Kampgrounds Of America [KOA] Overall services

We have been staying here for almost a month and the problems just keep coming. Cable has been out more than half our stay. If you call the office to ask you get “oh we had no idea or I’ll let the manager know”. Multiple bath houses have been closed. The bathrooms are trashed, no toilet paper, backed up toilets, and fluctuating water pressure from good to a trickle. Wi-Fi is spotty at best. Some areas have it, other sites are dead zones and the park is aware but placate you with no answers or indifference. One of their workers told us that they are aware. There is no follow up by the staff you just get we’ll check into it and get back but never do.

Desired outcome: Fix your infrastructure so that the amenities offered are provided park wide. They market the services and charge for them but fail to provide them.

My wife, dog and I stayed at the Memphis KOA and we were infested with fleas and mosquitos. We didn’t know at the time that we were being bitten by fleas. We thought it was mosquitos because there were so many of them. I have at least 500 bites on myself and our dog was infested with fleas. I know that it was at the Memphis location because we came home...

Kampgrounds Of America [KOA] Complaint

an unidentified person, who refused to identify himself came into the boys washroom because of a complaint about loud noises. approximately around 1015p.

He threatened to turn off the hot water if they did not come out immediately.

1. your naked in a shower

2. it was not past 1030p

3. Freedom of Speach

Tho this unidentified person went and shut of the hot water and even turned off the lights in the bathroom room. where he did not know who was in the bathroom. what if?

Than followed them to the tent site. Asking a child how old he was and his information.

He also assumed alot of things to begin with.

Got to the tent and demanded I come out of the tent even though I had given him my name amd he was also very rude.

I was nursing the baby as he hum and babled crap interrupting the feeding and attempting to force my 11 year old to answer his questions.

It was an adult and a child in the shower just having fun. There where other campsites where they where being loud aswel. But this guy picked on 2 naked males in a shower. Endangering an already disabled child by turning off the hot water and turning out the lights.

VERY UNEXCEPTABLE.

We want compensated for the rude, ignorance including the unsafe environment that he caused by turning off the hot water and turned out the lights if nothing is done I will take this KOA campground to court. as it is all recorded from the second the issue arrised until he left.

Desired outcome: Refund 2 nights Turning off lights and hot water they could of slipped and fell.

Kampgrounds Of America [KOA] St Mary/East Glacier KOA Holiday

My son and I were in the hot tub and some pool for about 1.5-2 hours at most. When done, my favorite black shirt is now light brown, chemical burns on my son and my legs (disabled us on our trip), other clothes got discolored. My son and I told a worker on a golf cart about a skunk, joked about it, we got up about 2-230 PM to go to the public bathrooms but was trapped in the camping cabin with no bathroom due to 3-4 more skunks running around and living under our cabin. I can send you photos and prove based on the service and battery charged phones we had. We stayed with you on Thursday, July 13 to July 14 of 2023. I have been staying with you all for years and spent 100s and 1000s of dollars and this is just irresponsible hurting people like this and their health. I can take photos of the other clothing too.

Desired outcome: Restitution, reimbursement, credit or gift card, replacement of clothes, etc

Kampgrounds Of America [KOA] N2 6 person cabin

Stayed at this KOA at the start of our trip for two days. After 3 days gone, we returned to stay one night. When we enter the cabin the smell of urine hit my nose and eyes. TV also didn't function. After talking to people in the office. I was told there is no other cabins, they said they could spray chemicals in the cabin for us to breath all night, but no reduction on price of cabin for the night to offset the inconvenience of services not rendered. I also told them the TV does not work. They said they could try to fix it with no luck. I am extremely disappointed a nd will let other's know of the experience so they too do not have to have there experience ruined. I was told if I didn't like it to leave by front desk manager that walked out of office. Air conditioner's are old and extremely load. KOA in South Carolina was well maintained and modern. Here are some pictures attached of just a few thing's that I noticed as soon as I walked in. Urine in the corner, trash stuck behind the mirror, curtains torn and extremely gross windows. I will be contacting the better business bureau.

[protected]@gmail.com.

Kane Henning

Desired outcome: Clean cabin and if that couldn't be remedied then a reduction in price for service's that I was charged for that I did not receive. Customer service training for manager at the front.

Kampgrounds Of America [KOA] unsave ground conditions of the Gas Tank at the Borden - Prince Edwards Island Canada

We are KOA customer for 30 years and we never felt unsafe until the KOA at Borden.

When we arrived at we were able to stay in the small cabin that is adjacent to the Gas Tanks and the Bathroom area. As we settled in we realized that the huge propane tanks we just sitting outside the building on the ground without any attachment or concrete base to protect it from sinking into the ground in case of an earthquake. They were right in the middle of the site with kids and teenagers playing around it without realizing the danger they are in. The campsite is loaded with people that have no idea where the danger is.

