rude sales rep
Me and my wife went to the la fitness on june 13, 2010, located at:
Diamond bar ii
20801 golden springs dr.
Diamond bar, ca 91789
[protected]
Sales rep: michael / mike
Height: around 180cm
Characteristic: tattoos on his left palm.
After a short while waiting, we were introduced by a salesman named “michael”. he then brought us to his desk on the right (from the main door) and was asked to come in and join him, so we sat down facing him and the desk.
First he asked, “so what brings you here, you looking to get skinnier, or buff like arnold?” we laughed a little, then I asked, “just need to know your pricing so we know how much we are talking about.”
Then he mentioned that he needs to know what our intention is so he can set up a schedule and pricing and so on, so he went on and asked to my wife, “what’s your weight? how much are you planning to lose?” then my wife shortly answered, “oh, i’m not sure about my weight, I haven’t looked recently.”
Then I whispered to her, “do you want me to just ask how much so we know?” she nodded.
I asked michael again, “we just need to know the pricing, because we are doing comparison between fitness clubs and doing some thinking”, then michael said, “so you’ve went to other clubs and what are their pricing?” I then explained, “no, we haven’t gone to any other club, in fact, we are planning to go to the 24 hour fitness nearby and ask them the same question.”
Then he replied, “why don’t you go there and check it out”.
Then we both nodded, went straight out the door, without looking back, thinking in our head,
“we’ll never go back to la fitness again.”
So michael, here’s your letter of promotion, “congrats, now everyone know what you said to la fitness potential customers.”
wont cancel my membership
I am unemployed at this time i joined la fitness to help me with my loss of employment, they told me i was signing up for 240.00 for 30 personal training sessions and that was one time payment then they started taking 240.00 every month i called and explained my case they point blank refused to help me, i am really strapped right now for money and would never have signed up for that payment, they are dishonest people to say the least so i have closed my account so they can no longer bleed me dry i am trying to survive in this hard economy without staving myself and my daughter they don't care about anything but there money and i am very disheartened with these people and wont let them send me to the poor house.
Sincerely
Adrienne

rude employee
My friends and I play racquetball Wed. & Fri at 8 am in Escondido's LA fitness. The courts there are always in use by both men and women Mon. Wed & Fri.
Yesterday, for unknown reasons, the facility manager (housekeeping) decided that would be a good time to clean courts, and interrupted our use. (kicked us out)
She had just cleaned one court and had taken ours, now two courts were out of use.
As long as she has worked there and before, the courts are always in use by 8:00 am and vacant on Tues. and Thurs. mornings. Why does she need to clean on those days?
About a week before, the same employee came into the womens shower area and ordered everyone out immediately, because some service needed to be performed. She didn't give anyone a courtesy warning, like, "We need to perform some repairs, please be out in 15 minutes." (The facility manager's name is Sylvia)
I've documented instances where the same accumulation of trash has been left in the cup holders of the treadmills for up to three days.
Also, about three weeks ago, I let the front desk people know about a certain treadmill not working. It still hasn't been repaired.
imposible of cancellation
I went in person to Cancel membership, we went out of the country and just got back and moved to another state. I was checking my bank acct and six months after they are still charging and off course they don't have anything on file saying that I went in person to cancel so they will not credit me. Imposible to CANCEL membership even if they say it is month to month.
Went to LA Fitness Pearland 12/12/2012 afternoon
Spoke to the female receptionist who was
Friendly n professional; made me comfortable
N feel welcomed. As she enters info re me in the
Computer For a sales rep for me to talk to, a B/male 30-ish sales rep
Walks up n talks to her. a B / male 70-ish walks up to
to the counter next to me m this rep says to him what can i do for you
Man! i mean no respect towards this mani ! n the
Attitude! he says something else to him n points him
Toward the sales area. he then looks at the computer
N tells me i can have a seat. I told him i was still talking to the receptionist
n he says she is done entering my info. This guy has no clue
Where we are in our conversation, what we r
Talking about, doesnt say who he is except
Be rude. The female rep apparently was being
Relieved for a restroom break n he didnt like it.
This isnt the first time i've gone there interested
To sign up because it is closest to my residence, but their rudeness n gutter or ghetto
Talk accompanied by an attitude is not what
Care to put up with much less pay for. They also have
No hesitation to trash other gyms as ghetto,
Low class, etc.

rumor has it, employees do steal ***from a friend who works inside LA Fitness***, But who can prove that. No camera/picture taking in lockers. I strongly suggest LA fitness to overhaul the locker rooms.
The hinges are weak. Some of the lockers pop out on the hinge when you yank the doors outwards.
I just got 150 stolen, lucky the theft left my CC/ID. I am in NY Lake NY park location. I know it was not the first time. I was warned before I joined the gym by friends.
