lesson I learned is do not sign anything from a clown at your door trying to pressure you to sign something that is going to cost you hundreds to thousands of dollars more over your five year term.

Just Energy Group Billing

I signed up with Just Energy thinking that I would save some cash. Their pitch is very misleading. My bill went higher and higher every month. They told me that they increased it to offset the yearly cost but yet when I left their company they were still able to ding me the difference of the yearly cost. My bill for half a month was $872.95! Why are these people allowed to be in business? Do they even have any happy customers? I would like to hear from a happy customer. All I've been reading the negative about the company. Is there anything good to say about them? I say not! They sure know how to rip the average joe off! The best advice I could give is to NOT sign with them. BUYER BEWARE THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF BIG TIME AND YOU WILL NOT SAVE ANY MONEY!

We are selling our house and called just energy to find out if there are any charges. They are asking 400 each services we have with them (gas and heat). This is just so expensive. I agree with some of the comments here that they have aggressive people working for the company and demanding to see your billing statements. I will never sign up with them again when we move to our new place. I wished I would have searched more about the company before signing up with them. Another tip: do not sign up for contracts, you are not really saving money as they say and their billings are not accurate as it seem to show on their statement they are just estimates!

I cancelled my account in October of 2013 when I sold my house two weeks ago i received a phone call from a so called collection agency threatening to put me into collection if I didn't pay $177 right away. When I asked for a reference number they just became verbally abusive with me. So I called Just Energy several times every time I got the run around, I was given a number to call so I did the message said leave name number and relative information and they would get back to me within four hours well it's been two weeks, if I owe this money I will gladly pay but I need some sort of confirmation on this, any decent company would give a person a chance to clear this up . My phone number has not changed in over five years so your attempts to contact me have been at best very poor. My name is Ron Scott your records should show you my number do the right thing lets clear this up if there is anything to clear up.

I am posting this to alert anyone considering subscribing to just energy. Listen to this before you dump your current utilities provider.
I switched over to just energy for electricity and gas because a family member was a commission agent with them. I just wanted to try them, now I can say I made a huge error.

For months there were no bills yet my account was sent for collection with a large sum to pay. I made an arrangement to clear that bill and finally when I sold the house they continued to charge me even when the new owner has another provider. I called customer relations, who agreed to close the account and reduce the bill. The next thing I hear now is the harassment from their collector.

My advise is check well before dumping your utilities provider. You might be better off after all. I never had this problem with any other company.

yea im in the same boat, they dont send bills then they get collections to call everymonth!I cancelled my contract and now they want 700dollars, why isent anything done about this?Its probley because the govt is in on it with all these companies

I encountered a very pushy salesman from 'Just Energy' at my door this afternoon who clearly did not understand I wasn't interested and wouldn't take no for an answer. I was in a robe, enjoying my day off with the front door open. Big mistake! He kept demanding to see my utility bills, even after I told him all my billing comes to my email. He told me to print them then and he'd wait so he could 'show me what was wrong with it' (a: I don't have a printer, b: that defeats the purpose of PAPERLESS BILLING, and c: my bills are my own confidential material)

Needless to say, I was not comfortable with his condescending attitude and pushy tactics. My roommate stepped in and told him to just go away. Watch out for people trying to bully you into something they are very vague about explaining.

I love how as soon as I slammed the door and Googled Just Energy, most of the first page of results were complaints

When I signed up wtih Alberta Energy, the salesman said a senior could discontinue the service without penalty. Not so. I now have a bill for over $200 which they keep writing and phoning me about. When they switched to Energy Star they made a complete mess up of the billing. I always paid through my bank and the overcharges and credits floating around were unbelievable. Seeing such inefficiency, I lost patience and went directly with Enmax and Direct Energy. I was also told I was paying more through Alberta Energy.

I'm on a government pension so every penny counts. But it looks as if their penalty will take care of any gains I make by paying a cheaper rate through the other suppliers. It's a case of buyer beware.

