Hello
I buy up to 4 pairs of Levi's 501 Jeans a year. I bought 2 pairs on the 11 July 2020. I know it was this date as it was my birthday. I was wearing a pair, kneeled down and the Jeans ripped up the back pocket. This was on 10 Sep 2020. I have had this problem with a pair previous, but didn't think anything of it. But for it to happen twice, within 3-4 months. I feel this is a problem. I only buy 501's and these are not cheap. I am 47 and have been wearing your product for over 30 years.
I think your jeans used to be better made, maybe better material, they used to last me years. now I cannot get 2 months out of a pair.
This saddens me to think that what I considered a quality brand and something that is a style icon and a classic, is not what it was. Now I have a pair of two pairs of Jeans that I can no longer wear.
As can be clearly seen from the pictures. these jeans are new and this can be seen by the labels quality.
I would appreciate some resolution to this problem. these are not cheep jeans and I have to work hard for these products. They are a luxury item. I will not be buying anymore Levi products until this is resolved, as I cannot afford to be wasting money on inferior products.

I look forward to hearing form you.
Many thanks,

Hi Scott!
I have reviewed your complaint about your jeans ripping. I'm sure you can understand that not every pair of jeans will fit every customer, and it is the responsibility of the customer to find clothes that fit them appropriately. Levi sells a wide range of relaxed fit, plus sized and stretch material clothing to fit the unique body type of customers of every size.
I hope this clears things up!
Also, I just had a thought, in many cases torn jeans are very fashionable. You could be a rock star wearing these now!
it has nothing to do if the person can not buy the correct size all it has to do with is that the LEVI product is no longer what it used to be with the jeans torn at the rear pocket after wearing for a few months
Lol wtf kind of passive aggressive reply is this.. I think the 47 year old man who's been wearing the same pair of jeans his whole life knows what size he is.
This is actually an issue with levi's past couple years. Every pair of levi's i've bought (over 10) over the past 2 years have gotten this rip at the back pocket. It has nothing to do with size, i buy a spread between 3 sizes based on whats in stock, they all have the same issue, they all fit, some larger than others.
What a horrible and unprofessional response.
I'm also experiencing multiple pairs of 505s ripping in the same spot as the other posters have detailed.
As others have said.. I've been wearing Levis since the 70s and I know my size!
Same here. 2 of the last 4 pairs of Levi’s I’ve bought have ripped beside the back left pocket in the first 6 months of usage. I agree that the quality of jeans being produced has slipped considerably and it’s time to stop supporting this brand.
I too have the same problem with mine for several years now I have been buying the jeans for over 40 + years starting to think about other brands
I have had the EXACT same tear in 2 pairs of Levi’s too! I am a petite woman and do not wear my jeans tight so this has nothing to do with not understanding my right size. There is nothing cool about walking around with my chonies showing. This seems to be an across the board quality issue.
i purchased 4 pair of Levi 550 relaxed fit and 3 ripped open in my crotch and one in the back next to the pocket within 3 months. $200 down the tubes. I only used them at work where I'm either sitting at a desk or driving a pickup from shop to shop.
I thought it was me until a co-worker came to work and told me he had the same problem.
if you compare and old pair to a new pair the quality is not even close.
I would like to know what to do for a refund. sthyng@pikeindustries.com
I have a pair of 505 jeans that the material ripped next to the back pockets inside top, they have also removed a couple belt loops. The Quality should remain long after the price is forgotten.
Same exact problem with at least 4 pairs of fairly new 505s. The fabric tears next to the back pocket,
I am 57 and have worn nothing but Levi's for decades. I know my size. The quality is subpar.
Such a disappointment from what used to be an iconic American brand.
I bought my husband 2 pair Christmas 2022.
He has also worn these jeans since the 70’s never have we had a problem. He came home and said look what happened to these jeans so just by chance I got online to see if there was a problem with the jeans and was amazed when I saw the same problem in the same location. Clearly there is a problem! Is there anything that can be done about a replacement or refund. Thanks I have attached a picture.
Two pair of 505 jeans ripped like everyone else complaining here rear pocket edge going towards belt line. I asked if they were aware of a problem the said no? Look at the complaints all the same, same spot same problem 501 and 505 they replaced first pair but are all my pair going to fail?
I have been wearing Levi's jeans for 40+ years on an almost exclusive basis. Years ago, the leans would last years without any issues. Lately, these last 5+ years, the jeans are tearing within months, usually at the left rear pocket area or down around the crotch area (depending on style). I would be estatic if I could wear a pair that lasts until a hole sprung around the knee area. To have new 1-2 month old jeans rip at the rear shows these products' quality has severely down downhill and are no longer reliable jeans, especially at the cost of a new pair. Sad state at Levi's.
Us also. I have bought my husband 7 pair of Levi 501's and each one did the exact same thing.
I stumbled upon this site googling about this issue and glad I found it. I have been wearing Levi's as my daily jeans for around 40 years. When I was a kid I would ride BMX bikes all day long in Levis and they would last until I outgrew them. Literally only ripping if I crashed on asphalt at the knees. Once I stopped growing (senior in high school), my jeans would last for years. I have worn the same size since college years. When they outsourced overseas the quality went down but they would still last me for quite some time. However I would say in the last few years they have gotten exponentially worse than any jeans i have ever seen. Mine keep ripping right at the crotch area. I just bought a new pair about a month ago and they ALREADY ripped at the crotch. I work from home in IT now. I literally sit down in a leather chair all day long, and they ripped from this? So much for the gold rush days I suppose. Sad, even the Target brand jeans last me over a year.
I guess Levi's doesn't care. Ripped at the back pocket/crotch definitely does not make anyone a rock star.
I’m having the exact same issue with 550 Levi jeans.
I thought it was only my problem until now
Have had the exact same problems with the last three pairs that I have purchased. Back pocket and crotch rips. I have two older pair - that are over 11 years old - not a single rip in those older jeans, Levis have really hit rock bottom - what a shame for classic brand. Built up a great reputation - only to ruin it with these crap jeans they now foist on us. Shame on you Levis.
WOW. I am glad someone took time to post this issue. I checked my weight, car seat and office chair... lol Thanks you guys for shearing this post. I am going to switch to "Wrangler" brand. I have seen hardworking guys wear them all the time.
My husband recently lost weight (30 pounds) so he bought a size down. He likes the 559 stretch Levi's 34 x 32 and he is a lifetime wearer of your product. Same issue with the jeans ripping at the back pocket, My husband is lucky that I know how to sew so i can patch them but being a seamstress for 40 years it appears to me that the fabric is a lesser quality over the past 4-5 years and they are more expensive than they have ever been. Do better Levi's! I wear stretch pants myself and have never experienced this issue with any of my pants from other makers, I just finished sewing the hole in a pair I bought him for Christmas 2023
I have had 4 pair of Levi 550 relaxed fit jeans tear along the right back pocket over the last two years. I hadn't even broken them in yet, still had the dark blue color. I'm frustrated with the deteriorating quality over the years. I'll find my next pair at Costco.
