Koa Lost Bay Lillian Alabama
We recently stayed at the Koa Lost Bay in Lillian Alabama checked in on 7/31/2021. On 08/04/2021 a employee ran into our brand new camper with a zero turn mower. We have tried to work with the campground & insurance they keep saying they need to determine liability . Our camper is now leaking water in the bedroom where the slide was hit. We have tried repeatedly to communicate but keep being ignored. We just purchased this camper 3 days prior to this happening it's a brand new 2022 a grand design reflection that now not only has cosmetic damage but water damage. We was told by the maintence supervisor Rick Cross after the incident we should just leave we couldn't even get our slide In at the time . Come to find out the maintence supervisor is the owner Denise Valentynes son. We are full time campers at the moment while our home is being built this has literally cause issues for us not to mention now we will be facing mold issues Bc of the water damage. They treated us like it didn't matter & so did the adjuster for Philadelphia Insurance Company that represents them.

Abilene KOA
I arrived a few minutes before noon and was informed I had to pay an "Early Check-in Fee" of $10.00. This is on top of the Weeks fee I was charged which included extra charges for the weekend. We have been to many KOAs across the USA an never been charged a fee for early check-in. Also, this is a first to get charged extra for a weekend. I guess the owner of this franchise really takes the meaning of KOA (Keep On Adding) to heart.
This is by far not the nicest KOA we have stayed in. The KOA in Durant, OK puts this place in near dump category. We normally stay at a private campground east of Abilene as it is more convenient to our activities, but they were full.
Desired outcome: Refund the $10 early check-in plus $6 for the weekend fees.
Colorado Springs facilities and staff
My family and I chose Colorado Springs KOA to stay for 2 weeks because of the splash pad and activities for our grand children. The day that we arrived, the splash pad closed because of technical problems. I'm not surprised because everything in the whole park is in disrepair. The splash pad never reopened while we were there. The staff did not seem to grasp the urgency of getting it fixed quickly. The pool was open but it is small for the size of the park and it was overrun with kids and adults and the water looked green. The spa was available, but the jets did not work and it looked old, dirty and cracked.
There were many other places throughout the park that needed repair or updating. There were several places in the roads and sidewalks where water was standing 24/7. The mosquitos were quite bad (we got very bit up) and all of the standing water I'm sure did not help. The bathrooms were run down and not very clean. One of the toilets kept running and the staff didn't seem to care enough to fix it. Seems like a waste of water.
The traffic noise from nearby highway 25 is truly unbelievable. It was hard to even carry on a conversation outdoors. If you like sleeping with your windows open, the traffic noise gets to a fever pitch at about 6:30 am.
I will say that because of my complaining about the water park, the manager gave us a 20% discount for our stay. I appreciate that, but what we REALLY wanted was a nice place to stay while our grand kids could enjoy the splash pad. It was over 90 degrees most of the time we were there.
One more thing; as in almost all RV parks, the wifi works but is extremely slow and not really able to stream videos online.
Desired outcome: A phone call so that I know this complaint is heard. David Siebels [protected]
General Manager
We stayed at the Angola/Hogback Lake KOA in Indiana the past nine days. The general manager was rude & disrespectful to us and our visitor. He made accusations and wouldn't stop yelling. Our visitor was waiting, in her car, at the office so we could purchase a pass and he went crazy. He accused us of stealing passes! All she did was wait for us.

