For the past 5 months Lake Michigan Credit Union has been withdrawing money from my personal checking account at American Airlines Credit Union
For the past 5 months Lake Michigan Credit Union has been withdrawing money from my personal checking account at American Airlines Credit Union without authorization. In February this year my girlfriend and I separated and while at that time we were paying her car payment out of my checking account, we stopped that authorization. Lake Michigan has continued to withdraw *** out of my account after several requests to stop this transaction. *** (girlfriend) has filed paperwork multiple times as well as several phone conversations with Credit Union management to stop the unauthorized transactions. Lake Michigan refused to talk to me as I was not the account holder and has also stated that they are unable to stop the *** or it has to be completed on American Airlines Credit Union system even though the debit was initiated at Lake Michigan Credit Union. I have had to dispute this transaction for the past several months with American Airlines Credit Union to get the transaction reversed.

Personal account closed without notice
Personal account closed without notice. I just recently found out that my personal accounts where closed at LMCU. I was told this is because I owe my old bank *** money, that I didn't know about. I was not contacted once by LMCU by email or letter. They just closed my account without warning me or even telling me what was going on. I have never heard of of a credit union or bank closing a account without contacting its customer. I was told any money I had in my account was mailed in the form of a check to me.( I haven't received anything, yet) I was told my account could be open once I get a letter from *** bank ( *** ) Stating that I paid them off. I was once I pay my old bank back that they can reopen my account. They just need a letter from *** saying I paid them. I paid *** off in full ( Found out yesterday I owed them money) I paid through a *** once collects debt from ***. I have payroll still going to my personal account from my employer. Thanks for all the help, please email me only so I have this in writing. ***.

I recently opened a business checking and savings account with Lake Michigan Credit Union where I do my personal banking. I am starting a new mortgage brokerage which I let the branch manager who opened my account know when completing the opening of the accounts. After having the account open for about 3 weeks I was contacted by the same branch manager asking me some questions about the functions of the business which I found odd. My new company is called *** so even if I hadn't told the branch manager about the businesses function I believe it is pretty obvious. I let her know that the company is a mortgage brokerage and I will be utilizing 3rd party lenders in the wholesale market to underwrite and fund loans. I was informed today which is about 5 weeks since opening the account that the account would need to be closed due to compliance issues. I inquired further about what compliance issues were causing the account to need to be closed and she could not give me an answer. I also explained that this would be a huge burden to me to have to open a new business account due to both the fact that all of my vendors and accounting systems are setup from this account and because there are net worth requirements that need to be held in a business account to be in compliance as a mortgage brokerage in *** So not only will it be a huge burden to have to open and re-setup all of my payments and accounting systems if I have to switch financial institutions, it will also be a risk to my company to be out of compliance. If Lake Michigan Credit Union does not want to do business with mortgage brokerages for whatever reason that is their choice, however it is egregious for them to allow a brokerage to open a business account and then close it a month later. I believe this is being done intentionally to harm competing mortgage lenders as they are well aware of the potential regulation issues and accounting issues this will cause.
I purchased a 14 month CD and at the time they did not let me know that would be a $270 fine for early withdrawal nor did they tell me they would not notify me when the CD came due I was a week late and getting my CD and thats when they charge me $270 I believe they shouldve notified me At the time of purchase of these requirements
I deposited a certified cashiers check via the mobile app on March 27 2022. It had my husbands name on it and he is not on my account. I spoke to *** from fraud dept after the mobile deposit was accepted and then they took back the 225 that was released from my check without notice. I was told I needed a notarized affidavit releasing the funds to me. So I did that and then they added yet another five days onto a hold for a certified cashiers check. This is beyond ridiculous. Five business days from the time the image was captured should be today the first of April. I just want my funds released.
Company did not properly verify my information.
I closed on my home 6/4
I closed on my home 6/4 . At the time of closing summer taxes were due and were not paid by the lender. Now they are delinquent. I closed on my home on 6/19. At the time of closing summer taxes were due. I thought they were paid at closing. A year later I got notice from my county that they were never paid. Called my new lender and the county thinking it was about 2020 taxes but those are paid and up to date. My current lender took over in September and told me to reach out to my previous lender LMCU. I called a few times and was left on hold for hours without anyone speaking with me I reached out by email and was told I would get a response w/in 72 hr window. I sent follow up email after 48 hours got no reply. And it is now past 72 hours and I have not been contacted. I reached out from another phone number and was able to get through and they immediately transferred me and I remained on hold for over an hour still unable to speak with anyone. My summer 2019 taxes are still due and no one from the credit union will speak with me to try and resolve the issue.

