I'm really very unhappy with J.Crew online service.
I do have impression j.Crew company in los angeles hiring unprofessional low level workers to safe money but the company service is really very bed from placings orders to delivery process. They do not sent any confirmation email about orders its been problematic to figure out when your order will be shipped and delivered. Very very poor service. I will stop ordering from this company because of the bed service. They do not communicate with customers after placing orders.
Desired outcome: CHECK YOUR STAFFING. RE EVALUATE YOUR EMPLOYEES .REPLACE BED APPLES TO BRING BACK COMPANY SERVICE GOOD REPUTATION. THANKS FOR GIVING ME THE CHANCE TO EXPRESS MY FRUSTRATION.
Return policy
I tend to start my Christmas shopping in July, when Nordstrom has their Anniversary sale. I just purchased a couple of items from J. Crew and noticed the 30 day return policy. I called customer service to discuss and they said the item has to have been purchased on or after October 11th. So I purchased these items 10 days too early. The customer service rep said it was probably better that I return the items. So that is what I will be doing, returning items and will not be purchasing anything from J Crew again. I hate the price game that is played. As the holidays get closer, the prices are adjusted, so if the item is 30% of, it is still more than when the same item was 30% of BEFORE Oct. 11th.
It’s unfortunate, even after my call, J Crew could not give me a Christmas return policy, after informing them these items were gifts. No…. they rather I return them. I love Nordstorm Anniversary sale, because I can purchase some great gifts, and they allow an exchange or return after the holidays. Wish J Crew had the same love for their customers.
Desired outcome: I would appreciate the ability to return or exchange a holiday gift item, even though it was purchased 10 days outside window. Allow customer service to make a note, send me an email, stating they are returnable.
Corporate Leadership
J Crew

I am so very disappointed at the news from J Crew.
I’ve loyally shopped J Crew for years, from college to now.
It hurts to know this company I’ve loved will directly fund abortions for their employees.
Why would a company that sells clothing get involved in something so decisive, so drastic, so wrong? That is a personal political choice, not the policy of a corporation that desires to survive and grow. Recently, companies like Netflix and Disney have experienced the negative results of going in this direction.
Outside New York the majority of Americans do not support this type of thing. You’ll find that more than half of your customers and employees disagree with this act.
Not only are you likely to lose many, many customers, you’re forcing a majority of your employees to choose if they will leave, or to remain in silent disdain of their employer.
That does not build a pleasant environment.
If this is the quality of decisions I can expect from J Crew, I cannot take part. I will end my relationship with J Crew, never shop there again, and tell everyone I know to do the same.
Virginia Dare
Desired outcome: Abandon involvement in ideological politics

Christmas return policy
My husband purchased a sweater for me for Christmas online on November 20th, 2021. It did not fit well and the color was different than it looked online. I attempted to return it on December 31st (6 days after Christmas) and I was told it was out of the 30 day return window and I would have to spend the credit right while in the store that day. They...

The J. Crew Store at Fashion Place Mall Murray Utah is too dark to see the merchandise. You are alienating your older customer base. The store used to be bright and cheerful but then the light bulbs were changed to really dim ones a couple of years ago. The low light levels make it difficult to see, casting a dreary pall over the store. The lighting is causing this store to look prematurely old and depressed which in turn makes me feel old, depressed, and nearly blind when shopping there. I've asked if they could turn the lights up or change the bulbs out but was told that the corporate office will not let them despite complaints. I no longer shop in this store. Please brighten this store back up.
Desired outcome: Change out light bulbs so people can see. Energy efficient bulbs come in brighter lumens. If that’s not possible considering removing the faux walls in front of the store window where they display clothes in order to let some light in.
customer service
I shopped at your location in Gonzales, Lousiana 11/23 for two Christmas gifts (shirts) for my husband. He ended up not caring for either of them. When he attempted to return them and one of the shirts purchased for 29.99 had been put on clearance and the manager would not authorize an even exchange...my husband ended up paying an additional $20 for the...