Just Energy Group Scam

Salesman walks in (if you do your research you will find out the pitch, it's word for word) and says he is here to see if we qualify for a discount. We almost fall for it because we couldn't find anything negative on the company Just Energy except for 550 BBB complaints (his rebuttal was that it's out of 3 million - ok that's fair enough I said and moved on because if that's really the case, fine...), I pulled up a news report on a company US Energy and he heard it play in the office, immediately he responded that it was their competitors, as the title read Just Energy but the news report was on a company US Energy it didn't click right away that he was lying to my face about their name change, it took a couple of extra minutes of research after he left (because I asked him to leave the contract with us in order to do more research - reason for that is because after I played the report, a lot of red flags went on in my head because he tried to engage in a conversation with me about 6-7 times while I was trying to ignore him, and was really trying hard to get my attention off of the computer when he wasn't even talking to me at the beginning). To be polite, I asked him to comeback the following day to sign the contract. Needless to say that HE DIDN'T... Why? I think I understood that when I read all of the scams they pulled on everyone else (they do not guarantee savings, they guarantee a locked price, basically playing a gamble on the gas prices, while in actuality their company wins because the rates (if you calculate) are 6-7 times more than what you currently pay, so when you call back to cancel, you can't get a hold of anyone ever, and they charge you a cancellation fee, so if you have a bill for your first month on one hand (which is after the 30 day cancellation period) of 400-750 dollars and a cancellation fee on the other, they win on both sides... I believe I know now why he didn't come back or even called. And I can't believe he lied right to my face and said it's their competitor as he was waiting for a signature, and I later found out that US Energy changed their name to Just Energy. This is not a company you do business with.
I hope this helps someone, because I couldn't even relay how close we were to signing the contract and getting ripped off by someone wearing an aloha shirt and flip flops... I have a copy of the agreement but didn't have time to scan it in, sorry guys...

Listen, I live here in houston, Texas, and I've read many of the post here. Thanks so much for the heads Up! It's funny, because I went to a so called "interview" with them for a job. Because I had already research this company and read so many of the post, on this website and and consumerripoff website as well. I had already known that this was not going to be a company I would want to work with, especially when I pull up for the interview. The building was the first red flag, it look almost deserted and dark. I was dress in a suite, heels, and brief case, when I walk into the building, I immediately started taking notes, to post here. There was hardly anyone doing business here, except for a trade school that was located in the building. Once I made it to the door, I stop and look around for bugs, at this point, I felt I was arriving at slum lords apartment building door, it was made of then wood, which was peeling, and no name on the door. But a little to my left on the wall in small letters read "just energy" I open the door and immediately notice a young hispanic girl with an earring in her nose, black lipstick, and fingernails, (I guess to match the black dress). As I look around, I also listen for ques, that would tell me about these people. But I'll get to that in a bit. The floor was very dirty, and the "office" look more like a small college dorm, after the students moved out. A couple of chairs, a desk, and I think I seen a plants in the corner. I notice their application was a joke, I told the young lady I was there for an interview, although I was thirty minutes early. I notice several gentlemen, that really look as if they had a bad life and they were trying to be businessmen. They told the secretary to put those contracts in his office and lock the door, as I watch him, he never loook up at me, nor did he look at her, I notice a room full of chairs, she said I could go in there to fill out the application, so I did. It was set up like a old high school presentation. Then on the walls were apparently sales rep who made their commissions. It felt more like a collection company, which I have work in before, and I didn't stay long their, or here. I put the application in my purse, and walk out of the room and ask the young lady what is this room used for, she said it is a presenation, then your interview comes afterwards, I said thankyou, but I would not be interested in anything like this, and walk out. Those of you that did sign with them, I'm sorry, please contact your AG's Office, and your Public Ulitity Commission. Once you know this information, do you really believe this is a legitimate company? Their website boast about being a 1.7 billion dollar company, you would think they could afford a lease in a much better building, with other billion dollar companies, new carpet or tile floors, painted walls, etc. COME ON... and most, not all but MOST companies will not allow their receptionist or secretary to wear their gothic attire. Oh, and I am by no means judging or being funny, this is serious business, the manager of team leader, whoever he was, that never look up, was dress alot like Mr. Ferly on Three's Company, remember that show? Plated shirt, real tight nylon pants, and white shoes. No, I'm not kidding

