5000 series dryer with steam
Purchased a Maytag 5000 Series dryer with steam. Nearly $800 at Home Depot. Less than four years later, the dryer needs a new heating element. $99 for the "first" service call. Have to wait one week for the part. $340 - $350 for the part. And of course, another $99 for the "second" service call. That's at least $540 to repair an $800 dryer.
Like everyone else I'm reading about, I did not purchase an extended warranty. I thought I was spending the extra money on the initial purchase to buy a higher quality product from a more reputable company. Wrong!
There are two adults who live in this house. We work 60 to 100 hours per week. We don't have time to do laundry. Half of our clothing goes to the dry-cleaners! So this isn't a household with 19 kids. I'm not talking about a dryer that never got turned off. This is ridiculous.
I foolishly spent $800 on one of Maytag's products thinking I would get ten years of good service. That's $80 per year to own the thing. I want my $480 back for the six years of service your product failed to provide.
What is the environmental impact of your corporation pumping such disposable trash out into our environment? Who is looking into that? How irresponsible is it for a corporation to manufacture such trash with the full expectation that it's going into a landfill in "less than" four years?
What was Maytag's solution to the problem? "We'll essentially give you an employee discount on a new product." Well, that would be wonderful, but you need to give me a discount on another company's product. I will "never" again have a Maytag appliance in my home. I have already began and will continue informing every person who will listen about my experience with your products. I told the Maytag person on the phone that I would never even accept a free dryer from their company.
Maytag, you should be ashamed. If you cannot manufacture a better product, if you cannot provide better customer service and stand behind the products you make, and if you cannot be more environmentally responsible, you should be out of business.
Your corporation and this product has reaffirmed a belief in me: This country is incapable of producing anything that isn't disposable garbage. I do not purchase American vehicles because they're disposable garbage. And from today forward, I will do my best to purchase as few products as possible that are manufactured by American corporations.

doesn't fill/clothes smell dirty
We purchased a Maytag centennial washer in February and over the next month it proceeded to leak out from under the machine. Hoses and connections were checked and there were no problems with those, so I made a service appointment through Maytag's website. The repairman came, could not find anything wrong and balanced the legs on the machine. It continued to leak so I emailed customer service for a new unit and was told they would not replace it, but I could call the repairman again. Thankfully, Lowe's, where we purchased the machine, allowed us to return it and get a new machine, although we were past the 30-day return period for appliances. So, now the new machine does not fill with enough water to cover the clothes, no matter what settings I put it on. Also, the clothes come out smelling dirty. My husband's shirts and our towels still smell dirty even after washing on the heavy soil setting. In 14 years, I never had these problems with our Amana. I absolutely hate this washer and am dusgusted that we spent hard-earned money on it. I will never buy another Maytag and will go out of my way to tell other people not to buy one either.
unfixable f35 error
We have a six year old Maytag 5000 washer (looks like the guts of it are the Whirlpool Duet). I've replaced the Analog Pressure Sensor twice, opened up the drain trap to find it crystal clean, and still cannot get the machine to operate. This seems to be a widespread failure for which there is no fix. Maytag should offer something to these customers.
I would check out www.f35error.com because they have a CCU repair kit that should help eliminate the F35 and SUD errors especially if replacing the analog pressure sensor (APS) did not help. They also have APS repair kits, too.
not enough water to wash clothes
the washer does not have enough water to wash clothes. Even after the spin cycle some clothes are not wet thought maybe that it was just our washer from the beginning but now I see from all the other complaints that it is with a lot of them. it would be nice if Maytag would at least give us some help with this situation. but they will not because I have tried. because of my job my uniform has to be very clean and this washer does not do that. my advice is never buy a Maytag washer again.
water level to wash clothes is horrible most clothes aren't even getting wet. this has been since day one of owning the washer
maytag extended warranty
Do not purchase Maytag dishwashers or their extended warranty. We purchased a dishwasher less than two years ago. We have had the repair man come out five times to fix our broken dishwasher. Each time the dishwasher breaks, we are forced to wait at least ten days until a service rep is available. Once the rep comes out, they must see what is wrong, order a part and return approximately one week later. Maytag has absolutely refused to replace our dishwasher and has displayed horrible customer service. Do not purchase Maytag appliances.
