pre employment drug screening
My name is cammie arrowood. I live in lexington, sc. I was sent to the labcorp in west columbia, sc on february 13, 2017 for a pre employment drug screening. I have been there before and never had any kind of problem. I'd go in, "go" on a cup, a couple of days later my drug test came back negative as it always does! This time I was treated like I wasn't good enough to be in there, kind of like I was a drug addict. I took the test, the "nurse" was very annoyed with me because my sample didn't show a temperature. She said I had to take another test in 30 minutes. I was fine with that. (Btw, I wasn't the only person in there that had to take the test twice). I took the second test and she said the same thing had happened but she couldn't retest me that day. She just thru the sample in the case and said i'll just let the lab handle it. The test came back inconclusive which cost me a new job. I do not do drugs, I do not smoke, I barely drink alcohol. I offered the manager at the "new job" to take a different type test such as hair or blood and she said there was nothing she could do. I told her of my experience there and all she said was that I should file a complain about labcorp.
I want a suite against them for misinformation and the fact they cost me a job at a worldwide hotel chain (Hyatt).

horrible customer service
I'll start off by saying that I went there today for a pre-employment drug screen, and the wait time wasn't nearly as long as the last time I had to take a test. I was in and out of there within 20 minutes, whereas during my last visit, it took a little over an hour. So, at least that's an improvement.
However, the customer service aspect of it (or, I suppose in this context bedside manner) is HORRENDOUS. Now, let me tell you, as someone who works in customer service, and handles complaints for a living, I try not to be the one placing the complaint, especially when it can be considered just a matter of perception most of the time. However, the particular individual left to collect urine samples (an older woman, estimated to be mid to late 60's, with glasses and long gray hair) was just blatantly inflammatory and ill-mannered.
Now to provide the full story for context, I admittedly was not "all there" as I am running on a collective six hours of sleep within the last 48 hours. So after attempting to hand her my sample, she stated " We don't take them when they're full; you need to go back and pour half of that out" -- Okay, fair enough. So, without thinking (and I did not realize the stupidity of my own actions until the middle of it ), I poured half the sample into the sink, rather than the toilet.
This woman comes back in and says, "Did you seriously just poor that in the sink? There's no water. There is no running water" while glaring at me. Embarrassed, I apologized multiple times, and acknowledged that yes, it was incredibly dumb of me to do that and clearly was not thinking and advised that I was not aware there was no running water, as I just knew that we were not allowed to turn on the sink to wash our hands; I had not realized you COULD NOT turn it on, even if you wanted to (I know it doesn't make a difference since I SHOULD have instinctively poured it into the toilet anyway)
So again, I apologized, but the door to the waiting area outside was still open, with two other people within earshot, as she gets louder each time she repeated herself, but this time was SCOLDING me, like a dog, before finally saying " Grab your personal belongings and have a nice day." I apologized again and started to grab my belongings, before she continues to say, again, LOUDLY, with the door open where there are two more people seated outside, " Now I have to find something to rinse that out with so it doesn't STINK UP the place!".
By this point, I'm both horribly embarrassed and upset - and rather than apologize I told her to have a nice day and proceeded to head out the back entrance, shaking because I was so angry.
I feel she had the right to be annoyed. That was fine, but I feel she was unnecessarily belligerent after my initial apology, as I did not try and argue with her, but repeatedly apologized and acknowledged my own shameful stupidity in that moment instead.
Maybe because I was on the receiving end of her LOUDLY vocalized annoyance, I'm biased when I said I felt it was handled inappropriately.
So, at the the expense of embarrassing myself, I wanted to share my experience with this particular employee, whom I guess is named Cheryl, because I felt I could NOT just let roll off my back as I would do in any other rare instance where I come across difficult people in a professional setting.
labwork
I have been to two different locations. At each of those locations your staff were rude. You never have enough staff. One time i set there and listened to two staff look up on the internet what to do for the procedure that I had ordered.
Your company never sends the results to the Dr. I went 4 days once waiting to get the results. When you have potential medical complications that is a long time to wait. Also, it requires calls to the lab to get them to send it.
Your billing practices of requiring an open ended credit or debit card are unethical. You use intimidation in your practices of paying up to date or lab wont get done. I foresee a class action suit regarding your billing practices. For many this is an intimidating process for which medical care can be withheld without complying.
