Natural gas
They make it sound like they work lower income neighborhood because the are getting grants to bring cheaper energy to depressed areas when in fact they are more expensive. Last bill Consumers was At $3 per unit, Just Energy was $7. I called and complained and they said they would lower/lock the rate to $4.32. The bill I got yesterday now says $9.2. WTF!
Service
Don't use Just Energy! I have been a customer of Just Energy for approx. 2 years. They still can't get our 2 accounts figured out. Electricity was turned off today but both accounts were paid over 10 days ago. Money went to wrong account. All they had to do is transfer each and they would see a zero balance. They can't do this. They can only see 1 invoice at a time. What a mess! Now I have to pay an extra $70++ to get service. Don't know why? Supposed to be $25 for reconnect. I asked if I had a credit coming and they said no. If you're 24 hours late, you start getting phone calls and then a pink letter of no service. I'm on a fixed income and always pay but it may be up to 5 days late. I always pay the amount for the late fee(added to original bill). They say I only get 1 invoice so I have to get other bill on line most of the time(They can sure disconnect 2 though). This problem is only for THIS month! Each month we have another one. Can you believe I have 3 more years on this contract! I had Reliant for over 20 years and never had 1 problem. Guess you can figure out which electricity company I will be switching to.
Billing
When wife signed up for service we told them we wanted to do averaging of the bill...That was 6 months ago!!! I got with them today and they told me it would be another 1 to 2 billing cycles for it to be completed and done...This is what they told my wife every time she called... Looks like they have been trained this way to up the income averaging amount...

beware of the scheme the agents of just energy company they came to your door asking for your bill and they tell you your bill is high the lower your bill and they do not explain they are not from different utility provider please do not give them your bill.
Worst job ever
Started working for Just Energy about a month ago and was very intrigued about the job and the success they said would match. I did my training every morning at 9 in the morning and we wouldn't get out on the field to around 1 o'clock. I made 3 deals and only got paid $13 for them. Overall, the job is not beneficial, in the field it's very unprofessional and you don't get paid for the work you do. Least favorite job I've ever had and would not consider anyone to work for them.
Ripoff creates an agreement without your signature
We leased a flat in october 2014 and called duke-energy for a electric supply. Here comes the disaster call from JUSTenergy in october last week and our fate started to turn. They said if we subscribe with them, we would get stable rates for electricity where as other suppliers charge too much etc. The trick part is my wife DID NOT notice the difference between Dukenergy, Justenergy. She said ok to the person who called and thats it. Its DONE, No SIGNATURE, NO AGREEMENT shown. our november bill was 100$+ for 1000kwh approx, December bill was 250$ for 1600kwh and january 350$ for 2000kwh.
We asked this to Duke energy and they said we had a contract with just energy and it started from nov-dec bill, those are their rates. We were shocked. We called just energy and asked them to politely disconnect their supply so that we will shift back to Duke. We called JUSTenergy on january last week. Now its february again Justenergy charges got added in february bill and no one cares about our fate.
The worst part is they signed us for a Justgreen which is like a charity or something. They Rip you depending upon the usage. We dont know what it is and why/how the hell we got into contract just by a phone call.
This is our disaster story and hope you guys f--k their as--s if they ask you to signup.
Door to door scam
Had two men come to my door to complete the review of my energy charges to make sure that I was being billed properly. First line out of their mouths was " we aren't going to sell you anything". I fell for it, and let them review my energy bill. The guy then told me that I qualified for a special rebate, and needed only to fill out an application form. He assured me that I would be lowering my energy costs. I asked for more details, and he went on to say how I could lock in my energy costs for the next five years, and that my energy costs would not go up, no matter how much energy I used. I asked to check his ID, which should that he was a marketer. I asked if he was selling me anything, and he finally admitted that yes, he was from an energy contract company. He insisted though that this "too good to be true" offer, to lower my energy charges for five years, no matter how much energy I used, was actually going to happen. He talked about how other companies had scammed people, but his company was different. I said that I wanted to check them out before I made a decison; they said that everything would show that they are on the up and up.