Spoke with agent at LMCU *** about auto re- finance. She gave me a hand written list of rates, if I qualified. She gave me list of necessary documents. I had them faxed to her. I was led to believe the loan was all set to sign by another agent on the phone. Subsequently, another appointment with the original agent was scheduled to "apply" for the same loan. The agent said she hadn't done a " Hard Pull" and she would have to do one now. She neglected to inform me that the rate had gone up in the interim between our meetings. I refused the higher interest rate. I asked her to " walk-back the credit inquiry; to no avail. So, I have a superfluous and injurious inquiry on my credit history caused by her omission. I would like the "hard pull" expunged from my credit record. Yours truly
I contacted the *** brand of Lake MI Credit Union, my own credit union where i have a mortgage, auto loan, IRAs, and savings and checking accounts as do my, now adult, children. I called to set up an Estate account for my brother *** who passed away and for whom I am Personal Representative, as I did for my mother a few years ago when she passed away. I was told LMCU cannot do this, since *** was not a member here at LMCU. (He lived in ***). When I asked the reason for the policy I was told they did not know, it's just policy. I am upset to have to potentially use a different CU when I have been a member in good standing and have numerous accounts here. I find it rude to refuse a member with so much business here, and further, to not receive an answer as to WHY.

This Credit Union is absolutely terrible, they have been playing games with me for many months
This Credit Union is absolutely terrible, they have been playing games with me for many months. I had a dual residency with *** and ***, and Lake Michigan credit union doesn't understand this concept. This basically means that I work in *** for most of the year and I live in *** as well. I have an established residency in both states. When I applied for a credit card many months ago they stated that it had to be *** because they assumed that I was fully living in ***. Fast forward many months later now they're telling me that they can't help me with my credit card because my employment time is too low, which makes no sense so I'm not sure if their employees are not entering information correctly or are just really not understanding. I'm not sure if there's some indirect bias that they have towards me which makes them not want to help me, but my entire family has been banking with Lake Michigan credit union for more than 50 years and this is absolutely ridiculous. I have established income that has been coming in for three years I have good credit and they always come up with some *** BS excuse , as to why I can't be helped.

I have a Home Equity loan with this credit union. I call every month to make a payment on the phone because they will not take a payment from another institution online. Last month i was told that I was behind on my payments because the girl I gave my account information to took it wrong and the payment couldn't be processed. It took them 3 weeks to contact me on this. I was charged a late fee when it wasn't my fault. Now this month they state that I cant use my account number and routing and they will only accept a debit card but that costs $15 to process. This is not right when it wasn't my fault. Now i have been on hold for 45 minutes to talk to a supervisor and no one has even come back on the line. Terrible service and it is not right to charge fees for their errors.
Lake Michigan Credit Union (*** branch) gave personal checks to another bank member not on my account sometime in late September thus exposing my account information, address and other personal information. Because of their negligence the other persons were able to write checks from my account leading to multiple overdraft fees. When contacting branch they offered no help, said they couldn't cancel checks over the phone & did not accept responsibility for exposing my personal info. As my checking balance was negative because of their carelessness I was unable to purchase gas for my vehicle causing me to miss work, I could not buy groceries for my family or pay my bills. Prior to this occurring the bank cashier gave me another members checks and I had to correct her and give checks back as soon as she gave me them having to tell her that the name on the checks she was not mine.
I am attached to my daughter account but she not attached to mine and trying to take money from my account I been joint on bank accounts but I never have them come after me if I was joint on someone else's account until now they want me to pay $290 and my overdraft protection away because of her account
I paid off my mortgage with LMCU and they then took another mortgage payment from my account and are refusing to refund my money for over two weeks. They said there is a 10 business day holding period and then they must conduct an audit of my mortgage. Which was paid off ACCORDING TO THEIR STATEMENT. The pay off was coordinated with them. Then they will send me a statement stating what they owe. Then they will send funds. I need my money back. They had no right to automatically withdraw my funds.
I have a Power Of Attorney over my Mothers account
I have a Power Of Attorney over my Mothers account. LMCU tells me it gives me no power over her account but to right checks to pay bills. My mother has over drawn her account and paid over drawn fees multitude of times. She was not paying her bills and was severely behind on them twice in the last year. Took out cash advances and did not pay them back. Was writing checks when she had no money in her accounts. That's when I realized mother could no longer manage her finances. I took out a power of attorney. I have sent the POA to Lake Michigan CU and they have told me it means nothing but that I can write checks to pay my mothers bills. I was already on her account so I could already do that anyways. My mother always wants money out of her account (she wants to give it to a grandson) and I tell her we have to pay your debts first. Now she has gone to the Lake Michigan CU in ***, MI and taken money out of her savings account. I am very worried she is going to start taking money for her bills out of her account now that she know the CU will let her. I have given my attorney ***. *** names and phone numbers to people I have talked to about this matter at the ***, MI branch and no one will call him back.

