Hanson installed six windows and has had to come back over 10 times to fix or replace at least three of them. The initial installers left a huge mess they were very rude. To correct the initial issue, they sent the exact same installers who again left a mess and still had issues with the windows/screens/installation. The issues were: windows sashe...

AWFUL. That’s Hansons. If I could rate Hansons zero, I would. Do NOT sign a contract with them for anything — they’re corrupt — liars, horrible workmanship, and the worst customer service — from the top down. They contract lowest bidders for roofing. I had a fine roof, and they installed inappropriate, damaged materials. They caused leaks. They attempted to...

My contract or warranty with Hanson's windows
Has nothing in there saying that they would not come out if I don't send in pictures of my problems with my windows. If they do come out and I don't send in pictures they charge $100.00
Per window. Now how do I send in pictures of my windows sliding down after I open them. By video if they only want pictures. I have 4 windows and 2 of them are pulling in cold air. So I take a picture of it than tell them. When I first got my windows the slider of the window flipped up I told them what happened and the man came out and fixed it. I was never charged $100. For it. NOW
They say this other thing. Ok my contract doesn't say I have to take pictures
I ask her when did this new thing about picture started. She said a few years now I told her well am under the old contract and mine does not say that. This is not right.

Roofing and installation
I had them do a roof about 6 years ago, recently had my home resided. Upon removal of the fascia revealed water damaged fascia boards due to their crews improperly cutting tbe drip edge allowing water and ice to get behind and cause the fascia boatds to rott. They are going to replace drip edge and repair some shingles wbich we were told would withstand 90 mile per hour winds.ha ha. When speaking to the service rep and explaining what went on he told me to call my home owners insurance and file a claim. High priced shotty service.over 24000.00 for a roof their contractors improperly install stuff causing damage which we were assured that any damage caused from their installation or produxt would be fully covered and they would repair or replace. What a joke . I would never recommed these people side or roof a chicken coop. A lot of tom foolery. Their installers were a joke, they left me such a mess. I was picking up nails for months after they installed the roof .
Desired outcome: I want compensation for replacement of damaged fascia boards labor and materials
Shed roof replacement
No one from the company has been helpful in resolving anything. They spoke to me all day, passing me around through phone calls. The lower customer care reps were a lot nicer than management though. They spoke to me belittling & not doing anything to resolve my frustrations or concerns.
The one installer here told me he is only contracted through Hansons, & works for two other roofing companies. He was nicer than the majority of the actual Hanson employees I spoke to. He helped me resolve the situation to a degree, but no one from the company offered any resolutions or reconciliation.
I'm in the process of getting my sheds roof replaced. I was initially scheduled for service on Monday, June 19th & could expect the crew to arrive between 8-12. I woke up to my Ring Doorbell going off around 7am. A crew of about 5 men were there, & the supervisor was wearing grills on his upper teeth. This all immediately gave me red flags, wondering why the company is representing themselves like this during service after sending a very well-dressed, on time sales rep to my house prior? He asked me about the dumpster & materials not being there & told him I have no idea. He said he'd call his boss & see what's going on; that they have another job to go do but they might be able to come back the same day if its still supposed to be delivered today. Or if not, that they could come back out over the weekend to do it; that it would only be a 2-3 hour job. I go back in my house while he figures that out with his supervisor, & they drove off with no communication. I eventually get a call from a scheduling person & was told that materials should be delivered on Wednesday, the 21st but since its a third-party delivery that they dont always have accurate delivery times. Mind you, when I was called to schedule & asked what's the soonest date they're available for install, I was told the only time frame she could give me was that it'd be the following week, & someone would reach back out. I told them on the phone today how inconvenient that was, & was told, "You know you don't have to be there for install, right?" When I'm being quoted $6.2k+ (for a shed roof that's less than 5 squares of materials), I want to be home to watch the strangers in my yard do the proper job & be able to take pictures along the way if necessary. Luckily, I did because this whole experience gets worse.
It's now Wednesday morning, & I hear my ring motion notification going off alot. I see someone walking around the now dropped off dumpster in my driveway & throw myself together to see why someone is creeping around my yard. I go outside & theres one man with his van parked out front. He asked me about my service but asked me if I booked through a different company. I asked, do you mean Hansons? & tell him that the materials havent been dropped off yet. He said he'd call his boss & see what's going on, but that he may be able to get started. He eventually set up his ladder in the backyard & proceeded to lean on the ladder, scroll on his phone, & hit a weed pen. (I know the difference between a nicotine & a weed pen. I don't judge him too harshly, but I think it's very unprofessional)
Materials eventually got delivered & once the roofs underlayment was exposed, I could see rotten wood. I stopped him when nailing plywood down & called the company on why materials are not here for those rotten spots that need replacing; & was told that they don't do that. No remedy for the situation.
