staff professionalism and competence
I have been a member at L.A. Fitness Orlando on Goldenrod for a year and a half. My regular workout time is 5:00 am, since joining my husband became a member and just recently my nephew who is on the fast track to becoming a D-1 College basketball player.
My problem is that every morning the weights are scattered everywhere in the gym which clearly means that the night staff did not do their part in organizing the gym before closing. This is not only dangerous its also an insult to paying members that has the right to expect to work out in a safe environment. In addition to that my nephew that comes for the main purpose of practicing his shots before school is blocked from doing so for the mere fact that the custodian decides to wait until 5:30 am util 8:00 to mop the floors of the court, the gym hours are from 5:00 am -11:00pm which mean I should have use of the facilities during these hours. I understand she has to clean but this should be done after hours not interfering with paying clientele use of the facilities.
Last issue is the sauna, there should be a sign banning nudity in the sauna it makes others uncomfortable, there is no way anyone should be exposed to a naked body while sitting in the sauna, this is unfair and unacceptable. We all love the gym because of convenience and equipment but more consideration should be given to members.

Very poor serves in general, I have been a member for some time at la fitness, the level of attention and cleanliness attained at irving facility is appalling, the men's locker and bathroom smells badly and in sauna you are allowing the patrons (Mostly western indians) to dry there clothes on the heating unit. Additionally the approach of sales by this team is very questionable!

I was at the LA fitness in Secaucus NJ. There employees stolen everything of value from my bag. They stole medicine, shoes, and a dead friends dog tag who was killed in Afghanistan. A district manager basically just called me and told me the only way they will only replace half of what was stolen. She was rude and unprofessional. Beginning the week of August 14th 2017 there was a sign outside of the women's locker room "men at work" the sign was planted there permanently all day and all night for the past 2 weeks regardless if men were working in the locker room or not which gave the male cleaning and maintenance men a good excuse to go in whenever they wanted to. The male cleaning man would come into the locker room to clean regardless if we women were in the shower, dressing in the locker room or just plain naked. On Thursday 8/17, He walked in while I was naked and just looked at me. I covered up and he emptied the trash whistling and humming a song. like everything was normal. I got ready for work and left. I figured it was just an isolated incident until I spoke to other women who went thru the same experience yet, they called the Manager Jessica to complain and she said the problem would be taken cared of. Nothing has changed. He walked in while the 3 of us were in the shower this morning. I am calling the police but wanted to make a formal complaint with you as well.

About two months ago I applied and gotten a offer to become a employee. On the day of the interview the I was told I would be paid for training. The session was scheduled from 3:30pm-6:30pm. This LA Fitness located in Springfield, VA. The service member that conducted this, I believe his name is Michael, he's a African American male with dreds. I have been in contact with him twice since that day with him telling me that the training check will be mailed out. Two months and haven't received anything. Any solutions?