Searching on google yields many more locations has the same problem.
Love the gym. Don't feel comfortable leaving anything in the locker. Complained to headquarters, but I don't think they will do anything. I mean, why will they? it cost money/time to overhaul the lockers.

Sign the petition and let LA Fitness know that this is a big problem
I was just robbed recently as well. All of my personal belongings, my car keys, the keys to my house, my wallet with all of my ids, $60.00 in cash, a northface jacket and a gymn bag with all of my boxing gear. After reviewing the tapes, I cannot rule out that it is an LA fitness employee that committed the crime.
So, you are both suggesting surveillance cameras in the locker rooms?
LA Fitness requires all individuals in the building to log in. Each person must have a picture in the LA fitness database. Therefore, LA fitness should be able to check their records and see if there is #1 A new member #2 A member new to the site iif they have a multi-site membership. #3 what that person my look lik and other personal iformation and #4 if their presence is consitent with other robberies at any other location. #5 If someone can identify the perpatrator, they should be able to look at the recent logins and see if they recognize the individual.
What good is the login if LA fitness does not use the information to keep our personal property secure?
instructors that don't show up
The LA Fitness clubs at Clearwater and Palm Harbor Fl have had classes scheduled on Monday and Thursday morning at 8:30 am and for the past two weeks the classes are still scheduled on their computer and class schedule posted at the clubs, however no instuctor shows up for the class. Contact with the front reception desk to get answers provides no results. Contact with an alleged supervisor results in they will check with the proper manager but the results are the same. Scheduled classes but no instructors.

poor management
I have concerns about the management of the LA Fitness facility located on Montgomery Rd. in Altamonte Springs, FL. I do not feel I am getting the services that I am paying for. Today, I attended the 9:00 am Aqua Fit class only to find out that there was no instructor. Yesterday, Fri. May 14th, I attended the 11:00 am Senior Fit class only to discover that there was no microphone for the instructor to use. Two weeks ago, on a Tues., I went to the 9:00 am Aqua Fit class only to discover that the pool was closed for maintenance - with no previous notification to the members. One of the Aqua Fit instructors resigned due to poor management. My assumption is that, as with many buisnesses, LA Fitness has cut back on management positions; However, I am paying for classes and services that I am not receiving. I use the facility 5 days a week but if this continues, I will seek another fitness facility.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
i am upset with the LA Fitness in Altamonte Springs. I went on the internet and printed out a 10 day pass. When I went in the club they took my pass and emailed me a new pass. Later I noticed that pass expired in 6 days instead of 10 days. I called to ask if that would be a problem, they said someone would call me back. 2 1/2 hours later I called again, the person that spoke with me said if it says it expired then its expired. I had really wanted to join this fitness center since I have friends that go there. I won't be joining now. I also didn't care for Cory Sheffield he was the person who sent me the guest pass with the wrong date on it. I don't think he thought he could make a mistake.
unprofessional and rude staff
Since I began working out at LA Fitness over a week ago, I have been appalled by the lack of professionalism at the Michigan Rd & Conway Rd location.
It is a pity, because the facility itself is wonderful and fully equipped. Yet the staff are rude and lack professionalism.
Several times over many days LA Fitness staff at the Michigan and Conway Rd location have been dribbling a basketball through the workout area (both the carpeted floor with the weight machines and on the concrete floor in the free weight area - annoying and aggravating gym members).
Nevertheless the young men carry on happily as if the health club were for their personal enjoyment and continually disregard the guests.
Tonight when working out in the evening four LA Fitness staff (three black men and one tall white guy with a gotee) were working out and playing around in the free weight area and loudly dribbling their basketball.
Instead of racking weights and making themselves useful as is the norm at most health clubs, LA Fitness staff at Conway and Michigan linger around to chat with the girls, play among themselves and have fun.
Another example of behavior greatly lacking professionalism is as the time approached 10pm on Saturday, the white guy got on the microphone with a rough voice and said, "The gym's closed in 10 minutes." As soon as it was 10pm, another black employee got on the microphone and said, "Leave! Get out!"
A third sign of disrespect and behavior lacking professionalism is the manner in which the cleaning staff tidy up the bathrooms and mop the floors.
The cleaning guy (who appears to be Indian or Pakistani, around 50 years old or so) smells heavily with tobacco smoke - so much so I wonder if he even washes his clothes.
Even worse the floors get mopped well before closing time and are slick with no warning signs for members walking through to use the bathrooms. To the gym's credit the floors and bathrooms are cleaned seemingly well, but a bit slippery to walk upon without warning of them being wet.
Another complaint at LA Fitness is (unlike other health clubs) guests rarely bring towels and after using the equipment rarely bother bother to ever wipe them down with a paper towel afterward. This unsanitary manner makes the health club a breeding ground for infection and disease.