I have never seen a setup like to be legal without the tanks are at least on a concrete base.

When we complained the owner was very unapologetic about it and could not provide a different location or was willing to pay for a hotel room.

We were supposed to stay two nights in this campsite and after complaining and returning the money we were ask to leave.

Which left us stranded without a place to stay on PEI so we decided to call off our trip to Newfound Land which meant we had to pay fro s new flight to return early.

Regarding the picture: look at the pavement that was just redone - the unstable ground crated a crack pointing to the two large gas tanks

Desired outcome: Better oversight of campsites and operators. We hope to get at least the additional expenses replaced.

Kampgrounds Of America [KOA] Cancellation of wrong reservation

In January 2023 I made an online reservation with the Glenwood Springs West / Colorado River KOA Holiday, checking in on 07/11/2023 and checking out on 07/14/2023 (reservation #[protected]). Realizing I had reserved the wrong dates, and not being able to cancel online (per KOA restrictions) I tried to call the campground and cancel but was advised that the campground did not open until March. Therfore, I made a second reservation for the correct dates; checking in on 07/14/2023 and checking out on 07/18/2023 (reservation #[protected]). As soon as the campground opened in March, I called (March 20th) and spoke with an agent, explaining what had happened and asking her to cancel the first reservation (#[protected]). She said "no problem" and indicated that the reservation would be cancelled and a refund would be issued and that the second reservation would remain intact (#[protected]).

Today, 07/11/2023, I received a call from Glenwood Springs West / Colorado River KOA Holiday asking where I was as I was supposed to have checked in. After reviewing the details of what had happened with the two reservations and giving her my latest reservation number (#[protected]) she told us that they had cancelled the wrong reservation (cancelled reservation #[protected] instead of the first reservation (reservation #[protected]) and had nothing for us on the dates specified in the second reservation #[protected] - July 14 to July 18. I have nowhere to go/stay and I am 2000 miles away from home.

Desired outcome: I want to be accomodated in the Glenwood Springs West / Colorado River KOA Holiday from 07/14/2023 to 07/18/2023.

Kampgrounds Of America [KOA] KOA Erie

This company cares nothing about customer service for its customers.

The way we were treated at one of their locations, was absolutely sickening, we were kicked out talking too loud past 11 around a campfire (we weren't) without our money being refunded back for the rest of our stay

The owners are very rude, and condescending (the way they spoke to my husbands mother earlier that day was very nasty and hostile, to the point where she was afraid to bring up an issue with the hairdryer because she thought she would get screamed at by the owner)

Looked online, and apparently there are plenty of issues with this particular campsite, but notified corporate anyway, and was told they cannot do anything about a refund, or even a credit towards a different location to provide customer service to, otherwise was a very poor experience

Considering the multiple poor reviews, that also said they would be writing into corporate with nothing being done, because obviously we fell into this issue that 30+ other people had experienced, corporate is likely not to do anything about this location (probably not even a slap on the wrist)

Its very sad to see how little they care about customer service -we will not be staying with KOA anymore, moving onto the future, and would advise everyone else to think twice before giving them your business, as we now have lost about $600

Desired outcome: Apology from campsite owners along with either:-Refund of our remaining stay of 4 days-Credit/Giftcard towards a future stay-OR--loss of franchise licensure

Kampgrounds Of America [KOA] Employee in lot 1068 at Las Vegas, Nellis Blvd

I am in lot 1115 and had a guy pull in next to us with a motor coach. He put down his air jack right on top of his power cord with about 3 tons of weight on top of it and I complained to the office about it, the coach has no sewer lines hooked up and it appears no one is even there as it took park people to call them and no one appeared until the next day to fix the problem. Prior to that we had just moved in and someone pulled into the empty lot next to us and vibrated our windows at about 1 am in the morning with music in their vehicle.

On Friday the 23rd of June we had a new tenant move in across from us and one of the park people was helping them. I walked over to him (lives in lot 1068 on Nellis park, do not know his name) and asked if the person in the motor coach was a black person as I have had some problems in the recent past and our car had just been broken into and the drivers side window was forced down and the window regulator was busted which rendered our driver door inoperable. I had to repair it and the it cost over $100 for the part alone. I reported this to the park and they only said, "what do expect your living in a park," (employee Bob). I was angry and had made an off hand comment about race which I regret.

