burners
I had this Kenmore Range going on 4 years. Sears repaired it 12 times for the same thing. The burners would come on with out the range being turn on. It is a big fire hasord. We leave the house we have to turn the main breaker off so it does not come on. The first year we had it Sears work on it 4 times. When we bought it they told us that if it needed repaired 3 time the first year they would replace it. That was a big lie.Last time they work on it the part lasted 94 days and they would not cover it because it was over 90 days. The parts they put on it was rebuilt parts not new. The range model number is. 790 [protected] If theyare using rebuilt parts for this model that tell me that there is a big problem with these ranges.
cost of repairs
Kenmore washer is less than 2 years old, repairman was out today, approx cost to fix, with no promises it will fix it, $490.00, plus $45.00 to look at it.
This is nuts, with all that is said on the net about these
machines, you think there would be a recall on the washers Sears is selling. Model # 110.[protected], ser#

broken machine
I bought a Sears Kenmore Oasis HE washing machine two years ago. After 18 months I was told I needed a new control panel which costs 400.00, that's more than a new small machine! it keeps displaying F51 in the middle of a cycle and the wash stops. I've read about a class action suit. Sears made a faulty product and needs to recall and replace the control boards for free. It's a terrible machine. They boast being able to do large loads, you can only do small loads or everything is a tangled mess. When it is working you can was only 1 sheet at a time. That's six loads you must do for three beds. Do not buy one.

Wow, this all sounds so familiar! The washing machine (kenmore oasis) was left here when we bought our home... and now I see why. First, we had the leak from the bottom, which my awesome husband fixed, and now we have the annoying UL code that won't go away. I just read over a dozen complaints from consumers about the same problems with the same machines and yet here we sit allowing the big corporations to take our hard earned money and give us dysfunctional machines in return! WTF!?!? I'm so sick of being taken advantage of by companies that are just too big to touch. If anyone has any useful advice on what to do to stop this cycle of corporate negligence, please please please contact me @ allybeccalau@gmail.com. Hopefully, together we can come up with a plan to get some compensation from a company that doesn't care that it's selling irreparable junk to consumers like us.
I too own a Kenmore Elite Oasis top load HE washer...and have filed with the BBB, and the class action lawsuit. will keep you all posted. Sears repair sucks...customer service...horrible, liars, uncaring...etc...through online blogs is how i found product resolutions who PROMISED me this part would fix my washer..of course it didnt, repair man was here today and its still blinking and buzzing like a monster...a ghost...it has a mind of its own. So the "keypad" i now need will be 400. 200 i was quoted for a warranty which i never purchased, like most of you because you figured spending 1000+ on a washer...would be sufficient..boy were we all suckers...I hope i have good luck with the BBB!
I have had my Oasis for 6 years and it has been repaired 2 times. Now I have been getting an error code F1. I had call Sear to send a repair person out to look at it and all they wanted to do is sell me a Service contract on it. They were so pushy and they wanted to charge my account the amount of $224.00 for the year. I did not have the money at the time I placed the service call and told them to please send the repair man for the diagnostic. When the repair man came out and told me it was the mother-board (circuit board) was bad and it would cost me $380.00 to have it repair but they would not charge for the labor if I place the order right there and then. I have to stay home when i do the laundry because I get the F1 twice during the cycle and have to stop and then restart in order to get the wash completed. I don't think it's fair that these machines are having problems and we as consumer's are not notified. I am very discussed with Sears and will never purchase appliance from them. I will work this machine as long as I can and get a new one. To all the people that are thinking on buying any Sears Appliances please beware and read all the complaints about their merchandise prior to buying them. If I know now what I knew when I purchased it I would have bought a different machine.
We have had this unit for two years and have a pool of water under it after each wash. I took the back panel off and found that the small black pipes under the control panel are wet. I'm assuming that this is where the puddle starts from, I can't however get access from them, has anyone done this disassembly?
I'm in the same boat as all of the others who have posted. The machine is a 2-3 years old. The first time the error 51 code showed up was 18 months post purchase. Of course, it was out of warranty. My husband is a Mr. Fix It kind of guy and he unplugged, replugged and rewired the control panel. A little over a year later, we have the same problem. He's checked the connections, took everything apart and found a small leaking area about 2-3 inches above the bottom motor housing. He suspects this is the problem for the error code and the leaking...turns out that wasn't the problem. This washer is junk. I feel cheated by Sears.
I just spent $79.95 on a “diagnostic” from the local repair shop. I purchased my Oasis washer in 2007 and the extended warranty. I have had a repair man here every year since purchasing this washer for UL, CPU board, agitator issues, and error code. My warranty ran out 10/2011 and I’m having the UL issue with wash “even when there is nothing in the washing machine”. The technician said the shaft has gotten bent from stress of the previous UL problems. Now it will cost me $200+ for the part, $100+ for the install, and the $79.95 I just spent for the diagnostic service call. I did not get any recall notice because they said it wasn’t in the recall list. I called the US Consumer Safety and Protection, they said they couldn’t help if it wasn’t causing a safety issue. I called the VA State Consumer Protection Office, they said to file a complaint and they would investigate and contact the company on my behalf. I’ve called Sears twice and they want me to spent $129+ for another “diagnostic” technician. I just want it replaced or the repair covered. It can’t run a load without needing manual intervention. And my husband has started taking the clothes to the laundry mat. I spent around $600 for the washer in 2007. I didn’t even know until today that Whirlpool makes these washers, I was told it was a Kenmore (Sears product). I wont buy another Sears applicance. I want to be included in any class action.