Coleville/Walker
We attempted to stay at the above KOA but experienced discrimination. They had a sign advertising sites available but when we enquired in the office, we were told they did not have a site for us (not that there were no vacancies). Our van had broken down so unfortunately we were not able to move it and we proceeded to call the insurance company to organise a tow. Meanwhile we noticed other arrivals were allowed in and did not appear to have reservations. While we were on hold to the insurance company, another staff member approached us and said we needed to leave the property. We explained the situation but the man showed absolutely no compassion and reiterated that we needed to move. I then had to push the vehicle off the property with my 70 year old mother, while my dad was on hold and the man who asked us to leave looked the other way. In summary, it was clear that the site had availability and discriminated against us for reasons unknown. In addition, they showed no compassion to a retired couple who were quite clearly in a crisis.
Desired outcome: A written apology from the staff members and an investigation into the discrimination policy at KOA franchises
Manager refused to refund my deposit
On 5/10/21, I made a reservation at KOA Elkhart/Middlebury in Indiana for a tent site from 5/28/21-5/31/21.
The email I received as confirmation states that a 48 hour notice is required to cancel a tent site. I called to cancel as soon as I knew the plans for the weekend had changed.
On 5/19/21, I phoned KOA Middlebury to cancel my tent site reservation.
The guy who answered the phone told me I would lose my entire deposit. I think his name was Jerry, he had an accent, and claimed to be the manager.
When I asked him to explain, he said that I would have to cancel a month in advance for a long weekend! I had only made the reservation about 9 days ago, so how would I cancel a month in advance?
I find this outrageous and unprofessional, especially since I am well within the stated time period to cancel. He said he is keeping my deposit, when it should be returned minus a $10 fee.
Oh yes, he said he didn't care! He actually said this.
Then he asked if I could call back tomorrow morning and I said no, I had an appointment that would prevent me from doing so. Then he hung up on me and refused to answer any further calls.
Look, all I want is my deposit refunded. What kind of business does this to customers? This is my first experience with a KOA. It will be my last one.
Oh yeah, he said he didn't care about that, either! What a rude man. He should be banned from front desk work.
Can you help me get my money back?
Desired outcome: refund of my deposit minus $10 fee
False advertising
The Glenwood Springs West/Colorado River KOA Holiday is falsely advertising! Also not following Colorado COVID mask mandate. The two women at front desk and other staff were not wearing masks! They also state in their description for their cabins and show pictures that there are two twin beds in the loft. Our family booked this cabin because we have a 3...

We recently retired after serving 30-years in the US Army and decided to purchase our first class A RV. We pulled into the site at or about 10pm. Upon pulling in, I noticed the concrete pad was tight and curved. I was attempting to backup and correct the problem when the manager and her husband ran out of their house yelling and cursing us. I already have PDST from several military combat tours but, my wife calmed me down. They stayed so you know what "F" you are doing. I tried to explain the pad is curved and the two trees are hard to navigate when no grounds lights were on. She was drunk and/or high and continued to yell and curse at my wife, 8-year grandson and me. This was by far the worse people I have dealt with since returning from Iraq. I will be filing a formal complaint through Fort Bragg and the National Veterans Association.
Desired outcome: Full Refund
koa in wi dells
Very rude at check in. We were there an hour early and she rudely told me I was lucky it was open. I said we were sorry but tried to get set up before the rain. Also I talked to the people in the office before booking asking for suggestions as our trailer is 34' and has two pullouts. The sue was so small we had to pull in our awning partially to allow our neighbor to pull in. No room to do anything on the site.. I would never go again.
Staff
We have been discriminated against because we have a special needs child. They have harassed us nonstop and referred to my child as that boy and it told me I needed to shut that boy up I really should sue them...They kept making up fake accusations such as my son was too loud with his basketball when what he had was a beach ball they came storming over at...

We stayed at Treasure Lake KOA in DuBois, Pa from 6/27/2020 to 7/2/2020 out site numbers were 0961 & 963, and paid $515.65, it was the worst place. The Picnic tables were so old the kids were getting splinters off them, even with a table cloth that was plastic it got ripped up quickly, I could not use the other table at all due to it was rotten, the seat lifted off nails and all. The grass around the play ground and swimming pool was 8" to 12" high, and the pool was so cold you could not get in, they would not turn on the heater. They said they had a GaGa game, but did not even start to build it until the day before we left, and that is when they started to cut the grass and put the pool heater on, I guess the 4th of July customers can have a nice time but not the rest of the paying customers. We also had a garbage truck coming throught at 3am in the morning scaring the kids half to death. Not only should I have some of my money back, I will never or my family go to a KOA again. I wish I would have taken photos to show you
Over charged me and gave me the wrong cabin
I Was over charged for the cabin and then i was not even put in the cabin i paid for, I received a lower in cabin. i view the layout for the cabin to verify the one I paid for. When I spoke to the owner who did absolutely nothing to compensate me for the mix up. My family stays in KOA campgrounds quite a bit and this was enough to deter me from ever staying in a KOA again. Not only did the owner not even compensate me or give me what I paid for the owner was also very rude and always knocking on our door so the peace and quiet I went to receive did not happen either. never have I been so displeased with KOA.
reservation
The KOA campground in Waynesboro, VA will not let me stay there because I'm a local. Only if I am from out of town. I called KOA customer service, and Mark said to talk to a manager. I have plenty of money to pay for the site. I would like to know what is going on. If I can pay the campground I should be able to stay there. Can you respond please and let me know what I need to do?