Just Energy Group False charges for cancellations

I was charged seven hundred some dollars as a concellation fee for a service that should have been cancel already. I was told they had no record of me cancel the service but I had several people to show up at my house in the pass to resign up which I told them I didn't want the service any more. I feel the fee is way to high just to cancel service that should been cancel already. This has call me to be stress out and angry

jUST ENEREY SCAM - same here, my parents cancelled their services with them after they started getting bills for $400.00 a month for each energy and power. They were told when they came to the door that they were taking over their current provider as they were going out of business. FALSE... it was all a lie. Now they want over $1300.00 for cancellation fee's and the bit they continued to charge, even after they had cancelled. What is going on and why isn't the police doing anything about this? Just really frustrated how they have the nerve to scam people and not flinch an eye! SHAME ON ALL OF YOU WHO RUN AND WORK FOR THIS COMPANY.

I am being charged EXIT fees for their service that I cancelled back when I was told I wouldn't be charged. But they only cancelled one account, and had the wrong information on my second account, so continued to bill me. I was being double billed. Finally, after months of phone calls and conversations, Just Energy was pointed out and admitted they were at fault and would cancel my second account, however now since months have past, there will be an EXIT fee! I have made numerous calls telling them I will not pay as both services were requested to be cancelled months ago, but they didn't get it right. They are telling me that they have recorded phone calls and notes on file stating that I requested to have them back as my service provider. I NEVER DID! They are referring my account to Collections. Very frustrationg people to deal with at this company.

Guess what! alberta energy savings plan lp is not doing business in alberta anymore, but their new company just energy is! I checked the websites and the addresses are exactly the same in ontario.

Had a couple of their "professional" sales staff (read university students on commission) pay a visit to my house in fort mcmurray last week, same old bull* sales line> when I told them that I was already getting ripped off and didn't need to be gouged any further, they asked why most of the people they spoke with that night were so hostile. I told them the whole story about alberta energy savings plan lp. I laid it out to them almost word for word the script they were going to follow to try to see my current bills. I told them the scam of long term energy plans was old news and that most people have been warned against this practice.

I will keep at it, and keep calling on the government to get their heads out of the sand and see how badly the people of alberta are getting ripped off.

Let me guess you must work for them because if you have them as a contract utility supplier you are being ripped off for almost 3 times the going rate! I know because I got tricked into a contract with them!

I can't believe the harassing phone calls I get from this company. I am self employed in a small business and do not need un-necessary interruptions. I pay my bills in a timely manner when I AM READT TO PAY THEM. Just Energy does not get that. I have contacted them every way I can, and asked them to please stop these harassing calls. The calls kept coming, making me angry. Their point is you will pay by when they say, they are boss, you are under contract. They kept harassing, till finally I went on their Facebook page and let them have it. Then, the two calls per day to my business, went to three calls per day. I am an anti-Feminist and this company is owned by a Feminist (read her story how she cheated her husband to get where she is) and run like a ###. I have NO USE for these ###s. I hate them. DO NOT EVER SEND YOUR SALES PEOPLE HERE EVER AGAIN, as they will be physically ESCORTED OFF THE PROPERTY! I am now in the process of blocking their phone number, see if that works.

I lived in on apartment of a 4 plex when I signed up with Alberta savings. I never got my service cause it wasn't suppose to start for 3 months meaning I didn't have to pay until the 4th month. In the first month I recieved a bill for 750.00. They had charged me for 3 mths for all 4 apartments. When I complained they said they were checking into it. Then the next month I received a bill for 3000.00. I fought it...7 yrs ago. It never went to collections. Until now. They have some bogus collections calling to harass my husband. It my name that was on the bill. Janice ( the collection agent) swore at me once and hung up on me twice. I did not know they were just energy until she told me lol. I just reswitched back to direct energy.