These guys were lying to my face. They sounded convincing, and I know that they are able to fool and cheat many people. The myriad complaints on line show how despicable their company, and their behaviour really is. How do these guys sleep at night knowing that they are lying to people?

I called several times to get service for my new location spoke w/Don he was to fax to Fedex an order form, went there and did not get a response. I called back twice and got a recording thats is poor service. I also signed a contract with just energy which now Im sorry I did that.
First, I would like to state that Just Energy jeopardized by Identity by plastering my SS# along with my name on my bill which could be viewed by everyone that handled my mail. I was in shock my heart started pounding and I was angered by the breach of privacy on there part. I called PUC and filed a complaint with them next I called JE and complained to them. When I asked to speak to a manager "They Were Busy"...So my Second complaint is that when you call with a serious complaint such as this, as a customer of JE we should be able to speak to a Manager RIGHT away. Well, that did not happen I did not hear from them til two days later. I was credited $50 and they would not shut my electricity off even if I went past the disconnect due date.
If there were ever a class action lawsuit I would definitely support it...Is there one.
Fraud
Two just energy people were camped on our door steps. Normally, we won't answer the door unless we're expecting someone. These two just sat there for about 30 minutes during our dinner. Eventually, I went out to see what they wanted. They said we were the last ones on the block they haven't contacted so at first I thought it was something government or official. They gave this impression that everyone else signed up. They gave their spiel and wanted my energy bill which I thought was odd. They wanted me to sign the form which I did and then she had to call, but I really hate signing up for things without reviewing it carefully so I ripped up the contract (which I kept and put in the shredder) in front of them and told them to leave.
"...but I really hate signing up for things before reviewing..." So then why did you? You have no legitimate complaint here.
Fraud
They forged my name when they renewed my contract. When I caught them at it, they offered me a low price on gas and electric. I told them I didn't trust them, that I wanted it in writing. I got a letter showing the new gas price but not the electric, They have also come up with a charge of $115.00 from who knows where. I told them I would not pay this extra charge until I get that letter, as promised. So far, nothing but phone calls and past due letters. This has been going on for 3 1/2 months. Somebody please help me get them off my back.

Contract creation without signage
We had someone come to out door asking for my recent enmax statement and they have signed my boyfriend and I up with a contract I believe but we had no signature involved and this was done against our will so we are now somehow receiving calls which concern me that we now owe them payments for services we did not sign up for!

Failing to cancel contract as requested
After a phone conversation with Just Energy requesting cancellation of my contract, and also paying a pricey exit fee, I discovered they are still listed as my supplier on my National Fuel bill. They had told me it would be taken care of at the time, months ago, and that I could return to having National Fuel as my supplier. My daughter-in-law noticed I was being billed almost double than she was for a larger house with more gas-related useage on a daily basis. She noticed I was still being billed by Just Energy as my gas supplier. . I am sight-impaired by macular degeneration, so it was more difficult for me to see my bill, and I had talked to Just Energy myself on the phone, so I was rest-assured that the transfer of my gas supplier was taken care of. Many months later I had her check my bills for me. I had not receive a bill or statement showing the exit fee, I just sent it to them as per our phone conversation. There is no proof as a result. I will try cancelling again, but the complaints I see online are discouraging, indeed.

Over bill, fraud electric bill
My Name is Amarjit Dhillon.
Just energy rep came in person to my home in Feb 2013 and asked us to switch to Just Energy as electric supplier as apposed to my current supplier NStar. I was told multiple times that JustEnergy will always be lower or equal rate than current supplier. I ensured multiple times and I told then it is no brainer to not to switch to Justenergy as I always going to say money. I confirmed that with the rep.
I did not pay close attention to my bill and recently found out that Just energy was always charging lot higher rate than NStar. I called NSTar for some of my utilities question and I was informed by NStar that I am paying lot higher per kilo watt price than NStar is charging, I was paying 30% more.
But FirstEnergy told me that their prices will always be lower that NStar, this was the main reason I switched to JustEnergy.