Wow! I purchased my "Oasis" set approx.2.5 years ago. I am now experiencing the "F51" code problem! I had no idea there were problems with these machines. This was not an inexpensive machine to purchase, and a little over 2 years down the road I am having problems? Sears/Oasis/Kenmore should be ashamed of themselves. Once they found out the product was defective, they should have informed the purchasers of these machines and told us what they would do to fix them! I am past the warranty phase and I do not know what to do. I'll be damned if I will pay hundreds more to have a 2.5 year old machine repaired. If there is a class action, I am in!
I also bought one of the Kenmore Elite Oasis peices of crap. About 30 minutes into a wash cycle the machine displays F51 code. Read some other complaints with the same problem and finally worked on the washer myself. ( I made very sure the power cord was disconnected, also the water hoses and drain hose) and tilted the machine over to where I could access an allen screw in the center of a white round panel. Believe it or not, this round panel is part of the motor with a row of magnets all the way around. Anyway, once I removed this, there is a circle of coils of wire. There are four screws either 9mm or 10mm screws securing a small metal plate which have to be removed. Once you remove the last screw, you have to be careful, because the row of coils will drop and there are two electrical connectors attached. Underneath this, I found the rotation position sensor (RPS) which has approximately 5 brown wires running into the connector. I unplugged the connector, cleaned the contacts with sand paper, sprayed the contacts with a silicone spray that I purchased from Walmart and reassembled everything. I then went to the mother-board (circuit board) at the top of the machine at the control panel (loosen 3 screws in the back of the control panel to gain access), unplugged all of the connectors, and sprayed these contacts with the silicone spray. Put everything back together at the control panel; now the machine works great. No more F51 code! Not sure how long this will last, but now the washer copletes a wash cycle without any malfunction codes.
My machine has not washed my clothing properly since my purchase, my clothes smell musty after being washed and i have tried every thing to solve the problem .
please contact me ...joe terrick if you are interested in starting a class action lawsuit against kenmore oasis washing machine company!

not quality I expect from kenmore
Where did these other 500 Series come from? I just started using my new Kenmore 500 Series washer. About 6 loads. First load took me 10-12 min to untangle a pair of tennis shoes from the rest of, nearly, the entire load. I have never done anything unique with my prior washer, which was a Kenmore model...I think it was over 30 years old. Couldn't even find a...

The screws holding the door handle to the door come loose. These screws are also the hold the door together at the top. The result is that sometimes when you open the door to the hot oven the door comes apart with the inside (hot!) part flying up and the outside part flying down. Others have reported the glass breaking, although I have not had the glass break myself.
When this happens the seat where the screws enter the plastic handle is damaged, so that once it happens the first time it happens again and again.
This is a definite safety issue!
My model number is [protected]; it was bought about three years ago. A call to sears resulted in no help. I feel that since this is a safety issue there should have been a recall.