Yes, they are scamming me too, and harassing me by telephone. For a whole year, they say they couldn't get a hold of me even though I've had the same phone number and lived at the same address since 1985. If that doesn't point to a try on I don't want does.

they are scammers 5 years ago a guy shows up at my door askes what untity company am with and, trys to get me to sign up i say no, he leaves swearing at me and calling me stupid. aweek later another guy comes back says hes with the company am with and i need to renew my contract after signing i didnt relize i had signed with aeslp untill it was to late, i had a death in the family so was depressed and upset at the time of signing this contract.

yes this is true aselp lead me to believe they sold my contract to another company just energy, then send me a letter from just energy . i agreed to a contract with just energy then found on from internet they had just changed they name when i phoned them back to cancel my contract the same day they dened this untill i told them its on the internet

I had a fellow twice show up to my door (Edmonton) and demanded to see my gas and power bills. I politely told him I wasn't interested, and he wouldn't let go of my door. Not only was he pushy..., he wouldn't take NO for an answer. Yesterday afternoon, low and behold, he showed up again. I told him to get lost, get off my porch, or I was going to let my dogs out. He then walked across my freshly seeded lawn to go to my neighbors. I was PISSED! I went outside, and asked him if he was blind, that he couldn't see that the lawn was freshly seeded. Told him to get off my neighbors step, and use the God Damned sidewalk or driveway. I hope this ignorant piece of work NEVER shows at my door again!

It is a rip off! We got talked into signing a contract with them and my bill was twice as much as I have ever received! Just about choked when I opened the statement...when I called the excuse was that it was 2 months of use because of when the meter readings were done! Once I can gather enough money to end my contract I'm going back to my old provider! If they show up, DO NOT SIGN with them!

No need to be so PMS-y about it, Queen[censored]. They're just people who are trying to make a living. I highly doubt you'd like doors to be slammed in your fat face.

As for the actual complaint... Just Energy has been renamed from Alberta Energy Savings Plan BECAUSE they have expanded to most regions of Canada, and quite a few of the states. This year, they supplied the Superbowl with green energy, and many other stadiums and businesses in the states. Just because you've had minor issues with them does not instantly mean they are "scamming" you.

My, it sounds like you are the one that is all PMS-y... and quite likely knocked up... Believe me, I have researched this company inside, out.. And I am trying to help unsuspecting people make an informed decision before they sign a contract with them. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and can do their own research. This site is here for a purpose and that is to write your opinion.
So, why don't you just go back to doing whatever it was you were doing and keep your rude and ignorant comments to yourself.

Just because you're all PMS-y and rude customers is no reason to lead false accusations. Any company has it's "sketchy" moments, but you all seem to trust them. Little do you know, every company you deal with has the power to take your credit/debit information with a simple sniffer program and steal ALL your money. It happened to me at friggin' WINNERS, for Christ's sake! So yes, you've had communications problems with Just Energy, but that's just as much your fault as it is theirs. If you were at the least bit suspicious of the company, you say no. It's that simple. Or if you're not entirely sure, go and research the company from RESPECTED and NON-BIASED reviewers. Never trust the review of a disgruntled customer, because they will exaggerate the so called "problem", and never touch on the GOOD aspects of the company. And YES, they are PUSHY. But, don't be rude. Just close the door, and forget they even showed up. It's not their fault, it's their job. If they don't sell, they don't make money. And if they went out of business, there would be an amazing skyrocket in the homeless population. So, shut up, and go get pregnant or something to preoccupy your time, you nasty complainers.

I am in Texas. We had a Just Energy independent rep come to our door Wednesday. I wasn't home so they talked to my husband. He ended up signing a four year contract. When he told me, I googled Just Energy and saw a lot of negative feedback so I just cancelled today (within the 3 days allowed by law). I was on my way home from work that same day and saw one of the reps in the street. I stopped and asked him if he was the one that signed up my address. He said no, but it was one of his employees. I told him I had questions about the contract and I wanted someone to come to my house that evening before they left the area to sit down with ME and go over the contract my husband signed. He said someone would be by in 30 minutes. Of course that didn't happen and haven't heard a word from them since. They knew I would probably ask for the signed contract back and they wouldn't get their cut. That speaks a lot right there.

All I did was call their 800 number and cancelled over the phone. But, I am also going to be scanning and emailing my cancellation form on the back of the contract and mailing it just to make sure I cover my [censor]. They were very nice over the phone and didn't give me a hard time about cancelling. They might be an okay company to do business with but I am not taking the chance.

I think 4-5 years is too long for a contract anyway. When I called them, they did offer to change the terms to something shorter - 2 years. I still said no.

