I was told that Andersen made the top-of-the-line windows but to me it seems as if they are anything but, mediocre at best. After my brand new windows were installed, I noticed that the wood was of such cheap quality and had many splits and nicks in it. Within 3 years both of my storm doors were rotting from the inside and destroying the aluminum. The bottom of the door was not covered in aluminum and the water accumulated in the sweep holder which rotted the door bottom. Water also entered the window area. Customer service is a joke as I found reviews dating to 2011 with this problem. Company clearly never did anything to fix the issue.

Sliding glass patio doors
Salesman came out ad showed me renewal by anderson product brosures. Had instalation done and parts were missing. The door started pinching and would get stuck. These are not renewal by anderson doors. Got financed by greensky. When i call the number for renewal by anderson they give a different number to call. Suspose to be glide free for life. Had a guy come out and spray grease on the bottom rail. Dorr again binds. $6500 for a window with no warrany and no value.

Patio Door Repair
I recently requested a repair for my patio doors through Andersen. Unfortunately, the wrong parts were sent to me. While I was reimbursed for these incorrect parts, the company did not fully cover the labor costs. Since the error was due to Andersen sending the wrong components, resulting in a futile trip by the technician, I don't believe I should be held responsible for this charge of about $140.

In 1996 we built a new house and put all Anderson windows in. 28 windows total. Now 27 years later we have 10 lower frames that are rotten. The others are fine. They were guaranteed for 40 years. I always thought Andersen was a reputable company. But unfortunately I was wrong. I had all windows in my home replaced by Renewal by Andersen 10 years ago thinking that they were the same quality as Andersen. When the installers arrived,I had concerns and documented them and contacted Andersen. Recently we decided to upgrade the siding in the front of the house. Upon installation, the siders discovered severe water damage at a double window. I took pictures, called Renewal and forwarded photos of the damage. I asked for an inspector to come to see the damage,. They refused saying the damage was from faulty siding. They did this based on looking at photos. No one in management would talk to me. Several contractors looked at the window and said it was installed incorrectly. They also said Renewal windows should never have been installed. Andersen New Construction windows should have been used. This mistake cost us $6000. Why would Andersen support a subsidiary that is so low level. I’ve lost total confidence in Andersen.
Windows
Apparently not made for the Colorado altitude, Need to have different Plugs installed. Why not just do this during the installation process so you don't have to have another work person come out. Takes a long time for person to come out and change weather stripping "Plug" into windows. Not convenient to open. Especially if you are older and have Arthritis. no place to push up. Rounded top edge. Just not happy with windows. Price. quality and sale experience. The TV ad is full of misconceptions. Down right lies. High pressure sales people. I wanted front door but was not told they did not sell doors. If I was told this in beginning I would have said good bye. Then had to pay $2500.00 for a storm door to fit the door. No choice in financing. In fact the finance company is only B rated with BBB. Just short of fraud.
Desired outcome: I wish I could have the old windows back. I also wish I would have never called Andersen in the first place.Nothing you can do anything about.
Slide door frame finish and window lock

I am a return customer because I had a very pleasant experience with your products in my winter home Henderson, NV.
That’s why we had the windows and slide door replaced in my NJ home. The work was done on Dec. 7 last year.
We found the work done here has no comparison with the quality and finish I had in Hendersin NV!
Your customer service was professional to respond to my complaint, but we left to the west right after the work was done.
We are finally got a chance to return to Somerset home and your technician was here right away to fix the problems I complained.
Unfortunately, the frame on the slide door was hard to fix due to many cracks and poor workmanship according to the report of your repair person!
Also there is still one of the new windows can’t be locked (I have tried very hard to close one of them and locked it).
I feel ashamed of letting my neighbors know the quality I got after I spent so much on it!
Please have your technician come to fix ASAP because we will be out of town on 3/26 again for a month.

2 sliding doors
I purchased a home with all new Andersen Windows and Doors. the windows have operated as would be expected. The two sliding doors have been a constant problem. I have had 4 homes built and lived in a couple that I inherited none with Andersen. Never have I seen such a troublesome sliding door (s).
Both do the some thing they hang up halfway on the track. I have contacted the installer and they did an adjustment which was better but not satisfactory. I was charged for the call. I have contacted the Corp. and the assistant told me these doors need a seasonal adjustments and periodic (regularly) wheel replacements. I told her we added a 3 season room with a slider and I have never lubricated nor adjusted this slider and it is 6 yrs old plus. This is a vinyl door not a wooden one which Andersen touts. I would not recommend this product to anyone. Them seem to have an inferior track which does not hold it's shape since the problem comes and goes but is never as smooth as my other non Andersen door. The factory is no help at all. They just put the blame on lack of Maintenance and want you to pay for new wheels and adjustments regularly. Not a a good company in my option.