If my insurance didn't demand LabCorp as the only lab allowable, I would never use you company's services. POOR Quality consumer care
front desk lady
On February 6th I was sent to Lab Corp to get blood work done from my doctor and went to the lab Corp in north port Florida. Let me tell you I will NEVER go back to the lab Corp in north port. The women at the front desk was so rude and disrespectful. She was yelling at the associate she was working with yelling at her saying she lost paper work yelling the customers information for everyone in the waiting room to hear. When she called me up and I handed her my paper work she looked at it and said "are you serious are you kidding me" I felt like such an inconvenience to her. My reason for going in was to confirm I am pregnant with my first child and was told I would have a had time getting pregnant. I was eager and excited and I left that office in tears IN TEARS because I felt like she could have cared less anyone was there It took EVERYTHING I had to bite my tongue. That is not acceptable and that women does not deserve her job she does not have the right to yell at the women she was working with and certainly wont get away with talking to me like that. I went today into the labcorp in port Charlotte Florida and I had an awesome experience and was sure to tell them the experience I had in north port and I was told it was not the first time they heard about it. If that is the case why has corporate not given this women an attitude adjustment?
blood work
Three weeks ago I brought my daughter to go do blood work to check her liver and her doctor called yesterday stating that lap corp had tested the wrong test so basically everything that my child went through was for nothing after waiting 2 hours before even being seen to get a 5 min service. This is unacceptable. No one called me I had to receive a call from my daughters doctor and be told that they did this incorrectly.
failure to varify before mailing medical documents
My name is amy turner - 03/18/1987
I have been trying for a month to get my records from labcorp.
Called and finally got through they said they are archived
They asked if my address was correct and I said no.
She said "ok I will call and verify your new address when I get all your records together".
A week or more later I call back to check up and she had mailed them to the wrong address. So now my personal medical records for the past 5 years are floating out for whoever to see.
So I give them the right address and they tell me it will be weeks before they mail it out again (A week before christmas)
It is now the middle of january still no records.
It is illegal to mail medical information without verification of the address and recipient.
routine lab visit
01/17/17...Had appointment today and still had to wait awhile. The office looks old, dirty and in need of repairs and paint. Almost looks not sterile. Woman that drew my blood was not happy at all. You have a sign on the wall about smiling but she definitely was not smiling the entire visit. We as employees of a medical office have to use Labcorp per our insurance and this office is the closest location.
rude front desk employee
On Thursday December 29th I went into the LabCorp, 14131 Metropolis Ave #102, Fort Myers, FL 33912 for routine blood work. The phlebotomist was so upbeat, nice and friendly. She made my visit a joy.
The following morning on December 30th at 8:00 am I returned with my hemoccult test. The same phlebotomist was sitting in the back of the reception area and greeted me with a huge smile. The girl at the desk could not have been more opposite. She was rude, abrupt and condescending. I handed her the envelope. She asked me to sign in. Surprised, I asked if I would need to be staying, as I left my car running, and she said NO just sign in! Ok, then she handed the envelope back to me and told me to open it. Then she asked, "Did you have this done HERE?" I replied yes that I had just been there the morning before for blood work. I stood there for a minute or so and she said in a rude tone - you can GO!
Never will return to LabCorp again. I'll switch to Quest Diagnostics instead.
front office employees
12-27-16 1:30 pm employees in the front office were rude and we're no help . Rather than telling me to fill out all the sections on the lab sheet, then continously calling me to the front desk once to full out the name, once to fill out the address, once to fill out my number, and once to sign in again. As they were doing this I asked if they can please hurry I have things to do. They thought it was a joke they were smirking and speaking under their breath. Also they were being rude to my special needs son. And I respectfully asked them if they can stop talking to him like that because he is special needs. They then refused my service just because I had a opinion about their customer service. Every visit to the lab corp in moreno valley, ca on heacock st is like this the new workers there are rude and unprofessional. I hope this gets worked out.
billing
I received a LabCorp bill for Vitamin D, 25 Hydroxy lab test for $273.00. I was told at the time of my test it is coded correctly and Medicare will pay for it. The test was done on September 8, 2016
It's funny how there other $510.00 charges in the same blood test were paid by Medicare for $36.71.
Now I found the excel net fee schedule form LabCorp and I see that the net fee they charge providers is $18.94. Why should I have to be charged almost 15 times more. In any other industry that's called racketeering. I would pay the reasonable $18.94 but LabCorp will not answer my emails.