He pulled off the drip edge & the rotten wood became 100x worse. The installer said he'd fix it on the side b/c they werent getting back in touch. I kept calling & they said theyll reach out to him and he'll fix it because it is very damaged now.
He said hed be back "at 8-8:30, maybe". & left materials in my front yard that I moved around back to not get stolen. + I noticed the wood was bowed.
I look online and see there's a 40% off Summer Special that I was not offered to begin with, or even as reconciliation for how awful this experience has been.
Desired outcome: Replaced rotten wood, job complete and clean up after, & 40%+
sales
We had a visit from the sales guy on May 7. He went over the product we were interested in and he got our information and said he was not going to run our credit but just to see what options we had. About a week later all the financing options was stuff that we were not interested in and we wanted to go a different route as we do not need siding on the whole house. However he ran our credit through two different companies send my credit score down for a product i didn’t even want.
Desired outcome: credit inquiries reversed if possible
Siding
July 2014 Hansons salespersons sold us insulated siding at premium cost. Installed in Aug 2014 (in the rain). Was horribly warped and torn off in Jun 2016 they said it was due to the premium insulated siding and replaced with cheaper non insulated in June 2016, which we received no rebate. The new siding is just as bad as the first job done. Hansons would not reply or let us post pics. Now they want 99.00 to come look at it! Our neighbors even tell us how ugly it is. Phone tag with them goes on and on.
Desired outcome: We paid full price and only want the workmanship we were promised.
Roofing
I had a new garage attached to my house. We had Hansons install the roof in February. They came out and did the install at the beginning a major snow storm that had high winds and over 12” of snow. Needless to say it was rushed and some things were not done properly. There were loose shingles, exposed nails, and the drip edge looks like it got bent up in the wind then they installed it and now looks terrible. There were also spots where the drip edge was installed incorrectly. You can see every spot the metal bent and they tried to bend it back. I called them to have it fixed. They told me to send pictures to a number they gave me, so I did. After a couple weeks of not hearing from them I called to see where we were at with it. They had someone come out within a week of me calling. All they did was put nails in the drip edge where it was bent and installed incorrectly. Now it looks even worse and in my 15+ years of experience in construction the nails in those drip edges will rust out and create ways for water to get behind the facia. They caulked the loose shingles down rather than nailing them, but they didn’t put anything over the exposed nails. I tried to call and all they told me was that they wouldn’t do anything about it until it started leaking and causing more issues. Now I have bent metal flashing that looks terrible and can be noticed from the road and exposed nails on the roof that will leak water into my garage.
Desired outcome: I want the flashing on the north gable replaced and the exposed nails covered
Roofing
Nov 2021- roof replaced. There were so many nails around my yard I lost count. Dec 2021 parts of said roof on two of the 3 structures blow off due to faulty installation. Debris all over the entire neighborhood, nails all over after we just cleaned up what was left after install, shingles in flowerbed, yard, streets. Not to mention the shingles that blew of are all broken into jagged pieces really making me question their quality. Dec-May 2022 after numerous calls to the company, visits from "managers" to my property to take photos, I sit and wait. July 2022 roof is scheduled to be repaired, contractor shows with no materials to repair, has to return that weekend. July 2022-current day I fight with them to get the interior water damages caused by bare patches of roof paid for. They sent out someone to look at the damages, scheduled and cancelled so many times I missed days of work waiting around for no one to show. He acted like they would cover damages and told me to get estimates myself because the company doesn't do interior sheetrock. After all of that headache and missing more work to get contractor estimates, they force you to use your homeowners insurance for any and all comprehensive damages caused by the poor installation. In the contract they make it read like that is only during the installation process not after work is completed. I only recently was told that Hanson's subcontracts out the installation and it is not performed by "them" so you they have no liability over the damage. I paid close to $30,000 for the roof to wait 7 months for repairs and a year plus to be told the truth about how they work. Do not waste your time or money thinking you have a lifetime warranty and use someone local who cares about their reputation.