JustEnergy reps came to our door step too but right from the start we felt suspicious about it. the free gift card for 50 bucks made it even so. Then he started with explaining how much we would be saving by signing. Long story short ive signed the papers. As soon as they left we typed justenergy into google and right away it popped up as justenergy scam. Luckily only 5 min passed by so we went after their repesentitive with my doberman and took the papers back from him. Once i had the papers he kept trying to reach for it and i would just put them behing my back.
I hope thats enough for this contract to have an early cancelation :)

Good for you! Now please ask them to verify your conversation in writing and give you a cancellation #. Or did you already do that?
When they have given you that info, then send them another e-mail and tell them that you expect to see a credit for the difference that it cost you from month to month for switching to Just Energy.
I don't know if they will do it or not but it's worth the effort!
Good luck, these people are so pushy and that is what they do, they prey on people and push them. In the end you are doubting your own decisions which makes you give in to them! Mind games! Which is why we should push back and you have just proven that it works!

Good news for me! I sent an email to the customer service department yesterday, threatening that I'd report them to BBB because their salesperson was very misleading, promising me my bill would be much lower, I'd get a tax refund back, did not tell me until after I signed the contract that I'd have to pay $100 if I cancelled b4 the 5 years was up and that he would not take no for an answer.I also gave the guys name and contract #. Well I received an email back today that my contract would be cancelled, I would not have to pay the $100. It'll take about a month to come into effect but I am happy with the results. Let's just hope I have no further problems with them.

Please let us know how this goes. I regrettably signed a contract with them In December. The salesman would not take no for an answer. Each time I said no, he'd tell me something that made it sound like it was a big mistake if I did not sign up with them. He told me, I'd get a refund with my income tax which I found out to be totally untrue. He did not tell me about the $100 charge if I cancelled. I was told my bill would be low. Well! I received my first bill from them a week or so ago and it is more than I've ever paid before plus there are charges on there, i know not what for. For instance..Provincial Benefit, this was never mentioned...R.P.P. settlement, what's this? I'm on disability, I can't afford to pay $100 to cancel. I now wish I'd never answered the door!

Just Energy Group Clueless idiots submitted my account to collection agency because they can't seem to change my address

I tried to change my phone number and address with these bone heads, and they didn't get it back in June. Then in July I tried again. In September, I got a letter from a COLLECTION agency saying we owed $493.00 for breaking the contract. We hadn't broken the contract, we'd transferred it! So I call them again, and spend 3 hours on the phone (collectively, over three separate phone calls in one day) trying to get this sorted out. In the span of that 3 hours, I gave my new address and phone number more than SIXTEEN TIMES! These idiots never changed it! I finally ended the call with the manager, who promised the whole thing would be resolved. Guess what - a FINAL NOTICE from the collection agency now, November 16th! These ###s are ruining my credit because their agents are CLUELESS and can't even manage an address change! I think this is a scam, because he had quoted me the rates that the energy companies are currently charging (6.5 and 5.7) and that means they won't make a profit! They're trying to get out of it and still make a profit off me! What's my recourse? STAY AWAY from these people! Gee, I wonder why they changed their name from Ontario Energy Savings? Can you say 'scam'?

Hello Folks, This is my 5th year with JUST ENERGY as my RETAIL ELECTRIC PROVIDER. I have never paid more for electric service in my life! What starts out as 8.3 cents a KWH turns out to be [protected] cents a kwh ! Half a dozen odd-ball surcharges, taxes, fees balancing adjustments, & $8.95 monthly recurring charges all bundled up in a "new" "improved" electric bill. Now with my "good old " electric provider I got a little slow pay now &; again ... I'd just pay it next billing cycle... no problem! After all it;s" just energy" right? Well my new electric provider with a 5 year contract (penalty for early termination) charges Late Fees and disconnects at 40 days past due. Disconnect ; reconnect service fees aside - what does a late fee buy me? The luxury of being late? You got a 5 year contract &; it's "Just Energy" right? I'm hitched up to this old nag that left me in the dark a number of times ; straining to dial the "new" automated call system - that times out; in a curt &; flippant "good bye" after my best efforts to enter &; re-enter, press 1 if correct followed by the # sign... then your billing zip code followed by the # sign, then 1 if correct... so any hesitation or mis-dial results in the dial tone ... signaling another failed attempt ... and I curse the darkness. You see, my eyesight ain't what * it used to be and well - I can't quite read & type on a SWB touchtone phone to get thru to a real person. So I guess it's me I'm complaining about... My electric service was a breeze before it was "Just Energy" I will not renew NOR recommend any connection to these pompass * biggots.