LMCU screwed up my mortgage
LMCU screwed up my mortgage.Delays and no feedback. Now that it is completed, they assigned my son's account to my mortgage and withdrew from his acct. I already filed a complaint about the massive incompetence and lack of communication during my mortgage. They couldn't handle the paperwork and just said they were overwhelmed. Then don't take on mortgages you can't complete accurately. With a great deal of filing complaints I was able to get the loan completed. Then, I went to pay on my mortgage and was appalled when I noticed they linked my son's account to my mortgage. I didn't do it as I don't have his account number. I nearly withdrew thousands as I was making an additional payment. I talked to 2 supervisors. Alerted them and was assured it was corrected. NOTE: The attachments show that he was connected to my account incorrectly and the second shows that they withdrew the money from my son's account. Now, my son knows private information about my mortgage payment that I never intended to give out. I am so disgusted with their ongoing incompetence and cannot understand why they have an A rating with Complaintsboard.com. They can never fix the fact that my son knows details about my mortgage that I never intended him to find out due to their incompetence.

I went to LMCU to place a POA *** of *** form filled out and placed on my husbands account
I went to LMCU to place a POA *** of *** form filled out and placed on my husbands account. Everything was fine with the form except the last page, I signed where my husband signed and he signed where I was suppose to sign. I was told by LMCU employee that all I had to do was get the last page of the form filled out correctly and get it notarized and fill out a form with my and his banking info on it and I would be fine. I did that brought the form back in the employee that advised me of the information was on level and I had to speak with someone else by the name of ***. I was denied for my POA stating it was fraudulent and I advised the manager *** in the fraud department that I did exactly what I was advised by one of your employees. Then I was advised by *** not only did he deny the *** but he said he closed my husbands account. I asked why, when that was not requested, He told me that the account had been inactive for 60 days and he closed it. I asked another employee the next day how long can an account stay open before it is closed for non-activity. I was advised 6mths. I feel this is an "Abuse of Power". His account should have never been closed at the least. I have filed complaints thru the company and have yet to hear anything back.

Lake Michigan Credit Union Wont close my account Lake Michigan Credit Union Wont close my account without there special form after I sent them a letter requesting the account closed. I already sent them a signed letter with my account statement asking them to mail my balance in my saving account to my address of record. They sent back a letter with a form saying I have to fill it out, get a notary and send my ID in order to do it. I spoke to a manager at the call center named ***. She said legally they are required to have their form completed to close an account. When asked legally by who, *** admitted that it was the Credit Union rule. I had already sent them a signed letter now they want more. They want the form completed, it says to be notarized but *** said it doesn't have to be and a copy of my ID emailed, mailed or faxed to them, during this time fees will continue to accumulate and if your account goes negative they will want the balance paid to them. They already took one months fees and are scheduled to do so again. They are holding my account hostage. I didn't have any problems until I refinanced my mortgage with a different credit Union, now they want me to duplicate work because they want to get more fees or make it more difficult. I sent a letter now they want more above and beyond what is reasonable.

LMCU mortgage department takes on more loans than they can reasonably process without full disclosure
LMCU mortgage department takes on more loans than they can reasonably process without full disclosure. My 30-45 day loan is now 50 plus days. In the industry, it is called "Spiking the job." LMCU took on my refinance when I specifically asked how long the process would take because I needed to pay contractors for work around my house, I was told 30-45 days. They were responsive until the paperwork was signed and then ghosted. I couldn't get the loan officer to give me information including updates. I had to call every step of the way assuring everything was going through to keep this on track and completed in a timely manner. I would email my loan officer, Tyler B and when I didn't hear from him, I went to his manager, Andrew S Today I find out that my loan will now take 50 plus days. Tyler has no idea and suggested I ask his manager. No response to my email...AGAIN! This is a bait and switch and I plan to file further complaints with the federal government because this lack of transparency is not tolerated by this consumer. It will be easy to do a forensic audit of their loan practices where they agree to take your money and then offer no information, updates, or timelines. I will not tolerate hearing anything about Covid. I have shared my story with others who experienced the same thing. Even the reviews show that this is not a Covid or isolated situation.