UPDATE: they attempted to force me into an agreement just to re-turn my insurance deductible that THEY AGREE TO IN THE CONTRACT prior to installation. Example:This will serve as a full and final settlement for any ,and all alleged interior issues that may have arisen out of the above install contract # ***** between 1-800-Hanosns LLC, and ****
have an amicable settlement to a disputed matter.
1-800-hansons will provide a reimbursement of $ for documented deductible for the alleged property damage ARISINNG OUT OF CONTRACT ****
home owners insurance quote.
This agreement is a private matter and considered a non-disparagement agreement between all parties.
Please reply I/We agree.
Needless to say I will not reply with anything other than pointing out the fact they are in breach of their own contract by not reimbursing the deductible.
Desired outcome: repayment of PTO that was used for no shows and appointments with no purpose. $1000 Deductible they owe, not the contractor they subcontracted since it is stated in their contract that they will re-pay it.
Windows
We agreed to have our picture window replaced by Hanson's window they claimed it would be installed by the end of August early September, cool we thought sounds easy enough...Wrong, it is now almost Thanksgiving and when we finally got tired of them and found a new company to not only install the picture window but the rest of the house as well we canceled our order with them. Due to their incompetence and due to the fact that they couldn't even give us an answer as to when our windows would be in the state not to mention installed. Now this underperforming window company is now going to threaten us with legal action more than 6 months later when it is they who (no pun intended) missed their window. If I were in the market ever again I'd go with All Weather Seal they are friendly, courteous, and most importantly PROMPT...and frankly set the bar for all other companies to be compared to.
Desired outcome: Refund of my time
Cancelling a windows order, lack of help by Hansons.
As a consumer, I should have the right to cancel a product if I do not want the product. I should not be forced, strong-armed, bullied or manipulated into buying a product I do not want. As per the call I made to Hansons, I wanted to inquire if there was any way that we could move the install date up because we were trying to schedule a time to install the carpet and LVP. No, carpet was NOT scheduled for mid-August. Windows were scheduled for mid-August and that didn't happen. Hansons was taking so long that I wanted to see if we could move the install date up so that we could schedule the carpet and LVP after that. While we were waiting for our windows to be installed, my husband accepted a job offer in another state. We are moving now and we no longer want or need the windows that should have been installed in August but were not. I have called Hansons multiple times to cancel this order. I was told that only a manager could cancel the order. The first time I called Hansons to cancel this order I was told a manager was, "Speaking to a customer and would call me back." No manager called me back. The second time I called Hansons to cancel this order I was told the manager was, "Out sick." Again, no manager called me back. I contacted my Hansons rep to get help with this matter and finally, a manager called us back. From the beginning of the call, he was ready to fight, very rude, hard, cold, argumentative and very difficult. We explained that we no longer wanted or needed the windows anymore because we are going to be moving at the end of September and we will not even be here anymore to enjoy the windows. [edited] was unreceptive, unapologetic, spoke over the top of me, was extremely unhelpful, rude and unwilling to help. He said they could not cancel the order. Again, As a consumer, we should be able to cancel an order if we choose to cancel an order. We explained our situation and no one at Hansons is cancelling this order. We should not be forced to buy a product we no longer want or have any need for. We should not be bullied, strong-armed, manipulated or intimidated to buy a product we choose not to buy. THIS IS NOT RIGHT. This is not ethical business practice. We no longer want or need these windows and we just want to cancel the order.
Desired outcome: To have our order cancelled today, September 7, 2022.
I got Hansons to install 7 windows. They came in September of 2022. After tearing out 3 windows the installers send all windows we’re not wide enough. They came back about 6 months later and 3 windows were broken but installed them anyways. Said they would be back to replace them. It is now January 16th and have not been back. I have contacted them and they told me they were unaware that they were broken. So we’re still waiting and thinking about taking them to small claims court. Wish me luck.
I got 7 windows installed last summer and all 7 were either broken, or improperly installed with many manufacturers defects as well. Almost a year later we sit with the same 7 windows and absolutely nobody returns a phone call, not a manager or even the DM at that. We will also very likely end up in court as well.