Anyway, the employee at site 1068 went off on me after I asked him if the person that owned the motor coach was black. He said I had better not use the N word and he did not want to hear it. He also said, "there is lots of white trash in the park." He accused me of being a racist and I replied that I have the right to say anything I want and he said he would throw me out of the park and I said that was fine with me I want to leave anyway because of the recent problems and he told me I was paranoid and I replied, "you don't know what stuff I have been through," he said, "he did not want to hear it." I left it alone and went inside.

This guy is not the manager, he is a wanna be and has no authority talking to me that way. I went to the office and Chris the manager is not around. I would like a refund and want to leave if possible? I know this is a corporate park and have stayed here off and on for 7 years and have never had a problem. This guy has an anger management problem at the least as I never flew the N word and simply asked him who was in the motor coach as I was worried since they had put all that weight on the power line.

Desired outcome: This guy should be fired as he will goes over the top in his approach to people and over exerts his authority threatening to kick out someone and he is not the manager. His accusations are over crude and ignorant also.

Kampgrounds Of America [KOA] False advertisement

Travel 25 hours to koa south padre. When called was told beach "right across street and less than 1/4 mile walk" not true. We all have blisters on our feet from the approx mile walk each way to the beach! Paid over 100.00 night for the "premium regal site" that is advertised to have "excellent view of the bay" not only is there no view... All we see are weeds! And infested with bugs! The campground and facilities are not in good condition. This place gives a bad look for the koa brand! I emailed south padre koa... And no response!

Desired outcome: DISCOUNT AS THE SITE WAS NOT AS ADVERTISED!

Kampgrounds Of America [KOA] misrepresented campsite

Cloverdale / Healdsburg KOA

1166 Asti Ridge Road

Clorverdale, CA

Camped here May 25, 2023 - May 30, 2023

Site 98

I had made a reservation weeks in advance to stay at this KOA with the need for a quiet safe spot for our cat who is a 22 pound Maine Coon with long hair. I was informed that they had a perfect spot for us. We arrived on the reserved date and set up camp only to find the next morning that our whole site was nothing but cockleburs (please see photo). Every square inch of our site was covered with burs. We are still digging them out of our cat's hair.

We would have left the next day but had already scheduled in advance to meet family for special events and it was Memorial Weekend! Once family events were over, I went up to the office to share my concerns. Pam, the owner, was the absolutely most rude person I have spoken with at any campground. Some people have a bad day and some a bad life; I am not sure which it is for her. However, she had no concern nor compassion. In fact she was proud of the situation, saying, "This is part of our 'natural" habitat'!" I am an old farm boy that would be ashamed to allow a weed like this to flourish on my property let alone at a campground where people like to spend their time outside.

I requested that she would discount our stay by 50%. All she could respond with was saying, "I (meaning me) am just about the money!" Her manager, John, was standing nearby and heard the entire conversation. An hour later he came to me while I was doing some laundry and apologized for the way that I was treated. He indicated that if he had been there alone and in charge at that moment he would have discounted our stay.

If this KOA would have been up front with me when I called to make the reservation and specifically indicating that we were bringing a long hair cat and that the sites are covered with cockleburs then I could make an educated decision whether to reserve or not. Their website pictures, etc. greatly misrepresent the service that they provide.

My requests are:

1) Reimburse half of our expense. We did stay, so should be responsible for part of the expense; however, we dealt with horrible conditions that robbed us of the joy of a normal wonderful camping experience and our cat was miserable dealing with the burr mess. I feel that we should be compensated in some way for their misrepresentation of their campground.

2) That you would contact Pam and somehow share with her hopefully your concerns that the normal KOA standards of customer service are not being well provided by her. John needs to be recognized for his kindness and compassion. Perhaps you could suggest to Pam that maybe she does not have good people skills and let John, who has great customer service skills, be the front person at all times.

3) If you have the authority, please make them clean up the weed mess.

Thank you for listening,

Greg Hafeman

Windsor, Colorado

Kampgrounds Of America [KOA] Central reservation systems change in calculation of space needs

Things have changes under the lastest KOA Updated Researvtion system.

Based on experience on 3 KOA south of Rt 26 along 95 there is a change in the amount of space being allocated per rig as well increase in nightly stay. If a campground enters a space as 61 ft for a particular site which is enough space for 35 ft rv plus a tow vehicle or tow behind it will try and put larger vehicles in the same spot to try and increase the numbers per night with pricing starting over 75 dollars a night. It appears to get the space you need it is best to put as your RV length the total of the rv plus vehicles etc.. After you make the reservation call to ask the length of the spot that you reserved to make sure you will fit and not be in any of the right of ways. Marking down in notes in the reservation system you have a tow behind or trailer is not looked at for calculations. From what I understand the KOA reservations system gets 10% of the nightly fee. There are 4 KOAs so far within the last year I will not be returning to as a result of the new found calculator and pricing structure.