The loan officer Matt A shared our personal information to a realtor we had chose not use that we referred to him by. I am filing the complaint due to a privacy breach. The loan officer AFTER speaking with our new buyers agent, after our previous was told in email that we will no longer be using him, shared our personal information with the previous realtor. We were trying to get our preapproval revised to offer on a home and he called the original realtor letting him know which house and which realtor and tried to tell us he would not revise it. We found this information out after we called asking for property tax info on a house the previous agent wanted us to offer on that he illegally showed without a mask before it was listed. He said taxes are exactly the same loan should be no problem. The loan officer told us he wouldn't write it because it wasn't in our budget but after he admitted to sharing our personal information he said he would write it. I believe between him and *** of *** in *** they were trying to scam us into buying a house not on the market to avoid fees and also trying to take more money than needed, and/or lying about our preapproval. We also were sent two totally different preapproval letters that didn't match. I believe this would be best told in person as I have so much to say but am very upset he broke a privacy breach when he and *** knew that we no longer were using Lee as our buyers agent.

Lake Michigan Credit Union sent personal account information to the wrong people
Lake Michigan Credit Union sent personal account information to the wrong people. I purchased a vehicle through *** on March 7 and Lake Michigan Credit Union (LMCU) was the loan provider used by the dealership. I was told that the first payment would be due in 45 days and I'd receive information in the mail regarding my payments. I received information for payments on March 20. However, it is NOT my information that I received. I received the payment information, including account number, name, address, routing number, etc for a ***. The envelop was addressed to me, the welcome page was mine, but the payment checks were not mine, neither was the credit score sheet that completed the packet. My personal information is now in the hands of a stranger and they're armed with my credit rating (I fall in the very good category) making me an easier target for identity theft. The same goes for *** - he/she has no idea that I wouldn't try to obtain access to his financials. From past experience every single person I know who has a LMCU account has had their identity stolen on at least one occasion, if not more. I called LMCU to help resolve this issue. I was told that I could sign up for online payments - if I had a checking or savings account through them, using my account number. If I wished to make payments using a non-LMCU the only option I had was to sign up for an automatic payment system. Doing such would prevent me from being able to pay off my auto loan earlier than scheduled, which given my experience with LMCU I want paid off as soon as possible.

My husband and I decided that we wanted to open an account with Lake Michigan Credit Union as a way to save money for an emergency fund
My husband and I decided that we wanted to open an account with Lake Michigan Credit Union as a way to save money for an emergency fund. We did not have an accounts with LMCU. Before this we were going to set up an account with a different credit union, however, they informed me that they ran a credit report and we did not want that as we are going to be selling our house and buying a new one and did not want the pull on our credit report. I contacted member services before processing the application online to verify that LMCU would not pull my credit report and was told "No" the only thing they do is verify my information like social security, DL and address. Everything soulded fine so I went online to open the account. There was a notice saying that information would be pulled so I called again to verify. I was told again that a credit report would not be pulled just information would be verified so I moved forward with the application. After it was compleated I received a notification that their was a hard inquire on my credit report, my husband received one as well. I was very angry. I went to my local branch and meet with the Asst. *** He informed me that they have a speical department that deals with this and I am not the only one that has had issues with this. He did write me a letter stating that the credit pull was not for credit purposes and that an account was not set up, however, after I had time to think about it I am not OK with that. We did not set up an account nor do we plan to after the way that we were treated. I did due diligence by calling twice to clarify. We are just asking that the inquire be removed for both myself and my husband.