On May the 6th, one employee walking around on the gym floor (between 9pm to 10pm) lacked knowledge about the equipment and its whereabouts when two ladies needed help finding a missing hook to use the chest and shoulder machine.
Since many of the staff lack class and professionalism, so too have I experienced the same with a few of the members at the LA Fitness on Michigan & Curry Ford.
One evening a black gentleman talked on his mobile phone while using a cardio machine. He chatted on his phone loudly for a half an hour while other members painfully exercised around him and endured his disrespectful, self-centered behavior.
Tonight another guy (black) working out at the gym had his mobile phone playing music, although the LA Fitness music was already playing on the loud speaker.
I know by now those reading will think this guy is racist because I mentioned the ethnicity of the fellows acting disrespectfully. Not true. I voted for President Obama and befriend many black people in America, Africa, Haiti and elsewhere in the world where I have lived and traveled. I also have black friends in the United States.
In fact I have traveled to many war-torn nations throughout Africa on five separate trips, the first of which I slept in a tent for two of the three months I was there in the "bush" villages where there was no electricity and sometimes I was the first white man ever to be seen there.
So the argument that "He is racist doesn't fly." The fact is LA Fitness employees at Michigan and Conway need to be instructed in social grace, manners and professionalism.
As for the Pakistani or Indian looking gentleman responsible for cleaning, he seems polite and professional. He just smells a bit smokey to be working in a health club, but hey, pray for him maybe he will grasp the importance of good health as a result of working there. Nevertheless walking by him is pretty toxic to smell and breathe in the third-hand smoke on his body.
Oh yeah, I've been to India 5 times (lived there nearly a year) and have been to Pakistan twice ...so the racist argument doesn't work.
I only mentioned the ethnicity of the employees to help LA corporate management identify those needing some further training.
The LA Fitness female staff are kind and respectful, although many look spaced out mentally in their own world behind the front desk when I enter the health club. They don't greet guests happily with a smile upon arrival and half-heartedly do so when guests take the initiative to greet them.
Certainly this is not the norm for all LA Fitness clubs. The LA Fitness staff at other locations such as Colonial Drive (Orlando) are more proactive and professional.
The LA Fitness at Conway & Michigan for example on May 6th during the evening had used paper towels laying on the carpeted gym floor, which no employees who repeatedly walked by them ever bothered to pick up.
Again another sign the staff at LA Fitness at Conway & Michigan see the gym as their personal playground for their use and pleasure, rather than a place to professionally conduct business with integrity and represent a reputable company.
So to summarize, LA Fitnes at Conway & Michigan have:
1. Staff who are not friendly, not courteous and not professional.
2. Staff who are rude and disinterested in cleaning their own facility.
3. Staff who lack knowledge about their own gym equipment.
Hopefully LA Fitness corporate management and the Central Florida district manager can attend to these matters speedily to sustain the integrity of the company.
I like the LA Fitness facility, but the staff is definitely in need of professionalism and proper training in social etiquette and manners.
Probably the most professional of the staff at LA Fitness are the sales reps who work during the day, although about six months ago a heavy set latina sales rep was a bit rude when I discussed pricing with her compared to other health clubs in town.
Again the facility at LA Fitness on Conway & Michigan is relatively good. It's just the staff that one should be forewarned of and the annoyances mentioned above in my complaint.
its all the same crap at la fit here in portland oregon on 82nd ave
it's all the same thing at the la fitness on 82nd ave here in portland oregon.
don't let them scam you on membership cancellation!
I was able to cancel my month-to-month membership immediately!
They told me I'd have to get a form from the club or print it out from their website and mail it in. (Apparently, this is in the original contract when you sign up!) I told them that that wasn't acceptable, since my next billing was going to be in 5 days.
I tried calling the 800-number but the member services option didn't work.
So I went to the club and the manager dialed someone from the phone on the reception desk. Great move, since anyone coming in could hear what I said.
I asked the representative to tell me what number I could call in the future for member services - she wouldn't!
After I refused the snail mail option (how can they sign me up immediately but cancel my membership only by snail mail?), she told me that she could process the cancellation over the phone, but that it would take 5 days, and since today was the 23rd and my next billing was the 28th ... wait for it ... I would have to pay another month! I told her I'd tell my credit card company to reject any future charges from them.
Finally, she told me to talk to "Brian" at the gym, who would cancel my membership. Who's he? The guy sitting at the other end of the reception desk. Would she need to talk to him to let him know? He's been listening to the call the whole time! Creepy! That would explain why she kept saying "Yes" and "OK" on the phone and have long pauses, but not in response to me.
So he cancels my membership, effective immediately, as easy as pie, and sends me an e-mail confirmation on the spot.