Hello, My name is Melly Ruiz. So I had an issue a couple days ago regarding my gym membership. I called on July 21st, 2017 to the LA Fitness in Columbus, Ohio (Address) 1800 Tanglewood Park Blvd, Hilliard Oh, 43026 (Phone #) [protected] to cancel my membership because I am going out of the country. I spoke to a hound lady name Caitlyn ( not the operations manager) and I told her I was going out of the country and that i would like to give her a diffrent credit card number to submit my payment for the month of July because I no longer have a bank account with the card they usually take my payment out of and she said it would be fine you guy's would not charge me because the payment comes out the initial fee or something like that. I cancel the membership for both my mom and I, she send me a confirmation email and I was pretty content. The young lady was super nice and has excellent customer service... so days later, I get an email that you guys are trying to charge my card for the payment of July. I Called Customer Service in Hilliard since that's where I called to make the cancellation for the membership. A guy name Nate answered the phone and took my message down for the operations Manager Caitlyn because she was busy at the time and I waited. I waited a week and I never got a called back. I understand managers get there hands full so okay no problem. I called on Monday, July 21st, 2017 and the same guy Nate answered me again. He ask me what was the problem I explain my concern for the 5 th time and he just kept on cutting me off which I didn't like. He told me that normally LA Fitness doesn't do cancellations over the phone and that the young lady was probably just trying to do me a favor, so I told him that I understood nobody is perfect, everyone makes mistakes and that, that really wasn't my fault because that why i ask the employee if she was sure i wouldn't have to pay anything and plus i would expect the employees to know their company's police. Then Nate in a rude way argue back with me and told me it was my problem because I had an issue and I wasn't resolving it. So of course I tried to talk to him and he quickly cut me off and transferred me. I don't appreciate this rude behavior, that is un acceptable and he is not the first person that he is rude to. My friend Carlos Rodriguez also cancelled his membership with his wife because of this poor customer service. He is clearly not qualified nor is understanding and has the patience of a customer service person. On the other hand I got to speak with the operations manager Caitlyn Mesh ( Hilliard location) and was very nice, very understanding, she took care of my problem. You NEED more employees like her that actually care about your customers and and have great customer service, not like the [censor] Nate employee that answered me and is rude. I have been a member for more than ten years now and I have not had a bad experience with LA Fitness until today. After I checked in today (around 5:30 pm the usual time I go in after work), I was walking toward the women's locker room when I saw a woman with long black hair screaming at me as she was walking out. At first, I thought she was yelling at someone and I looked around and there was no one. It turned out I was in fact whom she was trying to yell at. Exhausted and tired from my day, I stopped to try to see what was going on. As I stopped, I saw her screaming at me from about 12 feet away that "you need to check in or else I'm going to write you up. You can't be doing this anymore...This is your last warning." I looked at her quizzically thinking, I have always checked in. I am not sure what you mean. I walk away but she gave me the dirtiest look and glare. Later, I found out she was the operations manager and I asked the front desk person to write her name down for me: Diana Garcia.
Today 's date is July 28, 2017. I have never in my ten years of being with LA fitness encountered such outrageously rude behavior. Unless I get a formal apology from someone I will cancel my membership.
I believe the club has cameras. All they need to do is watch the video and watch her behavior as she was leaving the club and I had just checked in and entered. I did not join LA Fitness to be openly humiliated like I did today. I feel sorry for her that she had a bad day and had to take it out on my on her way out. I will cancel my membership until I have some kind of formal apologies.

I went to the LA fitness on 13 mile and Mound rd. I thought this would be good for some of my injury I have and especially my back pain? After going in a talking to a sales person I thought to my understanding I would pay one time for traing and this is all I needed but later to understand this is for very month I will be charges I think the salesperson knew I don't speak english very well and took advantage that I ddn't understand him ? This is a very unhealthy unethical way to treat customers and to rush into a contract which I didn't get the logistics of the whole thing he smoothly and quickly had me to sign and give bank information? I just had a severe injury and my doctor have written a note for me to give to LA fitness due to my severe injury it's no way I can work out for a whole year and I only need therapy not physical training? Why take advantage of a person due to their language barrier just for a commission is just not fair to the customers like myself. I'm requesting help with cancelling my account without any further payments I feel I've already paid enough $299 and haven't been but one day and that's when I was cohersed with the sign up illegal process with the quick talking salesman? Please help this is not affordable to me.

We moved from Williamsville NY to TX. The closest LA Fitness it is in San Antonio TX. 50 miles away from my new address .My husband cancelled his membership in person . I had to cancel on line. I have all my office on boxes so I did not have my contract in hand nor my membership bar code to create an account on line, so I called the Williamsville NY Unit to get assistance. Courtney Tedesco is the manager in charge, provided my bar code and when I tried to create an account it was rejected. I called again and was transferred for two other persons. I wanted to know why I could not create an account on line and wanted to talk to Courtney again. the last person put me on hold for 20 minutes.. While on hold I called Courtney with my other line and guess what? She was available!
Very UNPROFESSIONAL ! It ended up that someone had typed the last number of my zip code wrong... A good company have good costumer services from the beginning of a business to the conclusion... To put someone on hold in a phone call so the person would give it up, was the lowest I been treated by a company...

I've been receiving back to back calls to try out the Brooklyn Park LA Fitness. So I arrived there today July, 19th wasting my gas to be turned around at the door RUDELY by Miguel Deleon he stated that he's done with guest passes & we couldn't come in for free because the gym was too full yesterday ( which had nothing to do with us ), then he looked at my little brother & asked him why is he so serious looking. This is a lawsuit in the making for false advertisement online & harassment I have everything recorded on camera. He stated that he had already stopped guest passes but has NOTHING posted online or in the building.