Egress door
I have filed a complaint with Better Business Bureau #[protected] - Please see attached documents (I could not include in this complaint because the service work orders show pictures and address of our home) has attempted to resolve this issue since installation on 5/6/2016 with 21 attempts. An explanation new hinges will resolve the issue that has been ongoing for 7 years after 21 attempts of not installing new hinges is "possible" but the fact remains that 7 of our 10 warranty years have expired and a request for continued warranty after hinges installed has meet with no assurance/reply. The statement that replacing would be wasteful is insulting. Why would Renewal by Andersen have come to resolve issue 21 times and not done so? The word "wasteful" is wasted on this explanation to homeowner as they hired a reputable national firm to install a quality door. The first hinges ordered by Renewal by Andersen were the wrong ones; attempted installation in January 2023- new ones have been ordered and are supposed to be installed in April 2023 thus leaving the homeowner with more time expired from Warranty and continued access to their home and time for resolution of this issue. Homeowner is requesting replacement of door with new warranty at this juncture as no resolution has been offered for continuation of warranty after - in good faith - 7 years and 21 attempts and added insult a premium cost was paid for this egress door of $13,308.00.

Bottom sash rotting
Andersen double hung Low E glass windows were purchased for new build in 2005. The lower window sash is rotting on several of the windows. The rot issue is on the INSIDE of the house, not the outside. The outside is clad but but the inside is wood, the water must be getting underneath the window which would indicate the seals are not working.
I have called the local distributor and they said rot is not warrantied. Can you send an Andersen Rep to look at the issue?
It's a serious problem.
Desired outcome: Would like the rotted windows replaced at no cost to me.
Exterior window installations.
The whole install experience has been terrible. We had to manage the project from start to finish, chase down window deliveries, install dates, then when they finally came they were short a window and that still has not been supplied. The windows they did show up with and install, we expected more for the very high cost of the Andersen product, but I guess as your advertisement states, you are the only one to blame, so here we are are? I hope you will agree this is not your best work, but I can't imagine I am the only one who has experienced this. The cover guards they use to hide gaps was broken in places and looks like crap, they slapped caulking on that my child could have done better, the very large bay window seal to the glass and frame was installed with a droop in it, really noticable and just not right for the cost, the kitchen window looks great until you get closer and see all caulking trails and lumps. I sent this to the sales team and the retention specialist I was contacted by and they ghosted me since, I asked the same Paula Thompson Retention Specialist/[protected]@renewalcarolinas.com for an escalation POC and got no response still. I want to someone clean the install up and asked if doing so would void the warranty or something, again no response. We are so glad we split the purchase in two, and only have to deal with the four large windows your company installed and not the other 11 we have pricing for.

October 4th 2022 I ordered about 20 windows of which 6 were casement windows. The windows will not ship until March 2023. As we were building, we realized we could get bigger windows (December 2022) . I asked my dealer to cancel 4 casement and replace them with 4 larger double hung. The dealer said that Andersen wont do it. I called Andersen. They said their policy is that cancelation can happen al long as it is not within 30 days of the lead date. We have months before the load date. Andersen sent me back to the dealer who sent me back to Anderson. I asked Andersen to let the dealer know your rules. They said they couldn't. Today Andersen told me to not call them because they cant do anything and they will not discuss this with me. The Dealer is willing to make the change if Andersen says its ok. Andersen says its OK but wont tell the dealer. Bottom line is I have to spend over $3000 more and then have 4 casements that i cant use. terrible customer service

Storm door case #[protected]
Purchased storm door from Home Depot in Carlilse Pa. in Date purchased 05/20/22. Door was installed per your instructions. After installing the door is was in need of a new latch mechanism Anderson called new latch was sent out and replaced. Next the trim had to be replaced due to pieces that came with the door were found to be defective new parts sent. After multiple calls to Home Depot for assistance and multiple calls Anderson Help nothing has been resolved! the door still won't latch. Please tell me how someone can look at a picture and say the door was hung wrong? Every time I spoke with someone at your help center you could tell they were reading from a pre printed check list! And what country I was speaking to I don't know bit the were not knowledgable of the problems that were described to them, even the home depot associate said the same thing. Here it is November and still no resolution! Here is a door that doesn't come with a strike plate and uses the edge of the door frame as a strike plate. Personally I think its a poor design, just another way to cut costs. And the video I sent to the help desk, only reply was to check to check the closer speed adjustment screw! Currently I have the door set to close faster in hopes of the door latching.
Desired outcome: repair or replace door or find a resolution to the problem.

