I have a quiet series 300 also, I may as well wash all the dishes by hand because if I put them in the dishwasher with ANY food on them, it will still be there when it's done "washing" them and I'll have to do it anyway. That's even with EVERY feature turned on despite that it takes forever to NOT clean the dishes. I've had it for a year, it's the WORST dishwasher I have EVER used. The door latch stopped working about a week after the warranty was up so now we have to pry it out with a knife to get it to latch so it will NOT wash the dishes. Basically it's a $400+ dollar sanitizer and a waste of water and electricity. I will never buy another Maytag appliance. Any future purchases will be Kenmore.

After making a comment 12 days ago, I had the repairman come and replace the latch on my dishwasher at a cost of $98. The actual handle cost $7. He also cleaned the bottom (something that requires removal of parts that I would not normally do in the course of regular maintenance) and suggests that I should likely have a new motor, as it looks like the current one is not doing the job. My previous Maytag lasted 20 years without a problem and now this one, at just 6 years, needs a new motor! Sounds like this dishwasher series might be grounds for a class action lawsuit with so many complaints of an obviously inferior and defective product. Count me in!

Horrible Dishwasher. It is not quiet, does not clean the dishes entirely and it has the longest short cycle. Finally the entire board went blank and it has not run in 2months. The repair person visted, shook his head and laughed. He mentioned he has seen more of these then he cares to remember. Total junk...I wonder if Toshiba makes a decent dishwasher?

Purchase a Maytag dryer 2 years and 2 months ago. The dryer stopped working. Had Sears out to take a look and they took the dryer apart and found that the outer drum had a six inch crack in the drum. Likey a manufacturing defect that finally got so bad the dryer failed. I called Maytag and they did NOTHING. Thought it perfectly acceptable that a two year old dryer failed by a larger crack in the outer drum (the one that is outside and not visible unless it is taken apart). I will NEVER purchase another Maytag appliance.

Refrigerator broke two weeks ago; five years old;repaired by non-Maytag rep due to long wait, to be reimbursed; two weeks later broke again, different problem; repair to take one month...Are you kidding me? A month without a fridge? Obviously there are parts and service people closeby that can repair, replace or fix this problem.
Does Maytag want me to go away and quit asking for service? Do not buy Maytag or anything affiliated with Maytag...Do not buy an extended warranty..obviously they are worthless...

I BOUGHT A MAYTAG REFRIGERATOR 4 YEARS AGO FROM SEARS. RECENTLY THE WATER.ICE MAKER STOPPED WORKING. I WENT ONLINE AND PAID 65.00 DOLLARS IN ADVANCE TO HAVE A SERVICE MAN COME TO THE HOUSE TO MAKE THE NEEDED REPAIRS. THE FIRST APPOINTMENT WAS SET FOR THUR 7/10/08 THE REPAIR MAN NEVER SHOWED UP, HE CLAIMS NO ONE ANSWERED THE PHONE, THE MAID WAS IN THE HOUSE UNTIL 5PM WAITING THE WHOLE TIME. I RESET THE APPOINTMENT FOR TUESDAY 7/15/08 THEY TELL ME BETWEEN 8AM-5PM. I CALLED THE MAID AT 5PM AND ASK IF THE MAYTAG REPAIR MAN WAS THERE, SHE ADVISED NO. AT 5:39PM I GET A CALL ADVISING THE REPAIR MAN WAS THERE BUT NO ONE WAS HOME. MY WIFE WAS ON THE PHONE CALLING ME TELLING ME SHE WAS OUTSIDE ON THE FRONT PORCH WITH MY DAUGHTER WATCHING THE MAYTAG REPAIR MAN DRIVE AWAY. THIS AGAIN WAS 5:39PM AS DOCUMENTED ON THE PHONE. THE REPAIR MAN LITERLY RAN BACK TO HIS VAN AND DEPARTED AS MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER STOOD WATCHING. I CALLED THE NUMBER BACK AND TOLD THE COSTOMER SERVICE WHAT WAS HAPPENING. I WAS ON HOLD FOR OVER 45 MINUTES. I INTENTIONALY WAITED TO SEE IF ANYONE WOULD PICK UP. FINALLY THE PHONE WAS DISCONECTED. THE MUSIC WHILE ON HOLD WAS TERRIBLE. BOTTOM LINE IS, THERE IS NO CUSTOMER SERVICE HERE. DON'T EXPECT THEM TO BE ON TIME, THE CALL SERVICE PEOPLE PUT ME ON HOLD AND NEVER DID GET BACK ON THE LINE, THERE IS NO RESOLUTION OFFERED BY MANAGEMENT FOR THE 2 DAYS I HAD THE MAID STAY PAST HER NORMAL 2PM WORK SCEDULE, A SIMPLE I AM SORRY AND LET ME RESCEDULE YOUR APPOINTMENT IS ALL I GOT FROM MANAGER AFTER WAITING ON THE PHONE FOR ANOTHER 40 MINUTES. I HAVE PHONE RECORDS THAT SUPPORT THIS WHOLE CLAIM. THE SERVICE IS ROTTEN.