On sunday, july 2, 2017, my daughter and I stopped into this beautiful new facility to just try and get some general information as I was seriously considering joining the club for myself and my 2 daughters. It was not my intent to actually join, but the assistant manager/sales person named andrew was so nice and helpful that he convinced me to join that day. While signing up, he introduced me to the lead personal trainer person and then another person named daniel, who andrew explained would be the person to provide me with an orientation and he scheduled an appointment for today, july 4, 2017.
Excited about getting started on a new health journey, my daughter and I went in at the scheduled time and asked for daniel. He took us to a seating area and had up fill out information regarding our health and goals we would like to set. We talked and he was very nice and personable. After assessing our goals, he took us over to what I now know as the personal training area and started having us do some exercises such as squats, pushups, crunches, planks, etc. I was extremely tired from all of this as I was not expecting to come and actually work out today. I was under the impression that daniel was going to give me a tour of the facility and show me how to use the machines. That never happened. After this workout, he took us to another desk and after some ongoing talking, fast taking and bullsh*%#$, daniel sprung these prices for a personal trainer on me! I'm now confused and very disappointed because I did not go in there today planning to come up off of any more money. We went back and forth for a few minutes and I even expressed my disappointment to him and asked when could I get the tour and for someone to show me how to use the equipment. Daniel tells me that he couldn't do that, he was a personal trainer. I asked who could and he never told me, as if this was something that is not done in a health club! He then went over to andrew and said something to him and then comes back and says that andrew said that "he had already took me on a tour". I'm thinking so now andrew is being dishonest because he never gave me any tour on the day I signed up. He took my daughter and I up to the gym and let her shoot around and that was it.
So now, I go over to andrew to get some clarification from him since he was the one who initially signed me up and was so nice and accommodating but now he was so arrogant and really uncaring about what I was asking; what a change from just the other day when his [protected]@# was taking my damn money! How fake and a phony of him! He looked at me like I was crazy for expecting people in a frigging health club to provide me with a simple request such as walking me around and showing me how to use the equipment! I'm sorry, maybe I haven't been a part of a health club in a while, but I don't feel that this is a lot to ask. I do not like the fact that daniel was not upfront with me in the very beginning instead of wasting his and my time, having me do various exercises that will probably have me sore for a while, and he's thinking that he's going to talk fast and run game on me to spend more money for a personal trainer when that was not my intent nor my expectation for my visit today. He claims that he told me the purpose of the visit but I guarantee you that he did not! I'm not crazy nor am I stupid, in fact far from it and highly educated and I don't like being fooled and tricked into doing something! I know very darn well what a personal trainer is and if that was what I wanted or if I decide to get one somewhere down the line, I will make that choice on my own. I do not like being played with especially when it come to my money!
I'm not looking for a resolution as I am considering terminating my membership for the way that I was treated and disrespected today. I know that this means nothing to you all and the owners and others up top as I am just 1 person and I know that my little money will not make or break anyone there. I would like for andrew and daniel to just own the fact that they were both misleading and dishonest to me. They both tried to play me like I was stupid and I don't like that as I stated earlier I am far from it. I am a paying customer and your company needs to train your employees on how to be honest and upfront with your practices when trying to get people to join your personal trainer programs, that's all I ask. I wanted to curse and use really foul language while I was writing this because I left there today very upset and again disappointed but I am going to respect your guidelines and all I ask is that you all would train your employees such as manager/personal trainers, to respect your customers ad treat them with the dignity and respect that they deserve, that is all I ask!

la fitness in brooklyn, oh (tiedeman rd in cleveland)