Serial number [protected] P/N 902522 page 8 bottom left says to attach the door closure to the predrilled holes. No holes were drilled on the top or bottom of the door. This door has two door closures. replace the bottom and top of the door or the entire door if it is not possible to change the door top and bottom

Andersen double hung windows
I have 18 Andersen windows, 5 of which have rotted on the inside at the bottom left of the bottom sash. These 5 are on the south and west sides from which most of the weather comes. All windows are of '95 '97 vintage.
Andersen knocked 40% off of MSRP for 2 of the newer windows, all of which are out of warranty for a total of $1,300 for the 5 replacements. I got a price for all 5 of $1,000 from a local distributor.
I filed a small claims case to recoup my cost. I live in NE Ohio and Andersen hired a law firm from SW Ohio to fight me. I just found out they won by getting the case dismissed. Seems out of warranty leaves manufacturers in the clear. I thought a warranty implied the least amount of time to expect durability. Guess it actually means the maximum amount of time. Out of warranty, out of luck.
I also have Hurd brand windows and one of them is in the midst of the 5 Andersens. It is fine and a few years older.

French Doors
About twenty years ago we used Anderson French Doors as part of a kitchen remodel. The doors were professionally installed by a licensed contractor. They were pricey but beautiful. They are not near a source of water other than seasonal rain. There is extensive dry rot on the bottom of one door. When we called Andersen we were told that "The warranty period has ended". I'd add a picture, but it's just too heartbreaking.
We're very disappointed in the product. Should doors not last longer than twenty years?

10 series fullview retractable storm door
We bought this door, about 1 year ago. It has always leaked, where by you can not see out the kitchen door or the storm door, because of the leaking. Now the
NEW SmoothControlTM Plus Close System is having an issue. We have lubricated the door hinge and this did not help. The storm door will not close on

Andersen bay window
A few years ago we purchased and installed an Andersen bow window, it was awesome. This year we ordered an Andersen bay window. It has been a total nightmare from beginning to end. We gave the salesperson at Builders First Source our rough opening to order the window. The window was 1 1/2' narrower on each side due to the plywood bottom on window. (Pictures below) We had to use wider trim. Then we noticed that the left side lock jamb was cracked in multiple places. (Pictures below) We contacted BFS to order a new jamb. When it arrived, it was covered with spots that could not be removed. (Picture below) We are using the cracked jamb as it looks better than the spotted. When the windows are cranked open, there are 2 screws sticking up through the wood on the outside of the window. (Pictures below) Not very safe, don't know why they are protruding the frame. When we went to put the handles on each side, the right side lock bezel worked perfectly, but the left side fell apart. (Picture below) We again contacted BFS to order another one for us. Hopefully it arrives undamaged ! Overall, our experience with Andersen windows has been horrible and we are very disappointed.

Our door was ordered in April of 2021, as of September 2022 I have finally received a new door after numerous calls to Renewal by Andersen. I have asked for compensation as it has taken so long to receive this final door (hopefully). I have made numerous phone calls to this company and have yet to speak to anyone with any kind of authority. General managers and office personnel have taken my calls. I never received a call from anyone as to when my new door was ordered or when it would be delivered. The first patio door was defective, they moved some hinges around and said they ordered new weather sealing, but that never happened. They ordered a new panel door and installed it, but the same thing happened. They then ordered a new door and it opened on the wrong side, that door would not lock from the outside and I was told it was not a safety issue. The new door was ordered and installed in September. The installer made modifications to the door and hopefully, my warranty will cover it if it does the same thing the other doors did. Please see photos below.
Andersen Series 400 windows
We had all the windows in the house replaced in 2013, including a three-part bow/picture window. The picture part of the bow window has always shown condensation and on the outside frame shows black streaks under the window. Last year an Andersen representative came around and said the window was "delaminating" and we should call in a warranty claim. When we did, we were told the problem was not covered under the warranty, only the glass was covered. So basically the Andersen warranty is worthless if the only thing they cover is the glass. The glass in the bow part does not condensate and there is no black streaking on the outside.
Desired outcome: We would love to have the bow/picture window replaced. Barring that, we would like a refund (even if prorated) on the cost of the bow window, which was $1261 in 2013.
Andersen Patio Screen Door Plastic Clips
In May of 2022 I had Andersen Windows and Doors come out and inspect my Patio Screen Door. It was missing one of the plastic clips and I was told it would be ordered and would arrive August 5, 2022 and someone would come out and install it. No one has came or called and I have left 3 voice messages and still have not received any return call. In my opinion Andersen Windows and Doors does not care about their customers after they made the sale. Their voice message states they will return call the next business day which they have not done with me. I guess I expect too much from a company I spent $20.000.00+ with. What a joke for a business in Alaska!
Desired outcome: Return my calls and do what you stated you would do! Stop making excuses and realize that children do that, not a business!