Oh, and the gym? There are no towels, the classes were often overfilled, I often had to wait for equipment, and one of the trainers kept bothering me and others in the middle of our workouts to sign up with him for a free training session. And half of their free training session is a sales pitch. Ugh!
I am also having trouble cancelling the membership for my son and his girlfriend who are no longer in this country as he had to travel to China for his job. This company wants the flight details, address where they are ! however, what i find more important is that after having a shower after workout in the gym, it was as though he was burnt from top to bottom. The emergency dept said he had an adverse reaction to the chemicals they use in the water! "2 weeks of work and now they have sent debt collection agency to try to claim over £700 where they got that figure from unbelievable and again no joy on the phone. I am now going to set up camp outside and leaflet people going in and out to warn them of this membership scam
rude front desk with harassing closing announcements
The club has the poorest customer service of any place i have ever been. The front desk has the attitude that they are doing you a favor by being there. Every week night evening as early as 8:45 they announce the time and the time they are closing and instruct the members to plan their workouts accordingly. They do this no less than 4 times an hour and every 5 minutes near closing. There is one particular woman named Tamara who is obnoxious. She commenced with the usual harassment and announced at 9:45 9:50 and there after every 5 minutes and at 10:02 she proceeded to announce at top volume " the club is closed closed closed lease the club leave" repeating herself in a continuous loop until as i was walking by i asked her if she knew how annoying that was. She then replied " I don't care. I don't get paid for the extra 5 minutes so you can walk out slowly" I replied " but you know your ruining the last 5 minutes of every ones day" she said " I don't care you need to leave it is 10:05 and the gym closed at 10" after which i tried to reply but she continued to yell at me till i asked her name. I then said thank-you and left. Keep in mind there were no less than 15 people still in the gym.
The night before they blared a high pitched whining noise over the speakers every couple of minutes..
You come to the gym to release tension these employees are human beings with lives just like you. If they don’t get paid after a certain time you should respect that. As a former employee I’ve had to stay as late as 11:30 because people refused to get out of the gym. Respect other people’s time and they will respect you.
Well why are you there after 10 p.m when you know the gym closes at 10 p.m the workers wanna go home to their loved ones too so have some respect for their private life. You would be pissed too if you had to spend 20 mins everyday after your shift is over telling GROWN men and women to leave the gym when they all know what time the gym closes and not get paid for the extra time walking around playing hide and seek with inconsiderate people who dont care how long someone stays after their shift.
I agree. The front desk staff is the worst I have seen in years. After I get off from a long day at work I want to come to the gym to unleash tension. Not have a front desk staff give me attitude. I go to the La Fitness in Pasadena, Md & Amanda N. is the most diabolitical, duck face, ignorant human being I have ever had to deal with. I love the Latin Heat class with Sharon R. who is fabulous! but because of the poor customer service I always encounter from Amanda N., I will not be coming back to this location. There are plenty of La Fitness gyms that are opening up in Maryland that I don't have to deal with a imp like Amanda N.
illegal behavior
In this are my reasons for canceling with LA Fitness that I feel you need to be informed about. It is a real horror story that I fear will happen to more members presenting LA Fitness with trouble and a major lost in trust for the company. In October 2009 Both I and my fiancé wanted to join LA Fitness at the monthly membership fee of $30.00 a month. After much thought and consideration we decided to go in to sign up. We were nicely shown the premises by a staff member and found the facilities satisfactory.
Then we were quickly sat down at a table and talked to about the membership. We flatly said we just wanted a regular monthly membership nothing more. Then we were asked our goals for getting in to shape. I said my plan was to actually try to put on weight and mussel bulk because I have a very lean and tall frame . My fiancé just wanted to tone up nothing drastic. We were then quickly made to feel that there was a lot wrong with our bodies so our self esteem would be lowered. The membership process quickly turned into a negotiation that we should sign up for personal trainers. Before we could say anything another man sat down who was The training general manager (if you would like his name I would feel free to tell you)and started estimating monthly payments for personal trainers. We were baffled at how astronomical the prices were and quickly said no .He continued to say that our work outs and goals would be worthless without help from a trainer.
Since I was pretty serious about reaching my goal for an ideal body I finally let my guard down and became more interested. He made lots of promises that I would be so satisfied with my body that any price would be worth it. I was still very hesitant about the price and wanted to leave .He then wrote down and showed me that he could give me an “amazing” offer but only if I took it right away. I still basically said no thank you. Then he said what is it because you do not have the enough money ? I dumbly said with out thinking, Yeah I have money I’m waiting for a huge check actually. His eyes then turned to dollar signs I was just too naive to notice it at the time. He then offered me another deal and after much sweet talking I agreed to think about it. Since I hadn’t received my check yet it would have to be a couple days till I signed up for a trainer anyway. But then I received calls on my cell phone from the training general manager bluntly asking if I had received my check yet… because he would get in trouble from his boss for the “great” deal he was going to give me. He said I could pay a portion of the down payment right away so I could still get the deal that way he wouldn’t get in trouble. If this happened to me now I would say why the heck is it any of your business when I get my check. At the time though I didn’t want the guy to get in trouble because of me. So I went in and paid a portion of the down payment. While I was there I was then again asked if I had received my check or when I would. The calls also persisted until the day I actually did get my check and finished the down payment for the personal training sessions.