I am a member of LA fitness and I currently visit the Brooklyn/Tiedeman Road location in Cleveland, OH. I have been to numerous other LA fitensses all over the country and OH and PA and I have never been to one as bad as this one. Actually, I have never been to a bad one period. I have tried complaining previously multiple times to local, regional, and corporate management and nothing is changing and it continues to get worse. I am not a complainer and have actually never even submitted a complaint before, but it is to the point my health and other members' health is at stake.
My main concern is the pool. Not once, in the 2 years I've been going there, have I seen it being cleaned. I have now gotten two pink eyes twice from it, I feel ill after swimming laps, and the towel I use causes my entire house to smell when I return home. I'm a swimmer and because of location, this pool is my only option. There is also mold and mildew along the insides and sides of the pool. I've seen small grey bugs and ants crawling around the outside of the pool and hundreds of hair clumps, food, dirt, and trash floating around the inside of the pool. I saw my hairpiece that I lost in there two weeks later floating around. The entire area smells like body odor with no hint of chlorine. The water is now so murky that I can barely see the wall. It is night and day when I visit other LA fitnesses. I didn't realize that I actually feel sick after swimming in this pool until I visited the very clean Cincinnati/Oakley location for a week and swam there and felt great. I was very much dreading coming back here. In addition, there is essentially no equipment. There is not a single kick board like there are at other locations and every swimming noodle is ripped apart. This is a brand new facility. There is no excuse for the state of this pool.
In addition, the locker rooms are almost as bad. The lockers also contain dirt and hair clumps all over. The toilets usually are dirty, there has been vomit and diarrhea unattended to all over in the women's locker room, and there has been dead centipedes and ants crawling around in addition.
I also enjoy going to group fitness programs. The instructors are great!
The problem I have is with the room itself. I have previously complained that there are essentially no weights in the group fitness room and now, there are also very few mats (mostly all also ripped). It is at the point now that I show up an hour early to try to get 7.5lb weights and they are all gone. I believe there are 2-3 sets of the 7.5 lbs MAX in there. The rest are all 2.5 or 5lbs. Over the past couple of years, they have decreased in quantity and now are almost completely gone. They have disappeared. The staff there has promised to order more and that still has not occurred. I also previously complained to corporate about this and nothing was done by the local staff here. I have to use multiple weights in each hand in the exercises and I have injured my wrists permanently from having to do this every week. To worsen the matter of this room, the hundreds of hair clumps have migrated here as well. I feel like I cannot do any exercise near the floor anywhere in the room. That is how much hair and filth is on the floor in there.
One final thing I have noticed is the drinking water there. I know this might not be their fault, but the water is extremely murky coming from the tap and tastes horrible. I will not use any of the water fountains there. I'm not sure what causes it, but it is awful. I fill up tap water from my home and bring it instead.
Again, I am not a complainer usually, but it is to the point my health is being affected by this place. Every other person I have talked to at this gym has shared my concern and complaints. Most members refuse to even go near the pool. I am genuinely concerned for the health and safety of members here including myself. I don't want to have to make a complaint to the health department, but it is getting worse and worse by the day. Please help this issue to get resolved. I travel and need a reliable chain gym to belong to and I love LA fitness. I am forced to go to this location because it is the only one near me. Please help something to be done about this ASAP before it gets any worse.

I have purchased a year long membership with the kids club and a trainer once a week as I was finally able to work out as I was promoted at work and worked a lot less hours.
A few months later I was diagnosed with stage 3 aggressive breast cancer. I will be undergoing over a year of chemotherapy. Among the stress and hassle of all my appointments I had the hassle of explaining to the gym my situation and attempt to get some of my money back. They cannot cancel my trainer, at minimum I would have to pay $800 to cancel my training sessions, and there is no way they would give me any money back. They offered to freeze my account for 6 months and wave the $35 freezing fee. Six months helps me in no way shape or form when I will be sick for over a year.
I had called the local gym and the head office in california multiple times and was always promised to have a call back, which I would never get. Basically I was [censor] out of luck. No exceptions would be made even though I am going through a sever illness.
That is total crap! As long as you have a Physician's
certificate stating that you are medically unable to
utilize their facility due to health reasons, they are
obligated to refund your money. I believe this is even
in there policy! Check it out!
I wanted to add that you're in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery!

I had an indepth discussion with the LA Fitness sales associate at the Smithtown location, who confirmed I could cancel at anytime if I moved out of the area. I paid $700 for a 2 year membership, and again the associate confirmed I could cancel at any time. However, I am not told... NO you can't cancel unless you have a doctor's certificate, or move outside of a 25 mile radius. I don't drive and it would take me 2 hours to get to the nearest LA Fitness center.
My advice... DON'T EVER SIGN UP WITH THESE PEOPLE!