I had a very, very bad experience in the above noted store today. I found a sweater dress on one of the models and asked where to find it. The lady said there's none and i asked if i can try the one on model. She said it's ok but need to speak to the manager first. I waited for almost 10 minutes before the manager, an Asian look, old, short woman, finished serving the other customers. No greetings, no smile and told the lady to let me try another totally different sweater dress. I said it's totally different style and it doesn't make sense to try that one. Immediately, the manager furiously dashed to the model and was about to move the dress down with a expression full of impatience and un-reluctance. I said if you think I am troublesome then stop doing that. She's not only rude to customers but also to the other staff. The young lady talked to her in a kind of fearful and humble way. But that "manager"treats both customers and staff in a rude and bossy way. It's a shame for J crew to hire such low qualified person as a store manager. She's ruining the reputation and service of J crew!
manager
My friend works at the J Crew withing the Tannersville outlets. The manager, John, is extremely rude, vulgar and demeaning to not only customers but employees. He talks about customer's appearance and has made myself feel uncomfortable in the past. Furthermore, he uses phrases like "check your crappy apartment for..." and "I'm not [censored]ing around " regularly when speaking to staff. I think, for the sake of your company name, he needs to be reprimanded. I suggest completing employee sensitivity training and customer service training. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks.
Marie.
general point of view about j. crew
I have been a great customer of J.Crew since I moved back from Paris, France in 1997.
The collections were inspiring and a great combination of classic and modern innovation. J.Crew stood by its products and quality. I still wear many vintage, if you want, J.Crew from my wardrobe.
However in the past 6 years I not only have lost interest in the J.Crew collections
but do not understand what it is trying to project as image or who the customer it's targeting. Now I live between Houston and New York City. My purchases are basically $0. At one time I would never walk out empty handed! out of store ! For men J.Crew seemed to have a customer of all ages and now they target American Eagle teens: just look at the catalogues!
Too bad. The reason I am leaving this message is primarily because I now also see
a weak "store"customer service both in New York and Houston- seems there is less motivation and interest customers specially the loyal customers.
The quality of merchandise has dropped and styles seem repetitive . An abundance of purchased products from other brands fill the shelves.
Very sad to see another classic, one time, must have and want US brand go off tracks, appearing to follow the GAP : desperate!

women pant suit
Bought this suit online and a year later the elbow was frayed. Had to pay for elbow patches to be sewn on. Now fast forward to now, approx two years later and discovered that my pants are split too AND I'm at work! I have not gained weight. If anything, I weigh 5-8lbs less than when i bought this size 6. I also don't engage in any high contact sport while wearing a suit so there is nothing that I am doing that would result in this deterioration so quickly! I have two other suits from J Crew that are much older and I don't have any of these issues. I spent a lot of money on this and am disappointed by the extremely inferior quality that J Crew is now pedalling.
I expect some form of compensation from J Crew. This is unacceptable!