worthless washing machine
I have a Maytag Legacy Series and I love this machine. My last Maytag lasted 35 years! My mother needed a new washer and I told her much I liked my Maytag and so she bought the new Centenniel model. It is the worse washing machine I have every had. My mother is disable and I spend lots of time doing her laundry. We called a repair person out and they said there wasn't anything wrong with it. The wash cycle is so fast it doesn't have time to suds the clothes. The water sensor is so annoying. I like to add clothes to the tub and also stop the machine and let things soak. Every time you do it starts adding more water and before you can turn around the cloths are spinning but they do not spin thoroughly. You have to try the spin cycle again. They would never dry in the dryer. Maytag did not improve with this machine. I want to sell it and buy another washer--not a Maytag but I don't want someone else to get this worthless machine.
washing machine is garbage
I bought a Maytag Centennial Washing Machine on 1/22/2015. I was moving into my new home and didnt get a chance to hook it up and wash clothes until a few weeks later. (Was using my old washing machine until then). The very first time I used it, I followed the instructions but the water only came on for a few seconds. Not even close to enough water to actually wash the clothes. I tried stopping and restarting the cycle numerous times. Unplugging, retrying...I got frustrated and gave up. I have tried a few times since with no luck. This washing machine is garbage. I didnt buy an extended warranty and Lowes will not take it back as it is now just over 30 days since purchase. If Maytag doesnt credit me for a new washer, I will never buy a maytag product again.
piece of junk defective design
Bought this pile of junk in December from a even more junk garbage vendor called aj Madison, stay as far away as you can from both. They work together to rip off consumers along with synchrony bank that funds there fraudulent pathetic products and customer service. Took three weeks to deliver and right out of the box, didn't work. It uses reservoirs of water and electricity to not clean clothes, leaving as dirty as when put in. This series is called bravo, well documented all over the internet of the pathetic pice of junk it is and maytag through it's vendor aj Madison and funder synchrony bank are selling known defective machines. Will fight till the end to stop this from happening, absolutely disgraceful.

keeps breaking down: f70, f71 codes
Maytag 5000 Washer - Model MHWE500VW11
In year 5 of the machine it started having interrupted wash cycles throwing the F70 code. For a few months I was able to deal with it by powering the unit down and starting over. Huge inconvenience but it did the trick. Then it started getting worse and more frequent. Then it starting throwing not only F70 but also F71 codes. At the same time the matching dryer went out. I had both units serviced: Dryer heating element with parts and labor $260 and washer user interface board - parts and labor for $386. Totally sucked but dealt with it. Then 5 months later I started getting the same codes plus F35 and SUD. What the heck?! I called for service again, now the pressure switch and CCU board needed replaced for another $256. One week later - more trouble shooting codes. I called Maytag and the only thing they were willing to do was sell me new parts at 50% off. At this point the only thing left to replace was the pump. So, I spent more money on labor and parts for a new pump. The service people said I should be good now. It's basically a brand new machine since we have replaced every major part. Well, guess what?!? It's been 6 months and my washer isn't working AGAIN. F70 and F71 codes - which means it the electronic boards again. I can't imagine spending another $500+ in fixing it again. I have no confidence that it won't happen again. I can't continue to dump this kind of money into repairs. I should have just bought a new washer (but not a Maytag or Whirlpool) when it first broke. Of course I would have never purchased the unit in the first place if I thought it was only going to last 5 years. My last Kenmoore set lasted more than 15 years and was still working when we replaced it - trying to upgrade to a high efficiency machine. High efficiency comes with high repair cost and not so clean clothes. I'm highly disappointed with the washer, the Maytag/Whirlpool customer service and their product integrity. They obviously don't have faith in their products either or they would do more to help. Either the machine is a lemon or they are all built poorly and meant to be replaced every 5 years. INSANE! I might as well just buy something cheap and plan to replace it every few years. I just wish the company would step up and replace the machine or at the very least do the repairs this time at no charge on service and labor.