My doctor says her prescription is correct whatever that means. LabCorp will not respond to my customer service emails thus I guess they are waiting for the bill to go to their in house collection people. I will demand a hearing.
Realistically I would love to go to Washington and produce all these documents at a hearing on the ridiculous charges from medical providers that only those that cannot afford it pay.
medical negligence
Labcorp sent the results of my bloodwork to an unauthorized person violating HIPAA.
Called customer service and lodged a complaint.
Service rep denied that they made an error saying the order was sent in electronically.
I requested they email us a copy of that above-styled electronic communication they referenced.
Labcorp put us on hold and put someone else on the phone.
Was transferred to 5 different employees and still no resolution of my complaint.
I am lodging a federal complaint against them for a HIPAA violation.
unethical behavior by lab tech
On 12/12/16 at approx 10:50 I walked in LabCorp on West Pratt Street in Baltimore, where I have never been before an am unfamiliar with my surroundings. Apparently by looking at the office it is being occupied by several doctors etc. I saw a sign that said lab and an arrow that point in the direction I followed. I saw a door and opened and didn't realize that this was actually the office and lab drawing station. There was a patient in there already and I felt bad. I sincerely apologized and shut the door, but I heard the tech voicing her opinion how rude, disrespectful and how I exposed the patients privacy. I felt very low and bad, I sat there angry and upset. I saw another tech and said to him I want to speak to her manager and her said was she rude to you? I said yes and he said one moment. As he left, she came out of the room with this angry face just staring me down, as I looked at her trying to hold back my tears. She just starts yelling at me in front of all these other patients, saying I can't believe you just walked in, how disrespectful, no privacy and rude over and over as I am trying to get in I am truly sorry I didn't know this is my first time here I didn't know what to expect. She wouldn't even accept that. Then she walked back in the room. The guy came back and said great she is crying and proceeded into the room. She walked back out past me and I said I didn't want her drawing my blood and she says that is fine. It is now my time the guy draws my blood as she sits at the desk not even looking at me. Then I walked out with the guy tech and he gave me the manager name (Mike PAPA) that I will also be following up with. The Tech that is in question her name is (Hunter). I am aware that this isn't her fist offense and I don't feel that someone with this disrespect to the public should have contact or be written up. I also feel that I should be apologized too.
labcorp tech urine collection
Worst experience ever in Labcorp Burlington Nj with one of the techs czeck or something was her name.No human being should be treated the way I was treated. I was supposed to be giving urine, she explained all procedure to me which I understood . Half way in peeing in a cup she came banging on d door yelling OPEN D Door . Scared thinking something was happening I unlocked d door she opened d door wide while I was standing there with my pants hanging down. Stating I turned on the water that she heard it. That Dumb idiot does not even know wat she heard . I was supposed to be peeing . is urine also not liquid?.The worst part was everyone was staring at me include customers with my pants down after the idiot opened the door. No apology or anything. This is really unacceptable . and should not be tolerated . I hope someone sees dis complain and is able to address this woman on some ethics . This incident happened on 11/10/16
general office demeanor and attitude
11/7/16
I made an appointment for 3 pm at the local labcorp on recker and brown in Mesa az.
The rep had an attitude before I even spoke to her.
No hello no smile not even a hint of politness, just paper work and insurance. so I hand it to her and tell her there is a faxed in order, no thank you no conversation just more attitude as if I wasn't even there. Then she hands them back and says have a seat, while I say good thing I made that appointment as she takes 2 people ahead who clearly do not have an appointment as stated on the log sheet, but have standing orders.
It is now 3 and I am still sitting in the lobby waiting on her to input my information. As I ask away she says to the other lady neither wearing name badges, I don't know why she's on a hurry.
Now I have confronted them both.