I have the exact same problem! I do not want to buy a new oven. But it looks like I may have to. I'm not sure how old my oven is. The oven was in this house when we moved here two years ago. It's stainless steel. It's not like it's harvest gold or avacado green! So, it's pretty new. You are exactly right...once it starts coming off, it KEEPS coming off...when you least expect it. I have never had Kenmore appliances before moving to this house and will never have them again. Not impressed.
I have had the very same problem, I have almost had my hands caught a few times
defective refrigerator
I had a Kenmore Elite Side-by-Side refrigerator Model #5770 delivered on Saturday, December 27, 2008. When I got up Sunday morning to go to a family Christmas gathering the refrigerator was warm inside. All the food was melted; what a mess. So I spent the morning cleaning the mess. Sears said they would send a new refrigerator, but it would be a week before it would come in. They also had a repairman come the following Wednesday, and I was told he would arrive between 8 and 5. What a waist of a day. The repairman couldn't do anything because parts would have to be ordered and wouldn't arrive until after the new refrigerator came. Then, because we didn't buy the extended warranty we couldn't be reimbursed for all the food loss. I had extra food in the refrigerator because I had company for Christmas.
For the next week I had to use coolers outside for my cold food. You don't know how hard it was using coolers for a week when you have company; running in and outside in the middle of winter looking for the food you need and bringing stuff in at night so it doesn't freeze. I can't believe we weren't compensated for anything after only having the refrigerator for a few short hours.

inside light unit got too hot, melted, fire hazard
We purchased a Kenmore bottom freezer refrigerator from a Sears store in Marion, NC for our house that was under construction, in Oct. of 2007. The house was completed and the appliances installed in December of 2007. On Jan 2, 2009 my husband smelled a plastic burning smell and traced it to the refrigerator. When he opened the doors he could literally feel the heat from the lights, he put his hand up to the light cover and it was almost too hot to touch. He closed the doors and went to the breaker box to turn off the breaker and before he could get the breaker off he heard a crash and went back to the fridge where he found the light cover had fallen onto the top shelf. The lights had gotten so hot they had melted the cover and the screw holes that held the light cover in place. He threw the breaker and as soon as the bulbs were cool enough to touch he tried to remove them. He had to wear gloves since it had gotten so hot the bulbs were fused to the socket. He finally got the bulbs out where he found a hole had been burned into the top of the refrigerator from the bulbs.
He called the repair number for Sears and reached a person who could barely speak English, when he asked where they were located he was told that they couldn't reveal their location according to law...what? This person could not grasp the concept that the appliances (we bought all our appliances from Sears for our new home) were not two years old, she argued with him that since they were bought in 2007 and it was now 2009 they were 2 years old. He finally gave up and called the store where we purchased them. We didn't purchase a service agreement, thinking that if you pay that much money for an appliance then they should last for a few years at least! But thinking as some of the other complainants, Sears was a reputable company and would stand behind their product, we found out they obviously are not.
We are suppose to have a service technician come out on Monday to give us an estimate. However, when we told the technician that there was a hole burned in the top of the fridge, all the way to the insulation, he said more than likely we'll have to replace the fridge, which was $1900. I'm not sure at this point that I want another Kenmore even if somehow Sears will replace it. I have found this same problem occurring during the month of December of 2008, so it isn't being fixed or addressed even at the place where they build and manufacture the appliance. If my husband had not been here it could have easily burned our house down. I wonder how many homes have been burned down and the cause not attributed to these refrigerators.
We'll see what happens when the service guys comes on Monday. I intend to file complaints with every thing from BBB to the Atty Gen of NC. This is dangerous, not to mention a huge hassle and Sears needs to stand up and take responsibility and stop worrying about their bottom line. In this economy you'd think they couldn't afford to lose any customers.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I opened this fridge one day to find the plastic cover had fallen down. You could see burn marks on it. I figured out the light bulbs were too high wattage so I bought lower wattage bulbs, and was able to put the plastic cover back with little shims on each side made of cardboard to hold it up. From now on I buy Whirlpool only.
heating element fire
Another Kenmore oven heating element fire. We have the Kenmore 4783 wall oven, installed about a year ago, the oven is close to two years old.
Same story - when heating at 350 degrees, the heater element failed and caught fire. My wife was in the kitchen and turned off the oven right away and the flames went out after a few seconds. Having read all of the complaints on this site, I worry about simply repairing and replacing the heating element as it seems to recur for some people. Not sure if this is related, but the oven has always cooked about 15 degrees low. For something that requires 350, we've had to cook at 365.