I called JustEnergy and asked for explanation, and they told me that they do not know what their sales rep told me. They said that those are private contractors. They said that your contract never said that they will charge less or equal to your current suppler etc. My December electric bill came as $1270 for a single family home. What is this.
This is totally ripp off company and they ripped me alomost 1500 dollars, I told them to cancel my account and I want my bill to be fixed as I was explained when I switched. They refused to do that and they said that cancelation of account will take 1 to 2 billing cycles. 1 - 2 billing means that I will be paying higher rate for aleast 2 months more.
I search this company online and there are complaints everywhere. Please help. I want to fill law suite against this company,
Do not do business with this company Please.

Did anyone get a credit to their account?
I had a Just Energy rep come and do the same scam on me. My bill was consistently higher than the stated rate which was suppose to be a fixed rate for 2 years. When I spoke with the electric company office they showed that my rate was not fixed and that it was a 6 year contract with go green charges also supposely check marked by me.
Bullied and harassed
I was a customer with Just Energy. Every month I would receive daily recorded messages to pay my account when my account was always paid in full. I would phone Just Energy every month and make an inquiry as to these harassing phone calls, the customer service person would always say "that won't happen any more, we value you as a customer." Well this happened every month for a very long time. There seems to be some communication problem within this organization with accounts. One day I was at my limit of these harassing phone calls and made an inquiry about cancelling my contract and asked what the early exit fee would be. When I found out it was a large amount of money, I decided I would stay on. The next thing was a letter from Just Energy saying my contract was cancelled. I phoned them immediately and asked who cancelled my contract. The customer service rep. told me that I cancelled the contract. I told the rep. that I only inquired about the cancellation and did not cancel, I mentioned that they should go back and listen to the recorded conversation. The customer service rep said he would request them to look further into the matter. I never heard back from them except to get a large early exit fee bill. This company has very poor service and inconsistent customer service reps that gave different answers. I felt like I was bullied with harassing phone calls for an account that was always paid in full. If you are thinking about using this company for your energy needs, I would suggest you reconsider whether it is worth the harassment.
I completely agree! I receive a call (recorded message) every 2 days, within 10 days past my due date. Never mind the monthly letters of 'Past Due' always overstated by including my current billing - which I haven't even received a bill for yet! The calls come from the toll-free collections number for the first week then they actually block the calls! What kind of operation is this?! I've finally had it! This month I am waiting to pay the bill, while I document the calls / correspondence for the next 30 days. I am researching 'harassment' and my rights as I get it all documented! The stupid part is I am actually fine with the service but cannot tolerate the calls anymore!
I only want out of my contract to make the 'collections calls' stop & this is the way out!
Misleading door to door salesperson
On 10/04/2013 a Just Energy door to door salesperson came to my house. She asked to see my current energy bill. I showed it to her. She stated that Just Energy could lock my current CCF rate at 0.24cents, because that was the rate on my current bill with DTE at that time. I said OK, but it states on this contract that the rate will be 0.59 cents per ccf. She told me, it does but call Just Energy when you get the transfer letter and they will adjust your rate to the 0.24 cents because you will be a variable rate customer. Because you will be a variable rate customer, you can lock in that 0.24 cents rate. She even wrote that on my contract when I was signing up, because I was not sure. Which i am attaching a copy of. When I called Just Energy to lock in the 0.24 cents rate, i was told i was misinformed and that Just Energy could not give me the 0.24 cents rate becuse that rate was with another energy carrier, not them. I told Aldo, my customer service person, why would i sign up with someone to pay more than double what i pay now. Thats just stupid. He was sorry. Sorry he could not give me a better rate, sorry my sales person was misinformed, sorry i was cancelling with them. I am really upset that a company will flat out lie to customers just to get them to sign up, and get away with this.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
and if the document that was signed was modified by the sales person, then that modified contract is valid and Just Energy has to take it up with the sales person.