I could have written the above comment as well. We paid good money for a what has turned out to be a lemon, and reading the comment above, unfortunately we are not alone.
it quite working and having issues getting it fixed
I am having a major issue with a maytag frenchdoor refrigerator model# mft2976aeb00.
I purchased this item from home depot on 2 / 19 / 13 and purchase a home depot support plan at the same time.
This item work fine until aug 1, 2014 when the ice maker quit making ice, i placed a service call 2 days later we had ice again so i cancelled the service call.
On august 28, 2014 the bottom freezer unit failed due to a complete ice over, the fine folks of the home depot support plan dispatched a repair man to repair it. Good old boys show up with a hair dryer and a couple of screw drivers chipped the ice out. All fixed.
On december 28, 2014 the ice maker quit, again, and freezer quit functioning again. The home depot support plan dispatched a repair man to repair it, again. This time we were informed that we needed to have a number of parts replaced to fix the situation, parts were ordered and they were delivered to the house about 5 days later. We contacted the home depot support plan again to have them send their repair person out to install the parts. The repair person was unable to return to install the parts until january 14, 2015.
On january 14, 2015 the repair person showed up and informed us that the problem was worse then they originally thought and we now had a freon leak and the evaporator coil assembly needed to be replaced. The repair person ordered parts and said it could be a week to 10 days to get the parts and once they were delivered to the house that we should call the service provider and arrange to have the new parts installed.
Its now january 15, 2015 and after contacting the home depot support plans customer service folks, worthless waste of time, i proceeded to spend an hour on the phone with a home depot problem resolution specialist. This resolution specialist contacted the service provider and was able to gain some assurances that the parts would probably (Well maybe) be delivered to my home on january 22, 2015. At which time i should contact the service provider and schedule a time when they could come out an install the parts. The estimated time to install all of the replacement parts 6 hours.
I was also informed that there was a slight chance that it might be necessary to order even more parts,
Would i ever purchase another maytag product, no way and i strongly recommend that others research products before they buy them.
For an expensive product such as major appliances an extended service plan could be life saver (The cost of parts and the labor to install them is currently sitting at around $1700. 00) .
Would i ever purchase another major appliance from home depot, that remains to be seen. It depends on how the repair to the refrigerator goes. I left the home depot resolution specialist with the following, i would give them until january 25, 2015 to repair or replace the refrigerator after witch i would be filing complaints with the bbb and the texas attorney generals office.
I will provide an update once this issue is resolved.
piece of junk
My May tag Dishwasher is only 4 and a half years old and 2 years ago I had to replace the control panel. The control panel again is not working and it has not been working working correctly for the past year, being erratic. Now it does not work at all. 2 years ago it cos me $261 dollars to replace. The Machine cost $629 dollars 4 and a half years ago. So today I purchase a Hotpoint with knobs and will never buy an appliance that has computerized panels again. Maytag dishwashers are junk. I will never purchase one again or recommend them to anyone.
dehumidifier inoperative under warranty
I Purchased 2 Maytag Dehumidifiers in 2004, one quit working under warranty period and the other quit shortly after warranty.
Model number M3DH30B2A A
Serial number LR 941327 307W
In 2004 the Rep at Maytag customer svc told me that the Fedders company who manufactured the Dehumidifiers became defunct and went out of business and there was nothing Maytag could do to refund my $149 but the Rep did provide a file/case number for further ref.
This file/case number is now lost.
When I inquired again recently 2014 I received the same answer.
This is an illegal act on behalf of Maytag and Fedders and chargers should be brought to bare on the unlawful practice of bilking honest, hard working Americans out of their meager funds.
I demand my $149 refund back ASAP from these two illegitimate, mean spirited, UnAmerican, fraudulent pseudo manufacturers.
In the sentence 4th from bottom, 13th word should read "charges".
horrible machine
This is the worst machine. Since I got it it has made my clothes smell like waste. I've been taking my clothes to my parents and in laws house whenever possible but have two kids so need a washer at home. On Christmas Eve eve I did a load of laundry and it flooded all over the presents I had in my laundry room. Now it won't even start but I'm out of warranty. I can't believe such a bad product is being sold by such a reputable company.