I was then rushed through the contract, he barley even let me touch the thing and just read what he thought was important . Also I found out that he only explained half of the truth about the cancellation and that the contract is very poorly written. I found this out when for some reason I received a call from a woman with LA Fitness 3 days later asking if I understood the terms of the contract and if I knew that I would have to pay 50% of the remaining balance to get out of it(50% of balance = a couple grand). I said no actually I did not know that, but that’s just great you tell me when I already signed.
Everything was down hill after that …I had training sessions canceled by the trainer even though they were made prior according to my busy schedule. The trainers were to lazy to bother to write down my work out routine in my issued La Fitness trainers notebook for my reference as well for the other trainers .Every time I went to a session I was handed off to a different trainer who had no prior knowledge of my fitness routines or goals. When I wanted to stay with one certain trainer they would try to plan the sessions for when was convenient for them not me. I was also told very many things by many different trainers about how long it take me to gain the mussel weight every thing from 3 months to a year. I was ignored on the parts of the body I wanted to work out. I also feel I was told to do work outs that would purposefully make my goal take longer so I would need the training longer. My favorite thing that happened was that guy who was so persistent in keeping track on me for when I got my check forgot to schedule me for a session I made with him prior… he was just to lazy to remember to write me in. When I told other people who belonged to other gyms how much I was paying they laughed. I was seriously paying half of my income and I never saw much result I was becoming more tone but not gaining bulk which was the whole point .I became so depressed and broke in fact I stopped going to the gym all together even though I was paying tons of money just because I resented it so much. It truly was one of the worst decisions of my life even though it should have been one of the best. The people knew they were taking advantage of a young couple because they thought we were gullible not because they actually wanted to help us in any way. I take responsibility for the decision I made and I had to pay for that decision by throwing thousands of dollars away for nothing .I hope LA Fitness cleans up there act before someone takes action a lot harder then me and it’s just a matter of time before someone does.

The LA fitness in riverside ca on Arlington favors Hispanics and if you complain about policies being broken by other members...they do nothing. I INFORMED 2 PEOPLE THAT YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO WEAR STREET CLOTHES IN THE POOL AND ALSO CHILDREN ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE IN POOL. I SAID IT IN SPANISH AND ENGLISH AND POLITELY TOLD THE MEMBERS I LET MANAGEMENT KNOW SO THEY WOULD BE AWARE I COMPLAINED. MANAGEMENT BREAKS THE RULES FOR SOME...BUT MOST PAY N MEET THE RULES TO BE GOOD STANDING MEMBERS. THE HISPANIC MANAGER BASICALLY SAID I WAS HARASSING THEM...BUT THEY NEVER DID THEIR JOB. I AM POLITE N UNDERDTAND DIFFERENT LANGUAGES' ANF I FOLLOW THE RULES AND I AM FAIR TO OTHER MEMBERS. I WITNESSED 5 CAUCASIAN MEMBERS NOT COMPLETE THEIR WOROUT IN YHE POOL BECAUSE 2 UNDERAGE KIDS WERE PLAYING IN TJE EORKOUT LANES. LOVE KIDS...THEY TURNED MY COMPLAINT INTO LIES AND PEOPLE ARE AFRAID TO COMPLAIN BECAUSE DISCRIMINATION...SEEMS LIKE DISCRIMINATION IS TOWARDS CAUCASIAN OR MAYBE CORPORATE RULES SHOULD BE CHANGED TO SAY...WE WANT YOUR MONEY AND RULES DO MOT MATTER AND IF YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT OUR POLICIES'...TOO BAD 🙅 WE LET OUR EMPLOYEES BREAK THE RULES AND YOUR HARASSING OTHERS... CAUSE WE DO NOT CARE...HMMMM I CSLLED THE LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT TO WATCH ME TO MY 🚗 AFTER ALL BEING A LEGAL ENGLISH SPEAKING CITIZEN IS NOE ILLEGAL...LAW SUIT...ANYONE WANT TO JOIN IN...CALL ME [protected]
I was asked the same question: "You don't have anough money?" at the gym here in Bristol, Connecticut when I told him I wanted to think about it. It must be part of their sale's pitch. I thought it was RUDE! I am on social security disability and I have to think hard before spending my money.