Picked one up second hand as the previous owner was complaining about not cleaning properly. I stared looking it over and notice the top and bottom spray bars were clogged with debris. I'm not sure what it was but about 80% overall were plugged. I just washed some dishes in it and it does run a long time but it really scrubbed the pots I put in and my glasses came out crystal clear. I purposely left stuck on pasta in the pan and it came out like a mirror. One issue I haven't figured out though is why water seems to run down the front once in a while. Maybe the vent is not closing or something.
I just wanted to post this as maybe many others have clogged ports in the spray arms.

My refrigerator is four years old and we have an extended warranty. We returned from vacation two weeks ago to find our frozen food thawed and spoiled due to a broken compressor. We called right away, but they couldn't come out until a week later. When he came out, he had no parts, instead he told me he had to order parts and it would take another week. It's now going into our third week... A&E Service Dept. is telling me the parts are backordered and it could from 3-6 MONTHS to get the parts. Neither Lowes nor Maytag will help, they just send me back and forth to each other. Everyone tells me the same thing in a very condescending tone, "Ma'am, there's nothing that I can do".

I have two small children and have lost hundreds of dollars in spoiled food and daily runs to the store for cold food and ice. I can't get my fridge fixed, even though I have a warranty... I can't believe I'm losing my mind over an appliance!

I also have a 300 series, bought it 2 and half years ago...after reading all these complaints, I'm convince there should be a class action suit ...or product recall. Mine acted up for a couple months, would stop mid cycle and then 1-2 hours kick back on, didn't clean dishes. Now it does nothing...no lights...nothing...I have not called Sears yet but plan on it tomorrow...I will tell them about all these complaints I'm reading on here...this company needs to be responsible for selling junk...

We, too, have a Maytag Quiet Series 300 dishwasher, and let me tell you, it's a piece of junk! It's so noisy on occasion that it scares our cats, the latch has had to be replaced, the support racks have had to be repaired, the cycles on a normal wash are very long, AND IT DOESN'T CLEAN THE DISHES! We also owned a Maytag clothes washer, and had nothing but trouble with it. We will NEVER buy another Maytag product!

Add me to the list who think the QuietSeries 300 is a total waste of valuable natural resources. Like many others, I purchased Maytag due to good experiences in the past. Did ANYBODY at Maytag do product testing on this model ? Maybe it can clean rice bowls and chop sticks, but it sure does not work on Corell, utensils, glasses, pots, coffee cups ... should I go on ?

I have been totally dissatisfied with this unit since installing it about a year ago. I even pulled it out twice to see if there was a kinked line or other problem. I hate the controls & the way it loads. My water and electric bills went up considerably as I have to double wash everything and the cycles are soooo long that the hot water in my (insulated) supply pipes has to be heated again by the QS300 for every cycle.