we tried just energy and we fell for their promises. after the first 3 bills being over 40% higher than what we normally paid before switching. We called to cancel the account with in the time we had to evaluate which the sales rep who knocked on our door was 6 months and showed us and circled where it said on the contract we had six months to cancel after that if we did we where subject to a penalty and it also stated if we paid more we would get a check for $500 as part of their guarantee that we would not pay more than the going rate for electricity.

When we called the cancel they would not let us and said that they would not pay the guarantee fee they promised if we paid more for our bill than the normal going rate. After several attempts that day to get them to cancel we contacted our local electric company and they canceled it for us. with out any issue but the next day just energy calls us and says we now owe them 439 dollars plus on top of that another 250 dollars for canceling during the evaluation period. We refused to pay it as we canceled with in the time we where told and shown on the contract we received when we could cancel with out penalty. Then comes our next light bill with those two fees from Just Energy on them. We brought the contract in to our local electric company office and showed the the contract we where left which the rep their said is different than what they filed with them but dropped the fees as they say it was the signed hard copy the rep left with us.

Since then just Energy has put the fees in collection and no matter what we do the agencies will not drop it. So we are now stuck waiting it out for 7 years well 6 now till it can no longer be collected on to be able to have it removed from our credit record but at the same time it has drastically hurt our credit rating after we spent several years repairing it after my husband spent 8 months one year hospitalized and we fell behind from all the hospital bills.

And to those who have had no problem which as it can be seen is a very small percentage not every one is trying to not pay bills but i don't blame any one who don't want to pay their bill after Just Energy takes over since they all probably suffered like us and watched their bills go up instead of down as they claim if you switched to them would happen.

Just Energy is the biggest rip-off company out there. Stay away and save yourself the hassle. I switched over to Just Energy and was told I had 3 days to make a decision and could opt out within those three days. My contract was supposed to end in two week with my current provider. I asked Just Energy to make the switch at the end of my contract but they made the switch on the same day I called. I called them in 3 days to cancel my contract. I waited for one hour to get a representative. She said she would submit the request. Called back the following day I was told it will take up to 72 hours. I called back a week later and nothing had been done. I waited 80 minutes to get a rep and that's when I spoke to a supervisor who claimed that there was nothing he could do and I just needed to wait for the process to take place. I threaten to legal actions for misinformation and for switching over before the due date. He was able to get the process going. Disgusting! They need to shut down. I will report them to the BBB and more. Stay away!

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE company! Poor customer service, ...no communication between departments, ...no records of receiving my payments, ...hours on hold, ...being passed around from one person to the next, ...all to do it again next month when they call asking for money that I ALREADY PAID THEM! During one phone conversation, as I was getting a bit frustrated, ...I literally had a customer service agent laugh at me over the phone and claimed to be coughing but continued, even after I told him that that was unprofessional. Oh and did I mention that they will send you incorrect bills in a month and then surprise you with the real total a month or two later. It happened to us 2 in the first year signed with them! Ya, ...try getting an unexpected $900 bill at Christmas time! When I get a bill in the mail, ...I pay it, ...if you don't send the right amount, ...sorry, ...not my mistake! When ever someone comes to your door claiming to save you money or offer you security, ...don't be fooled! They go door to door to make money and there is no security in outrageous bills showing up at your door!

These bas$#ds walked into Grand Rapids Michigan and falsely tried to get my authorizaatrion. They did not disclose the full information on the contract and tried to get signature from me. I had to comeback to my laptop to check and threaten the sales guy to give me back the paper work or call the cops. I succeeded and I am glad i am out of this scam

Here we ago again, learn to spell " Job" not " Jib". You are correct! Everyone deserves a second chance that has payed for their crime. Criminals that are inclinded to steal identity or rapist, child molsters etc should be screened by this company before sending them door to door to push their service. Unloading a van of these people in a residential family neighborhood is a bad idea. Just Energy could care less as long as a sale is involved. I guess that's why they are 1099 contract labor. This way they don't have to be responsible for who they hire and send to a persons door. In most states and cities you need a solicitation permit to canvass door to door. When applying for such a permit a background check is done. Just Energy is not applying for these permits for it's contractors. The loop hole is their not responsible for individual contractors that have not sought a license. Winning! Great opportunity for recently released murders... Don't be suprised when the pic below looks familiar, when asked about your energy bill from an ex con...Remember you invited them in your home representing " JUST ENERGY"..