Just energy carrying out a contract that was terminated
In 2006 when I first moved into my new home, Universal Energy rep came knocking on my door and mislead me into signing a contract with them for natural gas. Being a first time home owner, I didn't know any better and I thought that this was something I needed to agree to for my gas supply. I later received a call from them asking to reaffirm my contract which I agreed to again. I can't recall if it was the same phone conversation or during a separate phone conversation that they asked me to agree to the terms and condition. At that point, I realized what I was signing up for was not a requirement and had argued on the phone about cancelling my contract. At first I was told that there was going to be a penalty which I disputed and then eventually the person on the phone agreed to cancel my contract without any penalty. I received a letter confirming cancellation from the Universal Energy.
Forward to 2011, a Just Energy representative came knocking on my door and told me to sign some paper and I told them I've already gone through this and will not sign anything and that I was with Enbridge. The representative told me that I was a Just Energy customer and to look at my bill and I will see that I was being billed by Just Energy. That's when I realized that all those years, no one bothered to cancel my contract and I was paying a fixed rate. I immediately called Just Energy and notified the Ontario Energy Board and because I couldn't find any evidence of the cancellation, there was nothing that can be done. Just Energy provided the re-affirmation phone conversation to the OEB as evidence that I did agree to the contract, but did not provide the phone conversation in which I had made the cancellation. Since I had no evidence, the case was closed.
Fast forward to 2013, I stumbled upon the cancellation letter and notified Just Energy. They reviewed the case and decided that there was going to be no reimbursement because the contract was carried out and it's been over 2 years since the contract ended.
It makes me wonder how come no one saw this cancellation letter in my file when it was first reported in 2011 and why wasn't the phone conversation where the cancellation occurred not provided to myself and the OEB previously which they now acknowledge they have. This company is hiding evidence and it is unethical how they operate their business. I feel like I’ve been robbed from. There should be some sort of consequences and for a company to wash their hands clean of this mistake is unacceptable.
I am going through the same thing with Just Energy in the state. I called to cancel the contract years ago. I've recently found out I am still a Just Energy customer after a look closer at my gas bill. When I called Just Energy up, they have the phone record of the agreement but not the cancellation. I wish I kept the cancellation letter. This company is very shady.
My name is Karen Regan I live in Akron Ohio.Last year and just today I had a Just Energy person come toj my door and show me the cridentials and ask to see my energy bills.I did not show them and i reported to them I did not like them comming to my door and asking for my bills.I want to know how I can stop this.I do not like anyone asking for my bills or comming to my door uninvited.
Non existent customer service
This Company is nothing but a scam and should be shut down. My bill has gone up approximately per month and is higher now than my daughter's. She has a bigger house, more occupants etc.. If you are a day late paying your bill they hrass you at home even if you call them back to make arrangements to pay---even if you short pay them by 1.00 the will consider you late. Epect daily phone calls and threats in the mail for disconnection, take you to court etc.. You can not cancel their service or you have to pay them a 700.00 fee. This is ridiculous as their service is horrible. They do not keep their word about what they promise you when signing. DO NOT FALL INTO THIS TRAP! THIS IS THE WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH!

i would really like if somene could contact me as a friend of mine is having the same trouble ! did anyone seek legal advice?

Scammed in to "contract"
A little over a year ago, two individuals visited our Leduc home informing us that they were from Just Energy and that their provider was newly approved to provide energy services in our area. They asked if they could speak to me regarding how we could save by amalgamating our natural gas and electricity to one provider. My husband wasn't home yet, so I spoke with them on the porch until he arrived home. They explained how the rates would merge and provide a lower combined rate than Epcor/Altagas could provide. They asked if I had an Epcor or Altagas bill around so that they could point out the rates on the bills and compare our current rates to their promotional rates. I did show them our bills, and they easily compared the two rates and showed me how their combined rate would be slightly lower. They also explained how they would not be charging any administrative fees and that represented another almost $14 in savings monthly. These two gentlemen were very friendly and seemed very knowledgeable.
When my husband arrived home, he was asked to fill out an application form and to make a phone call to the employee's supervisor to verify our ability to qualify for this offer. Our 2 and 3 year olds were screaming by this point, ready for bed. My husband answered the questions from the supervisor on the phone, and was told he qualified for this offer. He told the two Just Energy employees that he would like to think about it, and the two Just Energy salespeople were very nice and accommodating. They let him know his approval would be on file if he decided to accept the offer and then they left. In the midst of getting our exhausted and screaming children to bed, we never realized they had taken the "application form" and our Epcor and Altagas bills with them until days later. However, we saw no reason for alarm. We assumed it as an oversight. We decided not to go with the offer and didn't think about it again.