could have burned our house down
I was amazed to see how many people have had this problem with their Kenmore oven. This Christmas almost proved to be the last one for me, my husband, and son. I was up late preparing Christmas dinner for our family. I had spent 3 days thawing, brining, and getting a 20 pound turkey ready for baking. I placed the turkey in the oven preheated to 325 degrees at 1:00 am in our downstairs kitchen. We then went to bed for a few hours sleep. At about 4:30 am, I was awakened by the smell of the turkey baking but I went back to sleep for about 20 minutes. The next time I woke up, the smell was much stronger and didn't smell quite right. When I opened the door of our bedroom, I could smell the smoke and hear the smoke alarm coming from downstairs. Our smoke alarm upstairs was not going off yet. I ran downstairs to find the bottom level of the house full of smoke. The black smoke was pouring from the oven and I could see the element on the bottom of the stove glowing red through the glass window in the oven door. The control panel was flashing F1 and the alarm was going off along with the smoke detector. I turned the oven off and then opened the doors and windows to try to clear the smoke. I then returned to the stove and noticed it had turned itself right back on, the element was still glowing red and the F1 alarm was back on. I turned it off again and it again turned itself back on. By this time I was frantic and scared to death and ran upstairs to get my husband out of bed to help me. I showed him again that when I turned the oven off that it just turned itself right back on. He had to turn the breaker off. Thank God that I smelled this because we did not hear the smoke alarm. Our turkey was "cremated", but we are alive. If the house had caught fire with us sleeping in the level above, we wouldn't have had a chance to escape. I know this is long, but I would like to try to warn everybody out there to never, never, never trust this range/oven. I am furious to see that this many complaints have been made and that there has been nothing in the news. I had no idea! I will never use this stove again, it is destined for disposal. We will file formal complaints with both Sears and Consumer Protection. For now, we have made sure to call all our family to tell them how much we love them, because you never know if you will ever be seeing them again. All for a stupid, faulty stove that they don't have the decency to recall. Is there no sense of respect for human life out there anymore. Keep safe out there!

I have the same problem as "Don'tbuyKenmore". See http://www.cpsc.gov/en/Recalls/2009/Frigidaire-and-Kenmore-Smoothtop-Electric-Ranges-Recalled-Due-to-Fire-Hazard/
Be very careful, we experienced all three items: burner turned on spontaneously, wouldn't turn off. We had to shut down with the breaker box.
Unfortunately, model # 790.[protected] is not on the recall list and they will not fix if it isn't on the list. I also filed a complaint with the CPCS, no response yet.
I purchased a Model 790 Stove March 2009. The stove is very attractive and appears to be very functional. However, when we use the oven for any length of time (400 degrees F) heat is being transferred to the top surface of the stove. The heat is great enough to actually create blisters from the touch. Again, we found that any one of the top burners, if left on for a few minutes also transfers very high heat to the surface.
We had a Sears service technician come to check the stove. He did not check anything for a problem. He stated that all of the electric stove have the same problem. I questioned how dangerous this stove could be when we have grandchildren over or how dangeroud this stove would be if attempted to us the self cleaning feature.
I had this exact problem with my own Kenmore Range, it also being manufactured by Frigidaire. It was 6 years old. When I contacted Sears about this, they claimed there is "no known safety issues with their ranges". However, after researching this, I found that there is a huge safety concern with their stoves and they need to address it quickly before someone's house burns down! I filed an online complaint with the Consumer Product Safety Commission. A representative from the CPSC came to my house, took pictures of my stove and is building a case against Sears. I urge everyone to contact or file an online complaint with the CPSC to help their case. I will never buy another Kenmore product.
We have just experianced the same problem with our "Sears Kenmore" 790.95301. Fortunately I recognized the potential for a major fire problem and got to the circuit breaker and shut off power to the stove. I also called Sears, telling them about the "F1" code and arranged for a service call. While waiting for the serviceman ( a few days ) we needed to cook something on the stovetop burners, so I powered up the stove only to find that even though the oven controls had not been touched, the oven went into the "run-away" mode once more, so off went the circuit breaker again!
When the serviceman came, his comment was that he thought that this stove was a great model - so much that he had purchased one for his own home! Hope he remembers where his circuit breaker is! He also advised me that the cause was a shorted oven control relay on the control board and the entire board must be replaced as they do not perform individual component repair/replacement. ( All of this without performing any electrical diagnostics or tests it appears that this is a regular failure with this model ) The cost of the repair - parts, labor & taxes was quoted at $361.41 which exceeds 50% of the value of the stove, and we would wait 2 weeks for the part to arrive so that he could return to do the replacement.
We intend to pursue this with our local Sears store ( where we purchased the range ) as this is a major design fault that needs to be adressed, and we also feel that the cost of the repair is excessive and we want to see what they will do for us.
I have also had problems with a Sears range. I researched the product and the 790 is made by Frigedare. I have been working with Sears since November because of a bad circuit control board that controls the burners. The burner would not shut off and got hotter and hotter. I turned off the breaker to shut it off. Tjis happened as I was preparing for Thanksgiving and we had to go out and cancel dinner. No safety shut off in range for these problems. Sears could care less. Very rude service department. Still have open case as I am not satisfied with their answer.
Next call will be to the Better Business bureau.
broken parts
We purchased a new Kenmore refrigerator at Sears. I was excited to have a new refrigerator as my previous refrigerators had been used. After one year, three of the door shelves and two of the drawers were broken. I didn't realize this until after the one year warrantee was up. We called about replacing these parts, and found it would cost over $100 for a single door shelf. I couldn't stand the idea of buying $1200 refrigerator to spend half as much on replacing parts to make it look nice after only a year, so we duct-tapped all the drawers and shelves. They are now functional - but I thought I would have a nice new refrigerator for at least a few years. My old, used refrigerator had no duct tape on it at all. I would like very much to talk to the CEO of this company about how wasteful this kind of manufacturing is. If anyone knows how to do this, please let me know. It's very important that our country take a hard look at itself and ask how we have become such a disposable nation.