The company lies to individuals seeking employment. The ad in the Cols Dispatch is misleading. They are advertising for customer service reps. It's an outside cold call, door to door, commission only sales job. They pay $50 dollars per sale, for a high pressure 5 year commitment from a unsuspecting resident. There shabby Cols Oh office looks like something you rent by the week off cleveland Ave. Weekly they request a cattle call of unpolished would be street thugs to market their service. Everyone is hired! No background check, drug testing or previous experience needed. Jack the ripper could be in your neighborhood courtesy of " JUST ENERGY". If you show to the seminar then your hired! This is a great opportunity for EX CONS, FELONS, and bottom dwellers. The " MO" is to load up a van full of individuals and let them loose to knock every door in the neighborhood for a profit. Beware of this company and it's identity theft scammmers asking for your most recent ENERGY bill. Just a concerned fellow American..

This is for you "HERE WE GO AGAIN" I use to work for the company and our job was to scam people out there money. When I went to orientation they told me to go after the old people because they never read the contract and that they are too slow to find out what is going on in time. I really regret working for the company but at the time I was in desperate need of money. I am sorry to all who go through it. But they purposely ignore complaints because they end up losing customers which in the end makes the lose money. I know the tricks that they use and I wish I never have contribuited to that.

After I moved to new place, I received a call from JE, to confirm my new address and that I was not responsible for electricity charges. After I said so, he told me that your account is closed and you do not owe us anything, and have a good day. Come April 18, and I get a call from BSC saying that they are calling on behalf of JE and that I owe 113 CAD cancellation fee. I told him that fee was taken care by JE. He basically convinced me to pay the bill. So I called JE, and told them what happened and she said that was taken care of and you should not be getting the calls. Today, almost 2 months later, I got call from BSC saying that I still owed them 113 and that the best way to deal with the situation is to "pay it off ". So I called JE and told them the story, the same lady said that it was taken care of on April 18th itself. "That fee is waived and the collections file is closed at our end. You should not be receiving those calls." I called BSC again and they said that "The file is open on our end and it is JE's responsibility to close it. And that is the reason why our agent is calling you (and potentially ruining your credit.)".

It is all messed up. A cat and mouse game. They are ruining my credit too.

Just Energy refuses to stop calling me. My energy contract is up in December and they call me daily--typically multiple times despite being assured by their staff that I have been removed from their call list. I have recordings of the calls.

Paid Just Energy $287 to get out of a contract because bill was being inflated, granted it was the rest of the bill at the end of billing cycle, and $150 early cancellation fee, back in 2017 Never heard anything from them until yesterday, when my Credit Report was hit with a -3 points because new account in collections, Stating the same $150 i paid and have the email and the receipt of payment with no further actions, and early termination fee attached to the bill. How the hell does it go to collections 3 yrs later, and on the collection attempt stated i started the account Feb 2019 SMH, Iditots and Scammers but they let Commerce Energy report it, as if i owed then Dummy y'all change y'all name while i was a customer and i became a just energy customer because of you guy's name change never not paid a bill

I signed up with you over a year ago but when I got behind on my bill, you dropped me. Now you say I owe you money, but I don't. I've caught up with my bill and I never received a bill from you. Just the cancellation notice. U don't owe you a cent and you need to cease and desist these actions.

JUST ENERGY has informed my service provider to switch my gas supplier to JUST ENERGY without my consent. I had no communication of any form with them. THIS IS FRAUD!

On June 28th my door being knocked by a salesman that claiming he's affiliated to my energy and gas provider company to requested see my bills and make sure I am enroll at a save energy plan, I was stupid enough to shown my bills. I knew somethings wrong when he wrote down my information without explaining and gave me a special offer card SLAMMING
