I purchased this machine in 2018. The lid has now cracked at the hinge for the 3rd time. It is a spring loaded hinge which puts too much tension upon the plastic frame The replacement lid costs about $200.00+, leaving little incentive to repair the machine. The first time Maytag replaced it with no issue. The second time they would not do it but my persistence paid off and they agreed to do it. At that time they lied to me letting me know that I would not have to worry about it happening again because the lid had been remodeled. When the repair man came with new lid I asked him about it and he laughed saying that is not true and the lid he is installing WILL BREAK AGAIN. A little over a year later it has broke and Maytag is telling me basically too bad! They will not stand by the product. I have contacted an attorney and plan on starting a class action lawsuit. There is no reason why anyone who brought this machine should be stuck buying a new cover every year. I now have to take a brand new machine and throw it out! This is unacceptable. And btw when Maytag says they are sorry please contact us so we can make it right in the comments section, they are lying! They have no plans to make it right. If you are interested in joining this class action lawsuit I ask that you email me at [protected]@gmail.com. Thank you
Desired outcome: Replace my machine with a new one. The new ones have a hinge lid that inserts down into the machine. They changed design on new models however the lids do not fit the old models.

My 86 year old grandma purchased her Maytag MVWB765f3w from Home Depot in 2019 a year after you bought yours. She has the same problem with her machine, cheap, crap plastic on bottom lid. Plastic cracks and breaks at right bottom hinge. Lid won't close properly for sensor. Her 3rd lid, and Maytag doesn't want to help her either. I'm contacting you on her behalf. Home Depot told her to call Maytag to complain.about this issue. 428$ for replacement, direct from Maytag. She only paid $642 for machine before Home Depots extended 3 year warranty. Home Depot scammed her into a 3 year warranty that Maytag covers for an extra $114.95. They are both scammers and this needs to be resolved with them. They are still playing stupid and are aware of this problem. I know this because I went to Home Depot and the hinges and plastic are different from your model and my grandma's washing machine. I have read several different complaints about this same issue that has occurred with these defective washing machines.
Feel free to contact me back about the class action lawsuits, to join in on. She is really upset about this matter and would rather be enjoying her retirement and what ever time she has left on this Earth 🌎. Thank you so much for your time.
Did you start a class action? I would like to join
I have the same issue and I would like to join in a class action lawsuit ejedouble2000yahoo.com
I would like to go in on you with this lawsuit. Same problem as well as thousands of others.
Same has happened to me and I have read several complaints about this same problem. I would be interested in joining any lawsuit. tbwurts@gmail.com
I have read so many complaints regarding this same issue. We purchased our washing machine (MVWB765FW3) in 2019 from Lowes. After 3 years the left hinge on the lid cracked. We limped it along for about a year and today it finally cracked completely and the lid will no longer close at all. Spoke with a Maytag rep (Jennifer from Tennessee) who claims there is nothing documented on this issue. I called a year ago and got the same response. "We haven't heard anything about this issue". Absolute lies! I will never buy a Maytag product again. Would be interested in joining the class action suit. Shultsey@yahoo.com
I would be interested in in this too. I bought this washer is 2018 and I have replace 4 tops for the same reason. The repair man said you believe how many he has to replace. Now mine is cracking again that same place. Left hinge.
Interested. Same problem. Four lids replaced already since 2019. sallywelch@twc.com