There was campaign last month in la fitness at 9025 s texas 6, houston, tx 77083. My roommate onur cagatay ozdamar registered and agreed to pay monthly 28$. My payment day is generally 24 or 25 of each month. When I checked my balance today, I noticed that you charged me for 28$. I called your branch, the guy on the phone told me that because I am primary member, I am charged.
First of all, anything has not been told us that I will pay his debt. If I will pay his debt, why he was charged 83$ at the beginning? Once you charged him, why don't you keep charging him? He moved phoenix and told me that he would transfer his membership. Did I make a mistake bringing you a new customer?
Secondly, the guy registered my friend promised me to give a shaker as a result of membership. I reminded him a few times, but he ignored, then addressed me to the manager. The manager told me that I have to download the app and do it on there. They took my time and deceived me at the end.
I want you to refund 28$ and order your above branch manager to give my shaker.

i availed a personal trainer from LA fitness and later i got to know that they are 3rd party people. I am struggling, to whom i do the complaint. below are my concerns :
Fraud 1. The guy who gave me demo and took my fitness test was not my actual trainer, but no one told me initially.
Fraud 2: They told me 1 hr session but actually giving me 25 min sessions and finally i got frustrated.
Fraud 3: I never told that there is a contract and i need to pay contract braking fee and when i said give me 1 hr session or my money back. they said you have to pay half of the amount if you are braking the contract. i just went 3 days there.
Fraud 4: I initially told that i need trainer in the morning around 7 am because 9 am i have to be in the office. but later i got to know that there is no session before 7.35 am. so finally i have to forcefully goto 7.35 am session.
please help me, i am very frustrated and feeling helpless what to do or not.

Good afternoon,
Yesterday, 04/25/2017, my husband’s bag was illegally searched by the one of the employees and another member of the LA Fitness in the changing room. One of the LA members accused my husband of stealing his wallet. He later found the wallet in his belongings.
My husband is 78 years old and the guy confronting him was much younger and scary. He screamed at my husband. The employee in the changing room did absolutely nothing to calm the member and resolved the conflict. When my husband asked another employee (Pat) to call the police, she told him that it is small incident and she will not call the police. When my husband repeatedly asked for the manager’s name or the name of the member accusing him, Pat not only refused to help, she was very rude and unprofessional.
I personally called Pat after the incident, she was extremely rude again, told be to complain to police or the lawyer, screamed at me that I was harassing her and hung up on me. She has NO people skills and should not be working with people.
After all the frustration, I called to corporate office and talked to few people. I was promised that the district manager will call me to discuss the issue. So far, nobody called me.
After this incident, my husband blood pressure was up and he was in bed for the whole day. He comes to LA Fitness to relax and exercise, not to be attacked.
I would like you to take care of this issue. As I said, your employee who does not have people skills should not be working in LA Fitness. The member who feels that he can accuse someone of stealing, scream at the person and attack this person, should lose his membership.
If nothing is done for this issue, I will go to the local TV. This is age discrimination and harassment case. LA Fitness in King of Prussia has a lot of bad reviews. Hopefully, you do not want to have more.
I have had a similar experience at LA Fitness, King of Prussia. The people at the desk are rude lacking basic manners and civility, incompetent--I do not believe they are educated enough to be working there, and they harass the members in particular someone who is very swarthy looking--someone called her Monica. Your experience is outrageous. I would report LA Fitness to AARP since they have a membership contract with AARP. Good luck.

Wait hold I am former employee and let me get this straight your expecting the workers in the gym to clean and pick up the weights after their shift is over at around 10 or 11 p.m the workers have family's they wanna get back home too also. But ok let me educate you real quick a employee shift that is closing ends at the same time as the gym closes and they dont get paid for the extra time that they stay and clean the basketball courts or pick up the weights. Also how do you think the weight get all mixed up in the first place I'll tell you its the members who dont care for uniformity and just leave crap lying around everywhere if you wanna blame someone blame your fellow members who are GROWN men and women who cant do the simple task of putting back the weights they used it's laughable. As for more consideration should be given to members I think its the other way around more consideration should be given to the workers.