I hope they change their sale's tactics soon!
training
I have tried and tried to enjoy my training experience but each time I train I can't function normally for 3-5 days afterwards. I have told them and switched trainers but that doesn't help. They say age doesn't matter, I am 51. I guess I am hardheaded will do exactly what they make me do and even fell a couple of times just to hear, "keep going" your doing great! Well the last time I couldn't walk right for 4 days, now once again I don't want to go near the gym. They won't let me out of the contract and wont take it easier on me... So what should I do other than closing my bank account?
abusive service
I absolutely hate this personal trainer at the LA Fitness at the Pasadena, CA location. He is rude and he needs to realize that he is there to service the customer, not his inflated ego. Here's my story.
So I start doing Deadlift's. When I get to 175 pounds, everything is going great and I start to lose my grip in my right hand on my third rep, as I'm going down. I have a physical deformity on my right middle finger that really *** up my grip. I feel my back start to round out and instead of risk hurting myself, I let the weights go.
Low and behold, right after I dropped the weight, this *** [censored] bag personal trainer comes up to me and starts to chastise me on how "This isn't that kind of gym and if you can't handle the weight then you should be doing lower weight"
I politely start to tell him that my grip is already bad to start off because of my finger and I that I didn't want to hurt my back because I felt it start to round. He proceeded to repeat his earlier statement, "This isn't that type of gym, you just can't throw your weights, if you want to do that you can do that elsewhere"
I was so shocked by the customer service I was receiving I didn't know what to say. After the fact I know exactly what I should have told him and what I told to the manager of the store and to the district manager.
So this isn't the type of gym where the customer's well being is valued over the dropping of the equipment? Or is this the type of gym where I'm not allowed to lift heavy weights because of a physical deformity in my finger that I have no control over? Or is this the type of gym that only guys that are 6 foot 2 and over 200 pounds can do heavy lifts because they can "handle" it.
The worst thing about it is that right after some [censored] bags doing dumbbell bench presses (They weren't even doing them right...) dropped their dumbbells on the ground and he had nothing to say to them.
It really made me feel that just because I have a physical deformity and a thin frame that I have no place being in his gym
He walks around the gym like he's the big man on in the gym, but he's just a *** personal trainer. DON'T SUPPORT THE PERSONAL TRAINERS AT THIS LOCATION.

This is a comment for Nilesh Tiwari.
So let me get this straight, you injured yourself and then didn't go to the gym, and then you expected the gym to credit you because you didn't go?
That sounds a little foolish to me.
Perhaps if you had a doctor's note they could of done something, but if they just credited you without one, everyone would take advantage of them.
I joint LA Fitness in june'2011 at Keller, Texas location. After 2 weeks I injured my ankled and couldn't go to the gym for 2 weeks. Once I started feeling better, I went and asked for 2 weeks credit. the member service manager, Jack L., refused to give me any credit. So I asked him to when did my membership expired. He said tomorrow i.e. july' 27th. He lied to me. My membership was expiring in on Sept.' 27th. I asked him to reimburse my money for the remaining months as he was cancelling my membership. He said I can't give you the money and I can't give you the access to gym as you already said you want to cancel your membership. Basically, LA Fitness took away my money and didn't let me work out. This is stealing and I really want the head quarter office to take some action on this guy who was not only rude but arrogant and provided a disgusting customer service.
horrible to work for
I'm currently a sales counselor for la fitness and i am sad to say its a bad thing.I feel good about helping these people sign up for a gym that will help change there lives but at the same time I know that are sales are complete bull crap. They change the prices every month so I constantly have members come in to me and say why does my friend have 19, 99 a month and I have 44.44 when we both paid 50 enrollment, It makes me look deceiving and untruthful.I'm a genuine person and take interest in these members health but the la fintness system slaps me in the face. When a walk-in comes in to inquire about a member ship they make us follow direct steps which im ok with, First we do a fitness analysis which is like a fitness interview then show them around the club and talk prices after that and not every body wants to buy memberships after they see the sky rocket enrollment fees that are bull ###.If we don't close are walk ins and sell them we get chewed out by are manager who also has his balls being held by the regional manager. He asks us why didn't they buy what was the objection(I'm like bro this guy wants to try the club for 3 days and then sign up) You see i have no problem with that because I like to try things before investing money in them, But are manger wants to hit club goals so we are forced to sucker people out of every penny possible. We are forced to stand at walmart and hand out passes and we usually get kicked out by store management because we arnt a non profit organization. Also are managers make us call all of are leads over and over until they finally come in just so you will stop calling them.We get paid dirt 8.55 an hour unless you sell 31 ships or more every 14 days which is tough to do every month. So your looking at 45 hours a week for minimum wage. With all the ### you put up with your virtually getting paid nothing. They make you cross promote all over town with your own car and don't even pay for your gas.Managers are blood suckers just out for there bonuses and getting there cash.My general manager is a [censored] bag! Before I ever worked there I came in to by a membership and he pressured me so bad I didn't go back for months I was just 17 working part time at the movies and finishing up school and he tried to sell me a 240 enrollment 44.44 a month.I told him to suck on it and left because he wouldn't give me a guest pass to even try the club.Bottom line don't join! Don't work there...they say you can cancel your membership at any time but that's bs! It takes 60-90 days at least after you tell them you want to quit for them to stop billing you.I had to deal with much of this and I felt bad it was against my morals!