siding installation
A very good salesperson sold us siding. He was good at his job and knew how to sell. We are paying over $50, 000 for this siding and expect it to be perfect for that money. Well, originally we were told it would take until Nov or Dec. Then we received an email stating our siding was ordered and in. They scheduled to come and install and canceled on that day. We received more emails and text messages with new dates and times. Three times, when the date arrived no one showed and they canceled again. The siding was delivered and put in our driveway. So we are not able to park there. It has rained several times and the boxes are getting weak and starting to collapse. I called the scheduling department for installation and let them know how irritated we are that they keep canceling and we have to park in our grass because the siding is just sitting there. I was told the installer would call and possibly compensate us some for the delays. No call ever came. They are supposed to be here this coming Monday 8/15/22 we will be surprised if they show. Hansons is showing us and all our neighbors how unprofessional they are. For that money when you schedule to do a job show up to do it. They want to put their sign out front to let people know who did our siding. No need, all the neighbors on our road can see how they dumped the siding and then continuously canceled to install. We will be putting on a roof and all new windows and trust me we will never use this company again! We learned our lesson.
Today is August 15 and once again no one showed up to install our siding. This will be the 4th time they never showed up and we get a cancel notice with a new scheduled time. Very unprofessional if we could send this siding back and hire some other reliable company we would.
Hanson Bid Request for New Roof and Siding LUMP SUM $67,000
I called Hanson's to request a bid on an 1800sf home for new siding and windows. I would be replacing 1 sliding glass door, and 7 windows, nothing big, standard sizes.
The estimator came in and was more interested in how long I have owned the home. I felt like I was being sized up.
When I got the bid, it was for $67,000, and had no detail on the square footage of the siding required, no price breakdown for each window, no installation fees. JUST A LUMP SUM OF $67,000.
The lack of professionism to ensure a customer is paying for what is required and showing how they came up with that figure STINKS. I would never use this company.
Desired outcome: NO REPLY REQUIRED
Window that was installed in 2021 is pure trash!
Hanson's increased the prices; they advertised no payment until 2022 but they changed it to 30 days after installation. Every window they installed id drafty and 10 out of the 12 have glue in between the windowpanes and one with a broken rubber seal. They used my electronic signature to sign the job was completed and to get me approve they changed my income amount, type of income, lowered my mortgage payment when they called to informed me that I was approved by 2 different banks for the one job. When I told them I was not going to pay 2 companies for 1 job, Hanson's call the following day saying I was now approved by just 1; I no idea what they did until I filed a complaint with the bank because I have refused to pay for such a horrible job, and I pray the bank can get their money back. I have all intentions to sue Hanson's to pay for new windows from another company. They have unlawfully used my signature to benefit themselves and I have proof. They stole my awnings off the house.
Desired outcome: I was told I'll have airtight windows; I was told the windows would transitional windows. I want the awnings. I don't want black and clear sealant visible.
Windows, siding
Called to cancel first two times. Third time install was to arrive at 2pm on 6.5.21 Saturday which was the day of a babe shower which we left early to meet him. He arrived at 8pm worked to 11pm install 3 out of 5 windows. 1 window wrong color, size, style as of 8.31.21 still not installed. 2 window not installed didn't have the correct product. Going to return on Monday never showed up. 6.15 started installing the siding and 1 window. Left 1/2" gap in peek which bee will nest. The window was installed 2 " higher than the window it was next. Installer fixed. 2 days called off no shows. Gutter crew installed gutter on the neighbors house down the street waited two more weeks for them to be installed. Tried calling Scott the manager of Midland location many times ask to have him call back he never returned a call this isn't right. I call today to check on the last window had to schedule an appointment to get that installed which I don't understand why I would have to call to get things done to finish this job. Very unsatisfied with the service and all the head ace. And having to explain to all my neighbors why thing still aren't done. We feel there should be something taken off for all of the problem.
Desired outcome: Poor
Siding
The company ordered the wrong color. After being disappointed with that, a sales person told us the siding had been expressly ordered for us. I was too stupid to fight it. I have had Hansons out to repair multiple issues. There were 2 corner channels where the birds were nesting. They had several cycles before Hansons took me seriously. The siding has been buckled since it went up. According to hansons, it's not a problem. Now we have siding popping out of the corner channel, and openings at the windows where wasps are going in. The bathroom exterior vent is falling off.. One of the corner channels was cut to narrow for the house, , so that falls off. I really wish I never would have picked Hansons for the 20k job.
Desired outcome: Better job
Update on the siding, as of August 6th, 2021 the siding is coming apart from the corner channel. I have had several people ask about getting siding updated. My first words are: Don't go with Hansen's.
