I am a 32 year old white male and I am filing a complaint about a young black female clerk at one of your stores.
At approximately 6:45 p.m. on Friday evening (April 27, 2018), I visited the Mapco Express Mart, located on Winchester Avenue in the Kirby Parkway vicinity of East Memphis. I don't know the address, but the store is located approximately 2 blocks east of Ridgeway and Winchester on the north side of the street.
The young lady working the register was busy talking on her phone with her Bluetooth in her ear. The line grew increasingly long because the clerk was so busy on her phone that she could not adequately accommodate the customers. I was in line behind a middle aged black female, who asked for "$30 worth of gasoline on pump #8." The clerk asked, "What Mapco number/" The customer said again, $30 on pump #8, " obviously not understanding the clerk may have been asking if she had a Mapco card with a Mapco number.
Instead of the young lady clarifying that she was asking if the lady had a Mapco card with a Mapco number or simply taking the lady's $30 and setting pump #8 for that amount, she continued to talk to her party on the phone, all while making the following rude statement right in the lady's face:
"Shut up, little girl; don't say nothing. See she older. She too old to know what I'm talking about." The female grew angry, but it was obvious to all of the other customers in line, who heard this rude clerk, that this was an educated and refined person in her mid to late forties, who could have really torn that store up with that skinny little girl, had she wanted to do so. Certainly, at the very least, she could have made a real ugly scene in retaliation for the clerk's rude remarks.
I immediately wondered how many clerks have been cursed at, beaten, or even killed because of some rude comment they may have made or simply being impatient with customers. This young lady is certainly a candidate for some serious customer service training. If talking on the phone to her boyfriend while waiting on customers, wasn't bad enough, she openly insulted a customer, who could have jerked her over that countered and wiped the floor with her little scrawny body.
If these are the kinds of clerks your company is hiring, the company can get ready for a plethora of complaints or worse; fights between customers and Mapco employees. Most people, tired and irritated after perhaps experiencing a harrowing day at work, are not going to be "turn the other cheek" kinds of people like this female customer was.
134$
I went to Mapco on Donelson pike across street from BBQ PLACE around 5:30-6pm 4/16/2018 and got gas for 15$With my card and bought lottery with cash. Around 10:09 pm fraud protection from my bank ask me about a 134$ transaction from Mapco no I'm at home laying in bed. I don't judge anyone but a thief is not cool. My lawyer will be looking into this don't know how many people got rip off. My Name is Ray. To WHOM CONCERN.
employee praise
I love coming to our new Mapco in Priceville. The workers are always so inviting and courteous. The store is always clean. You all have a great team put together and there's one employee that stands out to me. She is always always cleaning or stocking whenever i come in and i come in almost every morning for coffee. Her name is Stephanie. She is a rockstar for sure. I always tell her not to work too hard when I'm leaving and we always giggle when she replies, "you know i always do that."
employee
Employee was cleaning both the men's restroom and women's restroom at the same time so neither one was available to use. He was very rude to me when I went in I have bladder/medical problems and he was laughing at me. I consider this very unprofessional and rude. His name was Brandon, And I hope this gets resolved I will be going in Monday to speak with the manager John.
the company
I worked at store 3405. The DM for our area is up tight and just not a nice person. They don't pay well they over work us and won't let us take breaks. We had our corporate office visit one day and they treated us like we were SLAVES! Mapco is a terrible company to work for. They don't treat the staff with any resprect. Leaving was the best thing for me. I will never work for them again or return as a customer.
customer service
We came into the store beside the interstate in Rocky Face and was never greeted.. The employee Beth was very rude. Didn't ask for rewards card and didn't want to bag my items. I Had 6 drinks and still had to ask her to bag it.. The store is also not very clean.. I work at a store and our number one thing is customer service and to be she has a lot she needs to work on.
employee
A very rude employee this morning treated us like crap when we asked for coffee lids. She walks up to us and said "I have to where you are now to get them", in a very smart assed tone. Every cabinet she opened that didn't have the lids she kicked shut with force and made them slammed. As she gave my friend his change back she purposely drops it all over the counter
payroll
When I started at mapco 6 weeks ago I was issued an Aline card. Well the first 3 weeks the money didn't go on the card I was issued a paper check that came in the mail 4 days later, and I had to prove my identity by sending an email to ADP with a picture of my social security card and lisence. Then they sent a new card out. That first week I received my money on the card, and now the passed 2 weeks I am getting checks again. I've called ADP and they transfer me around, but still I get no answer, and my manager doesn't seem to know what's going on either. I've only been paid on the card just once. I really need to get paid on Fridays like I am suppose to instead of waiting on the mail to run 4 days later...store # 3615
service!!!