The OM tells you "DON'T PRERINSE, Simply scrape of large food particles". Are you kidding ? If there is any food on the dishes when they go in, it will be on there when it comes out.

I was so dissatisfied that after only a year, I installed a new dish washer (NOT a Maytag). I tried GIVING the QS300 to a guy who repairs/sells used appliances - he didn't want it ! So if anybody out there needs a part that has fallen off your unit, speak up soon, before my next trip to the dump.

I agree with all I've read about the Maytag quiet series 300. I had my first service call after 6 weeks! Half the time it won't fill and/or rinse, leaving me with dishes with soap particles. They claimed nothing was wrong. Now it is doing it again and I have called again for service. I'm going to insist on a new one (yeah, right)). Wish me luck and I also will never buy a Maytag

We have maytag quit series 300 and it will not clean dishes worth the powder to blow it to hell. I can rinse and wash dishes in the sink and put them in the dishwasher and they still come out with bits of food on them. I have no idea where it is coming from, I can't find a filter that is plugged up. I agree it is a hunk of junk. Maytag should be totally ashamed to put a product of this quality on the market. It will be our last maytag product. I will sure tell any of my friends who are looking at appliances not to look at Maytag.

Have had motor and control panel replaced under warranty. I have had numerous repair calls that I have had to pay for. I does not clean the dishes, leaves a grit on them. It is not the detergent, it started out fine but went down hill after six months. Maybe we all should sue Maytag for allowing such a piece of crap into the market. The 300 series is a joke!

We bought the Maytag about a year ago. Of course as soon as the warranty was over it stopped working. The repairman came and said it was the control board. Changed that, still not working. It seems to loop through the wash cycle without draining out the water. So the water remains in the dishwasher while it cycles through. Then when you stop it, it drains the water. So it's kind of a manual automatic dish washer. I was told that Maytag makes good stuff and that's why we bought this (we normally go with other, more reliable brands). It's really a waste of time. Plus the cost for repairs is extremely high. Ah well you pay to learn

Chalk up yet another dissatisfied customer with this product. Has anyone else had the stainless steel front of this piece of junk start rusting? We too didn't buy the extended warranty because of the Maytag reputation. No way will this brand ever be bought. The latch went out in less than a year, the dishes NEVER come out completely clean and always have a residue left on them-this is after rinsing all food and debris off of the dishes before loading. We too had a grinding noise, and now realize the motor is gone. I searched for the cost of a new motor and thankfully found this board because we know now FOR SURE that we will not spend anymore on this appliance. I do think a lawsuit is due. Anyone know of a law firm that would take this on?

I hate my dishwasher! I have had two sears repairmen out here, , basically telling me the same thing. Do this and this with the soap, , hot water, , use the dishwasher cleaner regularly . This is the worst appliance I have ever had. Martag used to be such a company, that you thought it was worth the extra you paid for it.
THe 300 series does not ever clean all my dishes, I'm having to wash things by hand. You would think with all of the complains, , , Maytag would have to do something about it!

We had the Quiteseries 300 installed 4 years ago when we built our house. What a piece of junk!
It is loud and doesn't clean the dishes. The upper rack is broken - has been for two years. We just didn't want to pay the ridiculous price to replace the rack!

We thought we were buying a quality product..wrong!

I am so upset with Maytag. Three years ago I bought the 300 series dishwasher and have noticed the same thing as everyone else. Last night it started making a loud rumbling noise and it sounds like the motor is about to blow up. I'm afraid to call the repair man because I know it will probably cost a fortune to fix. I also bought a Maytag double oven at the same time and have had problems with it...funny thing I haven't seen the Maytag repairman commercials on TV lately...guess he's BUSY now.

The above comments were very helpful. I called the Maytag customer # at1-[protected] and let them know about my ontrol panel going out, and that I know this is an existing problem. They offerred to extend the warrentee for an additional year and scheduled service for me. That in my opinion, is excellent customer service, even if their product has issues. At least this will cover any problems for the next year!