We had waited for almost a month for parts to be ordered and shipped. The the repairman from Sears came and supposedly fixed the icemaker and all. 5 days later, it started leaking profusely. I called 800 number and "JP" told me to turn off the water and to wait till next Thursday (5 more days) because this is the first available day. I asked him what to do with this leak. He said: well, find the valve and turn it off. I asked him about same or next day repair service they offer online. He said: only if your refrigerator is not cooling and you have medicine or baby formula in it. how do you like that? I asked: so it is ok for me to be without water for 5 days. He said: Mam, you know your options. Good bye. And just like that, he hung up on me. HE HUNG UP?! Can you believe that? I think that says all about the level of service at SEARS repairs.
I bought a frig from Sears in Glens Falls New York on May 22 to be delivered May 29. The frig was defective and after over 15 phone calls - it was to be replaced, but not until July 3rd. In the mean time it went on sale for $300 less than I paid (at their "BIG" sale) on June 10th - but because it was over 14 days they won't price adjust. Only compensation even offered was $100/or 1 year coverage - I had water on the floor, condesation, no water, no ice and a cabinet out on the kitchen floor for over a month. Sears phone people have a rehearsed message and are no help. They opened a case, but when new frig was ordered they closed it.
Very frustrated. I would send you a picture of the condensation, but on a black frig it is hard to see.
after repair was completed refrigerator still did not work properly could not get technician to return to correct problem
I purchased a refrigerator from Sears and I will never buy from sears again. We had a problem with the fridge and the kenmore service company contracted by sears to service it never showed up after my wife waited all day for the service repair man. The company then hung up on us when we called to complain, explaining that they had 100 people to service and were too busy.
The service company also bills u $65.00 before they even show up, which by the way they didn't. So if u are willing to deal with sears and Kenmore's lousy service department go right ahead but be warned.
Sears is the worst company to deal with. It is like they don't even care whic they probably don't.
I also purchased a new Kenmore refrigerator - Dumb me, stupid thing freezes my lettuce but wont make ice. I will never again buy from Sears will cancel my card and bad mouth them every chance I get