The Mapco in Cross Plains Tennessee is a good place to stop if you get up 30 minutes early and have plenty of time to wait I can't wait until we get another 24 hour gas station in Cross Plains I will never stop there again the cashiers walk around and wait for someone else to help you so they don't have to that Mapco station would be a very good place to hire somebody that really wanted to work and have customer service skills
employee
Went into store this morning between 6:15 am an 6:30 am. Not greeted asked if I could turn lottery tickets in won 7 dollars she rudely replied "it ain't working" kinda a little shockedc as to why this woman is being rude. Initially when I first entered she was taking care of a black gentleman and she was polite and professional to him. I bought a.99 fountain drink and it came up to 1.08 unfortunately any other time I carried change but I didn't have any on my person so I said i'm sorry let me go check my car she was just looking at me has if I killed her best friend... So to make matters worse no change in my car... Head back in apologized and shedding respond or anything so I asked was she having a bed morning she snapped by no are you... I'm like I apologize for the inconvenience she replied your sorry i'm not why should I respond.. I then said see your having a bad morning and I walked out has she started yelling I said have a great day! The store was located at 28q3 duckerson pike. I love coming to and patronizing your stores but after this I highly doubt I will do so anymore
hours of operation
On 10/27/17 @ 3:35am EST I ran out of gas at the EBrainerd location on Graysville Rd. In Chattanooga, TN. The door was locked and no one was inside. While waiting a worker for the Chattanooga Times Free Press showed up to stock Friday mornings papers and had to leave. Two other individuals came as well and left to buy gas elsewhere. I can be reached at any time via [protected]. Thank you.
automatic gas pump
Incident Occurred at Mapco Mart...1402 Glenn Blvd SW, Fort Payne, AL 35967
The automatic gas pump was defective on this pump...I went inside to fix coffee and the pump did not shut of when my car was full. Instead, I happened to look outside when I went to pay for my coffee and gas was spewing everywhere. By the amount I saw on the screen, it was a lot of gas. So what should have been a $20.00 gas run turned into a $57.00 mess. When I told the attendant about the pump not shutting off as they are supposed to, he responded with "Well did you put something under the handle?". So overall, I am not happy with this situation and would like my money back for the defective pump. Not all $57 because $20 should have been in my car but the rest could have been prevented had the pump worked how it should have.
The incident occurred at roughly 4:15 am if someone would check the cameras and transaction records to verify my claim.
a customer did some real racist acts towards me.
The first time I meet this lady at mapco on Winchester Drive in Huntsville Alabama, she helped a customer before me and spoke happily, when it was my turn she didn't speak tell me my price or let me know how much my change was. I then asked her how much was my change, she the pointed to her mouth. U said now u can't talk you need to purk up. Then said well sir I'm sick... this time I stood in line and she clearly help the customer behind me. After she finished helping her she then walked away from me while I'm standing in line. I say really this is the second time you have done me this way.. her boss comes over and tries to justify why she did that. I tell her you can't justify for her these are her actions.. she then get to saying we'll all this stuff on tv, somebody dying yesterday, etc. I said that doesn't have anything to do with me you still have a job to do.. I work in retail and you can't pick and choose who you want to deal with. 95% of there job is to speak to customers and be polite. I felt real bad because I'm a black man and she is white, I'm and outstanding person, I just look how I do.. Then tells me sir what should I do.. if that was me at my job I would have got in trouble or fired... it's not acceptable. This has made me very upset and made me feel real low as a person and a human being.

coffee
I stop in Mapco everyday Sunday-Thursday at 12:30am and again at 3:30am for coffee, it is only when Paul works that there isn't ANY coffee. I do understand that the urns have to be cleaned, but all of them being cleaned at the same time, is what I do not understand. He does say when I walk through the door that he can make me a fresh pot, but these are my break times and I do not have the time to wait. I feel that no matter what time of day it is, there should always be some coffee. This is the Mapco located at 1582 Hwy 72 E, Huntsville, Al.