I bought a Maytag dishwasher on 8/30. It was delivered on 9/2 with a dent on the front panel. The installer said it would take only a week to get a new panel and it only pops off and back on with the new panel. 6 weeks later an numerous phone calls the panel is finally delivered by a Jersey Appliance tech.
He proceeds to take the entire door apart. My first thought is it will never work right again because he sat there scratching his head. He than proceeded to open the box with the new panel and it is a Samsung panel! He said he would order a new panel for us. He put our door back together and guess what. The dishwasher does not release soap or dry the dishes anymore. I call the appliance store back (See-More Appliance) and arrange for a tech to fix the dishwasher. The appointment is scheduled for 2 days later between 1-5. I called at 4:15 to make sure they were coming. I get he is on call number 4 and I am call number 6 and yes he would be there. At 6 pm I get a call the truck is broken. YEAH RIGHT! I asked to speak to a supervisior I get disconnected. I call back and get the "oh I am so sorry" we can get someone out to you next week between 1-5. This place sucks big time. I would never do business with See-More Applicance or this repair place again!

I have replaced the handle two times, the basket broke after a few months of use, the front panel went out and now the water won't drain out, so I have to call a repairman out again. Please don't by Maytag anything! I have a Maytag refrigerator and it is just as bad.
By now I could have bought another new dishwasher.

How has Maytag remained in business?

I have a dishwasher I purchase on 3/18/06 along with 2 other Maytag products. I have had nothing but problems with the dishwasher. On 2/15/07, my dishwasher started leaking. It wasn't part of the recall, but it was leaking buckets. Three service calls later, you finally agreed to replace the seal on the door and spray arm. In July 08, my control panel stopped working. You sent over A&E service factory. The technician advised that the part I wouldn't have to pay for, just the service call. I did. One month later, they finally came back with the part and installed it. As of yesterday, 10/22, the control stopped working again. I called and spoke with Beverly at the customer service office. She put me on hold and advised that I did not need to pay for the service call or the part. The service call was set up for today. The technician from A&E service factory came out. He said I would have to pay for a new part. I told him no. I asked if there was a warranty on parts. He said no. There is just the original warranty on the unit itself. He told me to call Maytag while he was there. I did and the supervisor was useless. I called the parts department after I told the technician to leave and hung up with customer service. I spoke with Jaime and she was very helpful. She called A&E service factory for me and came back and said the technician was wrong and that they will come back, free of charge with a new part but I have to wait until his information is downloaded. If I do not hear back, I will be calling again tomorrow. If this is not taken care of I am going to purchase another dishwasher but from a different company liek GE or an international co. I will never purchase another MAYTAG applianace again and I will never recommend to another to purchase Maytag. In fact, I am going to post my story on the internet to let everyone know the lack of knowledge from your authorized technicians, lack of quality in product and lack of quality in parts. It is a crime to produce a product that only lasts a little over 2 years when you should be getting at least 8-10 out of it. I might have even been satisified with 5 years, but 2 is ridiculous. The financial hardship to purchase another unit because of the lack of quality is a CRIME!

Well my ice maker lasted just over a year ..Bought my refrigerater at Home Depot...Did they get a bunch of defected equipment? Seems like we all purchased from the same place...So What the heck does a person do to get this recalled? I think we all need some advise here as to who to contact to get some results...i hope more people learn where to post so that the company will do something about this problem..