rude staff in calgary, cf chinook center mall
Hi,
My mom and I went to J Crew store in Chinook Mall in Calgary last Sunday. I tried one cloth in fitting room and when I was walking out, out of nowhere, this 50 year-old lady in the store kept saying "My god", "Oh my god" behind us. I thought she was a lunatic customer or something, so I did not pay much attention.
And when we picked another shirt and tried on, that same woman knocked our door, really loud and rude, which freaked us out. I opened the door and she said we are not allowed to go to the fitting room together and it's their policy. Okay, fine, I understand. Then didn't you let us know when we walking in the fitting room? I explained to her the reason is my mom came to visit me and she does not speak English, so I feel it's good for me to company her. Plus, we only have one shirt to try on. The woman said, still in a rude attitude, that they are doing this to prevent theft. Excuse me? I am only holding one shirt and you are implying me as a thief?
I can understand J Crew has this weird policy that only allows one person to go into fitting room which no others have. But I can't stand its staff treating customers in such a rude and unprofessional way. I think it's risky for J Crew to let untrained staff working like this because I know I am not gonna to to J Crew ever again and I regret that I did not record her voice so I can fill a lawsuit. I think the woman who works in Chinook Mall is very unprofessional, can't control herself, and very likely a racist. I don't think she is qualified for working in a cloth store which providing services to customers. I feel sorry for J Crew.
service racist?
I went into J crew today holiday shopping. I was looking through a basket full of socks for stocking stuffers. An employee came up and started grabbing the socks out of the small basket I was looking in and started folding them, practically grabbing them out of my hands. There weren't many in the basket in the first place. She said nothing to me, just started folding them and lining them up in front of her. I was angered and told her I thought it was rude. She apologized without any sincerity and said she was trying to make it easier for me to see them. I don't know how pulling them out and lining them up in front of her was attempting to help me in any way. I went next door to Express and happily finished spending $$$ there instead. I'm Asian.
While she shouldn't have grabbed them out of your hands, she did apologize. Aside from that, I have absolutely no idea what your race has to do with this situation whatsoever.
Do you have any proof or evidence that any racism occurred in any form?
racist treatment from employees
I live in New Canaan, Connecticut. It is one of the most affluent towns in the state if not America. I shop regularly at Talbot's, Express, Ann Taylor, A&F, WHBM, I just never bothered to check out J Crew.
I wandered into their shop for the first time in New Canaan. Immediately I was accosted by the J Crew SWAT team. They started shadowing me, following me everywhere, closely watching me like a freaking shadow. The other women were allowed to walk in grab a bunch of outfits, go to the changing room, bring their filthy dogs inside; but I was closely watched and followed. This psychotic old woman name Sarahann would grab the sweaters from my hand; when I was annoyed and told her that I was fine . She insisted on grabbing the sweater and placing it in the changing room. I though what the heck, maybe she is being over ambitious. But then she became more and more paranoid, started following me around, popping out of nowhere and continued to grab all the sweaters I had selected "to keep them in the changing room". When I was ready to try on the outfits, they were not in the [censor]ing changing room! The psycho had kept them back on display.
I just wanted to get hell out of there and went to pay for my sweaters. The psycho asked another shop clerk to handle the registers, came and stood behind me and peeked into my bag! The psycho was trying to catch me red handed with stolen merchandise! Three cheers for inspector psycho.
After literally putting her head inside my bag, she still seemed suspicious of me and reluctantly let me leave the store. I have never been more embarrassed, humiliated and angry.
[censor] you Sarahann. My husband is an engineer. We pay more in taxes than you can ever imagine. Just because I am brown doesn't mean I can only shoplift. FIRE SARAHANN NOW.
customer service and exchange policy
I received a J Crew belt as a gift. The belt still has a tag on it but i don't have a receipt. on Sunday May 29th I went to the J Crew store at the Time Warner Center in NYC to try and exchange the belt which is a small for a medium. They did not have a medium in store. Since I work close by I asked if they could get a medium for me and I would come back. NO - not possible. The clerk kept trying to get me to order a new one and pay for it and then I would have send the old one back because i couldn't just give it back to the store and wait for a credit - which would go back to the original card - which isn't mine because this was a gift! This was way too complicated for a simple exchange. Then when i asked if they could find a medium for me the clerk - who was rolling her eyes - called the Madison Avenue store and said I have 24 hours to go and get a medium belt there. I - the customer - have to go and get it across town. At your price point, J Crew should have someone bring that belt to the Time Warner store for me. This is ridiculous. I will stay away from J Crew from now on.
avoid and don't buy from j. crew!
I am extremely disappointed with J.Crew and must say that these guys have the worst customer service ever. I bought a lovely white top from them and when it arrived it was dirty and was covered with small yellow stains. I contacted J.Crew support and asked for a replacement but they refused and said that they don't do replacements. I asked them can I get a refund and they said no. They claimed that wasn't their fault and that when my top left their shop it was clean.
I tried to wash it and I can't get these stains out! There's no way I can wear the top so I'll just throw it into a trash can (exactly where it belongs). Avoid and don't buy from J.Crew.
stay away
I used to shop at JCrew, Banana Republic, Polo and Bennetton exclusively. However, I refuse to shop at JCrew anymore, they have started having almost all of their garments made in China. And their sizes are no longer what they used to be, I am still the same size I was two years ago. However, JCrew's size medium for men has been cut down to the bare minimum. A medium no longer fits, and I have gained no weight, their clothes are just cut a lot smaller. The size medium from two years ago is still a bit large on me, but today's mediums are to small. Their catalogs lead you to believe all their clothes are made in Europe or the United States. However, once you purchase the garment the label says made in china a lot. There are still a few things made in Europe, but for the most part it's China. They've made no price reduction in their garments, but the quality isn't what it used to be. I've shopped at JCrew for over ten or more years, and it really burns me when I see this. You go into a dept. store and expect top quality from a store that claims to sell only top quality mdse. In my intro. I did mention Banana Republic, Polo and Bennetton, their sizes haven't gotten smaller. SOme Banana and Polo are made in China, but their sizes have remained a constant. Bennetton is made in Italy. Check out JCrew's labels, I personally am not trying to offend any asian americans, but China doesn't have the best reputation for making quality items. My experience with their garments anyway.