Thank you very much
camping
I recently stopped at a KOA in San Mateo County to see if there were any openings for the evening. There were but not for people that had a roof top tent. I own a tepui tent that I paid 2K for. Great looking tent, less of a foot print. We were told that the owner forbids roof top tents in his KOA. When cutomers come to camp after traveling long distances and go to check in only to get turned away because of their tent you can believe there are some pretty angry birds out there. Get with the program KOA this is called progress. Don't know if it is it is this KOA only or all of them. I know I won't be back to any of them now!
no refund even as dorian approaches the campground
Stayed here for 4 nights paid for 6 . We had to leave due to the weather of Hurricane Dorian, I requested a refund and they said NO we are still OPEN even in the Bad Weather.
I called a couple of times and the manager there would not return my call to discuss further.
Not sure why they would make people stay in Harms WAY and not REfund them in view of the HURRICANE .
Not a very happy Camper ..
Horrible policy not to refund campers if the weather is really bad and you need to leave to stay safe,
Manager complaint - angelee hobson
I am not a complainer - but wanted to share my utmost disappointment at your Lava Hot Spring City Center Manager -Angelee Hobson. I am a value member and stay at several KOAs every year and very much understand your cancellation policy (7 days for cabins and 48 hours for RVs). When confronting the manager Angelee's why I was penalized for properly...
Read full review of Kampgrounds Of America [KOA]restroom/shower building were very dirty
We checked in on Monday 9/26/19, we had two deluxe camp sites. Went to use the restroom after setting up our tents and was very disapointed about how dirty the whole restroom/shower building was. There was feces in the one toilet, that was stinking up the womans bathroom that sat in there until Wednesday morning when they finally somewhat cleaned. There was trash and hair on the floors in the shower stalls. I own my own cleaning buisness so I know from a Professional stand point it could be alot cleaner.
And there were these big hornet bees flying around our camp sites, they knew about. when we compained about it they knew right were they where. So the following evening one stung a child in our group, when her dad called to complain about it again they hung up on him.
The amount of money we spent to stay there it should have been cleaner, and not have to worry about being attacked by Hornets.
rv sites
We love KOA campgrounds. We stay in them often. However, the sites in Durango riverside are very unleveled. The site we are parked in is so unleveled the sewage is backing up into the hose. We asked an employee about fixing the problem. He immediately became irritated and accused us of threatening him. Nobody threatened him. We simply told him there was a possibility of sewage spilling on the ground due to the problem with the site. We also went to the office to explain the problem to the lady in the office here and she became rude and irritated. The sites we are in are considered premium. We just want the problem resolved.
horrible experience during our 7/26/19-7/28/19 stay. unsafe equipment causing injury to a child..
First of all we have stayed at varios KOA's and love all the amenities and activities that are offered but most importantly they are all well maintained and you can see that owners take pride and ownership. Unfortunately that was not the case on our camping trip this weekend. Upon check-in there system was down so it was pretty chaotic and that was an ongoing issue all weekend long. One poor employee was keeping tabs of items that guest were taking from the store while at the same time trying to check others in. We were directed to the wrong site and then were asked to move. Our double tent site for a group of 12 was filthy, dry grass and poop all over. Temperatures were 104 degrees so having all the dry grass and with all the fires in California it was a very scary scene. Property pictures are deceiving, pool was dirty, the one bathroom available only had two working stalls and were filthy. It did not look like they are cleaned on a regular basis. This campground is in desperate need of a major makeover, but most importantly it needs a new owner who will take pride and ownership. We were determined to make the best out of our weekend at that point, however, our experience took a turn for the worst. Our kids were on the swings having fun when all of a sudden one of the girls goes flying in the air and lands on her back, cutting her finger and hitting her head and eventually passing out. Cause of fall, swing broke. When we went to front desk the two employees were trying to be helpful but we asked to speak to the owner Pamela. When she arrived she was like well what do you want me to do, she is a kid she will get over it. It's not like she is 45, now that would have been painful. She did not apologize for the incident occurred on her property, on the contrary she made this poor little girl feel guilty that it was her fault. Owner refused to do an accident report because she said it was Saturday and everything is closed. Paid almost $400 for two nights and this owner made my family feel that we were worthless. So saddened to see that this KOA owner only cares about MONEY!