they dont lets me get in cus i pass 1 day on pay.. not good that dont talk good about the gym .
it is unfortunate that management at LA Fitness only cares about themselves. They use their employees like slave labor and especially with the way the economy they know they can do and say whatever they want. If you have children too bad that is what my boss said, told me I had to figure out how to pick up my child. Because he knows I need the job. As for benefits, they don't care, you are hourly/salary. They pay you however they would like. I get NO vacation time and I have been with them 4 plus YEARS and no Dental either; but if I was an OM/GM.
I can't believe the State Government is not all over them. I really like my job as you can tell since I have stayed around for 4 plus YEARS.
personal training staff
I had been putting off my "free fitness assessment" since i signed up for my membership 3 months ago because I knew it would just be a scam to make me sign up for personal training sessions. However, when i was working out on my own a week ago a trainer approached me and told me i was doing it all wrong and told me to skip my spin class because he'd give me an even better workout.
So i said, okay whatever. Well I skipped my spin class and waited for 20 mins for him. He told me to go do a 5-6 mins warmup on the bike and 20 mins later he yelled up to me from downstairs. Seriously? he couldn't come talk to me like a human being? So I go down and im not sure why i even warmed up because then we just sat down at a desk for an hour.
After telling me awful things about myself, and making my weight situation so much worse than it actually is and telling me that i'm in the bottom 1% of the population (even though i work out 5-6 days a week). He did a quick weight training workout with me. While that part was good and valuable then it got down to the selling time.
When i told him i'm a full time student and i couldnt afford training sessions at this time, he suggested my boyfriend or parents pay for my sessions. I'm an adult, I can't believe he would suggest that i convince someone else to pay for my overpriced sessions. They charge up to $60/HALF HOUR! After I cried for an hour about how awful he made me feel about myself I realized it was not even worth being upset over. He was suggesting that I needed to get to 15-17% body fat, and when I came home and researched I found that women are supposed to be between 20-25%. He was doing anything he could to lower my self esteem to get me to pay for training. NO WAY! i'm half tempted to switch to 24 hour since its just as close with better hours.

That is AWEFUL! Everyone BOYCOTT LA FITNESS FOREVER!
poor etiquette in dealing with an injury
I was working out at the gym that I have been to many times before. I went to the standing calf machine and as I put my hand to reach for the weight pin a 15 pound weight (which later I realized had been stuck up on top came crashing down pin my hand causing it to swell up and bleed. I asked for immediate help from a trainer who nonchalantly directed me to the front desk. As I walked up to the front desk girl I asked her for help and then I started to feel faint from the pain so I tried to go to the nearest chair and before I knew it I had stumbled and run into the side wall.
A fellow gym, member came to see what had happened and prompted an LA fitness employee to help and call 911. I was given ice water to drink and eventually an ice pack. My fiancé was called and he came immediately. It took 2 hours to fill out an incident report. They tried to say that nothing was wrong with the equipment and then the incident was "suspicious" as if to say I was at fault and deliberately hurt my self.
My fiancé then called for a manger that refused to even apologize for what happened maintaining that I should have been paying better attention to the equipment. I assured them that I was not looking for any trouble or payout-simply some human decency and sense of customer service. I finally got up to say something and explain he situation, and Shawn, the manger who was incredibly rude, kept arguing with me about the incident. LA fitness should be embarrassed to have these employees. I am a long standing member and deserve to be treated with some respect.
I was absolutely flabbergasted at the whole thing.

rude manager and weird club joining policy
I went to LA fitness to use their 2 week trial pass. Told them that I was planning on changing clubs from Life time to LA and would like to try LA for 2 weeks before cancelling my Lifetime membership. The manager rudely tells me that they can't accept other club members. I immediately walked out from the club. I have never heard of someone telling me that I can't be a member at 2 clubs simultaneously.