I ordered boots from J. Crew in December. They did not arrive with the other items I ordered at the same time. I waited and waited for the boots to show up. In March, I got an e-mail from J. Crew on a Friday saying they had "a question" about my boot order. When I returned to my computer on Monday, there was a second e-mail saying my order had been cancelled. I waited three months for my boots from J. Crew and they could not wait 48 hours for my response! When I called customer service, Roger told me the company's policy is to cancel orders within 24 hours if an e-mail has gone out with a problem. No where on the first e-mail did it say the issue was time-sensitive! Customer Service no longer saw my boots available on the Internet and said they would have to do a store request, no guarantees. I am very dissatisfied with J. Crew and will not shop with them again.
horrible to employees
I am a relative of an employee who has been working for JCrew for several years and they love their job and the company.
But they continue to get screwed, several store mangers (3 have quit in the last 2 years) forcing all remaining employees to work harder and longer hours -for months.
Each time the Area or District managers hire and bring in another unprofessional, unqualified, uneducated Store Manager who takes advatage of the situation and makes the employees lives miserable.
Each time the new Hire Manager comes into the Store and attempts to assert themselves by cleaning house or writing up the loyal employees and each time the Area or District Managers do nothing.
Then within 6-8 months the new hire quits and leaves the loyal hardworking employees in the lurch again.
Seems like the classic definition of stupidity -"doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome".
-"FORMULA FOR FAILURE"
I just quit JCrew (Boca - 2yrs) because of this situation.
collecting a debt
I'm extremely frusrated with this debt collector! I have dealt with this bank many times before and never have i had the same rep everytime i have called. He continues to be rude, condisending, disrespectful and not willing at all to listen. I've tried numersous times to explain to him how i would like to pay my debt to j.Crew but have no money to do so! My husband and i lost our small business in september, i work partime and he and i are looking non-stop for jobs! This guy or this bank doesn't seem to understand what it means when i say i want to pay this off but can't pay the amount they are asking for monthly! I talked to a very nice gentleman in september and he gave me an option to pay 41.00 a month for 3 months and it would be drafted from my checking account, they drafted it only once and now are basically calling me a liar that this is not what happended. They want me to pay 175.00 a month for 12 months and i have explained to them or him over again i cannot afford to do this. I can pay 50.00 a month but he says he will have to take further action...The bank will come after me. What does that mean? I owe 1, 200 dollars to jcrew and this guy says they are coming after me! I have been working on for months now with my mortgage company to save my home and they have been absolutlely wonderful, i owe them 204, 000 dollars. So, do you see my frusration? Who do they really think they are and why do they feel thay have to be so intimidating to get what they want. Did his mother not teach him consideration! Be nice you might get what you need! I would love to give them some money but i can only do what i can only do!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I am in a similar situation but in my case we're talking $200, 00 plus in credit cards, credit lines, loans, personal guarantees, etc. mostly due to my business. I lost my construction company at the end of last year (2008). We have received upwards of 20 phone calls per day since then, to the point we turned the phone off. For awhile I returned calls and explained my situation but I finally got tired of telling the same story to the same as well as different people. My wife also got laid off last March after 32 years with the same company. I have many judgments against me and more coming. i have taken the stance with everyone that we are unemployed with no income so do what you have to do. Also we will be filing for bankruptcy when I can get an extra $2, 500. which doesn't look like anytime soon. The bank may get a judgment against you but you need assets for them to collect. If you are unemployed they can't attach your wages. I doubt that for $1, 200 they will force a sale on your home especially if you don't have much in the way of equity. Same goes for you autos. If you have a brand new car with a lot equity that might be a problem but it sounds as if you don't. The bottom line is do they want to spend a bunch of money going after you for $1, 200? They will eventually in all likelihood turn you over to a collection agency and the harassment will continue for months. But same thing. Do you have assets? If they get a judgment against you they will have to find out who you work for and eventually they probably will. My suggestion is to send a small paymeny every month and if they except it for two or three months it will set a precedence. That will show they are willing to accept your cooperation and will make it a little more difficult to lower the hammer on you. Also somewhere along the line the bank or collection agency will offer to seffle for maybe even more than 50% and accept payments. Remember we are in tough times and a lot of people are in the same boat as you. Doesn't make it a happy time but creditors know they are on an up hill battle. May things turn out well for you and others. There was a book written called "Don't Sweat The Small Stuff". This is small stuff in the big picture of life.
scam
My daughter is conscientious and thoughtful in all that she does. She is getting married in June 2005, and had been looking for some shoes and gifts for her bridesmaids at J. CREW'S website. Incidentally, she spends a considerable amount of $$$ with them annually...at least SHE USED TO! The order was for a total of $140. The shoes did not fit well and the...