Immediate contact is needed
horrible customer service
I was dropping off a sample for my husband and the staff member was not at the counter, so I waited just under 5 minutes. The time I spent waiting was honestly no big deal, but the staff member came out, no greeting whatsoever and asks if I signed in. I said no and that I was bringing a sample in for my husband. She got all huffy with me and demanded his name, which she wrote down. I tried to hand her the bag, which she then rudely stated that it better be labeled or that it would be thrown out. I get that people probably have left off the proper labels, but talking to me like I was some idiot was way out of line. Upon leaving, I called my husband to explain what had happened, he then told me how the same lady with the bird tattoo on her wrist, had treated him poorly as well. On his visit, he had to have blood drawn. After cleaning his antecubital site for the draw, heaven forbid he have an itch! His other hand holding his phone, he bent his arm and satisfied the need to scratch. How dare he! She sat and belittled him until he left. I have worked in some sort of customer service type job for 15 years, 7 of them in healthcare, if I had treated anyone as she treated us, I would've been reprimanded or fired without second thought. After reading other reviews, and reflecting on our own experience, we will not ever be returning to any Labcorp locations. I would've reported this directly on their website had there been a way to.
blood work
surly service
I am in for a BNP as a test of my congestive heart failure. First thing they do is slap me with a letter that says they will bill me because the diagnostic code was not on the slip. No explanation of how to resolve this. No consideration. No questions allowed. Just sign or else. They will not contact the doctor. They will not lift a finger to help in any way. I tell my doctor and his staff spend 30 minutes on hold before giving up. Labcorp does not provide them with the information to resolve this properly.
Now I have to help my doctor track this down and get it resolved so I don't get billed. Doctor provides me with correct code and I take that to the labcorp office. The surly receptionist tells me she cannot do anything. I have to push her to tell me how to get it resolved. Surly receptionist gives me the number of client services. That is a runaround. Now I have to sit on hold to get to client services. Client services tells me WRONG! I have to contact billing. Call billing and they put me on hold for a while. Finally surly mean rep Valery tells me the doctor has to do this. It is up to me to push Valery to give me details on how this is to be accomplished. Would not volunteer that unless pressed.
Finally I get the fax number and how to submit diagnostic code. Just gave it to my doctor. I will never use labcorp again. Not just because of this. Their phlebotomists must have been ex junkies. No, I take that back. A junkie knows how to find a good vein. I have had one sit there and probe around with the needle 3 or 4 times before giving up and getting someone else to do it. Aren't phlebotomists supposed to be trained and certified? That would require at least a 5th grade level of reading and writing. That has bee lacking with most at labcorp. I think they use fake phlebotomists. Of course on top of this is all the billing problems and threats to bill my credit card. I don't think I ever met a nice person at a labcorp office either.
Phlebotomy dept.
The lab tech drew blood samples from 2 of my daughters into both heparinized and EDTA tubes and failed to invert them to mix the blood with the anticoagulants. When I confronted her with the fact of her failure to invert the tubes, she tried to lie to me, telling me that she had inverted them, but that I had not seen her do it. I then told her that I was a labtech myself and she then tried to lie to me again, telling me that a machine would invert them. This is a gross negligence and it not only affects my children, but every other patient that goes to this Labcorp branch! I will NEVER, go to this Labcorp branch again!
Customer service
Sandy at the location on US 1 in Stuart, FL should not be dealing face to face with customers. I sat there and heard her be rude to everyone. Interrupting someone asking a question. She acted like the customers were a "bother" to her. I will never go back there. I found a place down the street where I didn't have to wait long and customer was great.
Blood draw
DO NOT GO TO LABCORP TO GET YOUR BLOOD DRAWN. They hire "phlebotomists" with very little training and most went to scammer schools that are "for profit", not "non profit" like a real community college, etc.
Some of the women went to "schools" that were forced to shut down because they lost their license to teach, but LabCorp seems to hire these individuals very often!
"Phlebotomist" performed draw, "blew out my vein", decided to re-enter into "blown out vein" and still never was able to get blood drawn. I was bleeding and a massive bruise formed with internal bleeding. The rest of the day, my arm became VERY cold, turned blueish/purple, became partially numb. I had to go to the ER and get an ultrasound!
I still have numbness and large medical bills.
STAY AWAY FROM LABCORP
failure to bill insurance when it was available.
I received a collections notice from labcore about a bill that they were supposed to submit for payment last September 2015 and now that the insurance went out of business they are trying to ruin my good credit. I already sent copies of the letters that I got from the dept. of financial services and that was ignored. Health Republic Insurance is and was responsible for this bill not me. I will mail the copies again to labcore and hope they will follow instructions as to how to get payment from Health Republic. Re: invoice # [protected] for service on nov, 2015. Please submit to www.healthrepublicny.org