sears product and service is bad
We just got this Stove at the end of August and used the self clean for the first time. It went into an error mode, the door will not open, the vent fan won't stop, it won't stop beeping and the cooktop won't work at all. Sears repair service books 3 weeks into the future. I told them that to expect someone to be without a stove for that long was rediculous so they said they would see what they could do.
They moved me up to a week and even though I explained all the problems with this stove and stressed that I didn't want the tech showing up without the proper tools and parts to get it fixed, the guy shows up and trys to open the door with a coat hanger which certainly didn't work and then said he was going to have to go to the shop and get a service manual and come back on another day.
After the miserable time I had getting these delivered - 6 days late and two days lost to waiting around for them, I phoned customer service and they told me I should demand an exchange for a new one so I called the Skyview store where I bought it and talked to the salesperson who sold it to me, who said she would talk to her manager and call me back - she claims she did but their number never even appeared on my call log. After I called back she gave me the "Manager's" name and told me to call her. After telling my story to her secretary she finally let me talk to her manager who I told I wanted a new stove, this lady then said she would phone service first thing Monday morning and try to get me emergancy service, All day Monday, no call back, half way through Tuesday I call the store back and am told she's not in. I again explain my situation to the secretary who says she will have the "Store Manager" call me back, I gave her all my numbers and suggested which one was the best to reach me on and when. Here it is Wednesday evening and I still haven't gotten a call back.
Customer service is now telling me it is more than 90 days past my delivery date and it is now too late for an exchange - even though my initial call for service was within that period.( Ther records still have the original delivery date not the actual one it was delivered on 6 days later- they claimed my stove was delivered even when it wasn't - they send their guys out without cell phones and when they can't find your address they just take it back to the warehouse and the system shows they delivered it anyway- fun fight that one was).
Needless to say, I am regretting the over $4000.00 I spent on my stove, dishwasher and microwave from Sears this summer. It also is no matter to them that I have also recently spent several thousand dollars on bedroom furniture at that same store. Well due to the unbelievabley bad service from delivery, to quality of product, to repair I certainly won't be spending any more money there and I do not recommend any one else do it either unless you like having no stove for 3 weeks and then just hope the guy will actually fix it when he shows up.

I bought a Kenmore refrigerator and payed over $1000 for it. I thought it was a good refrigerator but after 6 months the problems started. the first time, after I brought food and filled the refrigerator all the food was all frozen. I call them up and they say they could send a tech to repair it, they never told me they could credit me for any food lost. But this happen 3 times after the 3 time I ask them I wanted them to pay for my food, but it took me 5 phone call to get a check in the mail. I just have problems after problems since them but they won't replaced it or give the money back. just a week ago they fix the freezer side, it was over freezing everything, the ice water is drifting at the bottom and there is a lot ice I try to keep clean. Now, after 2 days of them coming it doing the same thing. I am so frustrated.
I feel your pain, believe me. I bought a new Kenmore refrigerator AND laundry center 1 year and 3 weeks ago...refrigerator caused 3 or 4 problems during 1 yr. warranty period, then broke completely (losing all food) 1 week after year was up. Laundry center broke 2 weeks after year was up. I've been a lifelong customer of Sears and purchased Kenmore products throughout...rarely had any problems and they lasted forever.
Now, they are very poorly made, priced too high and obviously not built to last (that's why they push that extended warranty so hard...they know full well their products aren't worth a d___ anymore).
The best they could do for me was offer 20% off a new refrigerator (up to me to take away old one, shop and deliver and install new one) - how pathetic.
In addition, I had just furnished an apartment I rent out with brand new KENMORE (YES) APPLIANCES - FRIDGE, DISHWASHER, STOVE AND OVEN HOOD AND MICROWAVE. I have decided to return all of these rather than risk dealing with this company one more time. I'm through with Kenmore and with Sears - after 35+ years of business.
Don't worry - can't be long before they are through as a business. Bullies may go down last...but they go down HARD...AND FOR GOOD.

My elderly mother and father recently purchased a Basic Black Dishwasher from KMART under the Kenmore Brand. It was not cleaning their dishes even when they rinsed the dishes before placing them in the dishwasher. They called for repair and the repair person stated that everything worked OK but the dishwasher was cheap and wasn't going to wash dishes. I personally believe that a dishwasher should not be available for sale if it does not wash the dishes. Maybe when salmonella or other food poisining occurs in a family household the health department should look at the dishwasher. I am lucky my parent's did not get sick from a faulty product. By the way KMART offered to replace the machine by charging them the additional charge to upgrade it.
Sorry to hear that, but you get what you paid for.
faulty controler
this is a complaint about your Kenmore elite oasis washing Machine Model No. 110.[protected]. I bought this washing machine in January 07 without buying your extended warrantee. Now however, the machines gives an F1 error and stops working. Sears service Dept. wants $95 for house visit. after many phone calls and internet searches i found out that the control is faulty and there are hundreds of complaints on the net regarding this issue. After speaking to many of Sears service employees, one of them told me that he is getting alots of complaints about this specific machine and i should call the Fed. Trade comm. and the Cal. state to report this product. i elected to buy the controler and pay for it $144 plus tax and delivery. This machine is faulty and it should be recalled and consumers should never be responsible faulty products. i will never enter Sears to buy any Sears products again.