model mvwc6esww1 washer
Part # W10248240 (water level and temp. controller) is defective. The last one cost and arm and a leg to replace, now 3 months
later it is on the fritz again. What's with this Maytag, I thougt you were the Cadilac of applinces. Since you apparently don't work
in your offices on Sat. and don't answer the phone I guess I will wait until Monday. My clothes are piling up. Since it starts to agitate
before it is filled and clunks like a cement mixer, I'm thinking I could fill it with a bucket, then repeat that chore when it gets to the rinse cycle. You really need to do something about this. It's not like I can run down and buy a new one every other month. It cost alot
more than a bag of potato chips and a drink. Me and my cement mixer will be waiting

defective electronic control panels
I bought this expensive stainless steel side by side refrigerator with freezer drawer at bottom, a Maytag model MF12568AEB, in 2006, with a 7 year warranty. Two weeks ago, the electronic control panel lights started speed flashing and the ice flap opens and closes non stop with a loud noise. Got online to research what that was all about and read countless complaints about the same issue on this model. The complaints started four years ago and are continuing to this day. Many posts of Maytag buyers reported that by calling Whirlpool (who now owns Maytag) Customer Service at [protected], and by insisting that there IS an issue with these models, and by asking to talk to a supervisor, their problems were resolved and the repairs were done free of charge. Well, when I called that number, they did exactly what was written on many posts; denied there was a problem, said there were no recalls (even though according to posts, there is a "secret" list that apparently Maytag/Whirlpool has, which reveals problems with many models of refrigerators). They referred me to Maytag's Customer Experience Center (I love these names!), who told me that this problem was "taken care of" the last couple of years, but there was no recall, and I was out of luck because my fridge died, right after the warranty expired and that their manufacturer warranty expired. They offered me a Bundle deal labor & part + 1 year warranty for $428. Well, to make a long story short, I'm a single mom who hasn't had a pay check in 3 weeks and I have had no fridge for two weeks! I definitely think that Maytag has to stop screwing consumers by fabricating expensive defective fridges! I see that from the posts on this complaints board, my fridge model is not the only one with similar issues.

faulty ice maker
I purchased a refrigerator (Model MZD2665HES) 9 years ago and the ice maker stopped working. When the repairman took it out there was plastic peeling from the ice mold. It cost $261.11 to have the ice maker replaced and the ice maker he replaced it with has the plastic on the ice mold. He said that GE's ice makers do not have the plastic coating but Maytag's still do. I called Maytag and spoke to a supervisor and they said that there was nothing that they could do. I am filing this complaint because I feel that consumer need to be aware that they are ingesting plastic that is in their ice. I feel that Maytag should compensate me for the faulty part and also eliminate the plastic coating from their ice maker. This issue is impacting many other consumers and they need to issue a recall on the ice maker and replace it for free for other consumers.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
My Maytag Refrigerator is leaking. Monday I phoned the authorized Maytag repair service. The earliest available repairman would be there Friday between 8am-5pm.
I was up at 8am ready for him. At 2:30pm he called to say he will not be here today- but could come next thursday.
If this is the best Maytag can offer then I will buy another brand. And I sure will keep away from undependable place like A&E
You had it nine years and think you should be reimbursed? Seriously? We sell appliance parts. I have a GE icemaker here, and it has a nonstick coating. They all do. Except for the new all-plastic icemakers which are junk. Without the THIN coating, you would be ingesting zinc. Your icemaker operated as normal, so get over it. By today's standards, nine years for an icemaker is a good long life, and the price you were charged is fair. No one from Maytag, which basically no longer exists, since Whirlpool bought Maytag, is going to do anything about a nine year old part.
noisy
I too wish I'd seen this website before buying my Maytag Centennial washer. Mine is about two years old and I just ordered a replacement transmission. Mine sounds like a freight train when it goes into the spin cycle. I emailed Maytag a couple of months ago and it only took them six weeks to get back to me. I told them the story, and the robot person advised me that it must be an isolated case and that they've had no noise issues with this model. If you're in the market for a new washer, stay away from Maytag.