I completely Agree - the HOLMDEL NJ center has horrible managers. They dont care one bit about you once you join. The first major turn off is the scam orinentation which is really a push to get you to use a personal trainer. If you dont use a personal trainer there is NO ONE willing to help you. Ur lost in this vast sea of equiptment, there is no strategy to how the machines are set up -- no book or guidline to follow - ur lost they they like that so u feel the need to use a personal trainer...they have 8 people that just sit on their a s s at their desks doing nothing for the most part while people are out there...HERE IS AN IDEA FOR THE CORPORATE ###S. GIVE THE MEMBERS A BOOK TO FOLLOW, NUMBER THE MACHINES TO IDENTIFY WHAT U SHOULD OR COULD DO... and get rid of all the people in this place they do NOTHING.
Very rude operations manager in Holmdel Nj, His name is Mike and if it was a way to report him directly to the company, I will do it, but I think the company knows what kind of people they hire because there is no way to cimmunicate with them, ven if they are right they dont have to treat you like they are nobody, being an operations manager for the club I will think they have more education and respect, at the end I can only say LA fitness is like any other "sales " association where their employees work on commision so they would promess anything to make su sign and after that they simply dont care, somebody should investigate their business because I didnt expect so many complaints, and while I was there waiting I saw another customer being treated nasty. To LA FITNESS a big hands down.
refuse to refund
My wife purchased me a membership and personal training sessions at LA Fitness in Denton, Texas on December 7th, 2010. At that time she was charged as follows:
*$146.12 for initial membership fee
*$222 for personal training set up and first month
She was then billed for these additional sums:
*$32.46 on January 5th, 2010 for another month of membership fees.
On January 14th, 2010 I visited the LA Fitness in Denton for my first trainer session which was to include a fitness assessment. When I arrived for my appointment the trainer was sleeping. I woke him up at his desk and he took me over to begin working out on weights. I asked him for a tour since I had never been to the facility. He took me on a tour. He did not know the locker policy for the facility. He then took me over to do some free weights. I told him that I should receive a fitness assessment first. He said he could not do the assessment, and that the proper trainer to do it was not there. He then said I needed a trainer booklet, but could not locate one to give me. He said, "That's corporate fitness for you. Corporate fitness ***." I asked what he meant by that. He stated, "LA Fitness fired me from the Lewisville store. The Denton facility was opened too early and we don't even have a scale to weigh you on for the assessment, or the booklet you are supposed to receive." He then was given permission to give me thefitness assessment on my next visit, even though he stated that he was not officially allowed to administer assessments. When I arrived home, I contacted his supervisors and spoke with them about getting a refund as I did not feel comfortable patronizingLA Fitness in Denton after this experience. My wife spoke with 'Angela' and 'Issac, ' both fitness trainer supervisors. Both indicated that they would not refund any money.
*$172.00 on January 19th, 2010 we were billed for another month of trainer fees.
*$32.46 on March 1st, 2010 when my wife received threatening phone calls requesting that we pay for another month of membership or we would be have 'credit problems.' My wife stated, again, that she wanted the membership cancelled and our money refunded.LA Fitness refuses to refund ANY moneys.

I lost my job, every other company I deal with made concessions except for LA Worthless (what makes them so special?). I go to the Vista, CA gym. The people are good and have knowledge of what they are doing. It is the management that are cold hearted [censor] and [censor]es. They are willing to put a freeze on the account, great - Thank you very much! What happens after if I am still not working. If they treated their customers fairly from the start, I am sure they would have a higher rate of return. I know if they had let me out of my PT contract. When times got better, I would have gone back, not now.
liars
I Signed up for this gym specifically because I wanted to use the racquetball court. I also wanted to bring my brother there every couple weeks or so to play. When I signed up I Stressed this to the sales guy several times. I asked the sales guy several times about the process of reserving a court and he said whenever you need to reserve a court, just call in 24 hours ahead of time and you can reserve it no problem. I asked him SPECIFICLY ! if it would cost me any extra to reserve the court, or to bring a guest to play racquetball.
I was told, anyone can reserve the courts and you get alot of guest passes, and when I run out of guest passes he will give me more..
Turns out the first time I tried to reserve a court, they told me I don't have a racquetball by my name in the system, and that I would have to pay extra each month to be able to reserve courts... So we showed up with no reservation and when we tried to use the guest pass, they tried to take down all his information and were trying to get him to sign up for a membership! He lives 1 hour away! After they took all his information etc, they told us that the racquetball courts can't be used when you are using the guest pass! I am so pissed.. I asked to talk to the guy who signed me up and they said he now works at a different location.. What a bunch of scammers. They will tell you anything to get you to sign up, but then no one is held accountable for what they said when you join. They don't have a customer email address you can send complaints to and their customer service desk is closed on the weekend.. I checked on their web site and it specificly says that you are allowed to use all the facilities with the guest pass..
This company is a freaking joke...
Also, each guest can only come once every 6 months... So if you have a guest that you want to take once every month or so, not gonna happen...