Imagine our surprise when just over a month later we received a $413 bill from Just Energy. In telephoning our previous utlitiy companies, we were informed that Just Energy had indeed taken over our account from the utility companies. Incredulous, we phoned Just Energy to be told well yes your husband has signed a 3 year contract with Just Energy. Despite our repeated insistence that we had not signed any contract, we were assured that indeed he had and that if we refused to pay our bills at any point over the next 3 years they would send him to collections for the balance on the account (equating to thousands upon thousands of dollars). We tried speaking with supervisors, team leads, and got the same response from everyone at Just Energy. We were constantly refused a copy of the "contract" we had supposedly signed, with them repeatedly telling us we already had a copy. The company denied any wrong-doing, and refused to offer us any assistance at all.
After months of frustrating dealings and no forward progress, we had also noticed another very troubling issue. Our bills with Epcor and Altagas had been a combined total of an average of $300 dollars throughout the year (obviously less in the summer, more in the winter). We were receiving monthly bills anywhere from $300-$600 in the spring with Just Energy! And there were administrative costs on each bill up to double what Epcor's had been! As a stay at home mom of two young children, you can imagine that finances are tight. There simply wasn't room in the budget for our energy costs to double. We fought time after time about the amounts of the bills, and were repeatedly told that we must be using double the energy. As we are very conservative in the energy we use, we knew this was not the case.
We tried the consumer utlities advocate, who to date have been unable to help us. We tried appealing to trouble shooters, lawyers, or anyone else we could think of. We reported it to the fraud department of the government, who wrote back saying this did not constitute fraud or scamming. Having run out of places to turn, we sold our house last month and moved into a rental for a month while awaiting possession of our new home. After setting up Epcor and Altagas accounts at the rental, Just Energy swooped in and somehow took over our accounts at the new address. We are petrified that the same issue will happen when we set up new accounts at the new address, or worse that we will be sent to collections for thousands of dollars that we do not owe them in the first place.
Terrifying. I am all over this company on twitter, sharing stories like yours and, most commonly, their damning BBB rating/alert because of my experiencing similar treatment, including unceasing harassment when they made an error. I agree with the BBB - people NEED to be warned about them! Wish I had been. Keep taking it public, and good luck - if I see you out there you'll always have my RT!
I am so sorry all of this has happened to you and your family. I hope things get better for you all.
Billing errors
I signed up for Just Energy in September, 2012, with the expectation that my electric utility bills could be lowered based on their rates. Living on a fixed income, every cent is critical to me. I set up my account so my monthly bill would automatically be charged to my bank account each month so I could not worry about my electric bill being paid on time. It is not June 2013 and I received a bill for my may service and was concerned since my usage went up even though I have deliberately done without to keep my usage low. To my surprise, the dates I am being billed for are for a period ending in November, 2012. When I called Just Eneregy to inquire about the discrepency in dates, I was advised the the error was on the part of another company, Oncor, who apparently failed to submit my monthly readings to Just Energy each month. In spite of that, I woudl be expected to pay all charges since November, 2012, as Just Energy had not billed me. I called Oncor and questioned why they did not submit my monthly readings only to learn that not only did Oncor submit the readings each month, but Just Energy paid Oncor for the billed kw used which is about half of what i would have been billed.. The problem was not Oncor's but rather Just Energy. I returned my call to Just Energy and advised them what I learned from Oncor, only to then have them tell me that there was a "glitch" in the computer and therefore I was not billed. In spite of the fact that the error was entirely on the part of Just Energy, they would not agree to any reasonable consideration short of having me pay the past due amouts they failed to bill me. The best solution they could provide would be to determine the unbilled past due amouts and pay it back over the next 5 months; that would result in an increase in my monthly expenses byb about $100 per month. Living on a fixed income makes that arrangement impossible. The people at Just Eneergy are rude, inconsiderate, and have little regard for individuals living on fixed incomes.