On January 14, 2022, My initial visit to the Lake *** Credit Union located at *** was to deposit a check from the *** Lottery for $5,000. I went to the drive through window and gave the last four digits of the account in husband's name ***) to use for the deposit. After a long wait , the teller informed me that my check would have a five day hold without explanation. I then asked for assistance with my debit card because I haven't used it after forgetting my PIN number. I was referred to my online banking account to reset it myself. The next morning my husband called to ask why the five day hold on a state check, only to be referred to the branch who's manager made the judgement call. We have a huge problem with her unavailability after such a devastating blow to our excitement. I know branch can call to verify a check, but never bothered to offer an explanation or consider my husband's disability checks for the last four months being his only income and failed to acknowledge our desperation to access these funds. Now five business days will equate to a week from this Monday - presumably January 24th. Why would a credit union treat a customer of over fifteen years without any fraud problems this way? I suggest they review this "judgement call " and release our lottery win immediately! And consider the customer's loyalty. We have other options for our financial needs and plan to explore them after this resolution. Also the money was not deposited in requested account, they moved it from the requested account after I left to the other one. Only $225.00 was available of the 5k, I suppose this was matching the balance prior to the deposit . I get that , but why not tell me why it went into our other account after my requested account ending in *** and the teller replied " you mean the one in which *** is primary? " *** is primary on both accounts the check was in my name- why wait on guaranteed funds!?

Lake Michigan Credit Union charged me over $4000 for insurance to cover themselves after my separated wife dropped coverage
Lake Michigan Credit Union charged me over $4000 for insurance to cover themselves after my separated wife dropped coverage. My wife, whom I am divorcing, dropped coverage from my car and put storage coverage on it because no one drives it. I immediately called to get coverage put back on it but was given a form she had gotten from*** that would allow it to be stored during Covid. I am not sure how or why*** would be speaking with her, she isn't on the car title or loan (only I am), but they did. I signed the paper and gave it back to her/***. On 6/4 I had the insurance company send me a copy of my new insurance declaration putting new insurance back on the car. An error was made and I sent them my homeowners policy but it was corrected and the declaration page was sent. Jumping forward to September this year I received notice (by mail at my old address) that*** had place some type of insurance on my car because it wasn't insured. The cost of that was around $4400. I immediately called to inquire and was told that they were allowed to do that if I didn't have insurance on the car other than the storage insurance. First of all, I was never phoned and told it didn't have insurance on it. Two notices were mailed to me before they placed the insurance on the car but never a call or a comment as I pay my bill in person every month. I did place insurance on the car immediately after hearing it didn't have coverage and they removed a portion of the $4400 (leaving around $2200). This is unacceptable to me being that they made no real attempt to contact me if they were concerned, they should have made a phone call given that they did have my correct number. This all would have been illuminated if they hadn't spoken to my separated wife who has no claim to the car whatsoever. This is a true example of a business making a huge mistake and now trying to justify it at the customers expense. I would like the full amount of the insurance that was placed removed from my loan amount. It is the right thing to do and the only satisfactory outcome for both of us.

Misleading advertising LMCU advertises that they do vacant land loans and they had desirable terms, so my husband and I applied
Misleading advertising LMCU advertises that they do vacant land loans and they had desirable terms, so my husband and I applied. We have excellent credit scores, good income, and time on our jobs. We were expeditiously provided with a pre-approval letter and cost estimate worksheet. I submitted the requested verification documentation with in 48 hours. Everything was moving very smoothly, then suddenly our loan officer tells us there is an issue with the land. So, I am thinking 'what can the issue be'? ... it is vacant land! We had been shopping for a while, so I knew the price of the land versus number of acres was a fair, if not, good deal. Then the loan officer tells me this: "The appraiser will use similar parcels that have sold and been financed in the last 6-12 months to help determine the value of the parcel you are purchasing. (Makes sense, no issues here) However, the value and the highest and best use for the property (here is the issue) are two separate items. When it comes to land purchases the appraiser needs to indicate what he/she determines is the highest and best use for the property.(here is the issue an appraiser, after you pay a $400.00 application fee gets to decide "what he/she determines is the highest and best use for the property" and if s/he decides, 'Eh, I don't think this is a good place to build a house' (completely subjective) your loan is denied and you lose your $400.00 application fee. Whether that be buildable land or tillable farm ground. Since you have mentioned the property is current zoned agricultural and there are crops currently on (less than 1/2 of 20 acres) the parcel, I feel it very likely that the appraiser will indicate that the highest and best use for the parcel is to remain tillable land." There are house all along the west side of the property and a large portion of the property is over-grown and absent any crops and the rest will be harvested by the current owner by 11/10. Furthermore, there have been several perc tests done on the property that have passed and it is suitable for building a house, which is our intent. Bottom-line is this random person randomly decides what a good use for YOUR land is...not a good business practice. Seems like it is rare to find businesses with a 'how can we make this happen' attitude opposed to a 'I don't want to do the work' attitude. Sad.