Requested replacement of water heater. Oct 1, 2008
Called [protected]. Gave model and serial # and was assured it is under warranty, and to call [protected] for replacement. Was told service man would be there oct 2, 2008 at 4pm. Man from a&e showed up at 5pm that day. Did not have replacement water heater, and i later found out that he did not replace water heaters, and did not service kenmore. But before he left he requested $65. 00 for showing up? To do nothing. I told him after installation i would pay the charges. He said he would enter on your records that " customer refuses to pay and that this bill would be forwarded to a collection agency. I said i would call to talk with a manager at a&e to resolve the dispute and get the installation complete. I called a&e at [protected] talked to a representitive and explained, and asked to speak to her manager she said you have to call sears.
I said i want to talk to a management pers at a&e. Again she refused. Getting no help from a&e i called [protected]
Received an order # to obtain a new water heater. Bottom line is i ended up having to pick up a new water heater and having to get it installed by another sears installation group. There is a lot more to this story, but i wish to inform you that i do not feel that the service persons on site or in your office truly represents the kind of business practices consument with good service. I do not feel that i should be resposible for any charges by a&e as i was not informed properly as to the expectations from the onset thank you for your attention to this matter, i await your response.
dishwasher
What EXACTLY is the dishwasher doing wrong? Is it leaving food residue, not draining or not cleaning the dishes to your standards? How old is the machine, what kind of loads do you put in, how long have you had the machine (did you buy it new or was it a used machine)? All this information is necessary for someone else to be able to provide you with any possible causes and fixes.
Exactly 4 years ago, I purchased a Kenmore Elite Ultra Wash Dishwasher. I made myself use it at least once every couple of weeks to keep it in good shape, i.e. I was told to do this by the installer. A couple of months ago, the the dishes were just not washed well, i.e. my lipstick on a glass didn't even come off! I refused to pay the minimum $70 service charge from Sears so had anothe company come out. The service person told me that the problem was caused by a design flaw in this appliance and that he saw this a lot with this dishwasher. I was told that it had a weak pump and would cost $450 to repair this lemon that originally cost $699.98. I will be buying another dishwasher and will never as long as I live by another appliance from Sears. I was happy to see there was a least a website where I could vent. I also plan to forward this info to Consumer Report and anywhere else I can find.
mine just quit working. will not turn on. It is getting power - lights on switchboard work - except for the start button. 665.1384
terrible service & repair
We bought our Kenmore apartment washer and dryer around April /07. We had it fixed twice by the three month return mark for not going into spin cycle and draining the water. In that three months I told the lady we wanted to return it and she said we couldn't only to find out a month later we could have but now time was up and we were stuck with it. There records indicated It was only fixed once and that my dryer was fixed. (My dryer never had been fixed because it never had a problem).
Then again in June/07, June/08 they came to fix it again for the same problem. Now today I go to do my laundry and guess what same problem. I contacted them and asked why they haven't exchanged it for another one yet, when obviously it is crap! She said they have to come out and fix it more than three times for the same problem and the service tech's have to say it is not fixable.
Everyone of the service guys stated they didn't see the apartment style washer and dryers lots and weren't even sure what they were looking at and how to fix it. The last guy told me to put it in my truck and take it to the sears shop. When I spoke to the lady today she brushed me off and told me I couldn't do that. Now I am waiting for them to Show up Oct/08 (Long wait).
I also talked to a few people on the phone in between those calls and they have no record of it. Not only is their product crap but they can't even keep track of when and where their service guys have been and who their call center agents are talking too. I will NEVER buy a sears product again! And I feel sorry for the guy who had is dryer fixed and not record on his account now we know where my missing service call went!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.

yes I have a kenmore glass top range also going on 4 years old...sears says there is a recall on certain models going back about 8yrs...for the same problem...that is eyes coming on without cutting them on or turning themon and can't cut them off without cutting off the breaker...you cannot adjust the tempature when there on. Well, they say my model is not included on the recall, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM!
WE HAVE TO CUT IT OFF WITH THE BREAKER TO KEEP IT FROM BURNING DOWN MY HOUSE.
This unit is manufactured by FRIDGEADIARE for KENMORE/SEARS. THEY SUCK!
I guess I will have to buy foreign products from now on...like LG