This company is continuously calling and harassing me each day about a bill that isn't even mine. When i contact them on the matter they say that it's the collection agency that's making the calls. Then when i contact the collection agency they tell me that they do not have any info. on me and it's not them thats calling me. All i know is that i'm in Just Energy data calling base and i have ask them several times to remove my number and have their computer to quit calling.
Lies
I phoned Just Energy FOUR times in April advising this company of my move and confirming details to switch my account from St. Paul to Edmonton. four out of four times I spoke to four different representatives and was advised and informed of four completely different pieces of information! After receiving my first bill, I noticed that the new tenant at my previous residence is now linked to MY account, meaning, I am paying for TWO residences for power AND gas. When I phoned to clear this matter up, I was informed that two of the representatives documented that I DID NOT ask that my move be processed, as well as other hideous things that I DID NOT SAY. I corrected that in fact, the second to last individual confirmed that I had phoned well within my two weeks of cancellation period and that my services would most definitely be cancelled as of MAy 01st as well when I contacted this compay again in May, the last representative confirmed that MY SERVICES HAD BEEN CHANGED. Just to have this representatie today May 15, 2013 tell me that this is all my fault, to cancel the other residence will be from 2 weeks to 45 days, and call me a LIAR! When I tried explaining my last four phone calls she threatened to "disconnect" the phone. How is it that I am now paying for two residences when I phoned FOUR TIMES ONE MONTH in advance to ENSURE that my services were changed and the details were correct?
We signed up with Just Energy Jan, 2010. Our mailing address is different from our house or service address. I filled this out on the sign up forms and told the salesman about the two addresses. I expected to have my bills mailed to my MAILING address, but it didn't happen. Over the next 27 months, I called them 11 times to try and get my bills mailed to the correct address. They did manage to get one bill to me and a very nasty letter threatening me with lawyers if I didn't pay my bill. I told them I would pay if they could manage to get a statement to me as I wanted to see an actual bill. Finally they set up the online bills which have been mostly reliable. I've read all the horror stories from people who try to terminate their contracts and think I may just ride it out, BUT it would definitely be my preference to say good bye to Just Energy and go with a different provider. DO NOT USE JUST ENERGY. Their electricity rates aren't too bad, but their gas rate is consistently significantly higher than the past almost three years we've used them.
Just Energy keeps calling me every right days for full payment on account every month around 220$ I am a single female on medical EI I live alone so there is not all the lights on at home and when I an gone some where I don't have any lights on how can they say I am use ing way to much power. Two years ago I had six people living with me and the bill was cheaper. And as for calling me every eight days. I had to block there calls. Every day I get annoying calls from them at they start calling at 6 am in the morning and sometime four times a day. I can only paid once a month because I have a mortgage truck and house insurance and berally any money for food. The odd time I can pay my phone bill that's it so just energy just buzz off you will get your money in time they wouldn't like it if I called four times a day.
Just energy
Just energy keeps phoning my home repeatedly, after I have continually tell them that they have the wrong number that there is no Lena that lives here, I have had the same number for at least 12 years...and I explain I have never even heard of this woman, just energy tells me that. No problem they will take care of it...it happens again...they tell me to give it a week..I do...they call again...and again...and again... I phone back tell them the story all over again..they tell me..no we can not control the automated machine! So like what the...? I told the, fine I will be charging them for harassment...they have even emailed them a cease and Decised. Now lets just see how stupid these ###s really are...I expect they will be calling again...they are like goldfish u see... 3 second memory. I'm am very fed up...what would be the next legal step?
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
You do not say where in Canada you live. If you are a Bell customer call them and ask about Call Screen or Call Block.. That should end the problem.
Maybe you should consider sending in a 'cease and decist' as opposed to what you put there(cease and decised) including all pertinent information to ensure there can be no room left for the companies imagination. Include acct #, name, address phone #'s not to call, state please cease and decist and date it, keep a copy for yourself and fax one to just energy. Good luck.
