I just bought two packs that are labeled "Marlboro special select 100's" and there is no gold ring around any of the cigarettes. Since the name has changed I've bought many of packs and there has been a gold ring. I believe the packs I bought have been mislabeled by the company because these taste just like Marlboro blacks. Since the name has changed to "Special select" they suck. Marlboro special BLEND use to be the only cigarette I would smoke but now these "select" cigarettes are no good.

I have smoked Marlboro Gold 100s Special Select by its original name for years. When the name changed, the quality did too. They are not packed consistently and the flavor varies . They are much harsher now. When I light them with a lighter, several cigarettes have "flared" and singed my hair. The cigarette goes out in seconds if I am not smoking it.

I agree about the Special Select. I went back to buying the original Marlboro red, by the box. Still the real deal. Average about $5.75 a pak in my town.

So I just bought 2 packs of Marlboro black menthol 100s. They taste exactly like the special blend menthol 100s. They have hold rings and the filter is different. There are holes in the filter when there was none before. Also the Marlboro lable is blue, for menthol and grey for reds, and attached to the filter for the black 100s. The ones I have purchased have not. The pack is unusual as well. It has regular foil. Blacks have black foil.

Ok. Is it me, or does anyone else notice a really strange smell when smoking these? It’s almost like a formaldehyde smell. I didn’t notice this till about a year ago.

And. The paper almost seems like it flakes off. I’ll be sitting trying to enjoy a smoke and all of the sudden I have fiery paper landing on me. Was there a cigarette change or just a name change? Please change back.

Just wanted to ask.