customer service
The associate Asia at this Mapco (store #3195) was very rude to me. I went in to buy cigarettes and waited for her to be done with the customer before me, and then I walked up to the register. I guess Ms. Asia was more concerned about her phone and texting her friends than assisting anyone, because when I walked up she just stood there for over 45 seconds texting before she even looked up at me. Once she finally found a moment to give me her slight attention, I asked for the cigarettes, she got them and walked back to the register. She rung them up and as I was swiping my card, she started texting again. The transaction was approved and I stood there waiting for my receipt, but of course she couldn't have known that because she was texting on her phone once again. She finally noticed I was still there, looked at me with a look of hatred, and said "you want a reciept?" I said yes I do. She handed it to me, I said thank you, she looked back at her phone and said "mhmm". This is probably the worst customer service I have ever experienced at a Mapco, and really makes me not want to return.
customer service
My boyfriend and I stopped at the Mapco in Hampton Cove, AL. I have always loved the stores and my rewards card is just amazing. I had received my birthday points and was getting two bags of chips. The boyfriend wanted a coffee because the deal was $.99 with my card. I told the cashier we were separate. He didn't hear me and that was fine but what should have been a little over a $1 was over $2 because the coffee ended up being the freebie instead of the chips. My boyfriend had to go dig for the extra change and while away the cashier was extremely rude to me. He told me that I didn't know how to properly use my card, talked to me like I was a complete idiot, and allowed a line of three to four accumulate behind me. Now I work at a gas station myself and to be courteous I asked him if he could suspend my transaction so he could wait on other customers. He told me he had to wait because he wasn't going to do the paperwork for a void (still being rude). I said no hun, can you not do a suspend and he looked at me and in the worst tone yet asked what a suspension was. I don't know if Mapco registers have this feature and they may not but as a customer I feel as though this behavior is unacceptable. I felt talked down to, shamed, embarrassed and awkward. I turned and apologized to tbe people behind me and even though I had tried to allow them their service, the cashier made me feel like the issue to this problem. What was once one of my favorite places to stop is now a store I will never go back to because of the gentlemen working on Thursday night.

customer service
My husband and I stopped real quick to the mapco gas station on sunday, september 3, 2017 at around 3:15 to pick up some quick snacks before we headed back on the road again. The cashier (Who's name was beth) was extremely rude to my husband. She huffed her breath when my husband had asked her if he could put his number in for his mapco rewards. The woman didn't even say have a good day or anything and I was the one who had to say it. People like her put a bad impression for the company. Hire better motivated and happy people! This happened at the mapco located in dalton, ga 30721 on 2000 shugart rd! We will not be coming here again until that beth woman is gone!
wrongful termination
The store is located at central and cooper, store number 3261 mangers name is Kelly Morgan! She fired me because my father died and because she couldn't work around my schedule. I know my rights! She really didn't want me working there in the first place, the district manager hired me cause he knew I was a great worker. She went and hired two new people while I was grieving my father, what kind of sick individual would do that, Kelly Morgan, that's who. She would purposely make me late for my other job, purposely schedule me to be at Mapco knowing dang gone well I was scheduled at my other job as well. She did not like me at all. Then the only time I would hear from here was about cigarette counts and making coffee for customers! Then she called me 10xs, followed by 2 text asking can I come to work at 6a, the calls came in at 5a, I'm like I haven't heard from you in 2 weeks my dad hasn't been in the ground that long and you wanna harass me now! Don't ask me to come to work just to cover your tail now!
gas/food
I came into the bryant location on 8/22/17 . This will be the last day I come into this establishment . The manager was very dry and rude poor customer service and seemed to have an attitude he should not be in a establishment with such a attitude . Then the cashier name Jan or jenn was cursing at another employee who was ringing my items and gas up . If this is what mapco has to offer I'll pass.
employees
On Sunday August 20th I went into the location on Helton drive and the employee decided to start telling me I owed him.money from 4 years ago not knowing what he was talking about he calls his wife and she tries to tell a different story. While he has customers he is threatening to come to my house and do something. If this is how your employees are going to act then I will not be back at any location. I will give my business to shell.

Me too I was refused service and I’m a local resident. This is [censored] when my daddy gets done with y’all he gone name that gas station after me. You can’t have black employees in a white town or white employees in a black town if they refuse to sell to the other race I mean it’s 2018 that’s illegal and raciest and I’m pissed.
Right i just went to a mapco in smyrna and the white female cashier was so rude had a white female friend standing there beside the counter carrying on a conversation and rolling her eyes at me didn't ask if i had a mapco number, if i wanted my receipt, or if i needed a bag for the items that i had just purchased smh she really didn't want to scan my items smh everything was cool until she started working there