Horrible roofing job
I signed for my house April 6th of 2021. I knew I needed a replacement roof and we contacted Hanson's who sent a person out in less than 5 days to inspect and give an estimate for the job. The person they sent knew nothing about log cabins even though Hanson's had been informed explicitly that we had purchased a log cabin and that we would need someone that knew how to handle the roof. The person that came out promised a hefty military discount for our service along with Windows and gutters and explained that his contractors knew exactly what needed to be done and that we would have a completely new roof. After continuing to send the check for our permit to the wrong township for a month and a half they finally managed to get the payment in the permit was issued a week later without informing me the contracted company came and dropped a stack of OSB and left it exposed in the rain for over a week. Mind you lumber prices were at an all-time high and we were being charged through the nose for this OSB sheeting. I had a visit from the owner of the company late night i.e. after dusk the night before stating that his crew would be there first thing in the morning to get started. There was no call ahead of time they were just getting an eye for the job or so they said. A crew of people that I did not recognize maybe five young men under the age of 35 mostly in their twenties showed up around 9:00 or 9:30 the following morning claim to be working for an hour or two and then took a few breaks and by 1:30 p.m. they had decided they were done for the day one of the young men announced to me that they were taking their union break and that they would be back the next day. I'd like to point out my roof is 6 squares top. Literally it's a 400 sqft house! This was a 4-Hour job Max. Maybe six if they would have actually taken any of the bad OSB off. Mind you this is a log cabin it either needs a cold roof or a proper steel, there are a few other roof options. However, these jokers put osb and shingle over the top of rotten shingle and even a ton of moss! They installed a ridge vent if you can call it installed they just took the actual event and screwed it right down to the top of the house it's not venting anything it's literally just screwed down on top of shingle. This is absolutely ridiculous! A week later I received a phone call from the district manager for hansons stating that they did a good job and they expected payment I told them the complaint that I had filed was valid explain the problems even text messaged him photos of the rotten OSB you can step outside the front door and look at and he offered to have gutters installed to placate me. I said no absolutely not the roof needed to be redone. 3 weeks later while I was out of town the company came back without my permission on my property and installed gutters and flashing anyway. And even the flashing and gutters were installed incorrectly! I had razor sharp shavings of gutter metal all over the ground around the sides of my house as well as hundreds of screws. I ended up purchasing a rolling magnet dress so I could get all of the scrap metal out of my yard. My door key was taken out of my lock box next to the front door and then mysteriously 3 months later was set back in my door frame while I was gone at the grocery store. I have since changed my locks. I now have a non-functional roof that is out of code and gutters that are leaking water and totally pointless. Please go with the local company that has good reviews don't deal with these scammers. Save yourself the headache. ** We made the even worse mistake of trying to finance through them my husband had a very good credit score well over 700 and after they ran his credit no less than seven times and put seven hard hits on his credit and then continued to run his credit multiple more times after they had received all seven approvals he's now down in the low 500s.
Desired outcome: A proper roof installed that is within building codes!
Replacement windows
On Saturday, May 29, 2021, I received a call from a Hanson's representative (Marilynn Whites) to informed me that my replacement windows were in and that they could be out on Tuesday, June 1 between 8am-12 noon. I accepted this appointment and took a day off work to make sure I was here at the home. I received no windows nor a call. I made several attempts all day calling the representative back to a local call and also called the 1-800 number and did not get any responses. Finally, I got a hold to another representative and he claimed he did not see an appt. for me nor saw that i had replacement windows order on file. Finally, at 3:56pm, received a call back from Marilynn claiming that my appt. was on June 15th and told me she made an error. She also mentioned all day there were issue with Zoom/Teams and that she couldn't answer any calls. This is so unprofessional and I am quite disappointed on how the representative handle my issue. I took the day off and stayed in the house the whole entire day to have nothing accomplish.
This exact same thing happened to me with switching appointments i dont think it was an error
Checking in
Last year (2020) in October or November, we contacted 1-800-Hansons about installing new siding for our house. Corey Clouse came out and gave us a slick, well-rehearsed pitch, then gave us a take it or leave it offer to install new siding on our home. At the time he said that the installation would start in about 6 weeks. It's now been 3-4 months and...

My windows i ordered and installed by hansons are bad. I have not been able to open my front window for 5 months. They came out 2 month ago and said the windows were ordered and would be replaced with a slider window. Their currently double hung. We paid all this money and [censored]ty service. I just called today and the windows have not been ordered. Both estimators said the double hung windows need to be replaced with a slider. 969 Bainbridge Center Rd, Watervliet, MI
Desired outcome: get my windows working and I want a full refund