Desired outcome: Revise the reservation system calculator to allow folks to add the lengh of tow behind car and utility trailers

Kampgrounds Of America [KOA] Cabin

I have stayed 6 times in Bernillio location cabins and in Raton probably the same amount of times. I tried to book today with the Bernillio location and they seemed to want to discriminate against dogs. I have always had two dogs and take my own sheets along with sweeping cabin upon departure. They said they did not know I had two dogs and their policy is only one. Well I think KOA then needs to update their website with no drop down on how many dogs this is obviously not a choice. I have grown up traveling with parents and as an adult having nothing but awesome things to say about KOA America but sadly this has changed for me and no longer will tell people how great you are for when traveling with our fur companions.

Kampgrounds Of America [KOA] New KOA campground employee initiation

I would think that since KOA has been around for so many years, they would have the initiation for their new employees top notch. That is not the case. They are unorganized. They don’t tell the employees anything; they didn’t even tell us what our hourly wage is. No professionalism at the top. No introductions of the top employees to the old employees. Very very very unprofessional. Not at all pleased with KOA corporate performance.

Desired outcome: An apology from the corporate officials

Kampgrounds Of America [KOA] Lynden / Bellingham KOA Journey

We were scheduled to stay at this KOA on 10/12/2022. They misrepresented how far they were out of Bellingham Washington, saying they were 20 minutes when in fact it was more like 30.

When we finally got there, the park was shut down and there was no information that they had a reservation from us, despite a receipt in my email box saying they charged us. There was no information on the door that we had a reservation. Other people's names were on the door, but not ours. Everything was closed up and there was no one to ask. We had been charged for a site, but had no idea where to go or where to park. We were tired and done after hours of driving, but not even a modicum of information regarding where to go.

We decided that we would go somewhere else, since we had no idea where we could park, or even if this camp had received our information, and went to a non-KOA campsite. The next day, I asked for my money back, and they refused. They charged me $44, despite doing absolutely nothing to earn the money and not even giving me the most basic of service. I argued this and after many many days, they gave me $34 back and kept $10. I asked why and they stopped communicating. At this point, they are helping themselves to $10 of my money because they have access to my credit card. I wonder if this campsite should have KOA status. Before this I've always used KOA as a company name I can trust, but this has made me start to mistrust the brand.

Desired outcome: I would like you to investigate this campsite to see if they're cheating people or not.

Kampgrounds Of America [KOA] Reservations

In the last few years as a KOA member I have made reservations for multiple sites months in advance and in some cases even given the site number only to get their and be split from our group.

Examples of Complaints;

KOA Pigeon Forge Family Reunion split are all over the park.

KOA Currituck reserved sites together by number got there place our parties in different sites and the ones we originally requested/reserved sat empty the entire time we were there.

KOA Cape Charles reserved 2 sites together almost 6 months advance because one of our campers is disabled and I have to assist in their set up and tear down. When we arrived we were split and told that if we had $20 extra a site it would have been guaranteed which was not discussed when we reserved the sites. Then we were treated rudely and the site wouldn't put us together. Their explanation a new computer program to maximize their revenue on reservations. Sounds like only a program for "Customer Dissatisfaction ".

I plan let let our different camping clubs and groups know how KOA treats customers and recommend not to use your services. There are to many other camping resorts that want the business.

Our groups used to look to KOA for great accommodations, site selections and customer service. Your recently decisions are missing the mark on all of these KEY CUSTOMER POINTS.

Desired outcome: FIX these POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE Policies

Kampgrounds Of America [KOA] Customer Service/Management

On Saturday August 27th I was approached at 840pm with headlights in my car and eventually police officer's. I am a traveling nurse an wanted a couple days just to relax. I was booked from the 26-27. I noticed before I got there my tent had a hole but since it was only a couple days I decide hey I will put a blow up mattress in the back and just relax in the back of my SUV. The first night no problem the second night I fell asleep and it was a little warm so I started my vehicle unaware I forgot to turn off my headlights, at 830pm I was approached my one of the golfcarts and a lady saying I couldn't stay in my vehicle and my headlights are shining into her cabins, I apologized and explained I was checking out tomorrow and that it was fine last night she said I could stay there, I said give me time to gather my things as I got into my vehicle police officer approaches me and says the lady said I refused to leave... not once did I ever do such a thing nor did she ever approach me prior to that one time.

I was treated like a criminal and 100% I am not.

Desired outcome: I would like a refund and unsure what else. I had police approach me and that was extremely uncomfortable and scary.