Well, I just installed the new transmission and my washer is as quiet as it was when I bought it. The old transmission had all of the grease either washed out of the upper bearing or it was never greased at the factory. Since there was some rust in the bearing, I'm going to assume that the tub seal let some water seep into the bearing and wash the grease out. If it happens again, the washer is going to the dump. We'll see in another two years.
I have the same problem with the same Maytag washer. I have not yet fixed the noisy spin cycle but sounds like a bearing is going bad. Sounds like poor design or parts quality! Next washer won't be a Maytag!
Mine too it is not an isolated case our sounds like a helicopter taking off abosolutely horrible we have to run laundry when we are outside. so we cant hear it.
refrigerator stopped working
well, I am having the same problem as all of the others on this message board...along with SEVERAL other message boards. I googled this and it seems to be a common on going problem with this particular maytag refridgerator. It happened yesterday, on a sunday and of course they weren't open so my husband had to call them this morning...we were told no. That there were no problems with my model and theres nothing they can do to help us? I was so hopeful after seeing all of the people with my problem, get free parts mailed to them and a free service person to come out and put it in, even without warranty. but they said no. Mine is doing the same thing...stopped cooling...I have lost food and what I was able to save, I had to go buy ice for ice chest. My life is totally disrupted right now and they say 'sorry'. My husband had a strock and is disabled now, so we live on a tight income. Anyways, the control panel keeps blinking on and off like a christmas tree and ice flapper keeps flapping open and shut...and its not cooling. my model number is MF12568AES. They said there was no recall or anything defective. So they told us no...when apparently they have helped other people with the same problem. I find this very upsetting, given my situation. I take care of my disabled daughter and husband and this is the last thing I need to be dealing with. =(

bad parts
Well where do I start I have a Maytag dishwasher made from whirlpool it is 4 months out of a year warranty and the main board went out after calling them they said they would pay for the part not the repair I said ok I can deal with that even though I thought there product was suppose to be better then that of a year well guess not ! They sent me to there repair people who charge more to come out and to fix then I paid for the dishwasher shame on them so I called and said I... found someone way cheaper there comet was oh we will pay for the part if are Maytag repairs it, well needless to say they got a ear full they work together in getting more of your money ! So don't buy whirlpool product for they don't last times are tiff enough And when they don't .Stand behind there product and try to take advantage of all people to get more money I WILL NEVER BUY FROM THEM AND I HOPE YOU PASS THIS ON !
DO NOT choose A&E Factory service for your Maytag dishwasher warranty repair, company did not show up in the 4 hour service window and never called to let me know they were not coming. ( sept 9, 2010 ) terrible service.
Centennial washer and dryer junk
I purchased a Centennial washer and dryer model number MVWC425B.. on september30th 2014, First day I used it I smelled a funny smell, thought after second day smell was coming from dryer since dryer went out that day! Repair came out said dryer blew a external fuse and maybe my vent was stopped up under my house.. O. k sounds logically to me Husband crawled under house, NO vent was not stopped up, but none the less dryer was still working so maybe it was a one time thing.. WRONG today 4 days after purchase smelled oil or grease smell in my house after using washer went into laundry room oil and grease running out from under washer and huge puddle under washer.. since its Saturday I cant get service from place I bought it.. but called the 800 number on my paper work only to get a recording telling me they are not open on weekends. In my opinion when you buy a brand new washer and dryer and both stop working not even a week into purchase.. JUNK is the word coming to mind.. I don't want them fixed I don't want a replacement Maytag.. I want my full purchase price back and I will then go buy another brand... Very upset over this... Dianna
We have owned 3 sets of Maytag washers and dryer’s in the past 10 years! I’m finished. This last set was Maytag Centennial, 100% Junk. Has 10 year warranty listed on the front. After 6months the Agitator stripped out , I ordered the piece and fixed it myself, Now 1.5 years later it sounds like a plane taking off, the bearings are shot and the agitator is stripped out again, also the lid is permanently locked! Trash Trash Trash. We will never own A Maytag again.

I have had to replace the idler pulley for the drive belt on mine three times now. I am buying Maytag OEM parts, and my work is good. The drum spins freely, without drag or wobble. Has anyone else had this issue? Is it a design flaw or was I just the lucky one?