Purchased a Maytag French door bottom freezer Sept 2008.My previous Maytag appliances have always been of good sturdy quality and longevity, this fridge I purchased is poor quality. the doors are paper thin and the temp. gauge is off.I have asked my dealer to take it back and of course now that it's a "used" fridge they won't. Now for $2800.00 you'd think the item would at least have decent doors! After the fridge was put into the slot allotted for it the rollers gouged my hardwood floors. You say impossible -come and see. I don't expect to get any satisfaction about this complaint.I've read pages and pages of complaints against Maytag and not one positive letter A disgruntled ex- customer

I have had the same problems as everyone else, Broken door latch, loud and motor, and of course the dishes come out dirtier than when I put them in. I had a tech com out on two occasions to fix the handle and once for the loud motor they were able to fix both ( the loud motor was a slipped belt, so I'm told). The last time I had a repairman out was for the dirty dishes. All he did is talk out both sides of hes mouth. after 4 months of dirty dishes I jumped in and tried to figure it out. In my case the seals around the docking station for each rack had disintegrated so water pressure was at a minimum. $24.00 later I have clean dishes.

Our (loud and Long Cycle Maytag)series 300 is junk. We bought it 2 Years ago after the one that came with our house finally gave up the Ghost. Two weeks after we bought it the rack froze up to the point that you needed a truck winch to open it. It was covered under warranty, However it took almost 60 Days to get the parts then the handle broke a month later. It was never very good at washing dishes, Now my Wife is Says that she is just going to start throwing away the dishes so she does't have to wash them by Hand.

NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY ANYTHING FROM MAYTAG. I THINK I WILL SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY AND BUY EUROPEAN BRANDS LIKE BOSCH. (GREAT WASHING MACHINES)

Our experience: There is a screen in the water inlet valve that plugs with sand and grit. This restricts water flowing into the machine and the impeller ends up trying to pump half water, half air. Noisy, and potentially damaging to the motor due to the vibration. The valve is in front on the left behind the kick plate, but it must be completely removed to clean out. Otherwise our dishes come out clean, but it is a long cycle.

I have had the Magtag ICE 20 for two years. The ice maker and the lights on the door flash and the ice door continuously flaps.
The ice make and the water despenser do not work.
I did not buy mine from Home Depot but from a reputable appliance dealer where I live.
They are coming this week to repair.
From what I have read I am afraid this is not the end of the problem.

We have a 300 series. It worked well for about six months. However, the latch did brake as others have reported on this site. Then it progressively stopped cleaning the dishes as well. Now, the glasses come out a mess. We have used gels, liquids and powder along with Jet Dry with no improvement.

If this is what Maytag offers, it is garbage and disappointing. Unless convienced otherwise, I would never by a Maytag.

Groaning Noise Reason and FIX-Maytag Quiet Series 300 - -Bought mine at Lowes-Best price- Dish Washer is 4 years old, had 3 year extended warranty; had the repairman fix dishwasher 3 times for that groaning noise it makes, on the repairman's third visit, {I asked the repairman if these Maytag products were tested in their labs and he said "they are tested in the field" which means tested in our homes} ...I happened to be home (Auto Mechanic by trade) and watched everything he did; so basically took out bottom rack, remove wash spray wand- 1 inverted TorX, removed 3 TorX screws from cover plate, also removed 6 TorX screws from cover below, removed 1 inverted TorX from this Black colored wheel, and below all that is a blade which is suppose to grind up food particles and you probably will find debris-hard things which do not grind, for instance-the things I have found -broken pieces of a plastic strainer, piece of platic food wrapper, glass, broken dishes, ect...thats why it groans is because of all that stuff below. Since the repairman has left, I have taken this dishwasher apart 4 more times for same problem, (believe you me, have more important things to do) last time was that broken piece of a plastic strainer which will not be going back in the dishwasher so basically any little tiny piece of debris will make this Quiet Series 300 Maytag groan. Note: the repairman did replace the motor on the first visit and some steel shaft which helps the supposedly makes the grinder part work better..yeah right. So about 2 months ago- now the soap dispenser will not open so basically just put soap on inside door-leave inner door open and shut the main dishwasher door to clean, believe there is an electronic or mechanical mechanism that is suppose to open the door during the wash cycle. The reason coming to this site was: now the dishes and glasses don't seem to be as clean...so what do ya do after taking this thing apart so many times...in the market for a new dishwasher but this time gonna do some serious reviewing of the products available before next purchase. Good Luck
